On Wednesday before I gave my presentation I confessed to a new employee that I was worried it would be too long and she brightly told me her life hack was to just let AI rewrite things for her. She said I should put in all my talking points and ask ChatGPT to give me a five minute exactly presentation. I was like....how is the most polite possible way (since this is a new colleague I shouldn't get off on the wrong foot with) that I can express that I will Not be taking this advice. Ever. I told her that I didn't think we were allowed to use ChatGPT at this job (we most certainly are not, it is a nightmare for any type of protected information) and also that I prefer to write all of my own work. Despite my best efforts the last part of that was still passive aggressive, lol.
Something about being a writer makes it so that it's almost offensive to me for someone to suggest I use AI to do my work instead? Like, the day I reach the point where I let AI write something for me is the day y'all need to be checking me for brain damage because clearly I'm losing it

its very interesting to me how Tamlin is the character and High Lord that is heavily vilified (I would almost say even more than Beron strangely) when he is the only High Lord to have talked about d how he has gone about removing slavery within his court, protecting lower fae in general, and his court was open to immigration from other courts (i cant remember if its mentioned again in acomaf but in acotar fae from other courts are free to move to the spring court. example, Alis) and how overall he is a great leader. Especially when you compare him and Rhysand as High Lords.
The Court of Nightmares is well, a nightmare. Its existence is extremely strange and makes Rhysand look very odd. as well as its unclear how Rhysand gets his wealth. Velaris was a hidden city until acomaf-ish, which means it was locked (so no immigration or emigration which isn't bad per-say but does bring up how it works economically) and Rhysands inability or unwillingness to protect his citizens (not enforcing the wing clipping ban and allowing people to be abused in the CoN. and before anyone starts about him not being able to control the illyrians, why did he make it a law in the first place? It just makes him look bad) makes him look like a shitty ruler. His supposed "feminism" and friendship with the people of velaris doesnt answer these very important questions or justify the strange shit he does. Versus Tamlin, which you can refer to my opening statement for the comparison. Also to note, his rule only came into question and stability after Feyre broke into people minds (which I do feel is extremely gross and a huge violation of ones autonomy and privacy) and had to sabotage him. I won't comment how I feel about this in this post, but it says a lot that she had to go through such lengths to break him down. Especially after it was revealed he was in fact a double agent and never actually siding with Hybern.
The only time Tamlin is an arguably bad high lord is in acofas and acosf where he is in a severe mental crisis and not in a position to properly rule. But even then, it's not clear if this is actually causing harm to the land and people. It's probably not good because they don't have a proper leader but I can't believe it's a severe issue.
Its definitely a strange choice, isn't it? Cause I think anyone in their right mind would choose the anti-tyranny, anti-slavery leader who does his best for his people... and its somehow not our supposed 'hero'
"I once told you I would fight against tyranny, against that sort of evil. Did you think you were enough to turn me from that?"
Acowar, chapter 44

It's always tempting to debate bigots about their bigotry, but honestly the best thing you can do is often to directly help those affected by said bigotry.
Bigotry doesn't exist to be debated. People who are bigots do not care about debate - they care about humiliating their opponents. You cannot outsmart somebody who doesn't give a flying fuck about their position being incorrect. You will be playing a completely different game by trying to debate somebody out of their bigotry.
The best thing you can do is to show up for the marginalized. Check in on them, talk to them, and engage with them as people. Ask them if they would like help and then respect their answer to the best of your capabilities. Oftentimes, that will be sufficient enough and will go a long way.

ngl, self-diagnoses doesn't harm anyone.
"They're taking away resources from actually autistic people!" where. proof for that. Also, most resources that non-diagnosed autistic ppl can get are just DIY remedies(headphones, sensory toys, ect), how is that taking away from your remedies.
i think instead of saying "no you cant self-diagnose or can only under specific circumstances", we should be sharing resources to help people who are questioning if they really have a condition or not
if you want ppl to stop incorrectly thinking they have autism, maybe we can just make content where we talk abt what autism actually entails and what is/isn't an autistic trait. instead of saying all self-diagnosers are faking on purpose
Information is the best killer of misinformation actually if you didn't know

re: LRB something that I have noticed continuously in discussion of the Ali Hazelwood books and similar/darker booktok popular romances is the widespread derision towards repeated tropes in books. Goodreads reviewers et al. seem to believe that because Ali only writes huge man/tiny woman, obviously she must be completely uncreative and have no new ideas. it was pretty immediately apparent to me that what is actually going on is that she has a size kink, or at the very least is writing fiction that leans into size kink (also readable as monsterfucker kink), regardless of her actual personal preference. but I think as in LRB, there can be a huge blind spot in literary criticism/analysis of romance+smut of identifying kink and understanding kink as a neutral element of the book. it has to be that the author is lazy, or sick, or personally condoning incest/staying with your abusive husband/poorly negotiated kinks. I think a lot of publishing leans into this by having authors market their personality as well as their books, leading to a very permeable barrier between authors and the characters they're writing - the taylor swift model, in many ways. anyway to get back to the idea brought up in LRB, that kind of criticism seems to be completely based in a moral superiority over any kind of expressed sexual preference or fantasy. the knee jerk reaction of, oh, this is cringe/stupid/dangerous/weird/insert other negative adjective that means nothing, it all swerves around any actual discussion of the implications or origins of a particular kind of fantasy, why it might appeal, what the author is trying to accomplish by including it.

I'm really tired so I'm probably coming off as harsh with SXSG, but I'm just so apathetic at this point.
Since becoming a Sonic Fan™ in 2012, there has been one really good game release and that was Mania. The rest were disappointments.
I was so excited for Lost World, it was the reason I wanted a Wii U. It is now one of my most hated games.
I preordered the Boom games. We all know how that went.
Forces left me so mixed.
Frontiers is endlessly tiring, partly due to the ongoing discourse, partly due to the game.
I haven't tried Superstars, but the mixed opinions tells me waiting for a big sale is a good idea.
Doesn't help that Generations was always heralded as one of the best, but I just couldn't ever get into it. I still think Colors is better.
All this to say, I'm not preordering SXSG. No matter how many bonuses are added or fancy merch packs, I've been burned enough. They gotta prove it's good first.

This will be a guide to all my Batman reviews. I'll add links as I post them
I must emphasize: I have not read every Batman book ever, nor do I intend to. If you have a specific comic that disagrees with something I say, feel free to send an ask about it! Be kind. DC means a lot to me, and I'm sure it means a lot to you, but they are fictional people 💖
Live action:
Batman (1944) - I started to watch this one and the amount of racism made me stop
Batman and Robin (1949) - same with the above. The plot is mostly Batman talking about how evil anyone who isn't America is
