ghost would show up on halloween at his girl's house (the one he's been mildly stalking) with an ㅤemptied flower pot from her neighbor's front yard (moment of silence for the onions that now lay uprooted) and even though there's a bowl of candy in the corner, he's still knocking loudly and demanding a treat and when she timidly drops a snickers bar into the pot that's still got clumps of fresh dirt in it, he's telling her that's not the treat he wants.

So I think we're all in agreement that L would be the type of yandere that prefers subtle manipulation. But what I don't see enough is the fact that L is stupid rich (he has the ability to make 60 million a year on stocks alone when accounting for inflation, I did the math but I hate math so you're not seeing my work) and he would use that to his advantage. And I'm not talking about money he could use to keep his beloved trapped or make sure whatever crimes he commits are left unseen (though push comes to shove that might be the case).

I mean that L gets very generous to build a rapport with his sweetheart.

Imagine that they have a go fund me, a small business, they're a small streamer or they do independent sex work online. One day they're suddenly getting massive amounts of money. If it's a platform where interaction is encouraged he comments just a little paired with that money, just enough to make them wonder why or how. And he keeps at it until the interactions are normal, until the object of his affections can't help but drop their guard a little. That's his in and he has the patience to wait for it to all seem natural as he slowly guides them towards an online friendship. Until it gets to the point he's offering to buy them anything they could want and they start to feel a bit indebted to him. He starts to test the boundaries but only ever to keep them safe, comfortable, and to know every single thing about them. Though he knows he has to hide that last part.

And don't they want to go on a trip? To meet up? (So he can see them in person finally and keep love bombing them.) He knows he looks a bit odd in person but he's still being friendly in his way. He just wants them to grow attached to him and learn it's okay to be completely dependant on him. He's fully aware it's wrong, but what he'll have to do if it doesn't work is much more uncomfortable for them (he has to; he won't be satisfied with his life if he doesn't). So in the end he finds it hard to care. Especially if they enjoy it.

This fanfiction is absolutely stunning. I first fell in love with this ship back when I was in middle school (a long time ago I'm 28 lol) and recently fell back into it when a friend had a Death Note themed costume birthday party. I was so happy to find what a beautiful fandom still existed and all of the talented people making new content.

The first piece I read by Neallo was There's Nothing I Hate More Then What I Can't Have and I was instantly enthralled. I mean feet kicking under the covers, giggling like a school girl, to the point where my partner started asking me after every giggle, "What did Mello do now?" Their fanfiction truly makes me feel the same joy I felt when I first got into fandom. When I was reading I Want To Hold You (Hostage) I knew I had to make art of it. Their work not only nails the character's dynamic and voices, it is also so sexy and well paced. At this point I could write an embarrassingly long think piece/love letter on their body of work so I'll stop while I'm ahead. Please if you haven't read it, add it to your list.

he's always busy yet manages to make time for you, because you're just as important (maybe a little less) than his daily dose of sugar. he makes you listen to his rants, something about a criminal that you tuned out moments ago because L said 4 'buts' in the span of a minute.

he probably stalked you before you even knew about him. knowing the full layout to your house and the easy access of your porch, you really make him worried y'know? the door is too easy to lockpick, do you want to get kidnapped??? :( you're hurting his feelings.

he orchestrates little bump ins with each other, no matter what you just keep seeing him at the same places as you! it's not like he didn't spend the day checking the cameras around you just to predict your movement hahahaha that's crazy dude. you're crazy and you shouldn't question him!!!
