A Day at the Fair
Pairing: Javier Peña x Reader
Word count: 6665
Summary: the DEA are about to make a drug bust at the county fair and Javi gets distracted
A/N: thanks to @musings-of-a-rose for listening to me about all my nonsense lol
Tumblr media
The crowd around them is loud, but Javier Peña can tune out crowds with the best of them. With a family the size of his, that loves to stick their noses where they don’t belong, he’d have to be.
His partner, however, always gets itchy in crowds. Steve Murphy isn’t a people kind of person. Or
maybe he is as long as they’re not cops. Who the fuck knows? Javi throws another dart onto the rotating dart boards. Bullseye number two.
Murphy scoffs, stuffing a nacho chip in his mouth. “How can you do that?” He asks, turning away from the booth to scan the crowd.
Their target hasn’t arrived yet and Javi is bored with a capital B. He didn’t want to do this drugs bust here at the fair, but Upper Management overruled him. Shocker. He throws another dart, almost not even paying attention and it lands on a bullseye once more.
“Patience, skill, it’s all in the wrist.” Peña shrugs.
“Whatever. I thought you didn’t like the fair.” Murphy mumbles.
“Entirely not true.” Javier says, watching a pretty girl walk by. “I just didn’t want to take down a drug dealer in front of little kids. I’ve got standards, man.” He grins, throwing the fourth dart without even looking.
“Jesus Christ.” Steve rolls his eyes with a sardonic chuckle. Bullseye number four.
“Do you want a go? We’ve got time for you to practice.” Javi teases, offering him the last dart. The booth is just a small square tent with open views on all sides so crowds can gather all around. Cheap stuffed animals are hanging from the ceiling, and Peña has his eye on a stuffed panda for his niece. In the center is a large disc that rotates around in a circle with five dart boards lying flat. If you can get all five darts in the center of any of the boards, you get a prize.
“Oh, fuck off.” Murphy mutters. “It can’t be that hard.” He takes the last dart and studies the rotating board intently.
Peña checks his watch, mostly just to mess with him. “Come on, pendejo, it’s not brain surgery.”
Murphy ignores him, as is usual, and takes his time before finally throwing it. It bounces off the metal rim and falls to the ground.
“Shut up.” He warns instantly, and Javi artfully disguises his shit-eating grin.
He pulls another five bucks from his wallet and hands it to the guy running the booth. Luckily for the two DEA agents, or maybe more for the guy running the booth, this spot has the best vantage point to keep an eye on the area of suspicion. They’ve been stuck in this area for thirty minutes at least.
“How are you not sweating, man? This heat is the worst.” Murphy says, shaking out his shirt.
“You lived in Colombia for how long? And after living in Texas-Florida heat is nothing.” He shrugs, throwing the first dart.
“Whatever, you freak. I’m gonna hit the head.” Steve tosses his nachos and wanders away.
Javi is mostly wasting time with the darts. But someone steps next to him and he’s glad Steve walked away. He throws the last dart and gets his bullseye as the pretty girl next to him watches, impressed. He gestures to the panda as his prize and you lean against the railing next to him.
“Interesting choice. I would have assumed the shark.” You say, the teasing smile evident in your voice.
Javi looks from the panda to you and back, examining it. “You think so?”
“Oh, absolutely.” You nod matter of factly.
“And why is that?” He asks, leaning next to you, keeping one eye on the area, but you have most of his attention.
“Sharks are mostly harmless until provoked. You seem like you could be dangerous, but most of the time it’s just not worth your effort.” You say.
He chuckles with a self-effacing nod. “Maybe.” He watches you tuck your hair behind your ear before you smile back up at him.
“What’s your name?” You ask.
“Javier.” He answers. “You?”
You tell him your name and he can’t help but think that it’s one of the prettiest names he’s ever heard.
“Can I ask, Javier, you don’t really strike me as the fair-goer-type. Are you having fun?” You ask.
“Why does everyone think I don’t like fairs?” He asks exasperatedly.
“Well, you did bring a gun.” You whisper, gesturing to the bump on his hip that’s his gun, covered only by his favorite Hawaiian shirt.
He starts at that. “How did you-“
You grin. “My ex-fiancĂ© was a cop. Or, still is, I suppose.”
“Is him being a cop the reason he’s an ex?” He asks.
“No. It was the cheating, the lying, the secret family.” You tick off on your fingers like adding ‘secret family’ to the end of that sentence isn’t the most wild thing to reveal to a stranger. “I was fully ready to be married to a cop. But apparently so was his wife.” You shrug. “My dad, my uncles, my grandpa-all cops. So, lucky for you, I know not all cops are cheating dirtbags, and if I happen to meet a handsome cop at the fair and he were to buy me food or win me a prize, I wouldn’t say no.” You say and all he can do is stare as it dawns on him that you’ve actually been flirting with him this whole time. He used to be better at this.
“Peña.” His earbug crackles and it makes him jump.
“Peña, here.” He responds, never taking his eyes off your pretty face.
“Get your fucking ass ready, man. Target’s here.” Murphy says exasperatedly.
“Shit.” Javi curses.
“Duty calls?” You guess and he’s never been more annoyed at his job than now.
“Unfortunately.” He glances down at the panda in his hand. “Will you hold onto this?” He asks and you nod, taking it in your arms. “I’ll be right back.” He promises quickly before taking off.
That was stupid. He shouldn’t have promised you that.
***
You watch the most handsome man you’ve ever met jog across the green and vault himself over a low brick wall.
“Hmm.” You cross your arms over your chest, trapping the stuffed panda there for safe keeping. “Javier Peña.” You muse, walking towards the funnel cake stand nearby. You hope he does come back.
The panda intrigues you, as does the impeccable ability to throw darts at a moving target and never miss.
“I think I’ll call you Amanda, Amanda the Panda.” You tell it. “You look like you want some funnel cake while we wait.” And that’s exactly what you do. There’s a picnic bench nearby and you wait there until Javier isn’t busy anymore.
Whomever he’s arresting, they have a lot of stuff going on because it’s taking forever. You eat a funnel cake, a gyro, and some amazing brisket queso fries.
You snag a napkin not stained with grease and write your address on it. You see him hop back over the wall, heading for you and you smile to yourself.
“Sorry that took so long.” He huffs, running a hand roughly through his dark locks.
“No worries.” You smile at him. “Everything work out alright?” You ask.
“Better than we hoped.” His eyes drop to the stuffed panda tuwcked safely in your arms. “I can take that back.” He starts, reaching for it, but you twist slightly out of his grasp.
“Actually,” you hesitate and he frowns. “Amanda and I have bonded. And we’ve decided that-“
“I’m sorry, who’s Amanda?” He squints.
“Amanda the Panda. And we’ve decided to split custody. So, you can take her back tomorrow night, when you pick us up for dinner.” You tell the poor, shocked cop, handing him the napkin with your address on it.
He takes the napkin dumbly and clears his throat, a smile starting to tug at his pretty lips. “How does seven sound?”
“Like a date.” You reply, taking a step back. “See you tomorrow.”
He waves with a half salute and you disappear from his line of sight into the crowd.
Javi
“You’re really going?” Murphy asks in surprise.
“She’s holding my panda hostage.” Javi shrugs. The whole idea is absurd. But you were really fucking cute, extorting a date out of him.
Steve laughs. “I thought DEA agents don’t negotiate. What did she name the thing again?”
“Amanda the Panda. And who’s negotiating?” Peña grins, tucking his aviators on and heading out of the office’s front doors.
“Good luck with your hostage situation!” Murphy calls after him. Javier departs with a middle finger tossed behind him.
Nervously, ridiculously afraid to do the wrong thing, he buys you flowers. Not roses, that’s
a lot to get back a panda. But daisies? Absolutely.
He pulls up in front of your house and he can tell you’ve put a lot of work into it. The gardens are beautiful and in full bloom, filled with bushes and trees of a deep emerald green, flowers that are bright reds, soft coral pinks, and deep purples. Your house is a quaint one story cottage painted a pastel pink with a white trim.
He gets out of his little truck and walks up to the front door, a soft brown wood, the white paint worn down with age and sand blasting probably. A wreath made of bleached coral and seashells hangs on the door.
If this isn’t the most Florida home he’s ever seen.
He knocks solidly and it’s only a second or two before the door swings open and he’s momentarily speechless. Your hair is styled into soft curls, tempting him to reach out and touch them, run his fingers through them and make them a mess. Your lips are the softest, most delicate shade of pink. You’re wearing a sundress that is so tempting, he almost has to walk away. Thin white straps, bright red cherries with bright green stems. A gathered sweetheart neckline that shows off your heavenly curves perfectly almost has him wishing the weather was just a little bit cooler. But you’d probably find a way to torment him then, too. He can’t even force himself to look down your perfect body to see what kind of shoes you chose to destroy him with. He glances anyway. Simple white platform pumps.
Christ, he’s in trouble.
“I have to admit, I’m not sure I really expected you to show.” You tell him, drawing his attention back to your face.
“You look amazing.” He manages, handing over the flowers.
“Oh, thank you. These are beautiful.” You take them, stepping back and letting him into your home.
He’s not quite sure what he was expecting; maybe a lot of pink to match the outside, looking for all the world like an overstuffed cafe. But it’s actually quite comfortable. Soft colors: sky blue, blush pink-nothing in your face bright. The furniture is cozy without being an explosion of stuffing. It looks like a comfy beach cottage.
“I like your house.” He manages again as you set the flowers in a pretty vase on the coffee table.
“Thank you. I wanted something that reminds me of a day at the beach.” You smile at him and he loses his train of thought again. You select a soft white cardigan off the hooks by the door. “Ready to go? I’m excited to see what you have planned.” You say and he scratches at the back of his head.
“Ready.” He opens the don’t door for you and closes it behind him, waiting patiently while you lock it. “So, you enjoy being at the beach?” He asks, leading you to his little pickup truck.
“Yeah. I can’t imagine living in Florida and hating it.” You look at him curiously. “Do you hate the beach, Javi?” You ask as he opens the door for you, almost as if a yes would devastate you.
He closes it and walks around, climbing in. “No. It’s hard to chase someone in the sand, but I like the view.” He says, turning over the engine. Your perfume fills the space, swirls around him and he finds himself taking extra long breaths just to smell it longer. It’s floral, soft. Beautiful.
“Do your suspects run on the beach a lot?” You ask and he chuckles.
“No, thank god.”
“That’s good. The beach should be for fun things.” You say definitively.
“Like what?” He prompts. He could listen to you tell him things all day long. Doesn’t matter if it’s shit he already knows. Tell him again.
“Tanning, seashell collecting, skinny dipping, watching the waves and storms roll in, kissing in the rain.” You shrug. “The usual.”
He nearly swerves as you mention skinny dipping. You just might kill him. “I like your thinking.” He manages and you laugh.
“You’re adorable when you blush.” You say, half turning to face him in your seat.
“I don’t blush.” He protests.
You reach out softly and brush his cheek. “Right here. Just the cutest.” You tease and his stomach is a mess with butterflies. He captures your hand and kisses the back of it before setting it on the middle seat. But you don’t let go, instead, scooting closer, linking your arm around his and resting your cheek against his shoulder.
“Where are we going?” You ask.
“I was thinking Cuban food?”
“Oh my god, yes.” You agree enthusiastically, and he’s happy you’re so into it.
He parks outside the little restaurant and gets out, with you following him out of his door. You reclaim his hand, following him inside.
***
Javier is adorable, blushing at any little innuendo you make. You don’t think he’s innocent, just not used to being on the receiving end.
The restaurant is exactly what you would expect from a Cuban eatery. Full of life, culture, loud music, and amazing smelling food. There are couples dancing out on the cobblestone patio out back that you can spot as you’re led to a booth.
You slide all the way in, leaving space for Javi next to you if he wants, and you hope he does. He slides in next to you, arm draping comfortably on the back of the booth. The waiter sets menus in front of you and walks away to give you time to look.
You shift against Javi slightly, getting comfortable against the side of his chest, hoping that he doesn’t mind you getting so personal so fast.
“Have you been here before?” You ask.
“A couple times. The food is really good.” He says, opening one of the menus. “I like the Milanesa de pollo with white rice and black beans. Or the masitas de puerco.” He says, pointing them out on the menu.
“I get one, you get the other?” You offer and he chuckles.
“Works for me.” He agrees, flipping to the cocktails.
You’re watching him as he reads them off to you. He’s beautiful. You saw it yesterday while he was casually dominating the carnival game. But today? He looks less stressed, even if you do make him flustered.
He seems to realize you’re not really listening to him and he cuts off short, looking at you, confused. “Are you alright?” He asks and you can’t help but smile softly.
“Yeah, I’m perfect.”
The waiter comes back over and you let Javi order for you, his Spanish being far superior to yours.
“So, whole family of cops, engaged to one, looking to date another.” He starts and you’re already grinning. “Are you a cop?” He asks and you laugh.
“No. I’ve broken tradition. I was going to be a teacher, but hated it. So, now I’m a writer. I get to make my own schedule, my own office. My commute is from my bedroom to my living room.” You say and he laughs. It’s deep and a little rough.
“That sounds perfect, to be honest. Have I read anything of yours? I didn’t recognize the name.”
“Probably not. I write under a false name. I do a bit of everything-mystery, horror, romance. Whatever strikes me.” You shrug. “You also don’t seem like the type to have a ton of time to read.”
“Guilty, but maybe I’ll start.” He winks.
You clear your throat, fighting a sudden and overwhelming urge to kiss this man. He’s holding you, smelling oh-so-good, and taking an interest? Christ, you just might marry him.
“So, you know about my awkward ex. Anyone lurking in your past?” You ask.
“Oh, you know, just an almost wife.” He says so casually as he sips his drink that it’s almost payback for you doing it to him.
“Almost wife?” You press, eyebrows lifting high.
“Yeah.” He clears his throat gruffly, crunching an ice cube. “Her name was Lorraine. And she was amazing, and I left her the night before the wedding.” He says. He’s not proud of it-you can tell. But he told you, which says something to you, giving you a sense of warmth? Pride? Honor?
“Why?” You ask softly.
“It’s complicated, but the long and tall of it is that she lied about being pregnant to get me to marry her. Told me the night before the wedding that it was all fake. I couldn’t get past it.” He scratches at his chin.
“I don’t blame you.” You say, taking his hand over your shoulder. “I’ll tell you what, though.” You start, looking up at him.
“What’s that?”
“Their losses are our gains.” You say brightly and he presses a chuckling kiss to your temple, setting off a swarm of butterflies in your stomach.
“I couldn’t have said it better myself, sweetheart.”
Your food is served and not once while you’re eating does the conversation falter. You find out he’s a DEA agent. He’s recently moved back from Colombia where he was stationed. His family all lives in Texas but he only feels a little guilty for not getting back to see them often enough. But his ex is still there and that makes it awkward.
You push your empty plate away, satisfied. “Shit, that was delicious.” You sigh, patting your stomach. His eyes follow the motion and it’s hard to tell in the dim lighting, but you’re pretty sure his pupils got bigger.
“How are you at dancing?” You ask, tipping your head back to look up at him.
“I can hold my own. Would you like to dance?” He asks.
“I would love to.”
He drops cash on the table and leads you out under the string lights and pulls you close. The song switches to something slower. You don’t recognize it, but apparently Javi does. His cheek is resting against yours, holding your hand against the center of his broad chest as he dances the both of you across the semi-crowded floor. He’s humming along and you can’t help but close your eyes, leaning against him, completely at ease. You could very easily spend your days like this, dancing with him in your kitchen after dinner, glass of wine in your hand, this beautiful man in your arms.
The song ends and he pulls back from you, looking almost as reluctant as you are. “We have to go, cariño. I have more planned for us.” He says and you perk up.
“You do?”
“Of course. I need to make a good impression if I ever want my panda back.” He teases.
You grin. “Fair enough, Mr. Peña. Lead the way.” You tell him and he takes your hand, leading you out into the humid air. It’s starting to get dark and you wonder what he could possibly have planned.
He opens his door and you climb back in, sliding across the bench seat to make space for him. He climbs in next to you and gives you a smile before he starts his little truck.
You shift against him, getting comfortable once more. His big arm is around you and it doesn’t really matter to you where he’s taking you.
“Are you always this forward?” He asks, getting back on the road.
“I see no point in lying or hiding what I want.” You shrug. “I like you, I think you’re beautiful. Why would I hide that I want you?”
He gives a strangled sort of chuckle. “Jesus.” He tugs you close, pressing a kiss to the crown of your head. “I like the way you think, princesa.”
“Good.”
“It doesn’t bother you that I’m older?” He asks.
“Not at all. Men my age just want another mommy. Men like you aren’t looking for that, you’re more experienced, and you’re not looking to play games with my head. Either you want me, or you don’t.”
“Oh, trust me, Angelita, I want you. I can’t imagine anyone not wanting you.” He says, pulling into a drive and you recognize the drive-in theater. He buys two tickets and you smile to yourself.
Movies under the stars with Javier? What could be more perfect?
He backs his truck into a space and you look at him, confused. “How are we going to watch it backwards?”
“Come on.” He opens his door and helps you down. You wobble in the grass on your heels and he grins down at you. “God, you’re cute.” He climbs up into the truck bed and pulls out blankets and pillows.
You stare at him, surprised and amazed. Whatever you had expected from tonight, this wasn’t it. You watch him move around to make the truck bed comfortable and cozy for you. You might have to kiss him. You smile to yourself as he hops back out.
“Ready?” He asks, holding out his big hand to you.
“More than ever.” You accept and he leads you to the back.
“Want popcorn?” He asks. You nod enthusiastically and he chuckles. “Ok, doll face. I’ll be right back.” He jogs away to the concession stand a couple rows away and you slide up onto the tailgate while you wait for him. He comes back fairly quickly despite how busy the drive-in is. He sets popcorn and two sodas next to you and goes to move the speakers, setting them on the ledges of the truck bed. He comes back around and looks at you, almost waiting.
“It’s perfect, Javier.” You reach forward, hooking a finger around the top buttoned button of his shirt and pull him closer between your thighs. You press a soft kiss to his cheek. “Thank you for making tonight so wonderful.” You say softly and his eyes dip closed.
“Of course, sweetheart.” He steps back for you to get comfortable and you cross your legs, removing your heels. You set them out of the way just inside the edge of the truck bed. He lets out a soft little noise and you glance at him curiously.
“Hermosa, you’re killing me.” He sighs, sliding up next to you and taking off his dusty boots. It’s almost weird to you how watching him take off his shoes feels like something intimate. You get the feeling that he doesn’t allow himself to be comfortable around many people.
He sets his boots next to your heels and shifts himself to the back against the pillows with the popcorn and your drinks.
“Coming?” He arches an eyebrow and pats the spot next to him. Yeah, you’re gonna kiss this man until your lips fall off.
You roll and turn to crawl to him on your hands and knees until you can twist and sit next to him.
“Shit.” You hear him curse quietly and you smile innocently to yourself. Glad to know you’re having just as much of an effect on him as he is on you. You shift against him comfortably as his big arm slips around your shoulders, holding you against him. He settles the popcorn between your thigh and his where you can easily reach it. You take a piece, popping it into your mouth. His thumb is brushing soft, slow strokes against the front or your arm next to him, his own like a bar across your chest.
“Do you miss Colombia?” You ask.
“Not particularly. I was down there for my job. I’m certainly not minding being back in the states right now.” He grins down at you.
You smile back, bringing his hand to your mouth, gently kissing his palm. The smell of him is surrounding you, encasing you in everything that is Javier Peña and you never want to leave.
His hand gently cups your throat, sliding up under your chin to tilt your head back for him. He presses those soft lips to your forehead and you close your eyes, crossing your legs tightly. This man is a menace that you will gladly invite into your bed. He shifts, another kiss to your temple, your cheek, his thumb stroking your jaw.
Fuck, you’re fucking wet.
The movie starts and he lets you go, turning his attention to the screen.
Rude.
***
He has you desperately trying to hide your peals of laughter as you fight for a piece of popcorn. Every time you reach for a piece, he’s tickling your sides, or taking your hand and eating the piece out of your fingers. His soft lips trap your fingertips in his mouth, his tongue brushing against the pads, licking them free of any salt or butter. His other hand tickling your side to distract you.
It’s when he nips your fingertips that you freeze, fingers still in his mouth. That turned you on more than it was probably supposed to. He releases your fingers and you don’t immediately pull away; instead, letting your thumb brush cross his soft-as-sin lower lip.
You don’t realize you’re holding your breath until you have to inhale extra and your lungs hurt. In that split second, your lips part, his gaze drops to your mouth and then you’re kissing. You don’t know who moved, maybe you both did.
His mouth on yours is like a flame, searing the air from your lungs. He licks at your bottom lip, parting you further, hands gripping at your back, and waist as you thread your fingers through his soft curls. You turn, swinging one leg over his big thighs. His hands grip your thighs, ruching up your dress as they slide up your body to your back and hair, holding you against his chest.
You rock your hips, trying anything to get closer to him, fingers deep in his soft locks. A little tug as you rock and you’re rewarded with the softest moan against your open mouth. His fingers press into your back, crumpling your dress in his possessive grip.
He breaks away from your mouth, kissing down your jaw, your throat, your shoulders as he slides the straps off.
“Hermosa, mierda.” He groans against your skin. “Por favor, can I touch you?” He whispers, and you nod, lost in the feel of him growing hard under you.
He kisses you fiercely, hand sliding under the hem of your summer dress. Soft fingertips skimming up your bare thighs as you nip at his lip, returning the kiss just as eagerly.
He pulls your panties to the side, burying his face against your bare shoulder. He groans as his pads swipe through your drenched folds, teasing your clit with little nudges.
“Cariño, all for me?” He teases. “You’ve been tempting me all night with this pretty dress.” He tells you in a whisper, rubbing tight slow circles around your sensitive little nub. He gives it a few minutes, drawing out your pleasure as it coils low and hot in your belly. You’re cupping his face, kissing him in between ragged breaths and soft moans, pleas for more. He slides his thick fingers down away from your clit towards your entrance, probing you and driving you crazy. He kisses along your neck, licking and sucking a very deliberate mark onto your skin. He nips at it, soothing it with his tongue and sucking before starting again as his fingers coat themselves in your slick before he pushes two inside your warm, velvety tunnel. He moans quietly against your chest. The stretch from his fingers alone is enough for you. You can’t imagine any other part of him yet. His thumb takes up tormenting your sensitive clit as his fingers stroke along your frontal walls easily.
“J-Javi,” your voice breaks as you try to be quiet. But all you can think about is him. The way he smells, and the way he’s clinging to you, the way his mustache scrapes against your skin, the way his tongue licks against you.
“Sh, sh, hermosa.” He coos, nibbling at your earlobe. “Gotta be a good girl for me. Gotta be quiet so all these people don’t know what a naughty girl you are, letting a cop touch this pretty pussy in public.” He says, his voice low and husky in your ear, only serving to make you wetter. You’re grinding against his hand, gasping against his cheek, clinging to him. His other arm is around you, holding you tight against him as he fingers you. “Good girl, baby. So tight, taking my fingers so good.” He praises and you’re melting against him. You lift up, body starting to tense as you try to escape the oncoming orgasm.
He catches the neckline of your dress with his teeth and pulls it down, exposing your breasts to him as you tremble, cumming on his fingers with a whine. “That’s it, baby. Such a good girl. You can give me more.” He encourages, latching onto a nipple and giving it the same treatment he gave your neck. Pleasure shoots straight to your cunt where he stokes it against your g-spot.
“J-Javi,” you gasp and he bites gently on your nipple in response. You shudder, grinding harder on his hand beneath your dress.
“Love the way you moan my name, princesa.” He fingers you diligently, never slowing down, his eyes always on you. “Most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, you cumming on my fingers. Wanna keep you like this.” He moans. You push down, grinding half against his hand and half against his crotch. He’s hard and aching, you can feel him twitch under you every time you moan in his ear.
You kiss him desperately, tugging at his hair as he steadily works you higher and higher until you snap for the second time. It occurs to you, somewhere in your orgasm-muddled- brain, that he has his fingers inside you out in public where anyone walking by can see. Your tit is out on display, granted it’s crushed against his broad chest, but still.
He licks a hot stripe up the center of your chest, along your throat, to your mouth, kissing you messily. “You’re dripping down my hand, hermosa. Got you so wet.” His own deep voice cracks as you whimper against his neck. “Want you to cum again. Want you to soak my hand, baby. Drench me and give me everything you have.” He urges, fingers picking up pace inside you and on your clit. His arm is wrapped tightly around you, holding you where he wants you. He sucks on your neck again, biting your skin and fingering you furiously.
Your soul leaves your body as you convulse and orgasm on his fingers. He holds you against his lap, making you take the pleasure he’s giving you. Not letting you escape from it like you normally would. He doesn’t stop. You wonder if his fingers are tired, but he doesn’t stop, chasing orgasm number four from your body. Your inner walls are clenching around his fingers, riding them with an unknown desperation as he marks up your skin with his perfect mouth. Small whimpers are leaving your body as he drags you higher and higher and higher and higher until your body snaps and you go slack, arching back away from him as you tremble with your most powerful orgasm yet.
He lays you back on the blanket carefully, adjusting your legs to be more comfortable. He pulls his sopping wet hand out from under your dress, holding it up for you to see it glistening in the moonlight. “So fucking pretty.” He praises. “Fuck, I could watch you cum all day long.” He says, licking his fingers and giving a small moan. “You’re fucking delicious. Sweetest pussy on earth.” He says, sucking his fingers clean as you watch him through half lidded eyes. He leans over you, kissing you deeply and letting you taste yourself on his tongue. Combined with his taste, you wrap your arms around his neck to keep him there.
He indulges for just a few minutes but then shifts himself between your thighs. “What kind of gentleman would I be if I let you walk around with your cum dripping down your thighs for the rest of the night?” He chuckles, lifting your dress.
“Should be your cum dripping out of me.” You say and he grins.
“That’s for next time.” He promises, and then his tongue is on you and you forget how to exist. His hand is over your exposed tit as he buries his head in your pussy. If you thought his fingers had you seeing stars? That’s nothing to the way his tongue brushes against every inch of you. He pushes it deep inside you, slurping at you, swirling around your already quivering clit. It traces every inch of your flower, searching for the nectar you release until he makes you cum two more times and then he declares you’re decent.
You are, in fact, not decent. You should like to show him right here right now how indecent you would like to be with him, but you currently can’t move. He fingered the bones right out of your body. He adjusts your dress, covering you back up and making you proper again. He lies next to you, the both of you facing the wrong way for the movie, but you don’t even care. You curl up against him, head on his chest listening to his heartbeat.
“I’ve never cum like that before.” You tell him and he chuckles, his fingertips tracing lines down your bare arms.
“That’s a crying shame. You’re stunning, and when you cum-it’s like a whole different level. I would love to watch you cum over and over all day someday. Just to watch that face you make and hear those gorgeous noises.” He says and you feel yourself blushing. “Maybe next time, we can be somewhere for you to be loud. Wanna hear you scream my name.” He whispers and you groan.
“That probably won’t be a problem.” You admit and he laughs quietly. “Can I-“ you reach for his belt buckle, but he catches your wrist.
“This was about you tonight, hermosa.” He says, pulling your hand back up to hold it on his chest.
“You look uncomfortable.” You tell him and he chuckles.
“Reward of a job well done. I like a little bit of pain.” He says softly.
You file that bit of information away for later. “Alright, just don’t go exploding. I’d like to see you again.” You warn him and he kisses the crown of your head.
“Not to worry, princesa. I won’t explode without you.” He promises and you snuggle more against his chest, satisfied and getting sleepy.
***
Javi
He looks down at you, asleep in his arms and drops his head back down. He’s in trouble. He likes this way too much for this to be his first date with you.
The credits are rolling but he doesn’t care that you both missed more than half of the movie. He lifts his head, kissing the top of your hair.
“Hermosa,” he whispers. “Wake up, pretty girl.” He says gently rocking your shoulder. You don’t move and he gently shifts you off his chest and onto your back. He kisses your forehead, between your cute little eyebrows, the tip of your nose. One temple, then the other. He can see your eyelids fluttering. He kisses down your cheek, the point of your chin, up your other cheek.
Christ, you smell good. He nudges your head to the side with his nose, kissing down your neck, admiring his handiwork with the hickie he left. He licks at the hollow in the center at the base of your throat. He allows one small nip at your skin, soothing it over with his tongue as your face scrunches and you whine softly. He trails slow kisses down your sternum, nipping at the top of your perfect breasts. He licks there, too and you shiver as the cool breeze blows over it.
You whine again, your hands coming up to settle in his hair. He kisses down between your breasts, down over your stomach, hands bunching up your skirt, wondering how far you’ll let him go with this.
“Don’t be a tease, Peña.” You mumble, eyes still closed and he chuckles.
“Movie’s over, cariño.” He comes back up, brushing your soft cheek with the back of his knuckles.
“And?” You sigh, pulling his head to yours and he laughs, kissing you with repeated quick little pecks. “You’re such a menace.” You complain.
“I’m aware.” He grins, rolling back over next to you and you sit up.
“Do you have to work tomorrow?” You ask, rolling against his chest and looking down at him. Your hair falls into your face, tickling him. He brushes it back, taking every chance to touch you now that he knows he can.
“I’m not supposed to. But in my line of work, you never really know.” He says.
“Okay. I can live with that.” You kiss him softly and pull away too quickly. He tries to follow, half sitting up and you laugh.
“I should take you home before the bugs eat you alive.” He says, sitting up next to you and leaning back on his hands.
“Unless you want another go at it.” You wiggle your eyebrows and he laughs.
“I’m not saying no.” He turns and scoots to the tailgate, pulling his boots on. You slide next to him and he gets down, scooping you up easily.
You shriek and laugh, wrapping your arms around his neck. “Smooth.”
He winks and sets you in the front seat. He returns the speakers, gathers up the pillows and blankets and throws away the popcorn. He climbs back in and returns your shoes.
He starts the truck and is pleased when you lean against him again. He could very easily get used to this. He drives you home, parking out front. He climbs out, holding his hand out for you. He doesn’t let it go, though, as he walks you to the front door.
You hesitate at the door, fiddling with your keys. “Can I tempt you to come inside?” You ask, looking up at him.
“Darlin’, if anyone could, it would be you. But, I think I’m going to say no tonight. I always rush into everything and this-I want to take this slow.” He says, his heart cracking at turning you down, but you don’t get mad, you just smile at him so sweetly.
“Alright.” You beckon him closer and kiss him deeply, arms wrapped around his shoulders, on your tiptoes, fevered. He returns it, hands bunching into fists against your back.
“Christ, woman.” He pulls back, heart racing and breathing hard. Luckily, you look just as flushed as he feels. “Can I see you tomorrow?” He asks.
“Pending any major drug related emergencies? Absolutely.” You nod and he grins.
“It’s a date. Breakfast? I have plans.”
“I can be up in time for breakfast.” You agree.
“Perfect. Goodnight.” He says softly and makes sure you get inside and the door locks before he walks back to his truck. He climbs inside, grinning like an idiot. And it isn’t until he starts the engine that he remembers the stupid panda.
“Fuck.”

I love looking at my friends favorite PokĂ©mon, especially when they see one that’s one of my absolute favorites and I can’t help but go
Wait, do you like this PokĂ©mon because of me? Did I, influence somebody? That’s impossible, I thought I could only influence civ6 city states, and Minecraft skeletons when I want a music disc
Alternative it’s cool to look at one of theirs that I don’t really like that much and fight to the dea- I mean, discuss why we like or dislike them

A "new" Dracula, Gloria Dea, a planet parade and miserable habits
Welcome to Friday morning!
Today’s list isn’t terribly long but it’s packed with some good stuff. As always, I hope you find at least one piece you enjoy!
I hope that your weekend is fun, restful, and packed with whatever it is that you enjoy!
EugĂ©nie Brazier: The legendary 'mother of French cuisine' - BBC Travel, “Uneducated, a single mother and the first person ever to receive six Michelin stars, EugĂ©nie Brazier was a tour de force.”
Have we got Ancient Egypt's mummies all wrong? - BBC Culture, “We're stepping back from this desire to unwrap," says Price, adding that they hope to "flip the narrative" by refocusing the attention "from the inside – what we expect we have the right to see – on to the outside – what the Ancient Egyptians expected people to see.”
Vinyl records outsell CDs for first time in decades - BBC News, “Music lovers clearly can't get enough of the high-quality sound and tangible connection to artists vinyl delivers," Glazier said, "and labels have squarely met that demand with a steady stream of exclusives, special reissues, and beautifully crafted packages and discs.”

Gloria Dea, Las Vegas magician who vanished into obscurity, dies at 100 - The Washington Post, “In 1941, Ms. Dea was 19 when she appeared onstage at El Rancho Vegas, the first Las Vegas hotel and casino on a mostly desolate stretch of road now lined with towering spectacles of gambling and entertainment, including Caesars Palace and the Bellagio.”

Hello thanks for responding, my last doctor says he thinks it's my nerves and in addition I found out I have 3 herniated disc near where I had surgery, he wants to do back shots but I told them they don't work with me. I don't like the fact that the new policies for the doctors and Dea are involved with the opiods, just as well cause I'm afraid of addiction. I did back away from the back doctor cause they do listen to me about my concerns, and like everyone with back pain I'm so restricted
I have so many friends who have gotten addicted to opioids and when the doctor stopped prescribing them turned to heroin. I'm actually going to a funeral tomorrow for a friend who died of a drug overdose. 😭 If you can stay off that type of medication I definitely think it's safer. I know in your other message you said that you smoke cannabis a lot and that helps, I take a CBD supplement daily but I also smoke too and that helps a good deal. I've heard a lot of people say that topical CBD is very helpful as well. I'm not in a state where marijuana is legal unfortunately but they're trying to pass it for medical đŸ„Č If they do under the new law I would be able to get it for PTSD.
Honestly it says but you just have to be really mindful of what's best for you and sometimes the doctor doesn't necessarily know what the best option for you is. You are your own biggest advocate.
The other best thing you can do is just make sure you rest when you need to. A lot of times when we have chronic pain it's very easy to overdo ourselves and we just have to be mindful of what our limits are and the fact that those limits might change day to day too. Today I feel good but I don't want to overdo it so that I can't do anything tomorrow. If you can tolerate it, I find massage is super helpful too. I started seeing a chiropractor late last year and she's been super helpful for me. But finding a treatment method that works best for you can be hard and it can be a lot of trial and error. Ultimately you just have to do what feels best for you! 💓

Ranking: Charging for A-tier
(This guide was a collaboration between @muffinrecord and @cactus-bun)!
So, you want to get into A-tier for a shot at those excellent new memoria, but you hate Ranked and don’t have the best characters in the game for it. What’s a player to do?
Simple: embrace the Chargius.
“Chargius??” you ask. “Wait, I can’t possibly give in to the dark side.”
Oh but you can, and you will.
Choosing your Chargius
For a Chargius strategy, you need a Charge gorilla. Here are your 5* options in the game:
Mitsune Miwa
Riko Chiaki
Tsukuyo Amane
Jun Kazari
Yachiyo Nanami (Tanabata ver.)
Meiyui Chun (not recommended since her damage output is low)
Ayame Mikuri
Momoko Togame
Sae Kirino
Miyuri Yukari
Akira Shinobu
Sakuya can work if you’re extremely hard pressed for options (this does not include Leila/Reira. Sorry!).
For the most basic version of this strategy, you only need one of these girls, preferably at two slots (or more). If you have to use a girl with one slot, make sure she has good damage potential at least.
If you have multiple charge gorillas and don’t know how to choose, chose the one who has the highest ATK potential. Note, however, that there is more than one way to execute this strategy, and some might find that two gorillas are better than one.
If the Chargius have avoided you, then try out Ayame. I was able to successfully use this strategy with her on my alt account. It took a lot of patience, but it works!
The Spirit Enhancement
Once you’ve chosen your loyal Chargius member, it’s time to beef them up.
You don’t need to fill out all of their SE, but anything that makes their Charge discs hit harder is a plus, and you’ll also want one of their Charge Combo Charge Count Up nodes.
Tumblr media
It should look like the above. Not all Charge gorillas give the same amount of Charge Combo+ so it might look different for each girl. You also want to get the girl’s SE Active, even if it’s useless.
One last, really really important thing to mention: the Ranking points bonus for charge combos starts at +5. You might be thinking, “hmmm. Okay, well, why does that matter? If you get all of your hits in, then you’ll hit +5 anyways.”
Well, if you kill the enemy too fast then you won’t actually get that +5-- this is especially possible on Ayame. If your Ayame is so incredibly buff that she actually kills the enemy on her first attack, even with her SE Charge Combo Count Up... she’ll get a charge bonus of +4. So basically no extra points! Get that Charge Bonus as a safety feature!
Going along that line, you get more points for every “5″ you gain in the charge combo bonus. For example, 10 will give you way more points than 9, and 15 would be waaaay better than 14. It’s still good to get as many points possible-- every little help counts-- but it’s something important to keep in mind, especially when we discuss possibly using two characters. You can check out the math here if you like. Something important to note is that a solo Chargius can’t go past 10, even for Tanabata Yachiyo with the highest +Charge Combo Count of 4. However, duo Chargius can pass it-- more on that towards the bottom.
The Memoria
Need help choosing memoria? Say no more! Here’s the no-nonsense FTP version:
Tumblr media
A Reasonable and Gentle Strategy: Attack Up [15%] & Charge Disc Damage Up [20%]
Tumblr media
My Beloved Partners in Crime: Anti-Evade [60%] & Damage Up [10%]
For Actives, use whatever gives you the most DEF stats (any from the Stat Stick tag on the Memoria Blog should work). Ideally you won’t be getting hit, but if you are, the extra defense should keep you safe.
If you don’t have the above, then some other good event reward options would be: Victory Pierces Through Time, Being Myself With Pride, Flowers Fallen Never to Return, A Usual Day of the Maidens, Mourn For I Know the Pain
If you have pretty good memoria options and don’t need to rely on event rewards, then you can experiment a little bit.
However, one thing to note is that there is a little nuance with these memoria-- you want to deal enough damage to kill the target, but you also want to at least try and get three hits off in a turn. Why is that?
Well, let’s show you the gameplay.
Murdering Rats
So, what does this super cool strategy look like? Behold!
youtube
You might notice a few things! For one, we’re using a 3-charge combo. We’re not spending the Charge bonus on an Accele or a Blast.
Here’s how you get a good score in Ranked: build a high charge combo in one turn.
Now, in this above video, the Tsukuyo killed the rat in two attacks, which isn’t ideal-- you want to get all three attacks off for a higher charge bonus. Now, as you can imagine, this will involve some effort because you want to make sure you deal enough damage to reliably kill your targets, but not so much that you kill them too quickly.
Another thing you might notice is that Tsukuyo uses her SE Active, even though it wouldn’t be helpful here. That’s because using Active abilities give you a higher score! So even if it’s useless, use that Active!
Now then... Who are we fighting?
Your Kill List
The perfect target is a Little Kyubey, aka the Rat. Why is this? Well, a number of reasons-- but the two most important reasons are:
The Rat doesn’t have a passive Spirit Enhancement node that gives it Evade. Evade is going to be a major pain in the ass, and it can cause your strategy to fail, especially if you don’t have some form of Anti-Evade.
The Rat will probably have a decent amount of HP and DEF, making it last longer in a fight= aka, meaning you have more an opportunity to get three charge disks in one attack!
However, other solo units can work. You’ll want to avoid teams that have more than one target though-- a pesky evade or a character who just takes more damage than you thought can mess you up and cause you to lose. You want guaranteed wins here!
Things to look out for with solo units:
Does this character have a chance to evade passively through their Spirit Enhancement? Characters like Homura, Ashley, and Yozuru can be tricky due to this. Additionally, all the passive evade memos available right now are two to three stars. Thanks to this, you can fight Rats with 70k+ bsts with the peace of mind that they won't evade. This will unfortunately change after this ranked.
How much Teampower does this character have? Higher teampower for a solo = more Defense and HP, meaning more opportunity to use three charge discs instead of two! Conversely, if your Attack is on the lower side, lower teampower might be a safer option!
Does this team have enough Teampower for me to fight them? If you see another player using Chargius strategies, make sure they have a high enough team power, particularly if you encounter a solo Ayame. Solo Ayame tends to give x1.15 instead of x1.2 thanks to her low stats. Make sure you aren’t fighting low power teams!
Is there anyway this enemy can make my Chargius deal less damage? If the solo target is a Nanaka and you’re using Ayame, be a little cautious-- especially if your Attack is pretty low.
Also, in general, avoid Ashley. She tends to be pretty beefy and it’s a nightmare if her Evade passive works. Additionally, if she somehow survives turn one, you’re going to be in some trouble: she deals a large amount of damage and has an Active she can use that allows her to Anti-Evade, meaning that you can’t rely on your own character’s Evade passive (if they have it).
When in doubt, the safest option is always The Rat. Note: I did see one tricksy individual use a passive Evade memoria on their Rat... But that’s rare.
How are you finding all of these Damn Rats????
The BP Pot change! As of last Ranking, you can now use BP Pots to cycle through your opponents! You might need to skip a LOT of teams, so ensure that you have an adequate amount of BP pots. I spent about 50ish last time cycling through, but it’s possible you’ll need to spend more, especially if you’re only targeting solo Kyubeys.
Do note that it’ll be harder to find good solo enemies the higher you rank up-- people will begin to take their battles more seriously, and solo Rats don’t make it into A-Rank. Additionally, it’s possible you might even come across other Chargius teams!
Now You’re Cooking With Charge: Two Girls Are Better Than One
You may have noticed that in the beginning, I said that you might choose two charge gorillas over one. Why is that?
Well, let’s bring up this link again and talk about Charge Combo Numbers. Using the bottom row as an example, you can see the multiplier increases by 0.01 from 5~9 charges, from 2.55 to 2.59, but suddenly jumps to 2.65 at 10.
Why are we bringing this up? Well, even if you use a Tanabata Yachiyo (who gives +4 for her charge combo count), you won’t be able to hit 10 on a solo Chargius. That’s where using two units comes in.
First off, this tactic requires you to have one of two characters:
Tanabata Yachiyo
Sae Kirino
This is because both of them have Charge Draw as a Spirit Enhancement Active. There’s no point in using two charge gorillas only to get AACCB for your disks-- you need that charge combo! So only folks with the above units can attempt this strategy.
For example, last Mirrors I used Tanabata Yachiyo and Tsukuyo together and it worked like a charm! However, also note that you’ll want both characters to have good memoria equipped plus their Spirit Enhancement filled out. Also, an additional difficulty is that you won’t have a Puella Combo when you use two characters, so your damage will be lower.
If you go this route, be sure to practice practice practice ahead of time in normal Mirrors! Always make sure you can win a fight-- if you can’t (let’s say your Tanabata Yachiyo or Sae only have one slot and don’t deal enough damage) then there is no shame in going back to using a solo Chargius.
In Conclusion
Good luck! The borders are always higher on the first day compared to the last, so don't worry if you're not in A immediately. As a closing thought, always prioritize winning a battle-- play around with your memoria and units to try and get as many charge combo points as possible, but always make sure you actually win the fight. You don’t want to shoot for three attacks, only to not kill the enemy at the end of them.

LoZ AU- The Courage of Running Away Part FOURTEEN
You’ll see why this one took a while in just a second, I did that thing where I drew a whole ass scene again

#LoZ AU: The Courage of Running Away
So while Link is getting acclimated to Castle life and getting hugs from Marla and Tonbo (and also getting unofficially adopted by the royal family) Astramorus flies back to the Sky Temple with his loftwing.
And he has a lot of time to think while he’s doing it; I don’t know how fast a loftwing flies but even so it would have taken some hours on Hera’s back and you don’t have anything to do up there but think about why you got blasted through a wall by a god-queen.  So he gets back and he’s feeling pretty fucking subdued when he hands Hera off to the Sky Temple commune’s gardener/bird caretaker, Maurice.
Tumblr media
[Image description:  Astramorus, looking tired and still missing his hat, his hair a mess, is standing opposite a short and round mustached man with bushy eyebrows dressed in the same priestly robes, except that this man has his sleeves shortened to his elbows and is wearing thick gloves.  This man is holding Hera the loftwing by a lead, while she makes a particularly vacant happy face.  “NAYRU’S EYES, man, WHAT HAPPENED?”  Astramorus gives a very small smile, and after a pause, answers, “TURBULENCE.”  The man harrumphs skeptically, then says, “Well, LORD SERENUMBRA from the LORULEAN ORTHODOXY showed up three days ago and he’s been giving me ADVICE ON MY TOMATOES, so turbulence or OTHERWISE I’d appreciate you DISTRACTING HIM before I commit some WEEDING.”  Astramorus smiles.  “Ah,” he says in understanding.  “Yes, thank you for your PATIENCE, Maurice.”  End ID.]
A note on Maurice, originally I was going to make him look like Gaepora OR Rauru and then Ice suggested basing him on Maurice-Belle’s-Dad and I liked that, so I blended the ideas a bit.
I think I’ve mentioned that Lorule and Hyrule have different takes on the Hylia religion, haven’t I?
Basically since this Lorule is just the country south of Hyrule instead of a dark-mirror-universe world, Invid suggested that part of the idea might be that Lorule insists that Hyrule is wrong about which country the Golden Goddesses left the world from, and that the Triforce belongs there instead.  I kind of played with that a little further, and so now part of the thing is that their royal line is actually also descended from Hylia directly, except that at some point a sister broke off from (one or the other of) the royal family, founding the Hilda line versus the Zelda line.
And real quick here’s the Hilda of this story, which I promise is relevant:
Tumblr media
[Image Description: Sketches of a tall, black haired woman with pale skin and blue eyes and extremely long pointed ears, dressed in a cape and dress of purple, dark blue, red and gold.  She wears a blue and green belt trimmed with gold and black gloves, and a diadem featuring a red gemstone and golden spread wings.  There is an inverted Triforce symbol on her sash.  She is also wearing black lipstick and red blush and eyeshadow.  A sketch to the side shows her making a decidedly less dignified expression with the note “All the finery and rouge is a desperate attempt to fool you into thinking Hilda is in her twenties but she’s only actually seventeen, same as Link.”  Another sketch shows her next to an old man with round glasses and priestly robes different to the Hyrulean priests, who only comes up to her chest.  She has her hands on her hips and is ranting at him.  A note reads, “Hilda TOL.”  End ID.]
Anyway the thing is that currently, the two churches are relatively peaceable with one another, they have joint gatherings to quibble about tradition and who should be allowed to have what sacred treasures and who has to bring the roast boar next time, and that is how a very young novice Astramorus ended up as friends with the man he would eventually match in equivalent rank, Lord Serenumbra.  Who gets a nice picture equivalent piece to Astra’s introduction because of symmetry:
Tumblr media
[Image Description: The same short priest from the picture with Hilda.  He has white loosely curly hair, circular gold glasses, a hat similar to Astramorus’s but in red, a dark red robe over a black underdress, both trimmed in gold, and is wearing a heavy golden neck piece with an inverted Triforce and golden wings framing a blue disc.  To the side are various comic panels; in the first, he has taken an extremely young Astramorus’s hand and is saying, “Let me be the first to CONGRATULATE you, my friend!”  In the second, he’s spread his arms wide while approaching Astramorus and Catena, Link’s mother.  “Let me be the first to CONGRATULATE YOU, my friends!” he’s saying, and Catena laughs, giving Astramorus a rough side hug that lifts him off his feet despite her only coming to his chest, while Astramorus gives her a gooey smile.  “TOO LATE,” she says, “I told my mum first,” and laughs.  In the last panel, Astramorus has collapsed limp into a chair at a dining room table, his hair in his eyes, his face wet with tears, propping his head on one arm as Serenumbra pats his shoulder from behind the chair.  “Let me be the first to say,” Serenumbra says, “How DEEPLY SORRY I am, my friend.”  End ID.]
This is awful but that’s currently my favorite picture of Astramorus.
Serenumbra’s design is based on the priest and philosopher from ALttP and Link Between Worlds; the philosopher’s robes were red so I sorta priestified them.  The blue disc in the center of his neck piece represents the Moon Pearl from ALttP, which was actually red in the game but blue in some of the promotional materiel, and the blue was a nicer contrast.  The Moon Pearl was mostly important because it let Link run around in his human form in the Dark World but I always liked it because it was sort of weird and mysterious.  In Four Swords Adventures there’s actually a LOT of moon pearls and they let you make portals between the worlds.  There isn’t going to be a lot of world hopping in this AU, I just thought it was interesting context.
Anyway here’s two old friends having a conversation, image description and a little more commentary plus some bonus poking at Astramorus at the end:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image Descriptions: Astramorus is entering a room with a rounded door and a coat rack on the wall.  “Seren?” he calls.  “ASTRAMORUS, are you QUITE all right?” Serenumbra answers.  He is sitting at a round table in the center of the room; there are two dining chairs, one of which he is sitting in, and opposite of him is a comfortable looking rocking chair.  “I came because I heard about your SON, have you still not found him?”  Astramorus, looking deeply pained, straightens some of his hair with one hand.  “I found him,” he says.  He settles into the rocking chair with a long creak.  Serenumbra is clearly shocked by his demeanor.  “Astra,” he says, concern clear in his face, “What HAPPENED?”  Astramorus stares at the ceiling while looking like death warmed over.  There is a panel fading from light to dark to indicate the passage of time, then we see that Serenumbra has a hand to his mouth in thought.  “So the queen refuses to see the DANGER here,” he says.  Astramorus has folded his hands together.  “She’s right about my SON, though,” he answers.  Serenumbra is quick to defend Astramorus to himself: “Well- he’s such a SOFT BOY, you wanted him PREPARED,” he begins, but Astramorus stops him.  “I pushed him too hard, too SOON, and with too little CARE.”  Astramorus lifts his hands and grins painfully, continuing, “WHAT was I DOING, trying to teach him how to FIGHT when all I knew was an ADULT’S routine?”  He puts a hand to his chin, still smiling.  “I must be the STUPIDEST MAN ALIVE.”  “Astra,” Serenumbra begins again, and Astramorus interrupts again.  “My wife used to tell me I WORRIED too much, did I ever mention that?”  He asks.  His face turns solemn.  “It was even one of the LAST THINGS she said to me,” he says.  We get a glimpse of young Astramorus and Catena together backlit by the sun; she’s wearing a blue version of the classical Link costume with a sword strapped to her back and plate armor on her shoulders, he’s wearing his priestly robes and hat.  She’s reached up to grab his face, grinning, while he’s put his hands on hers.  “And then she died,” Astramorus says.  He sits up, animate once more.  “What else could I DO but worry?!” he demands.  “You’ve studied the legends, same as I-” he subsides again- “That mark on Link’s hand may as well be a DEATH SENTENCE.”  He puts a hand on his face.  “And I’ve so THOROUGHLY FAILED him that now I’ve put the Royal Family in danger TOO.”  Serenumbra puts a hand to his chin, thoughtfully.  “WELL, you never KNOW,” he says, “Princess HILDA is more of an age with Link, maybe the Triforce of Wisdom will arise in the LORULEAN line this time.”  Astramorus laughs.  “That doesn’t change the SITUATION, Seren,” quietly adding “But also KEEP DREAMING.”  He then puts his hand to his mouth.  “How do I even BEGIN to atone?” Astramorus asks.  “Ahh, old friend,” Serenumbra answers, soothingly.  “If only Catena were still WITH us, she’d know how to ease the boy’s burden.  Why-she’d face down GANON HIMSELF if it came to that!”  Astramorus makes an intense face, as if he’s been suddenly burdened.  Serenumbra stands and puts a hand on his shoulder.  “Get some REST, dear friend, you still look TERRIBLE,” he says with a smile.  Astramorus is wringing his hands, staring forward.  End ID.]
DUMBASS BRAINCELLS ENGAGED.
I didn’t expect “Got pegged by his wife so hard that the mere invocation of her name knocked him back to his senses after over eleven years of fucking shitty behavior towards their son” to be on the bingo card for this character when I started this project either, but this is Draft 0.5 so anything can happen XD
Astramorus is so layered now what the fuck!
Tumblr media
[Image Description: Serenumbra, face full of concern, asks, “Astra, what HAPPENED?”  Astramorus stares at the ceiling like death warmed over.  Behind him are the words “HELLO DARKNESS MY OLD FRIEND.”  End ID.]
Tumblr media
[Image Description: Serenumbra, face full of concern, asks, “Astra, what HAPPENED?”  Astramorus stares at the ceiling like death warmed over.  Behind him are the words “WELL FIRST OF ALL I FUCKING DIED.”  End ID.]
Tumblr media
[Image Description: Serenumbra, face full of concern, asks, “Astra, what HAPPENED?”  Astramorus stares at the ceiling like death warmed over.  Behind him are the words “...my wife made this chair.”  End ID.]
Catena got into carving as a hobby during long trips but she started making furniture while dealing with nesting urges while pregnant, so imagine this little tank of a woman assembling a rocking chair for her tol noodle husband while ranting about her weird cravings.

4K Ultra HD Review: Scarface
Tumblr media
With Scarface, the immense talents of three icons of American cinema - director Brian De Palma (Carrie, Mission: Impossible), writer Oliver Stone (Natural Born Killers, Platoon), and star Al Pacino (The Godfather, The Irishman) - coalesce in a rare way that works on every level. It's based on Armitage Trail’s 1930 novel and its 1932 film adaptation of the same name, along with the then-contemporary cocaine wars in Miami. While De Palma's vision takes place in a heightened reality, Stone (who was struggling with his own cocaine addiction at the time) researched Miami police records to ensure accuracy.
The 1983 classic clocks in at nearly three hours, but the story's momentum never falters. Tony Montana's (Pacino) character arc is a warped perspective of the American dream by way of Dante's Inferno. Refusing to settle for being a low-level hitman after coming to Miami from Cuba, the volatile, arrogant gangster works his way up the ranks to become drug kingpin. It culminates in an operatic hail of bullets, showing that fame and fortune can be taken away just as swiftly as it can be attained.
Tumblr media
Despite casting a full-blooded Italian as a Cuban lead, Scarface remains a shining moment in Pacino's five-decade career full of outstanding performances. A relatively unknown Michelle Pfeiffer (Batman Returns) co-stars as Tony's love interest; she has since been vocal about being treated more like a prop than an actor. The cast also includes Steven Bauer (Ray Donovan), Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (The Abyss), Paul Shenar (Raw Deal), Robert Loggia (Big), F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus), and Harris Yulin (Ghostbusters II). Cinematographer John A. Alonzo (Chinatown) captures each actor in all their glory through a vibrant ‘80s lens.
Much has been noted about the film's glorification of crime, particularly upon its initial release. A decidedly different kind of gangster story than the original film or even the influential works of Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola, Scarface features chainsaws and high-power guns used as weapons. It originally received an X rating, but De Palma was able to persuade the MPAA to give it an R. It also held the record for most uses of the word "fuck" in a film (at 207) for several years. Gratuitous though it may be, the graphic violence adds to the intensity.
Tumblr media
Scarface has been restored in 4K with High Dynamic Range and a DTS:X master audio track for Universal Pictures' recent 4K Ultra HD release. The presentation is immaculate, with crystal-clear picture that never sacrifices the inherent film grain. "The World Is Yours" limited edition gift set is also available; in addition to the film on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, the handsome set includes the 1932 version of Scarface and a replica statue, which has some heft to it.
In addition to the fresh scan, the new release boasts an exclusive special feature: a 35th anniversary conversation with De Palma, Pacino, Pfeiffer, and Bauer from the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival. Given the limited time (the edited version runs for 27 minutes), the moderator’s questions are not particularly thoughtful, but the filmmaker and cast have plenty of interesting anecdotes to share. The casual chat sees them open up about beating the rating board, the record-setting F-bombs, and a potential remake, among other topics.
Tumblr media
Archival special features are ported over. Scarface Phenomenon is a three-part retrospective from 2011 in which cast, crew, and notable admirers such as filmmakers Eli Roth (Hostel) and Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) and Cypress Hill rapper Sen Dog discuss the film's legacy. In The World of Tony Montana, DEA agents and entertainment journalists break down the character's criminal lifestyle. The Rebirth, The Acting, and The Creating are a trio of featurettes from 2003 in which cast and crew detail the making of the film over the course of 55 minutes. Deleted scenes, a comparison showing the humorous dubbing in the film’s censored television cut, and The Making of Scarface: The Video Game round out the extras.
As mentioned, the original Scarface is featured in the limited edition set. Produced by business magnate Howard Hughes, the first take on the material is directed by Howard Hawks (The Thing from Another World) and written by Ben Hecht (Notorious). Like De Palma's version, it's quite violent for its time, and the censors insisted it glorified crime. As such, it opens with title cards declaring the film an indictment of gang violence and challenges the government's perceived indifference toward it.
Tumblr media
The skeleton of the plot is the same in both adaptations - tracking the meteoric rise and subsequent fall of a ruthless gangster - but the details are altered. Paul Muni (I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang) stars as Tony Camonte, a Tommy gun-toting bootlegger reeking havoc during prohibition. He was a proxy for the infamous Al Capone, who was still active when the film was made. Muni plays the role fairly broadly, but he has the charisma to pull it off. Boris Karloff (Frankenstein) appears as a rival gangster.
Housed on its own Blu-ray disc, the 1932 version of Scarface is included in both its original, 93-minute theatrical cut and alternate censored version, which actually runs two minutes longer. It also has special features: an introduction by Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne and an alternate ending, in which Tony is tried and hanged for his crimes.
Tumblr media
Scarface's cultural impact is immeasurable; "Say hello to my little friend!" is one of the most-quoted lines in cinema history, the film's iconography has been adopted by the rap community, and its posters and merchandise remain plastered in dorm rooms around the country. The picture remains so ingrained in pop culture that it's easy to lose sight of what propelled its status in the first place, but one viewing of the new 4K restoration is an instant reminder that the film is deserving of every bit of praise it has received.
Scarface is available now on 4K Ultra HD via Universal Pictures.

“Sicario: Day of the Soldado” (2018)
Drama/Thriller
Tumblr media
Running Time: 122 minutes
Written by: Taylor Sheridan
Directed by: Stefano Sollima
Featuring:  Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Jeffrey Donovan, Isabela Moner, Catherine Keener, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo
Alejandro: [to Isabela] “You have no reason to trust me, but trusting me is how you’re going to survive.”
Critical Commentary:
There is no doubt in my mind that the release of “Sicario” (2015) three years ago not only announced a few new talents but also solidified quite a number more in front of, as well as behind the camera, it also was possibly the most underrated film of that year. It should have scored multiple Oscar nominations but for the most part flew under many peoples radar which is a crime. On the surface it was a film about drug cartels, revenge as well as the journey of a young idealistic DEA agent, of course it was much more than that as well as a precursor to the unruly politics that would follow just a year later. It also stated that the war on Mexico was just beginning, one that would not only rage at the border but on nightly television, ultimately right now in the White House itself. “Sicario” was that rare breed of film that had at its heart a female protagonist surrounded by men who were undermining her at almost every point, it had a well thought out plot as well as an almost CinĂ©ma vĂ©ritĂ© narrative but with a look that was stunning in its widescreen lushness and not afraid to, at times pull back for the big picture eschewing star power and good looks for some kind of grittiness even though at times it was still a Hollywood film. The one aspect of the film that was overwhelming was that I know when I saw it I wanted more, now three years later the sequel has arrived, “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” (2018).
On the surface this sequel may seem like a real mixed bag, undoubtedly the star of the first film has returned in Taylor Sheridan the screenwriter, who has gone from strength to strength in his career having written the magnificent Oscar nominated “Hell or High Water” (2016), writing and directing his magnificent noirsh “Wind River” (2017) as well as the upcoming series “Yellowstone” (2018). Also returning are the definitely now great character actors, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Donovan in the same roles. Unfortunately there is a downside with the loss of Denis Villeneuve, Emily Blunt, Daniel Kaluuya, Roger Deakinsand Jóhann Jóhannssonare all not returning which does lessen the impact of the sequel but it is still a fascinating affair to be sure. What is great to see is that new fresh talent has replaced these non returnees to the betterment of the film overall.
“Sicario: Day of the Soldado” has been directed by Stefano Sollima an Italina filmmaker who is possibly best known for directing a large proportion of the series “Gomorrah” (2014 – ) based on the film of the same name, so the subject matter is not far removed from this new film. The great aspect of both films was to have foreign directors in charge as it always seems to be a benefit to politically charged movies, that to have someone removed from the situation in charge, opens up the narrative as well as the plot in ways someone who has a stake in the subject matter might do. This is accentuated by the look of the film, here Deakin’s has been replaced by Ridley Scott’s long-time cinematographer Dariusz Wolski who like his predesscor is an expert at creating both interior as well as exterior palate that are not only original but subject sensitive and eye catching.
The film is set fter discovering that Mexican drug cartels are smuggling terrorists across the United States border, the CIA sends Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) and former undercover operative Alejandro Gillick (Benicio del Toro) to eliminate the problem. They kidnap Isabela Reyes (Isabela Moner), the daughter of a drug lord, in a false flag operation designed to incite war between rival cartels. The mission goes awry when it is discovered by the Mexican government, prompting Graver to order Reyes’ death; when Gillick refuses, he turns rogue to protect her as Graver assembles a new team to hunt them both.
The quality of the leads goes without saying in Oscar winner Benicio del Toro who has become one of the great character actors as well as someone who can play physically imposing men that with the subtly in his face can play deep emotion, while Josh Brolin has aged well into his middle age and someone who knows how to build a character from the ground up, one need only look at his increasingly complex roles over the past five years to see the evidence in that. While they are both playing the same characters from the first film, it is del Toro who is the one with real growth especially when thinking about his arc from “Sicario”. Added to the mix are Isabela Moner, Catherine Keener, Mathew Modine, Shea Whigam and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo who all play new characters designed to reinvigorate the film with the light shining directly on Moner as the maguffin of this new story. Moner has to show a range of very tough emotions as well as starting her character in one place of dominance but winding up with her persona changed in a very extreme way with layers peeled back for all to witness. The other relative newcomer is Manuel Garcia-Rulfo who like his co-star is a changed character from beginning to end, something that is a very rare to witness not just in film but also for minority characters that are normally marginalised or reduced to stereotypes. All of the actors do incredibly nuanced work with material that is not only complex but much of the narrative just have been found in the edit so to see performances as good these is rare indeed.
There is no doubt that this is a narratively as well as plot heavy film that rewards those that stick with the complex goings on within the story, following different characters at different times with varying objectives as well as never losing sight of the human drama at the core of this challenging piece of work. The ways in which the story begins to unfold on different fronts of the world may seem scattershot but they are executed in a way that the audience witness how in the dark, law enforcement can be losing sight of the people they are trying to protect so that lines are blurred between the good of the many against destroying the rights and loves of the few, especially when we are talking about cross border skirmishes. For me the key to the film is the returning character of Alejandro Gillick who as we know from the previous entry lost his family to the drug war in particular one cartel leader who is one the plot points of this film. In fact the key scene and one I imagine the writer loved creating involves sign language, a family in the middle of nowhere and a small explanation of his past which for me was one of the two best scenes of the movie. This is a film loaded with meaning as well as motivations of everyone involved, one scene sees Matt Graver going to meet the Secretary of Defence a comment is made about him being sunburnt as he is always in the field carrying out covert actions. The next scene we see a roomful of Generals and politicians, it is easy to see the pale faced men who make decisions sending the tanned men out into the danger to do the dirty work, something that should not be lost on viewers especially as we hear and see these politicians changing their minds on a whim without a thought of those doing the work in the field. It could also be seen as a comment on those holding high office especially the Presidency who have never served in their life.
As far as this years films go “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” is one of the best so far, it is a truly great sequel that stands on its own in every way. It transcends the first film in that it is about so many elements of not only human nature but incorporates social, political and personal issues that are as relevant today as they have ever been. We see the fingers of the White House through an unnamed President who fears impeachment over public support or anything else, sound familiar? Another important aspect of the film that cannot be underestimated is the mix of genre that takes place within its narrative, at points it is a road movie, a drama, a political movie, a thriller and at times even has some comedy, it melds all these genres into one coherent narrative that never lets up from its shock beginning to its almost ultimate conclusion that is at once revealing, shocking but expected.
This is a film that must be seem and seen on a big screen it takes risks with its plot and narrative which pay off for the audience it is almost all believable in its own way with nary a false move which is something to behold. Even though it is missing some key figures in front of as well as behind the camera, the screenwriter has wisely pivoted the plot to make it more of an original movie with familiar characters than attempting to make it a fully fledged sequel which seeing this movie now would have been a major error. I recommend this even for those that have not seen the first movie as it stands on its own in almost all ways which is not something that can be said of all movies even though that is how it should be, something that has been lost over the past few decades.
Technical Commentary:
Video:
“Sicario: Day of the Soldado” arrives onto 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with an upscaled 2.40:1 2160p transfer with HDR10 from a 2K digital intermediate. Dolby Vision is not an option on the disc. While upscaled, the image offers a notable uptick in detail clarity over the 1080p Blu-ray – in particular for close-ups and middle shots.
With HDR10, the image enjoys a kick in the primaries without overdoing things. Reds, blues, and the abundant yellows throughout all see some nice enhancements.
While that is a plus for Dolby Vision, a negative is in some of the night sequences things just look too dark. The brief scene where the Spec-Ops team halo jumps in the middle of the night to capture the smuggler Bashiir is an example. That scene in HDR10 is still dark, but light enough that you can actually make out some of the details of the soldiers as they fall. Dolby Vision goes dark almost to the point where they’re shadowy blobs falling from the sky. Regardless, this 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray is a solid effort from Sony and provides a clean and clear improvement over the 1080p disc.
Audio:
On 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” is upgraded to a full object-based Dolby Atmos mix.
Dialogue is well balanced throughout and, like the DTS-MA 7.1 mix, Hildur Guðnadóttir’s score offers some great mood and atmosphere pumping up those low LFE tones giving that creepy dissonant vibes. Levels are spot on without any softness issues or need to raise the volume higher than you normally would.
