!!!!!! BUG GUY HERE i have two mantids it couldve been! the description you gave sounds more like a golden praying mantis (hierodula venosa) --

-- with my one thing being these fellas are native to areas like malaysia and thailand, and i cant find any data on them being in ukraine; doesn't make it impossible though! and also i just realized i assumed you live in ukraine when you very well might not LMAO. in terms of mantids i could find that are native to areas around ukraine, there's iris polystictica --

-- which arent very yellow so i assume it wasn't one of em, but still pretty!! hope you dont mind the bugs :)

I cant really confirm or deny if venosa is the one, but considering it's area and just it kinda looks like the one I saw was chonkier lol it's unlikely correct, though the general size from what I could find seems close enough

(Also cackled over a name of ameles taurica which is for some reason is called crimean little mantis, or like, cute mantis? Why, why did you need to emphasize it's goofiness in its name? There is probably a reason behind it but I did not look into it, that's a discovery for another time)

If I match with a specific area where I live and, and with that, where I found it, only two ones match up, which are your aforementioned Iris polystictica and also a common/european mantis.

Really the best guess is that it is a european mantis, cause I found some info on them having yellow coloring on them. Or we can go batshit insane and say it was a european mantis with xanthochromism, thank you for sending this ask, it was fun
