fuck the rock and dc's marketing team because no one fucking mentioned hawkman was gonna be in black adam and i saw like barely anything except the rock beating people up and saying one liners in the trailer. this is what i'm pretty sure is hawkman's first time on the big screen AND he's black and no one said shit about this ???? it's like they genuinely hate making money. and he's not the only character they could have used as a draw to get asses in seats. but no. i find out while my family is mid movie and i walk thru the living room like "is this black ada- HAWKMAN???????"

Since your mainly a dc blog, I think comics divisions of companies don’t really work with adaptators often these days. I have a running theory that dc presume Damian would stay dead after Morrison’s run and be a one note character in Batman mythos. Then WB animation came along and told them that Damian is the Robin for dcma. Thus why he still around, make sense?

Damian permanently dying in Batman Inc was fully Morrison's intentions and plan since the day they created him, however even though they were Damian's creator, they don't have full ownership to his character or a say to what will happen to him after they're done writing him.

Damian was brought back simply because he has already become a very popular character with a prevalent presence in Batman's comics, so it was foolish on their part to think that they can just treat him as a one note character after all of these years and again, killing him was solely Morrison's decision. In fact Tomasi and Gleason both said they didn't like what has been done to him and that they wanted to waste no time undoing his death, which is why he only stayed dead for 2 years before coming back.

It actually makes me wonder if the reason his death was taken so seriously in-universe and why we saw so many characters mourn him on-panel (which is rare to see in comics in modern-day) is because other writers genuinely thought he wouldn't come back and wanted to give him a proper send-off?

As for your theory......I can see why you would think that since Damian died in the comics one year before the released of the first movie with him, but I think its safe to say that WB animation don't have any type of authority over what happens in the comics, especially for the sake of the DCMU, whose movies lose all hype just a couple of months of after getting released and its not like the SoB movie was THAT much of a hit.

Maybe it’s because I grew up with these shows and not the movies, but sometimes I feel the DCAU is so much better than the DCMU. The colors are bright, the longer run time allows for filler and ample character development. . . Same with the x men shows and Avengers: Earths Mightest. I know big screen movies are epic but tv gets so shafted

Yeah, it's something I've come to realize with these cinematic universes. You only get FRAGMENTS of character interaction and adaptations of these characters and their stories, with the space between each movie (and show) being used to fill in any and all blanks.

like 6.5/10? it just doesnt work bc of all the different textures, it's denim, mesh, leather, satin... like it's too much

this is like an 9/10. i like it and it actually works well together (surprising for her tbh) the only thing i'd change is the skirt length, it's at that awkward length for her and it looks a little too long but not on purpose, like fully by accident lol.

this is like a 7/10. same issue with the skirt length, it's just an awkward length. plus i love the matching skirt and jacket, but go all in and wear the matching top, dont back out and break it up with a plain black top. it falls flat that way to me.

like a 8.5/10. this would've been perfect without the shoes that doesnt match at all and are a completely different pattern than the rest of the outfit lol, plus she needs to drop the ankle boots.... it's not 2013 anymore girlie wear a different shoe

like i will say that "grew up thinking superman and wonder woman were the peak of coolness, gets to bang both of them as an adult" is a very funny and deserved trajectory for my beloved jason todd he deserves a super sandwich, but also dcmu!verse where he doesnt know who these people are and just came back to life angry and seething is also really good. stumbles face first into the best people on planet earth and they decide "oh this angry lil beefcake needs to be reformed, time for love"

I just realized that Sionis calling Victor Zsasz "harmless" in Birds of Prey has similar energy to Flag calling Weasel "harmless" in The Suicide Squad.

The difference being we've seen just how Zsasz is not harmless. In Weasel's case the information is given in such an offhand manner it barely holds any weight, despite the nature of his crimes. And the fact that Weasel looks goofy as fuck.

This made me think of the DCMU, and how all the directors before Gunn only ever sited edgy 90s and Alan Moore comics and talked about how "Superman is boring" and "Sure, Batman doesn't directly kill, but he doesn't have to try to save everyone". These people who where chosen to direct because of their big names instead of any passion or interest in the characters. Like, Gunn actually read Suicide Squad and Peacemaker and actually wanted to adapt those characters instead of trying to immediately be "subversive" without understanding the characters in the first place.

So it's not just a fandom thing, it's all creative fields that derive from a source material, from fan works to adaptation movies, are only really good when they're made by people who actually know and love the source material.

Honestly kinda of the belief that the more you know about the source material, the more fun it is to treat it like a piñata at a frat party.

Absolutely man! The best way to deconstruct and mess with something is first knowing the base of what you’re messing with!

Its how I believe all fandoms should be explored by. comics in particular have SO many different versions and iterations of that character that you have to wait and pause at the store to choose one of the 18 differently colored but otherwise identical piñatas. You then can take your bat and swing at that version of the character. Pick and choose your piñata and you’ll have a grande ol time

My personal opinion about The Suicide Squad (2021)

(Spoilers kinda)

Honestly I feel like it could’ve been better ngl. Like the overall plot was lacking for me, I wish the characters would’ve had an intro like they did in SS just for those who have really no clue who or what certain characters are known for or do. Obviously there’s good and bad parts in both movies but surprisingly I prefer to watch Suicide Squad (2016) I think.

Don’t get me wrong there were some funny parts but a lot of it was basically just filler I think. I appreciate the gore and language, but I also feel like it was slightly over done. Like every other word was a swear word or a dick joke or something of the sort.

Another thing I thought was lacking a little was the score/soundtrack. I really enjoyed the soundtrack for Birds of Prey and Suicide Squad but this one kinda let me down.

One thing I actually did like and thought was very creative was the usage of certain objects be it leaves or fire etc. to let us know time stamps or what event was going to take place (ie. operation Harley, 8 minutes earlier etc.)

I did love the actors and actresses and thought they played their roles pretty well, however I felt like some of the characters didn’t really get development or get to show the range of their abilities. (Loved King Shark omg 🥺🥺 and obv Margot and Joel played their characters to a T)

I also think some of their dialogue was unusual?? Or like bland idk. Somethings were just off there to me

Along with that I’m upset at how many of them died and how quickly they died, I know it’s in their name “the Suicide Squad” but it hurt my heart.

My overall rating: 5.2/10

I enjoyed it okay but I probably wouldn’t watch it again and again like I do the other movies.

Edit: I also just thought??? When did Harley learn to swim???? Because she was submerged in water/fluid at least twice in this movie

Just saw the new Suicide Squad

It was really good! I genuinely hope if they make another they have James Gunn direct again, dude knows what hes doing and how to make a damn good comic book movie.

I was under the impression that Tony paid for everything once SHIELD collapsed. SHIELD was certainly government funded, but I thought Tony was responsible for the new compound, which was he was the dominant force behind the Sokovia Accords and the cooperation efforts with the US and the UN. I also didn't consider the Avengers law enforcement, since a big MCU plotpoint is that they're extrajudicial and completely ungoverned.

Also, I thought the Justice League was allied with and partly funded by the UN? At least, in the pre-Crisis animated series/movies, they definitely were. (The DCMU is its own can of worms and definitely not cohesive enough to be comparable to the Avengers.) Bats talks about the UN working with the Watchtower. (Which I also thought B used the UN to do, since Bruce Wayne or Wayne Industries launching it independently would raise waaay to many eyebrows.)

My interpretation could be completely off, though. I do very much agree about Cap and Nat though - Nat at least makes sense, since she's an ex-Soviet asset anyway, why would she look out for anyone else? But Cap? Nah, he doesn't give a shit about anyone else (at least in the MCU - leaving Bucky behind proved that. Idk about his animated/comic appearances.)

One of my biggest pet peeves is the justice league being labelled as " The Avengers of DC" and its like. No? The avengers are law enforcement. The Justice League are volunteers
