Hey all, so I'm releasing my first ttrpg micro supplement. It's part of a ongoing project I'm doing to train myself to actually finish things.
I'm pretty happy with the results, not only do I have this fantastic art from @regal-bones but I've made up statblocks for three common fantasy systems, and a backstory to help you insert the spear and its wielder into your game.

Staying Classy in the Stone Age 1
Last September my long time friend Ciara mentioned the idea of running a stone age fantasy game, and in a discord server I am in, someone started a thread about paleolithic hex crawling so I decided to revisit this idea.
Classes such as the fighter need no real adaptations, all that is needed is a change of equipment list and you have someone who is capable of fighting. A magic users would be only slightly more difficult, eschewing the spellbook for various artifacts of power but again very reasonable. After that there is the thief, most skills are broadly applicable such as a backstabing or a climbing sheer surface even in the stone age, however picking locks and reading languages are not skills someone needs at that time.
There is also the cleric and despite interfacing with divinity being a very important part of the game the cleric as presented is more focused on presenting a very medieval christian understanding of what interfacing with the divine means. A major rework of the cleric would be needed for proper stone age play but that is a blog post for another day[1].
Below are rules for making thieves more appropriately stone age in osr style games by changing the skills they have access to. The following are the skills found in bx/ad&d, and what I would do to make them more befitting of the stone age, all probabilities remain the same.
Pick Pockets -> Delicate Work
Even without pockets, sleight of hand is still important, it’s just the same skill at the end of the day.
Open Locks -> Identify Plant
A thief is able to determine the uses of a plant by inexplicable instinct. An unsuccessful attempt means the thief is unable to retry until they reach a new level.
(If using these skills with DCC the thief additionally adds their Intelligence Modifier)
Find/Remove Traps -> Detect/Conceal Tracks
(If using these skills with DCC the thief additionally adds their Intelligence Modifier to Detect Tracks checks and their Dexterity to Conceal Tracks checks)
Move Silently: No change
Hear Noise: No change
Climb Walls No change
Read Language -> Commune With Animal
A thief gains the ability to speak to animals in a limited manner. Observations of the surrounding world, and general emotional states such as contention or fear can be communicated; however the human condition remains the domain of hominids. An unsuccessful attempt means the thief is unable to retry until they reach a new level.
(If using these skills with DCC the thief additionally adds their Personality Modifier)
[1] I often find myself thinking ah I just need a rewrite of the cleric class in a lot of my pondering of doing d&d in different settings, particularly in regards to people doing d&d but japanese as many people try and do. They are always like no the ninja should be a totally different class than the assassin for some reason. Like it’s really only the cleric that needs to be changed, being hit by a warrior with a maul is fundamentally not that different from being hit by a warrior with a kanabō.
Also I am not sure yet if my stone age cleric analog would have stuff related to undeath as I am not sure if elves were yet to create the curse of undeath in the stone age or if that was a copper age invention. Regardless, more elf research is needed in this regard.

When The Walls Fall
A setting generator mini game stacking a set of polyhedral dice to generate a long fallen city.

Starting with a d20, roll and record the dice result, then place on the dice drop table. Do the same with each progressively smaller die, placing each atop the tower once rolled. Each die’s result will indicate something about the city.
Once the tower falls, by chance or once you have placed the d4 at the tower’s peak, the dice will indicate two last details Total up all the fallen dice, this is how the city fell.
Where each dice fell on the die drop table will indicate something that survived the city’s death.

Worldbuilding moment. More info below the cut!
Officer Felix, a Community Resource Officer (CRO) for Ak'Dexter's Community College, DCC. A graduate of DCC himself, Officer Felix has served in the Ak'Dexter PD for two years (as is noted by a velcro sticker he wears), and has Galactic Health Service First Emergency Medical Care (GHS-FEMeC) certifications. As a CRO, Officer Felix almost never carries a pistol. He also is part of a random batch of officers testing a new wireless earpiece technology, connected directly to his mobile device! Things getting advanced in this radical year of 2008. His vest is bilingual, "Police" and "Vutz", In Generic and Ahan, respectively. Officer Felix himself is a polyglot, able to speak four languages fluently (Generic, Ahan, Vinahnder, and Xhengese, with elementary Duu + basic Byannic).
Part of a drive to make actual OCs lol lmao, picked a specific location within my world and am using it to make some characters. Also working on a uniform for Ja'Hailic-GAP cops.

Notes: SAM-258 is an interesting patient, somehow in some way he was able to enter the dreamscape in another universe, the reality had confused him with his variant and gave him the same abilities. Turns hostile when threatened, usually as sentient as PM-256, a friendly encounter at first, extremely dangerous when angry. I can't believe that my son allowed him to be the new dreamscaper, he is too irresponsible to handle the duties of being a reality jumper. Oh well... He won't do much harm to me at least... Original creator of the nightmare realm, there has to be something to deny his abilities, why does he have so much access?! This is not supposed to happen!

Notes: SLB-140 does not seem to be very hesitant to take drastic measures when it comes to this reality, I was not expecting for him to have more experience than our previous patient, then again, he is the youngest son of a very paranormal based family, I will have to give out harsher material to get more results, he isn't going to be breaking anytime soon if I don't take these chances... He does not seem to be very healthy according to ABS-389, DCC-504, and KRAFT-010. His mental health is slowly declining from self hatred and harm, he barely eats, sleeps, and never laughs or smiles considering the situation he's in... Is he turning into his variant from the Mothership universe?

Notes: There is no possible way that I am able to have contact with this Pointyhead, and it's confusing on how I am not able to. His personality is very soft, almost father-like, but has behavior close to Coco, which any wrong action regarding PM-256, SLB-140, or any of their found family, blood family, even friends causes rage in his body. If I can't have contact with Tip then something is seriously wrong, SAM-258 is blocking my access off I can feel it, his behavior recently affected Apex, the one who had created this reality as a prison, he's turning his race soft... I don't know how to solve this, this experiment would have to be shut down if we can't get much results...

Most of the time, I think creators only want to share the positive aspects of whatever they're creating.
But I have to admit, that I'm looking at the Canadian economy (and the world economy) and getting very nervous about the future, and in particular, being able to create and distribute our zine, Chthonic Crawl.
We're so tiny, that for our first issue, I paid for some of the art and other things out of my own pocket - took a big chance - and paid for the rest out of the Kickstarter revenue.
It worked! I (we) were thrilled, but as the economy continues to crater, and banks continue to push up the interest rates, which will increase unemployment, less people are going to be able to back Kickstarters or buy pictures from artists etc.
I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm worried this fledgling thing we built together is going to be an impossibility over the coming months. That makes me extremely sad. I'm also sad for the other creatives who will likely face this same reality over the coming months.
But to leave it on a bit of an optimistic note, if you're an artist, writer, map maker, zine creator, game designer etc., what do you plan on doing in the future to keep your creative projects and dreams alive?

Have you thought anymore about building a function suite on your farm?
I'm no longer available to run it, but I'd be happy to help with the design and in setting it up.
It will not be happening. This was one of my silly ideas when I bought the neighbouring dairy farm in 2018.
The dairy farm had a lot of unused land. There is a secluded sunken area about half a mile from the old milking parlour which would be an ideal site for hosting parties without causing any noise nuisance to the local community. However, the road access to the site is limited, narrow and winding. There is only one road that the milk tanker can get along, but only with a short trailer.
For a change I heeded the advice of my Business Advisor, even though I was (surprisingly) granted planning permission. I might submit a revised planning application for a smaller building to accommodate visiting guests, but without a bar and restaurant area. As the original plans were approved, there is no reason for this planning to be refused... but, DCC seem to make rules up as they go along!
