what made you choose this muse? 👀

oh?? *double eye emojis* okay, i LOVE you for asking me this question, NGL. so thank you very much for the ask, my friend!! i really do appreciate it. now, as for what made me choose this muse... let me just say that a lot of it had to do with the fact that i may or may not have had this big fixation with the batman rogues (and honestly, i still do, though it's ehhh... kind of less extreme now LOL) a few years ago because i just think they're really neat, you know? like they're all meant to challenge bruce in a particular way and/or aspect, i think, and that kind of attention to detail is * chef's kiss * and i'm honestly not too sure how i came across it anymore (i thinkkk i had accessed the comics from this totally legitimate site *wink* at the time, which basically means i torrented it JSJ) but i wanted to read some comics from zack snyder's run in particular AND that is how i was originally introduced to the character. this is because he was in one of the comics related to death of the family and when i tell you that i was sort of fascinated by barton's character in there, albeit HORRFIED as well since his literal first appearance showed him in a mask made out of his deceased father's face (like seriously, WTF dude? LOLLL), i mean it.

and i think this was because there really wasn't a lot of information about him even within the comic besides that his father was this pretty monstrous guy who forced him to go on 'hunting trips' with him when he was a kid, as you all may already know, and later got killed by jim gordon... and after disappearing for some years, he came back and just. Decided to do something that's completely normal (sarcasm haha) and help the joker cut off their face??? which is an utterly INSANE plot point, of course, but i really do enjoy the more horror-based stories surrounding the batman lore so i immediately wanted to see what else i could find this character in. and much to my dismay, barton only appeared in ONE other comic besides that one before the writers were like ' welp. i guess we're done with this guy, because he's served his purpose ' LIKE OMGGG. i did not want to believe that they literally just had him be the primary antagonist in one comic, and a secondary in the other, because i honestly could see a lot of potential in him as a formidable threat towards heroes + i really wanted to know more about what EXACTLY he was making these 'dolls' of his for.

but unfortunately, the writers of dc sometimes are WACK and don't always pursue plot-lines that would be very interesting in my humble opinion / kind of subvert from the norm. so i decided, to hell with it, i was going to make him MY original character now because if they weren't going to make more content with him in it... then i will MUAHAHAH 😈 nahhh, i'm kidding, but that is pretty much what i was thinking whenever i started to develop him and basically make him into a fully-fledged person rather than just an antagonist with limited backstory to him + that was one-dimensional. anddd i wanted to delve deeper into the subject of how barton became the way he is in particular, because although his environment was most definitely a factor in his role in 'gotham's underground' now, everyone has to take full responsibility for their actions anyhow and his was to be a violent as well as overall abhorrent person. for, although the fact that he also has ASPD plays into this, it is not an excuse for any of his behaviors.

so yeah! all in all, the reasons behind why i chose the character of barton specifically to portray was because i think that the writers of DC reallyyy missed out on the opportunity of creating a complex villain and just in general doing something more with barton's character than him just simply being 'that guy who cut off the joker's face.' plusss, once i got the idea in my head that he was a blonde man with curls? it was all over for me, y'all, i'm not gonna lie. i was OBSESSED / j LMAO i'm joking, but for some reason, i could just see my current fc suiting him. and that's about all i have to say about it for right now but i hoped you liked my response to this!!

es administradora del cementerio desde hace cuatro años, pero maybe desde sus doce o diez ande junto a su papá siendo su asistonta. so conoce el lugar & el movimiento como la palma de su mano. desde el aviso del hospital o la policía por un fallecido mas, hasta los aniversarios & misas. todo! es muy comprometida con su trabajo.

also es religiosa, pero por un tema personal & la relacion con sus abuelos. una sensibilidad especial que tiene que siente a los que ya no están ( o eso cree, lol ) sus abuelitos le chamuyaron mas de eso, & pues se lo creyó, pero igual le reza a diosito & pide por la almas de todes de los que pueda ahr.

por ultimo, ama rdv. cree todas las historias aunque no deba porque su familia se la vive reprochando esas cosas. quiere quedarse & formar una familia gigante allí. se siente atrapada en el pasado, alli, y no le molesta para nada.

A clockwork apprentice Danny that has to fake Jason’s death because he accidentally meddled in the event leading up to it and now he has to act fast because he literally can hear Batman’s running steps catching up to him so in spectacular fashion Danny panics, goes “shit shit shit” and puts Jason in the ghost version of a coma but like expert level pumps him up with so much ectoplasm the kid legit dies for a hot minute there.

…It makes Batman think his kid really is dead like he is supposed to so not all is bad, the timeline is back on track.

It’s just that now Danny can’t leave Jason to be be buried in the ground like he was meant to be originally, instead he waits until no one is looking to snatch the kid up and take him with him to the infinite realms.

Jason is legit convinced he was kidnapped.

I’ve been having a particularly rough start of the year mental health wise, so I thought I’d love on myself for a little bit with this particular tag. It’s kind of hard to choose 5 stories because I actually like a lot of the things I produced this year, but I’ll try to stick to the rules. These ones are probably not gonna be in any particular order, because choosing is already hard and giving them a tiered list is going to be harder jsjs

you’re the light that i follow 

the first half of this fic i actually started writing in 2019 after i found out they had killed Joan off in young justice for no apparent reason and then proceeded to not give her a proper send off like our wonderful Joaney deserved. initially a fic purely made out of spite, “you’re the light that i follow” takes first mention simply because it helped me process some very big feelings i was trying to process in march. it was heart wrenching to finish it, but it also helped me rationalize the emotions in me and laid down the foundation for what later became my coping mechanism for dealing with grief. it certainly holds a special place in my heart. 

should’ve worshipped him sooner

this one was probably the LAST concept i managed to figure out for bluepulse week, but it’s literally my favorite one. while i really care about all of my bluepulse week fics (i think i did a pretty okay job with 2020′s bluepulse week) this one probably takes the cake, probably because i love Henry a little bit too much now. also, Bart calling Jaime “little beetle”? y’all can’t tell me that wasn’t the best fucking decision DC ever made (IT’S CANON. you can pry it off my COLD DEAD HANDS) and the line “get off my goddamn dick” is still my favorite thing i’ve ever written. i have to admit i originally didn’t like this one that much, but it really grew on me after it got such a warm reception, so thank y’all for that!

the leaving is just the same

another bluepulse week fic because i really loved bluepulse week jsjsj pretty sure i spent all my writing braincells in that one week. i love this one because i got to write betty allen-reyes a little bit, but also because it was really nice to explore the concept of the speed force as this sentient, all-knowing, all-powerful force of the universe that chooses to fuck with her speedsters on a daily basis because of reasons yet unknown to us. also, the line “she was all reyes, but her heart beat to the rhythm of bart’s own” is so good and i can’t believe that came out of my brain. also one of my favorites because it allowed me some creative liberties on where all the characters ended up and i think that’s really cool. loved the idea of Jaime as president of Kord Industries and Bart as his trophy husband after retirement. pity i stuck Bart in the speedforce cause i’m mean jsjsjsj 

of duty and fate

one of my only homestuck fics this year even when i had so many things planned for johndave week and didn’t get around to write them all. loved writing this piece because it’s also me getting one of my crossover AUs out there in the world. it doesn’t actually have any crossover in it because it’s heavily focused on the BEFORE of the story i want to write, but i still had a lot of fun writing it! the type of yearning in a high fantasy AU between a prince, heir to the throne and his knight is probably the BEST FORM OF YEARNING and I just love the idea behind this whole story. it’s come to my attention it’s a bit difficult to follow, but maybe if i ever got myself to finish writing the whole story it might be a little less complicated. then again, it’s a crossover AU, so who am i to say jsjsj

nightmares

probably the MOST self indulgent thing i’ve written after “too hot, hot damn” and this one is probably even MORE INDULGENT than “too hot, hot damn” simply because this crossover in particular makes absolutely no sense in EITHER original context. nevertheless, i love this one because it has some of my BEST writing and it has a friendship that i think would be superior if the universe hadn’t been such a coward. i keep thinking about a second part to this one, but i haven’t managed to do it. this crossover AU also spured some original content this year, so i guess not all is lost! anyways, it’s one of my favorite things i’ve written, if i’m being honest, and it has the same soft feel to it that “glitter (silent confessions)” has and i love it because of that same reason jsjs

this was actually really cathartic, i’m not gonna lie. left me feeling less angry at the world and at myself, so this was really nice! thank you for tagging me, and whoever wants to give themselves some love ABSOLUTELY SHOULD.

So, Red Hood reclutantly working alongside the Bat to take down a child trafficking ring when he is hit with a de-aging spell. It even isn’t the first time Batman encountered the end of this particular spell so he already knows the victim would have no recollection of their memories, so he protects the now child (he guessing 11 estimate age) and guides him through the panic of not being able to take off the Red Hood helmet. the one that canonically has a bomb in it (cause older Jason is a dramatic bitchTM) so like, Batman catches the child’s prying fingers and takes them away from the latches because Hood has implied the existence of a bomb and that’s enough for dread to set in his gut. Bruce gently coaxes the child to let him confirm this with a device he takes out of his belt and raises it eye level to the kid’s head. It beeps. And B feels the ground sweep out under him. Because indeed this child has a bomb to his head. (and he’s suddenly hearing another bomb go off in the distance and a warehouse and —)

anyways, B ends up taking (read kidnapping) this twelve year old to the Batcave so they can pry off the helmet and I can only picture the ANGST because this is Jason and Bruce each unaware of who the other is. Jason still lives in the streets in his mind according to him and well, according to B, he’s dead. So they start bonding, kinda awkwardly at first cuz of the helmet’s voice modulator, but Jay at that age (at any rlly) was a spitfire and like he genuinely makes B forget this is a crime lord for a second (kinda difficult to that when the kid is stuck in the helmet) but whatever. I can only see Jason being his cautious self but kinda being at ends here because he kinda does need Batman’s help to get this thing off him, so he can only, just like narrow his eyes when the Bat approaches him for a blood sample. (“Need to check for magic residue, lad.”)

(Jason’s only allows this because he has a knife he found in the clothes he’d was drowning in earlier)

As u can guess, Bruce was obviously lying and wanted to run the blood sample to see if it matched any from his database (as the Red Hood has also implied that they have met before)

Anyways Bruce just gets the alert that the blood reading was finished almost at the same time they can pry the helmet off, and because he got a little attached, he just wants to see the face of this lively if wary teenager that has the same name as his (dead) son. (he managed to pry it from him earlier, how, i dunno) It’s literally Bruce’s martyr and huge guilt-complex that goes like ‘ah yes let me see the face of a child that was failed so throughly by the people who should’ve taken care of him’. So they pry off the helmet and then Bruce feels like he’s been doused by cold water. it’s like he’s staring at the ghost of his dead son again, the image completed with ruffled hair, slightly upturned lips and blue guarded eyes that look up to him with recognition but not recognition.

Bruce immediately hardens, shuts down any hope he can feel rushing in and desperately tries to close the dam and let his confusion and rage turn into anguish. “Who are you?”

The boy—the imposter quickly tracks the 180 demeanor change and immediately goes defensive. A painfully familiar scowl appears in his face.

“I’m Jason, I already told you that, what, your old age catching up to you?”

Batman stalks closer and then the boy’s taking two steps back for every one the Bat takes. He tracks the loose outline of a hand closing in tightly around the hilt of a knife in the boy wearing his son’s face and he can only think how dare he.

“Lies! You’re not my son! Who are you?”

Heart in throat, Jason struggles to keep distance between him and the towering black shadow that’s so angry he can sense it in his very bones. He doesn’t understand.

He doesn’t.

“I-I my name’s Jason. Jason Todd. My father is Willis Todd, not—not, Batman.”

And there’s that for the little snippet. Sorry this is so disjointed😭. After that’s just the mental image of Dick cutting in with Zatanna trailing closely behind him and being all “Hey I got your message about a de-aging spell and—“ and just stopping at the scene.

Because that’s Batman towering over a clearly scared kid. Said kid using the distraction to try and stab Batman. The action clearly enraging Batman—that doesn’t make any sense?! B would never— Dick immediately sprints into action and steps in between the two.

like Dick just giving his back to the kid and not seeing. Batman clearly shaking his head in denial and snarling, treating the kid like his crime lord self and Dick not understanding. Having to receive help from Zatanna to get the kid the hell out of here (but like where would they even take him? The manor??)

Zatanna just takes them to the other side of the cave and takes note of the teenager. How he has a dead grip on a red helmet and his gaze is stuck upon it.

Meanwhile Dick has to physically restrain Batman from going after the kid and he raises his voice just enough to demand what the hell is happening?? Why is there a kid in the Batcave? …Batman??? Report. As he is demanding answers Dick had slowly loosen his grip on his dad only to now found him staring at his gauntlet’s data hologram.

The information displayed? 99.98% Match confirmed to Jason Peter Todd.

So as this is clearly pure angst, I want Jason to lash out, sticking only to Zatanna only to realize she’s the magic user that’ll quote on quote will return him back to normal.

Jason is just like on really uneven ground here, even though he doesn’t think he’s ready to retur. But then Batman is just like “Jaylad” … “Jay…” and taking off his cowl and reaching up to him and looking at him like he knows him, like he’s something fragile and precious. Which is sooo fucking jarring you can understand. Jason internally is all what the fuck

Jason just wants them to back off. Jason is an overwhelmed bean. He looks up to Nightwing for help but the man is also mirroring the Bat, domino off and eyes suspiciously bright.

Zatanna is literally the only person in the room not emotionally compromised. She’s with Jay in the ??? train.

Suddenly she looks down and there’s the little boy whose eyes are pleading in helpless confusion. Eyes practically conveying the question you can return me back to normal right?? he pointedly doesn’t rip his eyes from hers as Zatanna puts a hand on his shoulder, pretending she doesn’t notice how he trembles and wordlessly asks if he’s sure.

Bruce interrupts because information overload and he can’t compartmentalize this is too important and he and Dick stop Zatanna to which she too is ?? because that was literally what she was called for here. Dick is no help.
