The GIW catch Danny and turn him into a black slurry (they literally separated his two halves and sent him into a blender????). He escapes, the Justice League catches him and babysits him, also Denny almost eats Flash. Danny slowly regenerates himself, the Green Hunter reads his memories and the heroes realize that what they're looking at is a formerly ordinary child after the agents' experiments.

DAY 7 : HAL JORDAN

let’s talk : We’ve officially made it a week isn’t that awesome?! Okay ya like 7 days probably isn’t that amazing for some people but we gotta celebrate the little things to keep up our energy. And so far this energy isn’t looking to run out anytime. But onto Hal.

I know when I say that Hal is my least favorite Green Lantern because I simply find him boring I’ll probably be stoned by his fans but I can’t help it 😭. I just don’t see the appeal, maybe there’s still time for him and me to click but currently he doesn’t do anything for me. He’s just another white guy on the justice league of white guys. And there’s like a thousand different versions of him that do what he does maybe better? I feel like better may be taking it a bit too far.

Ugh that’s enough whining from me. I just like to voice my own thoughts on these characters I’m working on to give yall some insight. But even though I don’t exactly love him doesn’t mean I had any intentions of half assing this playlist!

music choices : I’m a huge fan of classic rock. It’s that genre where I only know the hits and honestly can’t tell you many deep cuts. But it’s such a welcoming genre. Maybe not the community since I’ve had no experiences with it. But the genre itself I feel like anybody could get into it. If pop rock and pop punk never existed I’d call this genre Pop rock cause of how easy it is to just get into the music.

That being said I wanted to pick songs that encapsulated the vibe of Hal. There are so many rock hits that I think this guy would listen to but there are even fewer hits that fit his story. Songs like danger zone and rocket man are pretty obvious fits. But songs like eyes without a face and west end girls may need a bit of an explanation.

Starting with eyes without a face. In this song idol uses the 1960s movie eyes without a face to showcase his emotional dislocation through a story about a surgeon who tries to restore his daughter’s face with features from murder victims. This song I added which was to represent parallax. With the idea of “Hal” doing whatever he can to get what he wants. Which of course isn’t the full story but we don’t got time to get into all of that.

As someone who is on the ace spectrum (demiromantic and asexual), I really like when people write about some of my favorite characters having the same sexualities as me.

I do headcanon him as demiromantic, and also pansexual.

(Down below is me explaining him being demiromantic when it comes to his feelings and also Barry + Carol...)

HOWEVER, he is... as Ollie says a space tomcat, he takes on emotions much more seriously in my hc. He can do whatever, but when it comes to how he feels romantically it became a lot harder for him to express himself romantically too. <- Trouble with love genuinely but with trying to tell people anything related with love has been a topic for him. Which is also an explaination of the acts that he does for the people he cares about because it REPLACES him trying to explain his feelngs. When you think about it, the way Hal shows his love towards people or showing that he cares comes into a lot of wild acts or making sure that he'll come to the ends of the Earth when it comes to someone. (Like in your post, which I forgot to reblog and add to it :3, in DC vs Vampires, how Hal wanted to rule the world with Barry....) ------ Unrelated but related-- While yes, he does save people, Hal is deepened through emotional bonds both platonically and romantically... (I like to take this literal, as a form of being bonded by lantern ring emotion such as Carol with holding to Star Sapphire and Barry with being expressed by HAL to hold the mantle of hope, because it took years with these two for Hal to be linked with them in some type of way -> Sorry, I'm kinda normal about the bond Carol and Hal have, there's many levels of a relationship that these two have -- Including Barry and Hal together. There's a lot of things to talk about these two.)

This first occurs with Carol. As they grew older (Teen years to Adulthood <- Before JL), it gave Hal time of falling for her. Whether it was those long talks out on drives or opening up to each other about the deeper things. Plus, bringing in the things they face together and the collaborations these two agree on or disagree or OVERALL the way they communicate through different forms when it came to both in suit and out of suit. One of my thoughts for my Demiromantic Hal hc. Not only this but they also have a deep connection together later when it comes the Star Sapphire Possessions + Hal being Reborn in Spectre while Carol has presumably moved on. Although it took a bit to figure himself out, he both cares and loves Carol in impossible ways that could be explained. Which leads me to the next case...

(I had to ramble about them... They are like the best friends ever + including Barry and Iris when they come along.)

Sharing to add on for your post... But this is ALSO an idea I've been having for a fic... But I don't have time to write it ALL because I want to make it to many chapters. Be Prepared because I like when you mention HalBarry to me, I get happy because I don't talk about it to people. I also love to hear HalBarry thoughts because I project things that people don't get much like what I'm about to write..

The way Hal feels when it comes to being in love, is partially dumbfounded, it's something that sets him back when he realizes that there's an elephant in the room. One he describes as longing in a way where he didn't know he felt this fast. When in reality it has been years since this friendship. Yes, feelings for one of his best friends. One that he's been friends with since the beginning of the Justice League formation. Which was long... His hair is grey and the smile that was once without wrinkles now forms lines whenever he smiles or laughs.. In his mind, it feels that the feelings that are coming into play feel dangerous. How it makes his palms sweat just being near Barry. How when he isn't being occupied by anything busy, he's thinking about a fond memory with Barry. How Barry makes him smile, the way everything about his friend just makes him giddy like some teenage puppy love. Something he never got to experience but god, when he's with Barry, he feels so young. That even imagining them growing old together is just one step to keeping Hal feeling so young. It's like being awkward when you have no idea where to put your hands. Especially with a friend you've had for many years. A friend who's been there by his side that Hal now begins to think an eye for god knows how many minutes. The friendship teasing between the two and the playful chases that they would take on those evenings when everything just seemed perfect. How standing on that cliff when they were younger, the intimacy of the stare they held. Their deep connection that brings Hal to appreciate every moment he's had with him. How they're practically linked in color. How hope filled the willpower that settled in his personality. That when it came to Barry, it felt like he might have something to lose. Something and someone he's lost before. He knows what it felt to lose Barry. Which one proved his love for Barry to be a lot stronger than what he first thought when it came to the last glimpse of friendship. How that bond turned into a strong form for what Hal should keep fighting for. It was so unexpected. So unexpected to be in love with your best friend.

Who is your favorite brainiac 5?

My favorite Brainy is the losh 2006 animated series Brainiac 5. I fell in love with his design right at the start. Thought he was an interesting and cool-looking girl at first. That's what happens when you watch cartoons from youtube randomly without quite understanding the english language fully😅. When I found out he wasn't a smartass girl, but a smartass boy I liked him even more. Something about androgynous characters always spoke to me.

Oh, Leaf, you absolutely did not have to send one back, thank you (😭). I'm gonna talk about one of my DC Comics OCs, Donnie, because I really don't get to talk about him a lot! Thank you again!! <3

Donnie was stolen from the hospital as a baby as part of an experiment by a group of rogue government scientists who wanted to create a living weapon they could use to wreak havoc on any threats. Even before he could walk, he was subjected to tests and half a million needle pricks from syringes full of strange substances, and the cinder brick walls of the facility where he was kept were all he knew for the longest time.

As a result of these experiments, Donnie has enhanced strength, speed, endurance, and senses, even greater than that of an Olympic athlete, as well as being highly trained in almost every form of combat and weapon you could think of.

But he refused to be used as a weapon, and the night before he was supposed to go out on his first "mission," he escaped the clutches of the people who'd made him what he was, hiding in plain sight in downtown Washington, D.C., and working as an IT consultant, just trying to keep his head down and avoid being caught by the scientists searching for their lost experiment.

Eventually, though, after hearing all the reports of Wonder Woman saving people all over D.C. and globally with the Justice League, he can't ignore the call to use his skills for good anymore and takes to Washington's streets as a vigilante called Sentinel - which is how he meets the Amazon who inspired him in the first place and, eventually, falls in love with her.

Due to his enhanced hearing, Donnie can always hear someone's heart speed up when they're lying, and this is a skill he definitely uses in his everyday life, even if he can only ever say he's "just got a sense for it".

He's always eager to try new foods and media he hasn't experienced before, since he didn't get to do much of anything growing up in the facility - so far since getting out, he really likes sci-fi movies and Thai food.

Despite all his fighting skill, he can't so much as do a cartwheel - he was trained for strength and force, not agility.

His first kiss with Diana is one of those classic "Person A is patching up Person B's wounds and scolding them before being so reckless before admitting they can't lose Person B and then they both lean in" kisses, and it's beautiful.

Donnie can't sing worth a lick, but that never stops him from trying to croon along when a song comes on that he really likes.

There's a stray cat that lives in the alleyway behind his apartment that he always leaves food out for. She doesn't technically have a name, but he always calls her Buttercup, after the main character in the first movie he ever watched.

It's Hellblazer anon again and I finished it! What an amazing read! There's a thousand positive things I could say about it but instead I'm going to rant at you about those last 50 issues. You once mentioned that Azzerello was your villain origin story....well Milligan is mine. I have never read such dogshit writing in my entire life. The fact that it was Hellblazer's last issues really bloody rubs me the wrong way as well. It was character assassination on a world wide level, no survivors, everyone was annihilated. MY GOD WHAT WAS PETER MILLIGAN THINKING?? John was sooo pathetic and old and obsessed with having a wife?! All he does in those last issues is be obsessed with boring women? Like sweetie don't you have better things to do?? Phoebe was so bland, Epiphany was genuinely the absolute worst and Milligan tried sooo hard to sell us on this weird marriage? He even went as far as to bring back Kit and get John to tell her that he loves this random chick way more than he loved Kit 😭 like wtf, Kit was so important to John, their relationship was so special and Milligan just had to shit all over it just to prove a point? Making Angie a punchline to fat jokes was disgusting and so unnecessary. Holy shit poor bloody Gemma? Everything around what happened with her was so revolting and she deserved so much better. Milligan just couldn't write good John angst so he had to absolutely destroy Gemma's character and I hate him so much for it. Not even Chas could escape the onslaught! John literally left Chas to die, the only reason he saved him is because his passport got rejected, like I'm sorry but John would not let his best mate die?! Also....where did the horror go?? It just turned into the John and Epiphany show where all they did was have sex and talk about how shit everyone else was. Speaking of, words can not describe how much I hate Epiphany. Two dimensional, written way too edgy, and her being that young just felt like Milligan was trying to act out a fantasy. I just.....hated this run with my entire being. So boring, so badly written, lacking substance and I was glad that it ended. Also I have no idea wtf that ending was but I hate Milligan for having that privilege and absolutely fucking it up. He also gets the medal for writing the absolute worst love interests. Sorry that got so long but I had to tell someone! I'm honestly just pretending that none of that was canon. Gemma forgave her uncle and became a doctor, Kit and Angie lived happily ever after, Chas got a cool new car and John got to have a pint. There, fixed it.

(I'm so sorry for answering this so late) but anon I hear you and I FEEL YOU because I was sleepless the night I finished Hellblazer because of HOW BAD those last 50 issues were. It's infuriating that this trash trainwreck had more issues than the good writers Hellblazer had??? Like???

It's genuinely one of the few runs in comics that aren't salvageable for me because it both destroys John as a character, destroys the Hellblazer lore and it's side characters and sends continuity to hell (there's so many errors I can easily list here). It's also incredibly misoginistic by vertigo standards because everyone woman on it either gets disrespected, shamed abused or FRIDGED. And the fact that DC saw the shitty work this writer did on John and was like "this is the PERFECT candidate to write a Constantine lead team Justice League Dark:) "

So my best advice is to do as I do (and Spurrier) and pretend that run doesn't exist. For me, Diggle's run is the perfect conclusion for Hellblazer (this, or the route Lemire took with John on Swamp Thong: Green Hell).

Hi sol! I’ve been interested in reading some batman comics recently but there’s so many and I was wondering if you had any suggestions? Cause I literally have no idea where to start😭😭 the only batman media I’ve ever seen is The Batman which I absolutely loved RP put his whole batpussy into that performance but that’s a convo for another day

first rule of comics the comics are not real you simply pick and choose which storylines and characteristics you like and that becomes canon to you this is allowed bc in the 100+ years that characters like batman have existed there have been hundreds of different writers and several reboots making it impossible to find any true consistencies among them

if you want to learn about the most generally accepted fanon of the characters i recommend downloading the webtoon app and reading batman: wayne family adventures. it’ll introduce you to the characters, their dynamics, and some backstory for characters like jason todd and dick grayson

after that i would go on to the batman animated movies. i believe most of them are on hbo max but you can use soap2day as well. batman: under the red hood will give you jason’s backstory and his return in detail. son of batman and batman vs robin will introduce you to damian wayne. batman bad blood will finish that storyline. i haven’t watched batman the long halloween parts 1&2 but it’s an iconic batman storyline in the comics so i’ll also recommend it. i also haven’t watched batman and superman: battle of the super sons but i’m planning to ! it’ll be damian centric. dick grayson is also a secondary character in most of these movies. i don’t think tim drake shows up at all. 💔. other honorable mentions: justice league vs teen titans (damian wayne, bruce, dick grayson) and it’s sequel teen titans: judas contract. really fun watches, most of the characterization is consistent from the batfam centric movies. it’ll give u an idea of what they’re like with other dc characters

if you want to commit to the bit: young justice season 1 will show you a lot of what dick grayson is like during his robin days and season 2 introduces tim drake and barbara gordon (batgirl) as well as dick as nightwing. the only thing with young justice is that it’s almost like an alternate timeline and fanon doesn’t really acknowledge it, a lot of the characters don’t exist or are super different in the main comic timeline, but it’s the closest to what the teen titans dynamic is like on screen AND it’s the only more recent animated batfam media that has tim drake ☹️

i also want to mention justice league: doom and justice league: dark, i think they’re great movies that showcase bruce’s abilities as batman, as a leader, and how he’s viewed by outsiders BUT they’ll be hard to digest bc there’s sooo many dc characters it could be confusing for someone new. justice league dark: apokolips war is a sequel to the first jld movie and it includes dick and damian + follows the dynamics established in the other teen titans movies i mentioned though it’s not a direct sequel to them

DC Comics

I’m trying to read more Western stuff again but remember the mountains of lore I’m returning to so I’m also into completely indie or non-superhero comics.

I got into Marvel movies which got me into Marvel comics but since I was more DC coded growing up (although I really loved 00s X-Men, I had no real grasp of it being a Marvel thing) I already shifted my taste towards a darker or grittier experience. Likewise, where Marvel does get into that…it’s nowhere in the movies so by Civil War I had the Marvel fatigue I see finally hitting the fanboys. This watered down whatever is certainly not solely phase four (and diversity)…but hmmm.

It became a Marvel exposition but that’s all to say I’ll have to learn alot more to really have a non-movie grasp of Marvel people—DC characters? I got you ! Including the obscure as I’m one of those Blerds that begged my dad to buy a $50 A-Z DC Comic Encyclopedia. One of my most prized possessions😭

Specifically though my favorite superhero is Batman. I know TOO MUCH Batman lore and actually had characters bdays in my calendar to celebrate at a point. (I was young, spare me) But yeah my favorite story arc is Batman RIP and my favorite villain is Scarecrow, Black Mask, and Solomon Grundy.

Video Games

Perfect Segway as one of my favorite games (and reason I begged my dad for an XBOX 360 was Batman Arkham City. I bought Arkham Aslyum and City pre-owned from GameStop 😭) It was the first time I felt like a real gamer (besides playing Smash on GameCube tbh) and the experience of a story and being old enough to really care and get into it made it feel exactly how those streamers playing felt).

Mortal Kombat (played since 9 up until the most recent which is 2023’s Mortal Kombat 1. I have not played cause I need a PS5🫤)

FromSoft Games (played Bloodborne, Sekiro, and love the lore of all the games. Elden Ring of course is where I’m interested most and really want to play)

Resident Hill, Silent Hill, FNAF, Bioshock etc etc etc including beyond horror

Dinner Dash, Virtual Villagers, Sims 4 😂 anything really from the 00s I was an only child with internet access…
