This fucker. As much as I like Battle of Gods, this redhead continued a trend that started with a green tinged Broly and ended with orange fucking Piccolo and a cast of otter pop flavored Super Saiyans.

At least Super Saiyan 4 wasn't just a recolor of a recolor...

Orange Piccolo

Speaking of lazy, visually unappealing, late stage capitalism embodying recolors, Piccolo is orange now. Yes I know he hasn't been relevant in a fight since his introduction in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament and briefly when Toriyama remembered against Second Form Frieza and Imperfect Cell, but it's ok, don't worry kids, HE'S ORANGE.

Third Form Frieza

Why is he a xenomorph? Why is he a xenomorph?! I guess I wasn't expecting him to be a xenomorph, which is typical for Toriyama, but WHY IS HE A XENOMORPH??? Like it's weird he's the alien from Alien, right? And it's weirder that he's almost 1:1 the pirate robot Goku fought in OG Dragon Ball

Fifth Form Cooler

Oh fuck you. You fucking piece of shit. Fifth form? You're so non-canon it hurts. This couldn't just be his second form or idk his third form, since Frieza's second form was already Cooler. But it's his fifth! And Goku has to be there, because it's filler, so the threat needs to be bigger. It's not like the Frieza race are shapeshifters. Of course they're not dipshit, they all follow the same template. They're like the evolution chart detailing prehistoric ape to cromagnon man to blond guy. And this is his fifth form!

Imagine if this had been a Piccolo movie set while Goku was on Yardrat. We have Frieza's bro, who's not just miraculous stronger despite never doing anything about it, but he's still more powerful than the second form Frieza Piccolo fought. Idk. Fuck Coola

Super Buu

This one is basically a Dragon Ball IQ test. At first glance he looks ok, maybe even cool. However, those with sufficient gray matter can easily ascertain that he's actually garbage, and that Fat Buu was the best design all along. He's just so generic looking, which is almost impressive for a guy so pink and sponge-y looking. Oh. And his transformation includes raiding people's wardrobe without realizing that shit don't even match

Super Saiyan 3

See, a bad transformation isn't just about aesthetics. And don't get me wrong, the aesthetics are also awful. That caveman brow, the Raditz hair, those obscene spikes. But no, the worst part about Super Saiyan 3, the thing that I truly absolutely despise, is how effortlessly it cheapens Super Saiyan and Gohan's feat of going Beyond Super Saiyan

Because everyone had that thought the second Trunks arrived and went blond. That they could do it. Gohan, Vegeta, Ghost of Nappa, and any other Saiyan that might be out there. All of them could go Super Saiyan now, it's not prophecy after all. And that leads to the question of escalation. What next?

Well the Cell Saga answered this. Gohan was next. He went Beyond Super Saiyan. The boy did what his dad don't, he fucking mastered that shit. Then out comes Super Saiyan 3 like a baaaaad fart. But it only gets worse. It's a flawed, incomplete transformation that only works if you're dead. It's strong, but burns through energy faster than the body can collect it. And that's that. Dragon Ball ends, Goku saving the day without even using his new form. Dragon Ball GT introduces SS4 and DBS provides a crayon box of recolors for you to shove up your nose, all the while Super Saiyan 3 is left in the dust. It came, we all saw it, it sucked.

idk other anon, maybe you should actually fucking listen to people when they tell you that she's not going to land a hit on them for a very specific reason. it does not matter how quick she is, if she doesn't have ki, she's not going to be able to hit a DB character.

[Yeeeeah, I think I've given plenty of fair warning that, without giving me any other information about the character, I've deduced that she could not fight Vegeta on equal footing. Immortal or not, trained her whole life or not, compared to most of the main cast of Dragonball, even the least powerful of the bunch, it's going to be like pitting Hercule or even Videl against them.

And for people that have been here for a while, you've seen me lament over the fact that this series doesn't give the humans(?) like Tien, Yamcha, and Krillin (especially Tien) a really fair shot because I DO believe and would LOVE to see a human character be on the same level as Goku and Vegeta (I mean I've pushed for the idea of Trunks being Bulma and Yamcha's kid instead of Vegeta's for Pete's sake). I've even argued that, with Tien actually training his whole life, even in peace, HE should be the one keeping up with SSB in Super rather than 17 or at least alongside the android.

So this definitely isn't about some kind of stupid idea that a human couldn't and shouldn't be able to keep up with Vegeta because I absolute believe one could. But in this series, ki is a MUST. They even made this apparent with Videl, even though they did shit all with her really learning or utilizing it. This is all simply, from what little they want to share or have developed, I don't see their character competing with the likes of Vegeta or really ANY DB main cast character on a serious level. Would she make a good sparring partner for someone willing to entertain not going all out and not using ki (i.e. someone a lot more laid back like Goku, or Yamcha, or Krillin, possibly even Tien or Piccolo)? Sure! But not Vegeta. He's not one to train with people weaker than him or who don't present a plausible challenge.]

What do you think of MasakoX's What If Bulma Trained Like Goku?

Never saw it other than the thumbnails. So I dont know what its about. But Bulma training like Goku? She would have to learn martial arts. Cause even if she mad battle armor, she would need to know how to fight. The battle armor is essentially the same as Cyborg 17 & 18 except their enhancements are like internal battle armor while Bulma can remove her armor (& would be weaker). But like I said, Bulma would need to learn martial arts because from what I can tell, 17 & 18 fighting styles "installed" in their brains.

There were a lot of asks like this one, so imma answer them all in this post. And for most of these I either never saw or I only saw a few. So I will give quick scenarios of how I think they would end. So, you'll kinda get quick what-if stories from me.

Saw some of it. Felt like Broly was infantized in a way. Doesnt match up with Z Broly at all to me. Not very interesting, so I stopped watching it.

I dont think I saw it. But if he was, then he would be too weak to defeat Freeza if he became a SSJ before the Saiyan Saga.

If Vegeta became a SSJ on Namek, then he may kill Freeza, but Vegeta likes to gloat, so... Freeza may have ended up killing Vegeta either by the planet exploding or by a sneak attack. We saw what happened when Vegeta defeated Freeza in RoF.

And Vegeta was less arrogant in DBS. So DBZ Vegeta would have definetly gloated too much and would likely get himself killed. Then Freeza would recover and hunt down the rest of the Saiyans on Earth.

Never saw it. Would be lame to me tho if they stayed fused forever.

However, Toriyama would figure out a way to defuse them somehow. Likely from a wish from the Namekian Dragon Balls to defuse them (like how Supreme Kai & Kibito defused). So, after Vegito enters inside Super Buu, frees Piccolo & the kids, then defeats Kid Buu with his own might, the 3 wishes would be...

#1: Restore Earth from its damaged state.

#2: Bring those killed by Babidi and his minions back to life.

#3: Defuse Vegito.

I would prefer something like that. Then, the series continues on as normal until the Goku Black/Future Trunks Saga of DBS. Then Vegito would probably be in the Tournament of Power (would need another team member). According to DBFZ, Vegito & Gogeta's power is about equal to Jiren's full power (not his awakened state). So a Vegito vs Jiren battle would happen early and other opponents would be eliminated during their intense battle.

Depending on if Vegito could use UI or not due to the Vegeta half, Vegito may defeat Jiren. Or Jiren may awaken while Vegito doesn't awaken & Vegito loses. Maybe the Potara Earrings break and they defuse. Could go either way.

Never saw it. But if Freeza saw Vegeta's potential, I'm pretty sure Freeza would kill him. He kept the strongest of different alien races as trophies in a way. He kept Vegeta around while noticing his potential anyways, so the premise for this what-if is already in the series. Freeza always recognized Vegeta's potential.

But if Vegeta was seen as an actual threat to Freeza, Freeza would eliminate him just like he did with the rest of the Saiyans because he saw them teaming up against him as a threat. A very short story. And a very short story for Vegeta.

I think I saw maybe only 4 videos. From what I remember, MasakoX kinda changed how Z Bardock was. I could be wrong. And I think he made Bardock & King Vegeta team up? And the Saiyans defeated Freeza? Can't remember.

But if Bardock did convince the other Saiyans, Freeza could still easily kill the Saiyans. He effortlessly destroyed Planet Vegeta while in his first form in the original story. Saiyans pushing back against him would just result in Freeza using more power to finish them off. Back to the normal canon. Nothing changed except Freeza would be more paranoid and probably kill kid Vegeta, Nappa, & kid Raditz.

Now it's a story where there is no Saiyan Saga. THAT would be interesting to explore. How does Goku and the others find out about Freeza? Is it from Jaco? What happens after the Z Warriors (& Piccolo) train to face an enemy like Freeza? Do they all go to Namek? Gohan would probably not be there with them. Goku would lose some friends then turn SSJ. Afterwards we have a Cell & Buu Saga without Vegeta screwing everything up. DBS would be very different tho.

A two-for-one, eh?

Saw very little of the Freeza & Gero one. Interesting concept. Don't know how it ended or if it ended. I imagine it would have a lot of betrayal. Maybe even end up having Cell need to absorb Freeza to be perfect. Idk.

Broly as an android? Never saw it. But in my mind, Broly would have to be suppressed through science. Greatly suppressed so that he doesn't get out of hand. And then once he breaks the mind control mechanism or deactivation remote, we essentially get the part of the 1st Z Broly movie where the Z Fighters have to work together to defeat Broly. Except now he's on Earth, the human Z Warriors would pitch in, & Gohan would probably have to turn SSJ2. Maybe Goku dies while fighting Broly & that makes Gohan snap. Then Amdroid Broly is killed by the Father-Son Kamehameha.

Back To The Future Part 2 vibes. Incest vibes. Kinda weird having an OP character in the past and he has to pretend to be weak the entire time. Doesn't feel like there are any stakes. One Punch Man is similar due to Saitama being OP, but they make the boring idea work with comedy and get you invested in other characters.

I just feel like if Trunks accidentally went that far back, his first priority would be to make sure everyone stays alive. Second priority would be that when Goku attacks the Red Ribbon Army base, Trunks would hunt down Gero & kill him. Mission accomplished. He now tried to return to his timeline.

Also back to the incest thing... Bulma has shown attraction for Trunks in official material. Breakers to be specific. So, its kinda accurate there. She'd do it if she didn't know. But Trunks? Nah. Seems out of character. I don't remember but I think MasakoX had Trunks kinda attracted to her until she said what her name was. I know its a Back To The Future Part 2 reference, but I think Trunks would know what his mom would look and sound like immediately even when she was 16. Bulma's look is easily identifiable. So that part was just an unnecessary reference that made Trunks out of character.

Saw some of it. If my memory is correct, I thought it was pretty good.

I can't remember, but I don't think I liked it. That kind of power does make sense for someone like Gohan, but I don't think I liked the way it was implemented.

Didn't watch it. Didn't care for the name. Never like that "So-and-so Did Nothing Wrong" thing. So it didn't interest me. Plus... Zamasu did everything wrong.

Never saw it. But I would imagine it would play out with King Vegeta seeing his fate at the hands of Freeza, try to fight against it, then die to Freeza regardless of what he did just like Bardock how couldn't change his fate. He was cursed with knowing a future he couldn't prevent.

Saw a few minutes. Wasn't with it. Goku would have destroyed a lot. Only someone like Grampa Gohan could fight with him and be alright.

The people at Capsule Corp. would be wiped out & Goku would turn into an Oozaru. Then Bulma would probably be on the hunt for the Dragon Balls to wish her family and others back and find a way to kill that giant ape.

Goku falling on his head and being nursed back to health & being taught kindness by Grampa Gohan changed him.

That not happening would result in Goku's Saiyan nature causing him to wreck havoc.

Didn't see it. Never liked that ship. Toroyama didn't choose that for good reasons. Seemed too obvious that the male & female lead would get together, plus they aren't compatible. Bulma was most compatible with Yamcha, but she argued too much for no reason and ruined that romance then got stuck with someone who was worse.

If she was with Goku, Bulma would complain almost as much as she does with Vegeta. She complained about Yamcha training too much and Goku trained even more. She wouldn't be happy. She would likely divorce him/separate from him. I believe the only reason Bulma didnt separate from Vegeta was because Vegeta is the kind of guy that would stay and threaten you if you try to kick him out. Goku wouldn't. He would just want to see his son regularly.

Saw some of it. Seems like Freeza was almost a different character. But it wasn't bad. Maybe Freeza turned good too quickly tho.

Never saw it. If Freeza betrayed then but they were saved by the Z Fighters, then I can see them turning good.

Just a suggestion, but next time tell me if you like those what-if stories when you ask these questions. I don't really watch MasakoX's what-if videos anymore, so knowing your thoughts would be interesting.

Vegeta x Reader

Back in the Old Days (DBZ-DBS)

You and Vegeta have a reminisce about the past. You both...have changed since then, to say the least.

Warnings: Geta and Bulma never happened, Trunks is your kid, slight cursing, fluffy.

You grinned as a punch landed on your face, "That's the best you can do, Geta?"

You dodged the next punch, "Not even close, [Name]!"

You did a summersault to escape a blast, you abruptly twist your body right before landing, kicking out at just the right moment when your husband appeared behind you.

He scoffed as he caught your ankle, "That's the best you can do, darling?"

You smiled as you twisted out of his grip, you grunted at he used that moment to punch your gut.

You yelped as you flew away, you crashed into the ground, leaving a crater behind as you blasted back into the sky.

"Oh? Pet names? You're getting better, prince," you teased as you traded lightning-fast attacks.

You and Vegeta were sparring, obviously. It was one of the things he openly enjoyed doing with you. But ever since you had children you had to handle more responsibility, you couldn't spar with him as much anymore.

Your relationship changed too since when you first met.

It started out a bit hostile, due to the stubbornness from both sides, you were more open and understanding, but, quite frankly, Vegeta found you to be an obstacle in his goal to be the best.

But as you learned more about each other, healed him, spent time with him. You both fell hard. He would've rather dropped dead than admit it, you were embarrassed about falling for the prince.

As time went on though, you learned how to tolerate each other, understand the other's mind...you fell in love all over again, but the relationship was more loving.

Vegeta changed after he died, and so did you, but it was for the better. It made you both better.

Vegeta smashed into the ground with a grunt, laughing with glee as he dusted his sleeve before rejoining the fight.

You were Bulma's younger adopted sibling, but you learned when you were a teen that you had powers that had previously been locked away. You were half-alien.

But due to that, you and Vegeta had another way of bonding, sparring together (which made Goku so jealous).

The ratio of wins has gotten smaller on your side as he advanced in power, but you still found it fun to fight him.

You used his arm to flip up, wrapping your legs around his neck.

All he did was a growl in annoyance and pinch the weak spot on your thigh, asshole.

You lost your grip a little but didn't want to fall...even though you could fly... So in that split second, you crossed your ankles together as you hung upside down.

Vegeta smirked, and glanced down at your face, "Been a while since I've seen you at this angle."

Your face got warm, "Silence, you pervert!"

You used your core strength to swing around and toss him to the ground below with your legs like a slingshot.

This went on for a while until he went SSG and kicked your butt.

After the battle, you both vibed in silence in one of the craters, made by who, you forgot. Vegeta rests his head on your thighs in thought, while you aimlessly run your fingers through his hair.

"Hey, Geta."

"Mm?"

You glanced down at him and watched as he finally looked into your eyes.

"Remember that day, when I fed you that soup? You absolutely refused to have assistance from a halfling.

He sighed in annoyance at his past self, "Yeah. The soup was good."

You gasped, "You said it was terrible! All that time..."

"Name, I lied, I did that a lot back then when it came to you."

Flashback

You carefully walked into Vegeta's room, where he was still healing. You didn't want to drop the [Soup Name] you made for him. No, it wasn't because you cared about him. You just...didn't want Bulma to scold you for staving him...yeah.

You glanced up, blinking a few times before processing he was awake. You held eye contact as you placed the soup on the desk next to him.

"Afternoon, Vegeta."

"Halfling."

You pouted as you prepared a bowl, "You insist on calling me that."

He rolled his eyes, the narrowed orbs landed on you again, "It's what you are."

You glared, "I have a name. I'd suggest using it."

"Or what?"

You raised a brow, "You do realize you're vulnerable right now, right? I wouldn't want to make me angry and test what I could do to you."

He scoffed and looked away.

You put your attention back to the steaming bowl, grabbing a spoon, "How're you feeling? Bulma says you have to still stay in bed for a few more weeks. I know you don't like sitting still."

He sharply turned his head over to you, wincing at the action, "You don't know...anything about me."

You smiled, "Well, I know you like to improve yourself. That you like to prove your worth to others. You don't like to be looked down on. And...you're pretty lonely aren't you?"

"I'm the prince of all Saiyans!-"

You dipped the spoon into the soup, lightly blowing on the contents on it, "Yeah? Well, even princes can be lonely, sometimes." You held out the spoon to him, "Here. You need to eat."

He scoffed in disbelief, "I will not."

"You want to starve? You still can't steady your arms enough yet and you've tried feeding yourself before, it took an hour. You do this every day, just eat it."

"I refuse to be fed by a creature lower than me."

You smirked, "Well, technically, since you're in the hospital bed right now, you're physically lower than me."

"I'll starve."

"You'll die and never surpass Kakarot."

....

"Feed me the damn soup, halfling. You're taking too long."

He reluctantly opened his mouth when you held out the spoon to him.

"It's terrible," he glared.

You thought you made decent soup, Bulma told you it was delicious, did she lie to you all this time?

"I can make you something else-"

"Just give me the damn soup, it's already here. By the time you'd get back with something else I'd be double my age now."

"But you said-"

"Shut up! I've had worse! Feed me."

You giggled as you continued to feed him, "'Feed me'. You sound like a baby."

Flashback end

"You've definitely changed since then," you gave him a bright smile.

"I'm...sorry, for how I was back then."

You broke out into laughter, "I can feel how painful it was for you to say that."

"Shut up!"

"Uh...dad? You okay down there? I hear yelling," a young voice yelled from outside the crater.

Vegeta sat up, "Trunks-"

You stood up, "Your father's always yelling, Trunks. We're fine."

"I'm hungry, I was looking for you," he peeked into the crater with the smile you couldn't refuse because it looked just like Vegeta's. That spoiled brat.

"All right, come on, Geta."

You both flew out and landed beside your son, ready to fly back to Capsule Corps.

"I'm curious, how did you both get together? Gohan told me you were at each other's throat when you met," Trunks asked as you flew together.

You shook your head in amusement, "It wasn't that bad. But...hm...I'll have to remember. Looks like we'll be having a day of reminiscence, Veggie!"

It took him a moment after you'd sped up.

"You--you halfling! I told you not to call me that!" he sped up to chase you.

You uncontrollably giggled, "Veggie: The King of all that are Veggies!"

Trunks watched with a smile, he liked moments like this, where despite how you both could be sometimes, you showed that you loved each other dearly. He liked how much the relationship changed since his father died and returned.

Trunks rushed to catch up to you both, with a snort of laughter.

“Y/N?” You looked up from the evidence gathered at Hallie’s house that was out on the table.

“Greg?”

“New DB just came in. Want to join me?” he questioned stepping into the room. 

You looked at Grissom opposite you and he gestured towards Greg “Go. I’ll be ok with this. Catherine will be back in a second anyway.”

You stood and began to leave, Greg leading the way. “You wanna drive?”

“Uhh I think you should. I still don’t know Vegas that well.”

The man laughed “You’ll get to know it soon enough. I’m surprised Nick hasn’t taken you on a tour yet.” 

You got into the car with the man “Well we haven’t exactly had the time yet.”

“I was going to ask Nick if he wanted to come hiking soon and you’re more than welcome to join to.” The man started the engine.

“I’ll ask him later. Thank you”

“My pleasure. So Y/N tell me what sort of stuff are you into?”

The entire car ride was spent talking about your hobbies and getting to know the man, allowing him to talk about the history of Vegas and his friendship with Nick.

“I’m sorry I didn’t make too much of an effort to get to know you. Or come and see you and Nick. I was actually kind of nervous. I knew you were a big part of his life and I didn’t want to scare you away or something.”

“Don’t apologise or worry about it. It would have been nice to get to know you sooner, don't get me wrong. But you and Nick were always calling each other so I feel like I know you anyway.”

“Same to you. He spoke about you a lot, you know. Still does.”

You rolled your eyes “As much as I love the man can we move away from the relationship talk? I feel like I’ve been grilled and questioned by everyone about it.”

“Alright. No relationship talk.” The man pulled into the drive of a house. The police presence around the house was instantly noticeable.

“High profile?” 

The man shrugged “I don’t think so.”

The two of you got out of the vehicle and grabbed your kits, quickly moving towards the house.

“Why so many officers?” you questioned an older looking man by the front door.

“The body is fresh. Found by his kid. He was a professor and writer. The kid said he saw a woman leaving.”

You thanked the man and entered the house, Greg right behind you. The two of you saw a teenager in the corridor with a detective “Hi.” you greeted them.

“Sanders and?” the detective enquired.

“Y/L/N” you replied and stretched out your hand. 

He shook it “Wentz” The man turned to the teenager “This is Steff Nichols, Mr Nichols, the vic’s, son.” He turned to the man “Tell them what you saw.”

Steff fidgeted “I came home from tutoring early and shouted for my Dad. I knew he was in, he never leaves on a Thursday night. He has to be home to watch his favourite show. I didn’t hear a response so I looked for him and came to his room and found him on his bed grasping at his chest. I went to run for my bag and cell phone and saw that someone was running down our drive I didn’t chase her I called nine one one and went to try help him.” he was visibly upset.

“Don’t feel bad you did the right thing.” you re-assured “Have you given Detective Wentz a description of what she looked like?”

He nodded “The best I could.”

“Did you touch anything in the room?” Greg asked from beside you.

“No. My focus was on Dad and… he was gone by the time help got here.”

“Did they touch anything?” Greg asked.

“Nothing. Just the father” Wentz replied.

The two of you nodded. “Stay with the detective alright?” Greg told the kid as the two of you continued down the corridor to the room his father lay.

The room was large and the man lay on the floor next to his bed, far from the door. You took a picture as soon as you entered the room. You slowly approached the body and took more as Greg fell into step with you.

Something caught Gregs eye as he approached the opposite nightstand. “Y/N look” he pointed at a vial on the nightstand as he began to rush out of the room “I’ll ask if they left anything.”

You took a picture of the vial before placing your kit down and picking up the vial. Greg was back with you within seconds “They didn’t even take anything out of their packs. Anything they did was over by the body.”

You read the label and passed it to Greg who now had an open evidence bag. “Potassium.” He sealed the bag and read it through the plastic. 

“These cases are more intertwined than we thought.”

“Is it ok if I call Nick? He said that his vic looked like they OD’d but maybe it was something connected to this? Can you call David to check for puncture marks on Hallie?”

He nodded “You call Nick.” Greg brought his phone out of his pocket and walked to the otherside of the room to make his call. Slipping out your phone you quickly called Nick.

“Everything ok?” Nick’s voice was curious

“Yeah.” you pushed some stray hairs back “I’m with Greg with the new DB. We found a vial of potassium here. I know you said your case looked like a general overdose in a motel but be sure to check for Potassium in her bloodstream. We’ll explain more later.”

“Sure, sure. Ours vic had a pretty big concoction of drugs in her stream. We initially thought she was a long time user but she wasn’t at all. I’ll check again for potassium.”

“Thanks Nicky. I’m just finishing this scene and we’ll be back to properly fill you in”

“No problem Darlin’. I’ll see you in a bit.”

“See you in a bit. Love you.”

“I love you too.” 

With that you hung up the call and turned back around, Greg stood on the other side of the room with a smirk on his face and arms crossed around his chest. “Love you Nicky.” he teased.

You couldn’t help the smile that spread across your face “What? Are you jealous Greggo?”

“Don’t you dare.” he laughed “Let’s get back to the scene shall we?”

You composed yourself “Sure.”

The two of you collected the evidence efficiently and effectively and were soon walking back to the car. Bringing out your phone you checked your messages “Nick says there was potassium in his vic.”

“Right. David said he found puncture marks in Hallie too. This calls for a proper meeting.” Greg slid into the driver’s seat and brought out his phone. He began to frantically tap the screen before locking it and putting it away.

Just as he put it down your phone vibrated and you pulled it out.

“It’s only me.”

You read the text on the screen calling for a team meeting upon your return. 

“I’ll drop the evidence off ready to be properly processed then make my way over to the meeting.” you pulled your seatbelt across as he pulled away from the scene.

“Did Nick tell you about that time he left evidence in his car and-”

“Yeah.” you laughed “He gets pretty embarrassed about it.”

“I would too. It was a rough day.”

“When he told me the story I instantly got second hand embarrassment and it lives in my head rent free now. I’ll never leave evidence in a car.”

The journey was quick and you both leaped out the car. Greg chucked you his keys before rushing inside. You grabbed all of the evidence from the trunk and locked up before following Gregs footsteps inside. 

You quickly dropped off the evidence and hurried to the breakout room. Greg was straight ahead of you at the back centre of the room as you entered. Slipping inside you stood by the door next to Sara.

“I’ve called you here because it looks like all of our cases are linked. Each of them are all linked with a potassium overdose or elevated levels in their stream. Y/N and I just got back from a scene where an older man, a professor and writer was found having a heart attack by his son and he saw a woman fleeing the scene but stayed to help his dad.”

Greg paused and looked around the room before continuing. “We need to find the link between these cases. We’ll all be working together from now on. I want the teams to review all evidence from now on. Finish whatever you were doing and come join Y/N and I with your evidence.”

The group split up and you were soon falling into step with Greg. You spread the evidence out across the table and began to upload the crime scene photos before joining Greg back at the table.

Nick was the first to join you. He placed a box of evidence down on the table and stood beside you. Sara and Grissom were quick on his heels with more boxes. Nick’s hand settled on the small of your back as he leaned forward and used his free hand to sift through some evidence.

Sara got to work looking through all of the crime scene photos and Catherine was soon coming into the room with armfull’s of paperwork.

The team worked effortlessly together. Looking through evidence and moving around the room smoothly, lending knowledge effectively and researching as appropriate.

You pulled out the picture strip found on Hallie and looked over the faces with her in the booth. “This face is familiar.” you showed Greg next to you.

He took the strip from your hands “That’s Shana. The first vic. The teacher.” He held up the strip to the room “We’ve found out first link. Find out how they know each other.”

Catherine took the strip from Greg “On it.”

People began to leave the room, finding new clues and going to research them Greg had to excuse himself to take a call but he was soon returning.

“Sara, Y/N.”

“Yep.”

“New Dead body for you both. Could be connected.”

The two of you were soon leaving. “I never thought something like this would be my first case in Vegas.” you admitted to Sara.

“Vegas is different.” Sara laughed “It’s thrown us all straight into the deep end.”

“You can say that again.” 

The scene was a small nicely furnished home. It wasn’t high end but not low end either. The surrounding houses were full of families. The victim was Tessa Spencer, a woman in her 30s found dead in her living room by her brother. Sara and you processed the scene swiftly.

“Do you have any idea who could have done this? Did she have any enemies?” Sara questioned Tessa’s brother, Julian.

“A lot of people liked her. She was a really good person.”

“I know but you really need to think for us. Is there anyone who would want to see her hurt?”

He sighed. “I know she had a disagreement with our cousin last week. She mentioned it over the phone. The two have never really got on. She’s definitely spiralled over the years.”

“Would you say your cousin is capable of murder?”

“Yeah. Most definitely. They were on trial a couple of years ago”

“Who?”

“Hannah West”

Sara’s head snapped to Julian “I beg your pardon.”

Dragonball 30 Day Challenge: Day 21 Favorite Movie

So I actually really like most of these movies. I’ve never been bothered by the “it wouldn’t fit into canon” argument. I view them as fun AU adventures so I just judge them based on their individual traits. I won’t be including the specials in here as I think that’s a different topic.

So, let’s do a quick countdown to my favorite, from the worst to the best!

16: Resurrection F: Sorry, I have never been a huge fan of Freeza. He was fine as a villain in the Namek saga and his unexpected return until he was killed by Trunks was interesting. Beyond that, I don’t find him an engaging bad guy. He’s a Bond villain. He’s not fun for me to watch and him growing that much stronger in four months is stretching my sense of disbelief even for Dragonball. Vegeta getting robbed of that kill was crap and introducing Whis’ ability to rewind time killed any tension for future battles for me.

And I don’t wanna talk about what they did to Gohan.

15: Lord Slug: There’s nothing “wrong” per say with this movie but it’s just...well, it’s Piccolo Daimao all over again. So, it’s kind of boring. I do like seeing the colder climate as Toriyama didn’t draw that very often (claims he hates the cold so it’s usually summer or spring in his manga) so we didn’t get to see it as much. I also love the brief interaction Goku has with Gohan during the battle and Gohan and Icarus are way too adorable.

14: Bio Broly: Okay so I don’t hate this movie. It’s not good but I don’t think it’s utterly horrible like some people do. But the reasons I like it might be different than others. I like this one because you get to see Goten and Trunks’ friendship. You see them pal around, you see them argue but then when they’re close to getting killed you also see Trunks refuse to leave an unconscious Goten to die alone. I freaking LOVE that.

13: Return of Cooler: I think my issue with this movie is the same issue I have with Super in general. It’s focused on Goku and Vegeta almost the whole way through. We get small cuts to the others but otherwise it’s just them. I like both these characters but I like to see a mix of the cast so that’s why it falls lower.

12: Dragonball Super Broly: Okay so I really like the adaption of Dragonball Minus. It turned out way better than I hoped and the animation in this movie is absolutely amazing. I’d recommend it just based on that alone. I really enjoyed the new characters. But again, not a fan of Freeza and the fact it was really only Goku and Vegeta—again—really hurts it for me. Still a fun movie though.

11: Wrath of the Dragon: This one has a really fun plot and it’s neat to see Trunks really bonding with someone. I think the brief interactions at the BBQ are some of the best. The downtime in this movie has some of my favorite moments. The final battle is fun but I think it would have been better if someone other than Goku got the finishing blow.

10: Super Android 15: This one, again, I really love for the downtime! Seeing Goku’s family shopping, going out for lunch—I love that kind of stuff! The Androids themselves are interesting enough and while I know a lot of people don’t like it, I really like they gave 15 a redneck accent in the dub. Gave him some character. I also love Gohan and Krillin trying to help even though they are completely outmatched. Gohan throwing himself in front of a blast to protect his father who is creating a spirit bomb is one of my favorite small scenes.

9: Broly Second Coming: The interactions between Videl, Goten and Trunks are pure gold. I’d love to see them just...shooting the breeze with each other. The battle against Broly is fun but I love the ending where Goku pops in from the Other World (presumably) to lend his aid. That entire family Kamehameha is just brilliant.

8: Battle of Gods: So this is going to sound weird because Beerus and Whis are some of my favorites in DBS. I did not like them here. No idea why, just didn’t. The Super Saiyan God ritual is kinda weird but I love all the character interactions before this! This is what I really love about Dragonball, all these interesting personalities working off one another. I like how Goku and Beerus’ fight goes and the animation is really well done. Pretty solid. And Vegeta defending Bulma—awesome.

7: Bojack Unbound: This is how I pictured Gohan growing up into after Cell—still studies but plays outside and still trains and ChiChi being okay with it. This is the personality I love Gohan with—confident but not overly confident, shy but with pride in himself and a great blend of his human and Saiyan sides.

Freaking. Love. It.

The rest of the movie is meh. Save one element—Goku saying “screw it” to the rules and intervening to save his son

and Gohan utterly owning everyone with SSJ2.

But I have to rank it high with having my absolute favorite characterization of Gohan.

6: Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan: Yes, I’m ranking the old one higher than the new one. I don’t care. I watch this one more.

I like the aliens, I like all the other characters being involved. I love the fact that Gohan is a kid in this one. I love Vegeta’s being utterly and completely terrified. I love Piccolo coming in for the save, I love Goku forgetting about the battle and Broly and rushing to try and save his kid. And when Broly threatens his son...

“Kakarot, how much do you love your son?”

“Gohan, leave.”

“But Father—“

“NOW.”

I think having more characters and introducing peril to all of them makes it more engaging.

5: Dead Zone: Quick trivia fact, this is the movie that got me into Dragonball. I caught the end of it on Cartoon Network and was intrigued from them on. I really like that this has a younger Goku. Goku from the Saiyan Saga to the Android Saga is probably my favorite characterization of him. That really shows here. He doesn’t care what beef Kami and Garlic Junior have. He’s there for his kid. “Return my Gohan!” There’s so great choreography in this one too and more martial arts than just ki blasts which I always love seeing.

4: World’s Strongest: Little Gohan is fun. I love seeing him interact with Goku’s friends and an enemy that still thinks Roshi is the strongest makes for some great throwback scenes. I like seeing Goku’s friends get involved in the action. Goku intervening to protect his son against a brainwashed Piccolo and Gohan having to watch the two men he admires most in the world fight makes for great drama.

3: Fusion Reborn: This movie is just fun. It’s wacky, it’s crazy, the fights are insane, the dialogue is hilarious, it’s bright and colorful and Goku and Vegeta while being the main heroes don’t completely dictate the plot. There’s enough fun stuff going on with other characters that I can enjoy any aspect of this movie.

2: Tree of Might: The scents between Goku and Gohan are why I love this movie. Them playing in the tub, Goku letting him keep Icarus in a cave in the yard...the ENTIRE scene of Goku trying to break through to Gohan once he’s become a giant ape just breaks my heart. “Gohan! It’s Daddy!”

Then having time cut off his own son’s tail to save him and ooo, Goku’s “I’m so done” glare to Turles. I adore that when Goku is at his lowest, it’s his son’s voice that gets him to stand back up.

1: Cooler’s Revenge: I like these slice of life moments and this movie has lots of them. I love Goku and his friends and son just wanting to go on a camping trip. I love that Cooler comes not to avenge his brother but because Freeza being beaten by a Saiyan looks bad on their entire family. That is brilliant.

Daddy Goku for the win here. I love how they show his relationship with Gohan in this movie. They’ve always been my favorites so I’m biased by nature. I love how the battle against Cooler goes. I love how they have to struggle not to use their ki when they’re tending to Goku. The characters and scenarios in this movie really make it for me.

One thing I noticed as I did this list is that most of my top movies have Gohan as a kid. I don’t think that’s random. I much prefer his characterization at that age and I like it when the others can still contribute to the plot. But as I said, except for my top most disliked one, I really like all of these in some manner. They’re always a fun time!

“What do you want, woman?” Vegeta asked her as he walked past, a towel around his neck after finishing another intense gravity training session. Yes, Kakarot was dead and will be staying dead too. Maybe he was training so hard and alone lately because he was still trying to come to terms with that, his rival, the goal of one day surpassing him, it was meaningless now he was dead.

“How’s the boy?” he added casually as he looked at Trunks. Maybe that would be his next goal, to train his son to become the best like himself. Naturally, that will come after his own goal to attain the transformation that Gohan showed during the Cell Games, if anger was the trigger, then Vegeta had a lot of that to use.

Hiya so sorry if this sounds like I'm asking incredibly too much but can you tell me what you think are the best animated scenes in the entire series? Besides Super Broly of course cause that's just too beautiful. The only moments that immediately come to my mind for every part is the Krillin v Goku, ChiChi v Goku, that part you reblogged with Vegeta shooting a ki blast in the saiyan saga, Cell v Goku, some parts or Kid Buu vs SSJ2 Goku, parts of Baby Vegeta v SSJ4 Goku, SSJB Goku and Trunks v Goku Black and Zamasu, Vegito V Zamasu and Goku with Co v Jiren. Sorry again if this is asking for way too much, feel free to skip this even if it is! I just have been reeling over db as whole this past week and I've been having conflicting thoughts.

Disclaimer: I haven't actually watched the anime all the way through, so I probably do not have as solid a grasp on where all the good animation is lol. That being said, I think I can at least say I've seen most of the well known fights as well as just... random stuff. I've also seen some of the movies (DBS Broly, Dead Zone, World’s Strongest, Tree of Might, Lord Slug, and Super Android 13) as well as the Future Trunks and Bardock specials. In other words, I have a feeling that in answering this, I'm gonna miss things, sorry.

That being said, you've given me the perfect opportunity to talk about a few specific scenes in DB animation that I think about a lot, so thanks! This is gonna be a long answer cause I can’t actually talk about anything without going off for a billion years apparently. Sorry ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

So. First of all, I want to describe what I think of when I think is "good animation". Generally speaking, I judge animation to be “good” kinda like this:

Context. because I’m just Like That and can’t enjoy something if my suspension of disbelief is challenged lol. But this also means what a scene is setting out to do and what it communicates. There’s things you can do with cuts, speed changes, tempo, etc that can really sell and add layers to animation

Creativity. Probably speaks for itself. If an animation does something unique or creative, I like it a lot. I like seeing things I haven’t seen before and being surprised

Basic animation principles. You know... timing, impact, etc. If you’ve seen any posts on animation, you probably have a general idea of what this means. I’m not trained in animation, but I’ve animated a little and have looked at the usual guides and videos

Cinematography: Just like how you can’t separate comic quality from paneling and dialogue, I believe you can judge animation similarly to how you judge live action, because how the animation is framed is also a conscious decision in how its drawn and thusly animated

Brain go bbbrrrrr. Cause sometimes I just like stuff and it’s hard to explain why. We can’t be objective about everything, it’s quite literally impossible

This also means that not all of the best animated scenes in DB are action scenes to me. Character acting and so on are important too. 

Okay now on to me talking about stuff. There are lots of really well animated parts throughout the whole series including all the scenes you mentioned, so I’m going to limit myself to uh... Not as many as I could name. Let’s go!

Piccolo jr. ripping his arm off

You know how I mentioned character acting being really important in a scene? Yeah. Honestly this whole fight is my favorite in the series not just because of its choreo and intuitive combat, but also because of the character-focused sections like this one. It’s raw. It’s gritty. The incredible, pushed-to-the-limits expressions Piccolo makes and how they framed the scene are incredible. Even the usage of color is on point! 11/10 easily.

(This gif’s of them fighting but as said, the combat during this is also fantastic. Also shout out to Goku’s meteor combo. I watch that almost every day.)

Goku vs Ginger, Nikki, and Sancho (Dead Zone)

Hi I think the first two DB movies are some of the best ones actually.

In my opinion, fights where we can see the limb movement > fights where we can’t see the limb movement, so the early DBZ films have a leg up over the later ones. Goku does some really well choreographed and animated dodging when it’s just Ginger and Nikki in particular, with impeccable character acting on top. Shout out to when he gets his hair cut.

This is also where I’ll mention what I like to call injury choreography, which is a part of a fight scene that I think is very important but not talked about a lot. This refers to how taking injuries is framed during a fight, such as how the impact feels and how the injury was choreographed. This is just as important to an animated fight scene as it would be a live action fight scene, and so I count it when I think of what the “best” animation is in the series. There’s really good injury choreo in the first two DBZ movies in particular, and I’d recommend everyone watch them.

The Whole DBS Broly Movie

Because it is.

Whenever UI Goku is on screen

Yeah I haven’t even watched Super but I know gorgeous animation when I see it. I don’t think there’s a single DB fan alive that can make a valid argument against UI being stunning, let alone anyone who thinks it isn’t jaw dropping. I also don’t think there’s much I could say that hasn’t already been said, i just thought it was worth listing because. Yo.

Goku vs. The Goons from World’s Strongest

Okay I saved this one for last because I have the most to say about it. World’s Strongest is a movie I have conflicted feelings over, but one thing I am NOT conflicted on is the scene where Goku confronts the two remaining lackeys of Dr. Wheelo. To see which parts I’m going to talk about, click here and go to about 0:45.

I won’t do a full breakdown, but I am very impressed with this scene. Besides having amazing choreo (the injury choreo in particular for both Goku and the goons is????? incredible I love it), it also answers the a question that I believe to be important to the whole franchise’s animation: how do you convey speed when characters are supposed to be moving too fast for the eye to register?

These scenes answer that question with: Comparison.

Man, Goku looks great in this still doesn’t he? Anyway, what I mean by comparison is that this scene takes Goku’s actions and uses either creative shot comp or interspersing of something happening simultaneously to inform the audience of how fast he’s going. The parts that do this are:

The initial stare down scene. In it, we basically blink and Goku’s smacked this guy in the face with his elbow. It uses shot composition and timing to show that Goku went really damn fast when he hit this guy. The usage of establishing shots in particular made me “oooh”.

Everything from 2:12-2:33. To put a blanket summary over it, everything happening in those seconds happens in the span of how long it takes the guy Goku punched to fly into the wall and collapse into the rubble. The animators interspersed shots of that with the rest of the fight in order to convey how fast Goku was moving using kaioken. That’s bonkers ridiculous fast

I believe that good animation can convey the meaning of a scene clearly, but a great animation can convey not just that but subconscious information that viewers can enjoy on repeat watches. That’s what this scene did for me and it blew my whole mind. 

Go Goku go go--

Alright I’m cutting myself off there. One day I am going to just rip apart this scene by the seems, and maybe do the same with other scenes, because I may not be trained in animation but damn if I don’t have a lot of thoughts rattling around in my skull.
