Clone high season 2 episode concepts that would've actually been fun/cool
Abe tries to get into "real magic" to impress Joan by hanging out with Aleister Crowley and Arthur Conan Doyle. Jokes about people being too into Harry Potter being lame, jokes about paranormal teen shows a la Sabrina, etc.
Ronald Reagan and Nixon gets JFK into presidential themed crypto
Mean Girls episode parody about the Salem Witch trials or Bloody Queen Mary. They write themselves.
Episode where the main cast keep finding dead bodies, basically tripping over them, parody of teen murder mysteries, twist ending that the bodies are all failed/early clones (like the clone equivalent of a stillbirth. there was no murder)
Yellow Jackets Parody episode. the bus is out of gas or something and they're stuck in a large parking lot but act like they're in the woods.
Traveling championship episode. Debate team has to compete against high school where all the students are robots programmed to behave like the greatest scientists/leaders of all time
Trans episode parody. Abe realizes he isn't aligned with the modern republican party anymore and is therefore a Democrat, treated as a self-aware bad analogy maybe to the point of other characters finding it tasteless/annoying/Abe looking for attention
Cyberbullying episode parody, bonus points if it's gossip girl
Secret cousin/twin parody episode --- obvious starting point would be like. Anastasia because of how many people famously claimed to be her.
Supernatural teen romance parody episode. Abe tries to become a vampire with like Edgar Allen Poe or someone to impress Joan.
"Save the community center" episode --- This could be a great Harriet focused episode about like a bake sale or something to fund the arts but everyone is over exaggerating the stakes and the drama of being/not being a good baker. "My grandmother used to bake these cookies for me.....until she DIED" "My mother baked these cookies for me everyday I was in the hospital after falling out of that helicopter and they gave me the strength to survive" "I can't bake....my mom was always too busy with her business to teach me....." etc.
Big Mouth/Sex Ed parody episode. I think it would be really funny if THIS had been their technology episode, like getting a computer virus is treated like getting a STD and the cast talk about browsing the internet like it's casual sex, etc.
parody of those tasteless episodes about how like bullying leads to school shootings. Have like Abe or Joan or someone try to reach out to Napoleon or someone because they eat alone at lunch and because they think it's silly and mean everyone is afraid of them but then they are just like a violent maniac already. the solution is to get rid of him.
this might sound dumb but remember that one episode of jimmy neutron where jimmy was banned from the science fair for being too smart and killing the morale of any other student interested in participating? What if Clone High did that but as like a parody of anti-trans sports legislation. All the cloned scientists are banned from the science fair because it's an unfair advantage. All the Politian clones are banned from debate club, etc.
Social media/parasocial relationships parody episode where like JFK and Abe become obsessed with one another's online accounts not knowing it's them, despite Joan repeatedly telling them this, it becomes completely unhealthy but then whenever they do hang out together face-to-face they hate it and decide the parasocial relationship was better actually.
PRANK YOUTUBE/TIKTOK PARODY EPISODE ABOUT DB COOPER AND HOUDINI COME ON COME ON COME ON THIS ONE IS SO FUCKING OBVIOUS

I 100% believe Bishops brother isn't dead but left or stayed away because he got sick of Bishops vile behaviour.
I can see him finding him again only to see him screaming at some woman demanding sex
A mod for this would be great tbf, we meet his brother and his brother has nothing but distain for him and we get to romance him. Where we get an actual ranger who has added perks if you have survival mode on. Bishop leaves, his wolf refuses to go with him and we get a nice romance with a guy who is OK with no sex.
He won't insult or belittle the dB and will laugh at the fact Bishop really thought he was a shield to us or was the reason we still live
He will only mention his life as a child if we ask none of this constant boohoo I had to sleep on sticks
Bishop really is awful. He HATES the dragonborn they are nothing but a sex toy to him,an object for him use when he wants regardless of the db's words, Bishop is the type of person who thinks trauma is a competition that only he is allowed to win

As always, AkAm is my number one OTP. It’s one of those ships that works amazingly well with all three of Akai and Rei’s identities, and in a way you can tell an entire story with them. First, you have RyeBourbon, which is full of bitterness, passion, and rivalry with just a hint of genuine affection and trust until it all comes crashing down. Then you have OkiAmu/AkAm, where there are still things left unsaid and trauma that hasn’t been addressed, but at least there’s a chance now that they can be friends if not more. And finally ShuuRei, which is the happily-ever-after where, after everything is said and done, they’ve somehow both survived and found their way back to each other. They made it through hell and back, and now they can heal together because they understand each other in a way no one else can.
GinSherry is a complicated, fucked up, toxic mess for sure, but honestly that’s kind of what makes them so interesting. It’s pretty heavily implied that they were intimate before Gin killed Akemi and drove Shiho away from the BO, and it’s interesting to think about what their relationship was like before all the betrayal and bloodshed. Plus if GinSherry actually had something genuine in the past, that might actually provide some insight as to why Akemi thought he would be okay with letting Shiho go. The whole “if you love something, set it free” and all that.
While I’m an AkAm shipper until I die, I do still love ScotchRye and HiroRei. Also, I firmly believe that if Scotch was alive, the Whiskey Trio would all be in a polyam relationship with Shinichi/Conan as their adopted kid.
Speaking of which, Shinichi, Akai, and Rei will forever be my favorite found family, followed by Shinichi, Haibara, the DB, and Agasa, as well as Rei and his police academy friends.
HagiMatsu were/are soulmates and you cannot change my mind. I mean, they were literally each other’s last thoughts before they died.
If anyone’s read my fics, then you know I love platonic Shinichi and Sera. Also, while I couldn’t fit it onto the chart because it would have made it too messy, Shinichi, Sera, Ran, and Hattori being a dynamic group of teenage crime fighters/vigilantes is my favorite thing ever.
Jodie x Akai is a complicated one for me. While I do think they genuinely loved each other in the past, I’m not a huge fan of Jodie still being hung up on him years after they broke up, especially seeing as Akai never really acknowledges that there used to be anything between them at all. It’s entirely possible that Akai does still love her and is just too hung up on Akemi to move on, but unless we actually get a scene from his perspective that clearly depicts what his feelings for Jodie are currently, that’s just speculation. I like second chance romance, but second chance romance is not equivalent to “I’ll settle for you because the person I want to be with isn’t a viable option anymore”, and unfortunately, unless Gosho actually addresses Akai’s feelings about his past relationship with Jodie, that’s probably exactly what we’re going to get.
That being said, I do enjoy the idea of Jodie, Akai, and Camel being a very close-knit group of friends. O rei ne of my favorite headcanons is that Jodie and Camel like to troll Akai when they think he’s getting a little too serious about work and life in general.
ShuuAke (is that the ship name for Akai x Akemi?) is another complicated one for me. I very much dislike the fact that Gosho made them cousins (imo there was no point in it at all - Mary and Elena being sisters doesn’t add anything meaningful to the Akai family story at all), but the ship itself is so tragic and sweet that it’s impossible to dislike it completely. I love the idea of Akemi falling for Akai and believing there’s some good in him despite knowing that he was using her, as well as the two of them wanting a genuine future together that was always doomed to end in tragedy before it even began. And that’s the thing - they were never going to have a future together. Gin was never going to let Shiho go, and there’s no chance Akemi was going to abandon her sister to go be with Akai in America. Sure, she could have, but I firmly believe that Akemi’s dedication to her little sister was one of the things Akai loved about her, and if she essentially chose him over Shiho, she wouldn’t be the person he fell for.
Shukichi x Yumi is a cute ship and I love how much he adores her, but my god dude, PLEASE just propose to her already. Preferably when you’re both sober. At this rate Masumi is going to end up married before you and she doesn’t even HAVE a canon love interest.
I’ll always have a soft spot for ShinRan, and I do think they’re cute together. That said, CoAi/ShinShi’s bond is incredibly special. I’ve also grown to love KaiShin and HeiShin, as well as Sera x Ran and Ran x Kazuha. And of course I still love HeiZuha even though Hattori’s refusal to confess to Kazuha because he doesn’t want his confession to be “overshadowed” by Shinichi’s confession to Ran is getting VERY frustrating. Honestly, all the teens are very shippable with each other (minus Shiho x Sera because we do not need another Akai sibling dating their first cousin).
I don’t think AmuAzu would work well as a ship, but I do think it would make sense for Azusa to have a one-sided crush on Rei for a while before it eventually fizzles out and they end up just being good friends. I also like the idea of Akai and Azusa forming a weird friendship where they trade embarrassing stories about Rei (Akai does it out of revenge for Jodie and Camel befriending Rei to tell him embarrassing stories about him).

Yamcha y Freezer Ao3
When I saw @pen.lilixeesketch's drawings posted on her instagram profile I liked them a lot… however back then there weren't many fanfics/stories related to this unusual couple…
(Instagram profile link: https://www.instagram.com/p/B0rWL1WFV7I/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link)
However, over time, there were writers who moved us with their words and writings. In Ao3 there are a number of great stories about these two characters.
Here are the 10 links to the stories I've read so many times… I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do.
1.- Half a World Away for @majinpiccolo and SkinsT
Summary:
With Vegeta and Nappa rapidly approaching Earth, Yamcha has been training his hardest to face the oncoming threat. In a night of boredom, he finds Radditz's scouter in Bulma's lab, connecting him to someone that will change his, and their, life forever...
Starts during the Saiyan saga, will progress onwards through to Super.
2.- Survive to Save for SkinsT
Summary:
Frieza is summoned to assist with the invasion from the Demon Realm, as this could be the worst mission ever faced. But he remains very reluctant to take part in the battle. In a twist of events, Yamcha learns exactly why this is.
Takes place in the Xenoverse 2 Universe. Can still be read without playing the game, but there are some minor spoilers.
3.- Dancing Gods for SkinsT
Summary:
Where Beerus once stood, now stands Frieza, and his angel attendant is Yamcha. In Universe 7, things stay the same, but some things change completely. And as always... some things go entirely different than anyone could dream of, even the God's themselves.
(AU story of Frieza as the God of Destruction in place of Beerus, and Yamcha in place of Whis. This will not be a full retelling of DBS, but rather snippets here and there. The focus will be on Yamcha and Frieza primarily, with everything else as a background.)
4.- The entire Redcurrant saga of SkinsT
Summary:
What happens when a former tyrant comes back to life, put on a leash by the God of Destruction and is not the happiest camper, he finds amusement in the most unlikely of people? Set after Dragonball Super.
5.- Take a Deep Breath for @majinpiccolo
Summary:
Becoming a god is the first step in Frieza's plan to take control of all universes, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to reach that goal. But... some of the 'tests' he's been given to prove he's a suitable candidate seem almost like they're more for Beerus and Whis's twisted amusement than anything else. And now they want him to go on a date?! But Frieza isn't one to back down from a challenge, and while he's always been far too busy to worry about romance in the past, how hard can finding someone he can last through one single date with be? The deities have also assigned him some help to guide him through the world of dating- the eternally unlucky in love Yamcha. The human quickly warms up to the task when he realizes this could be the push he needed to finally make his own dreams of finding true love a reality! While the emperor of not caring about other people and the king of failed romance might not be a dream team for this seemingly simple task, they're not going to give up. Sometimes, when it comes to romance, all you need to do is take a deep breath and dive in...
6.- Perfect Stranger for @majinpiccolo
Summary:
When Yamcha wishes for more strength than a human body can handle the dragon instead transforms him into a member of Frieza's race. Hungry for a chance to prove himself and win the respect of his friends he heads out into space, planning to defeat the tyrant once and for all... but things don't exactly work out as he'd expected.
A story about two men, two transformations, two relationships, and how opposites attract.
7.- Restraining Order for JJJJORDAN
Summary:
"He's been tagged with a tracker that will go off when he leaves the atmosphere. Immediately putting him under arrest. And it will stay like that until the one who issued the restraining order lifts it.... and I am just going to tell you up front, that is not going to happen any time soon."
This isn't a full story. but a really small and dumb interaction I wanted to flesh out and share. The idea that Yamcha is legally not allowed to leave the planet, and Bulma is extremely confused on how and why.
You know who, I know who, Yamcha knows who, will Bulma figure it out?
8.- Don't Look Down for SecretWeaponSeven
It was supposed to just be once.
One night together so that Frieza and Yamcha could work through their forbidden mutual attraction.
But they couldn't stop there...
Falling in love can be a tricky thing, however, and it can change people- and this change isn't always for the better. It can be enough to make someone who was already a villain become even more jealous, possessive, and controlling, and it just might be enough to make a hero so single minded that he loses sight of everything else...
A smutty fic that's gonna get a bit dark. Don't say I didn't warn you.
9.- Free Of Charge for NobodyOfRelevancy
Summary:
Yamcha is looking for love, and is unable to resist the most beautiful creature he's possibly ever seen. Strip Club AU.
10.- Watch Your Wording for @majinpiccolo
Summary:
When Yamcha gathered the Dragon Balls and wished for a soulmate to be by his side forever, he got two surprises- first, that his soulmate is apparently a super villain, and second, that the dragon interpreted this wish very, very literally...
At another time post another list of 10 stories of this couple (Yamza forever).

Yellow #F8EA8C (Heart)
Heath #4F1130 (Eyes)
Sea Pink #ED9FB0 (Body)
Mandys Pink #F1C5BA (Stripes and Face Pattern)
Mulberry #C7437B (Belly Pattern)
Psychology: Fails to learn from experience
Self-discipline: Quick to change interests, May be taken advantage of, Consistently Motivated
Lifestyle: Enthusiastic, Excitable
Social attitude: Friendly and Centre of attention
Honesty and honour: Sincere, Lives in the moment and Loves new experiences
Emotional capacity: Warm and Supportive
Current emotional state: Awed
Main trait: Expresses too much appreciation of someone or something, regardless of how cool or mundane it actually is. Easilly gets infatuated if anyone even interacts with her.
Sub trait: Not everything's gotta be about her. It's important that others could also experience the wonders of romance. That's why she got a shop full of romantic items and a love clinic for blind dates and matchmaking. In the circus, she does tarot reading in her tent stand and interprets the fate of her friends.
Similar characters/Inspirations: Lola Bunny (In the Looney Tunes show itteration), Pucca, Ebichu, Irving (Phineas and Ferb), Rosie (Thomas and Friends), Sierra (Total Drama Island), Amy (Sonic series)
Underlying issues: This behavior is similar to erotomania, which is a resolute and delusional belief by someone that another person is in love with them. Her try hard demeanor of showing affection could be problematic if applied in real life, regardless if the "target" acknowledges her or see the attention unwelcome.
Gags: Wears accesories/costumes similar to her "target" (may or may may not be the designer behind the Splendid cosplay worn by Toothy that haloween ep) ; Her gifts always cause direct harm to the receiver in one way or another ; says "Love ya too!" loudly ; love letters and tarot cards keeps switching usage might be misinterpreted as threat
Endings: At the end of every ep where she survives, it is shown that she is infatuated with another critter and switch targets ; On the other hand, is she dies, it's because of the action of her target, could be intentional or circumstantial
Common Deaths: Exploded (lol heart exploded for too much excitement), Crushed (ahaha get it?), Shocked (happens around DB and Handy), Suffocated (Ya really took my breath away), Sliced (either by her tarot cards or love letters)
Songs with same vibes: Paparazzi, You belong with me, Cheerleader, Lovefool
Meta plan: Mostly a visual background character. Barely a featuring character. She's to be used as part of the fangirls of anyone that is needed to be fangirl for.
(really need to reorganize my oc's doc files, maybe upload them all on HTF wiki one day? I don't get the coding stuff and kinda embarassed sharing this tho so maybe never xD)

Loki (2021) Positivity from an Anti
Ok so all of my mutuals know I’m extremely anti-Loki (2021), anti-sylki, and anti-sylvie. But at a certain point, even we antis get tired of all the negativity. So! Here’s some Loki series commentary in the opposite direction! This is a list of all the things about the show that I loved :)
Also adding a disclaimer that all of this is just my opinion and some of my fellow antis (or even people who liked the show) might disagree, and that’s fine! I’ve been planning this post for awhile. I always say in my other posts that I don’t entirely hate the show and I wanted to be a little more specific about what I think are its good aspects. Feel free to leave your thoughts!
• Mobius is a gem (Owen Wilson owns my whole heart) and his relationship with Loki is so so great. He’s not one-dimensional at all, he has conflicted loyalty and is morally complex, and he has the tragic backstory- which makes him a perfect choice for eventually becoming Loki’s first genuine friend.
• The casting was really really great. Lots of women and people of color. Most of the female actresses (as well as the males) are over 30, which isn’t very common and is fantastic!
• Superb acting all around. I can’t think of a single scene where the actors under or oversold it.
• Beautiful set design, incredible cgi, and gorgeous cinematography overall. It looked more like a movie than a tv show, which is really good.
• Kang being the big bad was a huge plus for me. Johnathan Majors was perfect in the role, his vibes were immaculate, and I was honestly pretty worried that the man behind the curtain would end up being another Loki variant, which imo would’ve been boring and predictable and counter-productive, so it was a big relief when that didn’t happen.
• I like that it sets up a bunch of future marvel movies, rather than being contained to its own little world. It gives it more importance and (hopefully) will encourage writers to not just toss Loki’s character aside in future projects.
• All the Loki variants were delightful. All of them except Sylvie. Kid Loki has my heart. Boastful Loki is a fashion icon. Alligator Loki is a savage. President Loki is the superior variant. Classic Loki became my fav character in less than half an episode.
• It showed some more variety in Loki’s magic. A lot of his powers we’ve seen before, but it feels like they were portrayed a bit more blatantly in the show. The energy blasts, the telekinesis, the teleportation… Outstanding.
• It also implied that Loki has the potential to be waaaay more powerful than he knows he is right now, which? Yes.
• Some of the quotes- and the themes behind them- are just profound as hell. Such as:
“I think we’re stronger than we realise.”
“It’s never too late to change.”
“You can be whoever you wanna be, even someone good.”
“We’re Lokis. We survive. It’s what we do.”
“Loki, God of Outcasts.”
“The universe wants to break free, that’s why it manifests chaos.”
• Technically Loki was Marvel’s first canon lgbt (bi) character, which is a win. His genderfluidity is also technically canon, even if it wasn’t really acknowledged on-screen.
• There were a lot of throwback references to Thor 1, Avengers, and Thor The Dark World. Which I loved.
• Sylvie’s so pretty. Her hair and makeup and costume were all perfect.
• Big fan of Loki finally getting Laevateinn.
• Sufficiently slutty imagery, courtesy of a female director (Loki in a collar, kneeling to Sif, President Loki looking down into the bunker, the hair flips)
• The music was Excellent Wonderful and Superb.
• I love that Loki being a good singer is now canon.
• I love that Asgardians having their own language is now canon (even if it’s basically just Icelandic).
• I also love that they disproved all of those “Loki was a shy nerdy wallflower pre-canon” theories in Episode 3. The drinking/eating/singing scene was fun, if a bit wacky.
• There’s a million different reasons why Loki does what he does, especially in regards to the New York attack (I’m literally writing a huge meta on them), but somehow I never considered that Loki being desperate for control was one of them. It makes a lot of sense, and I always love getting new insights into his motivations.
• I love that Loki finally outright acknowledged that he doesn’t enjoy hurting people. We Been Knew™️ but it’s still nice to hear it out loud from his own mouth.
• The TVA outfit wasn’t as hideous as some people make it out to be. It could’ve been A Look, even. You know, if he’d just accessorised a little better. And kept the jacket on. And not gotten sweaty. And not gotten dirty. And maybe had at least one other costume change… But it had potential, though!!
• Even though I despise the Obvious One, I did actually like some of the other romance crumbs they tossed us (sifki, Loki x the flight attendant).
• The whole DB Cooper thing was iconic idc idc.
• Loki’s hyper sort of overly excited puppy attitude in episode 2 was actually pretty refreshing and funny (for awhile). And now I can headcanon him as adhd, yeehaw.
• “We’re all villains here.” That quote was iconic, my favourite one in the show. And the entire theme that it summarised was really great as well. When you think about it, every single main character in this series has been the villain at one point or another. I mean, I know all marvel characters do bad things etc, but none of the Heroes are ever narratively categorised as Bad. This show did just that with all of them, though. . Loki was framed as the psychopath that attacked New York. Sylvie was framed as the murderous fugitive. The TVA/Ravonna/Mobius were framed as the murderous fascists. Kang was framed as the crazy totalitarian. It’s made clear that all the Loki variants were the villains of their stories.
However, every single main character in the series is also framed as the Hero at a certain point. Loki is framed as the main protagonist who throws a wrench in the TVA’s dastardly plans. Sylvie is framed as the persevering freedom fighter who wants to take down the fascists. The TVA/Mobius/Ravonna are framed as the ones who maintain order for the greater good. Kang is framed as the weird but ultimately benevolent wise man who’s just trying to prevent something worse from happening. The Loki variants are framed as generous allies who befriend the main character and help him on his journey.
Everyone in this equation is openly acknowledged by the narrative to be morally corrupt, but not entirely morally bankrupt. There are no Straightforward Hero Figures (like the Avengers) in this entire scenario at all, and that makes for a super interesting dynamic that marvel has never done before. So yes: “We’re all villains here.” But also: “No one bad is ever truly bad, and no one good is ever truly good.” I loved that.
• Even if it wasn’t really enough imo, I still treasure the crumbs we got of Loki being competent and capable (him putting the collar on B-15, him figuring out Sylvie’s hiding place, him teaching himself to enchant on the fly while fighting a giant cloud beast of eldritch proportions).
• I love that B-15 was the one who stepped in and saved the day in Episode 4, when we all thought it was gonna be Mobius. What a queen.
• Marvel usually has a bit of a problem with creating compelling and memorable side characters. But aside from Sylvie, I genuinely got attached to every single character in this show. Like Casey, C-20? I was seriously emotionally invested in them and they were only in like 2 episodes. Wtf.
• Introducing the TVA storyline in the Loki series specifically was a really good move. I’m not saying they executed it well, just that it had a ton of potential. A lot of people have wondered why marvel even thought to put those two (the TVA and Loki) together, when they had literally nothing to do with each other, nothing in common, and essentially no connection at all. But when you think about it, it’s a really interesting twist on both of those stories. Forcing the embodiment of destructive chaos and the pillar of rigid order to interact could make for some seriously entertaining and compelling television. And as far as meshing these two completely unrelated entities together goes, I thought they did it pretty well- at least just the bare bones of the story (loki being arrested by the TVA and being one of their most common variants).
So that’s it! If you guys (fellow antis) wanna add stuff you liked, feel free. If anyone wants to discuss (or debate) my list, feel free to do that too!

ACT 4
Continuation of the post reblogged with. Read that first before looking at this one as that one has a ton of disclaimers to it.
(Warning, Vigilant spoilers!!)
(This section won't have written lines, but instead best hits from me rabbling about ideas on discord)
It really isn't until Act 4 that everything goes completely wrong (obviously!)
Tumblr media
(Once again, every thing below is assumed that the player would have all the sidekicks in their party. If one was missing for the load order, or if the DB didn't bring them to the manor, they would not be in Act 4 at all.)
Act 4 opens up normally for the Player inside the temple. Nothing would really change until they left it and headed outside to Coldharbor. Out there would be the familiar face of Gabrielle.
As you can imagine, Gabrielle is freaking the fuck out! On the verge of a panic attack, she wouldn't even realized the DB is there until they come up to calm her. Once doing so, they discover Gabrille has been in Coldharbor for about an hour before the DB.
You two have a quick talk about the situation, and note that they must find the others as soon as possible.
Throughout the quest, all sidekicks would have made comments on the various quests throughout Coldharbor. But the sidekicks and where to find them is all spread out.
Gabrielle, Disnel, and Varrick are found early on.
Once getting to the small town (that I think is next on the map. Idk, been a while since I played Vigilant,) Gabrielle and the DB come across a giant skeever looking for help. Upon talking to the skeever, a very familiar voice rings out; Disnel.
Talking with Disnel you learn she woke up as a Skeever and she thinks she's been here for a few days. She doesn't know where the others are, and is horrified of her new form. (For those that never got dialogue on her opinions on Skeevers, they scare here, deeply.) Just like Gabrielle, you calm down Disnel and you all go about your way.
Next, who would have been much harder to find, located in a small shack (the shack had a broken floorboard which I had planned to use,) is an old man with bandages covering his whole head. The man doesn't try to fight the DB when they appear, but instead cowers in fear.
Once speaking with him, the DB learns it's Varrick. While not much older than he was, only by half a year, he is beaten and afraid. Varrick tells the group when he awoke here he didn't wave in his faith. Bal laughed at him over this and demanded he be taken to the arena. For months Varrick fought. He continued and continued to fight. Many times he hoped Boethiah would see his strength and break him from Bal's clutches, but they never came. Every time Varrick found himself on the brink of death, he would be awake once more. The Prince (unsure if it was Boethiah or Bal,) refused to let him die. But one day, there was a prison break and Varrick took the opportunity to escape.
Varrick cries to himself that he failed his prince. He now hides and cowers in a small shack; living off of the bugs that make their way through the rubble.
Here, the DB can comfort him, or push him futher into dispair. Perhaps the choices would effect whether the old man has truly given up or not.
The DB had the chance to tell him he survived and that was his faith of Boethiah; to keep surviving till the bitter end. Maybe they say Boethiah has abandoned them and it's time to have faith in himself. Maybe they say Bal coudl have blocked Boethiah from reaching out to him, she hasn't abandoned him. Or, maybe, the DB tells Varrick they are a failure to be hiding in such a state and leave him be.
But if comforted, Varrick will have the resolve to keep going. Especially if romanced, Varrick couldn't leave the DB to do this on their own. Even if there is a chance Boethiah abandoned him, ther eis one person who could be by his side; his love.
During the course of moving through Coldharbor, the DB will start to notice a strange, tall, muscular figure weilding an axe watching them. A voice even warning the DB to "Leave that body alone!" But, no one can be spoken to, so the DB and team keep moving onwards.
And here we are. Full circle. Where we started when I posted this:
Tumblr media
The next sidekick we would find in the worst place for our sweet prince; the sewers. Yes, as the DB and co traveled in the sewers of Coldharbor they would quickly find themselves against a ragged, mess of a vampire. He's next to mad on bloodlust and while he plans to attack the DB, very quickly recognizes them.
Caryalind, now a vampire, hides away from the DB and is scared he may hurt them. He hasn't drank any blood in months and fears when he may turn ferral.
Of course, as the picture shows, the DB can give him the option to take some of their blood to quench his thirst and give the man some sense of sanity.
Tumblr media
Maybe it's not all bad though. I did take note of something else:
Tumblr media
Caryalind's story in Coldharbor is much longer than the others. Caryalind has been here for two years.
When he first appeared in Coldharbor, a clan of vampires were quick to notice him and kidnap him. They had planned to use him if they ever were able to make it back to Tamriel. Use the prince as ransom to gain some kind of power in the Dominion. During this time, Caryalind was turned and used as a source of blood to feast on from time to time.
For the first year and a half he was with the vampires. However, someone attacked the Clan. These groups of attackers were the lackies of a powerful mage who worked with Bal to collect and sell souls around Coldharbor. Caryalind didn't plan to stay and get killed, or his soul harvested, so he ran away and found himself in the sewers. He hasn't been to the surface since.
Finally, with one last person to find the team keeps moving.
(One more of our sad little banana vampire boi!)
Tumblr media
Khash was the one that would have perhaps the most work put into her setup. While the others you mainly find and speak to, Khash's disappearance would be a presence that would haunt the DB.
Where before a mysterious figure simply warned you, now, the same figure, no longer warning (or speaking at all for that matter,) hunted down the DB. This figure couldn't die, but instead would be on a time limit. Survive their attacks for so long (or run away,) and they would disappear.
This would all come to a head when the DB entered the city proper of Coldharbor. Soon enough being teleported away from whatever they were doing. Alone in a hall where a new figure stands atop a balcony. The figure yells at the DB to "Leave that body alone! Get out of them!" The Bigger figure from before appears on the floor with the DB and attacks.
Upon defeating this figure, the one on the balcony teleports down to the DB and attacks. Wielding magic (and a spear if I could find the resource for it,) in hopes to kill the DB.
Finally, once the stranger is down they say again and again in anger to leave the body. They try to use their standing to scare the DB. They are a soul merchant. They work right under Bal. They will make sure you suffer ten fold in the depths of this hell! But then they use that one magic word. "I will make sure you suffer ten fold in this tusking Hell!"
It's Khash.
Khash denies anything the DB says at first. She thinks of a monster using the DB memories even and curses their name. But soon enough, she comes to. Khash removes her mask and she is not the little lizard daughter anymore. She older, rugged, and tired. She tells the player she has been in Coldharbor for 43 years (now our little girl is 56 years old.)
Tumblr media
Khash returns the DB back to where they were before and to the rest of the group. She comes too and reveals to everyone when she first came the daedra here thought it would be humorous to send a child to the arena to be slaughtered. If the DB and Khash had one of the conversations towards the beginning of the mod she tells them "I told you I would take care of myself."
Khash didn't falter in those battles. She fought with all she had. New enemies would be sent her way, but she knew she had to take care of herself. And soon enough her strength was noticed.
Khash was bought to be a servant for a powerful mage and soul collector. This person worked closely with Bal, so as Khash worked for this mage, she too found herself growing closer and closer to Bal.
While I had not yet decided on the reason, things would lead up to Khash killing the mage and taking his spot. (There were many ideas for this. One being Bal asked her to do it to prove herself. Another, which would have more quest stuff going on, was another servant of the mage encouraged Khash to kill him so they could gain their freedom. This other servant was going to be a sort of crazy ex character that the DB would need to find and kill for Khash to get a good ending in the mod.)
Either way, once Khash killed the mage, she took his place and began to collect and sell souls for Bal. For years Khash became cruel and cold. Looking out for only herself and not letting anyone trick her. She had to take care of herself.
There were times though Khash noticed this in herself. She hated the monster she had become. She hated who she was and wished she could go back. But she made a promise. But then, many years later, she heard of a vampire clan that found an Aldmeri Prince. Khash knew right away who it was. There was a chance for something from the old self that was but a distant memeory. She had the chance to do good. She could save Caryalind.
It never happened. She had her men raid the clan, but Caryalind was no where to be found. Khash fell further into dispair and considered all this a lost cause. So she tried to forget who she even used to be. All the way to the point that when she saw the DB (with everyone or not,) she assumed some daedra stole their body and was parading around in it. She at least wanted her friend to rest in peace without their body being disturbed, so that led to her confronting the DB, and now, here she is.
Khash, at this point in time, is lost what to do with herself. Could she really go back to the way things were? She doubt it. But if the DB could promise it, she would take them up on the offer.
(Now, and intermission of other Discord screenshots!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the end of Vigilant, everything plays as normal. Mainly everyone wonders what will become of them when they return to Tamriel.
Will Varrick have Boethiah again? Will he need to retire this life after the wounds from the arena?
Will Disnel still be a skeever?
Will Caryalind still be mad with bloodlust?
Will Khash's life only be Coldharbor?
Tumblr media
Yep! When the DB wakes none of their friends are anywhere to be found. However, they are back at the temple of Stendarr, as they were before Act 3, waking up from horrible nightmares.
However, I didn't want Vigilant's ending to be a cop-out. I wanted there to be consequences. Nightmares are one thing, but Daedric nightmares are another.
You would have wanted to play Vigilant last, cause taking the sidekicks with you would have consequences to their characters going forward.
Tumblr media
Warning! Ungodly loud!
youtube
So, there you have it! The fuck mess that is the SOT reaction to Vigilant. Once again, none of this is canon (or may have been changed drastically at the end,) since it was never implemented, but I still wanted to share what all could have happened in my mods.
If you read ALL of this, thank you so much for letting me take you on this ride! I hope you enjoyed it, and if any other mod authors read this and would like to use any of these ideas for their stuff, feel 100% free!
Okay, Context time!
Context for this post: https://www.tumblr.com/rabbittwinrithings/767780169766322176/oh-dear-oh-no-i-tripped-and-fell-and?source=share
Pulling the band aid off, I drew this during the time I was Brainstorming/writing Vigilant dialogue for the SOT followers.
With this post I do have a disclaimer that all of this will never come to SOT since I have stepped away. None of this stuff was ever finalized (writing was also in first draft phase,) especially act 4 stuff as I was speaking with some VAs to make sure the contents were alright with them. I know Vigilant is a taxing story, and to build reactions to it would take a lot of work to make sure everyone involved was comfortable with the content the included. So yea, none of this is canon. (Also, poor Gabrielle is missing her thy, thee, etc, for first draft reasons. Tragic.)
(PS. sorry if I get details or events wrong, I haven't played this mod in a hot minute and may misinterpret my own notes on when things take place.)
With all that said, spoilers below for the mod, Vigilant (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/11849)
Long post starting now!
The Vigilant reactions involved dialogue not only by each SOT follower (Khash, Caryalind, Varrick, Disnel, and Gabrielle,) but also dialogue with one another. Though I only wrote Act 1, I tried to write dialogue that was pretty dynamic so if you didn't have one or two of the group, the others would still hold conversations over the varying subjects with one another. But, the best way to play it would have been with all of them.
Each follower had their own thoughts upon joining the Vigilants. For example,
Khash: Was very excited. To fight daedra and all. Sounded really cool to her.
Caryalind: As well enjoyed the idea. He brings up the Vigilants in the summerset isles and what good work they were doing.
Disnel: Doesn't really know the Vigilants, but the idea of them interested her.
Gabrielle: Found them noble enough. She has a history of aiding them, and this felt no different.
Varrick: Is where the joining took a turn. He even has a conversation with the player about if he should be worried about getting a knife in the back. During the whole first Act, Varrick would be a character who worries about his safety amongst the Vigilants, and talks shit from time to time.
This quest would also mark the tension between Varrick and Gabrielle. (Scene belows take place inside the Vigilant's HQ)
Tumblr media
Gabrielle also was very cautious of Khash's saftey. She knows what Daedra would be like and wants to make sure she is safe.
Tumblr media
Some additional dialogue I like after finding and fighting the vampire who tried to lure you in by talking about "her sweetrolls."
Tumblr media
Cary also caring for Khash:
Tumblr media
Once far enough into the Act, Gabrielle would bring up concerns with the player:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was also a legend in development to keep track of the player's choices in this dialogue:
Tumblr media
Then a conversation with Khash:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's a lot of player conversations. But Gabrielle and Varrick still butted heads.
Tumblr media
They also all say "Fuck Windhelm!"
Tumblr media
In Riften there is a conversation about the mess in the sewers. However, I didn't really post it here as it's basically everyone being horrified and the DB can tell them about their vision or not.
Varrick being there for Jacob during the trek under the Vigilant tower:
Tumblr media
Everyone take care of the scared daughter:
Tumblr media
Another Varrick conversation regarding the "witches:"
Tumblr media
Fighting Altano:
Tumblr media
More fun freak outs!
Tumblr media
PSA: Don't bring your lizard daughter on this quest:
Tumblr media
More conversations
Tumblr media
By the end of Act 1, each companion gets there own prophecy from Molag Bal
Tumblr media
Each companion would have conversations with the player to discuss these prophecies they heard in their head. Below are just fragments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this marks the end of Act 1 and everything that I had written for the reactions.
I had a feeling Act 2 wasn't going to be as extensive. Just them reacting to the vampire stuff. However, there would be a bigger focus on Caryalind for... reasons...
Act 3 was where things were gonna be easy, but go downhill.
At the start of Act 3, the Player goes to the manor, but the companions are said to have to stay outside as they are not officially Vigilants of Stendarr. Sadly, when the player enters the manor, they hear the screams of their companions and friends through the door they just walked through. Act 3 then continues on like normal.
Okay! That is the end of this post. HOWEVER, I will be posting how ACT 4 goes tomorrow in a separate post as I hit the image limit and have some screenshots of stuff I said during brainstorming on Discord. Trust me, it will be more in depth than Act 2 and 3 as I had a ton of plans for Act 4. Just didn't have exact lines like Act 1. So, keep an eye out for the final part of this post tomorrow!

Recently was working on some custom Expedition cards, specifically for a werewolf class. After realizing that half the cards were buffs that benefited your party in some shape or form, it got me thinking more about werewolf socialization, in DnD and in Elder Scrolls. Sadly werewolves in DnD are very different from TES, but in TES at least I have a bit more room with them as the bloodlust isn't as bad.
Poor DnD wolfies. I'll definately need to create an "evil" lycan character at some point for sessions.
Anyhow, some werewolf socialization/romance headcanons for TES woofers.
- A Pack consists of both a werewolf's blood family or of those they've personally bitten, then bringing into their ranks. Often lycans opt out of interacting with people in general, so it isn't uncommon that they start a family with another packmate.
- For lycans that have a spouse outside of the pack, it's usually frowned upon if the pack is kept a secret. It's seen as disrespectful as, under Hircine's word, the pack is your family first. With blood family it's understandable to hide- you can't choose who brought you into this world. But you can choose who you brought into your world, and if you chose them, then they should have no issue with your pack mates.
- It is a BIG no no to take a spouse from another pack, even if there is no friction between your two packs whatsoever. You either leave your pack and join theirs, or they leave and join yours. There are no "star crossed lovers" allowed. A pack is a unit, meant to have strong ties so that their hunts are fluid and successful every night. How can your packmates trust your head is in the game if your heart lies within another pack?
- Usually marriages between two packmates consist of the couple leaving for the night to hunt together, alone, in an unfamiliar territory. No worries, your packmates have already scouted the area, once the couple has decided where they want to hunt. So no threats of Silver Dawn. Everything else the wilds have to offer in terms of danger still remain. The couple hunt together, and in the morning bring back as much as they can carry. This provides a "Sunrise Feast", symbolizing the dawn of a new life together which their packmates celerabete with them. After that, rings are exchanged, if even desired.
- When packmates do have children, be it with another packmate or with a partner outside of the pack, the pack is non hostile towards them. Unless they are the offspring of two packmates, it's highly suggested they do not interact with the pack until in their teens. By "not hostile" it's more so that the pack isn't angry nor do they consider the child a threat to sapping away their packmate's attention. They genuinely hope the child grows to one day accept Hircine's blessing, and join their pack. But...it isn't wise to have a child waltz in around whelp and seasoned lycans. I think the one questline in Skyrim can answer why.
- If the child is born by two packmates, it's accepted into the pack earlier. I mean, what choice would they have if both parents live with the pack 24/7. In order to keep the baby safe, seasoned members, including the alpha, of the pack often accompany the parents, and form a very strong godparent bond to the child. They force it on themselves, physically and mentally. They have to see the child as theirs, in terms of territory, for fear their bloodlust could gain an inch. They take the slightest wrong glance at the child by any pack member as a threat and will give that individual a thrashing. Nothing that bone breaking, but bad enough that they'll feel it for a week. It may seem extreme, but enforcing the mindset that the baby is a part of their territory and pack is a necessity that HAS to be constantly reinforced on the daily. It's for the baby's safety.
- This kind of behavior goes on for a while, until the child reaches preteens, but sometimes it dies out sooner than that. It all depends when the child shows a more pronounced nature, and displays interest and active support to the pack. In which case, they pack begins to see them as a member naturally. But still, the seasoned members keep careful watch.
- I know the big question: When is the child bitten? Well, the answer you would think would be "Right away, as soon as they could survive the bite." Like how the assassin in the ESO DB was forced to drink lycan blood by her family at a young age? Well, perhaps in the more ruthless packs, but not among proper packs that actually want to stay in existance for more than four seasons before the Silver Dawn find them!
- In a structured lycan pack, children are bitten or allowed to drink lycan blood once they reach their teen years. This is done through a ceremony to Hircine, where the teen must be old enough to hunt on their own, bring back an impressive kill, and present it before Hircine. This proves their worth as a potential lycan hunter, and Hircine will then allow his hounds to give them a bite, or let the teen drink of lycan blood.
- Typically it is the parent or alpha who gives the bite. If going for the blood route, it is always the alpha that donates their blood.
- To be a true lycan, a true hunter and beast of the wild, NEVER forget that what Hircine has given you was a choice you made. To force it upon another individual who could potentially soil and disgrace the blessing is a whelp's mistake. Any grown lycan knows better. For those born with the gift, well, then it wasn't something you chose, but it definately chose you, as such things are rare. But most any structured pack would welcome in such a rarity, and prove what a blessing it is. Regardless, no child is forced to take the gift. Pressured and expected to? Yes. But never outright forced.

Collision AU
Alternately the Everbody Loves Jaskier Because He’s a Sweetheart AU
Hear me out, canonically, there are different worlds that Ciri can hop to and from.  Why the shit not use that to make crossovers?  Because, Ciri isn’t the only one who can do it, and why not characters from other games/books I love?  And the chaos that would ensue…This got long, sorry.
*This is basically my excuse to have multiple powerful people adore Jaskier because the bard deserves it. Fuck off.  Also, Geralt gets a shovel talk from someone who can back it up?
*So, there is Some Shit™ that happens and now multiple worlds can basically freely access each other and that?  Is not good. Tamriel, The Northern Kingdoms and Thedas collide as simultaneous cataclysmic explosions of power occur on all 3 coincide and create a connection.  You do not want things from The Northern Kingdoms to get involved with things from Thedas or Tamriel.  Or vice versa.
*Just saying, a Darkspawn Kikimora is a BAD DAY. The Daedric Princes would have a field day with the people in The Northern Kingdoms; especially Sheogorath and Sanguine.  And the kinds of vampirism present in both Tamriel and The Northern Kingdoms would cause some fucking problems in Thedas.
*Plus no one is prepared for the demons.  Thedosian demons are bad all by themselves, adding other magics to the mix just makes it worse.  Even Vesemir is like “Fuck this I need an ale.”
                                            Starting With Thedas
*I’ll be super honest, I mostly want to have an excuse for Geralt and the other Witchers to meet The Iron Bull and have no fucking idea what to think about him.  Here is this. Guy.  And he’s a certifiable BAMF. Routinely fights dragons and calls it fun, could go toe to toe with a Witcher and also call it fun but he’s also NOT a grumpy jerk.  These things do not equate in Witcher logic.
*Jaskier and Bull get into a Pun-Off, it ends with Jaskier conceding to Bulls “Pun-ishing grasp of wordplay”.  Jaskier brings Bull to tears of laughter with a few really dirty songs.
*Bull might seem like a big loud brute, but he is so freaking smart and he loves talking about poetry forms with Jaskier, and how easy it is to sway hearts and minds with just a little story telling and embellishment. He also introduces Jaskier to The Chargers and gets a “Dammit Chief.” from a long suffering Krem.
*Jaskier creates The Chargers Sonata and they all love it.
*Jaskier and Dorian are destined to be the very best friends.  Both in love a with a big strong warrior with a heart of gold, both love wine, both love fashion and music.  Both actually rather scholarly in their respective fields.  Dorian and Jaskier can both talk for hours, and Geralt gets annoyed until he realizes how much it means to Jaskier to have a friend he can just talk to.  Who can and will just talk back.  It’s cannon in book/game verse that Jaskier is actually Julian Alfred Pankratz, Viscount de Lettenhove and thus a noble.  He and Dorian connect over horrifying fathers, surviving abuse and unrealistic expectations that they turned their backs on.  More to come on this because, oh, I have so many thoughts about Jaskier’s backstory.
*Vivienne and Yennefer drink wine and talk so much shit.  Madame De Fer yearns for Power and Respect. Yennefer has these two attributes in spades.  Yennefer is powerful in all the ways Vivienne wishes she could be.  And Yennefer finds a kindred soul in Vivienne, someone who takes all their bitterness and anger and wraps it around them in a fashionable wall of armor.  A woman who wants to be more than what people have decided she will be.  Beautiful, clever, deadly and powerful.  But both of them have just that little chink, that soft place named either Bastien or motherhood. That small hurting part and they find comfort in knowing that there is another person who matches them so well.  They are later joined by Triss.
*So, Joey Batey is 5’9”/175.26 cm and Henry Cavill is 6’1”/185.42 cm, but in my head Geralt is taller.  So, I tend to leave Jaskier around 5’9” and Geralt around 6’5”/195.58 cm.  This leads to a conversation, because the Iron Bull is described as being over 7 ft/ 213.36 cm tall, it’s never really specified, but I always sort of put him at closer to the 8 foot/243.84 cm mark because horns.
Geralt: I never knew how much your neck had to hurt?
              Jakier: ???????
Geralt: I have never had to look up at someone to talk to them before.                 Not as an adult at any rate.  You have to do it all the time.
               Jaskier: (ಠ_ಠ)     (ง'ಠ -'ಠ)ง
*The Iron Bull thinks Jaskier puts up with too much crap from Geralt.
*Dorian just pats Bull on the arm, because he knows what it’s like to fall in love fast and hard with someone who ‘doesn’t do romance’ or ‘no feelings’.  Dorian knows how deeply Jaskier fell in such a short amount of time.  Because even if he struggles to say it, he fell for Bull the exact same way.  And by the grace of the Inquisitor, Dorian gets to have his love returned.  But oh, he will never forget the days of loving a man who’s very culture forbade romantic attachment.  And he also knows how Geralt feels; how absolutely terrifying it is to be loved by someone you know is too good for you.
                                            Starting With Tamriel
*The Companions are having a damn good time fighting all the shit coming to Tamriel, because unknown monsters invading?  Worlds colliding and spilling chaos into each other?  That’s what makes Heroes and stories that are told for generations.
*Until Vilkas gets the blight, Torvar gets clawed to death by a despair demon, and Njada is gored by a royal griffin.
*Farkas has never even thought of a world without his twin, and he doesn’t know what to do now that he lives in it.
*Jaskier reaches out to Farkas, because he can’t stand people being so sad.  “Tell me about your brother, tell me his adventures and manner and I will immortalize him in songs and stories across your world AND mine.”
*Farkas really comes to treasure Jaskier, even if he “Talks to fucking much.”  They develop the kind of friendship where one chatters and the other kind of nods?  Farkas has no clue what Jaskier is talking about most of the time but he really doesn’t mind listening.
*Jaskier carefully teaches Farkas to read, because Farkas is not actually stupid in my head.  I think he’s dyslexic, and when you have a learning disability and you get told you are stupid often enough, you start to believe it.
*Farkas’ Nord DB Wife appreciates the effort and comes to really appreciate Jaskier.
*Spoiler alert; She is the one to give Geralt the shovel talk because he is next to nothing compared to her. A steel blade or silver blade won’t touch dragon bone armor and signs are a joke to her. She could literally rip his soul out with a shout before he could do dick.  Axii can’t touch the mind of a this crazy bitch who’s gone against Hermaeus Mora and come out completely unscathed.  She knows no fear and every Witcher within a mile of her has their instincts screaming.  She’s just so oddly fucking soft. Her big sweet husband, sweet adopted children and twins on the way adding to already soft curves absolutely does not mesh with the aura of danger danger danger she exudes.
*Jaskier seems to be loved by people from worlds that are not his own and it makes him feel like he doesn’t belong and he should have been born somewhere else.  Feeling like he’s outsider starts crushing him and then Geralt just holds him.  Surrounds the slender bard with his bulk and relieves some of that pressure.
*“You belong with me, songbird.  I am glad you are in my world.”  It’s not, “I love you”, but it’s pretty fucking close and now he can’t wait to tell Dorian and Farkas.
There is a ton more to come, but I am writing waaay too much in head cannon posts.  Sorry my friends.  This is totally going to be Geraskier though.  It’s going to happen.  I am almost done with my half elf Jaskier thing too.  I’ll post it here in a bit.

shadowjack12345 replied to your photo “Got a commission this week by the awesome FrauleinPflaume, and it...”
Nice to finally see Zatte, I always liked her - she's dangerous in a way we don't often get in DB.
Hey, thanks, that means a lot to me.    Also, this is all the prompting I need to try to explain how I came up with the character.   Spoilers under the cut.
The thing that held me up early on was that I couldn’t decide if Luffa’s “career” in the past should be long or short.   I used the Bardock: Father of Goku TV special as a model of a “short” Luffa arc.    You have this character who’s only mentioned in passing (by Raditz), and the TV special fleshes him out and kills him off in the space of an hour.   Then he wakes up in the past in the 2011 “Episode of Bardock” Special, if you want to count that.    On some level, I imagined it could be possible to give Luffa a really quick run in her native era, and then send her to the future to join the TIme Patrol, like the Bardock specials.
I worked on Chapter 126 and 127 today, so I think it’s clear that I did not go down that route.   I knew the alternative would be to really flesh out the character, having her go through multiple adventures like Goku in Dragon Ball.   That meant I had to come up with extra stuff for her to do.   The simple fact is that I really enjoyed writing the character, and I wanted to take the long road, so that later on, when she refers to her past exploits, there would be some weight to them.
So I worked on coming up with stuff for her to do in between major plot points.   I thought about giving her some love interests, since we’d never seen a Saiyan character jump from one relationship to another, like Spider-Man in the 70′s.   At some point, I thought it might be interesting to have her run into an old flame, someone who knew her before she went Super.
The problem with that was that when we first meet Luffa, she’s only 19 years old, and she’s been married to Kandai for about a year.    And she’s been living on the Dorlun colony for about five years.    I say this like someone else foisted this problem on me, but I’m the one who came up with all that stuff, to better amplifly the tragedy she experiences before turning Super Saiyan.   This isn’t some seasoned veteran who’s been all over the universe, loving and leaving ‘em from one planet to the next.     She’s young and inexperienced and isolated in a very small community.
But I still liked the idea, and I hadn’t published Chapters 1-10 yet, so I still had a lot of room to set things up for later.   I realized the only way this would work would be if the “old flame” was a Dorlun who had admired Luffa from afar.    And that led me to Captain Mesas, the leader of the Dorlun militia.
Mesas originally served only one purpose, which was to be a sort of proxy who could represent the entire Dorlun colony that Luffa had been hired to defend.   I assigned her gender at random, I think.    I just know that I didn’t put a ton of thought into it, since I was planning to kill all of the Dorluns off later anyway.   Luffa would take this personally, because she came to appreciate these people without really admitting it, and this would be demonstrated by her respect for Mesas, who was their lead warrior, and thus the most Saiyan-like of the bunch.   Eventually, I renamed her Captain Zatte, because I had settled on naming all the Dorlun characters after anagrams of metric prefixes, i.e. “zetta”.
So I quickly came to the conclusion that the only way this “reunited with an old flame” idea would work would be if it was a Dorlun, and the only one that would make any sense would have to be Zatte, and the only way that could work would be if there was some sort of romantic tension between them.    They couldn’t be lovers in those early chapters because Luffa was married at the time, but later, there would need to be a moment where Zatte would confess her feelings and Luffa would have to feel the same way.
And this is how I ended up making Luffa bisexual.    I didn’t want Zatte to be a man, and I couldn’t make Luffa gay, because I needed her to start out in a marriage to a Saiyan man.   Too much of the plot depended upon that.   I struggled with this decision for a couple of reasons.
First, I wasn’t sure I could pull it off, and I didn’t know if I wanted this story to be my first try, because I was already trying to do a lot of other new tricks.   I didn’t want real-world wlw’s to see this story and be disappointed by my amateurish attempt to get it right.
Second, I felt disingenuous about making such a major change to the character for my own convenience.    I felt like I’d seen that a lot in comic books over the years, where writers would seemingly assign bisexuality to characters arbitrarily, or for “shock” value, or just to be salacious.  I didn’t want readers to think I was only doing this for shallow reasons, or to get my jollies writing two girls making out.
But at the same time, I really wanted to do it this way, and I finally decided to just go with it and see where it took me.   In hindsight, I realize that I was just being a fraidy cat about the whole thing.   Writing wlw romance isn’t so functionally different from mlw romance, and once I got used to the idea, I realized the only thing I needed to do was to treat it with the proper respect.    And really, this wasn’t so far off from the original premise.    I wanted to make the “Legendary Super Saiyan” a woman to defy convention and to piss off dudebros.    Making her queer just continues that same line of reasoning, right?   I used to see jackasses on the internet say that women couldn’t turn Super Saiyan because they couldn’t “get angry enough,” which is pretty similar to a lot of biphobic crap I’ve heard on the internet.    I mean, I used to listen to Loveline on the radio around 2001, and Dr. Drew was acting like bisexuality was some made-up thing.    Apparently Dr. Drew went nuts somewhere along the way, or maybe he always was, but he seemed pretty progressive in 2001, and he accepted gay and lesbian callers just fine, but he told bi callers to “figure out what they want”, and that never sat right with me.   People used to say there were no such things as black swans, too.    That’s Luffa all over.     You can deny her all you want, but she’ll still kick your ass.
I’m this close to going off on a rant about J.K. Rowling, so let me try to force myself to talk about Zatte here.    The problem I ran into almost immediately was that I wrote what I had originally planned for her, and I was very pleased with how it turned out.  And then I had to move on to the next arc, and yet, she was still there, and I knew I’d have to do something with her.    I feel like I’ve been winging it ever since, but my main priority was to set her apart from Keda, the other Dorlun character I kept around.  So I ran with the idea that Zatte is more “Saiyan-like” than the rest of her species, and maybe that makes her a little radical at times, maybe not in a way we humans might notice, but a way that other Dorluns would find unsettling.   Dorluns are survivalists, and for them “risk” is a four-letter word, but Zatte’s a thrillseeker at heart.   She wants to survive in spite of the dangers rather than back away from them.    Keda would find somewhere to hide for several months until it’s safe to come out, but Zatte would try to go all Die Hard on a situation.   Keda sticks close to Luffa because Luffa is the strongest person in the universe, so by Luffa’s side is arguably the safest place to be.    Zatte sticks close to Luffa because she’s a furry being by Luffa’s side is arguably the most dangerous place to be.    If she can survive there, she can survive anywhere.
There’s also the whole fanaticism angle.   At some point, I came up with the idea that Zatte sees Luffa’s Super Saiyan emergence as a watershed moment in history.     I sort of threw that together, mostly to make Luffa uncomfortable and to add some tension to their relationship, but it also distinguishes Zatte from characters like Chi-Chi or Bulma, who see Super Saiyan as a lot of flashy nonsense, signifying nothing.    “Punk rocker?   Don’t you understand?   Your son is a miracle!”
That angle is kind of hard for me to work with, because I also tried to make Zatte very grounded at the same time.    I guess it’s like if you had Jerusalem Syndrome but you were very self-aware the entire time.   You make a toga out of your hotel linens and just constantly saying “Man, I’m just being really nutty right now, but oh well.”
A lot of her tactics are sort of rooted in stuff I thought made sense with the weaker characters in Dragon Ball.   I don’t really know how strong Zatte would be.    I envisioned her as being like a “mere mortal”, like Lois Lane, but in Dragon World even guys like Mr. Satan are insanely tough.   I’m pretty sure Bulma could kick Brock Lesnar’s ass if she visited our own world.   He’d F5 her and she’d just get up and slap him in the face and he’d collapse.    I feel like if Zatte entered the 23rd Budokai, she could sweep the entire thing.   That’s not what I set out to do, and it sounds really arrogant because I’d be putting her over Goku and Piccolo, but come on, that’s low-tier by DBZ standards.   If she couldn’t dominate the 23rd Budokai, then definitely the 22nd, which also sounds unthinkable, but that’s how this crazy show works.   Yajirobe could have won the 22nd Budokai if he’d only thought to enter it.
My point is that “weaker” characters can do a lot from the sidelines if they know their limits and pick their spots, like Tien using the Kikoho on Cell and Super Buu, or Yajirobe cutting off Vegeta’s tail, and so forth.    Most of those guys hate resorting to that sort of thing, because they prefer to stand and fight in the open, but Zatte specializes in sneaky hit-and-run attacks.   She should be able to shoot ki blasts, but she sticks to firearms instead, because they’re more precise and ki senses can’t pick them up.  She likes being underestimated, to the point where her ideal battle is one where the enemy doesn’t even know she’s on the field.
I dunno, I’ve always wondered if I was getting her “right” all this time, but now that I summarize it all in one place, it doesn’t seem as disjointed as I feared.   I had all these different things I needed her to be and do, and most of them involved finding ways to justify her continued presence in the story, but maybe it’s all worked out after all.   Sometimes I feel like Zatte is the Yoko Ono of this fic, but the Beatles suck, so I shouldn’t indulge in their crude analogies.    I Zatted my way into this mess, and I’m happy to Zatte my way out.

Sara opens the boot, leaves her bag inside and closes the car door.

Grissom » It’s about my mother. Sara » …what happened? Grissom » She…passed away. Sara » Oh my God, Gil! What happened? Grissom » An accident. There was nothing to do. Sara » I’m really sorry, honestly. Grissom » I know. Sara » I’m sorry for my bad welcome, I…if I had known… Grissom » Don’t worry. I just thought that you would’ve preferred to know that by me, rather than… Sara » You were right, thank you. When will the funeral be held? Grissom » The day after tomorrow. Sara » I’ll be there. Grissom » You’re not forced to. I mean, if you don’t feel to come, I understand… Sara » I’ll be there. Grissom » I really appreciate that.
He greets her with a nod of his head, and move to leave.
Sara » Hey, listen…do you need anything? Can I be of some help? Grissom » No, thank you. I’m fine. Grissom leaves.

Nick » You won’t come? Sara » I will, but I have my times… Nick » How are you doing? Sara » I’m fine. Nick » Did you two had a contact since…? Sara » Today it was the first time I saw him or heard his voice in months. Nick » Are you sure you’re OK? Sara » Yeah. I just need to metabolize the thing.
