Tiny Marvel: Fly on Red Daylily

I’m not sure how I managed to even notice such a small fly perched on that flower. I think the iridescence of the wings and the shininess of the body might have been what caused me to see it.

The day was overcast, providing soft, even lighting with next to no shadows. Using an aperture of ƒ/4.5 gave me a beautifully blurred background. A shutter speed of 1/200s, combined with shake reduction, significantly reduced the risk of camera shake, even when shooting handheld at a 100mm focal length. With the camera set to Shutter & Aperture priority, the metering system calculated an ISO of 800 to balance the exposure and maintain the chosen aperture and shutter speed. This automatic adjustment ensured the image was properly exposed, even in the less-than-ideal lighting conditions.
