I really liked this piece. This was mostoly flats. I love the colors, the concept and the line art. I copied the pose from a comic book cover and decided to include the lettering as an homage.

This could thecnically count for day eight as a crossover.

Ends up doing a lot of research on children and how to take care of them

Not wanting to hurt a literal child, as he was literally designed for war and young humans are a lot more fragile than he and his brothers were at that age

Not the best with kids

Spends most of the time standing around awkwardly to watch you…

Only to step in and scoop you up when it looks like you’re about to fall/touch his machines or tech/bang your head against the table/etc

Is so relieved when you turn back into an adult/teenager

7 Day Camp Stay. Day: 4

Wooh! Day 4, for ya!

Honestly, it wasn't a bad day!

(Spoiler alert: My hip got better, so that means Donnie's would too!)

7 Day Camp Stay

Day: 4

Donnie woke up at 7:15. He threw his coat on and went over to Raphs room. Raph was still in bed, but he could wake up by now.

"Raph?"

Donnie looked at Raph, then shook him a bit.

"I'm up! I'm up!"

"I wanna go back to the camp now."

"You sure? Are you feeling up to it?"

"Yeah."

Raph then got out of bed and tossed on his coat as well. They got in the Taxi rocket and started on their way back to the campsite. Raph pulled into a small grocery store on the way.

"Mikey wanted me to get a few more ingredients for him."

Raph said as he unbuckled and opened the door. Donnie decided to follow him inside. Walking in, the bell rung. Donnie quickly put his hoodie over his head. There was an elderly woman sitting behind the cash register.

"Good morning!"

She said with a gruff, but kind voice.

"Morning!"

"Hello."

Raph and Donnie took a stroll through the store. Donnie wondered off to another part of the store, still slightly limping. Raph picked up the ingredients Mikey requested. Raph turned to find Donnie holding a box of crackers and some juice boxes.

"Could I..."

Donnie said sheepishly. Looking up at Raph. He didn't have his own money with him that time.

"Of course! Raph can get those for you if you want!"

Raph placed the juice and crackers in the basket and wondered over to the checkout counter. He placed the items down. Donnie doesn't remember what it cost but Raph was willing to buy almost anything for his brothers. They walked out of the store, hopped into the Taxi rocket and continued to the campsite.

Soon they arrived. Mikey had made the sandwiches for lunch.

"Hey! We're back!"

Raph said as he hopped out of the vehicle. Donnie opened the door and lifted himself up, looking over the top of the taxi at the campsite. Donnie slowly walked over to his tent and put the juice and crackers next to his bed. He came back out and had lunch with the rest.

Later, Leo wanted to go swimming in the lake nearby. Donnie declined on going, not sure if it was wise while his hip was still hurting with movement. Raph and Leo went, and Mikey stayed behind because he wanted to keep Donnie company. But Mikey would have to wait on bonding time cause Donnie left to take a shower.

After Donnie was done he crawled back into his tent and fiddled with his Atomic Las action figure. Mikey poked his head inside.

"Hi, dee!"

"Hello Micheal."

Mikey took that as a welcome. He crawled inside with his two favorite dolls, Jupiter Jim and Lu Jitsu. Together they made them go on a grand adventure, up Grey Mountain.

"Holy space nebula! You expect me to climb to the top of this mountain without anti-gravity boots?"

Jim said, waving his loose plastic arms in the air.

"Yes, and we must reach the top to find the ancient weapon known as The Sword Of Peace!"

Lu said with determination in his voice. Swiping his arm with real chopping action.

"We will get the sword, and we'll defeat our enemy once and for all!"

Atomic Thrilled. Raising her arm with a fist. They went up steap mountains and through dangerous caves. They fought off giant spiders and flying creatures, but at last they made it to the top. The sword was now in sight! It was finally in their grasp! Lu Jitsu walked up to the sword and grabbed it. Just then, their enemy appeared from the shadows. It was none other then, a giant raccoon! With it's fir all matted up from being tossed in the dryer one too many times.

"Oh no! It's Coony!"

The group of heros tried to attack, but none of their weapons had effect.

"Quick! Use the sword to defeat Coony!"

Atomic Las said in a panic. Lu Jitsu raised the sword towards Coony.

"I will not hurt you! Leave now and never come back!"

"It can't be that easy!"

Coony turned and hopped away.

"Okay, fine."

Just when Mikey and Donnie finished their little adventure, Raph and Leo came back. By that time it was Supper time again. Donnie watched as Mikey set up the sticks in the fire pit and put them into a tipi shape. He then carefully placed some fire started in the center and lit it with a match. Instantly it bursted into flames. The fire grew quickly. Mikey had prepared some zucchini boats with red sauce, mozzarella and pepperoni in them. He placed them on the grate and started cooking them.

It took a bit, but they were finally cooked through. Mikey served them out to his brothers. Donnie took a plate and sat down. Eating it made Donnie miss his pizza. The first thing he's gonna have when he gets home is pizza.

The meal was quickly finished, and Donnie headed off to the bathrooms to brush his teeth. His hip still hurt when he walked, but it was better than before. He looked up, and his jaw dropped. The stars were magnificent that night! Way better than yesterdays! Donnie stopped to admire them. Constellations glowing brightly. The milky way streaking across the sky. It was as clear as day! Donnie wished he could take a picture of it to gaze upon after it was gone, but his phone camera would not do it justice.

Donnie spent a good 10 minutes just staring at the sky, till a gust of wind chilled him to the bone. He made it to the restrooms, brushed his teeth, and got back to camp. There, he settled for the night in his sleeping bag. Camping has some good things that come with it. And its beauty is definitely one of them.

Rottmnt Brothers Sick Fics

This is the second part in the Rottmnt Sick Fic serise. Leo was done first, find it on my masterlist, enjoy.

Authors note: I understand that there's 7 stages of the flu in cannon rottmnt but for fic purposes that doesn't exist. This is slightly aged up so then it works out reader has their own apartment. Also this is for my boo boo bear hope you enjoy😚😚😚😚

When your boyfriend came over for your movie date you didn't think something would be wrong. But the second you opened the door and were meet with a sneezing and coughing terrapin you knew he wasn't ok. "Hey hun."

He greets you with a sweet voice that is groggy and slurred. "What's wrong babe?" Worry is evident in your voice while you help him into your apartment. "Oh nothing don't worry about it, Raph's fine."

He stumbles a bit going through the door and you just barely are able to hold him up. "Are you sick?" The question is slightly rhetorical since you already know the answer. Raph goes into a coughing fit, he nods his head while his face is in his elbow.

"Think I got it from pops." Your mind goes back to a few days ago when Splinter had gotten the flu. You knew how hard it had hit your boyfriends father-having first hand experience since you helped the brothers out- so you just hoped it was better for Raph.

"You didn't have to come today, you should be resting and taking medicine." Your worry is evident in every word. Raph just shakes his head, "Raph is fine, it's just a little flu nothing serious. Didn't want to miss our movie date."

You sigh, leading him towards your living room to lay him on the couch. "I would understand if we had to cancel." Your tone is soft as you lay him onto your couch that barley fits him. He sneezes into his elbow and sniffles.

"I dont like canceling plans plus I wanted to see you." He seems to be on the verge of sleep, just barely keeping himself from drifting now that he's laying down. You walk towards your kitchen that connects to the living room, "Do you want tea or anything to eat?"

He seems to think for a minute before shaking his head, "You don't have to take care of me, Raph's fine. Let's just pick a movie." He reaches for some napkins and loudly blows his nose while you go to your cupboard.

"I want to take care of you because you're sick. Now do you want tea? I also have a can or chicken noodle that you should have. It'll make you feel better." You start to grab the ingredients you need. Raphs coughs make you turn.

"Honey I swear I'm fine, can we please just start a movie?" Raphs actions defy his words. He slumps back into the couch and clears his scratchy throat.

"We can watch something when I get over there, after I make soup and tea." You cut him off before he can object. "And before you complain I'm hungry too so this isn't just for you."

Your voice is stern while you start the stove and find a pot and kettle. "Y/n?" Raphs voice is horse and quiet. "Yeah?" You don't turn to answer as you drop in two cans of chicken noodle soup.

"Thank you for helping me, Raph loves you." Your heart melts at the loving words. You can hear how exhausted he sounds, always having to take care of his brothers means always being tired. He never let himself be the one getting taken care of.

"I love you to." You hear him shuffle on the couch. After a few minutes of heating up the soup and tea water you prepare to give it to Raph. Two bowls get filled with steaming soup along with two mugs of tea.

It takes two trips to get everything to your coffee table. You notice how Raph seems to be sleeping peacefully on his side covered in a large blanket. After finding his favorite Jupiter Jim movie you decide to wake him up before his meal gets cold.

With a kiss on his forehead and a slight shake of his shoulders you wake up the large terrapin. He slowly pushes himself into a sitting position so he can eat easily.

You reach for the remote across the table and turn on the movie. As the opening credits role you say, "I'm guessing you haven't had any medicine."

You speak in-between bites of hot soup (pun intended). He shakes his head. "No, took some before coming over." He takes a sip of tea. "Didn't want to get you sick." He mumbles before shoving the spoon into his mouth.

You smile but don't say anything since the first scene of your movie starts to play. Half way through you finish your soup and rest your head onto Raphs large spiky shoulder.

You are careful not to hurt yourself on his sharp scales. You feel Raph flinch when he feels your head touch him, he slowly starts to relax. He has always been hesitant when it comes to physical touch. Always conscious of his larger size.

After a few minutes you start to fall asleep, once your breathing evens out Raph looks down towards you. He can feel himself slowly drifting so he carefully- very carefully- moves around the couch so you are laying ontop of him.

Soon you both are cuddling eachother to sleep, Raph can feel himself feeling better already. With one last look down towards you, Raph lulls into a deep slumber with you tightly in his arms.

After the Krang fight Leo had lots of time to catch up on comics etc. during his recovery.

But I can’t believe he would be at all ok after that experience. You can’t convince me that last scene in the movie wasn’t months later, there’s no way. Teenage war machine or not.

I love those big ugly yawns you do when no one ca see you. They feel great.

Baby blue ain’t sleepin’ and thank pizza there is Jupiter Jim to keep the darkness at bay.

Mikey is out with Draxum and Splinter and Raph are out having father-son bonding time and Donnie is in the kitchen getting more coffee which means the sneeze he just heard from the living room has to be Leo.

The initial sneeze is followed by another, then a third and a fourth and a fifth because even with sneezing Leo has to be dramatic.

Donnie stares at his coffee and tries to rationalize. Maybe Leo just breathed some dust - Pizza Supreme knows they haven’t dusted in at least six months. Or maybe he got a tickle from some of Dad’s fur. Or he stared too hard at a light bulb.

Leo coughs, deep and hacking from his chest, followed up with a sniffle, and Donnie sighs and fills his coffee mug.

“Noooo, you can’t be sick,” he says as he walks out. “I’m the only one here to take care of you.”

Leo is sprawled in Splinter’s chair, wearing the hoodie he only wears in the lair in the dead of winter (or when he’s sick) and the fuzzy socks reserved for very cold days (or when he’s sick). He looks Donnie right in the face and says, “Well lucky for you I’m not sick.”

Like a liar.

“Yes you are,” says Donnie, exasperated.

“Prove it.”

“You have a temp of 100.4,” he says, goggles down now.

“I always run hot.”

“No you always run cold, dum-dum.” Donnie flicks the goggles back up, debating getting a mask before he goes any closer. “At least tell me if what you have is contagious.”

Leo sulks down further into the chair, but at least he’s not denying it anymore. “I did a test. It’s just a sinus infection, so, you’re safe.”

Well that’s good for Donnie, but it does not change the fact that Leo is sick. And Donnie is the only one here.

“I’ll make you some tea,” he says, and turns to go back in the kitchen.

“You still don’t have to take care of me,” Leo calls after him, but Donnie ignores him. He’s already going over what he needs.

He sets the tea kettle going, then heads for the train car they’re using as a medbay. They don’t have any antibiotics, so he has his computer search up the ones they need and then hack an order to a local pharmacy, paid for by an insurance company his family definitely doesn’t use. Then he sends a text to Raph asking him to pick it up on the way home.

(Raph texts back a few minutes later asking if they need to come back early, to which Donnie responds with a negative.)

In the meantime he grabs a decongestant and and fever reducer. Then some cough drops, and a box of tissues, because if left to his own devices Leo will be disgusting.

Then he’s off to Leo’s room for his blanket and pillow. When Leo’s sick, he sleeps better in front of the TV.

Finally he goes to their film collection and grabs a few of Leo’s favorite JJs to queue up. Then it’s back to the kitchen for the tea.

When he returns, arms and battleshell appendages laden, Leo is just finishing another coughing fit. He looks up through watery eyes that go wide on seeing Donnie.

“Thought you said you were getting tea,” he says.

“And a few other things.” He hands over the tea and the medicine. “Here.”

Leo takes it without complaint, at least. Donnie hands off his pillow next, then starts up the first movie. The opening refrain of Jupiter Jim Last Trip to the Moon 7 fills the otherwise quiet room.

There is one more thing that makes Leo feel better when he’s sick. If Mikey or Raph were here, Donnie would pass the job off to them, but they aren’t, so it falls to Donnie.

“Scoot over,” he says, matter-of-fact.

Leo looks bemused. And sleepy. Mostly sleepy. “Huh?”

“Scoot. You’re hogging the chair.”

It takes Leo another second, but he catches on. A small smile growing on his face, he shifts over so Donnie can fit next to him, rearranging the pillow so it’s behind both of them and the blanket so it’s draped over all four legs.

Then he reclines the chair a bit and opens his arms without comment.

Immediately Leo has snuggled in against him, head buried under Donnie’s chin. He lets out a long, content (but still very congested) sigh, wiggling a bit to get comfy.

“As soon as my legs fall asleep you’re getting dumped in the floor,” Donnie tells him with no bite.

“Sure, D,” Leo answers, already sounding drowsy.

Donnie does not dump Leo in the floor. Not even when Raph gets home, grinning as he takes a picture.

He can get his revenge for that later.

Raph

Mikey sits cross legged in front of the screen, eyes wide as he listens to the speech Jupiter Jim is giving. He’s the only one left awake. Raph, Leo, and Donnie have already passed out on each other and Splinter was asleep a long time before that.

“If you always put yourself before others, one day you'll look behind and see that you're all alone."

He takes those words in and toys with them in his 7 year old brain. He looks back and stares at Raph, making his mind up before crawling over and laying across him to join in the pile. Raph curls around him more before Mikey falls asleep.

The next day, his brothers notice something.

Mikey refuses to let Raph walk in front of him.

No matter what they’re doing, Mikey rushes keep Raph behind him. As the self designated leader, Raph normally takes the front to make sure everything is okay before his brothers get into it. It causes a problem if Mikey is doing it. Raph needs to protect all his little brothers. Especially him.

So, he takes Mikey to the side one day while Leo and Donnie are busy playing a game about reading each other’s minds.

“Hey, Mikey….Raph has a question.” He starts.

Mikey smiles up at him.

“What question, Raphie?”

“Why do you keep walking in front of me?”

Mikey looks down, playing with his hands.

“Um…..Jupiter Jim said….if you put yourself in front of people…you’ll be alone.”

Raph blinks in confusion.

“You want to be alone?”

Mikey shakes his head no very quickly and looks back at him.

“You always go first! I don’t want you to be alone!”

Ohhhhhhh.

Raph can’t help but smiley widely, tail wagging. He hugs Mikey tight.

“Goofball, he didn’t mean it actually happening! It’s like uh….it means something else. Like when dad says we’re making him go gray when he’s already all gray.”

Mikey hugs tightly back.

“Oh! Good! Cause I wanna be able to go on your back for rides.”

Raph let’s go and turns around, bending his knees a bit.

Mikey happily hops on, giggling.

Raph puts his arms under Mikey’s legs and giggles too as he runs off with him.

Rise August Day 7: Disco

Donnie and Leo walked into Hueso’s, hotly debating the chronological order of the Jupiter Jim movies.  They didn’t even notice April sitting in a booth until she called out to them.

“Hey guys!” she waved.  “You eating here or to go?”

Donnie broke off his absolutely correct argument by shoving Leo face-first into the booth seat.  “Oh hey April!  What’s with all the paperwork?  Is it the systematic documentation of your descent into becoming a human drone?”

“Nah, I’m done with homework.  Hueso wanted me to brainstorm ideas for theme nights from the human world.”

Leo popped up from the seat.  “Ooooh, you’ve got an aquarium idea!  I’d love to see how that would work.  Fill the place with water?  It’s not like skeletons need to breathe, but I don’t know about some of the guests.”

All three of them looked around the room.  Most of the yokai present were obviously mammals, but a few were reptilian and one looked like an axolotl shaped out of bright green slime. 

Leo rubbed his chin.  “How mad do you think Hueso would be if I dumped water on the slime lizard?  In the interest of testing aquarium feasibility.”

“I am entirely in favor of scientific testing,” Donnie said thoughtfully.  “And also of becoming Hueso’s favorite in two seconds flat.”

“Aw…”

April rolled her eyes.  “Guys, he’d just bring in an aquarium and hire a few mermaids.  So far I’ve got ideas for Geocaching, Dungeons and Dungeons, Gothic Horror, Disco –”

Donnie gasped.  “<em>Disco Night?!</em>  April, this is by far the greatest presentation of sick beats I have ever laid eyes on outside of my own brain!  You <em>have</em> to pick this one!”

“It’s an automatic ‘no,’” said a voice from behind them.  Hueso had appeared with a pitcher of lemonade in his hands and a dour look on his face.  “I do not trust the judgement of someone who repeatedly encourages the idiota azul.”

“Hey!”

“I unintentionally deterred him less than five seconds ago!  Also!”  A few quick taps on his vambrace and a holographic slideshow appeared in the air.  “I already have a plethora of playlists and equipment that I’ve been saving since that time I used the mental intelligence reprogramulator!  I’ll design and install everything myself!  I’ll even have Mikey create a few disco-themed desserts.  I bet he could make cream puffs that look like disco balls!”

Hueso looked dubious.  “The last time I let two of you operate in my restaurant, it was half-devoured by unicorns.  Frankly, I’m only consulting with April because she’s the only human I know who hasn’t made a bone pun in my general direction.”

Leo whistled.  “Impressive, when there’s so much to work with.  206 things to work with, in fact.”

“This is why you are not my favorite.”

All three of them stared at Hueso.

“I don’t know what that look is for.  It is very clear he has <em>never</em> been my favorite.”

They continued to stare.  April raised an eyebrow. 

Hueso rolled his eyesockets.  “Your collective sense of humor continues to confound me.  Ms. O’Neil, let me know when you have picked the best two or three topics.  And keep in mind that their success will determine whether I use your ideas again.”  He turned on his heel and strode away.

April shook her head.  “Never seen denial so bad.  How much longer do you think he can fool himself?”

Leo shrugged.  “I mean, Hueso Jr. gave me a ‘Best Big Brother’ mug, so not much longer.”

Donnie grabbed them both by the shoulders, grinning maniacally.  “Enough with your emotional mockery!  This time next week, Run of the Mill will have transformed into an authentic discotheque!  WE MUST SUMMON OUR BROTHERS AT ONCE!”

April had to admit, the disco idea was fantastic. 

Donnie designed almost everything and spent the night beforehand doing minor renovations (minor, the way Splinter had a minor infomercial obsession).  The walls had been spraypainted hot pink and the ceiling purple with matching violet lights.  Three discoballs of varying sizes hung from the ceiling.  The tables had been pushed aside to make room for a custom-sized dance floor with checkerboard yellow and purple tiles that lit up when stepped on.  Donnie had a DJ setup in the corner. 

Per Donnie’s instructions, his brothers also had their assigned roles.  Mikey designed disco-themed desserts, including gingerbread men with bellbottom frosting and the disco cream puffs.  Leonardo and April went shopping in the Hidden City and thrift shopped items that guests could wear.  They stuck rhinestones onto tacky glasses and cut up fabric to make Velcro bellbottoms, crop tops, and adjustable metallic skirts, depending on the yokai’s anatomy.  Raph had done a lot of heavy lifting with the installation and was manning (or turtling) a small photobooth in the corner. 

April found Hueso about an hour into the event, taking a short break against one of the booths.  Correction: It was so packed that he couldn’t get back to the kitchen, and was waiting for a song break to make a dash for it.  April sidled up to him and grinned. 

“So, whadya think?  Human Theme nights a success?”

“Much moreso than I expected,” Hueso said.  It was hard to tell without facial muscles, but he looked stuck between excitement at the business and dread at who had brought it in.  “I had no idea the Hamatos could be so…industrious, given their usual destructive tendencies.”

There was a crash over the music.  Leonardo and Mikey had started dancing together, jumped onto a table, and overturned it. 

Hueso sighed.  “I brought it upon myself.  Although they are unusually tame tonight, all things considered.”

She shrugged.  “This meant a lot to Donnie.  And I told them they could take turns picking the next theme night if they were on their best behavior.  Mikey really wants an origami competition, and Raph is really into wrestling.  I think Leo’s caught between skateboarding and a comic book expo, but the others want him to go last since he’ll get two in a row.”

“He will get no such thing, as he is still not my favorite.”

April just laughed.  “Sure, Hueso.  Hey, you wanna try crowd surfing to the kitchen?  I don’t think Donnie’s going to let up the music anytime soon.”

Donnie shouted something over the crowd.  The music transitioned smoothly from ‘Le Freak’ to ‘Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now.’  Mikey threw a glowing chain over one of the ceiling beams and hoisted himself into the air.  Raph gave him a shove and he went soaring above the crowd, high-fiving every hand, flipper, and tentacle below. 

Hueso sighed.  “I’m glad we charged admission at the door, since only half the patrons have ordered anything.”

“Less clean up for your crew!”

Hueso grumbled something inaudible.  April just laughed again and jumped, reaching up with both hands.  Mikey caught her and they swung through the air together.  Finally, a party that went right – as long as there were no animatronics in site!
