Boredom is a silent killer.

A person could sit in a bed for hours doing nothing, withering away as the seconds go by, and nothing would be done about it. They would simply be left to their own devices, forgotten by the world while they disappeared.

“You’re being dramatic,” Kakashi commented, barely even looking up from the paperwork that Tsunade-sama had brought into the room to keep him busy while he was by Gai’s side. “It’s not that bad.”

“Easy for you to say,” Gai huffed. “You at least have something to do.”

“I could give you my paperwork.”

Gai regretted his words instantly. “No, I think I’m good,” Boredom was enough to do him in. He didn’t need to be killed faster by paperwork that wasn’t even his. “Why are you doing that anyways? Isn’t it supposed to be signed by the Hokage?”

“She is signing it,” Kakashi objected. “She just asked that I look through it and sort out what she should sign and what she should just put in the trash.”

“And you agreed to this because?”

“Because it was the only way I could convince her to let me take time off of missions so I could be here with you,” finally he dragged his eyes away from the report he was reading, an unimpressed expression on his face as he stared at Gai. “I could leave if you’d like.”

Gai wanted to jump up and stop Kakashi. To physically hold him in place so he wouldn’t move, but his chest ached at the mere thought of moving so he continued to sit there. Bored and buzzing with the energy he couldn’t burn.

“I could just do a few-”

“No.” Kakashi returned his focus to the report. 

“If I only do-”

“Zero,” his partner responded without looking up. “You will do zero.”

“But I’m bored!” He couldn’t even flop back against the bed dramatically since Shizune had lifted the bed in order for him to sit up. “I want to do something, Rival.”

“And your solution to that is to work out?” 

“Well, I do like working out…”

Sighing, Kakashi set the report back on top of the pile that Tsunade had placed beside him and turned towards Gai. “You just had top surgery,” he reminded him as if Gai could forget. As if he’d just miss placed that information when he’d been looking forward to this day for months.

No, years.

“I’m bored.”

“You’re recovering,” Kakashi placed a hand over Gai’s. A comforting gesture that did little to ease Gai’s anxieties. “What do you always tell me when I end up in the hospital because of Chakra exhaustion?”

“Rest is just as important as training,” he muttered his mantra under his breath, insulted that Kakashi would sit and throw it back at him. “But-”

A finger pressed against his lips, sealing in the words he was trying to say.

“No buts,” Kakashi whispered. “Shizune said you’ll be here for three to six days recovering. The more you overextend yourself, the longer your stay will be.”

Three to six days. If it were Kakashi in this bed the time would fly by. Gai would have an endless list of ideas for things they could do together that wouldn’t overextend his partner and earn him a longer stay.

When it was him stuck in bed, though, he couldn’t think of a single thing to do. 

Not one idea came to him no matter how hard he tried.

“How about a game?” Kakashi suggested suddenly, earning him a confused look from Gai. “I can go get a board game from your apartment. One of the ones we played last time I was stuck in here.”

A board game.

“How did I fail to think of that?” Gai scolded himself, immediately earning himself a flick to the forehead. “Ow! Kakashi!”

“You’re recovering,” He stated as if Gai had somehow magically forgotten that. “Give yourself a break Gai.”

“Sorry, I forgot that I was expecting to lose some of my ability to think when I got rid of my chest.”

“Well, you did always think with your dick and you still don’t have one of those yet.”

Kakashi’s response blindsided him. Never, in all the years he’d known the other man, had he thought he was capable of using such cutthroat words against him of all people. The elders, yes. Naruto, maybe. Iruka-Sensei, absolutely

But him?

Maito Gai?

That was taking things a step too far. Thankfully, Gai had the perfect comeback prepared within seconds. 

"Is this why you don't want bottom surgery?” He asked, a smirk tugging at the edge of his lips when Kakashi narrowed his eyes. “You have enough dick in your personality to make up for the lack of one down there?"

There was an honest effort made on Kakashi’s part to keep his cool. A deep breath, the scrunching of his eyes. All done in an attempt to keep his composure and not give in to the weight of Gai’s words.

It all failed, though.

Not even five seconds after Gai had uttered those words, Kakashi was curling into himself laughing. It wasn’t his usual chuckle either, but a full belly laugh that filled the entire room.

“Ok,” Kakashi wheezed. “For that one, I’ll pick up Dango on the way back.”

A board game with his best friend, his favourite treat, and a chance to hear more of that sweet laughter his rival kept so carefully hidden from the rest of the world. Recovery didn’t seem so bad when Gai had all of those things to look forward to.

Itachi's Age

Itachi's age in canon is quite a weird topic. Mostly because Kishimoto messed up the timeline completely with contradictory information scattered literally everywhere. And also because the anime changed him to resemble an adult. Depending on the source, Itachi could've been anywhere from 11 to 13 years old during the massacre. Now let's take a closer look.

The exact sources (as well as elaborations) are in the image descriptions. Pluses between panels mean that the panels do not belong next to each other. Slight edits here and there!

Follow-Up Post with a Timeline for Itachi's Life

Sasuke's age during the massacre

First of all, since many people seem to get this one wrong, Sasuke's age during the massacre is confirmed to be 7 years old. This is the only information we have for placing the night of the massacre on the timeline.

Databooks

The databooks will consistently put Sasuke and Itachi at a 5-year gap. Itachi is born on June 9th and Sasuke is born on July 23rd. Using this information, Itachi would have been 12-13 years old during the massacre.

Kakashi's Statement

Next up is Kakashi. He states that Itachi was 13 years old when he became a squad captain at ANBU. This information matches the one from the databooks and implies that Itachi got promoted in the short timespan of less than two months between his own birthday and the Uchiha massacre.

Sasuke's Memories

Now, looking at the manga, things are getting a little more tricky.

First of all, since this is very important for pinpointing the characters' ages, Japanese schools start the school year in April. The children who start school are aged 6. While this is not stated outright by the manga, it matches fairly well with later established information from the manga.

The Waves Arc takes place during Spring. So Genin must graduate/start in Spring as well (further elaboration in the image description).

And we know that Itachi began the Academy at age 6. So it is probably the starting age for all children in Konoha.

But now we run into our first issue just by puzzling together the timeline utilizing chapters 220-224. As explained in Sasuke's flashbacks, Itachi became Chunin at age 10. At some point, 6 months after that, he joins ANBU - which coincides with Sasuke's first day at the Academy which is most likely in April.

The problem here is the characters' birthdays.

6 months before April was October. Since Itachi's birthday is in June, he could not have turned 11 in that time frame. In other words, Itachi is still 10 years old when he joins ANBU. And since Sasuke is still 6 years old at that point in time, that puts Itachi and Sasuke at an age gap of 4 years as opposed to 5. Consequently, during the massacre (when Sasuke was 7) Itachi would have been 11-12 years old.

This would also be a much better match for Sasuke's depiction in chapter 402. Here, an Academy-aged Itachi (6-7 years old) is playing with his brother. Sasuke would be 2-3 years old rather than 1-2.

We now know that the databook information does not match Sasuke's flashbacks on multiple accounts and it's either because of their alleged ages, their birthdays, or both.

But Now Which One Is Correct?

The answer to that one is: We don't know. Kishimoto didn't pay a lot of attention to his timeline and Itachi is the biggest victim of that. But we can guess.

Right now, the databooks are contradicting the manga. One solution to this problem can be found in the novels. In "Itachi Shinden: Book of Dark Night" (chapter 6, part 2) in a conversation between Danzo and Hiruzen, we learn that Itachi was aged up on paper to lead an ANBU squad.

While the timelines are not a perfect match (for example, the novels state Itachi to be 11 years old during his promotion to ANBU), this is a plausible explanation for the discrepancy: The databooks might just reflect the information considered "official" or "known" in-universe.

The databooks would remain (mostly) accurate in this regard. It would explain the 4-year gap between Sasuke and Itachi from the manga. It would explain the memory from chapter 402. It would explain why Kakashi thinks that Itachi was 13 during his promotion. It would even explain height inconsistencies between manga Itachi and databook Itachi, knowing the data was messed with.

In conclusion: Itachi was likely 11-12 years old during the massacre. Furthermore, this means he was 16-17 during part 1 of Naruto and 20 at the time of his death.

I’ve always thought about this, in the manga, it says it’s been 11 years since Orochimaru left the Akastuki, because of the failed attempt to take Itachi, Itachi made Orochimaru leave. This was discussed when the Akastuki met up, Itachi was allegedly “21” at this time.

But Itachi said to have become the anbu captain at 13, it was mentioned by Kakashi im pretty sure when Itachi and Kisame came to capture Naruto.

Therefor Itachi was around late 13 or early 14 when the massacre was committed, he left Konoha after to join the Akastuki as a spy.

So 13/14 + the 11 years that was confirmed Itachi was in the organization for, that’s 24/25 years.

Is Itachi actually 24/25 years old and not 21 as “official sources” claim?

That would make him around 19/20 when he first came to “capture Naruto” and die around 24/25

I feel changing the “11 years” would be much more complicated than changing Itachis age, Sasuke was 6/7 around the time the clan died, so fast forward, he’s 17 when Itachi is “21”…how did Sasuke age around 11 years and Itachi only 7?

Glad you asked! Piecing timelines together is a thing I need for closure LOL so I already did it for the brothers!

I don't remember where, but it was said (not by an official source) that the "10 years since Orochimaru left Akatsuki" statement was a continuity error and should be disregarded. Because I could be wrong, but I vaguely remember that this statement was (also) made in the anime when Itachi was only 17/18 (after the chunin exams) and it would make absolutely 0 sense.

As for the massacre, the anime and manga make him 13 at the time. His official age of promotion was only mentioned that one time by Kakashi.

I don't know if you consider the Itachi Shinden novels canon, but personally I like to do so because they don't contradict any manga events, other than where Itachi's hands were when Shisui died... and add a lot of logical context. If we go by the novels, Kakashi only said Itachi was 13 because Hiruzen and Danzo aged him up on paper so as to not stir the pot too much by promoting someone at an age where others barely finish the academy. Itachi was actually 12 at the time of the massacre. It wouldn't be "wrong" for any character to say he was 13 as everyone was fed (and thoughtlessly believed??) the same lies about that poor kid. In his first detailed flashback in part 1 of the anime (on his way to the inn), Sasuke remembers how he was the same age Itachi was when he graduated, after auntie Uruchi (the chubby lady) said he was 7. That was the day of the massacre. It would also make the most sense. Canonically and in the anime, Itachi is 5 years older than Sasuke, and 7 + 5 = 12. In Itachi's first anime appearance, Sasuke just had his 13th birthday and Itachi should just have turned 18 the month before. This would make sense, too, as Sasuke is 16 when Itachi dies at 21 (Itachi's birthday is in June, Sasuke's in July).

Itachi's physical development isn't portrayed proportionately to his age or even true-to-data, which adds to the confusion. From the very beginning, Sasuke's flashbacks of 11-12-year-old Itachi show him much bigger than the Rookie 9. And he gets MUCH bigger within just 1 year. 11: 148 cm. 12 (officially 13 thanks to Danzo: 175 cm. LOL did Fugaku put something in his food to make him bigger faster because he also suddenly looks much more masculine??

But then, you put ANY adult in the room with him, and he suddenly shrinks. Danzo is officially shorter at 170 cm, but always shown taller, while Itachi wears thicker soles (Danzo wears slippers mostly).

Danzo has to bend to make eye contact with the squirt:

This is more than 6 cm difference! (175 & 181)

This was around the time of the massacre judging by Sasuke's size. Ummm... Wasn't Itachi officially as tall as Fugaku (175) here...

And this is just before the massacre, after Itachi got tired of trying:

He was supposed to be 6 cm taller than Kurenai (169 cm vs 175 cm), but he's drawn shorter than her!

And to make it all extra sad, I looked up what Itachi would look like in an accurate live action adaptation of the massacre, because Kishimoto draws him looking way older so the "groomed and exploited child soldier" part is more palatable:

For comparison, 12-year-old Itachi in the anime (average for Japanese boys that age is 153 cm, by the way, not 175 which is above average for ADULTS):

Naruto was said to be depicted as smol and scrawny on purpose, but while anime styles usually make a character look younger than their real life counterpart, Naruto was probably closest to that?

Chapter Six: Living In Hope.

Hinata Hyuuga was getting a strange feeling. It had started when Kurenai Yuhi had asked her to help her pick out a birthday present for Asuma Sarutobi the other day, shortly after she'd heard from Kakashi Hatake that Neji's squad had found the most recent victim of the rogue Shinobi group just known as Kitsúne. Hinata thought it odd that anyone name themselves after a fox but whatever.

The strange feeling made her think of Naruto Uzumaki, her long time crush. She'd been thinking about him a lot lately, wishing he was still in the village. The anniversary of Kakashi's squad going rogue was coming up and as usual, Hinata found herself more depressed every time it did. Kurenai was one of the few who knew she'd always liked Naruto, so attempted to draw her mind away from her reminiscing by spending the day shopping. She used Asuma's birthday as an excuse, but both women knew what she was really up to.

But for now, Hinata was fighting the strange feeling twisting her stomach while sparring with her Sensei.

On the sidelines, Kiba Inuzuka grinned at Hinata, his eyes raking over her body as she moved into the stance for her jyuuken strike. He'd heard her father talking about arranging an engagement for her within the next six months. He hadn't decided on a husband and was hesitating for reasons he couldn't explain to himself.

Kiba had had a crush on Hinata since their academy days, and wasn't shy about it, but hadn't exactly been declaring it either. He knew how the clans worked, being a part of one himself, so held no fairytale notions. Still, if it was at all possible…

"Come on Hinata," Kurenai teased. "You've gotta come at me faster than that!"

Kiba chuckled as the Hyuuga screwed up her face in renewed determination and activated her Byakugan again. She was really set on beating her Sensei, although she wasn't at her level. Hinata had been this way for six years, not that the Inuzuka had a single clue as to what had caused the sudden shift in her demeanour. She was fighting for more than recognition these days, a hint of regret and fierceness driving her.

Hinata was trying to be as strong as she could so that one day (hopefully), if she ever ran into Naruto Uzumaki again, she could bring him home. She had thought of little else since he'd left.

It was almost twenty minutes later when the two women finally took a break, choosing the moment once they had another visitor.

"Kakashi," Kurenai said, towelling her face.

It had been awhile since a mere training session had been this tough for her, no matter her sparring partner, but she had only recently lost her pregnancy fat and had been frustrated for so long, not being able to train. Her husband was looking after their daughter while she got in some much needed exercise, and Hinata had volunteered to help her.

Kakashi Hatake nodded to her, and then turned his head to look at the sheepish Hyuuga. "Your father is looking for you."

Hinata nodded, bowed, thanked him, and then left quickly. After a moment, Kiba too removed himself from the training area. Kakashi had just finished talking with the head of the Hyuuga clan, concerning Hiashi's worries over another matter and the man had asked the copy ninja to fetch his daughter for him. Kakashi could only guess as to the man's motivation: he did not often summon Hinata in the middle of the day. Rumour had it he was finally sorting through the paperwork on the marriage proposals made to him for both of his daughters, as well as Neji.

Well, Kakashi had heard it from Kō, who was the only Hyuuga who ever told him anything. Kō wasn't the most tactful person he knew, but was one of those who thought high enough of Kakashi that he let him in on some things. Of course, being a clan member, there was always a line the man never crossed. Every clan was secretive of course, with varying degrees of censorship.

"You seem unusually sombre today," Kurenai said, breaking Kakashi's train of thought.

They both knew why though; the same reason Hinata had been down lately.

"Have you considered going back to Anbu?" She asked, silently thinking that Kakashi needed to stop waiting for a miracle.

He shrugged. "It does seem a popular suggestion as of late."

"It's better than just hanging around, lifelessly waiting for something that isn't going to happen."

She realised she might sound a little callous, but Kakashi wasn't offended.

"I'm not sure I'm ready," he said evenly.

This depressed version of him was depressing, to say the least. He wasn't holed up or sulking though, just not caring about anything but missions anymore. After all, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and Naruto Uzumaki weren't the only team members he hadn't saved. They may not have died, like his original team, but it was near enough.

"You're living in hope they'll come back Kakashi?" Kurenai asked, teasing the copy ninja gently.

He smiled slightly. "Better that then throwing in the towel."

The leader of the squad from Kumogakure was called Himunari Akatachi. He was an old acquaintance of Hiashi Hyuuga's and recognised Neji immediately. He didn't know what to think of the Hyuuga's Sensei, or that strange miniature version of him, but the only girl in Neji's squad seemed nice enough. Neji bowed respectfully, remembering Himunari from several diplomatic dinners in the Hyuuga complex, growing up.

The strangely dressed ginger haired Jounin wasn't the most jolly or expressive person (which was why he got along with Hiashi so well), but to the outside observer, he looked like just another Gai Maito. It was his personality that was a little more reserved. He introduced the three Chunin in his squad after Guy made introductions.

"Kurami, Shibo, and Kusane," Himunari said, indicating to his team in turn.

As it turned out, both teams were here looking for the assassin with ninja abilities who was going around and picking off teams that carried the insignia of either Konoha or Kumo. So in the interest of inter-village relations, the Kumo Jounin suggested the two teams cooperate on this little venture. They would not do well to go their separate ways and race each other to the prize, although he could tell this idea would go over well with Guy and his "mini-me" called… Lee, he believed.

"Well, this will work out well," Himunari said, agreeing with Guy.

Both teams had decided to use themselves as bait for this assassin, and together, they weren't sure if they doubled their chances of attracting the guy's attention or scaring him off. The last group attacked was a squad of four, before that, a joining of several. Whoever this assassin was, he clearly planned out his attacks meticulously before striking. They had a better chance of overpowering him with more numbers, but it was quality over quantity after all.

Enthusiastic as ever, Guy and Lee proclaimed that the power of youth would see them victorious. Uncertain, Neji was surprised when Tenten grabbed his arm and have him a half hearted hug.

"Lighten up," she said, giggling softly. "After all, we have the power of youth on our side."

Neji just rolled his eyes at her.

Meanwhile, Kitsúne followed the teams at a safe distance as they left Kurakuta Town. Sasuke Uchiha was grateful that Neji hadn't activated his Byakugan yet, believing he was only able to keep them in his sights because of his Sharingan. There was no need to alert the Hyuuga to their presence. Silently, Sasuke promised himself to put keeping off Neji's radar ahead of succeeding in procuring this bounty. There would be other rewards with less problems.

At that thought, he wondered if maybe they should just let this one go.

But noting the eager Naruto Uzumaki and recently persuaded Sakura Haruno (though considerably less eager) he knew it would be an argument that would only take time and effort he didn't want to waste. Besides, it wasn't like they were heading into this blindfolded.

"Looks like we got lucky," Naruto said softly, his eyes narrowed as he stared in the direction he knew the two teams to be.

Sasuke was the only one who could see them, and was leading the way.

"They're both here for the same reason," he told the stupid blonde. "Don't be so naïve."

"We aren't going to wait until the assassin has killed the squads before moving in, are we?" Sakura asked, not wanting to be responsible for the death on Konoha ninja, no matter who they were.

"What makes you think one lone assassin could take on bushier brow Sensei's squad and live?" Naruto asked.

The pinkette ignored his tone, an indication to how nervous she was, despite her agreement to go ahead with it. They had a plan and it sounded solid, but she worried nonetheless. Yes, the idea of being caught or seen was terrifying, but the imminent chaos and potential fatalities concerned her even more. She didn't want to watch any of them die just so they could get the bounty.

She did realise she was being overly dramatic, but they'd never been this close to leaf ninja before, on purpose that was.

Sasuke, glancing at Sakura in his peripherals, decided to allay her concerns. But as he move to assure her that there was no way Team Guy was going to die at the hands of some lone assassin, no matter how good that assassin was, he stopped himself.

There was a singular, powerful chakra signature nearby, heading toward the two teams. Sasuke noticed him first, then Neji. It was show time.

Naruto Post Blank Period and Boruto Timeline

I am creating this timeline because I am someone who likes to torture myself and I want to explore the dynamics of the Uzumaki family with Kawaki. However, before I delve into those dynamics, I need a clear timeline first. I will try to mix all the available information into one clear, logical, and comfortable timeline for my fanfictions, so there may be some information that I have changed.

This timeline is a continuation of this timeline, so I suggest reading it first to avoid confusion.

POST BLANK PERIOD & BORUTO PART I TIMELINE

Around early March 093 - Sasuke discovers the remains of White Zetsu and wants to investigate Kaguya. The Gokage Summit is held again since the Gokage Summit about the moon crashing into the earth about 10 years ago (Naruto the Last happened in late December 083/early January 094).

The order of the Kage present from Hokage, Kazekage, Mizukage, Tsuchikage, and Raikage is: Kakashi, Gaara, Chojuro, Kurotsuchi, and Darui. I know in Naruto Gaiden, Naruto is already Hokage at this point, but for convenience, I did not make him Hokage yet. Moreover, on the day of Naruto's inauguration as Hokage, we know two things, 1) Himawari can already walk smoothly, 2) Even she can perform Jyuuken very well to disable an adult man, which means she has received certain training. Both of these, of course, are impossible for a one-year-old child to do. I think Naruto is present at the Gokage Summit because he has started the transition from field missions to his "apprenticeship" as Hokage. Furthermore, considering Himawari's young age, this is another reason why Sasuke refused Naruto to accompany him in the investigation for years.

During these 10 years, the Mizukage, Raikage, and Tsuchikage changed. I like to think that the order of the change is Tsuchikage first, considering Onoi was already very old. Kurotsuchi became Tsuchikage at the age of 25 in late autumn 088. In the wiki, it is listed that Kurotsuchi was born on September 6 and was 18 years old when the Fourth Shinobi World War began. I assume she was born on September 6, 063. I will place Chojuro as Mizukage in the same year, because in Year 100, 18-year-old Hoshigaki Shizuma had some personal grudge against Chojuro regarding his clan's bloody history. In the Fourth Shinobi World War, Chojuro was 19 years old and had his birthday on November 1. This means that he was actually almost 20 years old at that time, which places his birth date on November 1, 061. If Chojuro replaced Mei at the end of 088 at the age of 27, then Shizuma would be 6 years old, the age of entering the Academy and realizing how different the world is outside of his clan. I think Darui became Raikage shortly after that. He was 26 years old in the Fourth Shinobi World War and was born on January 6, so my assumption is that he was born on January 6, 055.

May 093 - Sasuke departs to investigate Kaguya. There is no reason why I chose May, except that I wanted Sasuke to at least attend Sarada's fourth birthday before leaving. According to Google search results, a 4-year-old child already starts to have long-term memory, but Sarada is really just a little over 4 years old, so I made it as a reason why her memory of Sasuke is so vague (in the ending of the arc, we can see Sarada remembers hugging someone and remembers her parents holding her hand when she was young).

December 094 - Epilogue of Naruto: The Last, which shows young Boruto and Himawari playing in the snow with only six Hokage faces carved. Hinata already has short hair. I like to think they just moved into that house at the time.

Early 095 - Sarada is sick and asks about Sasuke. Sasuke has been gone for almost two years now and has not had direct contact with his daughter. I think it's understandable that Sarada is starting to forget him.

April 1, 095 - Next Generation children enter the Academy. I can't believe the ambiguity of age and appearance in the Boruto anime. If we go by the original timeline where Hinata gave birth to Boruto at age 20, 3 years after the war, that means Boruto would be 7 years old when he enters the Academy, with Naruto apparently having been Hokage for several years (because Boruto causes trouble by crashing the train, clearly to make his father angry), as Iwabe says they fought 10 years ago. But, Boruto looks older than his appearance in chapter 700, where he might be around 8 or 9 years old. However, considering this is very difficult for my brain to make sense of, I have Boruto and his friends enter the Academy at the normal age of 6 like elementary school children. Clearly, the events of Boruto Episode 1 do not happen yet here.

June 03, 096 - Naruto becomes Hokage, replacing Kakashi, but Himawari knocks him out with Jyuuken so Konohamaru has to take over in the ceremonial event. 

Ages: Naruto, Hinata, Sakura, Sasuke (30), Kakashi (44), Boruto, Sarada, Shikadai, Inojin, Chocho (7; 2nd grade in Academy), Konohamaru (26), Himawari (4, turning 5 the next day)

Considering that Hinata and Neji began training at the age of 4, honestly, I think even in a peaceful world, it's not impossible for Boruto and Himawari to start Jyuuken training at the same age because of Hiashi's wish, although Hinata and Naruto would clearly keep the training from being too intense.

November 097 - Chapter 700, Konoha Shinden, First Gokage Summit not in Iron Country. I know Konoha Shinden was supposed to start with chapter 700 during the preparation of the Gokage Summit in Konoha and ended at the same time with Naruto Gaiden. However, the timing of its ending is what makes me think it doesn't make sense. Sarada is 11 years old in Naruto Gaiden and about 8-9 years old in chapter 700. It makes more sense to follow the earlier age in chapter 700. Currently, it has been almost one and a half years since Naruto became Hokage and Boruto's resentment has already started to form. This is a sufficient amount of time to build Boruto's dislike towards his father's new responsibilities, but still close enough for Kakashi to not want to take a vacation because he believes he needs to be there to advise Naruto.

I believe Boruto vandalizing the Hokage statue in chapter 700 is the first time he does it. Of course, there is a time hole where Hinata suddenly has long hair again. If Boruto is almost 9 years old, then Himawari should be 6 years old, but she has her 6th birthday after April 1 of that year, which means she will enter the academy in the following school year (three grades lower than Boruto).

December 097 - Himawari (already 6) participates in a ninja trial session or Boruto Episode 154. I believe Himawari is only two years younger than Boruto, not five as commonly thought. While it may not be entirely unreasonable for Hinata and Naruto to allow their child to pursue a non-ninja career, it does not mean they fully support it, considering they belong to a generation that considers ninja as the only respectable career option. I don't think Hinata would train her children in Jyuuken if she didn't want them to become ninja. Despite her appreciation for peace and modernization, her upbringing would not allow her to completely give up the ninja path for her children. Also, I don't believe Hiashi is portrayed as a very soft and indulgent grandfather and father; he may spoil Boruto and Himawari, but he still has some tough sides that won't disappear for his family. Furthermore, the First and Second Shinobi World Wars were separated by twenty years. December 096 is about fifteen years after the Fourth Shinobi World War, and I'm not sure if the shinobi have completely let their guard down. They should know the importance of history and the vulnerability of peace.

It also doesn't make sense that in the original timeline, the children in Himawari's trial class only find out she is the Hokage's daughter while Naruto has been Hokage for about five years or more. I'm pretty sure the Hokage is equivalent to a president, and I don't believe there is no news about who Naruto's wife and children are. However, Boruto is famous as the Hokage's son, although this may be because of his mischief. I think Boruto's mischief is hot gossip material in Konoha's magazines at the time.

April 1, 098 - Himawari (6, almost 7) enters the Academy in 1st grade. Boruto and co. are currently 9 years old and in 4th grade. Although Boruto and Himawari only apart for 2 years and 2 months, they are 3 grades apart in Academy.

April 1, 099 - Boruto Episode 1. Boruto meets and befriends Denki, causing significant damage by crashing a train. He receives two weeks of detention.

Age: Boruto, Sarada, Inojin, Shikadai, Chocho, Metal, Sumire, Wasabi, Namida, etc. (10; 5th grade)

April 15, 099 - Boruto Episode 2. Boruto meets Iwabee and fights him. Given that this is the fourth year of the children's time in the Academy, I think it's time for them to become "more serious" in terms of physical and mental abilities, explaining why Iwabee needed repeat a grade twice.

Age: Boruto, Sarada, Inojin, Shikadai, Chocho, Metal, Sumire, Wasabi, Namida, etc. (10), Iwabee (12)

Early April 0100 - Mitsuki's transfer and Naruto Gaiden. Sarada meets Sasuke again after many years and manages to activate her Sharingan. Sasuke comes home briefly before continuing his journey.

I know this should have taken place a week before the graduation exam and should have happened in late March 101 (where Sarada is almost 12 years old), but I want to place it in the previous year so that the Nue incident and School Trip can be in the next academic year. Additionally, I want to give Sarada and Sasuke some time to bond while he's still around. Therefore, the exam referred to here is a kind of qualification exam for the final level held at the beginning of the new academic year.

I know Mitsuki's transfer was supposed to coincide with the Nue incident because Shino threw a welcome party for him, but I just want Mitsuki to learn to make friends with other children before jumping into action. He is “born” at 25 July 88, the oldest in the Next Generation group after Iwabee, who is technically their senior.

I know this event should have been placed right after Episode 2, but I prefer to have the 11-year-old kids who are already at the end of the Academy face danger. Sumire was almost expelled from the Academy. Boruto thought he activated the Byakugan, but he didn't.

July 100 - School Trip Arc. Shizuma and his friends almost carried out a coup.

Ages: Boruto and co. (11, except Mitsuki; 6th grade), Himawari (9; 3rd grade), Kagura (14), Chojuro (38), Shizuma (18)

March 28, 101 – In Boruto Episode 50, Naruto couldn't come to Boruto's birthday party attended by Mitsuki, Sakura, and Sarada. Boruto asked Naruto not to miss Himawari's birthday.

Actually, it doesn't make sense in terms of the timeline because this should have been Boruto's birthday when he became a genin, but he became a genin at the age of 12. So this should refer to his 13th birthday, but that would make him 13 during the chuunin exam, which contradicts what was revealed in Boruto the Movie.

Late March 101 –  the Graduation Exams Arc and Naruto Shinden (novel). I like to think that Sasuke, feeling guilty, purposely returned briefly for Sarada's graduation. Since this happens before the chuunin exam and Naruto, in general, is still a terrible father and husband, this explains why Hanabi asked Hinata to come back to the Hyuuga Compound and said Naruto broke their marriage vows  due to neglect. I'm not Japanese, but I live in Southeast Asia, and if your sibling asks you and your kids to come back to your parents' house because of your spouse, it's clearly a red danger flag for your marriage.

April 1, 101 – the genin teams were formed. Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki became Team 7 after some disagrements and objections.

April-May 101 - Genin Mission Arc and Byakuga Gang Arc.

Age: Team 7 (12 years old)

June 03, 101 - Boruto Episode 52, Himawari's 10th birthday (she is in 4th grade). Boruto is angry with Naruto for sending a Kagebunshin to Himawari's birthday and meets Sasuke for the first time (since he was a toddler). Boruto begs Konohamaru to teach him how to make a Rasengan.

June 101 - Versus Momoshiki Arc, Boruto chapter 2 to 10, and Boruto The Movie. Boruto gets Karma and accidentally becomes Momoshiki's vessel.

July 101 - The Chouchou Arc and Sasuke Shinden: Teacher and Star Pupil happen during this break.

August 101 - Mitsuki’s Disappearance Arc and Jugo Arc. Honestly, there is no reason to place both arcs in August other than I think it fits the timeline. After these two events, Sumire decides to become a member of the Scientific Ninja Weapons Team and is replaced by Tsubaki Kurogane.

Late August 101 - Boruto Episode 104, 105, 112, and 113. Mitsuki finds Mikazuki and keeps him as his cat, then visits Otogakure. Shikamaru urges Naruto to choose who is worthy to become a Chunin from the Genin in the exam that was disrupted by the Otsutsuki attack. Finally, Shikadai (12) is promoted.

I combined these events because they are counted as filler, but they are quite relevant. Boruto Episode 106-111 is the Steam Ninja Scrolls Arc, which is an adaptation of Konoha Shinden and in this timeline, has already happened.

Second week of September 101 - One Tail Escort Arc and Time Slip Arc. I put it in the second week so the children can rest from their bombastic missions. I consider Konohamaru's Love Story to be an unimportant arc, so I didn't include it in the timeline.

Ages: Team 7 and InoShikaCho New Generation are all 12 years old, except Mitsuki and Chouchou. Shinki and his team will also be around 12 and 13 years old, depending on when they were born.

Mid-October 101 - Mujina Bandits Arc and Shikamaru Shinden. Another Gokage Summit happens in Konoha. There is also a Daimyo Summit. Shikamaru and Temari's (fourteenth) wedding anniversary occurs just before this, which is in line with the Blank Period timeline that I have created.

Age: Shikamaru, Naruto (36), Temari (39), Gaara (35), Inojin, Boruto, Sarada (12), Shikadai, Mitsuki, Chouchou (13)

Mid-January 102 - First half of the Kara Actuation Arc. Boruto and Sarada have to be hospitalized due to severe injuries fighting Deepa, and Mitsuki receives treatment in Otogakure. There is no reason why I placed a gap, only for the convenience of the timeline and character development.

Age: Boruto, Sarada (12), Mitsuki (13), Konohamaru (32), Naruto (36)

Early February 102 - Second half of the Kara Actuation Arc. Team 7 successfully defeats Deepa and Sarada awakens her second Sharingan tomoe.

April 102 - Naruto Retsuden, Sasuke Retsuden, and Kakashi Retsuden were released. Placing the Retsuden series in April means that the "strange" illness of Naruto took place since July, after the chuunin exam was finished. It makes sense, I think.

Age: Sasuke, Sakura, Naruto (36), Boruto, Sarada (13), Kakashi (50), Iruka (46)

Mid-May 102 - Ao Arc. Ao sacrificed himself to save Boruto from Kashin Koji and Mugino, Konohamaru's friend who was with Team 7 in the Mujina Bandits Arc, died, so that the others could escape. Boruto continued to take care of Mugino's turtle in order to keep his promise. At the end of the arc, Team 7 found Kawaki.

I'm actually not sure how old Kawaki is because his age or birthdate is not mentioned in the Naruto wiki (which is more comprehensive than the Boruto wiki), only his height. But from other sources, we know that Kawaki is 14 years old and was born on September 29. This puts him born in the year 87, so when he was found, he was 14.5 years old.

May 15, 102 - Kawaki Arc begins. Kawaki is taken to a facility owned by Katasuke, Sumire's boss, in Ryutan, on the outskirts of Konoha. He tries to escape and fights Sumire and Nue. After struggling to escape, Kawaki is taken to the hospital and Naruto personally assures him that he is safe. Shikamaru wants to detain Kawaki, but Naruto refuses, saying that he would have been imprisoned too as a jinchuriki if it weren't for Sandaime. A week later, on May 22, the Gokage Summit is held to discuss Kawaki and Naruto brings Kawaki to live with him at his home.

I randomly chose May 15th and the one-week gap. One thing I know is that the Gokage Summit certainly requires preparation, not just a spontaneous event. That's why there's a gap.

Age: Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki, Sumire (13), Kawaki (14), Naruto (36)

Why is Sumire already 13 years old even though we don't know when she was born? This is because I think that to enter a certain academy year, students must be 6 years old before the new academic year starts on April 1st. So, for normal students in Boruto and Sarada's year (entering on April 1st, 095 - graduating on March 31st, 101), they must be born between April 2nd, 088 and March 31st, 089. Sarada is the youngest in her year. The oldest of them is Iwabee, who is actually two years older than all of them; born between April 2nd, 086 and March 31st, 087.

May 28, 102 - Naruto shows Kawaki around the village and fights Delta. A few days later, Naruto trains Kawaki in ninjutsu and is constantly reminded by Boruto and Mitsuki not to use his Kama. Sasuke prepares Sarada for Chidori. Kurama "greets" Kawaki.

Age: Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki, Sumire (13), Kawaki (14), Naruto (36)

May 29, 102 – Kawaki practiced climbing trees with chakra with Naruto. Sarada expressed her past envy to Boruto because having Naruto as a father. Kawaki revealed that Jigen gave him his Kama, just as Momoshiki did for Boruto. Shikamaru and Sai discussed whether Kawaki could be trusted. Sasuke arrived at a coordinate that could only be reached with space-time ninjutsu after being sent to investigate previously, finding evidence that Kaguya Ootsutsuki had come with a companion centuries ago and discovered the Tenth-Tailed Beastsbeing held captive.

Possibly the next day or a few days later – Boruto Episode 204. Kawaki searched for the vase fragment he had broken earlier. Jigen ambushed Naruto's home, taking Naruto to another dimension with him. Sasuke followed them. As they both fought Jigen, they became increasingly cornered. Naruto created a kagebunshin and told Sasuke to escape. With his Rinnegan, Sasuke escaped and was found fatally wounded by Sakura. Kawaki and Boruto opened a portal to where Naruto was and went with Mitsuki and Sarada. The four of them fought Boro and Sarada successfully performed Chidori for the first time, destroying Boro's regeneration tool. As the four of them planned to return, Boro went berserk and paralyzed Kawaki and Sarada. Boruto entered the "manifestation" phase, where a horn grew on the side of his head and Momoshiki spoke from his mouth, then killed Boro with Rasengan.

A few days later – Kawaki had a nightmare and accompanied Himawari to bury Jaggy, a wolf she had been visiting frequently in the past week.

The second or third week of June 102 – Boruto Episode 211-220. Kashin Koji infiltrated Konoha. Amado came to Konoha and put a bomb collar on Shikadai's neck so Naruto would listen to him. Isshiki attacked Konoha and Konoha prepared for evacuation. Sarada had not yet recovered from the last fight, so she couldn't help. Boruto used his Kama to take him, Isshiki, Naruto, and Sasuke to another dimension so they could fight without endangering the village.

Naruto and Sasuke struggled to fight Isshiki and were trapped. Boruto tried to help, but his wrist was stepped on by Isshiki. Naruto activated the Baryon Mode. Isshiki realized that Kawaki and Naruto shared chakra through Kawaki's prosthetic hand and "pulled" Kawaki into that dimension through a rift. When Boruto passed out and Sasuke and Naruto were trapped, Kawaki managed to defeat Isshiki. Momoshiki returned and manifested, stabbing Sasuke's Rinnegan, but Boruto awakened himself by breaking his horn. Naruto passed out and bid farewell to Kurama, where Kurama "died" as a sacrifice for activating Baryon Mode. When Naruto woke up, Boruto was almost crying and holding his hand because he thought he had died.

Boruto failed to create a rift to return to Konoha and Sasuke was unable to transport them due to losing his Rinnegan. After Kawaki convinced Boruto he would help him get rid of his Kama, Boruto managed to bring them home right above the Hokage building's rooftop. Sarada didn't blame Boruto upon learning he was the reason Sasuke's eye was blind. Naruto and Sasuke were examined, then Sakura and Katasuke discussed what losing Kurama and Rinnegan meant for both of them. Boruto and Kawaki received confirmation that 80% of themselves is Otsutsuki, which is why the members of Kara pursued them; to be sacrificed to revive the Divine Tree. Amado told Shikamaru and Sai about the only remaining Inner of Kara, Code.

Several days later - Boruto was interviewed on TV and considered a hero of the village. Mitsuki told Sarada, who was already out of hospital, about Boruto's condition and informed her that because of it, their team couldn't participate in missions. The next day, Boruto remembered when his consciousness was taken over by Momoshiki and Naruto held a teleconference with the Five Kage, where they agreed to find Code. The other Kage doubted Amado's information, but Naruto said they had no other choice. The Kage also asked what Naruto would do if his own son became a threat to Konoha because of his Kama. Gaara emphasized Naruto's condition as no longer a jinchuriki and said quick action should be taken before Momoshiki strikes again.

Several days later - Katasuke told Naruto about Boruto's Kama, which continued to grow. Sarada told Mitsuki that Boruto couldn't sleep because he was afraid Momoshiki would take over his consciousness while sleeping. Sasuke promised Naruto he would take action if Boruto became a threat and he would handle it. Naruto was honest with Boruto about his Kama's condition and comforted him until Boruto fell asleep. Amado offered Naruto a drug that would inhibit Boruto's Kama's growth, claiming Kawaki had received a miniscule dose during his time in Kara, so his Kama's growth wasn't as fast as Boruto's. Naruto accepted it after Amado said he had lost his daughter twelve years ago.

Boruto took the medicine given by Amado. Mitsuki and Sarada wondered when they could take missions again. Amado was accepted into the Scientific Ninja Weapons Team and worked with Sumire.

I consider this to happen about two weeks after the fight with Boro because Sarada was still in the hospital, so the time gap shouldn't be too long. Honestly, it's a busy time for Konoha. A busy day.

Age: Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki (13), Kawaki (14), Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, Hinata (36), Himawari (10; 5th grade)

End of July 102 – Chunin Reexamination Arc. The internal chuunin exam was limited to Konoha genin. Five pairs entered the final. Inojin-Hoki, Wasabi-Iwabee, Chocho-Sarada, Tsubaki-Denki, and Boruto-Mitsuki. Boruto and Mitsuki did not attend the final because they helped Himawari and her friends investigate Amado, who met suspicious men on a train. The four promoted to chunin were Hoki, Wasabi, Sarada, and Denki. Boruto and Mitsuki fought at night to replace the failed final they didn't get to do.

A few days later, Sarada received her chuunin flak jacket. Sasuke comforted her when she was sad about Konohamaru no longer being their captain. The final mission of Team 7 was to rescue Konohamaru and his escorts from Hyogo the Hundred-Faced.

Mid-August 102 - The Great Sea Battle of Kirigakure Arc.

Age: Boruto, Sarada, Metal, Denki (13), Kawaki, Mitsuki (14), Shizuma (20/21)

Late September 102 - Kawaki & Himawari Academy Arc. Himawari is in her fifth year of the Academy.

Age: Kawaki (14/15, depending on the start date of the arc), Himawari (10).

First weekend of October 102 - Labyrinth Game Arc.

Third week of October 102 - Code's Assault Arc begins.

October 31, 102 - Boruto Episode 290-293. Because Momoshiki took over Boruto's consciousness and started attacking Naruto, Kawaki, obsessed with protecting Naruto and determined to remove Kama from Boruto by any means necessary, killed Boruto. Boruto was revived by Momoshiki and had a new scar on his chest.
