Valyrian Alphas and Omegas are rare, a class where the old Valyrians would (with magic at the time) change their sexes accordingly to match the ideal parts of their presentation (Alphas with cocks, Omegas with cunts). The change is most painful for a male Valyrian Omega, as it often involves castration and months-long process of the body developing a womb and vaginal productive system. The change often made it easier for male omegas to handle birthing, and for female alphas to bond with and mate male omegas.

Jacaerys is a Valyrian Omega. He spent nearly half a year a-bed during his presentation.

Baela is a Valyrian Alpha, Daemon’s particular pride and joy.

Alpha-Omega relationships are most ideal, as well as Alpha-Alpha. Omega-Omega is not common. The only pairing that is subject to criticism and often humiliation is Beta-Omega.

True or Fated bond mates exist, but are rarely encountered (among high-folk mostly because arranged marriages and such). Characterized by an irresistible draw to each other, and the inability to mate with any other if they’ve met their fated mate. Any pre-existing bonds are often rejected and dissolved (by magic ABO happenings). Cregan and Jacaerys are one such pair, of course.

Side note: I cannot believe that while looking up when all the characters were born, that Arra Norrey was apparently born sometime before 116 AC. Jacaerys was born late 114 AC, so if we go by that reference of age, Arra may have been a child bride. Then again, she was said to be Cregan’s childhood best friend, and Cregan is about 6 years older than Jace.

Also, these ages are so screwed, it’s a whole mental map trying to set everything so they don’t conflict with times and each other ages. :P Also show timeline does not match book timeline, so that adds another hiccup. At this point, I’m basically mix-and-matching.

Basic Plot Points:

What if Rhaenyra did worry about what her first pregnancy with Harwin’s child that resulted in Jace, about his looks? And she grew so worried and disappointed when he did inherit Harwin’s colorings that she gave him away out of desperation.

A few days after Jacaerys’ birth, when rumors grew of Rhaenyra’s infidelity to Laenor, Rhaenyra arranged to have Jacaerys “kidnapped” or “killed” and one of her ladies-in-waiting took the babe away from the Keep and gave him to a random woman on the street, who turned out to be one of the whores of the Street of Silk. Could be Mysaria. Vermax had hatched and bonded with Jace, so Mysaria is stuck with a baby and his dragon.

Despite her disapproval of Rhaenyra’s affair with Harwin Strong resulting in a child, Alicent found it more insulting and repulsive that Rhaenyra obviously arranged the disappearance of her first-born. It grew more bothersome when Rhaenyra continued the affair and produced Lucerys and Joffrey, and kept them to avoid anymore suspicion that she was getting rid of her bastards. Rhaenyra was also weighed with the guilt of giving away her first baby boy, and heavily regretted it after experiencing the joys of motherhood with Lucerys.

Time skips galore to Laena’s death and funeral, where Aemond bonds with Vhagar. On the joy ride that is his first flight, he encounters Jace riding Vermax, but he doesn’t get to speak with him. He doesn’t mention the encounter to anyone, especially after Lucerys, Baela, and Rhaena confronted him about Vhagar and he loses his eye. When he’s better, he investigates Jace and Vermax, and they become close friends over a few weeks. Aemond is the one to teach Jacaerys High Valyrian, starting with basic dragon commands.

Alicent eventually finds out about Jacaerys and his parentage, she and Otto resolve to foster him in the Keep, to one day use to their advantage. They manage to manipulate a sickly Viserys into legitimizing Jacaerys as a Targaryen and Lord Strong of Harrenhal, all while keeping the news from reaching Rhaenyra on Dragonstone. This is around 126 AC.

According to the timeline I set, it should be about 128 AC when Jacaerys presents as an omega while he is living at and helping restore Harrenhal. Upon receiving a raven about his falling ill while presenting and 3 months passing since Jacaerys last was conscious, Aemond took residence at Harrenhal and vigilantly protected him. This is also the year that Arra Norrey canonically dies while giving birth to Rickon Stark.

Baela and Rhaena present in 128 AC as well.

Around 129-130 AC, Lucerys Velaryon presents as an omega, and Joffrey as an alpha. Viserys hosts a tourney in their honor, celebrating the presentation of his favored grandchildren (miffing Alicent as there was no such celebration held for her own children). Rhaenyra and Daemon convince Viserys to invite among the lords, Cregan Stark, after learning of his recent widowing in the hopes that they can secure an alliance with the North by betrothing Lucerys to Cregan.

The hosts traveling from the North are welcomed midway at a near-completely renovated Harrenhal by Jacaerys and Aemond. They spend a day resting, and those who do not wish to rest are invited to join a small hunting party with Jacaerys leading. Vermax is about as big as Syrax, having grown more free-range at Harrenhal than most dragons. Jacaerys bonds with many of the knights and lords in the hunting party, but gets along the most with Cregan.

Upon arriving at King’s Landing, the host of Harrenhal, including Aemond and Jacaerys, accompany that of the houses of the North. Jacaerys and Aemond are the last announced after Cregan Stark, having landed Vhagar and Vermax together on the beach, and this is the first time Rhaenyra hears of Jacaerys.

Jacaerys knows that Rhaenyra is his mother, and he holds resentment towards her. At some point during the festivities, he publicly or privately confronts Rhaenyra with the show!canon monologue:

“Did you think I would have dark hair? When you took Harwin Strong into your bed, did you think I might favor him, or did it not cross your mind?”

Rhaenyra attempts to calm him and show that she regrets her past decision heavily, but Jacaerys cannot forgive her for the years of anguish he went through without his true mother. Much of his resentment lies in that after abandoning him, she went on to have two more children just like him.

Meanwhile, Lucerys attempts to bond with Cregan, driven by Daemon and Rhaenyra’s suggestion for him to consider the Lord of Winterfell as a possible mate. He is constantly in the company of Baela, Rhaena, and Joffrey as they observe all the knights and lords. Daeron Targaryen is also present, and he is Lucerys’ rival for Cregan Stark’s attentions.

The relationship between Jacaerys and Lucerys is bitter. Lucerys sees Jacaerys as a threat to him in every facet of his life, and he cannot believe that Jacaerys may be his older brother who his mother abandoned. Jace being legitimized as the son of Rhaenyra and Harwin poses a threat to Lucerys and Joffrey, as it casts a heavier shadow onto the boys. And Rhaenyra refuses to publicly acknowledge Jacaerys as her own at the expense of Lucerys and Joffrey. As a result, he is antagonistic towards Jace, and his closest friends Baela, Rhaena, and Joffrey support him. He is also slightly scared of Jace because wherever he is, Aemond is sure to be close by.

Daeron and Jacaerys aren’t necessarily friends as Jace is with the rest of Daeron’s siblings, but they aren’t “enemies” like Luke and Jace. He manages to spy upon Cregan and Jace, and realizes that he and Lucerys have no chance at Cregan, so he backs off seriously considering him as a mate. He does continue to rile Lucerys up with taunts, because he finds it funny and cute, in an odd way.

The highlight of the tourney is the crowning of the Queen of Love and Beauty, which is an honor for the tourney champion to bestow to a lady or omega of their choosing. Despite being a lord, Cregan is known as one of the best swordsman of Westeros, therefore his participation is expected. It becomes rumored to all attending that either Prince Lucerys Velaryon or Prince Daeron Targaryen are expectant to be crowned by the lord, and their respective mothers Rhaenyra and Alicent may betroth their omega son to the lord as a result. It comes as a surprise to most of the royal family when Cregan crowns Prince Jacaerys instead (except for Aemond and Helaena because they are his closest friends, and Helaena could sort of tell with her dream-seer powers; Aegon bluntly states that it was obvious to anyone not lovesick for Stark).

Cregan officially courts Jacaerys, and they decide to marry/mate any or all of three ways: by the Old Gods, respecting Cregan’s heritage; the Faith of the Seven, respecting Jacaerys’ beliefs; and the Old Valyrian tradition, respecting Jacaerys’ heritage as a Targaryen.

Side note: An alternative and more dramatic take to this is Daemon and Rhaenyra successfully arranging with Viserys for Cregan to mate with Lucerys after the tourney, but frustrated and driven to his wits end, Cregan mates Jacaerys under the Weirwood tree the night before the last day of the tourney, during a feast/dance. Rhaenyra tries to resolve this by proposing Cregan follow Aegon I’s example and mate Lucerys for duty while keeping Jacaerys for love. The issue is that once an alpha takes his true omega, attempting to claim another tends to get rather bloody. Historically, most alphas or omegas tend to be torn apart by both the alpha and their true mate if they try. And also, Cregan did not want to have two or more mates. As he tells Rhaenyra “You would submit your son to an empty life. I would never love him as I love my Prince Jacaerys. I would never bed him, not even for duty. He would waste away in the cold of the North, constantly longing for a better life til his dying day.”

A couple of tiny and side moments:

Jacaerys and Mysaria being mother and son, because she raised him for a bit before he was discovered by Alicent.

Jacaerys wears some extravagant and more…revealing outfits than in the show. May be influenced by being raised in a brothel house…also he is an omega so they do have a bit more freedom in dressing pretty. Jacaerys is a very beautiful omega, basically.

Cregan and Jace have some training battles, because Jace is also a fighter and a Lord, so he must know how to fight. Cregan appreciates that Jacaerys is not a dainty and demure omega; he proves to have a raging fire that can conquer the coldest of winters in the North.

Jace and Daemon do not like each other. Daemon despises Jace’s very existence because his position threatens Rhaenyra’s claim as well as their little peace. And he gets in the way of everything. And the Strong host just loves messing with Daemon and humbling, as is show canon. Simon Strong is definitely with Jacaerys the entire time of the tourney.

Jace and Baela would’ve definitely been betrothed were they not sort of enemies on circumstance. However, my stance on incest is that I don’t support it, not even slightly. So I don’t see any potential for a threesome between Jace, Baela, and Cregan.

Sara Snow may be a part of Cregan’s party in tourney, if she’s not taking care of Rickon in the North. And if she is, Cregan asked her to craft the crown of flowers that he gives to Jace. It’s this crown of flowers that has all the omegas and ladies attending the tourney bumbling with excitement that they might be on the receiving end of it.

Corlys and Rhaenys become more upset at the evidence that Jacaerys, and by extension Lucerys and Joffrey, are not true Velaryons. Rhaenys always firmly believed Rhaenyra got rid of Jacaerys because he was not Laenor’s, so when it was officially announced, she was done. The only saving grace is that Baela and Rhaena are definitely Laena’s, and they may or may not be betrothed to Lucerys and Joffrey respectively…

Lucerys eventually accepts that his mother screwed them all over and sowed the seeds they reap. Moreover, he reconciles with Jacaerys and learns how to be a younger brother. Aemond still creeps him out by lurking in the shadows.

I am not TG, and I do cast a dark light on Rhaenyra and Lucerys especially with this narrative, but I needed some drama with it. Anyways, I’m glad I could blurb this out to stop thinking about it so much. Sorry I won’t be writing a full fic to anyone who would be interested in reading it.

so I just binged MHA episode 114-127

*spoilers obvi*

*inhale* HOLY FUCK WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!??? HOW DID EVERYTHING GO TO SHIT IN THIRTEEN GODDAMNED EPISODES 😭

LIKE I KNEW IT WOULD BE BAD ITS CALLED THE ‘WAR ARC’ FOR A REASON BUT DUDE!

Holy fuck I feel so bad for everyone, but I felt especially bad for Mic, Aizawa, Hawks, Dabi, and the rest of the Todorokis. because goddamn!

Hawks, A: gets his wings set on fucking fire B: finds out his biggest hero failed so spectacularly he created the 2nd most wanted villain in Japan C: has his real name revealed D: did I mention that his wings were set on fire E: will have to deal with the press on top of this!

And I mean I the span of what, 3 days? Mic and Aizawa find out that A: their best friend’s corpse was stolen, mutilated, and used to create a monster. B: fight a losing battle knowing that literal children are acting as soldiers and they can’t do anything about it C: Hizashi learned that the LOV didn’t even want oboro they were after Shouta and took the next best thing when they failed to capture him, AND now he has to decide if he should tell his best friend who already blamed himself that the league wanted him instead!? D: Shouta cut. off. his. goddamned. leg. E: midnight fucking died F: a bunch of their students got hurt and they won’t even be recognized for their bravery.

thinking about that talk with @murmel-malt about how george's ages for these kids in F&B is just... a mess. Like we know George keeps his characters young (Look at... 90% of the cast of ASOIAF being like, 20 and under or what have you) and now I'm on a distraction rabbit hole of how do differently?

Which basically boils down to extending Viserys' reign, and then putting larger age gaps between Rhaenyra's children specifically.

But I thought: Okay, let's break this down side by side for everyone else who is staring at these ages in show vs book canon and trying to make sense of it. I want you to know that you're not alone in this, and I hope this could be a helpful resource for making your own narrative decisions.

TL;DR - the show time jumps do not track and make no sense and has weirdly aged people down and also up and so you make your own decisions. I've put my age recommendations at the bottom of the post.

We know Vizzy doesn't care about the health of his wife, since good lord we know what happened to Aemma and the text specifically states it was not only how young she was when she first started getting pregnant, but also the frequency she was getting pregnant/stillbirths. Like that took a toll. Luckily for Book!Alicent, she was 19/20 when she started having children, and could handle that better

We have two years between Aegon and Helaena, and then 1-2 years between Helaena and Aemond depending on when Aemond was born, and then four years between Aemond and Daeron

With Rhaenyra, we have:

Jace was born at the end of 114 (Rhaenyra is 17, and Jace is the same age as Daeron), Luke is specified as late 115, which... doesn't make sense? Like TECHNICALLY, you could get pregnant as early as three weeks after giving birth (I googled a... lot for this) but like really?

(ETA: I'm not saying this doesn't happen, we have it seeming to happen with Aemond and Helaena, it's the same with Bran and Arya, but as I address below, It doesn't seem to fit with Rhaenyra's character)

Westeros has a 12 month calendar. Jace is a december Baby, which means late 115 means... Oct/Nov/December, which means Rhaenyra was pregnant by February with her second kid.

then Joffrey is born in 117, however it doesn't specify what time of year. We just know that when Aemond loses his eye, Joffrey is 3.

Aegon III is born towards the end of 120 (again, Oct/Nov/Dec). We know that Daemon and Rhaenyra married in 120, not even six months after the death of Laena and Laenor, who died early 120 and Laenor not long after. so with this, like, is Aegon a wedding night baby? Had Daemon and Rhaenyra started boning before they married? (I mean, likely). Then Viserys II is born in 122, then we have a seven year gap before Rhaenyra's birth of Visenya.

Like, I'm sorry, but you want me to believe that Rhaenyra Targaryen who watched her mother have miscarriage after stillbirth for the first 10 years of her life wasn't gonna be more careful about this? Like George, just because we didn't have condoms and birth control pills doesn't mean that there wasn't some kind of bc was used (and there's evidence of that in our real world).

(and like I was saying to Mo: I mean at the end of the day, these ages don't matter, since 78% of these kids died and yes I calculated that percentage, and he wasn't thinking about people digging into the age things because at the end of the day, that doesn't matter for the story he's telling)

Which then brings us to the fuzzy show logic:

The Time Jumps As Follows:

Episodes 1-2: over the course of 6 months.

Episode 3: Two Year Time Jump from previous

Episode 4: No time jump specified but Alicent's given birth. Did Rhaenyra only go to Storm's End? In the book she traveled all the way to Casterly Rock.

No time jump is specified from what I could find for Rhaenyra's wedding but to get everyone there for Rhaenyra's wedding, to put together a royal wedding, you need 6 months at least. Given how big baby!Helaena is, we're looking at a 6-10 month time jump. And I'm sorry but by ship, it's taking like, two-three days to sail from KL to Driftmark, and then you have negotiations that last more than a single conversation. So I feel safe in assuming the 6-10 month time jump between Rhaenyra's return/daemon thing to the wedding. (HOWEVER, everything I found claims there's no time jump, but that's literally impossible because people need time to travel to King's Landing as it takes at least two months from Casterly Rock/Oldtown to get to KL)

Aegon is the child we have confirmation for on his age. He is 3 years old when Rhaenyra is married. We know that Helaena, on the show, is exactly two years younger since Alicent is clearly popping any day on Aegon's 2nd birthday.

The Ten Year Time Jump

Aegon - 13

Helaena - 11

Aemond - 10

Jace - ??? Book canon states he's 4 years younger than Aemond, but there's no way Jace is 6 years old.

Luke - 4 years old. AGAIN, there's no way. I cannot confirm an age for the actor (who did a fantastic job) but he's definitely closer to 5 or 6.

Joffrey - NEWBORN vs being 3 years old at the time.

The Six Year Time Jump

Aegon - 19

Helaena - 17

Aemond - 16?????

Jace - ?????

Luke - 14 years old which makes him 8 years old during Driftmark (Luke's age was confirmed as 14 at the end, he was 13 in the book)

Joffrey - 6 years old

In the book: Aemond is 19 years old when Viserys dies, which should make him 19 years old for the final time jump. But instead Aegon is 19/20 years old.

SO HERE IS MY ADJUSTED SUGGESTION

It's just my suggestion, just my opinion, because again, none of this makes sense.

THIRTEEN YEAR TIME JUMP FOR DRIFTMARK

Helaena - 14

Aemond - 13

Jace - 10

Luke - 6

Joffrey - I mean you can keep him as a newborn to track but I don't think there's anything wrong with making him 3-4 years old IMO

ETA: adding in, Rhaenyra and Laenor talk about them trying to have a child, which means this actually builds in time for Laenor and Rhaenyra to try make their arrangement work instead of Rhaenyra just fucking off and hooking up with Harwin immediately.

ETA: I FORGOT THE DRAGON TWINS but I suggest Baela and Rhaena to be the same age as Jace or Luke. Book!Canon, the dragon twins are the same age as Luke. Take that how you will.

its been months and im still obsessed with this show. and since some people haven't read or didn't even know there was a novel - I thought I would summarise what wasn't in the show.

In case you didn't know the novel and the show are very similar from chapters 1-80 (Until the break up) then it skips to chapter 114-118 (When Myungha disappears and returns)

so what happens between these chapters?

chapters 81-113 are basically just sweet moments between Yeowoon and Myungha - where Myungha is worried but its also a wholesome back and forth.

he is then invisible to everyone and runs out the house in the rain wearing the shoes Yeowoon gave him. One of the shoes get's destroyed when Myungha falls (the shoe gets run over by a car)

Yeowoon is the only one who can see him and he covers him with an umbrella - the rain clears and everyone can see Myungha again. they both go back to Yeowoon's house.

Myungha cries in front of Yeowoon - and Myungha says he loves him.

Yeowoon thinks its a dream.

they kiss and get back together, not waiting till Yeowoon's b-day.

…My blood type is AB, my specialty is knowing the latest gossip, five years ago I used to just be an idol, but I decided to become a reporter. One of my hobbies is riding around on my space bike. Wondering if that’s all I have to say? I’m all done talking about myself, so I guess I’ll go home now. (A minute later)… Fine, fine, since you’re fussing so much, I’ll stay in the interview room. It’s like I’m a prisoner here. Huh? You want me to talk about Ulala and Jaguar? Tch, so that’s what you want to know. You should’ve said that from the start so I wouldn’t have rushed to give my profile information. That’s way more interesting. Now I’m upset. (The hosts bring in one of her favorite foods, kuzumochi) Oh, well now, that’s smart of you. Fine, I guess I’ll tell you about them. Alright, this gives you 20 minutes, after that, I’m leaving.

About Ulala A while back, then…Ulala was…Ah, just the other day I was tricked into advertising for Channel 5, but I didn’t know it was for them at the time… Even though it was for our own publicity too, I can’t believe we were promoting our rival station of all things…That has to be one of the biggest regret I’ve ever had in my entire life… Pretty shocking, huh? Not only that, but I even lost the guitar duel, I was sure I was gonna win that. Double the shock there. If this keeps on happening, I’m going to have to do everything in my power to get Ulala to lose ratings for Channel 5!

Well, I know all of Ulala’s weakness, so if I need to fight her, I’ll be prepared~. What, you wanna know them, too? Hmm, Ulala’s weaknesses. She’s afraid of deafening silence. I guess drifting all alone in a spaceship accident was very traumatic for her since she was so little. But this weakness could be fading; the scars on people’s hearts can heal. Anyway, I know a way more direct weakness! Spicy things. Things like space wasabi, space mustard, and spices, she can’t handle any of those. Teeheehee. I wonder, what kind of trick should I pull to get her to eat something with space wasabi?

And then there’s Jaguar, I’d call that a weakness, too… heh (couldn’t stop laughing for 1 minute and 9 seconds). Jaguar is a person Ulala admires (old news). Well, Ulala throws a tantrum like a little kid if I even sneer at her, I could lure her out with just Jaguar’s name, then prank her or whatever, but I’m not gonna do that. I’m not that mean!!

About Jaguar Well, speaking of Jaguar, he’s honestly really cool. Especially since he’s the leader of the Space Pirate Broadcasting Station (a group that goes around in the Space Pirate ship, Bad Tuning, and broadcasts all over the galaxy. Naturally, they’re all space pirates). He’s a man, who no matter what happens, always seeks the truth. I guess you can call him irresistible, right! Hehe. Oh, also, don’t mention that I drooled earlier… If you do my reputation will be ruined! By the way, apparently he looks like the person who saved Ulala, when she was all alone during that one accident. He’s the dashing type of guy that’s always coming and going like the wind, and always comes to help even if you don’t ask for it.

There’s a lot of rumors going around about his past too, like that he went into hiding ‘cause someone wanted the those connected to reporting that accident out of the picture, some say he used to be a reporter for Channel 5, but others say he wasn’t. Or that he was just a random man that happened to be there during the time of the incident. With Channel 5 under new management now, there’s even newer rumors about him springing up. Like that the Space Pirate Broadcasting Station was really made to get revenge against Channel 5. It must be kinda nice to have that kind of popularity, it’s like Ulala and Jaguar are the stars of a Space Romance. Ah, anyway, was there anything else I needed to talk about…?

Jacegan??? Jace and Cregan…Brotherhood!

I love Jacegan but what about a more brotherly-Jacegan bond fic? Meaning no “incest”; even between sworn brothers. Maybe shouldn’t use the ship name for that…

Premise:

Set during the night Aemond claims Vhagar and loses his eye (year 120 AC). Alicent doesn’t attack Rhaenyra and Viserys is a bit more neutral in regard to his children. Alicent gets the idea to send Lucerys up North to Winterfell (or rather the Wall as a harsher punishment), far away from Aemond as possible, and Viserys believes it would be a good chance for Lucerys to learn as he will be Lord of Driftmark one day (yeah, right). Jacaerys pleads to be sent instead as it was his dagger that was used to injure Aemond and he drew the blade, to which Alicent accepts. Viserys also sees it fitting since Jacaerys is Rhaenyra’s heir, and it would strengthen the bond between House Stark and House Targaryen if Jacaerys bonded with Lord Rickon Stark’s son and heir, Cregan.

The one condition is that Jacaerys will reside in the North until Lucerys comes of age (16).

Note: I know Jacaerys is like super young, being around 6/7, and Aemond was 10 (according to the book timeline) when he lost his eye. I tend to rely on book ages but not book-accurate plot…woops.

Cregan is 12 at this time. And Arra may be 4 or older…but since they say Arra was his childhood best friend, I’d say she should be at least 8 or older…

Another note, according to Cregan Stark’s asoiaf wiki page, his younger brother died in 119 AC.

Cregan took an instant liking to Jacaerys when the kid arrived in Winterfell. Having recently lost his younger brother in the last year, he saw this new kid (who happened to be a prince but Cregan doesn’t care) as a blessing from the Old Gods. More importantly, it became a common sight around Winterfell to see Cregan and Jacaerys together, practically attached at the hip. (Cregan may or may not tell Jace about blood oaths, and they swear the infamous “oath of brotherhood, sealed in blood”.)

Arra Norrey became Jace’s sworn older sister and she loves occasionally stealing him away from Cregan when she visits to enjoy the “softer” things of Winterfell, such as the Glass Gardens, while Cregan is busy training, in the company of his other friends such as the young Lord Cerwyn, or learning how to be the next Warden of the North.

Jacaerys may have other friends with other people in the North; the one thing everybody knows is that nobody gets away with bullying him, and it’s not because he’s a prince.

A southern maester lives in Winterfell, specifically employed to teach Jacaerys High Valyrian, as well as all other lessons that a Prince and future King must have. Jacaerys writes to Rhaenyra in High Valyrian, and she will write back the same, though sometimes she will include corrections to her son’s incorrect grammar or use of words in common tongue. Lucerys often writes to Jacaerys and sends tiny trinkets and shells, which Jace shares with Arra and Cregan.

Vermax resides on Dragonstone, and his bond with Jacaerys is strained but not broken. He eventually travels to Winterfell himself when he senses Jacaerys in great distress (Arra’s death and his mourning being the cause).

(124 AC): Cregan comes of age (16), but Bennard Stark maintains his regency of Winterfell and limits Cregan’s involvement in heading the house. One of Bennard’s plans to keep Cregan in check involves Jacaerys due to their brotherly bond.

(126 AC): Cregan (18) has Arra (14) take Jace (12) away to temporarily foster with House Norrey while he prepares to overthrow his uncle Bennard and his three sons. Bennard tries to goad Cregan into kin-slaying by swearing to end Jacaerys’ life if/when he gets free, but Cregan only hits him on the head and declares he would never let anyone harm his little brother.

“I will tear that boy apart. And when I’m finished with him, I shall leave him for the savages to enjoy a taste of royalty.”

Cregan then marries Arra, much to the delight of the North. Jace spends the night writing his family on Dragonstone about the wedding celebrations, and how curious Northern weddings are.

According to ASOIAF timeline, this is the year Vaemond Velaryon was executed by Daemon (although it is apparently 132 AC in HoTD). Whatever… The only thing that would happen would be Lucerys or Rhaenyra informing Jacaerys that Vaemond challenged Lucerys for the throne of Driftmark, and was killed for insulting Rhaenyra and their lineage (calling them bastards). Jacaerys is upset on Lucerys and his mother’s behalfs for suffering the insults but doesn’t give it much thought since he wasn’t close to Vaemond.

(128 AC): Arra is pregnant with Rickon, and when she’s not with Cregan, she’s accompanied by Jace. Some find it inappropriate with how close Jace is with Cregan and Arra, especially Arra as the Lady of Winterfell. There is a slight rumor that Prince Jacaerys and Lady Arra are having an affair, and her child may be a bastard. This causes Jacaerys to distance himself from Arra to avoid damaging her honor, like his mother’s was. Arra becomes upset by the development and she can’t seem to convince Jace to stop avoiding her, so Cregan has to pose an intervention.

Arra goes into labor while talking with Jace, and he rushes to inform Cregan after getting her to the maesters. He stays outside of the labor room with Cregan, although Cregan goes inside after hearing a particularly concerning noise from Arra in the chamber. When Rickon is delivered, Arra begs Cregan to let Jace in. Whilst Cregan is watching the maesters handle Rickon, Arra—sensing she is dying—tells Jace to make sure he and Cregan take care of each other, as well as Rickon. Jace doesn’t understand why she’s says this until her breath stops and her hand holding his loosens in pressure. His cries are what attracts Cregan’s attention as well as the maesters’, and Cregan realizes Arra has passed.

“Swear to me that you will take care of them, and that he will take care of you. Jacaerys…

Avy jorrāelan, valonqar.”

(I love you, little brother). Jacaerys taught Arra some High Valyrian throughout the years… Their favorite pastime was speaking to each other with certain practiced phrases when in company with Cregan to annoy him.

Arra is buried in the crypts. The day of her funeral, Jacaerys remains in front of her burial place the entire night, drowning in his grief. Arra was Cregan’s wife and soul, but she was Jacaerys’ sister and light. Cregan must attend to his duties as the Lord of Winterfell, as well as his newfound fatherly duty, despite his own grief.

Vermax senses Jace’s deep grief through their strained bond and leaves Dragonstone, surprising Daemon who was singing to Caraxes.

It takes about three to five (business) days…or a week for Vermax to fly to the North, with a couple pit stops for food and water, because he is a dragon who needs nutrients on a long journey. His arrival causes a stir in the gloomy aura of Winterfell, as they are still mourning their passing of their lady and Jacaerys is recovering after having fallen ill from spending too much time in the crypts without eating or drinking. Cregan found him on the third day since Arra’s funeral and berated him rather aggressively for nearly killing himself after he woke up.

“You cannot leave me. I beg of you, my brother, my blood…do not leave me too.”

Jacaerys hears the scream of “Dragon!” and bolts as fast as a recovering-ill dude can out of his chambers at the thought that his mother or even one of his beloved little brothers came to visit him. He doesn’t immediately recognize Vermax, and Vermax doesn’t recognize Jace, but he does sense the dragonblood in Jace’s blood. Cregan arrives and his dread worsens over seeing Jacaerys unarmed, facing an ill-tempered Vermax. He goes so far as to draw Ice from its sheathe, which startles Vermax into defense-mode.

Jacaerys is eventually able to calm Vermax, and all those who witness the fearsome dragon grow less defensive. Jace would fly on Vermax, though he is still a bit physically weak from the fever. Cregan, for one, vehemently protested against it, and relented for Jace to take Vermax to the crypts to doze in. He does go with them to drag Jace to bed once Vermax settled. It does hurt them both to go back to the crypts so soon and see Arra’s statue which is surrounded by decaying winter roses.

Once Jacaerys is deemed fully recovered by the maesters, he begins rekindling his bond with Vermax. He takes daily flights around Winterfell and the upper North. One day, they fly all the way to the Vale before Jace realizes how far they traveled. He meets the Lady Jeyne Arryn, who offers him to stay for a few days.

(129 AC): Cregan and Jacaerys visit The Wall with a new group of recruits for the Night’s Watch. Jacaerys flies on Vermax, although the closer Vermax gets to the Wall, the more anxious Jace can feel him growing. Jace thinks Vermax is going to fly over the Wall, but Vermax suddenly veers off a few meters before with an ear-shattering screech, which startles all who are there.

There is a small encounter with some Wildlings, though Jacaerys sustains a grievous injury to his throat (by a lucky arrow or a short blade) that ends up damaging his vocal cords, almost rendering him mute. Cregan is devastated, and his protectiveness over Jacaerys grows to the point that he has Jacaerys by his side almost at all times after months long of bed-rest recovery.

Let’s just say Cregan often forgets that Jacaerys has another family, so he neglected to write to Rhaenyra or Viserys at all of Jacaerys’ few misfortunes over the years…so Rhaenyra doesn’t find out he is near-mute until she sees him for the first time in 11 years…

And Jacaerys is afraid to tell Rhaenyra that he cannot speak well anymore, because a King cannot rule a kingdom without a strong voice.

Cregan helps Jacaerys with navigating alternative methods of communication when he cannot or does not want to speak, though writing is his go-to method when it’s available. Jacaerys does speak occasionally, but he experiences gradual pain the more he has to use his voice.

(Late 131 AC): Lucerys comes of age (16). Jacaerys is officially invited back to King’s Landing to celebrate the end of his “exile” by King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower. Upon his arrival to greet Viserys and the royal family, Jacaerys and Rhaenyra break formal protocol and hug it out, although some people catch that Jacaerys doesn’t say anything while Rhaenyra both frets over and admires her beautiful grown boy.

Later, the family learns of Cregan and Jace’s close brotherly bond. Rhaenyra is miffed that Cregan’s lack of correspondence with her, especially regarding her son. Lucerys and Joffrey are slightly…or not so slightly jealous that Cregan has “stolen” their brother and has such a close bond that they should’ve had with Jace.

Everybody hugs it out though.
