Ooooh i actually thought of Dawn Strider for Dave before! I was thinking Dusk Strider for Dirk, I've heard Dusk can be a unisex name and as on the nose as the pun is, i feel like it kinda fits because parents do stupid naming conventions with their kids all the time.

Dusk is a beautiful name for Fem Dirk. It would also be fitting considering two songs relating to Dave and Dirk. That being Sunsetter and Moonsetter. Their genderbend names being Dawn and Dusk adds more personality when thinking about their names and the music behind it.

Finally second one of my Horizon lineup project of sort, a Strider! i'll be honest i have always been scared to draw horses, especially their legs, but this was not as bad as i expected. Made them a bit fat tho i feel, just a lot of cables in there lol.

Next up wil be the sawtooth!

one thing i always see done wrong in homestuck gender bends is the striders.

bro strider was probably very concerned about things being “gay” or too feminine and definitely inflicted toxic masculinity onto dave, so wouldn’t the gender bent version have internalized misogyny and push it onto dave/dove?

Most likely. Also I think Dove being the fem!Dave name is a bit too on the nose just cause the bird theme. I'm sure fem!Dave will still have crows or ravens still around. Be an unironic goth girl before Raven Teen Titans was a thing. Fem!Dirk probably would have the doves since the male counterpart has seagulls, which are white birds. Fem!Dirk having doves as well will be more symbolic considering she lives by herself on a home and doves searching out for new lands like Noah's arc. That kind of thing. Dawn Strider sounds more like a perfect name for Dave. One syllable and has four letters in its name.
