If you want to praise DuckTales 2017, please give credit to where the credit is due.
Not the Disney corporation as a whole.
But to the creators and the crew behind the show. Francisco Angones, Matt Youngberg, Sam King, the voice cast, etc.

Metal Vocalist Indicators in Astrology
I decided to do something a little different to practice reading natal charts so I had the idea to look at metal vocalists' natal charts. Unfortunately, for many of them I couldn't find any birth times so these will mostly be aspects and planet placements. I was specifically aiming for metal vocalists that actually "scream" and not just sing, even if the music they make is more like rock rather than metal to see if there's any significant indicators. So i'll start this list with the placements I saw the most.
Water Mars
This is the placement that appeared the most. I was actually very surprised at first to see this placement pop up A LOT. But the more I thought about it, the more things added up, because of how much water mars bottle up how the feel. I think water mars channel the energy of metal music very well. I was expecting to see a lot of fire mars, but I only saw a sprinkle of leo mars and aries mars here and there.
Examples:
Scorpio mars: Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Jonathan Davis (Korn), Marilyn Manson (Marilyn Manson), Angela Gossow(Arch Enemy), Joe Duplantier (Gojira), Franz (Attila), Kadeem France(Loathe), Winston McCall (Parkway Drive).
Cancer mars: Phil Anselmo (Pantera), Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Caleb Shomo (Beartooth), George Fisher (Cannibal Corpse), Chris Roetter (Like Moths to Flames), CJ McMahon(Thy Art is Murder), Alex Koehler (Chelsea Grin), Ben Burnley (Breaking Benjamin).
Pisces mars: Chino Moreno (Deftones), Zach de la Rocha (Rage against the machine- yes, i know, he raps, but he does in fact scream in his music), Frank Mullen (Suffocation), Jake Luhrs(August Burns Red).
Mercury-Uranus
This placement makes a lot of sense, because this placement is a huge indicator of having a unique voice in general. I mostly saw a mix of harsh aspects(conjunction, oppositions and squares.), but there were some harmonious placements also.
Most of the people on this list above had this placement, but here are some without water mars:
Ex:
James Hetfeild-conj.(Metallica), Tatiana Shamayluk-sextile(Jinjer), Maynard James Keenan-trine(Tool/ A Perfect Circle), Morgan Landers-sextile(Kittie).
Mars-Uranus
People with this placement have a desire to express themselves through ways that are considered 'out there', hence, this is a good placement for metal vocalists(screaming).
Ex:
Tom Araya -conj.(Slayer), Corey Taylor -opp.(Slipknot), Maria Brink -square(In This Moment), Lacey Sturm -Trine (Flyleaf), David Draiman -square(Disturbed), Chad Grey -Trine(Mudvayne).
Extra Indicators:
These placements weren't as common but I saw some synchronicities to them, so here are some extras.
Mercury-pluto/lilith/saturn- I suppose these placements could sort of an edge to how people communicate, but it wasn't super abundant.
Sun-Mars - this was fairly common, and ofc it makes sense that people with this aspect would do something as bold as scream in music.
Moon-mars - This one wasn't super common but I could definitely see how people with this placement could be potential metal vocalists.
Leo Mars- after all the water mars this is the other more common mars placement. Roar, Leo, roar!!
Taurus Mars- Yet another placement I was not expecting, but I did see it in a lot of people's charts.
Possibly Virgo moon- okay, to be fair, again, most of the natal charts I looked at didn't have birth times so this could be inaccurate. If it wasnt for that I would've put this placement at the top of the list with water mars, but from what I saw a-hell-lot of vocalists had this moon sign.
Conclusion
I'm going to be honest, I was expecting to see a lot of aquarius or aries, but to my suprise that wasn't the case. But the point of this post isn't to say that you MUST have these placements to be a vocalist or whatever, but just to see what kind of energy is most likely to be suited for metal screaming. I put a lot of time into researching this stuff, but it was fun anyways😁.

Not enough people discuss the cast of DuckTales 2017, and so I think I should. Almost every single casting choice is perfect, and I am going to gush about them a little bit.
DANNY PUDI!!!- I freaking love him. I started watching this show because Danny Pudi was in it. Him as Huey is so perfect because Pudi does decent in to madness so well. Also Autism. My Community era bled perfectly in to this.
Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan- Less to say about these too, but they absolutely slay as well. They were also perfect casting choices, because Schwartz does Dewey’s hyper-chaos so well, and Moynihan can do Louie’s smugness perfectly.
Kate Micucci- Absolutely. That is exactly how Webby is meant to sound. High pitched and over excited. Webby isn’t my favorite character but she may be the voice that I could never see replaced.
David Tennant- I was literally shocked to find out that he was Scrooge. He does the accent so well, for a very overdone Scottish accent. This was such a funny role for him to take, because it’s not at all like what he usually does (serious live action stuff) but he still put his whole Tennussy in to it.
Jim Rash- He has a very distinct voice, so even though I didn’t know he was in the show I immediately knew who he was. Usually this would take me out of it a little, but Rash was a really good choice for this character so I didn’t even mind. He does “mildly insane guy” very well, and that’s exactly what Gearloose is.
John Gemberling- A weird one that you may not recognize, but he plays Doofus Drake. And he is really good at being Doofus Drake. Another one that I probably couldn’t imagine with a different voice.
Beck Bennet- He always sounds like an idiot, and usually plays one in SNL. So he was a good choice for playing an idiot. Perfect for Launchpad.
Lin-Manuel Miranda- Similar to Bennet, his voice just sounds like he’s meant to play that character. I don’t know, and maybe it’s from Hamilton, but Miranda’s voice just sounds really pathetic. Pathetic in a wet cat sort of way. He’s perfect to play a guy who has really know idea what he’s doing being a superhero, and also just a nerd ass science guy.
Finally: Tony Anselmo- He is Donald Duck in literally everything, so this is less about good casting and more about appreciation. Anselmo nails it. Absolutely perfect. I don’t know what he sounds like when he’s not doing the Donald Duck voice, but I have to assume he really works hard on voice acting. He slays, and I only wish that they hadn’t covered up his voice in certain episodes, because I genuinely enjoy listening to it for some reason. It grew on me. He can also do different emotions very well, from fury to love and appreciation. Which is most impressive because he sounds like he’s speaking through a kazoo. 10/10 would Tony Anselmo again.
#ducktales#DuckTales 2017#I Don’t know if I should tag every character I mentioned#but I think if I followed one of the tags I would want to hear my fav character’s voice mentioned#voice acting#*inhales* okay here we go#huey duck#dewey duck#louie duck#webby vanderquack#scrooge mcduck#gyro gearloose#Doofus Drake#launchpad mcquack#fenton crackshell cabrera#gizmoduck#Donald Duck#okay that was a lot#also if I didn’t mention anyone it’s not because I think they’re bad#it’s just that I forgot#like I forgot about Beakley#oops#she’s good too

ASK EDDIE returns Thursday, September 7, 7:00 PM PT to our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/filmnoirfoundation/live
FNF prez Eddie Muller responds to film noir fan questions fielded by the Foundation's Director of Communications Anne Hockens In this episode, we discuss “Oppenheimer”, why audiences laugh inappropriately at classic film screenings, how to get the most out of a NOIR CITY film festival, Fritz Lang’s “The Woman in the Window” vs. “Scarlet Street”, if either the Dick Tracy or the Charlie Chan films can be considered film noir, and more. We wind up the show with a discussion of Westerns, both noir and not. On the cat front, Charlotte is curious and Emily sleeps.
Want your question answered in a future episode? We solicit questions from our email subscribers in our monthly newsletters. Sign up for free at https://www.filmnoirfoundation.org/signup.html
Everyone who signs up on our email list and contributes $20 or more to the Film Noir Foundation receives the digital version of NOIR CITY Magazine for a year. Donate here: https://www.filmnoirfoundation.org/contribute.html
Can’t join us on Thursday? No problem! A recording will be up on our YouTube channel, @NoirCity, on Friday, September 8: https://www.youtube.com/user/NoirCitySF
Note: Eddie will not be able to answer questions posted during the livestream nor ones left on our social media accounts
This week's questions
This past Saturday night, we were in your audience at the Music Box Theater in Chicago for the screening of “Call Northside 777”. For some viewers, the 1948 dialogue seemed hopelessly funny, no matter how serious the scene, whereas for others, the same dialogue elicited no such reaction. Do you see this kind of split reaction among viewers when you present noir films across the country, and if so, what do you make of it? (Is it okay to laugh at a serious scene if/when the dialogue sounds too hokey to sustain the mood?) -Mike I am planning to attend my first NOIR CITY this year. Any suggestions for first timers to maximize the experience? -Carlton, Atlanta, GA Could you put in a plug for the downloadable back issues of NOIR CITY Magazine? -Jerry, Burke, VA What should take precedence …the music or the sound? Very often, if the sound effects are that powerful and important, they take the music out. There are directors who feel that one shouldn’t hear the music. Music can be overshadowed by horses’ whinnies, or anything the sound-effect person put into the track prior to the musical scoring. -Alan, San Anselmo, CA. I have a question concerning noir films set in England but staring American actors. In "Night and the City” Richard Widmark would not be able to obtain a work permit. Burt Lancaster in "Kiss The Blood off My Hands” is in England illegally, having jumped ship. How does Bill Saunders not get deported at the end of his prison sentence and how does he get a legitimate job as a truck driver without a passport or work papers? Also, there is nothing in the plot that makes it imperative that it be set in England. The story could easily have been changed to take place in the States. Why not make this change? Or am I the only one who notices or cares about such details? -David Fishman, Chesterfield, VA Curious if Eddie is familiar with a tongue-in-cheek 1954 homage to Film Noir produced as a 30-minute black and white episode of "The Adventures of Superman" TV series titled "Semi-Private Eye”. -Brian In watching TCM's marathon of Dick Tracy movies recently, it struck me how Noirish these RKO B movies were. Would these Dick Tracy movies be considered Film Noir? If so, would Eddie show them either on “Noir Alley”, or at a Noir film festival? -Scott, Los Angeles, CA Would you consider the Charlie Chan movies noir, and should they be aired regardless of the Chinese aspect of them? -Gerard It’s so interesting that Fritz Lang basically remade his 1944 film, The Woman in the Window, just a year later with “Scarlet Street”. Do you know of any other instances where a director made such a close variation on his own film? Also, which of the two films do you think is better? -Kingpin Johnny, Doylestown, PA I recently watched a batch of early 1930s Joan Bennett movies and was struck by the contrast of her wise-cracking, sassy characters in those films with the film-noir roles she would go on to play in the '40s and '50s. Can you think of any other actresses that made a similar transition? -John from Bethesda Would Eddie consider "Julie" to be Doris Day’s noir film? Maybe “Midnight Lace”? -Pam Eddie, are you a fan of Westerns and what are your favorites? Would any qualify as noir? -Kitaman

And now for the second part of my top 15 singers list
11. David Draiman
While David might not have the pretty voice expected out of most singers, I do have a great deal of love for his voice. It's very rough, very much not the type of voice that's akin to Rob Halford or Midnight, but it suits his music so well and that's what matters. No he doesn't sound like Lemmy or Dave, he is in fact a pretty good vocalist, but it has it's unique gruffness that I like. I'm actually surprised he's managed to keep his voice in good working order after that nasty bout of acid reflux (God knows I can't say the same for myself). Like with many others that I have listed out, I really don't think there is one song that best shows off his voice, but I will say, I would recommend "The Sound Of Silence" and the album Indestructible.
12. John Lawton
Here is also Lucifer's Friend/Uriah Heep's John Lawton. I actually discovered him not through Uriah Heep, but by different means entirely. Though that could also be me spacing out during Fallen Angel, but questionable albums aside, I love John's work with LF the most. Not that his stuff with Uriah Heep isn't worth listening to, it absolutely is, but I was introduced to that exquisite voice of his through LF that I am biased. Best songs are "Ride The Sky", "Toxic Shadows", and "Keep Going".
13. Amy Lee
Does she even need any introduction? I think everyone and their mother knows who Amy Lee is at this point. I've known about her since I first came across Evanescence at the age of 13 and oh boy! I remember being able to properly sing along with her whenever I would play Evanescence. Her voice may not be all that special to a lot of folks, but it certainly is to me. Favorite song at the moment is "Going Under". I've been slowly rediscovering my love for them so for right now, I'll only be listing that one song, but I do plan on making a separate post in the future with more songs and more commentary!
14. Phil Anselmo
Next up is Phil Anselmo of Pantera fame! While it may seem as though Phil is just another aggressive metal vocalist, he has moments were his range really shines through! Songs like "Heresy" and "Cemetery Gates" are some examples of what his voice can do, but especially Heresy! And besides, there is certainly nothing wrong with having an aggressive voice like his. If anything, it definitely goes with what he does and doesn't sound out of place like some vocalists do.
15. Adrian Belew
And finally we have Mr. Belew of King Crimson fame. Adrian may not seem very special, but he does have a voice that I personally find very beautiful! Seriously one listen to "Walking On Air" and "One Time" was enough for me to get hooked on his voice. Though Greg is my favorite of all the KC singers, Adrian is the one I have to put on this list simply because I cannot picture Greg on any of the albums that Adrian sang on. I feel it would sound off to me personally. Adrian has that softness to his voice that is perfect for albums like Thrak that Greg simply lacks. In conclusion, I love Adrian Belew's voice a lot!

Danica McKellar (A Royal Date for Christmas, Swing Into Romance) and Oliver Rice (Firefly Lane, Magic In Mistletoe) have booked their next flick for Great American Family. The duo will star in A Royal Christmas Ball, with waltzes choreographed by Dancing With the Stars pro Gleb Savchenko.
Production begins this week on the movie that will premiere this November as part of Great American Christmas 2024.
In A Royal Christmas Ball, Chelsea Jones (McKellar) is a dance instructor and studio owner in Chicago who inspires kids to find themselves through dance. Just before Christmas, Chelsea discovers a photo she’s never seen before. Chelsea thinks the young woman is her birth mother who passed away when she was only five years old. The woman is in a wedding dress tugging on the hand of a man wearing a wedding ring, but that is all that can be seen of the man Chelsea believes may be her father.
The photo’s handwritten inscription reads, “Our place, Havenshire, December 23, 1984.” With only the internet, a plane ticket, and lifelong determination to go on, Chelsea now has four days in Havenshire to solve the mystery of her birth family. Along the way, she’ll have to sneak into a castle, teach a stubborn Prince how to dance, and be in just the right place on Christmas Eve when the bells toll.
“Royal movies are among our viewers’ favorites,” said Bill Abbott, President & CEO, Great American Media. “Finding love when and where you least expect it is the heart of royal fan fiction and Danica and Oliver do a brilliant job of making heartfelt wishes come true.”
“Oliver Rice exudes a dashing Cary Elwes-vibe,” added McKellar. “Oliver grew up in London and graduated from Oxford School of Drama and brings genuine nobility to the role of Prince Phillip. I cannot wait for fans to see him in the film.”
A Royal Christmas Ball is executive produced by Brad Krevoy, Amy Krell, Vince Balzano, McKellar, Jimmy Townsend, Susie Belzberg Krevoy, and Don McBrearty. Producer is David Anselmo. Supervising producers are Kelly Martin, Michael Shepard, Michael Beard, and James Mou.
A Royal Christmas Ball is written by Marcy Holland. Story is from McKellar and Marcy Holland.
