McDuck Family Members Most Likely to Start Sh*t at Thanksgiving Dinner
Tumblr media
Ah Thanksgiving. The holiday celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November (in America that is), one with food, family, and celebrating what we’re thankful for! (Wanna feel bad? Learn about the holiday’s origins!)
And no family is quite as big as the found family from DuckTales; so arguments are bound to happen at a dinner table filled with so many zany characters with interesting pasts and quirks. Let’s honor those who would throw the first punch at a family dinner, shall we?
Bentina Beakley
Tumblr media
I wanna cut Beakley some slack. She most likely had a long day before dinner even started what with all the preparations she did for dinner. Not just cooking for 20+ family members plus other side/recurring characters but also the cleaning and presentation
But let’s face it. This woman can be so condescending at times. And judgmental. You just know if someone is showing up to dinner wearing jeans and sweater she’d have something to say about it. And she strikes me as someone who would slam the dishes while cleaning them only for someone to say, “Hey Beakley do you need help with the dishes?” and then she’d be like “No. It’s fine. I got them”
But it’s not fine. Go help her with the dishes. She deserves a break
Dewey Duck
Tumblr media
When I was first thinking about this list I originally thought “No way any of the triplets would start anything on Thanksgiving” Huey is a good boy and Louie would definitely take it easy on a day where you’re legally allowed to sit around, be lazy, and eat food. But then I remembered Dewey and how much of a diva he can be
We know Dewey is an entertainer and with everyone coming to dinner, he has a huge “captive” audience that he can perform for. Whether it be an original Thanksgiving song, a one man Dewey show about the first Thanksgiving, a sonnet about a bonnet, or a very special Thanksgiving episode of Dewey Dew-Night; that kid will want all the attention in him. And the very second the spotlight is taken off, oh boy…
Gladstone Gander
Tumblr media
Look at this prick. Don’t you wanna slap his face!?!Anyway I love Gladstone Gander, but he’s the kind of family member that just would go on and on about himself and bring every conversation back to him again and how great his life is
That’s great Gladstone. Happy for you, the rest of us have to pay for our sushi but cool. Glad your good luck is really paying off, jerk
But honestly. It’s his tone. It’s the kind of tone that gives off that he knows he’s starting shit but won’t admit it
Goldie O’Gilt
Tumblr media
I mean, it’s Goldie. What else can I say?
Gandra Dee
Tumblr media
Oh man. There’s so many different ways controversy would start with this morally gray ex-FOWL agent and I’m here for it. Let’s face it, out of all the characters present, Gandra Dee would most likely be the one to bring up the holiday’s horrible origins. If anyone is making it their duty to make a rich white family uncomfortable on Thanksgiving, it’s Gandra Dee
She’d get political and even directly ask Scrooge who exactly he voted for in the past two Presidential elections (he claims to be progressive, but he’s still the richest duck in the world. Just how many tax cuts is this man getting to keep that status?)
Oh and what about the treatment of her overwork and underpaid boyfriend? Why is he still working in the bathroom?
Oddly enough, I can see her and Scrooge bonding over a mutual disdain for Gladstone Gander. What a prick
Kit Cloudkicker
Tumblr media
It’s not that exactly what Kit does that’ll start a fight, but what he doesn’t do.
Kit is the kinda guy that was supposed to bring a dessert but totally forgot to pick something up from the bakery so instead he’s stopping at the gas station on the way to dinner to pick up some Twinkies
Kit is the kinda guy that would “take a walk” before dinner and not do anything to hide the scent and now all the kids are wondering how a skunk got inside
Gyro Gearloose
Tumblr media
It’s Gyro. Something is bound to piss him off at some point
Doofus Drake
Tumblr media
I am so tired of the fandom not including Doofus in this found family (Louie and him made up and are friends now and BOYD is his brother, sorry it’s canon) so he’s here on the list
But he’s still a new addition to this family. And a weirdo and a rich brat with a lot of issues that someone should seriously help him with. He’s gonna make everyone uncomfortable. Is it intentional? Or is he just being Doofus? Who knows
What I do know is this, don’t eat the dish he brought.
Della, Donald, and Scrooge!
Tumblr media
The original three!
These three are responsible for splitting up the family in the first place so it’s no surprise that they’re number one on this list!!
Yes they’ve squashed their beef with one another and moved past the Spear of Selene, but they are still themselves
The ones most likely to start shit over the dumbest things
These three are going to be bickering over who should carve the turkey. And the argument will be so loud and hectic that no one will question why a bunch of birds are eating a turkey
Anyway, hope you enjoyed this list. It wasn’t meant to slander any characters, just did it for fun. Happy Thursday everyone.

ok i forgot that goldie isnt canonically 5'1 on a good day so i have to restructure this ask
1) thoughts on short goldie
2) is heron short also
3) (contingent on answers 1 and 2) thoughts on scrooge and beakley both falling for tiny evil women
1) & 2)
I think the toxic yuri polycule height chart is something like this—!
Tumblr media
They all wear heels so it’s not exact (also I whipped this up in like 5 minutes lol)
Huifen is tall, she’s a black heron after all, and though they’re not the tallest birds ever they’re still pretty long! But she looks short standing next to Beakley, because everyone does (also I undersized her a little bit in my first human drawing by accident, whoops). Goldie is a short queen LMAO, she’s not minuscule, only slightly shorter than the average person, but she looks tiny next to these two (she might be slightly shorter than I drew her here, idk, I struggled to scale her LOL). Scrooge, for the record, is around the same height as Goldie!
In terms of their builds btw, Beakley is, obviously, very muscular! Though she might seem like a tank, she’s actually very soft — big ol squishy teddy bear! Heron on the other hand is a gangly mf, long, skinny, and sharp. Goldie is sort of in between them, an hourglass build like Huifen, but with more muscle on her (not half as much as Beakley, though).
3)
Heron might not be tiny but Beakley treats her like she is, picks her up like a feral cat when she’s being too much 😌 Scrooge and Goldie only have a very slight height difference, but I think he’s very smug about it lol
Also, my funniest headcanon ever is that Beakley has a thing for bad girls, and she HATES IT. She’s so embarrassed about it and fully intends to take it to her grave. This also leads to her hating the aforementioned bad girls even more, bc she’s so frustrated with herself for liking the in the first place. So Beakley can spend 24 hours a day ranting about how much she hates someone, and be blushing the entire time. All this to say, Beakley might not technically have a leg to stand on when it comes to criticising Scrooge’s relationship, but that doesn’t stop her.
I think they’re both massive hypocrites about it, bc they wanna protect eachother despite the other really not needing the help. They’re also endlessly frustrated with eachother’s toxic Yuri partners. Beakley to a much bigger degree because she definitely has a thing for Goldie, which only makes her hate her even more. Scrooge is more annoyed by Beakley and Heron than anything else bc he just does not understand what the hell is going on there, but he’ll also occasionally be all,
Tumblr media
In conclusion, Beakley and Scrooge being a disaster sibling duo is my favourite thing ever. Scrooge is practically immortal, nothing can take him down. Beakley is a walking tank, she could walk off a bullet. They looked at eachother and went “that idiot needs me to protect them from their own love life” and they were kind of right??

How will the characters be portrayed in DT47 compared to DT87, and DT17?
to be honest i havent really watched enough of dt87 to say 😅im drawing more inspiration from dt17 + the comics
I do have some thought-out differences for some characters though! :)
I'd do more characters but I don't have everything set in stone completely yet .
these links have more up to date information : phantom and the sorceress / specter of the past , phantom blot/rorschach specter
Tumblr media
doodled this a while ago but scrooge / graham are different in terms of ... business practices. DT17!Scrooge is whitewashed (in the traditional sense) from the comics (dt87!scrooge moreso from what i know). but i personally think that scrooge's penny pinching debt collecting personality in the comics can still be fun (+creates conflict) but ALSO . personally. I don't really think it's good to say you can be the Richest Person Ever while still having good ethics. ESPECIALLY when said billionaire collects and takes artifacts from other cultures
Graham (dt47 scrooge) remembers debts extremely well, and always puts himself in situations where people would become indebted to him (even family). he takes contracts and small print very seriously. he also has the same issue of hoarding all his treasures in his house or money bin, and separates them by how useful they are to him (like, say, if there was a magical Papyrus that can be used to make contracts that Bind things... cough cough)
honestly i think that dt17!scrooge's aversion to magic felt slightly contradictory at times? considering how much he collects/uses them
i dont remember if it was ever said in the show, but while Graham likes adventuring, I don't think he does it just for the sake of adventure. He wants treasure, but he also wants to give the kids (dt47 donald/della/hdl/webby etc) an experience and let them travel because he remembers being poor and how many things he wasn't able to do. but with this mindset he doesn't recognize that it's his fault when they start getting bad coping mechanisms or tiring themselves out trying to keep up/impress him
but i think the most major difference between dt17 and dt47 is this; Scrooge built the Spear of Selene, and did everything he could to try and bring Della back. DT17's narrative, even with Last Crash, does not put the blame on him; he didn't really do anything wrong. but for dt47 i REALLY want to emphasize how many people Phoebe (Della)'s disappearance affected - and the lengths that Graham went to hide it. I made a chart a while ago that shows how Phoebe's disappearance affects people and Gyro/Beakley's equivalents (the ones with the red star) have specific gag orders that Do NOT allow them to say anything about it. The cousins (INCLUDING PERCY) only know that she disapearred, Oliver/Gladstone trusts Percy/Donald's judgement that it's Graham's fault, and Frankie tries to understand things from both sides with no avail. Graham forcing Archie to keep quiet about it does not go well at all, especially with how guilty Archie feels about building the rocket
Tumblr media
tldr; tries to make people owe him so that he always has leverage, uses magical artifacts to build his business, has bad coping mechanisms regarding his childhood (that lead to him being adventurous, untrusting, penny pinching etc), and he really sucks for how much he's burying what to phoebe. ALSO i forgot to mention but he doesn't really have a money bin in the traditional sense. I want to give him the world's most complete coin collection to make him seem slightly more insane in a different way.
. ok realizing that this is really long and you're asking how they're portrayed and not just the differences. heres some quicker comparisons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(please read the strange case of dr jekyll and mr hyde)/ (the poor thing has anxiety because of valerie (beakley's) teachings)
this post is still consistent with what i have planned for team science + archie

(this is late because I was super busy yesterday but idc)
Webby Week Day 2: Vacation/Sleepover!
Planning a vacation, Webby had realised, was far, far different to planning an adventure.
Scrooge certainly enjoyed it less, for a start. All the hassle of preparing, but with no death-traps, ancient curses or lost tribes - and no treasure to show for it at the end, either.
Donald, quite on the other hand, was revelling in it. He had his suitcase all packed, and he was wearing a Hawaiian shirt that looked like it was from 1996, and a pair of glittery sunglasses.
Huey was all packed too, as he had been for the last three days ("A Woodchuck must always be prepared", he had said when Louie was confused why he was packing so early)
Dewey couldn't wait. He had a travel playlist all picked out, with requests from some of the others (Della had suggested some of her favourites from Powerline, and Dewey just couldn't say no) and was more than ready to make this the most epic vacation in all of history.
Even Beakley was excited (though she still insisted on bringing survival gear and weaponry - the main advantage of having Launchpad and Della as pilots was that airport security wasn't a problem).
Now the day had arrived. They would touch down in Madrid, and have the most relaxing week of their lives.
But something - no, someone - wasn't here yet.
"So, is Lena coming, or are we just gonna wait here?" Louie asked, as Webby tried not to look too disheartened.
"Well, I haven't heard anything from her yet today," Webby answered, "Can we just wait a couple more minutes?"
"It's ok, Webby," Della said, kneeling to meet her eyes, "I'm sure she's just finishing getting ready, that's all."
"But what if she forgot?" Webby looked anxiously at her, "What if something came up and she never told me? What if she's sick, or hurt, or-"
"Whoa, calm down that brain of yours," Della put a hand on her shoulder to bring her back to the present, "I understand you're worried, but I'm sure she's fine. How about you text her again, and see?"
Webby opened her phone.
Sure enough, a message popped up on the screen.
"On the way, sorry I'm late, I got caught up with Violet, see ya soon Pink 💝" the message read. Webby smiled.
"See? What'd I tell you?" Della ruffled Webby's hair, making her giggle.
A few minutes later, there came a knock at the front door.
"I'll get it!" Webby bolted down the foyer, and opened the door. There, with a backpack on, and looking very pleased, was Lena.
Webby ran up to her and hugged her.
"Hey," Lena said, "I'm so sorry, I woke up late, and Violet insisted on trying to teach me some Spanish..."
"It's ok, you're here now," Webby replied, "But I was kinda worried about you."
"I still can't believe your family's letting me come on vacation with you," Lena looked around, "I mean, sleeping over is one thing, but I guess this kinda feels weird, like I shouldn't be here."
"Don't ever say that," Webby told her, "You're the best, and we're lucky to have you."
"Besides, if anything crazy happens, it'd do us good to have a sorceress around," Dewey pointed out.
"Nope, nothing crazy is happening this week," Louie said, "We are going to Madrid, and I am going to sit down, sunbathe and eat churros!"
"Ah, you're here!" Scrooge smiled when he saw Lena, "Let's get going, shall we?"
Lena nodded.
"To adventure!" Della cried.
"No," Webby responded, "To vacation!"

Tuesday night fic!
This fic happens a little after the ep: "The 87 cent solution!"
Sorry but I don't remember if LP was in the funeral, so he wasn't.
Warning: blood and angst
Enjoy :)
《》《》《》
Since he left St. Canard to visit his family in Duckburg for some days, it was the first time Drake went for a walk in the city. He woke up early in the morning and came out of the mansion he grew up to find an old friend from high school in the square. They talked all the morining, lunched together and spent all the afternoon fishing along in the lake.
When he arrived at home, he knew the things aren't that good. He knew that Scrooge have the gold fever, but he throught that Beakley and the children can take care of him while he's out and Donald is in his job. To be honest, Drake doesn't know how Scrooge never had the gold fever before like, he was in the Golden Rush! How he never caught this sickness before?
What he wasn't ready to see, is his brother. Donald was passed out in the floor, with swollen eyes and some blood dripping out of the back of his head, forming a little puddle. He desperately tried to wake him up calling his name, but it doesn't worked. He ran screaming for Scrooge until he found him in the kitchen, talking with Beakley.
Scrooge and Beakley stopped the talking when Drake entered in the kitchen, breathless "SCROOGE!"
Scrooge tried to calm his nephew down while Beakley was taking a water glass to him "Lad, calm down and tell me what happened."
"No time! Don is bad! He's-- *breathe* he's fainted in the living room and-- *breathe* and he have blood in his head!"
"Oh my!" Scrooge, Beakley and Drake ran to see Donald in the living room exactly how Drake described.
"We have to take him to an hospital! Now!" Drake said.
"He is right Mr. Scrooge, the hurt is bad. I think I can fix it here but he needs to see a doctor fast, or..."
"Or what?" Drake doesn't like it.
"Nothing, Drake. You'll stay here to take care of the children while me, Beakley and Launchpad takes Donald to an hospital."
"No way! I'm coming with you! He's my brother and I'm worried about him!"
"I can put Donald in the car and stay here with the kids, Mr. Scrooge." Beakley tried to calm them.
Scrooge sighed. "Alright, then. Drake, calls Launchpad. He'll be here in one minute."
"I can drive, it will be faster. Let's go to my car!" Drake said while Beakley was carrying Donald with Scrooge in his heels, everybody worried about the fainted sailor.
———
Donald hurted himself so many times in his life that someday it would be too bad, now it really happened. In the hospital, the doctor said that a vein ruptured when he hited the head in the floor while passing out was the motive that Donald had to have a surgery in a rush to fix it up. He really could die if Drake hadn't noticed it.
Now, Scrooge and Drake are together waiting the surgery finish to know how Donald is.
"Hey, I see that you're better. You looks healthy." Drake broke the silence.
"Thanks, I really feel better. I found out what happened, it was only an enemy trying to make me looks crazy traveling in the time to steal me. I wasn't crazy in the end." Scrooge said like it's this the most normal thing in the world.
To Drake, this would be the most craziness he ever heard if he didn't knew with who he's talking. "Wow. Just another normal day in McDuck Mansion" he joked.
Scrooge laughed, and Drake continued "How you discovered that?"
Suddenly, Scrooge lost his smile. "It was a genius plan the children helped me to came up, I rested all day yesterday to feel good enough to do it. I... I faked my own death."
Drake laughed "Wow, that was really genius!"
Scrooge continued "The children told everyone that I couldn't resist the complications of the illness and had made all the funeral arrangements. The only one who wasn't told was... your brother."
"WHAT?!"
"The kids forgotten it! He worked all the week, we forgot that he didn't knew anything! Today was his day off, we thought that he already knew!"
"You can't be serious. This can't be true, no way."
"But it is! Donald was crying hard all the time in the funeral! As he was an actor when he was younger, we thought he was just pretending!"
"So that's why his eyes were swollen. How you dares?!"
"He fainted when he returned at the funeral and saw me alive and fine. You know what happened next." Scrooge stated sadly.
Drake couldn't believe. So long after their adventuries with Scrooge, his uncle still doesn't care for his brother's health. Ten years after the Spear of Selene goes wrong and he still thinks that they are indestructibles, that nothing can stop them. Donald didn't had a good health when he was younger because of the adventuries, and it isn't better after these ten years, on the contrary, it's even worse.
"How you doesn't noticed anything? How could you let this happen? You wasn't the one who raised us? You doesn't care about your nephew???"
"Of course I do! I just think I doesn't know who's him anymore, he's so different now."
"Of course! We raised the triplets together, but alone! I changed too! But there was no other way! We were trying hard to overcome the Spear of Selene and scared about how to raise these boys for too much time! And maybe we still are! That changed us!"
"I know. You two did a great job."
"Donald Duck's family?" A doctor said when she arrived at the waiting room. Drake and Scrooge got up at the same time, worried with the relative.
"Good evening, misters. The surgery was a success. His life is no longer in danger." Both of them let out big sighs "But you'll only can see him tomorrow." They thanked to her before she left.
Left alone by the doctor, the feeling of the guilt was around them, whispering in their ears. Drake was feeling guilty for thinking he should have stayed with his brother instead of spending all day with his old friend, despite the fact that he didn't know about the plan either. Scrooge was feeling guilty for thinking that he should have taken better care of his nephew, he should have sensed that something was wrong with him in the way he was crying. Despite of all of that theories, in the depth down, they just wanted one thing: a healthy, smiling Donald.

I still need to flesh her out a bit more but
For the Darkwing Duck OC month
Day 1: Introducing Bela Beakley
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the Darkwing AU version, Bela is Bentina Beakley's daughter (and posteriorly Morgana Macawber's too) and Drake Mallard's childhood friend.
Despite her sweet, cheerful and polite act, Bela is actually pretty manipulative and distrustful deep down. But once she has inevitably warmed up to someone, the fear of losing them brings her to be overprotective of them to the point of being straight up threatening to any outsider she thinks might do any harm and/or forgetting her own self-preservation instincts and all common sense.
If it was up to her, Bela would rather live a quiet and uneventful life, without all the heroics and drama happening at every corner. But given that it's literally impossible to avoid chaos in St Canard and how tangled up in the mess her whole family and friends are every time, she's extremely aware she'll keep spending countless nights looking after her loved ones while they fight the neverending list of supervillains and crooks across the dark streets for many years.
DAY 2: BACKSTORY
As far as Bela can remember, she always had been at the orphanage. A couple of families came and went but she always ended up back there eventually, which gave her quite a bit of a bad reputation between both kids and adults.
Until the day she ran away for a night, literally falling from the sky into the arms of a very surprised Agent 22, and accidentally got tangled up in a FOWL plan. By the end of the mission, it was clear that SHUSH would have to make the kid disappear from FOWL's radar just in case they wrongly assumed she had useful information, to which the agent responded with volunteering to keep Bela and move to St. Canard to keep a low profile for a while.
DAY 3: DESIGN DETAILS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bela's bangs are always tied up behind her head, either in a small ponytail or with a big bow (which always contains a tracker just in case)
In the early years, her clothes are always classy and her hair curled and pretty, but as time passes she starts chopping it short and favoring more comfortable and hard to grab clothes, complemented with small bags to carry supplies. Her colors are usually soft oranges with the occasional green and pink.
Her hair is naturally as white as the rest of her feathers, but she loves to experiment with hair dye and as an adult she's rarely seen with her natural color, favoring blonde over it. She also starts wearing two golden rings, one at each hand, both full of gadgets and small tools, and an enchanted red necklace for protection, courtesy of Morgana.

Ok some context: this comic is from the story in my head is where everything in ducktales is the same except Gyro is Scrooge’s son and grew up with Della and Donald in the mansion
This comic thingy happens after timephoon and probably richest duck in the world basically after Della sends Louie off in timephoon Gyro tries to stand up for him (bc in this mind storyline he’s quite close with Louie for lots of reasons in the story that aren’t important right now)
it turns into an argument and it gets heated when Della says something like ‘what would you know, you’re not even a real mcduck’ and everyone is shocked Beakley and Scrooge and even Della herself knows she went too far
She tries to apologise but Gyro is just like no (it went a certain way in my head but again not important rn) and he leaves
Fast forward to after richest duck in the world she’s made up with Louie yadda yadda but she hasn’t with Gyro
They go on an adventure and Scrooge forces Gyro to bc he’s important for something
Something happens and they get trapped in a cave place thing and are forced to talk about things (™️/j) make up
EDIT: I forgot to mention what ‘everyone’s said it at some point means’ basically Scrooge said it some point after spear of Selene and so did Donald idk who else maybe one of the kids ok bye

Lena becoming a Sabrewing (long post)
This will be a long one, but I felt like sharing my take on Lena becoming a part of the Sabrewing family.
Lena and Vi started truly hanging out by themselves sometime after "The Nightmare on Killmotor Hill". Before, it was usually with Webby and at the manor.
Lena did stay at the manor for a while. She was welcome, by the kids, Scrooge and, to her surprise, even Beakley. But, even though she is fine staying there with her friends, sleeping over for a night or two, a prolonged stay, especially early on, was a trigger for her after what happened between her, Magica and Scrooge during Shadow War. So, after a while, she started to spend most of the nights in the old amphitheatre again. Nobody could really convince her to do otherwise.
This is when she truly started hanging out with Vi, outside of their sleepovers at Webby's. The very first time Vi brought her over for dinner (after a LOT of convincing), Ty and Indy's "child in need" alarms binged.
The thing is, Ty grew up in a toxic, verbally and sometimes physically abusive home (that liked to give the perception of a perfect, Christian family). Indy's home was very loving, but his parents fostered a few kids, so he knows what kids from difficult backgrounds look and sound like. They knew that there is something about Lena and then they managed to get Vi to tell them what she knows. While Vi was pretty open with her dads about her life, at first, she introduced Lena as a friend I met through Webby who can do magic. She was scared her dads would stop her from hanging out with Lena if they knew of her "parentage".
But then Ty and Indy pressed Violet about it and Violet told them what she knew. She knew about Lena staying at the amphitheatre, and how she can't force herself to stay at the manor for longer periods of time. Indy and Ty were a bit surprised to hear Lena's backstory, to say the least. But they were not put off or scared, they did not judge Lena for it.
They were slightly disappointed because Violet did not tell them the full truth at first. But more in themselves than in Violet, because they absolutely loathe the idea of being the type of parents their kid has the need to keep secrets from. They trust her and they want her to trust them.
More importantly, not only do they know that their daughter is a good judge of character, but they also have met Lena themselves. They know while she can be sarcastic and dismissive, she is a good kid. And they are very determined that the kid needed a home. Vi was all for having a cool, magical sister so the Sabrewings were now on a mission.
Operation Adopt Lena was a go!
Both Ty and Indy are good cooks so it didn't take a lot of convincing for Lena to come for dinner a second time. Or the third. Or the 10th. And then, one day, Vi suggested she slept over. This happened around three times before Ty and Indy felt like they are all familiar enough with one another to suggest Lena stay over a bit longer. Ty mentioned adoption and that did not go the best, Lena immediately put all of her defences out, and rejected the offer, literally flying out of the window, breaking it in the process.
Violet and Webby found her two days later in the amphitheatre and Vi returned her the sweater she forgot at her place. Lena apologized to Vi for breaking the window and told her she would repay it somehow but Violet told her that it doesn't matter and that she and her dads meant every word they said. Lena is a bit taken aback, not knowing what to do with the support she is being shown and then Webby, the first person Lena ever felt comfortable enough to be open with, said that she thinks it's a good idea to give it a try.
Violet took Lena to her place, she apologized for breaking the window and Ty and Indy said that they are sorry if they were too forward that, if she is not comfortable with being an official part of the family, she can still stay over as much as she wants because they don't want her sleeping in an old amphitheatre. Lena is overwhelmed again but, surprising herself more than anyone, instead of fleeing, she hugs both men and Violet and thanks to them, accepting the offer. The idea that these two not only did not want to chase her away after she snapped at them and broke their window but actually wanted her around, offered her a place to stay, a home, did not fully compute with he yet. But it felt nice. It felt right.
A few weeks later she shyly approached them and very nervously, barely able to force herself to look them in the eye because she still feared rejection, she asked if the adoption offer still stands. And Ty and Indy tell her, in no uncertain terms that the offer stands and will always stand.
Sometime later, with a few faked legal documents, quite a bit of string-pulling by Scrooge, and quite a bit of hugs and tears of happiness, Lena becomes Lena Wisteria Sabrewing. Yes, she took her name because she already saw the Sabrewings fully as a family and was very grateful to them and wanted to do it as a not-so-small gesture of trust because every Sabrewing has a shade of purple for their name, so why wouldn't she?
It is only a few days after the paperwork is all signed, that she calls ty and Indy dads. Cue more tears and hugs.

yes im alive
I blame my newfound obsession with delkit on @dellyduck.
ooo
Dewey and Huey were on the stage, diplomas in hand. Now they were waiting for their youngest brother, smiling widely. They had finally done it. Finished high school. Another chapter of their lives finally closed.
From the audience, Della watched Louie accept his high school diploma from their principal's hand, and all she could do was close her eyes and think.
8 years.
That's how long it had been when she had stepped foot on Earth. How long it had been since she first reconnected with her 3 sons. How long it had been since she first reunited with her twin brother.
Yet, Della never felt quite complete.
She was on good terms with her family, even people who didn't happen to be related to her; specifically the kids. She had helped them through their awkward stages, through their ups and downs. And she didn't stop there: when Gosalyn came out as bisexual, Della was surprisingly the one who was there for her. When she found out those scars on Louie's arm weren't from a rose bush, she stuck by him. When Webby painfully struggled through Beakley's untimely death on a S.H.U.S.H mission, Della took the young woman under her wing.
She had done all of these.
So why did she feel this way?
Her heart panged against her chest. Oh, she knew exactly why.
Kit Cloudkicker.
Throughout her journey of becoming a mother, Della always seemed to forget that in the end, she was a woman. She always forgot that she was allowed to shy away from the mom role and play the girlfriend role. But whenever she did, guilt wracked her mind: she had already missed out on 10 years of her family's lives. She didn't want to spend even a nanosecond worrying about herself.
But he had always managed to find a way to make her forget that she had ties to her family. Being with him made her feel like a teenager again. However, she wouldn't let herself get too attached. She couldn't. What if something happened to her again? What if something happened so she wouldn't be able to see her sons again? She couldn't spend a second wasting her time on this pilot: even if he made her feel like the most amazing person on the planet. Even if he made her extremely weak in the knees. Even if running her fingers through his messy chocolate locks provided her with euphoria like no other. Even if—oh God, who was she kidding?
She was head over heels for the pilot.
Della opened her eyes in time to see her boys exiting the stage, and she smiled.
ooo
The room Scrooge had provided Della with included a balcony. That night found Della up on the said balcony, staring up at the moon. As usual, she was wondering how Penumbra was doing:
Eventually, Selene had enough of Lunaris' damaged rocket acting as the moon, so she had pulled some strings, and swapped the rocket for the actual moon. Now that their home was back, the Moonlanders had gone back home, but always visited during the summer. Penny claimed that it was solely for business related reasons between the Earth and Moon, but Della had spent 10 years with the woman. She knew Penumbra went out of her way to see her. Now that Lunaris was out of the picture, she was General Penumbra, and was now in charge of the Moonlanders. Della knew she was a good leader, and unlike her nasty predecessor, she didn't keep her people in the dark about things going on outside of their own planet. Della found herself grateful for her friend's actions: it was much easier having conversations with the Moonlander when they weren't complete airheads.
"It's beautiful, right?" a smooth voice said behind her.
Della should've been frightened, but anyone could succumb to that deep, charismatic voice. She calmly turned around, and he smiled down at her.
"What are you doing here, Little Britches?"
He smirked at the nickname she had given him way back in flight school and looked offended. "What? I can't see my favourite girl anymore?"
She smiled a bit. "No, no. You can't come see her this late."
He laughed. "Feisty."
She looped her arms around his neck, standing on her tippy-toes to beat their height difference. "I'm not going to change, Cloudkicker."
His eyes darkened as he linked his own arms around her waist. "Don't you ever think about doing that." He planted a small kiss on her forehead, and she let out a grave sigh. He frowned at her reaction. "Was the kiss not good?"
She giggled, but ultimately, her smile died down. "It was great. I'm just… I'm so confused. About everything. About us."
A cool breeze swept through the air, and Della shivered. Kit was quick to shake off his pilot's jacket, leaving him in a dark green sweater. He draped the jacket over her shoulders. Della giggled at how large it was on her, he was quite literally triple her size. She sat down, her back against the balcony door, and she beckoned for him to join her. Della leaned her head against his shoulder, and let out another sigh.
"What's so confusing?" he questioned.
"It's me, Kit. My own feelings. I mean, I spent a decade on the moon. I missed out on so much of their lives," she spoke, and Kit knew she was talking about Huey, Dewey, and Louie. "And when I spend time with you, I feel guilty."
He frowned. "Della, we both know you love those kids to the moon and back. But, you do know that you're allowed to take breaks from being a mom, right?"
The female pilot scowled. "Kit, I did that for 10 years!" she suddenly shouted, angry with herself. "I can never take back anything! Being a mom is much more of a priority than being your girl!"
He brushed a strand of her from her face and looked into her eyes. "I understand, Della," he said softly. "But hear me out. Are you just going to spend the next 2 years dedicating your life to playing mom? You've already been doing it for the 8 you've been home."
She groaned. "What choice do I have?"
They locked eyes, and Kit surged forward, capturing her lips in a searing kiss. She was quick to respond and allowed him to pull her onto his lap. Their kiss deepened, and she let loose a small moan into his mouth.
When they pulled apart, both were panting breathlessly.
She clenched her jaw, firmly placing her hands on his chest. "T-this is what I'm torn on. The way you make me feel. I've never been this torn between a decision before! Even when I stepped foot onto the Spear, I didn't think twice, even though I had 3 kids on the way. But with you… it's making my heart rip into two. One side of it wants to remain a mother, the other wants to be with you."
"Balancing them isn't an option?" he questioned, gripping her waist.
"It is," she agreed. "But I would feel guilty all the time. I can't make you wait another 2 years for me, Kit. It's not fair."
He sighed. "I get it. But, Della, I would wait a hundred years for you."
She chuckled. "We're in our forties. Yet, my kids' love life is more stable than mine. Kit, I can't make you wait. When Dewey and I stumbled upon you all those years ago, I've been keeping you at arm's length. I can't keep doing that."
"You don't know me, then."
She trembled. "What?"
He smiled sadly. "If you don't think I'll wait another two years, then you're insane. With you, Della, I can't even tell I'm 44 years old."
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she buried her face into his chest. He laughed, and enveloped her small figure in his arms. The hug soon turned into a kiss, and Kit blushed as Della grabbed his dorky blue hat, tossing it over her shoulder. She stood up and opened the balcony doors that led to her bedroom. She pushed him onto her mattress, and shrugged off his pilot's jacket, leaving her in her short nightgown. Kit pulled his dark green sweater over his head, and pulled Della on top of him.
"We're a mess," he reminded her with a chuckle, and she giggled.
She smirked, running her nails up and down his bare chest. "I know. But I wouldn't change what we have for the world."
ooo
The next morning found the pilot on her bed alone. Beside her was a green sticky note:
Morning sweetie,
Had an early flight today. Will see u tonight
Love,
Kit❤
Della smiled to herself and placed the note inside of the drawer beside her bed. She lied there for a moment, feeling content about their night together. He always knew how to make her completely slacken and relax. She kicked the covers off of her, and grabbed her bathrobe. Once she entered the bathroom, she recoiled at her nasty reflection.
"Oh my!" she hissed.
Her hair was ratted and teased up in the back, like she had been rolling on it. She blushed, and reached behind and attempted to smooth the tangled rat's nest. After a quick shower, Della headed downstairs to find Huey sitting at the table, immersed in his JWG. She smiled: like herself, he was an early bird.
"Hi, baby," Della chirped, placing a kiss on his cheek.
He smiled, though it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Hey, Mom."
Della noticed his tone and grabbed a bowl for some cereal. "What's wrong? Long night?"
"Something like that," he murmured.
Della smiled knowingly. "I know spending the night at your girlfriend's is—"
Huey blushed, and his arms flailed around defensively. "No, no! Mom, nothing like that happened… last night," he added in a much quieter tone.
"I heard that," she smirked.
He smiled, his face still bright red. "I… Violet and I actually went out for some late-night frozen yogurt, but we spent the night here. And… I was getting up to use the bathroom last night, and the window was open. I heard some snippets from your conversation."
Della nearly dropped the bowl, her eyes wide. Of all conversations, he had heard this one. She swallowed thickly. "I… you weren't supposed to hear that, Huey."
"Well, I did," he said pointedly. "Do you actually feel that way? About dating? About branching out to the other aspects of your life? Because of the guilt, you feel for leaving us for 10 years?"
Della faltered. "Huey, it's more complicated than that… but yes."
He got up, and Della found herself shrinking under his intense scrutiny, her gaze casting towards the floor. He and his siblings had all grown to be taller than her, and she was frustrated at how small she felt in the situation: both literally and figuratively.
He set his hands on her shoulders. "Mom, look at me."
Della averted her eyes from the floor, and gazed up at her eldest. His expression was soft.
He spoke. "You have done so much for us, including Violet, Gos, Lena, and Webby. Not to mention Donald and Scrooge. All you have had is a good effect on people. Never in my 18 years have I ever seen somebody bothered by your presence… well, maybe Aunt Penny. But she doesn't count."
Della laughed as her eyes welled up with tears.
He continued. "And you deserve every bit of being able to go out of your way, and fill the voids that haven't been filled since your return to Earth: and that includes your love life."
Della choked back a sob, and buried her face into Huey's chest. He wrapped his arms around her comfortingly, and gently placed his chin on top of her head. The duo stayed like that for a moment, before pulling away.
"I really like him," Huey spoke, with a small smile. "Kit, right?"
She nodded, wiping away her tears. "Yes, Kit Cloudkicker. We went to Flight School together, but Dewey and I ran into him a few years back. And… there was just an instant spark."
He grinned. "This is great, Mom!"
She felt a tremendous wave of relief wash over her figure. "I'm glad you're taking it so well. But before I finalize it with him, I need to talk to your brothers and friends first, okay?"
Huey bit back a frown. "You don't need their approval for this, Mom."
Della smiled sadly. "If the roles were reversed. But you kids have never had a father figure aside from your Uncle Donald. Neither have Lena or Webby, and Gosalyn didn't have a dad until Drake adopted her. I need to make sure you guys will be comfortable with it."
He seemed to understand. "That makes sense, Mom."
Della cupped his face, and he leaned down so she wouldn't have to tippy-toe. She beamed, and placed a kiss on Huey's cheek.
"I love you, honey."
"Love you too, Mom."
Huey grabbed his JWG, and was about to head back to bed to reunite with Violet, until Della called him.
"Huey?"
"Yeah?"
"How much of that conversation did you hear?" she asked nervously.
He blushed. "I left at the right time, if that's what you're wondering."
She avoided his gaze. "O-okay!"
He grinned, and left the kitchen.
ooo
That afternoon found Della seating Louie, Dewey, Huey, Webby, Lena, Violet, and Gosalyn down in the TV Room. They all looked confused, considering Della rarely called family meetings.
"Is everything alright, Mom?" Dewey asked, and Huey nudged him to be quiet.
Della took a deep breath. "Actually, everything's not okay, guys, I—"
"Louie was the one who told me to set Gosalyn's pants on fire, if that's what this is all about." Lena said nonchalantly.
Louie glared daggers at his girlfriend, while Della stumbled for words upon learning this sudden news.
"What? I… you know what, I'll deal with that after." Della flustered. "What I actually wanted to talk about was… well, me. And… oh, God, how do I put this?"
The kids all shared a knowing glance.
"You mean Kit?" Dewey guessed.
Della paled. "What?"
Louie wasn't fazed. "Cloudkicker?"
Webby continued. "You went to Flight School with him, and reconnected a few years back? And you've been dating him since?"
"No, no," Lena interrupted. "Not technically dating. They're just fucki—"
"Lena!" Della yelped. "I-I…"
Gosalyn scoffed. "It's more than just screwing around, Lena, she actually cares about him."
"I concur." Violet nodded.
Seven pairs of eyes glanced at her, and Huey was trying his best not to laugh: his mother had clearly underestimated them.
"Lay off, and let her talk, guys." Huey snorted.
Della took a deep breath. "Almost all of you are correct," she spoke, looking pointedly at Lena, who smirked. "Kit and I are… seeing each other. But it's not official yet, and that's what I wanted to talk to you guys about."
Lena was confused. "Us? What's so special about us? It's your life, Della."
"All of you are such an important part of my life," the pilot sighed. "And, I know I haven't been available for some of you."
Huey, Dewey, and Louie exchanged glances.
"And, I just need to make sure that all of you would be okay if I… well, finalize it. Because, I don't want it if it means I'm not making up for the time I missed."
Louie stood up. He slowly made his way towards his mother, and placed his hands on her shoulders.
"You messed up. Big time," her youngest son said honestly, looking right into her dark orbs. "Mom, you never came back solely for us… you don't owe us anything. You've sacrificed so much for us, and it wouldn't be fair for us to not let you love this man… as much as he loves you."
Dewey was next. "He's right, Mom. We love Kit, he's great for you. Don't worry about us."
Dewey and Louie embraced their mother, and Della felt relief like no other wash over her body. The thing she had been fearing the most over the past 8 years, shouldn't have been a thing to fear in the first place.
Lena smiled. "You've been more of a mom to me than any woman in my life. Whatever makes you happy, I support you."
"I second that," Violet piped up.
Dewey and Louie parted ways so Violet and Lena would make her way towards their mother next.
Gosalyn smirked. "I don't have a huge speech, Della. But, I wouldn't stand in your way of being happy. Ever." she said, throwing her arms around Della.
Webby sat on the sofa alone. Della looked at the girl nervously.
"Webby?"
"Can we be alone?"
Della slowly nodded, and the rest of the teens headed outside. Louie shut the TV Room door behind him, and the soft click of the door prompted Webby to speak.
"I know I'm being overdramatic," Webby sighed, running her fingers through her light hair.
Della sat next to her. "You're not being dramatic, sweetie. What's on your mind?"
There was a moment of deliberation before Webby swallowed, and looked at the older woman.
"Della," she croaked. "You've been the closest thing I've had to a mother figure. I-I never had one, or even a dad. It was always just me and my grandmother. T-then she was gone, and you were all I had left. This family was all I had left."
Della was patient, and gently rubbed her back. "I know, honey."
"A-and like Gos said,'' she whispered quietly. "I don't ever want to get in your way of being happy."
Della nodded, enveloping the young woman into a warm hug. "I love you, Webby. So much. I will always be here for you."
Webby blinked a few tears back, and allowed Della to hold her.
ooo
That night, Della was perched on her bed, smiling brightly when she saw Kit's tall figure loom over her.
"What?" he asked, grinning.
Della got on one knee, and brought out a small box. Inside was a candy ring, and Kit tried his best not to chuckle.
"Kit Cloudkicker, will you officially go out with me?" she asked timidly.
He grinned widely, picking her up and twirling her around. "Della Duck, I will go out with you."
That fateful night, it happened to be Dewey using the bathroom. And God, did he wish Huey had closed the window, because now, he had to wash his ears out with lye soap.

Leaving the Nest
Companion piece to The Family We Make (can be read in any order)
Ao3
Granny’s posture is as immaculate as always, but her knuckles grip the pan just a little too tight. To an outsider, she would seem the perfect picture of serenity, but Webby knows the tells that give her away too well.
Of course she does. Granny is Webby’s favorite person in the entire world.
Webby’s family has grown and grown over the last few years, and she wouldn’t trade that for the world. But if it came down to it, Granny is more her family than anyone else. Even the boys. Even Dad.
“Dear, I think we should talk about… the other day,” Granny trails off, awkward and lame. It would be disorienting to see Granny, normally so put-together and articulate, struggling with words. But a couple days ago, Webby saw her chained and captured, crying and beaten, forced to spill her darkest secrets and then knocked out. Manipulated. Nothing Granny does can faze her in quite the same way.
Webby takes a deep breath. “I… I think so too,” she says. “But, honestly, I don’t have anything to say. You’re my Granny.”
Granny’s shoulders slump in relief before she catches herself, her decades of SHUSH training snapping in, and she reorients herself to her ever-present poker face.
“I’m not, you know,” Granny says quietly, her voice full of shame. Webby stiffens, and glances away before Granny can see the tears pooling in her eyes. “I- I stole you from a SHUSH compound. The photos you have of your parents were a lie. Just another lie among many.”
“I don’t care,” Webby snaps, with more anger in her voice than she intended. But as soon as the words are out of her mouth, she realizes that she truly does feel that anger. Not towards Granny herself, but towards the notion that Granny isn’t her grandmother.
“You’re my grandmother,” Webby declares passionately. “I don’t care if you’re not related to me. I don’t care if I’m a clone of Dad. You stole me from a FOWL compound because you cared about me from the moment we met. You gave up your entire life and a career you’d been working towards for decades for me. You raised me. You locked yourself in the mansion to keep me safe. You’re my grandmother.”
“I’m happy to hear that, dear,” Granny says in the softest of whispers. “More than you could ever know.” Webby thinks she hears Granny’s voice catch, but she can’t be certain.
“But I lied to you, even after I promised I wouldn’t,” Granny continues, her tone more subdued. She crosses her hands in her lap, making a controlled effort to smooth them out. “You have every right to be angry with me.”
Webby reaches forward and takes her grandmother’s hand in both of hers. “I do,” she agrees. Granny’s head snaps up and she stares at Webby, eyes wide. Webby shrugs nonchalantly, shoulders loose, emulating Louie’s calculated facade of easy calm without realizing it. “But that’s not the kind of person I am, Granny.”
Webby glances away, pursuing her lips. She can’t bear to watch Granny’s face twist in pain. “I… I am frustrated that you lied to me and broke your promise,” she says slowly, haltingly, choosing her words carefully. She’s walking a thin line, basically a tightrope with no net, of expressing her feelings and not upsetting her Granny. “Just don’t do it again, please.”
Granny’s face softens. “Of course, Webby dear. No more secrets.”
She reaches out to hug Webby, and Webby obliges, but she says stiff. “That’s what you said last time,” Webby mutters into Granny’s shoulder. Her words are almost too soft to be heard, but judging by the way Granny stiffens, she does.
Granny pulls back, her hands still on Webby’s shoulders. She opens her mouth a few times, frantically searching for words, some kind of placating promise that she didn’t already break.
“You’re right. Of course,” Granny acquiesces at last, hanging her head. Strands of grey hair drip out of her bun by the pull of gravity. Webby swallows thickly, bile pooling in her throat. Granny is reacting perfectly, yet all she does is remind Webby of when they were stuck together in a dark FOWL interrogation room, a wall of pain and deception painfully thick between them.
Webby reaches out a small hand to touch Granny’s shoulder. “Granny, please,” she whispers. She’s not sure if Granny understands the true meaning behind her plea in its entirety, but she pulls herself back together nonetheless. For a few minutes, silence hangs between them. It’s not a comfortable silence, but it’s not stifling, either. It’s just… anticipatory.
“I can’t simply promise that I won’t lie to you anymore,” Granny says at last. Her voice is quiet and subdued, but honest and vulnerable. It’s open in a way Granny rarely is. “But I will do better from now on. I’ll prove my sentiments through actions, not empty promises.”
Webby smiles gratefully. It’s not her usual wide, face-splitting grin, but it’s soft and vulnerable, with layers and meaning behind it. “Thanks. I… I want to know things. About SHUSH. Classified things. The parts of my past you could never tell me, and new information, too.”
Granny’s gaze shoots away. “I-I can’t,” she replies immediately, and Webby’s heart drops. It must show in her face, because Granny’s own twists with guilt.
“I- Well- I suppose I did just promise to, didn’t I,” Granny says, half to herself, with a small chuckle. There’s little humor behind it, but it’s fond. “I will do my best, Webbigail. But please understand that there is some SHUSH information that is simply beyond my classification to give you.”
“I understand,” Webby says simply. “But the information you can give me… I want to know, Granny.”
Granny’s fists clench and unclench in her lap. Webby knows how uncomfortable and out of her depth she must feel. She protected Webby with her life for years by hiding these secrets, and it takes time to undo such habits. But she’s trying, and that’s all that Webby cares about.
“Do you remember the day I met the boys?” Webby asks, her voice lighter and more casual than she feels. There’s a pit of fear steadily growing in her stomach, but her voice is blessedly steady.
Granny’s smile is small but fond. “You snuck out,” she replies, a hint of reproach in her voice, but no malice. It’s a wound long since healed, leaving only a soft scar as a reminder that it existed at all. “You ignored my number one rule and left the mansion for the very first time.”
“Yeah, and it was new and scary,” Webby replies lightly, ignoring the jab. “But you let me go, because you knew it was for the best. Because I was growing up.”
“Because Mr. McDuck could keep you safe,” Granny adds pointedly, but she’s smiling, if a bit pained.
“Yeah, and he did! I’m fine, Granny. Besides, I can keep myself safe.”
“Tell that to the you that landed yourself in FOWL headquarters with all your allies captured and no real clue what was in store for you,” Granny quips. “My worst nightmare, come alive right in front of my eyes.”
“I’m sorry,” Webby mutters, dropping her gaze to her feet. “But hey, if you’d told me the truth, maybe I wouldn’t have been so misinformed.”
Granny dips her head. “You make a good point. I concede that one.”
“Anyway, that’s just what this is like,” Webby continues. “It’s a big change. But it’s a necessary one. I’m ready for this, Granny.  You are too. And in time, this’ll feel completely normal, and we’ll have forgotten what it was like to live like we are.”
Granny is silent for a few moments. Webby glances up, nervous, only to find Granny smiling proudly, and wiping a small tear away under her glasses.
“Webby, dear, you are so wise,” she says, her voice thick. Webby’s heart clenches. “Aren’t I the one supposed to give you the deep, heartfelt talks and inspire you, and not the other way around?”
Webby gives her a small smile. “You’ve done it before, Granny. Don’t sell yourself short.”
Granny sniffles rather uncharacteristically. Without warning, she lunges forward and scoops Webby up in a tight hug. “Oh, my dear,” Granny says, her voice choked with tears. “You are just lovely, you know that? How did I ever get so lucky to have you for a granddaughter?”
“Well, it’s partly because of you,” Webby says, smiling into her grandmother’s back. “You raised me.”
Granny nods into Webby’s shoulder. “And it was lovely.”
When Granny finally pulls back, she tugs Webby back to face her, her hands on Webby’s shoulders. “You’re growing up,” she says thickly. “Oh, Webbigail, I am so proud of you.”
Webby beams at her grandmother. “I’m proud of you, too.”
“Oh,” Granny says thickly, and hugs her again.

HEY REMEMBER WHEN I SAID I WOULD WRITE THE CONVERSATION WITH WEBBY AND BEAKLEY WELL HERE IT IS :D (rip my poor math homework i’ll be up all night finishing that ugh)
i wrote this in like,, 45 minutes because i had to get the few sentences i was thinking about down before i forgot them and just,, kept going lmao. rip the webby & lena convo story i’ve been chipping away at that is going absolutely nowhere rn. i’ll get to it
webby and beakley’s relationship is SO important to me. beakley literally gave up everything for webby. it’s so obvious how much beakley cares about her, but also,,, they had this entire episode about trusting each other and then beakley promises not to keep any more secrets from webby and she has absolutely zero intention of keeping it. that always gets me. especially since webby is one of the most trusting characters of all time and would never doubt her grandmother of all people after they made up. i’m not salting on beakley or anything, but it’s very interesting to think about going forward since beakley will obviously try to do better, especially once the major factor keeping her quiet is gone, but she really doesn’t have a leg to stand on since she broke her promise. definitely an interesting concept we should talk about more
we talk a lot about how scrooge never apologized to webby after telling her she wasn’t family in last crash of the sunchaser and she immediately forgave him. scrooge def should’ve apologized but it’s interesting to note that webby basically can’t and won’t hold a grudge for the life of her, at least when it comes to the people she cares about (she definitely can with goldie DJDFKLSLDF). it’s sweet. i imagine beakley feels incredibly guilty after the finale but webby’s just ready to move on and to enter a new chapter of their lives where they’re completely honest and open with each other. i don’t imagine she’s not upset at the deception, but she’s not mad.
also man that interrogation scene? that probably traumatized webby. man. what a shitty situation to be in i can’t even imagine.
beakley and webby’s relationship will always mean the world to me, especially with the added context of their backstory. beakley literally saw one (1) baby and was like i’m about to end this man’s (me) whole career LMAO. it’s incredible.

Some doodles based on a 7 hour conversation @dellyduck and I had lmao
Tumblr media
I forgot who pointed out that my drawing of Danielle "DJ" looked like a Christmas tree so we just ran wild with it lmao. We especially had fun throwing Daisy in the mix and everyone's reaction to Webby dressing up DJ.
After the "Christmas tree incident" Goldie's nickname for DJ is Christmas Tree, tree for short. By now Goldie has become more comfortable with family so she secretly dresses up DJ in clothing she's kept from the 1890s.
Also I hc the older Goldie gets and closer to actually dying, the more boney she becomes like her Carl Barks counterpart
Beakley of course is VERY protective of very well her first and only great grandchild. Especially considering how close DJ becomes with Goldie. However as Beakley gets older and after Scrooge and Goldie die, she becomes the "not my responsibility/problem" grandparent in Delly's words lol. She's the "I would never say that the candy webby hides is on the top shelf and the combination totally isn't 1659 4827 5849."
Also that was my first time drawing Beakley so it was pretty awkward lmao
We talked about way more but those deserve their own comics lol

can u tell us abt the au? 👀
Yes! Also this was going to be a brief summary but the more I wrote the more invested I got and so I fully fleshed out the AU for both you and me. It’s sooooo long so if you end up not reading it, that’s cool. Anyway,
You know those AUs where when Della disappears, her eggs are split between the cousins and when the kids find out about each other they try to Parent Trap everyone? So it’s a little bit of a spin off of those AUs.
Basically, the eggs are split, yes with the basic Louie/Gladstone, Huey/Fethry, and Dewey/Donald concept. Anyway, they grow up with their respective parents, and accept their very simple lives. Except one day, out of curiosity, Huey asks Fethry about his parents, and Fethry goes on to talk about Della and everything else. He talks about Donald and Scrooge and Gladstone, and how one day Della just “disappeared,” but he never once mentions Dewey and Louie. So, interested to learn exactly what had happened, Huey begins to write letters to Scrooge McDuck, hoping that one day he’ll respond and want to meet up and reconnect. Unfortunately, that never happens, so he ends up giving up and going back to being comfortable in his little home with Fethry.
Back at the manor, Webby is still invested in McDuck history and heritage. She still makes her boards and all that, and this time, she gets her hands on Della Duck’s old journal way earlier. She looks up to Della and starts to wonder what happened to her and why Scrooge ever stopped adventuring. She tries to grab Scrooge’s attention from afar but it’s fruitless, and her little adventure is at a dead end. Until! Until one day, she’s getting the mail at Beakley’s request, and she finds letter from someone cities away from Duckburg. They’re addressed to Scrooge, and while Webby knows when to keep her hands to herself, she knows that Scrooge throws out any mail that’s not work related. So she hides the letter and later on takes it to her room. She reads it and is immediately interested in everything Huey Duck has to say and offer.
And she does this with every letter that comes after, each one a request to meet Scrooge. But the more that come, the less formal they are, and the more desperate they sound. The very first one was a formal request to meet Scrooge to talk about some personal business, but later on they begin to give more detail. Huey is Della Duck’s son, he lives with his Uncle Fethry and his grandmother on their farm. He also mentions Gladstone and Donald, and how he hopes the five of them can meet up and reconnect.
Anyway, point is, Webby decides that this is her moment to shine. She’s going to step out of the shadows and bring together Scrooge McDuck’s family and then he will finally notice her! Also, this is an adventure, and it will be long and there will be ups and downs, but just like Della Duck, Webby’s not going to let anything get in her way! I know, she could just ask Beakley for help but Beakley would get upset over the hidden mail and simply say that Webby’s adventure is just her digging into something she shouldn’t. So Webby packs her things and sneaks out of the manor, setting out on her very first adventure. She was trained to defend herself and detect any forms of harm, so she’s ready! (Don’t worry, she left Beakley a note saying she’ll be safe and back in no time.)
She wanders all around Duckburg in search of Donald Duck, who lives there according to Huey. This is how she meets Lena and becomes an unexpected accomplice to shoplifting. Basically, she’s walking around when she’s knocked back by someone, but when she gets up, she only sees the back of the girl as she runs around the corner. As she starts picking up her things, she realizes that the girl forgot something, so she hurries and runs after her in order to return it. She ends up at the abandoned amphitheater, where she confronts Lena, and Lena, who is still paranoid about a passing cop, takes Webby inside and explains what happens. Webby is shocked but let’s it slide because she thinks Lena’s cool and wow! she runs fast!
So Lena asks Webby what she’s doing wandering around Duckburg and Webby shows her the letters and explains her grand plan. Lena takes interest immediately because she still works for Magica and helping Webby out would mean the possible chance of meeting Scrooge McDuck so “you realize travelling alone is dangerous, right? You’re going to need some help.” And obviously Webby let’s her tag along!
They stay at the amphitheater for the night and the next day they set out to find Donald Duck. They figure out where he lives and go to knock on the door. Instead they’re greeted by a young duck who’s bored out of his mind because his babysitter won’t let him do anything. Anyway they meet Dewey, is what happens, and once Webby explains everything to him, he does the same thing Webby did. He packs his things and leaves Donald a note (this happens later that night, not with the babysitter bc that would’ve been yikes lol). He joins them, and then they set off to the city of Macaw, where rumor has it that Gladstone Gander is making some big wins.
The same thing happens, they meet Louie, who agrees to tag along and they set off to find Huey, the reason for this whole adventure. Dewey and Louie bond the entire time going on about “we’re related to the Scrooge McDuck?!” and “where have you been all my life?!” Webby and Lena also bond some more, and they become best friends, and eventually, Lena begins to feel like this life is so prefect and so good. She’s having fun, meeting new people, going to new places, and it’s such a wonderful thing, she would’ve forgotten about Magica if Magica would only stop bugging her about her mission for five minutes.
It’s when they’re on their way to Grandma Duck’s farm, that things start falling apart and they start having doubts. Magica starts to get frustrated and begins causing trouble, which ends up with Lena confessing everything. Despite this, Webby believes in her and she convinces Dewey and Louie to let her stay. They’re hesitant, but they allow it and they help Lena keep Magica at bay. I mean, she can’t do too much while she’s a shadow. And this part isn’t too thought out atm but it will be later.
And so, they end up making it to the farm and finally, they have a warm place to sleep without having to worry. Grandma Duck and everyone else is very welcoming and they provide more information than they had initially agreed to give. The kids spend a few days at the farm and Huey, Dewey, and Louie bond. Webby and Lena talk about what’s going to happen when they get back to Duckburg and Lena begins to doubt how much she’s actually wanted around by the others. So the night before the kids and Fethry are supposed to head out, she leaves.
They boys try to brush it off as “she was going to go her own way when we got back to Duckburg anyway, so does it really matter?” “Of course it does! Lena is my- our friend! We have to find her!” In the end, she’s outvoted by the boys and Fethry, who does try to get on her side but it was a losing fight, and they return to Duckburg, immediately going to Donald. They invite Gladstone over, and once they’re all together, they all go visit Scrooge and it’s one big reunion. And tears and all of that. Of course it doesn’t end there! Webby goes off on her own again to find Lena.
And this is where I leave off because this is too long and I got carried away (also that last part hasn’t been thought out). I am so sorry. If you read all of that, bless you, I love you. Also I think this might be my most thought out AU so far?

Ok, I didn't do one of these for the last ep, but I should have so now I'm doing this episode because, YES!
Webby in her Webby destroyer gear, off to a nice start
PENNY!! BIG EXCITEMENT!
Ah so she's making a ship to go back to the moon...aw. Penny don't leave 🥺
Loving that caterpillar fact, very morbid
Oh no, Glomgold.
Oh geeze, it's all gone to his head. I'm not shocked, just disappointed.
I do not like Glomgold.
Oh, that's a disaster waiting to happen
Thanks, Dewey, for the confirmation
Also not surprised by Dewey's thing, but not disappointed. That's peak pettyness
In case anyone was wondering, the intro still bops. No one will tell me different.
O.O DELLA CALLED PENNY, HONEY! MY DELLNUMBRA HEART! AH!
Aw, poor Launchpad
Aw no, she's constantly on guard. Like waiting for the other shoe to drop 🥺...
'Small Della'
GIBBOUS AND ZENITH! THE BEST MOONLANDERS! (I feel so bad, I had to look up Zenith's name☹️)
And I am loving how they are stuck in 90's asthetic because of Della's stories
THEY GOT SNAP BRACELETS AND A DOG! IM SO HAPPY FOR THEM!
No, Gibbous, Glomgold doesn't deserve you. You could have such a better employer
Oof, even the moonlanders are alienating Penumbra...
HOW DARE GLOM THROW OWLSON UNDER THE BUS LIKE THAT! HE DIDN'T DESERVE HER EITHER!
Her helmet is her safety blanket
Ooh, bad timing on the fly's part
Oh geeze Launchpad is so crushed 🥺
A BIRD!? TF?
No, Launchpad, Dewey is 11. Do not have the kids drive!
NO WAIT STAY IN THE CAR!
(I'm making this too long by pausing every 5 seconds aren't I)
LAUNCHPAD, NO!
YES, YOU SHOULD HAVE JUST KEPT DRIVING THE LIMO!
Penny, no. Now I'm just tired...
Yes, thank you Gibbous, you called the safety inspector, good
Ooh, human statue! Those people are amazing
Ooh, human statue got yeeted...
... he's probably fine...
Hehehe, penny arcade 😊
Ooh, Launchpad's back!
...smart move Launchpad, I would've backed away too
...mood.
Ok, first I was confused by Penny's confusion, but then I realized what she was confused about. Needless to say, I laughed an abnormal amount. This is the most this topic is going to be brought up and, Penny, we're confused too
... she's upset about home...
Oh my god, Launchpad. I love you, you deserve the world.
She can't protect her people and is having an identity crisis.
The Eyes! You can't say no to those Eyes!
*gasp!* Parallels!!!
(also I just realized, when was the last time we saw Beakley??)
HAMBURGER; AN AMERICAN AND GERMAN DELIGHT!!
Wait, what has Penumbra been eating if-aaand she hasn't eaten anything since she got here...that...that's not healthy, honey, please take care of yourself more after this...
Yes! She likes ice cream!
Oh no, she's going to go haywire if she gets a brain free-there it is....
Thank you, safety inspector, finally someone with a brain...
I love how Launchpad just fukin Froze
Ah betrayal is a strong feeling.
Ah great, the kids are on a death trap
😑ooooff course it's a canon to destroy the manor. I don't know what I was expecting.
She came, she did her job, and she left. I respect that.
'Tinny Dellas' Penny, I love you. (Also doesn't Storkules do the same thing, but with Don?)
Gibbous, no. You don't have to if you don't want to.
Oh no, Soft Look! Penny gave Launchpad a Soft Look and it was nice! My dellnumbra and launchwing(I forget if that's their actual name, I'll edit it later then(DRAKEPAD, THAT'S WHAT IT IS!!!)) heart: OH NO THEIR CUTE!!!
Oh, I love Gibbous, he just wants to have and help other moonlanders have earth fun
Same, Launchpad, same. (Once again, Soft Look! Oh no! It's adorable!)
Oh. Gymnastics Stronk...girls hot...stronk girls hot...
Ah, her voice, she's so happy and she's found herself and loves what's happening right now!
Dewey is great this episode
Gibbous is too sweet
Who Could stay mad at Gibbous?! He's to nice!
Shy Launchpad is a cute Launchpad
*visible shock and amazement* Penny confirm gay!? Gay penny rights!? *With tears in my eyes* Yes!
AND, see how Launchpad respectfully said, 'oh ok' and dropped his crush
And just like Launchpad, I dropped that ship like a sack of potatoes. My dellnumbra and launchwing heart: oh thank Frank...
AND so a great friendship is born! Two dumb jocks with hearts of gold
*gasp!* Jenkins is to be Dewey's rival...what a twist!
Della gets very worried about her kids, take notes Della haters, she's new (also when Della starts stroking Dewey's hair? *Chef's kiss with tears in my eyes because damn if I don't want that level of casual love in my life*(I might be just a little touch starved))
'which is probably never, so-' TRU
I'm already loving this friendship of strong loving dumbos. I love them platonically.
AND PENNY HAS HER HELMET OFF! SHE'S NO LONGER CONSTANTLY ON GUARD! SHE FEELS SAFE WITH HER NEW FAMILY AND MAN THIS FAMILY JUST KEEPS GETTING BIGGER AND MORE COMPLICATED I LOVE IT!
Just casually carries her future GF and son...not hot buch energy at all...
I FORGOT TO MENTION!!! THE MUSIC!! WHEN SHE'S BEING HOT ON THE WHEEL! AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT THINKS IT SOUNDS A LITTLE LIKE THE MOON THEME WHICH HAS BEEN ASTABLISHED AS DELLA'S THEME?!
You can see Lunarus' ship in the last shot of the moon and I don't like that feeling of foreboding, DuckTales Team!
