And this is why I hate Tom Taylor today!Why does he write Bruce to be such a dumb-dumb.

First, the villain is being telegraphed so obviously to the reader, and yet the world's greatest detective doesn't see it.

Second, it hurts me that Bruce's plan is, once again, to "wing it and hope for the best" - I get that sex is nice, but shouldn't Batman have a better contingency in place to stop people from connecting his scars to his extracurricular activities?

Third, and this isn't super clear, but I dislike the implication that Bruce is still so shook up about his parents death that he is somewhat discombobulated by regular ol' street robberies with guns, and that regular ol' street robbers with guns are able to get the drop on him! And that he doesn't notice that this chick is a karate master???

Finally, whyyyy for any of this? Bruce is teaching Damian violence here - are we supposed to celebrate this "gentle parenting"? What's the point of his hastily introduced romantic interest other than to make Bruce look dumb and make me mad? Babs' snark, enjoyable at the beginning, is now getting to be too on the nose.

Like, if you're going to make a new love interest for Batman, why not make someone we care about and are invested in, rather than have Bruce fall AGAIN really quickly for some probably villain type? Uuuuuuugh

This is the final nail in the coffin for me for DC Editorial permitting BatCat, clearly that ship is dead and buried in the mainline.

If you actually read city of Bane, you’ll find that Bruce did not choose anyone over anything. Bruce (nor Selina) did not know Alfred was in trouble until it was too late. They were not just on vacation. Bruce was recovering from a lost battle and training. The entire batfam, save for Dick, was still in Gotham.

Bruce later apologizes to Damian for making him feel like he had to save Alfred alone, but at no point was it Bruce’s actual plan to make his kids fight Bane while he was away, I reiterate, BRUCE AND SELINA DON’T FIND OUT ABOUT ALFRED UNTIL THEY COME BACK

Bruce Wayne always knew letting Jason go was the right thing to do — especially when his boy seemed to carry pain on his shoulders and the past in his smile. But like any father, he asked for one small thing: a single text message every year, just to let him know he was alive. Letting Jason go had been one of the hardest things Bruce had ever done. But he was a father — and even the worst of them make sacrifices.

opinion: Basically, where Bruce lets his son — aka Jason Todd — go and live his life. I’ve always believed Jason deserves something better in some way, and this is what came out of it. Something painful but with a beautiful ending. I’m seriously thinking about writing a part two, but I’m still debating it — maybe.

Bruce Wayne hallucinates Jason sometimes. It happens in his worst moments — when fear toxin rushes through his veins, when battle overwhelms his senses, when the weight of the world feels too heavy on his shoulders. opinion: All I can say is that I got inspired by a Turkish drama (Yargi), where a character references his daughter in a horrible moment, and I thought to myself: Why not do that with Bruce? And this came out of it. I just like writing Bruce suffering — he deserves it.

A world without heroes. Without vigilantes. It's a normal world. Or maybe the Batfamily had fallen into another universe—one where vigilantes, powers, and mutants were never real, where there were no secret identities, only family, goals, and dreams. Or perhaps, for just a fleeting moment, Bruce Wayne could dream of a normal life.

opinion: It came from things I saw and because I wanted something new. It’s the first thing I’m starting to write. But I love it because I’m having so much fun thinking about certain things. Obviously, we all want to see Dick Grayson as a world gymnastics champion.

Dick Grayson always liked the idea of being an older brother, but the downsides of it were something no one ever told him about. Or simply, a moment where Dick Grayson tries to have a date with Kory Anders without his younger brothers bothering him — and, of course, he clearly loses that battle. Or just a scene of Dick acting like the older brother while also trying to have a date with Kory at the same time.

opinion: A universe where I'll soon be posting more because I really like the idea of Bruce adopting everyone when they were younger. I love DickKory.

Where the Batfamily never existed. There was never a Robin. Batman lets himself be consumed by his inner beasts.

opnion: There’s not much to say — I just wanted something dark to write about, and this came out. Read at your own risk because this Batman has no humanity, like the vampires in TVD.

just a little curious about the people absolutely crashing out over the Bruce dating Joe chills daughter storyline (which I dislike cause I think it’s lazy and just bad storytelling but like… this doesn’t even scratch top 50 questionable love interests within the batfamily or even just Bruce) I wonder how do you guys feel about batcat in The Batman (2022)?

Bruce pursues a relationship with Selina Kyle and then finds out her father Carmine Falcone hired Chill to murder the Waynes and then stole their money for his own personal gain…. So technically his role is even worse than the Joe chill in the comics cause he actually premeditated their murders and directly benefitted from it, while the comic version of Joe Chill was an average criminal who just wanted some cash.

I’m just wondering why you think one is scandalous and the worst thing to happen to comics (it’s really not) while the other is okay and cutesy. Do you think it would be logical for Bruce to start condemning Selina for her father’s actions? She did know who Falcone was to her, even if she might not have known what he did to the Waynes, so it’s almost the same situation. (Completely ignoring Selinas and Scarlett’s morals/actions here cause it’s not the point I’m trying to make)

I understand most people have probably not even read the issues with Scarlett and are going off shock value from popular fandom posts (considering this has been going on for months and last months issue was not her first appearance, so why the uproar now?) but like most of us have probably watched The Batman (2022) and I have not seen discourse about that. I’m just curious as to what makes those two situations different (other than execution cause I’ll be the first person to call out Tom Taylor’s mediocre writing)

as someone who usually does not care for "children of x" characters, i genuinely appreciate helena wayne so much because i personally think she's a "character of x/y" character done very well, she's the daughter of two of the most iconic characters ever and yet helena wayne emerged as her own character and set the foundation for the huntress mantle in dc chronologically, plus she is a pretty significant part of jsa, infinity inc, and earth 2 in general.

she is not a helena bertinelli rip off or a batcat mary sue nepo baby oc. she's a well written character who is her own person and her reason for becoming huntress is always the fact that she wanted to be her own heroine and step out of her parents' shadows. she toes the line perfectly; she does not dismiss batcat, batcat are usually not miswritten as abusive or toxic because of her (or at least, batcat isn't hated because of helena wayne; if anything, i personally started to enjoy batcat because of helena wayne, she makes me want to root for them; her existence usually is proof of a batcat that is relatively stable and at peace), and she isn't reliant on her parents to succeed and she also still remains grateful and respectful to them and their legacy. many of her stories are her own arcs and she proves herself as a competent crime-fighter in many ways, and she's a wonderful personality too. she was created with love and care, and most importantly, she serves cunt. thank you for coming to my ted talk

Idk, maybe fans of her can create a compelling argument for her, but like what is the point of Helena Wayne? Just to be the BatCat kid? Like what does she accomplish that Helena Bertinelli doesn't?

Also if you want the novelty of Batman having a daughter, Cass is right there.

Her not being biological doesn't make much difference imo.
