lock in. walk the tightrope
#lock in!#i thinkthe most important lesson ive learned in my life thus far has to be let people be wrong#its both comforting and so annoying at the same time somehow like how that work dawg#also different eyes see different things and its very truthful that you could never get what is truly the whole picture#think of it this way: theres a black hole of goop and its a swirling oily portal of possibilities#you reach your hand in there and pull a monstrocity out. though this portal is strange in how it works so#theres nothing really like. either you or the monstrocity can do about it#to me comma this monstrocity is very warped and wrong#scary and painted with pictures of what i think it is so the goop has just become more clouded#especially because turns out this goop's reality and own existence actually fades in and out of obscurity depending on your awareness#of the goop. hey follow along here its important. okay so basically your memories are a damping agent on the solution#of the goop. it actually makes it even more opaque and adds more monstrocity than there was even before. so then#this thing can only ONLY be worsened over time is what ive come to conclude about the goop#because regardless of who is who on both sides of the portal (its usually inversed)#the portal is inherently like. slop..like its not good because that portal essencially eats the bad#and the distortions. do you get ehat i mean. and it mixes very deeply into the solution and therefore well its definitely#an ingredient in a potion that i wouldnt use unless im persuing some extremely dark and wicked magick#because truly it becomes a dark comma opaque pool of hatred and generalizations and old memories (that do rot and become tarnished)#its actually quite the shocking revalation for me... i see i see the data is inherently corrupted when#old rotting data when not frequently refreshed with new updated truthful factually accurate (if goodfaithfully corrected) info leads to...#well what is basicllaaly the evils. so the data becomes actually pretty worthless#and actuaally! ive determined as well that the souls of those whom you once knew are no longer them after you lose that contact via portal#ur mind actually creates something of a soul-mimickry... almost like a resentment (very emotion filled) hoodoo doll being possessed#by something even more sinister and insincere almost a horrible mockery of what u once knew... honestly quite frightening!#id say my lesson gathered from this is... while it wont truly effect anything tangible#reaching into the goop portal is pretty ill advised... unupdated garbage. dl latest files for best experience!#your memories do indeed have a shelf life... as a witch its important to replenish them with fresh new ones every 2-3 mo.#oh also the amount of shit that can just be made up and fabricated about someone else once they arent there to defend themselves is#quite staggering... also i think the point of it being a portal and the fact that there are 2 sides to the distortion should be stressed#as in i am not exempt from being completely wrong and bad faith and namecalling and fabricating and lying and misremembering etc

Art. Can. Die.
This is my battle cry in the face of the silent extinguishing of an entire generation of artists by AI.
And you know what? We can't let that happen. It's not about fighting the future, it's about shaping it on our terms. If you think this is worth fighting for, please share this post. Let's make this debate go viral - because we need to take action NOW.
Remember that even in the darkest of times, creativity always finds a way.
To unleash our true potential, we need first to dive deep into our darkest fears.
So let's do this together:
By the end of 2025, most traditional artist jobs will be gone, replaced by a handful of AI-augmented art directors. Right now, around 5 out of 6 concept art jobs are being eliminated, and it's even more brutal for illustrators. This isn't speculation: it's happening right now, in real-time, across studios worldwide.
At this point, dogmatic thinking is our worst enemy. If we want to survive the AI tsunami of 2025, we need to prepare for a brutal cyberpunk reality that isn’t waiting for permission to arrive. This isn't sci-fi or catastrophism. This is a clear-eyed recognition of the exponential impact AI will have on society, hitting a hockey stick inflection point around April-May this year. By July, February will already feel like a decade ago. This also means that we have a narrow window to adapt, to evolve, and to build something new.
Let me make five predictions for the end of 2025 to nail this out:
Every major film company will have its first 100% AI-generated blockbuster in production or on screen.
Next-gen smartphones will run GPT-4o-level reasoning AI locally.
The first full AI game engine will generate infinite, custom-made worlds tailored to individual profiles and desires.
Unique art objects will reach industrial scale: entire production chains will mass-produce one-of-a-kind pieces. Uniqueness will be the new mass market.
Synthetic AI-generated data will exceed the sum total of all epistemic data (true knowledge) created by humanity throughout recorded history. We will be drowning in a sea of artificial ‘truths’.
For us artists, this means a stark choice: adapt to real-world craftsmanship or high-level creative thinking roles, because mid-level art skills will be replaced by cheaper, AI-augmented computing power.
But this is not the end. This is just another challenge to tackle.
Many will say we need legal solutions. They're not wrong, but they're missing the bigger picture: Do you think China, Pakistan, or North Korea will suddenly play nice with Western copyright laws? Will a "legal" dataset somehow magically protect our jobs? And most crucially, what happens when AI becomes just another tool of control?
Here's the thing - boycotting AI feels right, I get it. But it sounds like punks refusing to learn power chords because guitars are electrified by corporations. The systemic shift at stake doesn't care if we stay "pure", it will only change if we hack it.
Now, the empowerment part: artists have always been hackers of narratives.
This is what we do best: we break into the symbolic fabric of the world, weaving meaning from signs, emotions, and ideas. We've always taken tools never meant for art and turned them into instruments of creativity. We've always found ways to carve out meaning in systems designed to erase it.
This isn't just about survival. This is about hacking the future itself.
We, artists, are the pirates of the collective imaginary. It’s time to set sail and raise the black flag.
I don't come with a ready-made solution.
I don't come with a FOR or AGAINST. That would be like being against the wood axe because it can crush skulls.
I come with a battle cry: let’s flood the internet with debate, creative thinking, and unconventional wisdom. Let’s dream impossible futures. Let’s build stories of resilience - where humanity remains free from the technological guardianship of AI or synthetic superintelligence. Let’s hack the very fabric of what is deemed ‘possible’. And let’s do it together.
It is time to fight back.
Let us be the HumaNet.
Let’s show tech enthusiasts, engineers, and investors that we are not just assets, but the neurons of the most powerful superintelligence ever created: the artist community.
Let's outsmart the machine.
Stéphane Wootha Richard
P.S: This isn't just a message to read and forget. This is a memetic payload that needs to spread.
Send this to every artist in your network.
Copy/paste the full text anywhere you can.
Spread it across your social channels.
Start conversations in your creative communities.
No social platform? Great! That's exactly why this needs to spread through every possible channel, official and underground.
Let's flood the datasphere with our collective debate.

been examining the decluttering and interior design internet cuz I suck at organization and I did not know how many humans were just going "PAPER RECEIPTS?! JUST USE YOUR PHONE!" i'm sorry declutterfluencers. i've decided I don't fuck with you. "use your phone" is not an organizational strategy. it's a data subletting strategy and we are not renting ongoing server time because your aesthetic demands labeled clear HDPE bins that receipts don't look as nice in. ohkay. You've not solved an organizing problem. you have walled solving the problem completely off to an outsourced service because any actual onsite solution was deemed too unfashionable. by sad beige HDPE bin millennials with apartments that smell like offgassing dollar tree plastic and overheated labelmaker. You're not sharing a keen mind for your task with the world you're just really aggressively re-enforcing that people can't know we weren't extruded in stackable convertable modular sets matched by colorway and frankly its kind of not giving attractive design? It's kinda giving backroom at the watchmakers but for every task you've decided can still live with you in your house of bins that safely communicates to other hdpe bin millennials that yes your culture is also ikea so the polycule could match if you saddled up for the rent cuff and they agreed to the square foot cube covered fabric bin mounting rails in use for storage of personal items. your shit looks like the airport in the fifth element and it's affecting your quality of life ohkay. ask someone to slap you.

I had been thinking about this for TWIG but seducing your husband George as he is busy in his home office looking over race data
I LOVE THIS LOL it works so well for this universe x
The first half of the season had not been going to plan. Being at the bottom end of the front runners was the worst case scenario for George who, a few races in and housing a wimpy handful of points, was doing everything in his power to rectify the issues.
You lived only an hour drive from Brackley which meant during the week off from racing, it felt like your husband was working a standard 9-5: driving into the Mercedes HQ almost daily to work with the team and figure out what was going wrong. Evenings were filled with family dinner and putting the kids to bed and, more often than not, George would retire to his office to sit and stew behind his laptop until he nearly fell asleep on top of it.
Frankly, he needed a bit of an intervention.
The kids had been put to bed an hour ago, the house down to a peaceful lull. Well, peaceful except for the stress radiating from the double doors of the home office. You lingered in the open doorway in your robe, leaning a shoulder against the frame, arms crossed, just watching. George was laser focused on his laptop screen, eyebrows furrowed in intense concentration, fingers clicking and scrolling and typing here and there. He didn't even notice you.
You cleared your throat. He glanced up for a split second before looking back to his laptop.
"Hey," he acknowledged flatly.
"Love," you spoke softly, sauntering farther into the room, "give yourself some grace...take a night off."
"Can't. The car is absolute shiet in the low speed...like it's genuinely atrocious. These graphs are just..." he gestured to the screen with a look that was nothing short of genuinely offended and he let out an exasperated huff.
"You can't solve all the questions of the universe in one night, my love. Come unwind for a bit." you offered, lingering on the other side of his desk.
He didn't answer.
"George," you sighed and walked around the side of his desk to set a hand between his shoulder blades, feeling the tension in his muscles as he hunched over his laptop. You set both hands on his broad shoulders and gave them a little squeeze and rub, instantly feeling him ease a little. You continued, "You're going into Brackley again first thing. Can't you save this for then? You're driving yourself mad."
"I have to be missing something," George muttered under his breath as if half of him wasn't entirely listening to you.
You kept your hands massaging his shoulders and you glanced at the screen with him, graphs and charts and race analysis taking up every inch of it. A vast majority of it you weren't even sure what you were looking at. Your hands drifted from his shoulders and down his chest, rubbing his pecs over his t-shirt and you leaned in to kiss under his ear.
"Take a break from this," you purred your gentle request, "Please, my love. Just for tonight."
George sighed and habitually leaned back into your touch and the back of his desk chair, his head tilting slightly as his eyes lingered on his screen as if looking at it from an angle would help with a solution. You nipped at his earlobe. He subconsciously shivered.
"Come on," you rubbed your hands over his chest until your fingers found the peaks of his nipples and you gave them a little tweak, singing softly against the shell of his ear, "I can help you get rid of some of that tension and stress."
You could hear him smile at your pitch and he lolled his head back against his chair so he was looking up at you with a playful, "Are you trying to seduce me out of doing my work?"
"Perhaps," you tugged at the fabric belt on your robe to let the sides fall open a little, revealing only a sliver of the rich blue babydoll lingerie set hidden beneath.
George's eyes dropped to your body at the move, his eyebrows going from furrowed from stress to raised from intrigue in a split second. His hand lifted to open your robe some more but you stepped back and out of his reach.
"Ah, ah," you tutted, "you only get this upstairs. So you have to make your decision."
You sent a pointed glance to his laptop before sauntering back around his desk and towards the open doors of the home office. You had barely stepped out into the hallway when you heard the sound of his laptop closing and his chair rolling back against the floor.
Then, his velvety voice followed you to the stairs with a playfully unimpressed and yet impatient, "You cheeky little minx."

Ch. 37 of Lies We Tell Ourselves is up!
𐡸.:𐫱:.𐡷
chapter teaser
𐡸.:𐫱:.𐡷
chapter excerpt
Chapter 37: Mortality Murmurs
The necessary advancement in their rune work is… macabre.
This isn’t surprising to Viktor. What does is how eagerly he embraces it.
A few days after their first trial, Jayce approaches him looking as if he carries a brewing storm in his gut. Viktor has taken to doing much of his reading in the small, brick-walled garden behind Jayce’s townhouse. It’s pleasantly warm, thanks to the pair of sun apple trees cultivated from Ionia. This day, like the others, have been more restful than Viktor would like. He’d prefer to be back at work, but he’s trying to be gracious. Dozing feels like laziness, but, as Jayce continually points out, his fatigue is data in and of itself, and he should simply observe it in its natural course.
Jayce, Sky, and Thomas have all been kind enough to bring him books from the academy’s library. He’s sent them running from stack to stack, requesting a book on biology here, dendrochronology there, and, memorably, a collection of cadaver drawings from a post-mortem medical study done with victims of the same kind of pneumoconiosis that afflicts him.
He’s been keeping a private log of observations in a small notebook tucked between pages of his technical research—just notes, really. They’re the product of many hours spent self-assessing, scanning over himself from limb to limb, feeling each flutter of his heart, each cough, each mouthful of blood.
The entries are meticulous, clinically detached. Overall, the log only reiterates what they already know, leading him to draw the same conclusions as Sky, Thomas, and Jayce did after they reviewed his readouts after the treatment. For a first trial on a body as ill as his, the fact that they’ve made progress at all is truly remarkable—but it’s not enough. Still, ever dedicated and ceaseless in his diligence, he records the aches, turns, and progress of his physical body in words that may outlast him.
He watches as Jayce approaches from beyond the garden gate. Jayce’s posture shouts of unease, his eyes downcast.
“You seem deep in your thoughts,” Viktor mutters as he cranes his neck to look at the other man from where he lies, stomach down, on the blanket. His head is pillowed on his arms, which, in turn, sandwich a book on vascular abnormalities between him and the ground.
Dappled sunlight filters through the canopy of tree branches that frame Jayce where he stands. Viktor reaches a lazy hand up towards his partner to beckon him down.
Jayce sighs and takes Viktor’s hand, sinking down beside him. “I think I have our solution for your next trial.”
“A triumph then.” Viktor rolls onto his side, shifting so one of Jayce’s calves pillows his neck, his head cradled in his partner’s lap. “But you seem a little… eh, what do you say… ‘down in the mouth’? About it?”
Despite Jayce’s melancholy, Viktor catches a tiny twitch at the corner of his lips, rewarding the bid for levity. Invoking Jayce’s fondness for his habit of picking up colloquialisms from Jayce and their assistants is predictably sufficient.
“Well, I don’t like the solution,” Jayce begrudges, the smile fading. Viktor gives a soothing hum, pressing a brief kiss to Jayce’s thigh through the fabric of his pants.
They both do this, he’s noticed, reaching out to touch one another in innocuous ways, especially when seeking comfort or to give it. Usually, they favour motion, letting their touch meander across aimless paths along one another’s bodies. Sometimes, though, it’s something like this—a fleeting moment of contact to convey reassurance, desire, or presence. It’s like they’re still getting to know one another through the language of touch, finding synonyms for love.
“Thomas worked out that the excess energy was a result of insufficient channelling. The healing you need is too challenging in relation to the rune sequences, so, like systems of high pressure seeking lower pressure, the arcane went elsewhere.”
Viktor listens, reaching his free hand overhead to tap along the buttons of Jayce’s vest. They’re tiny brass things made with an imprint of the austere ‘T’ of Jayce’s house. Jayce watches him with a bemused expression, and Viktor glances up at his upside-down face before sharing a smile that feels conspiratorial. “I am listening. Please, continue.”
Despite Jayce’s reciprocal smile (he seems to find Viktor’s nonchalance both unbelievable and charming), he sighs. “We’ll need to make the ease of flowing through the channels greater than the difficulty of the healing required. And… Sky proposed that one way to do this is to… strengthen the biological connection. But we couldn’t calculate a blood-to-ink ratio that does what we need without bleeding you dry, so, I think… we’ll need to cut the runes directly into your skin.”
Jayce seems to expect horror, but Viktor blinks up at him with simple expectation before replying, “Well, then. What are we waiting for?”
A strange thrill courses through him—not at the prospect of pain, but at true progression. A step closer to breathing without the weight crushing his lungs. A step toward life. His catalogue of symptoms has grown long enough; pain is hardly a steep price to pay.

oh god ok I just caught up on this and WOW

so, thought #1: yeah these are awful lol
thought #2: I don't think AI is going to create a uniquely bad atmosphere for fraud in academic articles, because we've already established the incentives and conditions for fraud to be a substantial problem in the first place
most people heard about the foundational Alzheimer's research that was found to be fabricated, and that was probably the most high profile case in recent years
institutions basically lock PI's in an eternal grant-writing grind where they have to produce interesting, relevant, and novel research continually in order for them and everyone under them to keep their jobs. it de-incentivizes any type of research that seeks to verify or reproduce previous studies (journals generally won't publish this) and if you end up NOT finding something ground-breaking, then it's seen as a scientitic failure rather than a naturally possible outcome of investigating the world, in which things sometimes aren't interesting
this obviously lays incentives for fudging data in the whole field of science itself, but there's been high amount of fraud coming from institutions in china which is why I was disappointed but not especially surprised by this
I'm prefacing this by saying that scientists based in china have been asking for solutions to this and rightly pointing the blame to the uniquely weird government funding scheme as the cause. I'm not going to get too much into it, but there have been issues with fake paper mills for years, and "citation circles" (iirc you can get a cash kickback for how many times you're cited) of people agreeing to cite each other's irrelevant papers.
it's gotten to the point where, and this is really bad, PI's over here will ignore papers that come from china-based institutions under the presumption that the data is unreliable.
excerpt from the article:
For example, in 2017, Tumor Biology published by Springer retracted 107 papers, all of which are by Chinese authors, because authors provided made-up contact information of potential reviewers, and the review processes ended up being manipulated by third-party agencies that make profit from “faking” the review processes (Chen, 2017). Also, certain journals have in recent years witnessed a concentration of works by authors from China. We suspect that this is because of closely knit networks of editors, reviewers and authors, which results in superficial peer-review, easy acceptance, and deliberate self-citing from the same journals to boost impact factors (see Guglielmi, 2019 for similar patterns of behaviors occurring to Italian scientists).
re: the last sentence, it does happen to a lesser degree elsewhere, which is why this is a field-wide problem
the chinese government has I think in recent years realized that the way everything is structured is de-legitimizing their research, and there have been huge efforts to crack down on fraud and basically place sanctions on these scientists. but that's sort of just handling the symptoms and not the cause - I'm not sure how far along they are on rectifying the index by which they ascribe merit and funding potential to PI's (we do this in other ways too) but yeah, the whole system of academia itself has to change.

If you’ve ever walked through Tel Aviv, you’ve probably noticed — dogs everywhere!
On sidewalks, in cafés, at the beach, on the bus.
And not just tolerated — welcomed
It’s one of the most dog-friendly places in the world, with more dogs per capita than almost anywhere else.
In Israel, your dog isn’t just “allowed” — they’re part of the social fabric.
There are dog fountains on city streets, off-leash parks in every neighborhood, entire beaches reserved for dogs to run free, and bakeries that sell special dog treats.
Tel Aviv even celebrates an annual Dog Day with events and vendors in the heart of the city.
But here's the thing:
This isn’t just about loving dogs. It’s about how Israel thinks.
A small country with big challenges, Israel has always had to be nimble, innovative, and solutions-oriented — from agriculture to defense to medicine to… dog culture.
When you live in a place where entrepreneurship is baked into the national identity, even dog ownership becomes a space for innovation.
You’ll find Israeli startups creating smart collars, GPS tracking apps, techy water dispensers, and even dog food tailored through data.
But more than that — and this is the part I love — there’s a deep understanding that quality of life matters.
For people, and for the animals we live with.
The same spirit that created drip irrigation, Iron Dome, and Waze is also behind the dog-friendly bus policy or the fact that so many rental apartments welcome pets with open arms.
So if you’re wondering what a culture of innovation looks like — look down.
At the happy dog trotting beside its owner.
Because in Israel, even how we treat our dogs tells a bigger story.

China Claims New Memory Chip is 10,000× Faster than Today’s Tech
From William Huo:
Scientists claim a new memory chip that’s 10,000× faster than today’s tech, with near-zero power and 100-year retention. If true, this isn’t just a tech breakthrough—it’s a global power play. This new memory tech isn’t just faster, it could make your RAM and SSD look like floppy disks. Nanosecond speeds 100+ year data retention 10M+ rewrite cycles. All with near-zero power. Conventional flash memory is bulky, slow, and energy-hungry. This new memory traps electrons in an atomic layer using quantum tunneling. It reads/writes in billionths of a second—with no need for refresh. In simple terms: Faster than DRAM More durable than SSDs Uses a fraction of the power This could kill the RAM vs storage divide. One chip does both. It's a working prototype from Shanghai tech University. The researchers claim over 10 million cycles of stable performance—and data retention for a century. China has always lagged in memory chips, blocked from advanced NAND and DRAM tech by U.S. sanctions. This leapfrogs all that. No Micron, no Samsung, no SK Hynix needed. These 2D materials can be fabricated on legacy fabs. China doesn’t need ASML’s EUV. They can build this on 28nm lines with domestic tools. Expect responses: Export bans on deposition tools. Lawsuits over IP. U.S. agencies calling it “dual-use” military tech When you can store battlefield AI models in nanoseconds, it's not just commercial. Zoom out: this is part of China’s broader post-silicon push. Graphene batteries Photonic chips Neuro morphic computing They’re not trying to copy Intel. They’re trying to skip the entire Western roadmap. If this memory scales, it could power: Instant-on phones AI edge devices with zero latency Memory-in-logic chips for quantum/space/military apps We’re not just talking speed, we’re talking about architectural collapse.
This all assumes China is telling the truth, which it often does not. Further, some argue this wouldn't really affect AI since solutions to AI bottlenecking have already been designed by 4DS Memory’s ReRAM.
