Daryl Dixon x female reader
The group is out scavenging in an abandoned school
Glenn : “Has anyone seen Y/N and Dar-“
*opens the door to a classroom*
Daryl pulls his pants up, standing in between Y/N legs as he tries to cover her as good as possible.
Daryl: “would ya mind-“
Glenn, closes the door. *yells very loud* “THEYRE NOT IN HERE”
Maggie, right behind him, laughing : “are they?-“
Glenn, eyes wide open “yes.”

I absolutely love writing Daryl as being captivated, even discreetly so, with Carol. Just…with the desire to give her everything, worship her. And she’s just as enthralled with him but neither of them realize the extent of the other’s devotion.
Idiots. Both of them. I love it.

It is utterly baffling that a showrunner of a show as big as this one has the bandwidth to continue saying tone deaf comments that do nothing but alienate the audience.
We're less than two weeks away from the premiere. Making comments that prove that you have no intention to research the characters you're still writing for is a wild choice.
This is embarrassing.
Melissa McBride and Norman Reedus deserve better. And so do we.

TWD Caryl - A Tree Fell in the Forest
I just finished watching TWD and searching a bunch tonne of stuff on this here Tumblr which I'm brand new to, and I have thoughts.
I am strangely drawn to imperfection, its beauty, and TWD sits in this place, hovering near almost faultlessness (characters), to being nearly unwatchable (where did the characters go), sometimes within the same episode. It's utterly fascinating! I am hooked! A little late, yes, but isn't that the story of my life.
I honestly have not felt this way about characters since the late 90's, when my 17 year old Willoz shipping heart waited desolately for Oz to return, and ... we all know how that turned out. Ah, shipping. I literally had not shipped a single ship since that day. Until I watched The Same Boat. TWD has some pretty special characters. Though I love Bojack and Ozark and Travis Fimmel's Ragnar, I did not feel compelled to examine the inner workings of those beautiful humans/humanoids beyond the show.
There I was, happily not shipping a ship, apart from my own relationship with my own beloved, which I ship ecstatically every day. (This is the kind of ramble I can indulge in when I think readership will be non-existent). Got another ship in!
Anyway, my point is that a Caryl romance is clearly canon, even though the relationship isn't (yet?).
I didn't actually fall in love with Carol until she listened to my urgent pleas to take care of the Wolves at the start of season 6. I should point out that I have ADHD so I didn't always have the dopamine? Emotional regulation? Focus? To listen to all of your speeches, Rick, or to watch entire episodes devoted to new characters, Tara, Magna, Alpha. So, apparently, I missed entire stuff.
Even after "C'mere", I just thought Carol and Daryl had this extremely unique soulmate bond, like that of Ragnar and Athelstan in Vikings. It is an extremely rare and unique portrayal of a transcendental devotion that cannot be likened to any other kind of relationship, because there are no other relationships like it. The bind encompasses every aspect of love and support needed to utterly fulfull and complete someone.
At this point I had stumbled onto Tumblr because I realised I needed pro-Carol recaps from Carylers, as they seemed to best understand and grasp this very special character. I went back and rewatched from the beginning and I was shocked. I rewatched (and noticed for the first time) the flirting, the hesitation, the banter, the unspoken LOOKS, oh so many. Drew the links from Consumed ("I kinda like it." "Stop.") Watched interviews, waded through the mass of gaslighting that abounds, which seems to wrap itself around every subtle, telling moment.
Why? Because it's fascinating. A mystery. Pretending something that happened, did not? A tree fell in the forest and some people did not hear it. Well I didn't hear it either! But I went back and found the tree. That tree is on the damn ground.
Carol and Daryl are so in love with each other it hurts. Their romance exists. Therefore, I'm gonna ship it.

Melissa: She's on her way to her friend. For several reasons. (Ahhhhhh)
Norman: This relationship they have, she can sense when he's in trouble...'he should have been here by now'...he can sense the same about her too...they finish each other's sentences.
David (?) They have a cosmic connection. (Norman later reiterates this - calls it a tangible cosmic connection) Daryl feels responsible for this new family, whilst unaware tbag Carol leaves in search of her family and her home, which is personnified by Daryl.
(Melissa does say more, but it's interspersed with mainly what Norman says. They almost finish each other's thoughts.)
Here's the video to see for yourself...

We've been here so many times and here we are again. I'm sick of voicing my disappointment, disgust etc to @amc that obviously couldn't care less about the core audience they have, and want to strain for other audience groups.
One of the main survival skills for me as a caryler has been (for a long time) the ability to ignore as much of the gaslighting and entertainment media trolling as I can and just focus on the show itself. S11 was painful with bad pacing, less than stellar writing and Carol's diminished role, and frankly, underuse to the point of ridiculousness. Especially considering that besides Daryl she was the only one left from season one). DDS1 gave me new characters I didn't give a fig about and sadly, a lot of the time Daryl was one of them. (Who was that guy?)
I don't even know what to say anymore. I can't fathom the unbelievably bad judgement and business sense AMC is showing over and over again,
by letting Zabel (etc) "reinvent" their money maker, fan favorite breakout character into an entirely different person, changing what made him a groundbreaking male character, while reducing Carol to a third wheel with her own soulmate.
Not with my money and viewership.

Things to consider when you're speaking up about 'The Book of Carol.'
I'm noticing some discourse about how to discuss your concerns related to "The Book of Carol" without contributing to the show's marketing strategy. So, for FWIW, here are my two cents.
If you've been wondering about how to share your concerns, comments, and fears regarding the show without feeding into the engagement, here are some key points to consider:
Refrain from engaging directly with AMC's official accounts. Check out this post for some context. Make your own posts about why you're still watching the show. If you're watching for Melissa McBride, specify that. If you're leaving, tell them why you're leaving, what isn't working for you, and what needs to change for you to stay. If you want to refer to something they've mentioned on their official accounts, don't retweet/quote-retweet. Take a snapshot of their tweet and attach it to your post instead.
Tag #TheBookOfCarol #TWDCaryl in your posts (add spaces between words in your tags if you're posting on Tumblr) because these are most likely tracked. As far as I know, posts with two tags see the most engagement on Twitter, so keep that in mind.
Try to time/queue your content for Sundays when new episodes air. The tags will most likely be tracked during this time to monitor engagement. If you can't make posts of your own, boost the posts of others echoing your feelings.
As that-left-turn said in the post I linked above, it's very possible they don't have a strategist handling or overseeing their social media accounts, so their goal will likely be tracking their KPIs (key performance indicators). "All publicity is good publicity" is a good thing to remember here.
Engagement = Investment
It doesn't matter how frustrated you are in the comments/ QRTs because they meet their goals as long as the engagement on their accounts is steady. TPTB will assume they don't need to "write for the fans" because you're invested regardless of what happens.
Continue to make posts separately on your platform and tag them or @ them. Refusing to engage with their official accounts is a strong sign that their strategy needs to be fixed, prompting them to check the tags to dig deeper into the issue.
Please remember that no matter how often the term "TWD family" is used — it's a business. Their goal is to get ROI (return on investment) on the product they've spent a ton of money on. If they cared about the audience being hurt by their story choices, they wouldn't have made the choices in the first place. It's possible someone convinced them that this narrative would either bring more viewers (or the viewers they wanted) and that Carylers would watch no matter what — as long as they have some emotional beats to hold on to.
Caryl, Carol, and Daryl have a loyal audience that has, in many cases, stuck by these characters for over a decade. That's hard to come by, and it guarantees viewership and merchandise sales. These characters deserve respect. Their story deserves respect. You deserve respect. They wouldn't have spent over a year marketing to us with '#TWDCaryl', if they didn't know that our viewership is crucial for the success of a Carol & Daryl show.
I said this on @9lives2mics before and I'll repeat it — an audience can go on without a show, but a show cannot go on without an audience.
It's more important than ever to make your voice heard. So, if you feel called to speak up about your concerns, now is the time. Your reasons for tuning in (or out) are your reasons, so share whatever you're comfortable sharing. At the end of the day, you're the paying customer. If you don't feel fulfilled with the product you've invested your time, money, and energy in, you're entitled to withdraw your investment and share your concerns with the studio that marketed the product to you for over a year. Will it have a positive effect? I don't know. But what I do know is that if the viewership is fluctuating and tanking then it's a clear sign that their current leadership + marketing strategy isn't working. And they will look for their audience's feedback to mould the future of the franchise. Feedback helps create a shift in the trajectory, and if you're part of the core audience, your feedback is extremely valuable.
Please remember that your feelings are valid, no matter what they are. Do what works best for you, and remember to be kind to yourself and others. ❤️
Lastly, I'd like to say — Melissa McBride deserves equal billing, an inclusive title, and, most importantly, leadership that will show Carol the care and respect she deserves in the story.

- you’re his number #1 priority
- “I’d die for you” being yours and his “i love you”
