Curtis & Co || Darrel "Darry" Curtis
Summary: Request - I was thinking maybe Darry & fem reader have been together for a long time, all the boys consider them to be the Big Brother/Sister/Mom & Dad of the gang. But Darry saved up enough money to propose to his girl. So he gets the gang involved in the proposal too.
A/N: Thank you for the request @fanboyswhore9 !!! I loved writing this and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
Pairing: Darrel "Darry" Curtis x Female Reader
Word Count: 4.3k +
TW: General The Outsiders
The Curtis house was never quiet. Not really. Even when Ponyboy was nose deep in a book, lost in some far-off world, the house still buzzed with life. Soda was always running his mouth, cracking jokes, and filling the space with laughter. While Steve and Two-Bit bickered over whatever nonsense they had cooked up that day. And there was Darry. He was always steady, always carrying the weight of it all. His shoulders squared under the responsibility of keeping a family together.
And then there was you.
You had been around since the beginning. Long before everything fell apart. You had been Darry’s best friend back when he was just a golden boy with big dreams before life had asked too much of him too soon. You had seen the way his parents adored him. How they looked at him like he was bound for something great. You had seen him at his best, laughing and reckless, a kid who thought the world had endless possibilities. And you had seen him at his worst, standing in the wreckage of his life after his parents were gone, exhausted and terribly scared but too damn proud to admit it.
You never left. Not when it got hard. Not when Darry had to trade in his college dreams for double shifts and sleepless nights. Somewhere along the way you started picking up the pieces alongside him. You helped him raise Ponyboy. Kept Soda from spiraling. Always made sure there was always food on the table even when it meant stretching meals too thin. You weren’t just Darry’s best friend anymore. You were his family. Their family.
And the gang noticed.
At first it started as a joke. Something Steve tossed out casually when you made him an extra sandwich one afternoon. “Thanks, Mom,” he said with a smirk before stuffing his face. You had rolled your eyes at the time thinking nothing of it.
But then Two-Bit picked it up and that was when the real trouble started. “Hey, Dar, your wife says I gotta do the dishes,” he’d called out one night, grinning as he leaned against the counter. “You really gonna let her boss me around like that?”
Darry while scrubbing the kitchen table down had barely looked up. “If she says to do the dishes you’ll do the damn dishes, Keith.”
That only made Two-Bit cackle. “Alright, alright.” He threw his hands up and got to work.
Even Ponyboy who was usually quiet and reserved had given Darry a rare, knowing smirk one day after dinner. “She’s got more authority in this house than you do Darry.”
And that was when Soda decided to take it personally. “Dar,” he sighed dramatically one night, kicking his feet up on the table. “You do realize you already got yourself a wife, right?”
Darry shot him a look. “Soda.”
“No, no,” Soda continued, waving a hand. “I’m just stating the obvious. You act like a married couple. You argue like a married couple. Hell, you even cook dinner together like a married couple.”
Ponyboy looked up from his book with an innocent expression. “You should just ask her out already. You basically act married anyway.” Johnny nodding along with him.
Darry frowned, like the idea had never truly crossed his mind before. He scoffed, shaking his head. “I—I don’t—”
“You do,” Soda cut in.
“You absolutely do,” Steve added from the couch.
And then, as if this entire ordeal wasn’t already a nightmare for Darry, Dallas Winston strolled into the room smirking like he had been waiting for this moment his entire life. “Oh, hell, finally,” Dally drawled, plopping down on the arm of the couch while flicking his lighter open and shut. “Took y’all long enough to say it. I was about ready to spell it out in the damn sky.”
Darry groaned, rubbing his temples. “Not you, too.”
Dally snorted, taking a drag from his cigarette. “You’re real slow, man. Real slow. I mean, damn. You’re playing house over here, takin’ care of Pony, makin’ sure Soda don’t drink himself into a coma and then there’s your girl, who’s been stuck to your hip since before you had a damn mortgage on your shoulders. You’re tellin’ me you just realized it?”
Darry’s scowl deepened, but the tips of his ears went pink.
Dally exhaled a cloud of smoke before shaking his head. “Pathetic. You oughta be ashamed.”
Soda cracked up while Steve pounded the table. “Oh man, Dallas is calling you pathetic. That’s gotta sting.”
“Shut up,” Darry grumbled but at this point it didn’t matter. Because maybe, just maybe, they were right.
Maybe when you leaned against the counter laughing at something Pony said Darry had a hard time looking away. Maybe when you patched him up after a rough shift, scolding him for pushing himself too hard, he liked hearing the worry in your voice. Maybe when he watched you sitting on the porch with Ponyboy quietly listening to him talk about nothing and everything, something in his chest ached in a way he didn’t want to name. Soda was right. Dally was right. The whole damn gang was right. Darry had been in love with you for years. He had just been too damn stubborn to admit it.
It took him three days to work up the nerve to do anything about it.
He didn’t plan anything grand. That wasn’t your style. He just asked if you wanted to take a walk one night after dinner. His hands were shoved in his pockets. His shoulders tense in a way that had nothing to do with work. You didn’t question it but instead just fell into step beside him. The two of you walking quietly under the flickering streetlights with the night air cool against your skin.
Darry had never been one for fancy words, never been one to spill his feelings easily. But he had spent enough time swallowing them down. He cleared his throat before glancing over at you. “I… uh… I think I’ve been in love with you for a long time.” He blurted out.
You stopped walking and looked at him with wide eyes. “…Think?” You asked as he took you completely off guard with that one.
His ears burned red. “Fine,” he admitted. “I know.”
You let the silence stretch, dragging it out just to make him sweat a little longer, enjoying the rare sight of Darrel Curtis looking unsure of himself. Then after what felt like forever to him you grinned, grabbed the front of his shirt, and pulled him in close. “Took you long enough, Curtis.”
The gang lost their ever-loving minds when they found out.
Soda whooped so loudly he nearly fell off the porch, clutching his stomach as he gasped for breath. Two-Bit declared a national holiday and immediately started preparing for an imaginary wedding. Steve groaned, already complaining about how he was going to have to witness “gross couple behavior” for the rest of his life.
Dally, of course, took full credit. “I mean if it weren’t for me he’d still be sittin’ there lookin’ confused.”
Pony just rolled his eyes and muttered, “God help us all.”
And Johnny?
Johnny just smiled, shaking his head, because he had seen it coming long before Darry ever did.
Two years had passed since Darry finally pulled his head out of the sand and asked you to be his girl. Two years of late-night talks on the porch, of shared laughter over burned breakfasts, of feeling light in a way neither of you had since the world had come crashing down. Loving Darry wasn’t always easy. He carried too much weight on his shoulders, worried too much, worked himself too hard. But you wouldn’t trade a second of it. Because the truth was you had always been his, long before he ever admitted it.
But time hadn’t stopped moving, hadn’t let you stay frozen in those golden moments forever. Life had changed. It had hardened in ways you never could have predicted. Johnny was gone. Dallas, too. The grief still clung to the gang, settling into the spaces they once filled, but it didn’t break you. Not completely anyway. You had all learned how to carry it. How to live with the loss without letting it consume you.
And somehow through it all Darry never let go of you.
You weren’t just his best friend anymore. You weren’t just his girl. You were his. And he was yours. The one he reached for at the end of a long day. The one he trusted to see the parts of him he hid from everyone else. And if there was one thing Darry Curtis knew with absolute certainty it was that he didn’t want to spend another day without you.
Which was exactly why he had a ring stashed away in a place even Two-Bit couldn’t find.
Darry Curtis was going to propose.
And unfortunately for him that meant getting the gang involved.
He knew it was a mistake. Knew it the second he opened his mouth. But Darry wasn’t the kind of guy who did things halfway and if he was going to ask you to marry him he was going to make it something special. Nothing too grand because you’d hate that. Always had. But something special for the two of you.
Which is why, for better or worse, he found himself sitting in the Curtis living room watching as Soda, Pony, Two-Bit, and Steve absolutely butchered what was supposed to be a simple proposal plan.
“Alright, hear me out,” Two-Bit said, leaning forward with a gleam in his eye that immediately made Darry regret every life choice that led to this moment. “What if we set off fireworks?”
Pony sighed, already rubbing his temples. “Two-Bit, you can’t even light a match properly.”
“Okay, fine, but what about—”
Soda cut in with a grin. “What if we get a horse?” Darry groaned. This was going to be hell.
Darry leaned back in his chair rubbing a hand down his face as he listened to the absolute train wreck unfolding around him. He wasn’t sure why he thought this would be a good idea. He knew these idiots had no sense of subtlety or reason. Here he was regretting everything as Steve pushed forward with what had to be the worst romantic advice he had ever heard.
"Listen, Dar," Steve started, crossing his arms like he was some expert on the subject. "The key to a solid proposal is shock value."
Darry raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. "Shock value?"
Steve nodded like this was the most obvious thing in the world. "Yeah, man. You gotta catch her off guard! I’m talkin’ like bam! Just drop the question mid-conversation. Like, when she least expects it. Keeps things exciting."
Soda nearly fell out of his seat laughing. "Mid-conversation, Steve? What, you think Darry’s gonna be talkin’ about groceries and just throw in a ‘hey, wanna get hitched’ in between tomatoes and bread?"
Steve shrugged. "I’m just saying, girls love surprises."
"But she doesn’t," Pony muttered, shaking his head. Steve just shot him a glare and shrugged.
"Now me," Two-Bit cut in, pointing to himself, "I got class. Darry, you should definitely propose at the drive-in."
Darry sighed regretting this entire conversation. "The drive-in."
Two-Bit grinned. "Yeah! During a horror movie." Silence filled the room.
Pony just stared at him, looking almost pained. "During a horror movie?"
"Yeah, picture it!" Two-Bit leaned forward, waving his hands dramatically. "You wait till the scariest part like when the monster’s about to pop out then you drop down on one knee! She’ll be so freaked out she won’t even think, she’ll just say yes!"
Steve snorted. "Or scream and knee him in the face."
Soda wiped tears from his eyes finding far too much enjoyment for Darry’s liking. "Oh man, I wanna see that."
Darry groaned. "There is no way I’m proposing during a damn horror movie."
Two-Bit just shrugged. "Your loss. Could’ve been legendary."
Pony, ever the poet, sighed dramatically while slipping his notebook open. "You should do something meaningful, Darry. Something with depth. A real moment between you two."
"Not happening," Darry shot back immediately.
"You didn’t even let me finish!" Pony huffed at his eldest brother.
"Because I already know whatever you’re about to say is gonna be too complicated."
"It’s not complicated! I was just thinking—"
"No poems, Pony." Darry sat back in the couch, reeling.
"But—"
"No."
Pony scowled while muttering under his breath about how nobody in this family appreciated literature. Meanwhile, Soda was having the time of his life watching his usually cool, collected big brother flounder like a fish out of water. He was positively thriving in Darry’s misery.
"Damn, Dar," Soda chuckled, slapping a hand on his back. "You’re really sweatin’ this, huh?"
Darry shot him a glare. "Of course, I’m sweatin’ this, Soda. I’m trying to propose to the woman I love."
Soda just grinned. "I know and it’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen."
Darry sighed again, realizing that this was the moment he had officially lost control of the situation. But after what felt like hours of absolute nonsense, Darry had finally managed to wrangle the gang into something resembling a plan. It took a lot of patience, a lot of vetoing bad ideas (he was never letting Two-Bit near fireworks, and Steve was absolutely banned from giving further input), but somehow, against all odds, they had pulled it together.
The final decision? A simple, quiet dinner at the Curtis house. Nothing too fancy, nothing too showy, just something that felt right. The gang would help set it up, make sure everything was perfect, and then he’d finally ask the question that had been sitting on his tongue for months.
That was the plan.
Now all he had to do was actually go through with it.
Which, as he stood in the middle of the miraculously clean Curtis kitchen and adjusting the collar of his shirt for the hundredth time, suddenly felt a lot harder than he expected. His hands felt clammy, his stomach twisted up in knots, and for the first time in a long time Darry Curtis felt nervous.
Soda noticed immediately. "Would ya quit fidgeting?" his younger brother teased, nudging him with his elbow. "You look fine. Better than fine, actually. You sure you’re not the one gettin’ proposed to?"
Darry shot him a glare. "Not helping, Soda."
Soda just grinned, utterly unbothered. "What, you nervous?"
"No," Darry lied, adjusting his sleeves.
Steve snorted from across the room. "Yeah, okay, sure. You’ve been checking your watch every thirty seconds, Dar. If you get any more worked up you’re gonna pass out before she even walks through the door."
Darry groaned, running a hand through his hair. "I hate you guys."
Two-Bit clapped him on the shoulder, looking way too proud of himself. "You’ll thank us when she says yes, big guy. I mean if she says yes—"
Steve smirked. "Oh yeah, she could say no."
Soda gasped dramatically. "Oh man, what if she laughs?"
"Y’all are the worst," Darry muttered, shaking his head.
Ponyboy took pity on him. "Relax, Darry. She loves you. You could probably propose with a burger and a milkshake, and she’d still say yes."
Darry exhaled his shoulders dropping slightly. "Yeah. Yeah, I know."
But even as he said it the nerves didn’t fade. Not completely. Because this was it. The moment he was going to ask you to spend the rest of your life with him. And then as if fate had been waiting for just the right second to make his heart damn near stop, there was a soft knock at the door.
Soda grinned. "Showtime."
The second the knock sounded at the door. Darry felt his stomach drop. He had faced down Socs in street fights, worked brutal shifts in the heat of summer, taken on the responsibility of raising two younger brothers before he even hit his twenties. But nothing had ever made his hands sweat like this.
Soda, grinning way too much, clapped him on the back. “Alright tough guy, don’t choke.”
Darry shot him a glare before jerking his thumb toward the back door. “All of you, out. Now.”
Steve scoffed. “Aw, c’mon, we can’t even watch?”
“No.”
Two-Bit groaned dramatically but he was already halfway to the back door, grabbing a roll off the table as he went. “Fine, fine, we’ll leave you to your romantic moment. But if you pass out, I’m comin’ back to revive you.”
Pony smirked but gave Darry a reassuring nod before following the others outside. Soda, the last to leave, wagged his eyebrows and whispered, “You got this.” Then he was gone, and the house was finally quiet.
Darry took a deep breath. This was it. No turning back now.
He opened the door, and there you were just back from your shift looking tired but beautiful as ever. Your brow furrowing slightly as you stepped inside.
Your eyes swept across the house taking in the shockingly spotless living room and the lack of boys sprawled across the furniture. The warm scent of something home-cooked lingering in the air. Your lips quirked as you turned back to Darry. “Alright, what’s going on? Did you finally scare the boys into cleaning up after themselves?”
Darry smirked but the nerves in his stomach twisted tighter. “Not exactly.” You narrowed your eyes slightly about to ask another question, but then he stepped fully into the light, and your words caught in your throat.
Because damn. Darry was always handsome. Annoyingly so. But tonight? Tonight, he looked unfairly good. He was freshly shaven, dressed up in a button-down shirt that fit just right. His usually messy hair combed back neatly. Your gaze flicked over him, then back up to his face, and you arched a knowing eyebrow.
“Well, don’t you look nice,” you teased, stepping closer. “What’s the occasion? Got a hot date?”
Darry exhaled a short laugh, shaking his head. “Something like that.” He took your hand, his grip warm and steady despite the fact that his heart was racing. “Come with me.” You let him lead you toward the kitchen, curiosity flickering in your expression. And when you stepped inside your breath caught.
The table was set for two. A candle flickering softly in the center with plates arranged neatly with a home-cooked meal that was definitely not thrown together at the last minute. The room was quiet, intimate, a stark contrast to the usual chaos of the Curtis household.
Your heart squeezed, warmth blooming in your chest. “Darry…”
He swallowed hard, suddenly finding it a lot harder to breathe. His grip on your hand tightened as he turned to face you fully. “Look, I—I had a whole speech planned,” he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. “But now that you’re here, I—” He huffed out a nervous chuckle. “Damn. I’m sweatin’ this.”
You grinned. Your voice soft. “Take your time, Dar.”
He looked at you then, really looked at you and suddenly, the nerves didn’t matter so much. Because it was you. You had been there for everything. The good, the bad, the downright impossible. You had stood beside him when the world turned dark, made him laugh when he thought he’d forgotten how. You reminded him that he wasn’t alone even when he tried to carry everything on his own shoulders. He had been in love with you for longer than he cared to admit. And now, he was going to make damn sure he never had to go a day without you.
So, before his hands could shake. Before his voice could waver, Darry dropped down on one knee.
Your breath hitched, eyes widening, hands flying to your mouth as you took a sharp step back. “Oh my God.”
Darry let out a breathless laugh. “Not exactly what I was hopin’ for.”
You squeaked, actually squeaked, and Darry grinned despite the nerves rattling his chest. He pulled a small box from his pocket, flipping it open to reveal a simple but beautiful ring. His heart was pounding but his voice was steady.
“I love you,” he said with no hesitation. “I’ve loved you since before I even knew what that meant. And I know I ain’t always the best at sayin’ it, but you’re… you’re everything to me, darlin’. You always have been.” He exhaled, steadying himself. “So, what do you say? You wanna make it official? Would you marry me darlin’?”
You stared at him for a long second. Your eyes glassy with emotion, your hands still pressed against your mouth. Then, suddenly, and rather violently, you nodded. “Yes,” you gasped, dropping to your knees in front of him. “Yes, Darry, of course yes.”
Relief and joy crashed over him in one overwhelming wave and before he could blink you were throwing your arms around his neck kissing him like you had been waiting for this moment your entire life. He laughed against your lips, one arm winding around your waist as he held you close while the other slipped the ring onto your finger.
It fit perfectly. Just like the two of you always had.
The gang had lasted all of two and a half hours before their patience ran out.
They had tried to keep busy. Soda had challenged Steve to a dumb arm-wrestling contest, Two-Bit had thrown rocks at a can for way too long, and Ponyboy had at least pretended to read. But in the end they all found themselves back on the Curtis porch sitting on the steps, leaning against the railing, restless and nosy as hell.
Soda huffed, drumming his fingers against his knee. “Alright, how long does it take to say yes?”
Steve snorted. “Long enough for Darry to pass out from nerves, apparently.”
Pony rolled his eyes. “She said yes. There’s no way she didn’t.”
“Yeah, but what if she made him sweat first?” Two-Bit smirked. “I woulda dragged it out just to mess with him.”
“Oh, no doubt,” Soda agreed, grinning. “Bet he was sweatin’ bullets.”
Steve stretched out with a groan. “Y’know, we could just knock and pretend we left somethin’ inside.”
“Or,” Two-Bit said, wiggling his brows, “we could just walk in.”
Soda shot up, hands on his hips. “Y’know what? Screw it, I’m goin’ in...”
The door swung open. And there you were. The porch went dead silent like they’d all been caught. Soda, frozen mid-step. Two-Bit, mouth still open from whatever nonsense he was about to say. Steve, looking like he had just been smacked upside the head. Ponyboy looking nervous as hell.
You took in the sight of them camped out like kids waiting for Christmas morning and sighed. “You guys—”
Two-Bit threw his hands up. “Alright, enough suspense. Did he do it?”
Rolling your eyes, you held up your hand, letting the porch light catch the ring.
And just like that, all hell broke loose.
Soda whooped so loud the whole neighborhood probably heard. Two-Bit nearly knocked Steve off the railing in his excitement. Steve let out a long, low whistle and nodded approvingly. Ponyboy, though less dramatic, cracked a rare grin.
Then, the chaos really began.
“I knew it,” Two-Bit declared, shaking his head. “Darry Curtis, officially a taken man. Say goodbye to your freedom, big guy.”
Darry, who had just stepped up behind you, sighed. “Two-Bit.”
“Hey, it’s true!” Two-Bit grinned. “Speakin’ of which, let’s get to the important stuff. I should be the Best Man.”
Darry blinked. “I—I haven’t even thought that far ahead—”
“Well, think now!” Two-Bit pointed at himself. “I got all the qualifications. I’m fun, I got style, and I’ll throw one hell of a speech at the wedding.”
Pony groaned. “God, please no.”
“Oh, like you wouldn’t make it poetic and sappy,” Steve scoffed. “Guarantee Pony’s already writing some tragic love poem about the engagement.”
Pony huffed, crossing his arms. “I am not.”
Soda squinted at the notebook tucked under his arm. “Then what’s this, Mr. Shakespeare?”
Pony smacked him. “Shut up.”
Meanwhile, Steve turned back to Darry, slinging an arm around his shoulders. “Alright, now that the proposal’s outta the way, let’s talk bachelor party—”
“No.”
Steve scoffed. “You don’t even know what I was gonna say.”
“Yes, I do.”
“No, you don’t!”
“Yes, I do,” Darry said firmly.
Steve clicked his tongue, sighing dramatically. “Man, you are no fun.”
“You say that like it’s news.”
Amid all the teasing, the bickering, the relentless chaos, something settled deep in your chest. Warm and certain. The gang wasn’t the same as it had been before. Some wounds never fully healed. Some people never came back. But this family you had built. This love that surrounded you, it was still here. And Darry with his steady hands and steady heart was yours.
You leaned into him, his arm wrapping around you instinctively, and grinned. “You ready for this, Curtis?”
He looked down at you, eyes soft, and squeezed your hand. “Yeah,” he murmured. “I am.”
The chaos eventually settled, eventually. The gang, satisfied with their relentless teasing, finally backed off leaving you and Darry standing together on the porch as the laughter and bickering faded into the night. Soda was still grinning like an idiot, Two-Bit was loudly arguing with Steve over something completely irrelevant, and Pony had already wandered off probably to scribble something poetic about love under the stars.
But none of that mattered. Not really. Because Darry was looking at you. His hand was still wrapped around yours. His thumb tracing small circles along your skin, his grip warm, steady and sure. For a man who carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, right now, he looked lighter.
You turned toward him, tilting your head. “So,” you murmured, voice softer now that the gang’s voices were fading. “You really nervous, or was that just a trick to make me feel special?”
Darry huffed a quiet laugh while shaking his head. “Nah,” he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. “I was nervous as hell.”
You grinned. “Didn’t seem like it.”
“Liar,” he said, and you laughed because, okay, maybe you had seen the way his hands had trembled just a little when he opened the ring box.
He exhaled, looking down at your joined hands, at the ring now sitting on your finger. His voice dropped lower, softer. “I meant every word, y’know.”
“I know,” you said, your chest aching in the best way.
He lifted his gaze. Those deep, stormy-blue eyes locking onto yours, something so full in them that it nearly stole your breath. “I love you.”
It wasn’t the first time he had said it and it wouldn’t be the last. But something about this moment with the porch light casting a soft glow over him, the gang still bickering in the background like nothing had changed, the quiet between you two stretching warm and safe, made it feel like the most important time he had ever said it.
You smiled, stepping closer, resting your forehead against his. “I love you, too, Dar.”
His arm slid around your waist, pulling you in close, his lips brushing against yours in a slow, lingering kiss. One that held every promise he had ever made to you without needing to say a single word. And as you stood there, wrapped up in each other, the laughter of your family echoing behind you, you knew without a doubt that you had found your forever.

୧ ׅ𖥔 ۫ you know i’m a fool for you. ⋄ 𓍯

…IN WHICH! you think the curtis brothers are the only men on the planet.
tags/warnings: swearing(on my end/once during dialogue.) reader being slightly overprotective or insane, mentions of reader getting hit on, mentions of reader leaving lip stick stains, me not knowing what to write for darry.
ೃauthor notes⁀➷ i’m using ny other accounts layout bc i can’t be bothered rn. also i’m here to feed y’all i’ve noticed the outsiders x reader tag is lowkey dry asl.
Ponyboy Curtis:
WOAH HE CAN’T HANDLE ALLAT😭
like actually. he is TWEAKING AT ALL TIMES! when you first like started complimenting him, showering him in kisses, giggling n’ shit—he thought it was a one time thing.
ponyboy just thought he’d have to thug that shit out once a week or something. he was, in-fact, pleasantly surprised when you continued to do it.
“you’re so-mwah-cute! i wish-mwah-i could-mwah-hold you forever!”
“y/n…😣”
he’s so flustered omfg like actually he’s beet red LMFAOOO. if you were to put your fingers to his forehead it’d be so hot. like ponyboy’s avoiding eye contact, his lips are tightened, etc.
if he were to stay the night at your place—you make him all types of food. like, food he’d never heard of. or food he’d dream about after eating bologna for a week,
“for me? …really?”
“mhm! c’mon, don’t let it get cold now.”
ponyboy is DIGGING RIGHT THE FUCK IN. okay he is SCARFING THAT DOWN. after he’d be a little embarrassed of how quickly he ate but like you just took it as a good thing.
thinks you’re the best cook ever tbh. gordan ramsey has nothing on you type levels.
going on a walk with him to go grocery shopping for the curtis house with your hands intertwined and letting ponyboy ramble about this annoying substitute he had!!! IT’S REAL!!! ALL OF IT!!!
“n’ then he tried to tell me my answer was wrong when i studied last night—I EVEN ASKED MY FRIENDS. so, i know it was right. i just think mr. johnson had a personal vendetta against me.”
“smh…i could do slash his tires if you’d like♡!”
“what”
“nothing.”
AWHHH PONYBOY FOLLOWING YOU AROUND THE STORE LIKE A LOST PUPPY BECAUSE HE DOESN’T KNOW WHAT TO BUY LMFAO
he’d like holding your sleeve or the hem of your shirt as you walk around, looking more awkward above all else.
uwahh showering ponyboy in compliments late at night when it’s just the two of you, twirling his hair as you hold him closer!!!
“you’re hair is so pretty. it’s so soft…i dunno why you put grease in it. if i was you—i’d never let anyone touch it.”
“i don’t. i only let you.”
“…REALLY??🥰🥰😚😚”
ur friends are soooo sick of you talking about ponyboy LMFAOOOO like actually. every time you go, ‘omfg did i tell you guys, he-‘ they know to just let you mindlessly ramble.
“and then ponyboy read to me ‘til i fell asleep! he’s so sweet—i dunno how he’s real!”
“i dunno how you’re so whipped.”
“he must be the funniest motherfucker on the planet if y/n’s this obsessed.”
Sodapop Curtis
OHHH Y’ALL ARE AT A CONSTANT WAR TO SEE WHO’S GONNA BEAT THE OTHER AT BEING THE BETTER PARTNER LMFAOOO
HE’S usually the whipped one in the relationship…he felt both extremely lucky and threatened when you started attacking him with kisses…
“you’re so handsome. i’m just the luckiest person on earth—ain’t i?”
“…yeah…🤨”
“why’d you say it like that?😞”
“cause I’M the luckiest person on the earth…I’M supposed to be tellin’ you this…”
but as time goes on—he does take the loss and accepts you’re better at him. for now. it’s only a matter of seconds until sodapop thinks of something insane to show his love for you.
anyways! IMAGINE COOKING WITH HIM OHHHH NY GODDDDD /?:&$:&: he just mainly stands there and looks pretty as he asks what you’re doing but SHHH. HE’S MORAL SUPPORT.
“…what?”
“i’m chopping onions for the flavour, honey.”
“you don’t like onions, though?”
“i don’t like the crunch rather than the flavou—YOU REMEMBERED I DON’T LIKE ONIONS??☹️☹️”
“of course i would!”
gladly holds ur hand 24/7. i’m not kidding. you two are like super magnets. HEHEHE IMAGINE HIM DRIVING WITH ONE HAND ON THE WHEEL AND HIS OTHER HAND HOLDING YOURS!!/!2!
you do take him grocery shopping. only sometimes, though. he only buys junk food rather than actual food.
“can i get these? please?”
“you already have two bags of chips in the cart, soda.”
“okay..😣”
“SIGH…get them.”
“HURRAY!”
knows you can’t say no to him and that’s like the only time he uses it to his advantage.
soc’s do hit on you under the premise of ‘showing you how a real man is supposed to spoil a lady like you.’ HOWEVER, you look at them like they’re aliens.
“hey, baby. what’re you doin’ around here?”
“…EW.”
“???”
they’re shocked above all else as they see you turn away from them and quickly walk away without looking back. AND WOOO SODA IS SO PROUD.
Darry Curtis
the gang acts like you two are constantly fighting whenever you start to look at darry with that sparkle in your eyes.
“guys, PLEASE! YOU’RE BREAKING UP THE FAMILY! STOP ARGUING!”
“what the hell are you on about, soda?”
“you’re scaring pony!” “don’t bring me into this.”
“mind you’re own business, soda.”
AJDIEHJR DARRY HAVING A HAND AROUND YOUR WAIST AS YOU MUTTER SWEET NOTHINGS BETWEEN KISSINGS>>>
you two are a POWER COUPLE IN THE GROCERY STORE! EVEN IF YOU REFUSE TO LET HIM PAY AND HE GETS POUTTY! EVEN IF HE DOESN’T TAKE COMPLIMENTS WELL!
“y/n, please. these are for my house.”
“so?? my wallet was out first.”
“that doesn’t mean anything. baby, i’m telling you, i’m paying.”
“too late, i already handed the cashier the money.”
you cook and clean for the curtis’ to take something off of darry’s back out of the kindness in your heart and totally not because you want him to pay more attention to you!! NEVER!!
but you do enjoy the fact that darry has more time to sit down and pay attention to you! and darry really likes the extra time he has!!
“you didn’t have to.”
“yes i did! you’ve been so stressed out, it’s the least i could do for you.”
“you’re such a treat, y’know.”
“mh. only f’you.”
you FORCE him to hold your hand. sometimes he forgets that he’s supposed to hold your hand in public so do NOT BE AFRAID TO GRAB IT YOURSELF.
but once you do, darry is the last person to let go. maybe to wrap an arm around your hip—BUT THAT’S IT.
teehee leaving lipstick stains on his white t-shirt accidentally🫶🫶!! it’s all so real to me!! sure, darry’s a little annoyed but it’s okay! he can never be mad at you!

please can we see headcanons for boyfriend!johnny cade
JOHNNY CADE BF!HEADCANNONS
Johnny Cade x Fem!reader
Bf!Johnny who ... is shy about his affections. Johnny is naturally shy and a bit reserved, so he might not be the most outwardly confident when it comes to romance. But his actions speak volumes. He’ll be kind and gentle, often looking for little ways to show his love without needing to say much. His affection will be felt in soft gestures, like holding your hand or a gentle touch on your back.
Bf!Johnny who ... is protective of you. After everything Johnny’s been through, he has a strong sense of protectiveness over the people he cares about, especially you. He may not always show it in big, dramatic ways, but he’ll quietly stand up for you and be there to shield you from anything that might hurt you. Although he may struggle to physically protect you, he will always back you up when someone is talking bad about you, telling them off with a shaky voice. He’s the kind of boyfriend who, even when unsure of himself, will put your safety and well-being above his own.
Bf!Johnny who ... is so gentle and caring with you. Johnny has a heart of gold, and as your boyfriend, he’ll show you just how thoughtful and caring he is. He’s the type of person who’ll remember the small things you mention, like your favorite food or the song that always cheers you up, and he’ll do his best to make sure you’re always happy and comfortable.
Bf!Johnny who ... always knows how to comfort you. Johnny has been through a lot of trauma, so he understands pain on a deep level. When you’re upset, he’ll know just how to comfort you. Whether it’s through listening quietly, holding you, or giving you the space you need, he’ll be there for you in a way that makes you feel safe and understood.
Bf!Johnny who ... is more affectionate in private. Johnny isn’t the type to publicly show a lot of affection, especially in front of the gang. He’s a little shy about displaying his feelings, but when it’s just the two of you, he’ll show his love in his own quiet ways. He’ll sneak in little kisses on your forehead or wrap his arm around you as you sit together in silence, just enjoying each other’s company.
Bf!Johnny who ... enjoys late night conversations with you. He often finds himself staying up late just to talk. The two of you will have long conversations about life, your dreams, and the future. He’s the type who opens up when he feels comfortable, and those moments of vulnerability and honesty only make your bond stronger.
Bf!Johnny who ... is always there when you need to talk. Johnny is an empathetic person, and he can sense when something’s wrong even before you say anything. If you’re ever upset or going through something difficult, he’s always there to listen. He won’t push you to talk, but when you do, he listens intently and offers support. You can always count on him to be a soft place to land.
Bf!Johnny who ... takes things slow. Johnny isn’t the kind of guy to rush into things. He takes his time, wanting to build trust and comfort in the relationship. His love for you grows steadily, and he’s careful to make sure both of you are on the same page before taking bigger steps.
Bf!Johnny who ... loves spontaneous hangouts with you. While Johnny is more on the shy side, he’s up for small, quiet adventures with you. Maybe a trip to a diner at night, watching the stars, or just taking a walk around town. He’ll find joy in the simple things, as long as it’s with you by his side.
Bf!Johnny who ... loves the simple things. Johnny doesn’t need a lot to be happy. He enjoys the small, quiet moments—reading a book together, enjoying each other’s company in silence, or watching a movie. Being with you, sharing those peaceful moments, is all he needs to feel content.
Bf!Johnny who ... relies on you for comfort. Johnny finds so much comfort in your presence. Sometimes, after a long, stressful day, all he wants is to be close to you. He might curl up next to you on the couch, holding onto you for comfort. It’s in these moments that he feels truly at peace.
Bf!Johnny who ... sometimes finds himself getting jealous. Johnny is a bit insecure, so if he notices someone giving you too much attention, he might get a little jealous. However, it’s not in a possessive way—he just cares deeply about you and can get nervous that you might not feel the same way about him. He’ll probably keep those feelings to himself, but once he’s alone with you, he’ll quietly seek reassurance from you, just needing to hear how much he means to you.

Darry was probably thinking about his future when Ponyboy was missing.
When he was younger the dream was to settle down and maybe have two or three kids, just like his parents. They were a perfect example of happiness when he was growing up.
Then when they died it became an even bigger goal for him. To become more stable in every aspect of his life. He just had to hang on for a bit and trust in everything he believed in for it to happen.
Then it happened. Because of his anger, his built-up frustration with life, Ponyboy went missing. Those days felt like a whole lifetime, his lifetime. Everything he was working for fell into a big mess in front of him.
How could he have kids when he can't even handle his kid brother? How could he have a wife when he doesn't have anytime to date? His sleep-deprived mind couldn't fight him out of this, no matter how hard he tried. He was sure this was the beginning of the end. Life sat in his chair staring blankly at the wall. His oldest kid brother a shell of his usual self. His youngest kid brother gone, with no sign of return.
Then Ponyboy came back and everything made sense again. Even with his friends gone, it all worked out because he had his family, that's when he regained consciousness of what he really wants in life, a family.
In the end, I hope he gets what he wants. A wife and two darling girls, just what his mom always wanted for him. I think they often talked about his future on those occasional drives home from football practice when his dad couldn't make it cause of work. He adored these talks, no matter how embarrassing they could get, and he hoped his mom was proud of what he achieved. But no one will ever know how it worked out in the end.
I honestly kind of hate this sigh, but I worked on it for so long I had to post anyways. also lowkey wanna yap about Paul and Darry so expect that sometime soon

“Oh, mama, can we keep him? Can we?”
“Pretty please with sugar on top? I promise we'll keep him clean and fed!”
“Pleeeeaasee!”
THE OUTSIDERS "WOLF-WINSTON" AU BLURB... I'm writing this for myself primarily. au made by me !
A tiny Ponyboy and a slightly-less-tiny Soda stood at the door. Smiles bright, with sweat sticking curls to their foreheads as they carried a big, white dog in their arms. They had pulled this puppy all the way from the train tracks, straight to their home to Mama.
To say the least, Mrs. Curtis was awestruck. She held a cloth to her face as to cover her laughter as she looked down at her younger sons and that cloud of a puppy. “Where in the world did you find that dog!? He's damn twice the size of both of you boys combined!”
“We found him at the train tracks, when me n' Sodie were– were...” Ponyboy paused. His ears went real red with embarrassment as he slowly looked over to Soda.
Soda's eyes went wide as Mrs. Curtis smile suddenly became something of pursed-lips. Both of the boys knew they already said too much, blushing and 'umm'ing awkwardly as they began to slowly put their dog down onto the porch.
“You were playing by the tracks again?!” She screeched, grabbing up both of them. “Soda n' Ponyboy, what have I told you to about messin' around there?! Don't you know how you could get yerself hurt?!” She was panicked, squeezing their arms tight as she scolded them.
Ponyboy whined and tried pulling away, but Soda just sat there and pouted. Both of them hated to see Mama stressed, especially about them messing around where they shouldn't be.
“It wasn't nothin', honest! We weren't even messin' around the tracks, we were just walkin' beside 'em!” Ponyboy tried to state his case, but Mama wasn't hearing none of it.
“We found him while we was walking, honest!”
The sound of a truck came from behind, and all three of the Curtises turned to see Darry and Darrel Sr. pull up in that big, red busted up truck. Mr. Curtis had just picked Darry up from football practice, from the looks of it.
They hopped out and made their way up the dingy cement porch steps, Darry skipped a step just for fun as Mr. Curtis followed behind, carrying his bags.
The white dog Soda and Pony had both carried was sniffing around the porch, shoving his nose against the white house exterior, sticking himself underneath a rusted chair to get his snout into a real good corner.
Darry looked them all over as his Pops walked past and gave the Mrs. a kiss. “Hiya, Mama. Hi, Pony. Hi, Soda.” He waved to all of them, before going over to the dog. “Who's this?”
Mr. Curtis began to walk past everyone before being abruptly stopped by Mrs. Curtis, she whispered something to him in a real taut manner, and he simply nodded. None of the brothers took note of it.
“That's Dallas, we found him by the tracks!” Ponyboy squeed, pulling Dallas out from under the seat.
“You named it?” Mama asked, glancing over at the dog. She nearly sounded shocked.
“Mmmhm, sure did!” Soda put his hands on his hips proudly. “I was gonna name him Whispy, but Ponyboy said Dallas sounded like a real cowboy name. N' I like cowboys.” He nodded, smiling wide.
The family all discussed and moved around the dog, before eventually dinnertime came, and everyone headed inside.
Ponyboy ran outside with a plate for Dallas, skipping down the porch steps and whistling for the dog. “Daalllas! Daaaaallas! Here, boy!”
As he glanced around the yard, he noticed that Dallas was nowhere to be found. He ran a circle around the house once, then twice, and when he found out he couldn't find him, he began to panic.
“Dallas?” Ponyboy turned the corner a final time, before he ran over to the gate of their fence. Had they left the door open?
No, the gate wasn't open. But nonetheless, Ponyboy couldn't help but start bawling when he finally came to terms Dallas was missing.
Soda eventually came out, and Darry followed. They found Pony sat in the grass with the food, sniffling hard and wailing real loud.
“Awh, gee, Ponyboy. It's okay, we'll find him!” Soda rubbed Ponyboy's shoulders,
They all got up and walked out of the yard, looking around as they walked down the pavement searching for Dallas. Darry was hollering for the dog, making snaps and clicks to hopefully grab the dog's attention.
What they didn't expect was to see Two-Bit Matthews and Steve Randle just down the block talking to what looked like a bush.
“What're they doing over there..?” Soda mumbled. Darry and Ponyboy both shrugged before all three of them ran over there.
The bush was shaking, but there was no wind for it to shake. Squinting hard to look closer, there was what looked to be a tail and a head of hair sticking out of it.
...Well, that just can't be right. A bush? With hair and a tail?
as the Curtis brothers made their way over, they came into earshot of the proper conversation the three seemed to be having.
“What, so you just ran away because you was bored?” Two-Bit snickered. The bush shook it's head no. “Do ye need clothes or something?” Steve asked. The bush shook it's head yes.
Soda raced over to the boys, running too fast and busting heads with Steve. They both tumbled over and yelped as Soda grabbed onto him, Two-Bit dodging out of the way.
“Steve! Do you know where Dallas is?!”
“Who the hell is Dallas?!” Steve pushed Soda off of him and got up. Everybody else was laughing at them, until Steve threw a mean glare around and everyone hushed up.
“Dallas is my dog! We lost him after we just got him!” Ponyboy cried, and the bush shook again.
“Your dog? I thought we was sharin', Ponyboy!” Soda teased, pushing Ponyboy lightly.
The bush whimpered, and everyone turned to look at it. Blonde hair and big blue eyes were staring big at everyone, the tail connected wagging ferociously.
“Hey, y'sure do look an awful lot like...” Soda started, before suddenly he heard the boy in the bush begin to cry. Something began to crack—sounding like a mixture of twigs and bones— as the bush began to shake more. The gang stared in awe, before eventually the popping stopped...
And out came Dallas. Once a boy, now a dog.
Everyone went bug-eyed. And then, all of a sudden, everyone started screaming.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!”
“Dallas is a boy!”
“He ain't no boy, he's a dog!”
“Well, he was just a boy!”
“Uh, yeah, a naked boy!”
“HOW THE HELL DID HE DO THAT?!”
Dallas was barking up a storm around the screaming kids, jumping around and lapping his tongue happily. He was playing around like nothing was happening.
“We gotta tell Mama!” Ponyboy screamed and started to move away, before being dragged back by Darry. “No we ain't! You know how crazy Mama would think you two are if you told her the dog you just picked up managed to be some kind of– of...” Darry stared at Dallas.
Two-Bit grinned bright and wide, whipping out a comic book from his pocket and pointing at the big words on it.
“Werewolf!”

Sodapop and his girlfriends first date? Can the girlfriend be basically a female version of him?? Maybe they could be in a secret relationship cause they know their friends would be annoying about them being together lmao
Of course 🎀 i’d love to do this!!!
Sodapop x female!Reader
Warnings: none, maybe a bit of smoking but nothing else 🤷♀️ (please tell me if there are anything I missed)
You were laying sprawled out on the curtis couch on one hot summer afternoon, nothing was going on. Absolutely nothing. to some that seems perfect but too you it was miserable. you were restless and aching for something to do but frankly it was way to hot to do anything besides plunge yourself into an ice bath. No one was around, they were either at work or out doing something on their own. Although you were bored you must admit silence was nice until sodapop, twobit, and Steve came barging the the front door. “Hey y/n” Soda said with a cheeky grin. “Hey” you replied and laid back down only sinking further into the couch. Twobit groans before parking himself down in the cozy armchair next to you. “Its to hot” soda moaned while splashing some water on his face in an attempt to cool off. “I know right.” Steve grumbled while laying down on the floor in a weird star fish pose. “Want some cake steve” soda asked with a grin to which steve surprisingly replied with a firm shake of his head. “No this heat is making me fucking nauseous” he sighed and rolled onto his stomach. You smirked down at steve before looking back up at soda “that’s surprising” you chuckled and sat up slowly. “Well we gotta do something to get our minds off this heat.” You said looking around the group. “What about ice cream!” Twobit said with his mouth full of cake. I rolled my eyes with a chuckle. “For one, eat with your mouth closed and two… well i have nothing else to complain about lets get ice cream” she grinned and hopped up off the couch already walking towards the door with soda at my side. We were all standing by the door waiting for Steve. “Go with out me… i fear ill never get up… t-the heat is too much” Steve moaned dramatically while closing his eyes for extra dramatic effect. “ughhh, Steve shut up and lets go” you all three shouted in unison.“Fine” he groaned and we all made our way to the ice-cream shop done the street.Once we ordered me and soda sat at the picnic tables outside while Steve and twobit waited for their food.“Im glad we are here together” you smiled at him from across the table.“Yeah me too i just wished those two weren’t here” he rolled his eyes a grin still evident on his face.“Well its like our own secret date” you smiled and he smiled back.

Ponyboy Curtis Blurbs ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆
Ponyboy Curtis x Reader (fem kinda implied)
୨୧ : Blurbs/hc’s about Ponyboy and being in a relationship with him
A/N : Idek what this is and it’s short but I love him. Also the first ‘fanfic’ I’ve ever posted so bare with me…
˖⁺‧₊˚ 💌 ˚₊‧⁺˖
୨ He ABSOLUTELY writes you love letters/poetry and slips in in your locker
୨ Was probably too embarrassed the first few times & just kept them to himself, but you found them one day and brought it up to him and he’s done it ever since
୨ Laying together on his and Soda’s bed, your head in his lap while he reads to you
୨ Cuddling and one of the boys barging in (he proceeds to get DOGGED ON by the guys and Darry makes you leave the door cracked)
୨ Johnny was the first to find out about his feelings for you. He ended up telling Soda, but then it got out to the entire gang
୨ He was teased about it constantly- mainly by Steve, Two, and Dallas
୨ Study dates 🤭🤭
୨ Old couples always gushing about ‘young love’ when you’re out in public together
୨ Him constantly insisting on walking you home and to/from anywhere in general
୨ It’s kinda canon he gets flustered easily so him getting sososo embarrassed whenever you compliment or kiss him/simply be affectionate
୨ Him using your initial as a variable for math classes ?)28/82&2&:&
୨ Very expected, but always watching the sunset together
୨ Tries so hard to be tuff in front of the gang but he always melts when it comes to you
୨ Keeping a heart locket with a pic of you and him in it
୨ In turn, he has a pic of you in his wallet
୨ Always going to the drive-in together then debriefing the movies after
୨ Going to a school dance together and him being all bushy and nervous- the guys obviously teasing you again but also being sweet
୨ ^^^ Darry yapping about “no funny business”
୨ Cheering him on from the sidelines during track meets
୨ Comforting him after he has an argument with Darry
୨ Along with that, he probably smarts off to Darry when your name is brought up. If Darry says you’re a ‘distraction,’ Pony will be having none of that
୨ Getting caught under a mistletoe during Christmas at the Curtis house and him malfunctioning + getting teased by the boys (ONCE AGAIN)
୨ Hanging out with him and Johnny and kissing him on the cheek before getting up to use the bathroom or something, and him giving Johnny a lil’ sly smirk with bright red cheeks once you walk away
୨ Constantly trying to get him to quit smoking; it’s hard but he’s at least down from 2 packs a day because of you
୨ Fussing whenever he comes back from a rumble, but never hesitating to help fix him up even if he might grumble about ‘being fine’
୨ Passing notes to each other during classes
୨ Two-Bit yelling stupid shit like “use protection” when you go ANYWHERE by yourselves, even if you’ll just be gone a split second
୨ Speaking of going places yourselves, Darry’s extremely hesitant/strict about it for multiple reasons
୨ Probably has ‘the talk’ with you guys and you’re both extremely uncomfortable- sitting there like 🧍🧍♀️
୨ Him giving you book recommendations, vice versa
୨ He’s the type of person to prefer holding pinkies- at least in public or until you guys are around Soc’s and he gets protective
୨ If this is all during the events of The Outsiders- you going to the church with Dallas and telling him & Johnny off for being idiots but also being extremely worried
୨ Making him keep his hair un-greased more often so you can play with it
୨ Overall, sososo much teasing from the rest of the guys LMAO

The Outsiders x Bookworm! Reader

Darry Curtis
He loves watching you read
He doesn't really read much himself- he doesn't get the appeal and thinks that his own life is enough without looking at other people's
But he respects your reading time and won't interrupt
One of his favorite things is coming home from work and seeing you peacefully sprawled out on the couch or the bed, reading a book
Darry will definitely let you rant about your books to him even though he doesn't really understand the plots- he loves the way your eyes light up and you smile
Darry smiles softly once you finish telling him about the plot twist in your book, reaching up and tucking back a stray piece of your hair. "Oh, hon, sounds so interesting."
Sodapop Curtis
Soda will sometimes make fun of your books in a sweet way
You'll be explaining the book, or he'll peek at the blurb on the back, or he'll see the picture of the author, and the man will be in stitches
Despite your attempts to hide the back of the book to keep Soda from distracting you as you read, he still manages to catch a glimpse of the back. You roll your eyes with exasperation as his contagious, unrestrained laughter fills the room, but you can't hold back a little smile. Soda manages to gasp out a couple sentences. "Moby- Moby Dick? And the author's name was Herman? Oh, god- doll-"
He hasn't read anything really since he dropped out but he knows from living with Pony how important reading is to some people
So after he's had his laugh, he'll sit with you and just close his eyes, maybe leaning on your shoulder or stroking your hair
Ponyboy Curtis
Out of the whole gang, Pony probably understands and respects your reading the most
He reads too, of course, and he's really glad that he found someone who likes it as much as he does
He listens intently when you're talking to him about your books
He'll read with you- maybe he'll cuddle with you as you guys read, or he'll just sit next to you so your shoulders are touching
You guys will sometimes read the same book together like a book club and talk about it after
Pony rubs circles on the back of your hand with his thumb as you sit together. "Oh, I finally finished Gatsby yesterday. You finished it the other day, right? What'd ya think?"
Dallas Winston
Most of the time when you're trying to read, Dally is probably a total pain
He'll want your attention. Yeah, leave it to Dallas Winston to get jealous over a book
Dally bats at the book in your hands, snapping it shut. He throws an arm over your shoulder, gazing at you with irritation. "Hey, doll! When'd a book get more important than ya man? Whatta ya readin' about, huh, some wimpy Soc?"
He sighs and rolls his eyes when you try to talk about the plot of your book with him, but he won't interrupt. If he's feeling tolerant, he might even listen
However, sometimes when he's in a really sweet mood, he'll let you read in peace
He'll put an arm around you and just watch you read, the slight crease in your brow, your eyes intently scanning the page
He secretly thinks you're beautiful when you read
Steve Randle
Steve doesn't read, but he knows that you do
It's not a big deal to him, just something else you do
He'll leave you alone when you're trying to read and sometimes he'll just sit next to you and do his own thing like watch TV or fidget with a car part
Although if he sees a book he thinks you'll like, he'll steal it buy it for you
Steve sits down next to you on your bed, holding something. You give him a quizzical look and he hands it to you quickly, like he's trying to seem less soft than this sweet gesture makes him look. "Here, dollface. Gotcha somethin'."
Johnny Cade
Johnny isn't a bookworm per se, but he sometimes enjoys reading
He'll claim he doesn't have the time, that books don't matter to him but after enough needling from you he'll give in and read a book that you enjoyed
Johnny gives you a look when you recommend one of the books you've read recently to him, shaking his head. "You want me to read Frankenstein? Isn't that, like, the freaky one? With the dead monster? I ain't readin' that!" However, when you spend the next five minutes trying to convince him, he finally caves with a little smile on his face that he tries to hold back. "Y'know what, fine. But only 'cause you're sweet."
Johnny doesn't bother you while you read, he sits with you and just ponders. Sometimes he'll try to grab your hand which makes it sort of awkward to hold the book and turn the page, but you just can't say no to the guy
If he's reading something too, he'll read with you. Maybe sit cross legged and have his leg resting on yours
He really tries to listen and understand when you're ranting to him about a book. The way you explain it sometimes confuses him and he always asks questions, he genuinely cares and is interested
Two-Bit Mathews
He's absolutely a menace
Two-Bit won't try to stop you from reading by closing the book or anything, but he'll cover up the page while you're trying to read, pull out your bookmarks, things like that
Two-Bit covers the paragraph you're trying to read with his hand, eliciting an angry huff from you. You tell him to move his hand, but he just shakes his head with an impish grin that makes you want to shove him. "Nah, sweetheart. I don't think so."
At other times he'll pretend to read over your shoulder but in an obnoxious way- breathing really loudly in your ear or getting really close
He's really not interested in reading at all, he just thinks it's funny and cute the way you get so invested in the books
When you try to explain books to him, he just cocks an eyebrow and says something like, 'oh really now?'
But he does listen sometimes
If he's in a more empathetic or sweet mood he'll sit next to you and just put an arm around you or drum his fingers on your back as you read

i didn’t?? see this ?? but yes omg
i imagine that’s when paul finally sees darry again (like per the original plan, he finally gets what he wants which was a chance to see/talk to darry again) like b4 wise yeah the gang knows pony’s hanging out paul and they’ve caught the two together but this is the first time paul makes a move.
and paul coming over to talk to darry, to bare his soul so to speak about how “yh i can see how you can get to this conclusion especially since my pseudo brother beat the shit out of one of urs, but consider: i’ve had a change of heart” and, purely fantastical bc canon darry would never but also bc i think it’s funny, darry would be hesitant at first but ultimately sees how happy pony is and is like yeah alright if johnny says sure then bygones are bygones. but soda? he’s like candace from phineas and ferb the way he’s looking for a reason to hate paul. him and two-bit. (i think johnny sees how comfortable pony is around them and doesn’t care, like im sure he keeps his distance whenever the socs are around but since it isn’t often there’s no real worry.)
i don’t think they’d get back together, but i def think it makes darry’s heart flutter a little whenever he does see pony and paul. but it’s also bittersweet bc in one way he’s happy to find out that if things did i work between them his brother would’ve liked the guy but also far to much has happened for darry to want to give paul a second chance. like the reason they “broke up” is bc paul couldn’t understand why darry would put his family ?? his literal flesh and blood?? first, how can he trust that paul finally understands yk
mmm i’m thinking up an au where paul still harbors feelings for darry despite them being broken up and a summer fling at best. they’ve never actually met each others family so the curtis’ and co don’t know paul; everything they know about the others family is from the grapevine or stories they tell (which is to say paul could point out all of darry’s friends/family from a line up bc darry’s a chronic oversharer)
i digress. one day pauls out and he sees a kid getting jumped paul sees. at first he was just going to keep driving until he got a good glimpse at the kid and realized they look a lot like that pony kid darry use to tell him about and if he squinted he could even see hints of darry in him.
and he really ought not help, he especially shouldn’t be helping some greaser. but if he helps the kid, if he gets in close and pretends he really cares about the kid, there’s a chance he could win darry over again. because darry loves his siblings so what better way to win him over than helping his them ? so purely out of selfish desire does he help pony.
BUT weeks- nay months pass by and paul actually finds himself genuinely caring about pony. like he starts to think of pony as a little brother almost on the same level as he does bob. and he has yet to even see darry again
#i yapped so bad#um they mean so much to me ur honor#darry curtis#paul holden#ponyboy#i love this so much i low-key wanna write blurbs about it????#<- prev tag#DO IT DO IT#i double dog dare you

Yoo, like the fic you did of tim in readers house, and shes trying to get him out.
could you possibly do maybe a blurb or fic of having two-bit in readers rrom and them getting caught with their clothes still off? But they didnt do anything, they were just changing and readers brothers (curtis's) think they did smth🤨🤔😏😏
In reality they were just cuddling (as a couple not besties) and two-bit gets chases out the house, and reader is super embarrased.
I think this would be a really funny fix, LMAOO
Then at the end reader is SUPER embarrased, and they both get teased by thr gang in the afternoon. (bc this is in the mroning, like the tim sitch)
if you dont wanna do this ask, its alr!! Love ur work btw!!♥♥♥

A cool breeze swept in through your open window, and the sun was already high in the sky, casting long shadows that stretched from corner to corner of the bedroom. The curtains are open just enough for a ray of light to slip through, warming the sleep-rumpled sheets pooled around you.
Beside you, with his arm draped lazily around your waist, lies Two-Bit Mathews, his rust-coloured hair sticking up at a variety of odd angles, his lips parted ever so slightly as he sleeps soundly. He looks unusually peaceful, and you take a second to admire him, gently tracing the freckles dusted across his bare shoulders with the pads of your fingers. There’s a small scar just above his brow, barely visible beneath the messy strands covering it, but you know it’s there all the same. It’s just one of the many things that you find yourself loving.
Carefully, you brush his hair back into place and press your lips to his forehead, hoping to wake him before your brothers get out of bed and inevitably come knocking at your door. A soft groan rumbles through his chest, and you can see his eyes flutter open for a fleeting moment, bleary blue irises meeting yours as he tries to process where exactly he is. Then those eyes fall shut again, and you sigh heavily, leaning over to shake his shoulder lightly.
“Two, c’mon.” You whisper softly, earning another moan of protest as he pulls you closer, pressing a kiss to the crook of your neck.
“Five more minutes,” he murmurs against your skin, his voice thick with sleep and his breath tickling your sensitive skin. It's rare to see him so disoriented, so out of it, and you can’t help but feel amused at his behaviour.
However, your amusement quickly evaporates when you hear the telltale ring of Darry’s alarm, the sound shrill and piercing as it cuts through the silence. You cringe at the sound. Two-Bit grunts in displeasure, burying his face deeper into your shoulder.
“It's not fair,” he whines, peering up at you. “How can they be awake already? It's Sunday morning. I want to sleep in.” Despite his words, his hold on you loosens slightly, and he pushes himself up onto his elbow, blinking hard until he focuses on your face, his eyes brightening significantly when he meets your gaze.
The covers pool loosely around your waist as he shifts, and he immediately notices your bare torso, a broad grin spreading across his features.
“Woah, hey, cover up!” A loud laugh escapes him, and you're quick to slap a hand over his mouth, glaring down at him.
“Shh, you idiot. Darry will hear you.” Two holds his hands up placatingly, his smile still in place as you pull your hand away, rolling your eyes in feigned annoyance at his antics. He leans forward, pressing his lips to yours in a silent apology, one you accept easily, your fingers tangling in his hair as he pulls you closer. It’s sweet and simple, lasting no longer than a couple of seconds before you break apart, a soft smile playing at your lips.
Two-bit stretches out beside you, propping his head up on his hand as he watches you intently, an unreadable expression in his eyes. You roll off of the mattress, ignoring the quiet whine of protest you get in response, padding across the room in search of your discarded clothes, which lay in a crumpled pile by the door.
One glance at the clock tells you you've only got a couple minutes to get your very stubborn and very lazy boyfriend dressed and out of your window before Sodapop or Ponyboy come barging in.
With a heavy sigh, you pick up a pair of dark blue jeans, tossing them haphazardly towards Two, who catches them with a broad grin.
“Put those on.” You mumble, turning back to search for your own clothes, only succeeding in finding your shirt before the door flies open, slamming against the wall and making both of you jump.
“Y/N, Darry wants—” Ponyboy stops short when his gaze lands on Two-Bit, whose jeans are halfway up his thighs, an almost comical look of confusion crossing his features before it's replaced with something akin to horror. “Oh my God,” he breathes out. “You guys...” He trails off, glancing over to you before slapping a hand over his eyes when he realises how very little you're wearing.
“Get out!” You shriek, your cheeks turning a brilliant shade of red, and Pony doesn’t need to be told twice, turning on his heel and fleeing from the room, no doubt to go tell Darry about his new, and rather horrifying, discovery.
You turn to look at Two-Bit, who, despite the situation, is still grinning like a madman as he pulls on his shirt, seemingly unfazed by everything that has happened in the last few seconds. That grin quickly fades, however, when a loud crash sounds from the kitchen, accompanied by Darry’s all-too-familiar bellow of your name.
“Shit…” You curse, tugging on the remainder of your clothes, trying to usher your boyfriend to the window despite his protests. His arms wrap tightly around your midsection, preventing you from even attempting to escape, and though you try to kick and squirm out of his grasp, he simply refuses to release his grip on you, his chin resting on your shoulder. “Keith Mathews, I swear if you don't let me go right now—”
Your threats are interrupted as the door flies open for the second time that morning, and there stands Darry, his hands on his hips, his eyes blazing with a look that could only be described as murderous. You freeze, staring at him helplessly, and Two-Bit offers him a sheepish smile, slowly releasing you and backing away towards the open window. Before he reaches it, however, Darry steps forward, grabbing him by the back of his shirt roughly and dragging him back.
“Darry!” You exclaim, sounding slightly exasperated as you watch your brother pull Two-Bit out of your room and down the hallway, cursing under his breath as he goes. You trail after them, pausing beside a rather surprised Sodapop and a very guilty-looking Ponyboy as Darry shoves Two out of the front door, crossing his arms and glaring down at him.
“If I find you sneaking in here to see her again, I'll skin you, you hear?” He growls, pointing a threatening finger at the younger greaser, who has the decency to look appropriately terrified, flashing you a pleading look.
With a sigh, you step forward, placing a gentle hand on your brother’s forearm and forcing out a tight-lipped smile. “Darry, c’mon.” You try, “He wasn’t doing anything wrong.”
It seems, however, that your pleas fall on deaf ears, and Darry turns sharply to glare at you, his expression stony. You quickly fall silent, listening as your older brother continues to scold Two-Bit, whose eyes are wide with a slight fear. Darry could be really frightening when he wanted to be; you’d learn that the hard way.
“I mean it,” Darry barks, his attention seemingly back on the redhead still standing on the porch. “From now on, you use the front door, and that bedroom door stays open whenever you’re around. I don’t want any ‘funny business’ going on under this roof. Especially not while I’m sleeping next door.”
You know exactly what he means by 'funny business', and the implication causes your cheeks to flush crimson. Two-Bit, who looks just as embarrassed as you are, nods hurriedly, and you don't think you've ever seen the greaser look so guilty in all the time that you've known him.
Darry must notice too, because he relaxes slightly, his tone softer than it had been before, as he speaks once again. “Don't hurt her; you got it?”
“Got it.” Two nods: “I wouldn’t dream of it.”
Darry huffs, clearly not entirely satisfied with the whole situation, but deciding to drop it nonetheless as he glances between the two of you. He runs a hand through his dark hair, which is still slightly mussed from sleep, and lets out a long sigh. “Ya’ll are going to kill me someday.” He mutters, shaking his head, before turning from the door and heading back in the direction of the kitchen.
Once he’s gone, you shoot Two-Bit an apologetic look, but he merely smiles and winks reassuringly at you before turning on his heel to jog down the porch steps. You close the door with a loud sigh and hear Sodapop chuckle behind you, his arms crossed and a smug smile spread across his features.
“So…” He drawls, looking impossibly pleased with himself. “Two-Bit Mathews, huh?”
“Shut up.”

moving day
a helping hand au blurb | paul + curtis bros, background chetsoda, parry exes | au explanation here
it was an odd feeling for pony, moving out of the house he grew up in. even weirder is knowing that the house wasn't fully out of his life. he doesn't know if that makes it better or worse, knowing him and soda are moving out, while darry is being left behind.
pony shook those thoughts out of his head as he looked up from his notebook at the sound of someone speaking.
"aren't you supposed to be packing?" it was chet, one of paul's soc friends. another odd thing that seemed to be the new normal in the curtis house: socs. in the few weeks it took for all the paperwork to be filed and everything to be settled, paul and darry had introduced the boys to some of paul's friends, hoping to make the adjustment easier.
chet wasn't too bad, though. he was kinda funny and pony had vague memories of him hanging around soda when they were young so him being in the curtis house wasn't that freaky of a sight. it was the time paul brought cherry valance and bob sheldon over that made pony question how his life ended up like this.
"i'm drawing the house. don't wanna forget what it looks like." that wasn't actually what he was drawing but chet didn't need to know that.
chet put his hands up in surrender and shrugged. "where's soda? in your room?"
"yeah, him and steve are in there, finishing up packing. soda decided to wait til the last minute."
chet laughed to himself as he waved to pony and started down the hall to help the other boys pack.
pony put his notebook into his backpack, figuring now that even more people were here to help, he should also start doing something. unlike soda, pony had decided to pack his couple of boxes the day before. it didn't take that long, he didn't need to take everything. just the stuff he would really need or want for the next couple of weeks while he gets settled at paul's; then they can go through and see what else he needs and what else they need to move or possibly buy.
"do y'all need help?" pony called out to paul and darry as he walked outside to darry's truck in the driveway.
darry looked at paul and then the truck before answering. "nah. just one more box to load in the truck. i think we're just gonna drive this over and let soda and chet use paul's car to bring soda's boxes over."
pony looks over at paul's car and laughed. "i don't think that car is even big enough to fit just his hair products."
darry laughed as we walked by pony, smacking his shoulder. "don't act like you don't have a whole bag full of different gels and greases."
pony turned to smack him back but he dodged out of the way, going back inside to grab the last box. pony whipped back around when he heard paul laughing.
"it wasn't that funny." paul's laughter didn't stop so pony rolled his eyes and continued. "so now that you and darry are coparenting-"
this made paul's laughter stop as he choked on his surprise. "what? i wouldn't call it coparenting. don't call it that."
pony raised his eyebrow, noticing the older boy's face becoming red. "is that not what you're doing?"
paul lifted his hand to awkwardly scratch the back of his neck as he answered. "no. i mean, not really. we're just working together to make sure you guys are staying housed and fed and to keep you guys out of trouble."
"wow. if only there were a word for that." pony faked a gasp, as he tried to hold back his laughter at the look of irritation on paul's face. "oh wait, there is! coparenting."
"okay, you don't have to be a smartass." despite paul's words, pony could hear a hint of amusement in his voice.
pony quickly looked back to make sure darry was still inside before turning back to paul, lowering his voice. "dude, you can't swear around me. darry's like super strict about it, for some reason. he'll be upset if he hears you saying stuff like that around me. even dally knows not to because darry freaks."
paul's eyes widened, terrified of doing something that will upset darry. "wait, seriously? like for real? shit- i mean, not- no," a look of realization crosses paul's face as he shakes his head and continues. "wait, no. i've heard him and the gang swear around you before! fuck you, dude. you had me for a second."
as pony had been messing with paul, darry had come back outside with the last box in his arms. he nudged pony as he walked by. "okay, pone, take it easy on him."
"what? he knows i'm just messing with him." darry rolls his eyes at his youngest brother while he places the last box in the truck.
"okay, come on, let's go. you coming along for the ride, pony?"
pony nodded and went to get in the truck. paul opened the passenger door, letting pony slide in first.
"thanks, dad." pony said as he sat down, giving paul the biggest grin he could.
darry let out a loud laugh as he got into the drivers seat, shutting up once he noticed paul's glare at him.
"do not call me that, oh my god."
paul got in the truck as pony spoke. "well why not?"
"because it's weird. i'm only 6 years older than you, ya know?"
darry rolled his eyes as he began driving, knowing he was about to have to listen to pony purposely annoy paul and paul continuously falling for it for the whole day.
"are you not legally my father now?"
darry interrupted the conversation before paul could answer pony. "so, are you regretting it yet?"
pony laughed and looked towards paul expectantly. "well, are you?"
paul just smiled at the boys, knowing this decision was something he would never regret. "not yet, only because i have a voice chanting in my head that he's doing it on purpose to be a little shit."

Pairing: Darrel "Darry" Curtis x Female Reader

One
The Curtis household felt like it was holding its breath, each tick of the clock a solemn reminder of Ponyboy's absence. Darry's footsteps reverberated off the walls like a steady drumbeat, his broad shoulders weighed down by worry, his usually composed demeanor strained under the weight of uncertainty. His brow was furrowed, deep worry lines etched into his forehead, a testament to the sleepless nights and restless pacing.
Soda, usually the embodiment of youthful energy and charisma, sat slumped on the worn couch, his vibrant spirit dampened by the heavy cloud of uncertainty that hung in the air. His hands fidgeted restlessly, tracing invisible patterns on the frayed edges of the cushions, his gaze fixed on the floor as if searching for answers in the worn wood.
And then there was you, standing in the doorway watching the two solemn brothers. With determined steps, you crossed the room, your movements purposeful yet gentle, as if afraid to disturb the fragile peace that hung in the air. The creak of the floorboards beneath your feet barely registered against the backdrop of tension that encased the room.
As you drew closer, the lines of worry etched into Darry and Soda's faces became more pronounced, the worry lingering in their eyes like a shadow refusing to fade. But in your presence, there was a glimmer of hope, a promise of comfort and solace in the midst of chaos. Your unwavering support was a silent reassurance, a reminder that no matter what challenges they faced, they were not alone.
And as you stood before them, a pillar of strength and resilience, the weight of their worries seemed to lift ever so slightly. In that moment, surrounded by uncertainty and fear, they found solace in your presence, knowing that as long as you were by their side, they could weather any storm.
"Darry," you said softly, your voice steady despite the turmoil swirling around you. "We'll find him. Ponyboy's smart, smarter than any of us, he knows how to take care of himself."
Soda glanced up at you, his eyes reflecting a mix of fear and gratitude, like flickering flames in the darkness. His usual bright spirit seemed dimmed, overshadowed by the worry that gnawed at his insides. "Yeah, Pony's tough," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper, as if afraid to give voice to his deepest fears. "But what if... what if he's hurt, or..."
You moved to sit beside Soda, the worn cushions of the couch sinking slightly under your weight as you wrapped an arm around his shoulders. The warmth of your touch was a comforting anchor in the sea of uncertainty that threatened to engulf them all. "We'll find him, Soda," you reassured him, your voice soft yet resolute, a steady hand in the midst of the storm. "Ponyboy's resourceful. And if he needs help, he knows we're here for him."
Soda's shoulders sagged with relief at your words, the tension easing from his frame ever so slightly. In that moment, your presence was a lifeline, a reminder that no matter how dire the situation seemed, they were not alone. With your unwavering support, they could face whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing that together, they were stronger than any obstacle they might encounter. In your embrace, he found comfort and solace, a brief respite from the turmoil that threatened to consume him.
Darry ran a hand through his hair, the strands falling back into place with a tired resignation. His gaze seemed fixed on the window, as though he could conjure Ponyboy's figure with sheer force of will. "I just can't shake this feeling, Y/N," he confessed, his voice a raw mixture of regret and anguish. "I should've been there for him. I should've been a better brother."
The weight of his words hung heavy in the air, a tangible reminder of the self-doubt that plagued him. You watched him with the burden of responsibility pressing down on his broad shoulders. For once, he seemed so vulnerable, so achingly human, and your heart burned for him.
Reaching out, you gently grasped Darry's hand in yours, the contact a silent reassurance of your unwavering support. "You're a great brother, Darry," you insisted, your voice soft yet firm, determined to break through the walls of self-doubt that threatened to engulf him. "You've done everything you can for him. Sometimes things happen that are out of our control. It got a little heated. But he knows you love him. I promise you that."
Darry's gaze flickered to meet yours, his eyes searching for solace amidst the storm of his own emotions. In your forward gaze, he found a sliver of hope, a reminder that even in his darkest moments, he was not alone. And though the weight of guilt still lingered heavy in his heart, for the first time in days, he felt a flicker of light amidst the darkness.
Darry's eyes met yours, gratitude, and relief flooding through him like a tidal wave. In that moment, as you stood by his side, offering him strength, and understanding, he knew without a doubt that you were his person. You were the one who could ease his troubled mind, who could calm his fears with just a few words.
As you enveloped them both in a comforting embrace, Darry felt a sense of peace wash over him. No matter what challenges they faced, as long as you were by their side, they would get through it together. At this instance, surrounded by uncertainty and fear, Darry realized that he never wanted to spend another day without you by his side.
Two
After the rumble, the weight of exhaustion settled like a heavy fog over the Curtis household. You sat by Ponyboy's bedside, tending to him as he lay weak and feverish, your heart heavy with worry for his well-being after the rumble.
Meanwhile, Darry and Soda hovered nearby, their usual composure shattered by the recent losses of their friends. The absence of Dally and Johnny cast a palpable shadow over their already heavy hearts, each moment weighed down by the gravity of their grief.
Ponyboy's condition only added to the tension in the air. His fever raged unchecked, his breaths coming in shallow, ragged gasps. You could see the fear in Darry and Soda's eyes as they watched over him, their concern laced into every line of their faces.
In the dim light of the bedroom, the silence was suffocating, broken only by the occasional cough from Ponyboy's bed. Darry paced back and forth, his brow furrowed with worry, while Soda sat with his head in his hands, his shoulders hunched with the weight of his sorrow.
Despite their best efforts to hide it, the pain worn into their features was unmistakable. They were both nervous and sad, grappling with their own emotions while trying to stay strong for Ponyboy's sake.
And as you continued to care for Ponyboy, offering him comfort and solace in his time of need, you couldn't help but feel the weight of their grief pressing down on you as well. In that moment, surrounded by so much sadness and uncertainty, you knew that you were all in this together, bound by love and loss in equal measure.
Darry, the sturdy rock upon which they all leaned in times of trouble, now stood crumbling under the weight of his emotions. His usually stoic facade shattered, revealing the raw vulnerability beneath as tears threatened to spill from his eyes. Each breath seemed to come harder, as if the weight of his grief pressed down upon him like a suffocating blanket.
With each memory of Dally's fiery spirit and Johnny's quiet courage, Darry's heart clenched with pain, his chest tightening with each beat. He had always been the one to hold them all together, to shoulder the burdens of their troubled lives with unyielding strength. But now, faced with the harsh reality of their losses, he found himself drowning in a sea of sorrow, his usual composure shattered by the enormity of their grief.
His shoulders, once squared with determination, now hunched with the weight of his sorrow, exhaustion evident in his demeanor. Every movement seemed labored, as if the simple act of breathing had become a Herculean task.
And yet, even in the depths of his despair, there was a flicker of something else within him – a fierce determination to honor the memories of those they had lost, to carry on in their absence with the same strength and resilience they had shown in life. It was a silent promise, whispered in the darkness of his own anguish, to never forget the sacrifices they had made, to never let their memories fade into the void.
And so, with tears streaming down his cheeks and his heart heavy with grief, Darry stood as a testament to the power of love in the face of loss. For even in his darkest hour, he knew that their bond was unbreakable, their love eternal. And it was that love that unwavering devotion to each other, that would carry them through even the darkest of nights.
Soda, typically the heart and soul of any gathering, sat in somber silence, his usually lively demeanor overshadowed by the weight of his own sorrow. His hands shook as he reached for a cigarette, the ember casting a faint glow in the dimly lit room. The smoke curled around him like a ghostly veil, a silent testament to the heaviness that hung in the air.
Despite his efforts to appear composed, the cracks in Soda's facade were evident to those who knew him best. His eyes, usually bright with mischief, now held a haunted look, a reflection of the pain that gnawed at his soul. With each drag of his cigarette, he sought solace in the fleeting distraction it provided, a brief respite from the relentless ache of loss.
And yet, even in his scariest of moments, there was a quiet strength in Soda's resolve, a determination to honor the memory of his fallen friends. Though his spirit may be dimmed by grief, his loyalty to those he loved burned brighter than ever, a guiding light in the darkness that surrounded them all.
As you sat by Ponyboy's bedside, tending to his fever, your heart felt heavy with the weight of multiple burdens. The physical task of cooling his fevered brow and offering him sips of water seemed almost insignificant compared to the mental load you carried.
Your exhaustion was palpable, each movement weighed down by the weight of their sorrow. Your own grief mingled with theirs in a tangled web of pain and loss, making it difficult to distinguish where one ended and the other began. But still, you soldiered on, driven by a fierce determination to offer whatever comfort and solace you could to those you loved.
In the early hours of the morning, as the world slept on, you remained vigilant by Ponyboy's side, your weariness evident in every weary breath. The events of the past few days weighed heavily on your mind, the memories of Dally and Johnny's deaths like a knife twisting in your heart. The loss felt so raw, so overwhelming, that it threatened to take you entirely.
As the first light of dawn filtered through the window, illuminating the room with a gentle glow, Darry's tired eyes fell upon you, still faithfully tending to Ponyboy's needs. It was then, a wave of gratitude washed over him, mingling with the sorrow that still clung to his heart.
Watching you, exhausted yet steadfast in your care for his brother, Darry felt a profound sense of admiration and appreciation wash over him. Your dedication, your selflessness, spoke volumes about the depth of your love not just for Ponyboy, but for all of them.
In the soft light of dawn, as the lines of weariness formed into your features softened with a faint smile, Darry knew with a certainty that resonated deep within his soul - you were his rock, his anchor in the storm. Your unwavering presence, your boundless capacity for love and compassion, had seen them through the darkest of nights.
And as he watched you, a silent vow formed in his heart - to cherish you, to protect you, to love you with every fiber of his being. For in that moment, as the first light of dawn cast its gentle glow upon the room, Darry knew without a shadow of a doubt that you were his, now and forever. Together, you would face whatever challenges lay ahead, united in your grief and your love for each other, a bright light amidst the sorrow that surrounded them.
Three
Months had passed since that tumultuous night, yet the memory of your unwavering support continued to linger in Darry's mind. The morning sunlight spilled through the kitchen window, casting a warm glow over the room as you bustled about, preparing lunches for Darry and Soda. Darry leaned against the doorway, his heart swelling with affection as he watched you move with effortless grace, a vision of domesticity and love.
As he observed you, a smile tugged at the corners of his lips, a silent acknowledgment of the happiness you brought into his life each and every day. "Morning, darlin'," he greeted, his voice soft with affection.
You turned to face him, returning his smile with one of your own. "Morning, Darry," you replied, your eyes twinkling with warmth.
Just then, Soda bounded into the kitchen, his energy infectious as he ruffled Darry's hair in passing. "Morning, you two lovebirds!" he teased, flashing a grin before helping himself to a slice of toast.
Darry chuckled softly, his eyes alight with affection as he watched Soda's playful antics. "Morning, Soda," he greeted, his voice warm with brotherly fondness.
Soda winked mischievously at Darry before turning his attention to you, his grin widening as he took in the sight of you bustling around the kitchen. "Y/N, you're a lifesaver," he declared, grabbing another slice of toast from the counter. "I don't know what we'd do without you."
You laughed softly, the sound like music to Darry's ears as he felt a swell of pride for the woman he loved. "Just doing my part," you replied with a playful wink, your eyes meeting Darry's briefly before returning to your task.
As you continued to work, Darry couldn't tear his gaze away from you. With each small gesture, each tender smile, his love for you swelled within his chest, threatening to burst free. It was moments like these, the simple, everyday interactions shared between the three of you, that filled Darry with a profound sense of gratitude and contentment.
Surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, Darry knew with a certainty that resonated deep within his soul – he wanted to spend the rest of his life by your side, cherishing every moment, every laugh, and every small gesture of love that you shared. And as he watched you move about the kitchen, his heart overflowed with love and adoration for the incredible woman who had stolen his heart.
And then, as if on cue, Ponyboy entered the kitchen, a furrow of concentration marring his brow as he pored over a math problem in his textbook. Sensing his frustration, you approached him, offering a reassuring smile. "Need a hand, Pony?" you asked, your voice gentle and encouraging.
Ponyboy looked up, relief flooding his features as he nodded. "Yeah, I just can't seem to figure this one out," he admitted sheepishly.
You leaned in closer, studying the problem with a furrowed brow of your own. "Ah, I see where you're getting tripped up. Let me show you a trick that might help," you offered, your voice a soothing melody in the quiet of the morning.
As you patiently explained the concept to Ponyboy, Darry felt that surge of pride and adoration. The way you broke down the problem into manageable steps, your voice soft and reassuring, spoke volumes about your patience and compassion. In that simple act of offering your help and guidance, Darry saw the depth of your kindness and the strength of your character. It wasn't just about helping Ponyboy with his math; it was about the genuine care and concern you showed for him, for all of them. As he watched you with a sense of awe, he knew deep within his soul that he wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his life by your side, cherishing every moment, and building a future together filled with love and laughter.
As Soda finished his toast, grabbed his lunch, and prepared to head out the door, he leaned in close to Darry, his voice barely above a whisper amidst the morning bustle of the kitchen. "You know, big brother," he said, a mischievous glint dancing in his eyes, "we couldn't do it without her. You gotta marry her."
Darry blinked, momentarily taken aback by Soda's sudden seriousness. He met his brother's gaze, seeing the sincerity in his eyes mirrored by the weight of his words. For a moment, the playful banter faded, replaced by a shared understanding of just how much you meant to them all.
A swell of emotion rose within Darry, a mixture of gratitude, love, and a hint of apprehension at the thought of such a monumental step. But as he glanced back at you, effortlessly moving about the kitchen with a grace that never failed to astound him, he knew with a certainty that settled deep within his soul – Soda was right.
With a silent nod of acknowledgment to his brother, Darry watched as Soda headed out the door, his words lingering in the air like a gentle breeze. And as he turned back to you, a newfound sense of purpose filled his heart, a determination to show you just how much you meant to him, not just in words, but in deeds.
Amidst the chaos of their everyday lives, Darry knew that there was no one else he would rather spend the rest of his days with than you. And as he caught your eye, a soft smile tugging at the corners of his lips, he silently made a promise to himself – to cherish you, to protect you, and to love you with every fiber of his being, now and forever.
After Ponyboy left the kitchen to get ready for school, the room fell into a comfortable silence, leaving just the two of you alone. Darry's arms enveloped you, pulling you close in a tender embrace that spoke volumes of his love.
"I don't know what I'd do without you," Darry murmured, his voice soft with emotion as he pressed his forehead against yours.
You smiled, feeling the warmth of his breath against your skin. "You'd manage just fine," you replied, your voice barely above a whisper. "But I'm glad I can be here for you, for all of you."
Darry's gaze softened, his eyes reflecting the depth of his feelings. "You're more than just my girlfriend, Y/N," he whispered, his lips brushing against yours in a gentle caress. "You're my everything."
Tears welled in your eyes, overwhelmed by the intensity of his words. "And you're mine," you breathed, sealing your love with a soft kiss that spoke volumes of the bond you shared.
As you stood entwined in each other's arms, you knew that no matter what trials life threw your way, you would face them together, united in a love that knew no bounds. And as Darry pressed another tender kiss to your forehead, you silently vowed to cherish each moment with him for eternity, grateful beyond measure for the love that filled your heart.
The Proposal
As the evening sun painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, a sense of anticipation filled the Curtis household. Tonight, was no ordinary night – tonight, Darry had something special planned, and he had enlisted the help of Ponyboy, Soda, Two-Bit, and Steve to make it truly unforgettable.
Ponyboy, with his earnest enthusiasm, had insisted that you wear something special for the occasion. He had spent the afternoon rummaging through his meager wardrobe, determined to find the perfect accessory to complement your beauty. Finally, he emerged triumphantly with a delicate silver necklace that was his mothers, a small pendant shaped like a sun dangling from the chain. "I thought it would bring you luck," he said with a shy smile, his cheeks flushed with excitement.
Soda, ever the romantic, had taken it upon himself to choose the perfect spot for the proposal. He had spent hours scouting locations around town, searching for a place that was as beautiful and special as you deserved. Finally, he settled on a secluded spot by the river, where the water sparkled in the moonlight and the stars danced overhead. "Trust me, this is the perfect spot," he assured Darry with a grin, knowing that it would be a moment you would never forget.
Two-Bit and Steve, always up for a bit of mischief, had taken on the task of setting the scene. They had decorated the proposal spot with lights and candles, creating a magical ambiance that would set the stage for Darry's declaration of love. Two-Bit leaned in close to Darry, a mischievous twinkle in his eye as he surveyed their handiwork. "We wanted to make it extra special for you," he explained with a grin, his voice laced with excitement. "You know, to really sweep her off her feet." He nudged Darry playfully, knowing that their efforts would add an extra touch of romance to the evening, making it a moment that neither Darry nor you would ever forget.
As the clock struck seven, Darry took your hand in his, a nervous yet determined smile playing on his lips. Together, you began to walk, the soft glow of the evening sun casting long shadows on the pavement as you made your way towards the proposal spot not too far away.
With each step, Darry's mind drifted back to the memories you had shared together, the moments that had brought you to this point. He pointed out landmarks along the way, each one holding a special significance in your relationship.
"Do you remember the first time we walked this path together?" Darry asked softly, his voice filled with warmth as he squeezed your hand gently. "It feels like a lifetime ago, doesn't it?"
You smiled, the memories flooding back as you walked hand in hand with him. "I remember," you replied, your voice tinged with nostalgia. "It's where we shared our first kiss."
"Those were some of the best moments of my life," you continued, your voice soft and filled with nostalgia. "Just being with you, sharing our dreams under the stars... it's something I'll always cherish."
As you walked hand in hand, each step carrying you closer to the proposal spot where your future awaited, you couldn't help but feel a rush of gratitude for the man beside you. In his simple gestures and heartfelt words, you found a love that was pure and unwavering, a love that filled your heart with joy and anticipation for the journey ahead. And as the echoes of your laughter mingled with the evening breeze, you knew that this moment would be etched in your memories forever, a testament to the love that had brought you to this beautiful place.
As you reached the river, the soft glow of lights and the flickering of candles cast a romantic ambiance over the scene. Darry's heart pounded with nervous excitement; his palms slightly clammy as he took in the sight before him. With each step, the weight of the ring box in his pocket seemed to grow heavier, but the love and determination in his heart only strengthened.
Taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, Darry turned to you, his eyes alight with affection and anticipation. The gentle glow of the lights seemed to dance in his gaze as he reached for your hand, his touch sending a shiver of excitement down your spine.
"Y/N," he began, his voice filled with emotion, "from the moment I met you, you've brought so much light into my life. You've been my rock, my confidante, my everything." His words were like music to your ears, each syllable filled with the depth of his love for you.
Tears of joy welled in your eyes as you listened to his heartfelt confession, your heart swelling with love for the man standing before you. The love and support radiating from him and the familiar faces of Ponyboy, Soda, Two-Bit, and Steve filled you with a sense of warmth and comfort, making this moment even more special.
"And now," Darry continued, his voice trembling slightly as he dropped to one knee, presenting the ring box with a flourish, "I want to spend the rest of my life making you as happy as you've made me." His eyes never wavered from yours, his gaze unwavering in its sincerity. "Y/N, will you marry me?"
Your breath caught in your throat as you gazed into his eyes, feeling as if the world had stopped spinning just for this moment. The weight of his words hung in the air, charged with emotion and anticipation, as you searched for the right words to express the overwhelming love and happiness that filled your heart.
With a trembling voice and tears of joy streaming down your cheeks, you nodded emphatically, unable to find the words to convey the depth of your love for him. "Yes, Darry," you whispered, your voice barely above a whisper, "a thousand times yes. In every single lifetime it’s a yes."
A radiant smile broke across Darry's face as he slipped the ring onto your finger, sealing your love with a tender kiss. Cheers and applause erupted from your friends, the sounds of their excitement mingling with the beating of your hearts as you embraced, knowing that this moment would be etched in your memories forever as the beginning of your journey together as husband and wife.

🩰 Dialogue 6 and 7 with Darry?
YEAHHHHH my typa shit💯💯
you sat on the edge of darry’s bed, an arm around your shoulder. tears were streaming down your face as you stared down at the ground.
things got overwhelming and you couldn’t hide it anymore. so, you broke down in front of the only man you felt comfortable with
darry wiped a tear away with his thumb, his fingers under your chin before he kissed your forehead. he wasn’t good with comfort, honestly.
“do you know how much i love you?”
your lips quivered as you tried to hold back another sob. blinking away the tears—you nodded. darry engulfed you in a hug, arms around your torso as he ran his fingers through your hair.
“i’m sorry, dare. i-i understand how uncomfortable you must be.”
“shut up. you never would. you feel like home, hon.”
he muttered before kissing the crown of your head.

thinking more about the Steviepop-adopting-Tex AU
another blurb from a longer draft lol- may or may not publish the whole thing soon, we’ll see. But just to keep ya updated since I am still crazy about it yk!
-
“I guess three places, for you, me, and Evie. You can have Soda’s food,” Steve decides. He reckons Soda’ll eat dinner in Tulsa with Darry and Two-Bit anyhow.
“Aw, I don’t needa eat- I brought some granola bars, so I’m okay. I ain’t gonna take yer space and yer food,” Tex chuckles.
Steve raises his eyebrows, another weird feeling washing over him- Jesus Christ, he remembers Johnny sayin’ that exact thing to him more than a decade ago.
At the time, he’d let him be, because Johnny always seemed so sure of himself.
But Steve’s older now.
“Kid, yer what, fifteen? You ain’t eatin’ granola bars for dinner,” Steve says authoritatively. “C’mon, it’s real good, I’m real good at this cookin’ thing, yeah?” he coaxes.
Tex opens his mouth as if to protest, but then changes his mind. “...Okay. If ya insist.”
“I do. ‘Sides,” Steve grins, “if Soda found out I didn’t feed his favorite coworker, I’d be completely in the doghouse. Get the real third-degree, that sorta thing.”
“I guess if it keeps ya outta trouble, I gotta, then,” Tex smiles. -
In this draft, Steve starts to better understand the Curtis parents, and grapples with the fact that he’s at a point in life where he’s relating more to adults than he is to the juvenile delinquents he used to be.
and yeah, Tex reminds him of Dally. I don’t say so in this blurb, but later on in the draft I get ‘round to it lol.

Thinking about one day Marcia asking two-bit if she should bleach her hair.
She was well aware of his preference for blondes, that fact constantly lingered in her thoughts whenever he affirmed that he loved her brown hair and he wasn't with her for that. But Marcia, one always striving for perfection, wanted to be everything Two-bit desired.
When she brought the idea up, expecting to take a trip to the drugstore later on that day, she couldn't even hide the smile on her face when he said how much he hated that idea. Because that's when it finally got through just how much he loved every part of her. Even with the chance to alter her to his 'preference' he still refused, stating how much he adored her brown hair and what isn't broken doesn't need fixing.
Is this the stupidest thing I’ve ever written OR the best I can’t decide, I’m really tired but I just needed to share some marbit content I hope it makes sense

Single parent Dallas in the cooler so he leaves his daughter with the Curtis brothers? 🥺 blurb plssss
aweee this is such a cute idea!!!! I can totally do this for u!!! 🎀🎀

• he hates leaving his little girl but he knew that darry was good with kids, especially after taking care of the gang for so long.
• his daughter would keep asking ponyboy and soda where daddy was and they would make up some stupid lie like “he…is uhm off at uhm camp!”
• and she obviously doesn’t believe them
• if you’ve ever watched modern family it reminds me of when pam was in prison so cam and mitch had to take care of cal (if u haven’t seen it google it)
• as much as darry loves her she is a picky eater so making dinner is hard
• she is so sassy and is always humbling them.
•but as soon as dallas is back she is acting like a perfect angel
•lets just say she gets a lot of time outs.
•their relationship also reminds me of the movie “big daddy”
• every Sunday they have movie night and well Dallas’s daughter gets to choose the movie EVERY TIME.
Ik this is short but im having some writers block 🤦♀️
