I ain’t posted much art this week cos I was focusing on my zine comic (which you should check out btw, it’ll be in @stay-gold-zine), but rest assured I’ve been drawing almost constantly lol. So here’s the lineart for this Tex drawing I’m working on (may or may not finish, but yk)

thinking about how tex spiraled so badly over mason going to the hospital for “tests” that he convinced himself his brother had cancer just for mason (A SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD BOY BY THE WAY) to come back and pick him up like “it’s just an ulcer.” not even darry got an ulcer. the mccormick brothers are out here doing it like no one else

Unpopular opinion: in the“Tex” movie, they should’ve left the part in where Tex and Mason get stoned.

Guys I’m actually Mason McCormick like words cannot explain how much I love him sm he’s so me. I’m literally Mason and my sister is Tex like we’re so them like we’re them reincarnated and no one can change my mind like bro me and him have the same name like we’re literally the same person like bro. He’s me and I am him. I connect with him on a personal level. I connect with him in a way that no one can ever connect with him. I’ve never connected with any character ever more than I do him. He’s my bbg princess and he can do no wrong

Was watching “Tex” w/ my cousin, here’s some of their interesting commentary:

“Maybe if they sold the brother Tex could buy back his horse”

“Jamie would probably not reject him if he just info dumped about horses. Tex is clearly autistic he needs to embrace it”

“Yeah Mason the solution to not being stressed is to just take it easy bro”

“Maybe if they sold the dad they could afford to put the horse through college”

“What if instead of expelling him she’s about to give him his horse back?” (A few seconds later) “OH MY GOD I WAS BASICALLY RIGHT”

(Imitating Tex, in a terrible attempt at an Oklahoma accent) “Oh no…not motorcycles…that reminds me of my hoooorrrrsssse…”

(Imitating Pop in the scene at the hospital) “See, the thing is kid, your mom…she was a horse…”

(Me, mishearing it as “whore”) “Damn, I mean, yeah??? I guess?”

“Jesus, that exploding typewriter prank would NOT fly nowadays”

(Me, nodding all sagely and shit) “Yeah…since we don’t use typewriters anymore”

“Do you think Cowboy hat suit guy (Cole) and Cowboy hat traditional guy (Pop) are epic rivals? Do you think they have enemies to lovers fics?”

(About Lem’s baby) “I just don’t think that babies need feet. I don’t consider babies to be people who need feet. I just feel disturbed, you know?”

(Me) “no, not really. I don’t…no. …Babies have feet.”

“Yeah yeah he got shot that’s bad- but OH NO NOT HIS BOOTS! NOT HIS JACKET! NOOO HE’S GETTING BLOOD ON THEM…NOOO…”

“A good excuse to reconnect with your ex is to get shot- gives you a good reason to call them. Good job Tex”

(In the scene where Tex and Johnny are fighting) “Ooh sweet crop top and cowboy belt- I see ya jock from Breakfast Club, I see ya”

“Maybe…a cowhorse…is like the kinda horse cowboys ride?”

(Me) “Uh…yeah, it’s a horse that herds cows…what did you think it was??”

“A horse-cow-hybrid thing”

(Me, legit shocked) “wHAT?!”

(My sister) “Uh yeah I thought that too”

(Other cousin) “yeah no same”

(Me) “y’all are uncultured”

(cousin) “Naw you’re just a weird horse nerd.

Bonus, from my other cousin: “oh my god Tex is so stupid”

My sister: “Yeah, but in like a lovable way! I’d wanna hang out with him, he’s nice!”

me, more darkly than is warranted: “Yeah, plus, your face is stupid man”

there’s something so important to me about the part of the twttin dance scene where ponyboy takes his jacket off and puts it on mark and tells bryon he’s in shock. and it’s not from ponyboy’s point of view, so we don’t get to see his thoughts: how he knows what mark is going through because he went through it himself when johnny died. to when they found johnny in the park, his face bleeding from the socs’ rings. pony’s thinking how he’s not even that close to mark and doesn’t even necessarily like him all that much but mark is his friend, and oh god, is he about to lose another friend? he thinks how wow, this kid laying here on the asphalt bleeding looks a little like dally did that night he died. a little crazed and a little scared. he’s thinking all these things as he takes dally’s leather jacket with the burned sleeves off his own back and lays it over mark while they wait for the ambulance, and he looks at bryon, at mark’s best friend and pseudo-brother looking down at the kid, and pony wonders if that’s what darry and soda looked like when he passed out in the street the night their friends died.
