Whatever you do don't think about the Curtis brothers missing their parents
Don't think about Ponyboy on the train to windrixville wishing he could hug his mom and have her tell him it was going to be okay
Don't think about Darry after he hit Ponyboy wishing it had been his father who stayed up late to wait for pony cause he would have handled it better
Don't think about Soda after pony ran away and Sandy left wishing he could hug his mom and talk to his dad
Don't think about how when Johnny died and pony got sick, the thing pony wanted the most was his mom
Don't think about Darry seeing his little brothers struggling and wishing his parents could tell him what to do
Don't think about Soda listening to his brothers fight and wishing his parents were there to break it up
Whatever you do don't think about how much those three boys missed their mom and dad

ponyboy shifts in his seat, twisting into himself in the way he would have years ago. years before the fountain, before the train tracks, before they had to grow up.
if he closes his eyes, it’s almost like his mother’s still there. still holding him the way she used to, before.
he can imagine his father, sat in the recliner darry now occupies, doing the crossword or reading the newspaper and smiling at something somebody said.
he can picture sodapop and darry play fighting on the ground, while his mother laughs and tells them to be careful.
but he opens his eyes again and leans his head back down into sodapop’s lap; who is running a distracted hand through his hair, sighing through his nose. darry sits in the recliner, grumbling about heating prices and drinking his already cold cup of coffee.
it’s not before, it’s now. and now is pretty good.

If your ever having a bad day just remember your not Darrel Curtis having to read his younger brothers theme where he’s called heartless and a bitch a hundred times per page while his other brother is being called hot and perfect every time he’s mentioned

I KNOW PONY SAID "OUR FATHER WAS AN ORIGINAL GUY" BUT REALLY?? SODA AND PONYBOY. NO ONE NAMES THEIR KIDS LIKE THAT (NO ONE SHOULD)
YOU KNOW WHAT THOSE NAMES SOUND LIKE? THE KIND OF NAMES A 3 YEAR OLD WOULD CHOSE.
NOW IMAGINE, 3 YEAR OLD DARREL, HOLDING HIS FATHER'S HAND AS THEY WALK INSIDE OF THE HOSPITAL ROOM. HIS FATHER HOLDS HIM UP SO HE CAN SEE HIS MOTHER IN THE BED. HE HAD BEEN EXPECTING THE BABY FOR SO LONG NOW. AND HE SEES HIM, HIS LITTLE BROTHER, ALL RED AND SMALL IN HIS MOTHER'S ARMS. HIS FATHER ASKS HIM: "THIS IS YOUR LITTLE BROTHER, WHAT DO YOU WANT TO NAME HIM?"
AND HE SAYS SODA. AND WHEN IT'S PONY'S BIRTH, IT'S SODA'S TURN TO CHOSE AND THAT KID IS SO HORSE OBSESSED HE COMES UP WITH PONYBOY.

Random headcanon
Like imagine Darry being like 15 or so was assigned reading Romeo and Juliet for English
One day the book was just gone. Darry is just freaking out and tearing the place apart
But then he goes to Pony’s room and there is nine year old Ponyboy with the book in his hands
Darry is just so annoyed and confused because surely a 4th grader couldn’t understand Shakespeare? Why would Ponyboy take it?
But no he opens it to see the book was filled with Pony’s 4th grade writing in the margins
Darry is just infuriated because not only Ponyboy stole his book but wrote in it…
Time to bring in the parents
Mr. Curtis gave Ponyboy the lecture of not touching your older siblings belongings blah blah
But Mrs. Curtis looked closer at the book and realized Ponyboy wasn’t just writing random stuff, that boy was annotating it
Pointing out literary devices most fourth graders wouldn’t know like motifs, anaphoras, symbolism, epistrophes
The themes of the novel and motivation of the characters
That was the moment she realized that perhaps she should talk to Ponyboy’s teachers about putting him in some of the higher level classes

Something that definitely happened:
Little Soda: What is that? *gesturing towards a newly born Ponyboy*
Mrs. Curtis: That's your little brother, dear.
Little Darry: I'm not related to that thing, he looks like a potato. I don't want to be a double older brother, take him back to the store!

i feel like whenever darry’s had an actual filling meal he just gets so cuddly-he doesn’t like asking his brothers for cuddles but he latches onto his pillows. soda walked in on darry wrapped like a koala around a pillow after dinner and him and pony just crawled into bed with him and snuggled the hell out of him because they’re happy he’s eating more

It’s that time again yall
Headcanons! It’s a long one this time
Emetophobia tw
- (I think I can classify this as modern) Rip sodapop curtis you would’ve loved saying “I’m just a girl 🎀”
- Soda never liked haircuts. When he was a small feral child his long hair would get tangled a lot, but he’s tender headed as FUCK so he would scream and cry when his momma brought the brush out. Darry put sodas hair into braids sometimes just for fun and soda didn’t mind bc it kept his hair from getting tangled, and then it didn’t hurt to brush. He’s always had really soft hair and it grows super fast.
- Jealous little soda asksjks (this was about soda being jealous over pony getting attention as a baby but I don’t wanna edit the original ramble I wrote down)
- When ponyboy was born he just kind of STARED. No crying or anything just 👁️👁️. Even Darry cried when he was born. Soda cried a lot.
- Adding on, Darry and pony were pretty quiet babies. They still cried for food and stuff sometimes but not a lot. Soda was a LOUDDD crier, and a frequent one too. It was the type of crying that sounds like it hurts the baby’s throat cause they’re shrieking their head off. Also soda would cry for, like, the first year of his life if he was ever handed to his dad.
- If Johnny survived the fire and got a wheelchair, he’d be running over people’s feet. Constantly. Just because. Or bc they asked for it. Either way, the moment he gets a hang of that wheelchair it is OVER for yall. And probably before that too.
- Ponyboy gets the same. Goddamn. Thing. At EVERY restaurant. Partly because it scares him to order anything else, partly because he’s picky asf. He makes sure it’s there on the menu and has his order memorized by now. “Chicken tenders, fries, and a Pepsi please.” He’s tried to ask for other things in the past like eggs, cuz he likes those, but the moment they asked him “how would you like them done” he just stared at Darry because he didn’t know what all the different types of eggs were, and now he’s scared bc he’s taking longer, and the server is still there, so he just got sunny side up eggs and they were slimy and he wanted to go home and cry (based on a true story sadly)
- Basically pony has anxiety and probably autism (so me)
- Ponyboy likes avocado. That’s it that’s the headcanon. It’s like one of the only healthy-ish things he’ll eat.
- Soda gets suuuper nauseous really easily, and pony gets carsick on occasion. So the first time pony went to a theme park, his family was scared that he would throw up like soda. They go on a ride and he’s like “yall im fine dawg.” Soda is jealous bc pony can go on rides unaffected (soda will still go on rides anyways, he just throws up afterwards)
- Pony is the most PALE ASS BITCH you’ve ever seen. He burns soo easily. His face gets red really quickly, no matter what’s going on. The only time he gets the slightest bit darker is when he burns and tans. Two-bit has been like “you ain’t white you translucent” multiple times because in the right lighting you can see pony’s veins. It’s even worse because soda and Darry tan so wonderfully, and pony looks like he had an allergic reaction if he doesn’t reapply his sunscreen when he’s supposed to. I feel like Mrs Curtis is the reason for this, she didn’t tan. Mr Curtis did tho.
- Pony has mild (severe) ocd
- Marcia’s last name is smith she is white-Hispanic on one side and Native American on the other thank you for coming to my TED talk
- Marcia is Cuban and Native American
- Marcia’s full name is Marcia smith that’s it that’s the end
It’s funny cuz I listed these things like three times and just forgot about the other two
- Twobit is Brazilian end headcanon
- Mr Curtis had autism and Mrs Curtis had inattentive adhd
- Mr Curtis was half Mexican on his mom’s side and half Irish on his dad’s side. Mrs Curtis was full Italian-American.
- Darrys the typa guy to make pony and soda turn off a show or movie if it talks about possession or like demonic stuff/soul stealing stuff
- (Modern au) Darry will get a text from ponyboy about something, like “can I go in your room rq” and he sees it but doesn’t actually open the text message until later and like, two hours later he’ll just respond “no” and thinks it’s the funniest shit ever

Sebastian Stan Talks ‘The Apprentice’s Uphill Battle, Double Golden Globe Nomination, Lily James Reteam ‘Let The Evil Go West’ & Upcoming Cristian Mungiu & Justin Kurzel Projects
By Matt Grobar
Tumblr media
On Monday, Sebastian Stan pulled off a rare feat, scoring Golden Globe nominations for Lead Actor in both Drama and Musical/Comedy categories. Following the announcement, Stan got candid about upcoming projects with Cristian Mungiu, Christian Tafdrup and Justin Kurzel, his experience on the awards circuit with his nominated turn as Donald Trump in The Apprentice, and more.
In discussing his upcoming slate, Stan seemed particularly excited about a project not yet announced with Cristian Mungiu, the Romanian filmmaker behind Palme d’Or winner 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, which he expects to shoot next year.
“I was born in Romania. I still speak the language, and I’ve been trying to find a project where I can go back and tap back into that history that I have,” said the actor, “so I’m excited about working with him, and hopefully that’s going to come together.”
A second project on the docket is Let the Evil Go West, a horror thriller from buzzy Danish filmmaker Christian Tafdrup, which reunites him with Pam & Tommy‘s Lily James. The film centers on a railroad worker driven to madness after coming upon a fortune, and his wife, who believes an evil presence has attached itself to their family.
Stan came to the project after seeing Tafdrup’s “unbelievable” horror thriller Speak No Evil, which Universal just remade. “This is a project that’s been going on for a while, and it always gets tricky. It’s about finding the right scheduling and the right time to do it,” said the actor. “But that’s something I’m really excited about.”
While he didn’t get into details, Stan also confirmed that he’s attached to star in Burning Rainbow Farm, a film that The Order‘s Justin Kurzel has in development. Plot details are unconfirmed, but we hear it’s inspired by true events, involving two marijuana advocates who face off against the FBI in a tense five-day standoff in Michigan, culminating in tragedy just days before 9/11.
Stan’s Globe nominations this morning came for Briarcliff’s The Apprentice, which examines Trump’s rise in the 1970s and 1980s New York real estate scene, as well as A24’s A Different Man. Hailing from filmmaker Aaron Schimberg, that title has him playing a man with a disfigurement who undergoes an experimental facial reconstruction surgery, before spiraling into a psychological crisis.
“Stunned and incredibly ecstatic,” Stan shared that the nominations are gratifying given the risks he took with each project and the uphill battles faced with each — The Apprentice, in particular, which struggled to secure financing, and later, distribution, amid the threat of a lawsuit from Trump himself. The project is one Hollywood didn’t seem to know what to do with, both leading up to and in the aftermath of a polarizing, pivotal election.
Sharing that he had “extreme trepidations” about playing Trump — in part, because many in the industry advised him not to — Stan reflected this morning about a disclosure of his that went viral: that while he intended to appear on Variety’s video series Actors on Actors in support of The Apprentice, no actor would step up to talk with him about his project, presumably out of fear of saying the wrong thing.
“For me, the Variety thing was just unfortunately another example of the uphill battle that the movie had been facing since Cannes, that there was some hesitancy and some fear around it…But it wasn’t my intention to point a finger or blame anybody else,” Stan said. “It was just simply saying, ‘Hey, we should be mindful of things that feel fearful.’ Because as artists, we have to hold ourselves as sort of the ambassadors of the truth, in a way…Today, of course, is a big day, in terms of hopefully allowing people to feel like they have permission, to talk about this film, and look at the work and have a conversation about it.”
From Stan’s perspective, we as a society need “all kinds of movies” and “have to try to not ever discriminate against any movie,” even if it’s something as polarizing as The Apprentice. In terms of the current climate of fear among Hollywood stars, when it comes to addressing certain topics, Stan’s feeling is that “there’s always a conversation that we can have about the work and what goes into it.”
A recent speech on Stan’s mind, when it comes to this, is the one given by honoree Richard Curtis at the Governors Awards. “He went up there and said, ‘Look, I am grateful to be standing up here and be recognized this evening. Buts also, I want to say, we love good ideas and we love embracing good ideas, but we also have to follow through on the action of it, even when you get to the last one-yard line, trying to get past it,'” the actor recalls. “Because I know the intentions are always good, and I believe that movies can inspire. I think they can reveal things sometimes that we have a hard time maybe understanding or communicating about in day-to-day life.”
In reflecting on the bold and diverse resume he’s carved out over the last decade-plus, Stan gave credit to his “Marvel family” for being an “incredibly supportive,” consistent presence in his life over the last 15 years, which has allowed him to “go out there and find other projects that allow me to kind of change it up and challenge myself.”
This, he says, is what he wants more than anything. “I’ve always tried to find other actors to learn from and grow from, and I want to be part of something meaningful,” Stan says, “and maybe that’s just me getting older. You want the work to have meaning and to stand for something.”

Sodapop headcanon
Sodapop was the social butterfly of the Curtis brothers okay
Like once that boy hit kindergarten, Mrs and Mr. Curtis would have to pull up extra chairs because Soda would have a different friend over each day
First it was Steve
They met in first and Soda accidentally broke his favorite matchbox car
Steve immediately fixed it and it was Soda was just “I’m taking this one home”
Steve and Soda talk like they knew each other for years okay
Nine year old Darry is just “oh no it’s two of them”
Three year old Ponyboy threw his cup at Steve because Soda wasn’t paying him enough attention, thus starting the rivalry
But Mrs. Curtis and Mr. Curtis adored Steve
The next day Sodapop meets the little kindergartener Johnny Cade under a tree just playing by himself
Like Johnny is just go away as Soda skips towards him
Johnny just wants to make mud pies and play with the pill bugs
But Soda is just nah I’m taking you home too for homemade cookies and milk
Johnny agrees of course because well cookies
Pony believes Soda brought Johnny home for him as Johnny was closer to his size
Now Pony wants to be all nice and sweet and gives Johnny a pretty rock he found on the playground
Johnny keeps that rock for life
Mr. Curtis is just “Wait where did this one come from?” as they sat for dinner
Mrs. Curtis packs extra snacks for Johnny to take home
