I see a lot of muddied stuff about Valtor, the Ancestral Witches and the timeline on the events before Domino's fall so I'm gonna translate the original italian dialogue of S3E7 to clear it once for all and let you make your own conclusions about plot holes and all
Faragonda: What I want to tell you is the history of an ancient battle. What you see here is the Company of Light in its greatest battle, the one against Valtor. Valtor wasn't a normal sorcerer, when the Great Dragon created the universe, a spark of his flame fell into darkness. Darkness mixed with the power of the flame and that's when the Ancestral Witches found it Bloom: The Ancestral Witches? Do you mean the Trix' ancestors? Faragonda: Yes. They shaped that flame in human form, Valtor was his name. They raised him and once he was an adult they sent him to conquer the magical dimensions. Bloom: But who were these heroes? What was the Company of Light? Faragonda: It was a brave team, there were the best knights, fairies and wizards. It was founded by Marion and Oritel, your parents Bloom: They founded the Company of Light to fight against the Ancestresses, right? Faragonda: Correct! When the Ancestresses destroyed your world, Domino, your parents thought you had also disappeared in that catastrophe. And then they understood that evil had to be stopped. Bloom: I'm sorry, but how do you know all this? (Bloom is being very polite but it's untranslateable) Faragonda: It's simple Bloom, because I was also part of that Company alongside Principal Griffin and Professor Saladin. To repress the forces of evil, we fought Valtor all together! Bloom: And then? What happened, you trapped him in the Omega dimension? Faragonda: It was your parents who did that. The other warriors of the Company were defeated. They used their last strength to imprison Valtor, but the price to pay was very high, because Marion and Oritel did not come back.
So from this we know that:
The darkness mixed with the spark called the Ancestral Witches
Valtor grew like a normal human being, from baby to adulthood and he was raised and groomed by the Ancestral Witches from the start.
The Ancestral Witches are the Trix' ancestors. Period. Why is this even a debate
The war against the Ancestral Witches started years before Bloom was even born, but the Company of Light was created specifically by Oritel and Marion. How long had Darkar been reigning this war? How long have the Ancestral Witches been haunting Domino?
Valtor has a body count. There's dead warriors from the Company that we don't know of. We do know that there were few survivors from Faragonda's testimony. Oritel and Marion counted as MIA
Bloom was sent to Earth before Domino's inhabitants and all life itself were sucked into Obsidian? This means that Oritel and Marion saw Daphne's death but couldn't find Bloom's remains, if they assumed Bloom had disappeared and left this testimony to others (Faragonda). By the time Valtor was banished Daphne was already dead. EDIT: this was confirmed back in Season 1, except it was told it was "self exhile" for thinking both of their daughters had died. Therefore they willingly went into a suicide mission after they thought they had nothing to lose
#winx club#winx canon#localization#season 3#s3e7#long post#anybody saying sirenix curse retcon will be asskicked. that thing doesnt exist#let daphne's sacrifice mean something

Hey, I like you all. (Shows my main Winx Club Oc). I do have some actual art of her but none that are character sheets (yet) so y’all get fake screenshots for now.
~Name: Iorda Fey-Carey
~Age: 16 as of season 1
~Class: Fairy
~Title: Fairy of Dark Arts
•••
~Lore:
• While the Company of Light fought against the Ancestral Witches (after defeating Valtor) the reason they were so powerful and why they were so hard to defeat was that they (unlike Darkar, and other magical enemies/creatures) did not have a magical balance
• Previously they did, due to one of my own other characters, Almah (the previous Fairy of Dark Arts) existing.
• Though they killed Almah before the battle against the Company of Light, and she was doomed to exists as a spirit because her soul couldn’t rest. (Same as Daphne’s fate, and spirits with unfinished work is actually common in the Magical Demension). Almah’s spirit soon mentored Iorda in the events of season 1
• Lilith (one of the Ancestors) made sure no one remembered Almah existed
• When the Ancestors were defeated the Company of Light (in order to make sure future descendants of the Ancestors did not wreak havoc, or should they come back) merged a small remainder of one of the Ancestor’s magic (Lilith, specifically Darcy’s ancestor) with some of their own in a powerful convergence spell, and that combined energy just went around non-sentiently until it made its way to Iorda
• Iorda without the combined magic by chance making its way to her would’ve been a human, but the magic was strong enough to manifest her into a fairy (as was the intention of the spell, ie, a fairy to balance the Ancestral Witches)
• The spirit of Almah communicates through the dreams back in Earth, and soon Iorda’s magic manifests (not transforming yet.) After convincing her family, Iorda uses the special spell (girl had to run around to collect a lot of things for it) Almah told her to use to open a portal to Magix
• Iorda arrives in Magix and, with the limited information Almah told her (on purpose—Almah could see Iorda’s future, and it sure wasn’t pretty, so she wouldn’t let her run away from her fate) went to Alfea
• But since Iorda has mainly Lilith’s magic, Miss Griselda thought she was a witch. Before Almah was killed she was a student at Alfea and was killed when three witches (the Ancestors in disguise) snuck into Alfea and killed Almah. Griselda and Faragonda still existed at this time, just beginning teaching at the school
•Iorda is turned away and decides to just go to Cloud Tower. She needs to learn magic and she isn’t above going to a school for witches. She runs into Mirta and the two walk to Cloud Tower together
• Iorda during the time of season 1 meets several other witches besides Mirta and Lucy, who are really nice people, and they form a group called the Nyx
• These witches are Pyris (witch of disguise and deception, eventually Iorda’s girlfriend at the end of season 1)
• Lucina (witch of blood)
• And Nith (witch of water and ice)
• The events of season 1 on the Winx’s side goes on as usual, but during that time Iorda disrupts the Trix’s plans because she just isn’t going to let them hurt the people at Alfea—where she would have gone to
• She stops them from stealing the ring during the dance but later returns it when Iorda runs into Musa while she is racing away from the witches after slapping Icy
• Towards the end of season 1, Pyris (Headmistress Griffins granddaughter) tells Iorda about a tomb. It holds the access to the Whisperian Crystals (that were sealed by the Company of Light, only to be opened by the balance they created) because they were the primary weopans of the Ancestors
• Long story short, Iorda opened tomb, Pryis reveals information, Iorda is overcome with stress and shock. Iorda has the power of the Whisperian Crystals inside her and of cource they get stolen by the Trix (not her magic, they’re just like, we can do that later)
• This replaces the Trix stealing Blooms magic (gurl gets spotlight in season 2 & 3 though)
• The fight against the Army of Decay goes on as normal
• And so on, Iorda (being the Trix’s balance and all since they are the decendants of the Ancestral Witches) faces a lot of turmoil as the Trix want her kind of dead
• Then at the time of season 6 they just want Iorda to suffer because, as determined she is, Iorda is a little sh!t who was messed with their plans one too many times (I mean it’s her job)
• Probably more information about her, the Nyx, and other things to follow XD

Rewriting some of the Winx Club villains (for fun)
I actually had a fun time with rewriting the Winx, and it seemed to have gotten positive reception! Thus, I thought I'd do rewrites for some of the Winx Club villains. Just like with my last post, this is NOT a "what would've made them better" post, but just my own interpretation of the characters based on the show (mainly the first 4 seasons as applicable) and some of the comics. And since I never did a post about recasting the villains (I only did so with the Winx and the Specialists), I'll include my dream voice cast here. Enjoy!
Ancestral Witches--In my rewrite, there's only one ancestral witch; I feel like it fits the primordial vibe more, but this is also because the witches don't have distinct personalities, and the Trix claim descent from all three of them, but this feels like they were moreso their reincarnations than their ancestors (though it could be both). This sole witch would be named Carabosse, named after the wicked fairy the Ancestral Witches are based on. She is created by Darkar as the first evil mortal (albeit with an extended lifespan due to magic, both hers and Darkar's), but she isn't his servant; she's his consort, and they exist as a twisted version of Hades and Persephone from Greek Mythology. Rather than having the same powers as the Trix, Carabosse has the ability of corruption, being the first mortal queen in the magical dimension (and ever, probably), and seen as doing her husband's dream of spreading evil throughout the world. The descendant of the holders of the dragon spark, Oritel, formed the Company of Light to defeat her, but they only managed in destroying her physical body, with her spirit still lingering. She is the first witch, as you may have guessed, and even in death, we are never truly rid of her, due to her divine marriage and long-forgotten magic that makes her influence permeate the most evil parts of the magic dimension.
I'd imagine she dressed in dark blue/black with orange-red gems and patterns, almost like she's made of lava. My ideal voice actor for her would be Colleen Wheeler, who did an AMAZING job of playing Mystique in "X-Men: Evolution."
The Trix--No need for introduction, the sisters of the Ice Kingdom are the most persistent villains in the series. In my rewrite, their realm wouldn't be known as the Ice Kingdom (since it kinda discards Darcy and Stormy, but Distorsione, Italian for distortion), said to be the base of Queen Carabosse. You'd think that being descended from her would offer the Trix some leverage, but the royal family has much closer ties to her while the Trix are distant relatives. The people there are reserved and standoffish, but not necessarily evil, though the Trix essentially ruin that perception and now it's a demonized location in the magical dimension. It's confirmed that the Trix are triplets and were abandoned by their family for the perceived threat they could pose in the future, and upon discovering this, they vowed to take over the magical dimension and retake what they believe to be their birthright. And it's worth noting that for most of the first season, no one knows who they are when they attack the winx; they have a "Superman" thing going on because of the makeup and clothes change; when in disguise, they dress similarly to their fairy disguises in issue #123 of the comic.
Icy has an on-and-off romance with Darko throughout the series (it's implied that they could've been something positive, but Icy is too focused on power and is willing to mistreat Darko, who, despite having his own issues, cared about Icy but is now mainly just courting her for potential power that he could wield as her consort). She also has a distaste for Bloom, given their powers are polar opposites, as well as the fact that Bloom was automatically revered for her potential while Icy was discarded for it. She also takes particular interest in tormenting Flora and Ariel (my rewritten version of Roxy), since I'd canonize the 4kids statement that she derives power from dead planets, and the fact that she doesn't really have any particular respect for animals and plants. I'd probably base her design on Taylor Swift, particularly during her "Reputation" era. I know the Trix weren't based on celebrities, but I thought it'd be a nice touch. I'd I'd like her to be voiced by Salli Saffioti, since I really liked her performance as Cleo de Nile on Gen 1 and 2 of "Monster High," albeit something a bit less regal. As usual, she wears shades of blue, though I like the idea that she keeps the lighter/brighter tones for her witch look that she does in her civilian clothes.
Darcy is the middle triplet, and is quite interesting due to her relationships with others. While Icy is somewhat conflicting with how she feels about others, sometimes abusing them and sometimes praising and adoring them, Darcy cares about others but believes that abusing them is the best way to show it (influenced by her abandonment and the fact that she's been lied to a lot by people who claimed to care about her growing up). She's attracted to danger and doesn't really understand the typical concepts of love and care, which Icy jokes is influenced by her power over darkness, which will prevent her from ever seeing the light. She often takes delight in torturing Stella with darkness and causing friction between Musa and Riven--she even tells Musa that they can share Riven; Darcy takes the evil half and Musa takes the good half, even going as far as to offer splitting them into two separate people, but Musa points out the unethical boundaries of that (duh) and how her love for Riven meant that she loved him in spite of his flaws and wanted to help him improve on his faults, but only if he recognized them as so. This perplexes Darcy, who has a similar corrupting power to Carabossa (albeit much less powerful) and she believes that she must change those who don't like her or think like her. I'd base her appearance on Olivia Rodrigo, and also have her voiced by Tasia Valenza, since I enjoyed her performance as Poison Ivy in the "Batman: Arkham" video game series, and I feel like her deeper voice captures Darcy well (4kids bias).
Stormy, being the baby triplet, is often left the hand-me-downs of her sisters and is the most mysterious, despite sharing her sisters' interest in chaos and power-seeking. Unlike the more composed Trix, Stormy is much more upfront and aggressive, not usually bothering with manipulation unless she thought it could stir up an immediate reaction. She doesn't really have a love interest, but she does note that if things fell apart for Stella and Brandon, she could pick up the pieces and "see which way the storm blows." I'd also see her as the Trix member who's most likely to choose physical violence (in contrast to Icy, who's most likely to rely on her magic), and feels like she has the most to prove, insecure and afraid that she and her sisters were discarded because of her (being the only one who's powers were apparent and uncontrollable from a young age). She also has it out for Aisha and Tecna, as storms know how to stoke an ocean's ire, and can cause blackouts. I'd base her appearance off of Tate Mcrae, with her voicework being done by Selah Victor, AKA Chloe Bourgeois from "Miraculous Ladybug."
Diaspro--Just to be clear, I'm keeping the "Sky and Brandon swapped identities" subplot, but this lie is revealed BEFORE Bloom and Sky get together. It's also revealed that both Sky and Diaspro are political pawns; they were childhood friends, and when it was revealed that Diaspro was a fairy of gemstones (what's with "the"? Can't there be more fairies like her?), she was betrothed to Sky under the belief that her wealth would enrich Erakylon. While Diaspro submitted to this--being from a poor family and "encouraged" by her relatives to accept the betrothal--she became cruel and callous due to the political games she had to play, as well as never wanting to go back to poverty. She had a crush on Sky, and the betrothal heightened this, but she failed to realize he didn't feel the same, as he became more withdrawn when the betrothal became official. Since he was doing his duty as a prince, he tried to submit to his family's wishes, but rebelled when he developed a crush on Bloom, as well as making friends with the Winx and the Specialists. Diaspro misinterprets this as his friends talking him out of marrying her, and she lashes out at them and tries to tear them apart. Sky is the only one who has sympathy for her at first, and eventually all his friends realize she was dealt a bad hand in life. Until it's revealed Bloom is a princess with the power of the dragon flame (she's originally just said to be a fire fairy to protect her), Sky and Diaspro go through with the illusion that they're engaged. When it breaks off, Diapsro's family has been compensated and rises to the noble ranks, but they still want more. Diapsro informs Sky of their plotting, and she pretends to continue to be villainous to her family and other villains, acting as a double agent for the Winx and the Specialists without turning anyone against her. For her design, I'd base her on Ariana Grande (for obvious reasons), and surprisingly have her voice by Ellen Wong; I think her sweetness as Knives Chau would be great for Diaspro's vulnerability, and it'd be fun to see her act stuck-up. I'd also give her an outfit reminiscent of blue labradorite (you'll recall with my rewrite of Bloom I'd give her a black base with colorful accents reminiscent of the cosmos).
Darkar--Much the same, the dark dragon that contrasts with the great dragon that created the world. I'd make him a bit more nuanced, with his nature being chaos rather than outright evil. In fact, to make him different from other Winx villains, I'll make him lawful evil--which is the Dungeons & Dragons way of saying he's a bad guy who follows the rules. These "rules" would essentially be the laws of nature, that light cannot exist without darkness and vice versa, but one can reign over the other. With his wife gone, he sees the Trix as his daughters/granddaughters (and they are his descendants) and attempts to teach them his ways--though they are puzzled by his lack of unecessary cruelty and restraint, as well as his respect for those who align with good. He reveals that his wife was not constrained by the rules that governed him, and that is likely why the Trix act they way they do. He's also known as the "shadow phoenix" because he'll always be reborn, and there will be an age of darkness once more, and Bloom's descendants (or another descendant who holds the dragon flame; Bloom's extended family is sizeable) will fall into their grasp. Plus Bloom's witch heritage makes her fall into his distortion, bringing out the duality of the dragon flame, both light and shadow. I'd love for him to have a larger-than-life deity appearance to him, and taking inspiration from X-Men's "Dark Phoenix" arc feels natural--thinking on it now, they may have already done that. For his great voice acting as Trigon, I'd love for Kevin Michael Richardson to play him--though Paul St. Peter is a close second.
Valtor--He's iconic as-is and the greatest Winx villain (partially because of how involved he is in every episode, in contrast to previous villains), but I'd make a change to his origins; instead of an older being created from the dragon flame and raised by the Ancestral Witches, he's the biological son of Darkus and Carabossa. Similar to Diaspro, he was used as a pawn all his life, and is only slightly older than the Winx and Specialists. He essentially does everything the same in my book, but there is a sympathetic angle; he was designed to bring about the age of chaos Darkus foretold, and thus has been emotionally, psychologically, and physically abused by his caretakers (since his parents weren't physically around to raise him) until he became a beast of darkness. However, due to the fact that light cannot exist without darkness and vice versa, in a similar way to Bloom being made into Dark Bloom, Valtor is capable of love and light, albeit in a very standoffish, aloof way. Bloom recognizes his loneliness, and for a second it makes her reconsider wanting to be reunited with her own family, who she only knows through second-hand sources. With the power of the Winx, Bloom defeats Valtor, but instead of killing him, she uses her divine abilities to take some of the darkness in his heart and accept it into her own, giving him some of her light in return, knowing that he didn't choose to be who he became, though he's still imprisoned with the Trix in the Lightrock Monastery due to his crimes. It's implied for the rest of the series that he's an antihero, though he tries to be discreet due to the legacy he created. For his voice actor, I'd love for him to be voiced by Neil Newbon; the Astarion parallels are too delicious to ignore.
(NGL, Valtor is a great villain, but I did feel bad for the circumstances surrounding his creation, thus my sympathetic take.)
Tritannus--Due to his repetitive nature in season 5, I'd make Tritannus a supporting villain in season 3, helping to give more focus to Andros as well as keeping his goals streamlined. For a good deal of the season, the merpeople are curropted, with the pandemic eventually reaching King Neptune and Queen Ligea. Nereus also becomes infected, leaving Trittannus to rule the seas. However, when he welches on his promise to help Valtor take over the magical dimension, Valtor pollutes the ocean, transforming Trittanus into a monster. He then helps Valtor in order to regain his original form, as well as having a thing for Icy (who admires his evil tendencies, but his newfound appearance makes this a manipulative relationship only, as she sees a great deal to gain by becoming Queen of the Seas, this being one of her off periods with Darko). His family eventually defeats him, and he is banished to Oblivion, though both his siblings hope to release him from there with time, given his young age and their merciful natures, though Aisha remains skeptical.
I'd probably want him voiced by David Gallagher; I could totally hear Riku's voice when I see him.
Cassandra and Chimera--Amazing side villains, and pretty underrated winx villains overall, Cassandra is the new wife of King Radius and Chimera is her daughter, and both of them treat Stella cruelly and put a spell on Radius to make her resent her. I'd include them a bit more, and make Cassandra seem a bit kinder than she really is, with Chimera viciously tearing down Stella and Cassandra passive-aggressively trying to cheer her up, only to make her feel worse. I'd also make it less obvious that Radius is under a spell; since Stella argues with him frequently following the divorce and now with his surprise marriage, Stella believes that Radius thinks she's turned against him and wishes to take the throne by force, possibly with her mother. Radius IS under a spell, but it's easy for Stella to buy that after all their arguing, it's affected her father's perception of her, especially since his new wife and stepdaughter appear demure and submissive. They're still vain and spoiled, but they know how to curry the kingdom's favor in order to make themselves likeable, craftily working with Valtor to stain Stella's image as a selfish, entitled princess, and convince the nobles that her behavior could result in a coup that could destroy the sun kingdom, even making them think that Stella has become a puppet to Luna (and that Solaria itself could become a puppet state).
I'd base their appearances on Gwen Stefani and Jenna Ortega respectively, with Cassandra being voiced by Jennifer Hale (using a voice similar to her Bayonetta performance) and Chimera being voiced by Diane Guerroerro (since she has "evil Isabella Madrigal" written all over her).
Wizards of the Dark Circle--In my rewrite, they wouldn't be present villains (not that I've written the whole thing out, but that's my current headspace), but instead beings of legend, with their own unique backgrounds. Two of them are fairies, so I guess "Lords of the Dark Circle" would be a better title.
Ogron--Nicknamed the Stormy of the Wizards by the Winx and the Specialists, he's moody and quick to anger, but when he is in his element, he's calm and collected. As a child, he was a precocious wizard who surmised that fairies were the most powerful beings in the magical dimension (outside of the dragon creator), and realized that no matter how powerful he'd become, they'd always win, inspiring his quest to destroy all fairies on Earth, becoming so powerful that he became the Wizard of Negation, capable of stripping powerful creatures of their abilities (which varied by creature, of course). Despite his rage against fairies, he seems to have love and care for other beings, including his fellow wizards. He was eventually defeated by non-Earth fairies and sealed in a stone statue in Gardenia, and with his defeat, no more wizards were born on Earth. Similar to the Winx, I'd give the WOTDC celebrity inspirations, mainly celebrities who were (arguably) at their most famous decades ago, but are still widely respected now. For Ogron, I'd base him off of Johnny Depp and have him voiced by Mark Hamill (he gives me Ozai vibes, what can I say?) I'd also change the group's color scheme to be more individualistic, making his a mix of reds and oranges in a sophisticated, upper-class style rather than his punk aesthetic in the OG version.
Anagan--I'd make him the most "likeable" of the lords; he shows respect for others, flirts, and socializes, being known as the life of the party. He is known as the Wizard of Time, which allowed the wizards to stay ageless and find the Earth fairies (he joins this quest because he sees fairies as inferior to wizards, and not deserving of their power). It's implied that he can also time travel, and that the Winx may encounter him one day, or that they may already have. Due to his skill at seducing fairies, it's stated that he's sired many descendants, but due to Ogron's petrification, no magic came of his descendants, wizard or otherwise. While he escaped the fate of his contemporaries, it's said he's lived a lonely life without them, being known as the shoulder they could cry on and an expert secret-keeper who they consulted. His celebrity inspiration would be Usher, and I'd make his clothes trendy and have a stained glass style and multicolored, highlighting his colorful personality and friendliness (just not to fairies). Keith David would be a fun voice actor for him, in my opinion.
Gantlos--Originally a wizard of destruction, I'd rewrite him as the fairy of memory, and thus the one responsible for erasing Earth's recollection of magic ever being real. He also is the most protective of the group, throwing himself in danger to keep the others safe and being akin to the Pied Piper of Hamlin due to his mesmerizing flute playing. He was ignored as a male fairy within his family, lacking the ability to progress to different forms (likely because he was sheltered and thus could never overcome his insecurities or make a sacrifice), and took on a dark fairy transformation, giving him a new form, but locking him out of the forms other fairies have. Being raised by a rather strict, traditional family, he doesn't share compassion for animals, making Ariel detest him as she learns more about him. However, he does have affection for the elderly. When trying to wipe the entire world's mind of fairies, he became overwhelmed and it destroyed his mind (and failed, thus why we still have fairy tales), making him the second of the Lords to fall and thus buried in a magical crypt by Ogron and Anagan. I'd base his appearance on Leonardo DiCaprio, and have him voiced by Zahn McClarnon, since I enjoyed him as Olrox in "Castlevania: Nocturne." His fashion sense would be very similar to Dante from the "Devil May Cry" video game, albeit blue.
Duman--Also a fairy in my rewrite, he was a fairy of shifting (which means he could shapeshift). He often downed himself as a loser, not strong as other fairies and eventually fell in with the wrong crowd, making his way into the Wizards of the Dark Circle. He strives to be useful, and due to insecurity, almost never appears as himself unless he's with the other lords. Unlike the other lords, he acknowledges that what he's doing isn't really ethical, but is fine with being bad because he has community. He's quite lonely, and it's mentioned that if he never met the wizards, and thus the lords are like family to him. He has a tendency for gambling, and it's noted that after being tricked by a clever fairy, he was forced to give up his magic power. The lords erased his mind of them, deciding to spare him the pain, and he married a human woman and had a family, which they knew he always wanted. His legacy in the magical world was not forgotten, but the mortal world never knew of him. I'd want his appearance inspired by Brendon Urie, as well as being voiced by Noel Fisher (who I know as Toad in "X-Men: Evolution") would be perfect for this. I'd probably keep his punk aesthetic, though I love him wearing green.
Hope you like these takes. Lemme know what you think, and if you have any questions. Next post for this will be the specialists!

✨ The Winx Tarot ✨
I am currently designing a Rider-Waite tarot inspired by all the Winx club seasons (including S8 which I need to finish). I got the idea of making this tarot while rewatching S2 because the codex is in four parts, each associated with a keeper and a school/village, which fit perfectly with the four tarot suits
The Winx Tarot is made up of the 78 traditional cards and probably some additional ones knowing myself (edit: I was right, we have additional ones), I also plan on making a booklet, a box pattern and a tarot cloth (my goal is to be able to print my tarot and actually use it)
You will find some additional info and the full list of cards under the cut, I will add links to their WIP and final versions as I draw them :3
🦋 The Major Arcanas 🦋
They are based on major characters which fit the vibe of the card. They don't match a specific part of the codex but, like the codex, they represent power so their frame contains the codex itself

winx worldbuilding - ancestral witches
the witches were power hungry fae that achieved a half-life sort of immortality and as a result tried to claim the Dragon Flame to be restored fully (the trix are basically deranged fangirls) since their initial defeat all witches have a bad rep (Hagen was a member but regretted it when they came to target his love, Keeper of the Dragon Flame, and came to repent all his actions over the centuries of miserable immortality)
Darkar was a member of the ancestral witches who went rogue after their initial defeat, therefore was not imprisoned in Obsidian with the three who later attacked Domino, and he too seeks the Dragon Flame to restore himself to who he was before the immortality curse
Valtor is a homunculus created by the ancestral witches to aid them in their takeover, he was given life by the sacrifice of other souls (he craves the Dragon Flame to stabilize his piecemeal soul that relies on constant soul sacrifices to exist), and was banished to the Omega Dimension after the initial defeat of the witches by the company of light, surviving the stasis spell and the passage of time through the magical nature of his very being, absorbing the souls of other prisoners who succumbed to the harsh conditions
the company of light were the original defeaters of the five ancestral witches (six if you count Valtor), their moniker was later given to those leading the fight against the witch’s resurgence (new company members: Faragonda, Griffin, Hagen, Marian, Oritel, Saladin)

If you were to rewrite Winx, how would you write it?
Oh this is gonna be long.
Ok let's start from the premise that I actually like winx the way it is for a big chunk. Yes up to freaking s8. Although s7 deserves hell and nothing more.
So with that in mind:
Season 1-2
I would actually insert foreshadowing to the trix's backstory since the beginning. Some moment of banter between Darcy and Stormy and Icy not having the context for it to make it clear right off the bat that no, they have not known each other their whole lives.
I'd flesh out the magic system more, in a way that it is clear that yes, Alfea and Cloudtower have historical rivalry but mostly because it is convenient for both schools (beefing with the other school's students offers more opportunities to gain charmix/gloomix, plus there's the institutional events like the Magic Tournament where the winning school gets funding -I've been telling y'all the comics have good stuff-).
Season 3
Also Tecna is a princess but not in the way Stella or Aisha are because Zenith is an elective monarchy so she's only princess until the next elections.
Stella learns to live with the fact her parents are divorced and with the fact that Luna has a new boyfriend and she doesn't hate him. As per comic canon.
The only thing I'd change would be whatever is up with the timeline. It needs more clarity regarding when Domino fell, how old are Valtor, the Company of Light and the Ancestral Witches, and their connection with Darkar. The fact people seem to not know much about what happened with Domino is perfectly fine and realistic though (if you think otherwise, tell me what you were taught in history class about stuff that happened the decade you were born. Yeah, not much, right?).
Also that finale needs to be more climatic or have an explaination for Valtor's sudden weakness cough cough read my fanfic cough cough.
Still, I would add some comic plotlines like Musa helping an old musician elaborate the loss of his wife by allowing him to meet her ghost (with Daphne's help), giving closure to her own grief as well (extra points if it happens after the Water Stars trial because she would know it's what he needs because hearing her mom say she was proud of her did so much for her). You know, stuff that gives space to the neglected girls.
The whole royal family of underwater Andros is present, but it is a queendom. The king consort and the princes were away on some diplomatic trip when Valtor attacked, but they are shown in later episodes (Tecna enchantix episode).
Season 4
Sotlk and Magical Adventure go back to back after season 3. Nobody is whitewashed. That isn’t about writing but idc.
Oh boy...
1) Less relationship drama. Nobody needed that. Nobody liked that. Kill it with fire. Yes to questioning the status quo though. Rivusa break up? Maybe. Sky and Bloom learning to confide in each other instead of not communicating and causing arguments as a consequence? PLEASE.
2) No winx teachers. Unpopular opinion, but the ladies should have some other excuse to be in Alfea to start the action. Some higher level course, an apprenticeship of sorts, anyting but teaching. I don't want 18 year olds who were barely ever in class the previous year to teach.
3) Clarity about the Roxy being Morgana's daughter situation. Morgana has time travel powers and ran to the future, had Roxy, then went back to the past and got captured. Also clarity about why there's no witches or wizards on Earth either.
4) There would be episodes where the girls have some business to attend to in Magix with, again, some comic plots. This could work splitting the episode between the Earth plot and the Magix subplot. Examples include but aren't limited to: the Shaab stone comics (yes moved from s2 to s4 because s2 is already packed), the Andros pirates+alien lizard problem comics, the Zenith's inhabited satellite is about to be hit by a comet comic, the Stella gets kidnapped by shadow creatures from another universe comic.
5) Nabu sacrifices himself and it is clearer that he's in a coma and not dead.
Season 5
6) Ah, Bloom didn't forget her aura reading powers that are super useful to search for a magical person among thousands of non-magical people, she just really hates using them because they're a privacy breach and she only does it in dangerous situations or when they have a strong lead.
1) The trix are in Andros, and it is stated they have been there since the Havram/movie 2 events. They are clearly traumatized by the possession and nobody gave them a therapist. This time Roccaluce would've been the right place for them but alas...
2) Icy's trauma manifests in latching onto this idiot prince in the cell next to theirs because he reminds her of Valtor. They meet the same way, he does a similar monster thing, but he doesn't slam her against a wall when she breathes wrong, which is nice.
3) Roxy goes to Alfea! Yay! But Roxy feels so out of place because the winx are miles ahead of her in magic and life in general alike, while Roxy is a newbie to that world and has very confused ideas about her future. Cue to an extensive arc about Roxy learning that it is ok to do things at her own pace and that she can have more than one friend group (the winx and her classmates) because she has things in common with different groups of people.
4) Harmonix doesn't exist because the girls can swim and use magic underwater in base form/charmix AND enchantix, as per canon.
5) The sirenix curse, that hot mess. Ok so Daphne is dead dead. She did not have sirenix. Politea did. Cue to more lore about the fall of Domino and how part of the plan to prevent it failed badly with Politea getting cursed and disappearing.
6) The season is centered about the struggles of Aisha and Roxy. Bloom, Stella and Tecna are also closely involved with the plot due to their role as princesses, but have struggles that don't compete with having half your family turned into a monster army while your boyfriend is in a coma or adapting to a whole new world. For example, Bloom proves herself politically competent to both her and Sky's parents, Tecna talks her planet out of isolationism, Stella helps both.
7) The Sirenix wishes change. Less manipulating people into changing their behavior and more actual action. Obviously Nabu is healed with a wish (maybe not Aisha's? Maybe by the wish of one of her friends because they want their friend to be well again? Just saying. Everybody cried for Nabu, Aisha is not the only one who would care about him!). I have no ideas for the others but it's the kind of thing that only comes up if I sit down and write the whole thing for me and I sure as hell won't do that.
8) Tritannus gets high on Throne power and tries to kill Icy as per canon, but the Trix don't flee. They are captured and after the battle the winx see how absolutely shattered Icy is and decide to hold out a hand to them (some of them are reluctant cuz it bit them in the ass with the Black Circle). Yes same as my fanfic but one season earlier: the winx talk Roccaluce into giving the trix a proper trial.
Season 6
1) Picking up from the trial, there's a few episodes focused on that as well as some arguments between the winx because as I said they weren't all 100% on board with that. Everyone is shocked when Icy says whatever the official lie about her origins was and the magic lie detector goes ham. Icy gives in and says she's a survivor of Dyamond. Cue to the mystery of this second Domino that the Magic Dimension doesn't talk about cuz it's even more embarrassing than what happened in Domino after all planets went on with slogans like "never again will we see something like on Domino now that the Ancestral Witches and Valtor are vanquished".
I put too much thought and time into this for something I'll never do so have a quick list of things this season would deal with:
- If you know me you know I am a sucker for redemption arcs and the trix will have one in this universe too.
- This season's theme would be change and adapting to change. Most obvious with the winx and the trix having to interact with each other in a new way, but also for Earth, where magic is spreading (again, comic plots of people discovering their powers and messing up big time in more than one way)
- Selina would be the main villain, but she'd be from either Linphea or Melody for the sake of linearity. Not sure what her goals may be but there could be a situation where she tries to recruit people from Earth who developed powers, thus crossing the winx's path
- There'd be more of the adulting we were supposed to get after season 4, with the winx taking steps towards what they want their life to be. Musa would focus on her musical career, Flora would decide she wants to focus on her role of guardian fairy, Tecna would have a series of technomagic projects rejected by companies and she'd decide to start her own company (with Timmy), Bloom would take on a more active role as a princess and help with Domino's reconstruction, Stella would officially start her fashion line and use her platform to bring attention to the problems she's entangled in (e.g. oh this awesome linen that can only be imported from Earth? Such a pity that Roccaluce won't recognize Earth as part of the Magic Dimension thus actively making commerce impossible), Aisha would focus on her role as guardian fairy as well as just enjoying her second chance with Nabu (she deserves it ok?)
- Roxy gets enchantix at some point
This took me way more than it should have lol I hope you enjoy the read!!
#willing to elaborate further on specific points#i made up half of this as I typed#thank you for the ask!#ask me anything#winx club#winx meta

remember this one, and then think of what she did after s1 to find her parents...uhm nothing? And now, don't come with "but she had to defeat Darkar and Valtor first!". Those fairies are school girls. It is not their fkn duty to fight evil powers. Their headmasters should. They are the stupid company of light if not them who?? As a child, I always thought Bloom did not give a single fck for her parents until the first movie. Do we even see Daphne again in s2 and s3? I can't remember.

PRE-SERIES TIMELINE
It's basically the timeline from the Winx Fandom Wiki, I know. A few bits of new information here and there, though.
CREATION OF UNIVERSE
-the Great Dragon, Shadow Phoenix, and the Water Stars are created from the original void -the Great Dragon uses his flames to create the universe, most notably the Magical Dimension -original races/species begin to appear (e.g Dragons, Unicorns, etc.), and the more humanoid races possess longer ears, a more Elven appearance -near the end of this process, part of the Dragon's Flame mixes with the original darkness, creating a "dark spark" of the Dragon Fire -finished, the Great Dragon rests within a realm later named Domino; his fate is uncertain, but the Dragon Flame is entrusted to the people residing there, the Dominoans, and the Dominoan Royal Family later on -First Kingdoms: Domino, Andros (Undersea/Terrestrial), Solaria -magic-bearing humanoids, the Ancestral Witches (Belladonna, Liliss, Tharma) are born, and are presumably immortal -Arcadia, the first fairy, appears (she's the first born with physical wings, unlike other witches...magic-related mutation, maybe?) -more Ancestral Fairies are born, presumably immortal; they are the first to disperse outside their home realms, cross the Magical Dimension, and eventually mate with "earthlings", or Earth's humans; a portion settled there permanently (Earth Fairies), while most brought their children & families back to live in the MD -BLT find the "dark spark" of the Dragon's Flame, which over many years they shape into their creation, the infamous Valtor
--
ANCIENT TIMES
-the Ring of Solaria is forged -a group of fairies and wizards come together to capture the Water Stars and send them to a pocket dimension, the Golden Kingdom, as their powers cannot coexist with the Dragon Flame in the Magic Dimension without causing chaos; they're aided by Arcadia, who volunteers to be sealed with the Water Stars indefinitely
--
MEDIEVAL TIMES
-on Earth, a group of dark wizards create the Black Circle to counteract the magic of the White Circle owned by the Earth Fairies, earning the name "Wizards of the Black Circle"; armed with a spell that makes them immune to fairy magic, the Wizards of the Black Circle begin the Great Fairy Hunt -the quarry-born mining kingdom of Eraklyon is founded 1000 years before Season 3 -Middle Queendoms: Linphea, Dyamond
--
-Later Republics: Melody, Zenith -Lesser Territories (Often Coastal): Callisto, Dolona, Espero, Hoggar, Pyros, Oppositus -Hagen, Saladin, Faragonda, Griffin, Oritel and Marion (+Griselda) are born in their respective realms -having created Valtor, BLT raise him with their knowledge of the magical realms and poise him to become the greatest wizard of all time; he later distances himself to accomplish this -several witches, led by BLT, find and join forces with the Shadow Phoenix
--
-Faragonda becomes the next headmistress of Alfea. -Oritel (second-born, dead sibling) and Marion get married. (Marion's from Callisto, and is a fire fairy of noble blood) -a few years later, Daphne is born (first-born, wielder of the Dragon Flame) -young and skilled, Griffin joins Valtor's highest ranks to become the greatest witch of all time -in response to higher crime, the Omega Portal is created on Andros; Omega is small, though not a pocket dimension, and was once a "proxy realm" (orbiting moon, more or less?) of Dyamond -entering her 20s, Daphne excels in fairy magic, and becomes a Nymph of Domino -Bloom is born ("bloomed in strife") but isn't called that; she will not be officially named until her first birthday -Oritel and Marion form the Company of Light to counter BLT, Griffin and Valtor; great warriors, witches, fairies and wizards join their group, the most notable ones being Hagen, Faragonda, and Saladin -Hagen forges a sword for Oritel to wield, which is later bathed in the Dragon's Flame -Lord Darkar, the Shadow Phoenix's vessel, begins his race for the Ultimate Power -Lord Darkar's search for the Dragon Flame ultimately leads to the destruction of Domino after sending BLT, Griffin and Valtor to search there; before their raid on Domino, the Ancestral Witches arrive on Eraklyon, to pressure Crown Prince Erendor, a stand-in member of the COL, into abandoning Domino for the safety of his own kingdom; a soul-shard archiving the deed is used as leverage -horrified by what's happened, Griffin betrays Valtor to join their biggest enemies: the Company of Light; he's captured -Daphne takes Bloom while the castle is overrun, riskily "bathes" her in the Dragon's Flame (the Dominoan Royal Family are wielders, not possessors, so Bloom sets a magical precedent) -BLT ambushes them, uses a strong siphoning spell on Daphne, which renders her a disembodied spirit -simultaneously, Daphne time-warps Bloom to Earth -the Company of Light defeat BLT but pay a heavy price for their victory, as their leaders, Oritel and Marion, and the entirety of Domino are lost -BLT and the siphoned Domino citizens perpetually remain in Obsidian, another pocket dimension, time during which BLT creates their second project, Mandragora, from various insects -Valtor is sentenced to eternal imprisonment on Omega -the Lord of the Templars of Lightrock Monastery runs a weakened Lord Darkar off, who unfortunately escapes and enters a deep slumber underground -Company of Light disbands
--
17+ YEARS PRIOR
-Nabu is born (January 30th) -Stormy, Darcy, and Icy are born (on April 5th, May 5th, and June 5th, respectively)
--
17 YEARS PRIOR
-Stella is born (August 18th) -Brandon is born (September 23rd)
--
16 YEARS PRIOR
-Timmy is born (February 15th) -Flora is born (March 1st) -Sky is born (March 20th) -Musa is born (May 30th) -Layla is born (June 15th) -Helia is born (September 2nd) -Riven is born (October 15th) -Bloom is found and adopted by Mike and his wife, Vanessa (December 10th) -Tecna is born (December 16th) -Anne (Andromeda), Krystal, and Mitzi are born

Icy v1
(some stuff is from the fan wiki i just tweaked)
Name: Icy Hilda Rayne
Looks: Tallest one of the trix, but only coz of how she ties her long pin straight silvery-blue hair, in a high ponytail by a dark teal tube-like hairband with two long curled hairs flowing past her ears and stops at her chest in the front
Icy is pale-skinned with icy blue eyes and long. She is almost always seen wearing dark blue eye shadow, pale purple lipstick that makes her lips look frostbitten and long blue fingernails.
She used to have curly blond hair before switching to her current hairstyle.
Relationships: She loves her sister Saphire a lot, and she also loves the trix. there was a point where she was infatuated with tritannus but after he lost his power she forgot about him. her bonded Magic animal is Frosbite.
Personality: Smartest, most ambitious, crown princess of Dyamond. Icy is a cold type of person, and often acts cruel for the sake of being cruel to the point of being the cruellest, most vindictive one out of the Trix. She tends to act rude and ridicules people she does not approve of and her temper tends to get the better of her when things do not go her way. As she was already very cruel, Icy always fought her way to be the best and most powerful; a desire that only intensified with every season she and her sisters have continuously appeared to destroy the Winx. Her overwhelming cruelty has also earned her the favor of villains. She considers herself more powerful and intelligent than her sisters are.
Icy had always been able to steal the spotlight as the more evil side involved, regardless of whomever plan she may be following. Icy likens herself the groups leader while often obtaining the role of second-in-command whenever they work under a more powerful evil force like with Darkar and Valtor. However, Icy also does not become wholly submissive and, Darcy and Stormy are forgotten or left in the background. Despite all the special treatment she gets from others while upholding a sense of authority herself, Icy has shown that she does need her sisters whenever a plan is hatched.
Despite her cruelty, Icy is capable of love. It is clear that she loves Darcy and Stormy. She also loves her younger sister Sapphire.
Other positive qualities of Icy are her intelligence, her tenacity, her charisma and her bravery. She is a very charismatic and effective leader. She is also very clever. She understood the power of the Dragon Flame long before Bloom and she always came up with intelligent plans to get what she wanted. She never gave up despite having been defeated multiple times. She is also unafraid to go up against more powerful enemies.
However, despite her intelligence and her bravery, Icy was a bit naive in the sense that she could be double crossed by deceptive villains. However, she learned her lesson finally and freed herself from Valtor's mark and she decided to fight with him with Darcy and Stormy, but she betrayed him.
History: Her mother was approached by one of the witches, Liliss, to have a child to carry on the ancestral withces' legacy, as she had a bad feeling about the upcoming fight with the company of light. Icy’s mother was a devout follower. But after having icy with her husband the king of Dyamod she had a change of heart. Liliss found out and so she sent her next most devoted follower to ruin their planet, the Blood Witch. Leadin to icy’s backstory. furthermore, the reason why Icy became so power-hungry is that she wanted to become more powerful than the Blood Witch herself, in order to undo her spell on Sapphire and save Dyamond. Icy's childhood trauma filled Icy's heart with anger and desire for revenge, to the point that Icy became herself cruel, ruthless and even capable of killing anyone standing in her way. Her original goal to save her kingdom later expanded into a desire to be the most powerful witch of all and rule the Magic Dimension, so she will never know loss again.
Powers: She is known mostly to shoot icicles and send blizzards to freeze people to incapacitate or kill them. her powers are blue (other than her ice which also can be white)

Winx Club Rewrite
[2]
Here is what does NOT EXIST in this AU, which exists in canon (not everything is mentioned here but the major things are — I will probably update it later though, after I learn/remember another piece of info from Winx Club).
The Pixies and Selkies — It’s as simple that I don’t like them. I remember quite vividly that whenever the pixies played some role, things would always go worse one way or another and I don’t want to deal with that. And, well, the selkies are just pixies underwater, so yeah.
Charmix and similar seemingly random powerups (c’mon, it’s just overrated purse).
The Water Stars also don’t exist here (but the Council of Elders does, though it is so different, it may as well not exist).
Transformations end with Enchantix (there’s more to it, but no further transformations like in canon).
Dimensions and planets got completely reworked (I, myself, have a massive problem to distinguish what exactly is its own dimension and what is just a planet).
The Ultimate Power that all the major villains want doesn’t exist in any way, shape or form.
The Company of Light never existed because it couldn’t be even formed timeline vise.
Roxy, Selina, and Eldora don’t exist (well, Roxy maybe will be implemented on later date, depending on the plot, but she will be from Tir Na Nog for sure).
The next post should be about the Dragon and the Phoenix and “other” universal mythology which is in some way present in practically all cultures across the Magic Dimensions/Magix (Magical Dimension will be called Magix in future posts).
Note 0.2: The Ultimate Power plot device is actually one of the main reasons this AU came into being in the first place. I was trying to figure out what would Darkar’s whole deal be if there wasn’t anything like that. And then it occurred to me that most of the antagonists in Winx Club are after the same shiny plot decide, which is also never properly described…nice.

Ya know talking about Helia’s name brought me back to this fic I tried to write about him being the only living descendant of the Company of Light.
Before Bloom was discovered, Helia was most likely the only one. Unless Hagen had a kid but let’s keep it interesting cuz neither did Griffin or Faragonda.
Also l find it interesting that Saladin is the only one who had a kid. If he did then they probably would have fought alongside around the time Domino was destroyed. Helia’s most likely older than Bloom but having kids while witches are trying to take over the magical dimensions is weird so what if…
Even if Helia was born out of love or a decision to want children, what if he was born out of need?
Like a weapon. One they can train from birth. Or a vessel. Like Bloom with the dragon flame. Or both.
Instead its Darkar’s power since he is the opposite. In the magic dimension, it is a must to have an equal balance of light and dark and it wouldn’t make sense to completely destroy the dark equivalent of the dragon flame.
A templar knight was said to have defeated Darkar the first time but if he was able to revive, some magic of his might have lingered. But he came back in a skeletal state because his resurrection as the Shadow Phoenix was incomplete. Something like Voldemort and the horcruxes.
What if it was because Helia was used as a vessel to hold Darkar’s power after he was defeated? I read somewhere his power is called the shadow fire.
It would make sense why Helia wouldn’t want to use his magic and hide that he can.
So Helia being born to be a vessel once they destroy Darkar and then using that power to eventually defeat the Ancestral Witches. A plan, a project by the Company of Light. Hence his name. Helia. Meaning sun, meaning light.
Or in a scenario where he was born out of love, and since Marion and Oritel are most likely much younger than Saladin and the rest if Bloom’s only sixteen when she’s discovered, they knew Helia’s parents too. They wanted to protect Helia and not have it come to a point where they have to chain him to that fate so they did everything they could to defeat the ancestral witches before it was too late.
Also a perfect set-up for Evil Helia au or even better an angsty one where he doesn’t even know he’s the one that revived Darkar because he had been possessed through season 2.
Then again Evil!Helia reviving Darkar, coming back to rf to get the codex, befriending the Specialists, getting close to Flora to make sure fake Avalon is properly brainwashing and spelling her roommate. Evil!Helia liking being a ‘normal’ teen, realising he cares about these people, falling in love, then going oh no what has he done.

Marion, Faragonda and the Ancestral Witches for the bingo? 👀
Thanks for the ask!
Marion:
She has had so much happen to her and only about 0.00001% of that has been acknowledged by the franchise. Like, okay then. If you won't do anything with her, why put her in the story in the first place? Oh, that's right. To give Bloom everything she's ever wanted. Honestly, this is pretty much Winx Club's patented process of coming up with brilliant characters and then wasting them.
Anyway, she's a bad bitch, a total queen in every sense of the word and an emotional wreck sidelined by a story that cannot fit this much greatness in it. Case open and the folder is bursting with all the different threads woven into this woman. Definitely needs further investigating and that's my opinion as a professional fangirl.
Faragonda:
I'm not the biggest Faragonda fan. Tbh I am a lot more interested in her dynamics with other characters than in her as a standalone character. But my god, the fandom does not get her, like, at all. If I see one more Shady!gonda post, I swear to god. People need to stop fucking villainizing her for the fact that she's purposefully sidelined by the writers in order to put the spotlight on the Winx and make the plot happen. Get a grip! That's not interesting! Feels like the very same processes behind the "Flora is a drug dealer" take are at play here as well. People just cannot handle kind, (seemingly) non-threatening characters. Everything has to be EdgyTM.
I think the backstory adds a lot to her character (and the rest of the Company of Light). Exploring the ways in which she has healed from her trauma and the ways in which she has suppressed it in order to be at least somewhat functional as a leader is a far more interesting way to engage with her character imo. The fallout with Griffin some time after the final battle on Domino is the prime example of this because think of the trauma of essentially losing another friend after what they all went through that day on Domino and after Hagen left, too. And then trying to balance her non-existent relationship with Griffin, her (now co-dependent, on her end at least) relationship with Saladin and Griffin and Saladin's surviving relationship that she's not privy to. I'd better stop or I'll start writing fanfiction right here in this post.
Ancestral Witches:
They're only interesting conceptually and the concept is... not lacking per se, but very unclear. They mostly exist in backstory and the backstory is a nebulous void basically so... that's not helping them. Honestly, if you really think about it, they're not that threatening. They supposedly served Darkar so they weren't even their own bosses and it took them, like, centuries? iirc to even locate the Dragon Fire and then steal it. The Trix were infinitely more proficient than that, please! They are totally underwhelming in SotLK, too, even when they're onscreen with how illogical their whole plan of action is. Didn't they know that Bloom survived and had the Dragon Fire? Valtor knew that! Yet the movie implies it's news to them. And their plan to get Bloom to destroy the sword is pathetic. They are only truly menacing in Magical Adventure (another proof that it's the superior movie).
I'm going on a slight headcanon tangent here because it explains perfectly what I find to be lacking with them. At least one dub implies that the Shadow Phoenix possessed a person to become Lord Darkar. Seeing that he created the Ancestral Witches, the assumption that they were just like him - incorporeal - fixes literally every problem. Why it took them so long to obtain the Dragon Fire? Because they needed to find bodies first. Why creating Valtor at all if they are more powerful? For the same reason. Having descendants (magically created; PLEASE, the idea that the Trix are somehow biological descendants of the Witches is fucking nightmare fuel and needs to be abolished!)? For the same reason again. Why not just possess the descendants then? Because that would limit the power that the Ancestral Witches can harness through the mortal bodies they've possessed (they'd need someone with strong and compatible powers (aka end of Magical Adventure) or to create their own bodies). It will even mix perfectly with Valtor's mark and what it does to people - it's a downgrade of their ability to possess people. Having them as incorporeal entities makes them more interesting because they have something to overcome too while at the same time it doesn't necessarily make them any less threatening. On the contrary, if played correctly, this could be a trump card. They can be everywhere, unable to directly influence events but lurking into every corner, seeing everything and pulling strings through the puppets they already do have (aka Valtor and their descendants). It would make them more interesting, plus, could kind of be a reason for how unsegregated their personalities are.
Anyway, canon version is cringefail. Not least of all because they got an ember of the Dragon Fire, made a living, breathing creature from it, looked at it and went "Hm, yeah, that's only good enough to be a tool." I'm starting to ask myself if the writers were projecting when they wrote the Ancestral Witches.

About your hc that bloom is the first ever dragon flame wielder, does her family still have some historical connections to it or why are they in power? (Or did they bullshit their way to the top?)
I thought about this for a long time.
Mostly because I hadn’t thought about it at all.
Sometimes, I just spout things into the universe and, when questioned, the pieces magically fall into place on their own.
This ask really put that method to the test. I appreciate the challenge.
Her family does still have historical connections to it. They are what I’ve come to refer to as The Chosen Family of Domino. Namely, they were chosen by the Great Dragon himself to protect the Dragon Flame. Not possess it, but protect it. Which is a big part of this theory.
Since the Dragon Flame is similar to a god power (i.e. creating the Magic Dimension, bringing the dead back to life, etc.), I don’t see the Great Dragon saying “you know what I’m going to trust man won’t abuse my power.” So I think it was kept in more of a special receptacle, locked away in a temple devoted to the deity. Much like this!:
(This is why we have Nymphs like Daphne, whose job is to protect the Flame. It is considered one of the highest honors to be inducted as a Nymph because you have to prove you’d be willing to sacrifice your life to guard the Flame.)
Don’t get me wrong, there’s obviously a way to possess the Dragon Fire. Otherwise we wouldn’t be where we are today with not one but two guardians! So let’s get to the bulk of the issue: How does one possess the Flame? Well I’m so glad no one asked! Let’s dive into it, shall we?
So in my personal headcanon, Bloom’s bloodline runs the same risk as the Targaryen bloodline from Game of Thrones (just without the inbreeding) — “Every time a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin, and the world holds its breath.” Will they be mad and power hungry? Or will they be sane and gentle? Many of Bloom’s ancestors landed on the mad and power hungry side, and tried to take the Flame for their selves. These attempts never ended well, most ending in death. Why is this? What the world would come to learn is that the Great Dragon placed a safeguard on the Flame, dictating that those who lust for its power may never attain it. This would also explain why it’s said by Faragonda in s1 that the Flame “cannot be taken” from Bloom.
A long, long time ago, Domino experienced its first attack on the temple at the hands of Darkar and the Ancestresses. And while they didn’t manage to steal the Flame, they did manage to escape with an ember. Darkar, being the cocky son a bitch he is, thought he could outsmart the safeguard, and tried to possess it for himself that way he could enter Relix. Of course, he nearly gets himself killed in the process and it actually taints the ember since it came into contact with his Shadow Fire ergo creating the dark ember. And this my dear friends is where Baltor comes into play. Quick headcanon breakdown before moving on: Baltor was an aristocratic wizard from Domino, minding his own business who caught the unfortunate eye of Belladonna before being kidnapped and enslaved by the Ancestresses and forced into possessing the dark ember of the Dragon Flame. Okay? Okay cool.
Now after this attack, the Flame was promptly relocated to deep within the tunnels beneath the palace. Baltor’s creation was kept quiet so that Darkar would have the upper hand. But after centuries of coercion and weaseling his way through the company of many monarchs, a slip up was made. And once they realized the power he held, whispers began between allies, suggesting that the Company of Light should “make one of their own.” And they were willing to listen until the candidate was named —Oritel and Miriam’s newborn daughter. A baby cannot thirst for power. A baby has no wants or desires. Therefore, a perfect candidate to absorb the Flame. As you can imagine, Oritel and Miriam were completely against the idea and refused to hear anymore about it, unwilling to risk their daughter’s life. (Also random but I don’t subscribe to the idea that Bloom’s birth name was Bloom.)
Then the final battle occurred, as we all know. During this battle, it came down to Daphne having to choose to protect the Flame or her baby sister. Having heard the plans their allies had concocted, she figured it was worth a shot. And lo and behold, it worked! It sucked up nearly all of her strength, but it worked! And using the last of her power, begging the Great Dragon for his help one final time, she managed to summon the portal to Earth.
… I think that covers everything. I’m open to any other questions though! I’m sure I fucked up somewhere in this essay.

S2 E23 The Time For Truth
Flora, Aisha and company are surprisingly chill for just learning that the fourth piece of the codex was stolen
Real!Avalon just turned himself into a puddle of water. Wild.
Fake!Avalon is making lots of sense asking Darkar to get rid of Real!Avalon and Darkar's response is just but that's my toyyy
Real!Avalon got real lucky on that timing though
A whole ass assembly for the winx getting their Charmix? Can someone say favouritism?
Also how has absolutely no one else reached their Charmix yet? Maybe if Faragonda had sent everyone to the beach for two days they could have had a chance.
Hold the fuck up. How is Aisha at Alfea and with Flora at Pixie Village at the same time? Did she leave Pixie Village at some point?
Oh and now she's gone from the Charmix group...
Musa got that Taylor Swift slouch going on. Must be cause she spends so much time hunched over writing at a piano or with her guitar.
Wait is all this training happening on the same day? Or is this a montage?
Why have they all accepted Bloom as their leader without question? Do none of these bitches have independent thought?
WHY ARE THE ONLY USING THEIR CHARMIX AFTER GETTING KNOCKED DOWN TWICE? Isn't the whole point of this to be Charmix training???
Did Griselda just compliment Stella? 😮🤨😮🤨
Oh Aisha is still at Pixie Village.
I know continuity is not Winx Club's strong suit, but this is literally the same episode. Like, come on.
Faragonda really just said stop being a little bitch Flora. Just do it.
Flora decides to believe in herself because a boy touched her shoulders? What about for her friends? Her bonded pixie? Herself?
Now Flora only has to take one step? Why does Faragonda know about Flora needing to tell Helia her feelings?
That's not what we were taught in health ed class 😂😂😂
Why are the guys leaving without Flora and Aisha? Are they supposed to fly back on their own? How far is Pixie Village anyways?
Flora's one flashback of Helia and her is the moment that just happened because they've barely interacted otherwise
Chatta losing her patience with Flora 😂😂
Helia is as big a coward as Flora. He could have said something instead of this isn't the right time.
You don't love him Flora. You barely know him.
He's so nice to me even though I'm failing his class. Maybe he'll pass me after all. Or, Stella, Fake!Avalon might just not be an asshole (other than the whole working for Darkar thing)
Musa's so focused on what a good teacher Fake!Avalon was 😂😂
Why is absolutely no one else on campus when Flora and Aisha come back? Literally not a single student.
Bloom's been abducted. Faragonda is way too calm about that. Like, call the cops.
