Lol, I liked the bonus chapter a lot more than the main part. Now what am I supposed to do with that? Good question)))
There are two stories here: Rumpelstiltskin and Tom Thumb. Tell me, how are they connected?
And just like that, before the King's madness even started, it happened that he married a girl who was kind of spinning gold (no). Jonah was so nervous that she almost moved, but Rumple helped her, and they talked about the exchange. And after a while, as soon as the King and Queen had a daughter, they forgot all about everything, Rumple flew in like, “OBLIGATIONS HAVE TO BE FULFILLED!!!” and flew off into the portal for the child. We're playing for the Queen and the King… I'll tell you right away, the King flies away, he was touched by the fate of King Midas (wrapped in a golden statue, yes, yes), and the Queen to clean up everything, as usual.
Well
WELL WHAT
She meets a little boy who decided to help her, like, if you have to open the door, you're welcome, so FOR THE WHOLE BONUS PART WE HAVE A POCKET CHILD WITH US!!!))
And then we also met a mega-fairy, who organized us a nice quest in SEARCH FOR MEAD, with which we have to get Rumple drunk, in general everything is very fun. Our child was taken away, the power grid was disconnected, Rumple was thrown into the stratosphere, the King was enchanted, and the boy with a fingernail was golden to the very core, beauty ig
True because of the fact that the king because of the transformation began to go cuckoo, it is such a wow. Ig, the ending is not very racy, everything is cool))))

y'know what would be funny if the fairy tale detective was a cryptid that is human passing. (possible spoilers for jack and the sky kingdom, and more rambles under the cut)
like when Jack is first interacting with the detective he is like 'oh another human dealing with all this weird magic bullshitery' and then a little bit later he turns to talk to det and just sees eye glow for half a second but it's so brief he questions whether or not he saw anything, and then they meet back up with Emma and she notices it too, and they're both like wth?? do the ask the detective about it? absolutely not! that would be so awkward... cut forward a little to a unspecified adventure and the detective needs a ladder for something and is hanging out with Gerda and company, and they find a ladder and Gerda turns to the group and is discussing working together to move the ladder to where they need and turns back to see no ladder?? the detective is just standing there where the ladder was waiting for Gerda to finish talking. when they get to where they needed the ladder the detective seemingly just pulls it out of nowhere and places it against the wall. the detectives allies/friends now have bimonthly meetings (provided the worlds not ending) trying to figure out wtf the detective is and where they came from and who old they are, because they are weirdly spry after at least 20 years dealing with weird magic stuff.

I'm a bit sad. I have been a long time fan of the Dark Parables games that were developed by Blue Tea Games and Eipix Entertainment and released by Big Fish Games and I just found out that there probably won't be any more. The reason for this is that Blue Tea Games has been inactive since sometime in 2019, which was the year of the release of the 16th, and probably final, game in the series; Dark Parables: Portrait of the Stained Princess. So I checked Eipix Entertainment, ya know, just in case, and it turns out Eipix Entertainment was acquired by Playrix Entertainment that same year and has not released any new games on its own since so now I'm sad. On the bright side, I do have all 16 games and can play them anytime I want but I'm still sad that there probably won't be any new ones because they're so good!!!

Just wondering, how would you rank the Dark Parables games from least favorite to most favorite?
Ooooo okay so these are going to be ranked by story, mechanics, designs and just how much I love them!
Least Favorite- Most Favorite
15. The Little Mermaid and the Purple Tide: I feel like this is not a surprise given my rants. Bad story. Bad mechanics.
14. The Thief and the Tinderbox: Again I feel like this isn't a surprise. Bad story. Bad continuity. Bad designs.... but! The mechanics were not bad.
13. Queen of Sands: it felt off in a way. Like it didn't belong in the series. Mechanics okay. Designs/art decent. Bad story.
12. Return of the Salt Princess: nothing wrong with the mechanics or designs or anything. I liked the story somewhat, it just overall isn't a favorite.
11. Portrait of the Stained Princess: it was alright, I liked the art and such. I just felt like it could have been more. Story wise, I mean. I don't know. It didn't engage me as much as others.
10. The Swan Princess and the Dire Tree: it's sad because I'm a sucker for swan princess things whether it be the Swan Lake ballet, the barbie movie or the Don bluth ones (only the first and second ones though) and I was excited for this game but it ultimately hadn't been something I expected but I did enjoy it a bit. Though again, continuity threw me off since there was barely any.
9. The Red Riding Hood Sisters: I do like this one, but not as much as others. I liked the concept, the designs, the mechanics, and the story somewhat. I just wish I could have been more engaged in it.
8. Exiled Prince: Look, I like it a lot, it is arguably one of the most iconic games in the series but the mechanics are what put it here. It had a wonderful story and everything it was just those mechanics that hung me up.
7. Curse of Briar Rose: another one I really love, but those mechanics just hurt. If they remade it it would definitely ranked higher.
6. The Match Girl's Lost Paradise: such a fun story!! It was so interesting and I really liked it and was very engaged!
5. Goldilocks and the Fallen Star: fun game! Engaging! Also, bonus for Jack, just not a top five fav.
4. Rise of the Snow Queen: Snow White is one of my favorite fairy tales, and the fact they merged it with the Snow Queen story had me elated! I loved it! I was so engaged!
3. Jack and the Sky Kingdom: Has some of my favorite characters of the series! Had an engaging storyline! The mechanics were great! And the puzzles were fun.
2. Ballad of Rapunzel: SO fun! So interesting! So much lore given, and I love lore! It was unique with its endings. Overall a very great game!
1. The Final Cinderella: I am biased. Very biased. Cinderella is my favorite fairy tale. I have so many different versions of it. I have watched everything Cinderella or so I'm convinced. The story was so fun and engaging and the art! Oh man the art! And I cared for all the characters!

One day the peace in Alblasserwaard, South Holland , is cut short by the appearance of a castle in the sky amidst the clouds and reports of large chunks falling down and hurting many innocents, among the reports of an unknown man threatening the locals. The Fairytale Detective must team up with Jack, a local adventurer, in order to infiltrate the mystical Sky Kingdom and stop this from happening while uncovering the past that the local hero seems to want to hide. The sixth title of the Dark Parables starts strong, this time bringing the Jack and the Beanstalk with elements of Rumpelstiltskin and even other tales of greed, along with the series usual own spin to the story. While it somehow does feel a straightforward adventure like the Red Riding Hood Sisters instead of the amazing crescendo that was The Final Cinderella, the end leaves a few things open despite the happy ending for the protagonists – and it will certainly come back to haunt the Fairytale Detective in the future. Still, the way they reinvent some stories like the magical beans and the three brothers is always entertaining to witness.
Besides the noticeable comic book style text box for the characters speaking on the screen – which is quite often this time around – there are a few new things around. One of them is that even in casual mode once you skip a puzzle the hint system is locked for a few minutes as opposed to merely recharging as usual. However, the most noticeable change is now that some of the hidden object scenes have hidden compartments and objects to open, like drawers. Some of them are obvious enough, like looking under a doll, while the secret niches can get slightly hard to tell.
As expected from the series, the graphics still have the high-detailed storytelling with each area from Jack’s cottage and the Sky Kingdom reflecting its inhabitants and their personalities, which leads to some very varied backgrounds. King Eurig’s greed also provides for some lavish things that, compared to the other kings, was actually quite modest perhaps because the treasure was stolen by Jack.
The bonus showcases the Queen of the Sky Kingdom and the consequences of the actions that led her to marry King Eurig and how by the end she left him. It is mostly inconsequential to the main story, but gives some extra depth for the antagonist and some beautiful places to explore.
Jack is a fun co-protagonist and the Sky Kingdom has some very interesting worldbuilding, but it pales in comparison to the two previous titles. While it does introduce ideas like groups of adventurers and fortune-seeking with some grave consequences and a melodramatic story, some elements narrowly fall short.

Connections to James, the Frog Prince in each Dark Parables game
(so far. will be updated as I replay the games. as such it will be under a readmore)
because there are a fuckton of them. almost everyone is connected to him in some way
1: Curse of Briar Rose
Briar outright tells you to go break his curse.
his brother was the prince who kissed Briar but because "his love for her was not true" it only got rid of the thorns and didn't wake her up. also it, uh, killed him. he died shortly after kissing her.
I don't remember this but according to the wiki, James kept carrier pigeons as pets?? and there's a carrier pigeon sitting in Briar's bedroom window.
Briar's sister was James' first wife
---
2: The Exiled Prince
the entire game is about him
---
3: Rise of the Snow Queen
the main antagonist is his ex-wife, Snow White
his son, Gwyn, is there
you can find a carriage with his kingdom's crest on it and there's also a frog that's the exact same as the ones in Exiled Prince
---
4: Red Riding Hood Sisters
there's a statue of Gwyn in the forest
Briar my bestie returns
there's a chapel with statues of his wives in the Mist Kingdom. why is there a chapel with statues of his wives here. he isn't from here. none of his wives were from here. why.
---
5: Final Cinderella
one of his wives, Agnes Koch, was a Cinderella
Amelia, the Godmother (and antagonist), helped the two get together
there are little dioramas of the 5 Cinderella's Amelia helped and one is of Agnes. completing them tells you the Cinderella's story
---
6: Jack and the Sky Kingdom
there's a Frog Prince statue in Jack's vault
Julian turns into James to taunt the Detective

Found Books and First Vessel
Prev: Things That Go Missing
First: The Beginning
Now if you remember last time, those five books from Madame Gothel’s shelf were missing, I bet you’re wondering where those went
Before we can get to that, I should tell you that though Marinette can no longer enter her home realm, she can now influence certain things to happen through the guidance of the Mirror of Truth
If you remember the second part this series, you’ll remember that Marinette had a discussion with a magic mirror, and that mirror as you now will learn was the Mirror of Truth
Said Mirror of Truth has now become Marinette's guide due to the fact that Marinette’s Parable never showed up
So now The Mirror guides Marinette into choosing Vessels for the five books of those who can protect and save her.
Marinette has to assign five Parables to people she knows, she has to match them to the core values of each Parable, she has to subject five people she knows to the hell she was dragged into
She must assign The Thief: Jack to someone who knows the value of others and the arts
She must assign The Crooked Cat: Parn to someone who knows how to use trickery and mischief to gain more for themselves and the people they care about
She must assign Goldie Locks: Princess Leda to someone who wants to fix their past mistakes and better themselves
She must assign The Red Riding Hood Sister: Ruth to someone who can handle responsibility and have a cool head
She must assign The Dark Prince: Prince Fiachra to someone who listens to their heart and takes pride in what they do
Unfortunately each Parable comes with a drawback, which the Vessel will have to pay for.
Those who are Vessels for Jack become angry easier and are prone to get more violent.
Vessels of Parn have their instincts drive them, which wouldn’t be so bad, if they didn't take on the instincts of a predatory creature.
Vessels of Leda feel constant guilt and feel a feeling of remorse that is eating away at their insides.
Vessels of Ruth are constantly on edge, waiting for something to attack them, they are not able to trust others outside of the other Parables of the golden shelf.
Vessels of Fiachra feel hopelessness and have a burning under their skin to find something before an unknown time runs out.
And here is where we begin with the Vessel who gets Jack
Who other get a thief who appreciates others value then an artist by the name of Nathaniel Kurtzberg
If you remember in the last part, you’ll know that there are two people in Marinettes’ old class that felt something go wrong when Marinette went missing
Those two being Chloé Bourgeois and Nathaniel himself.
Let’s say for now that fate has a way of reaching out to those that are connected to a greater cause, and right now that cause is Marinette
It had been merely two days since the police had come and interviewed the class about Marinette’s disappearance and to say that Nathaniels’ patience was being tested was an understatement
Marinette may be missing, and she may not go to their school anymore, but the students of Collge Françoise Dupont still dearly love her, expect for one
Lila can not handle the fact that even now Marinette is a bigger topic then her, so obviously she's going to try and stir trouble
She goes for the path of ‘Marinette was part of a bad crowd, it's no wonder she went missing’
And boy does that make Nathaniel’s blood boil, he hasn’t felt this angry in and very long time, not since Evillustrator, but he’s not gonna let that happen again, no, he needs to do something more
So he he listens to the only other person who felt what he felt on the day Marinette went missing, one Chloé Bourgeois
And how lucky is he to find how much she can’t stand it either, after all, she’s known Marinette for a very long time, if someone would know about her, it would be Chloé
Plus, lucky for him, Chloé has connections, ones Lila could only dream of, so he goes to her and they start planning
What better way to discredit the liar than by showing all of Paris how great a person Marinette was?
So they begin their project, to show the world how much a better person Marinette was, a person Lila could never be
Unfortunately for Nathaniel, they’ll need some dirt on Lila first, and out of him and Chloé, he’s the one that less likely to be noticed as a ‘threat’ to Lila, so it’s up to him to follow her around
But this leads to him finding something odd
In the schools library, on a shelf in the back, a book stands out, It’s a deep forest green with the name “Jack” on it’s spine
It doesn't look like any of the other books in that library, and to Nathaniel, it is something he can’t ignore
Something like that has to be valuable and there's no way he’ll pass something like that up, even though he’s never had a thought like that before
So he snatches the book, it feeling oldly warm in his hands, it leather cover feeling well loved
He's just about to open it when he hears Lila and Alya come in the library and he quickly stuffs the book into his bag and gets on with his mission of collecting dirt on a certain fake fox
It isn’t til he emails the dirt to Chloé that night that he remembers the book in his bag, where it seems to be calling him now
With little hesitation, Nathaniel pulls out the book and opens it
All he sees is a flash of light and suddenly he’s somewhere new
He sees a windmill, and what seems to be a stump of some giant plant
And for some reason, this feels like home to him
He looks down to the book in his hands only to find it’s turned into a round mirror, not much larger than the palm of his hand
And reflecting back to him is a man he has never seen before, but he already knows deep inside him is Jack, The Thief who stole from the Sky Kingdom, and the Parable he’s a Vessel to
It is time to start Introducing the Parables!! Meet Jack, The Thief and someone whos gonna test Nathaniel's tempter!
