NOO IM CRYINg i found these bittersweet prompts AND?? 9 AND 10 GOODBYE that's basically canon revalink and im so sad now
user crow cryiling wants me to die y'all
9. “We won’t grow old together, will we?” “No, but we made memories that’ll outlive even us.”
for the longest fucking time, i've been wanting to write a fic where revalink is some level of established before the calamity, and they talk right before link is about to leave to go fight ganon at the castle. there are so many different ways i could write it go down but for this prompt... while everyone else is hopeful that they'll be able to beat calamity ganon, revali and link are much more perceptive of their fates. the calamity ganon is a beast unlike any other monsters they've faced together, it's a pure incarnation of an ancient evil that not even the heroes of the past have ever conquered. the other champions haven't gained full control of their beasts yet. zelda's powers have still not awakened. hell, link still has yet to tap into the full potential of the master sword. they were never going to have enough time, this battle was never meant to be won by them; it was never meant to be.
after daruk is finished delegating tasks to the other champions at mount lanayru, link turns to face revali and they both already know. this is it, this the end for them now.
link barely takes one step towards revali before the rito strides forward and wraps the little hylian tightly in his wings. link can barely take one breath before his vision is full of navy blue, his skin smothered in a warmth he's never going to be able to feel again, and the emotions he vowed to never show swell in his chest and rise from his ribcage up his throat, until link is choking back tears into revali's neck.
"it's alright, little jewel," revali murmurs into his hair, still holding him tightly. "we did what we could."
"i know," link whispers, blinded by his own tears and navy blue feathers. "i know. i'm still scared."
"the hylian champion and the wielder of the sword who seals the darkness? scared?" revali tries to tease, but even his voice betrays him. he's just as terrified as link is, with the barest tremble in his feathers.
link breathes in deeply, shutting his eyes and trying to will his tears away. "i wish we had more time," he mumbles into revali's neck. then, he looks up at his lover, with the same wide blue-eyed gaze for the last time. "we won't grow old together, will we?"
"no," revali replies softly, cupping link's face, "but we made memories that'll outlive even us." he presses their foreheads together shutting his eyes, and link holds revali's face in both hands to press a soft kiss to the middle of his beak.
"i love you," link whispers, voice cracking. "i love you so fucking much. i wanted everything with you after this."
"i as well," revali says, brushing link's cheek with a gentle thumb. "in another life, i hope the goddesses will be kinder to us. i'll meet you there in our next life and we can do everything we always wanted, alright? for now... fight that old beast like hell for me, darling." "as if i'd go down without a fight," link mutters, jaw tightening. "even if it kills me, i'll make sure it'll hurt him a hundred times harder."
footsteps approach and revali looks up to meet eyes with zelda, who wears a remorseful expression. he takes a breath and gives her a nod, before slowly, painfully, beginning to let go of link.
"it's time for you to take-off, songbird," revali murmurs. "give him everything you've got. and when you're ready to return, your heart will know where to find me."
link sniffles and pulls away, wiping his eyes with his sleeve. "he won't know what hit him," he says shakily. "til the next time, 'vali. i'll see you there."
"don't be late," revali replies softly, gaze ever so endeared upon link. "i'll be waiting for you, my love."
(they're right; the champions fall within their beasts, and as revali finally collapses to the ground from windblight's attacks, he faces hyrule castle swarmed in horrid, pulsing malice.
"return to me safely, songbird," he whispers and shuts his eyes, taking his final breath. revali can only hope that link will.)
10. “You’re only a memory to me now, but you’re my most cherished memory.”
for this one, i'm imagining link returning to vah medoh after he clears his final divine beast, the night before he plans to fight calamity ganon. i've always leaned towards the idea that link doesn't recall all of his memories and the memories you receive in-game are only flickers of a past link doesn't ever really get to remember so...
he doesn't remember what he had with revali pre-calamity per se, but he's the only ghost of the past that gets more than just flickers of memories. there was more to it than this, link knows it in his soul. it's been bothering him since impa first mentioned the divine beasts, since he saw the floating mechanical bird in the distance, since he stepped into rito village and laid his eyes on the landing... ever since he finally met revali atop vah medoh. link needs to know if there was more than just the facade that revali is playing.
"you're here again?" comes revali's voice when the warp finishes solidifying link's body. the little hylian looks up and the rito's ghostly green figure stands a couple feet in front of him upon the cold rock of the rito pillar, his arms crossed and his brows eternally furrowed into an expression of irritation. "don't you have better things to do rather than loitering around medoh? perhaps, oh i don't know, defeating calamity ganon once and for all?"
"i will," link replies, his voice soft and nearly carried away by the night wind. "tomorrow, i'm going to hyrule castle and i'm going to beat him."
revali stares incredulously at link for a few moments, searching his face as though he told a joke of some kind, before he relaxes. "well," revali says, looking away. "it's about time."
link stares at him, watching the way the ghostly green flames flicker around revali's body. "will you still be here when i defeat him?" he whispers, almost hoping that revali wouldn't hear him.
and he almost thinks he doesn't until revali turns to look back at him. he's silent for a couple moments just staring at link until he speaks. "i don't know," revali says finally. "our spirits have been chained to the divine beasts for a century, because we haven't fulfilled our role in assisting you defeat ganon. if you truly plan on fighting him tomorrow... our roles will have been finally fulfilled. i don't know if our spirits will remain here any longer."
"oh," link says and a freezing unease fills his gut. "oh. okay."
revali searches his face again. "why would you want us to stay?"
"well, i mean," link starts. "it's— i wouldn't actually care for anyone else to stay but you." he averts his eyes and swallows. "everyone else... i only remember a few things about them, nothing solid. i sometimes feel like those memories don't even belong to me. but with you..."
link looks up and meets revali's gaze. "every day since i've woken up, i always felt like there was something missing. and even after i relearned how to fight and speak and traveled to try to remember all those things, it still felt like something was missing. until i tried to remember you and— and it felt right, like you were all the missing puzzle pieces this entire time. there had to have been more, right?"
"there wasn't," revali replies stiffly. "we were champions, you were the hero, and there was nothing more."
"oh come on," link says, breathless and almost irritated. "there had to have been more than you just being an asshole to me all the time. please don't lie. you wouldn't have done that to me back then, would you?" and that's what gets the rito.
"don't do this," revali whispers, his arms dropping to his sides. his voice breaks and something in link tells him to reach out to hold the rito in his arms, to hug him tight and never let go again. "we can't do this. you can't try to remember me now, what we had, it's not worth it to put yourself through this pain. i'll only be a memory you can never recreate."
“you’re only a memory to me now," link says, resolve returning to his voice, "but you’re my most cherished memory. you're the only one i can remember like this, revali, you're the only memories i have. so please tell me; did you love me back then?”
the rito is silent for a while, but he eventually responds. "i did," revali whispers, staring mournfully, regretfully. "i'm sorry."
"don't be," link replies, taking a step towards him. "i think i loved you too. i wish i could remember."
"it would be better if you didn't," revali says and looks away. it stops link in his tracks, his heart pounding and his confidence crumbling.
"if you don't stay after i beat ganon," the little hylian whispers, staring at the ground and clenching his fists, "then i want you to know... i would have liked to make more memories with you. i would have liked to see where we would have ended up together. if we had more time together..."
he looks up at revali, who has since returned his gaze back onto link with an unreadable look in his eyes. "i'm sorry for coming back to torment you like this," link says instead. "you should be allowed to rest after waiting for me to free you after all these years. after i defeat ganon, i hope your spirit will rest well. goodbye, revali. i'll avenge you well." then, he turns and runs, jumping off the edge of the rock pillar unfolding the paraglider to glide back down to the village.
and revali lets him go, watching after link as he leaves again, every step translating into a piercing pain in his own ghostly chest. "i would have liked that too, snowdrop," revali whispers, placing a hand over his heart. for the first time in a hundred years, he feels it, that overwhelming feeling that threatens to spill from his eyes and shake his soul so deeply he shatters into a thousand pieces, lost and never to be whole again. "i would have, too..."

fic recs?? i have many that i could recommend. biggest one though right now is a legend of zelda fic (hyperfixation go brrr):
Moonlight (every single night) by Heleentje (https://archiveofourown.org/works/33768109/chapters/83938897): TIME LOOPS TIME LOOPS TIME LOOPS (and also a Champions Live AU!! how i love to see it)
pretty much, Link has to keep on repeating the five days after beating Ganon. (plus some stuff before that? the starting point for the loop is the morning Link wakes up before defeating ganon the first time around). it is an EXTREMELY engrossing piece of fiction, it had me going "oh shit" and cheering out loud at points. the characters are all top notch, they literally ALL feel so human. plus its depictions of grief are also very very good! because it's a time loop you of course get a lot of the same losses over and over again, but you still FEEL it each and every time. plus from a more narrative standpoint, it is PHENOMENAL with foreshadowing and pointing you in the right direction without giving anything away. it's not a funny or lighthearted fic (although there are moments like that), but that's part of what makes me like it.
also, it has PLENTY of side stories, currently sitting at eight. the main fic is finished, but side stories are still being added! (i feel like i should note that not all of these side stories are by Heleentje like the main fic, some of them are by Ginneke instead.) if you're completely unfamiliar with the general story of breath of the wild i would recommend taking a glance at the wiki first to give yourself some context but it should still be fine? you seem like the kind to jump into fics from fandoms you know nothing about anyway
overall an 11/10 fic for me!
ALSO a much quicker rec for The Pilgrim's Progress by Antares8 (https://archiveofourown.org/series/1051850), which is Over The Garden Wall. a beast!wirt series about acceptance with side themes of scapegoating in some of the later installments, plus some of the BEST worldbuilding i've ever seen in a fic. manages not to fall into the "way-too-dark-and-grim" pit that stops me from getting too far in a lot of longer beast!wirt things. also still a wip, and it takes a while to update, but it's very very good. this one should also be good if you don't know the source media, but honestly if you haven't already seen otgw already you really really should, it's shorter than most movies and so, so good.
i have a lot more fics i could recommend, but tumblr is starting to lag with how long this is so i think i should stop for now :P
I WAS HYPERFIXATING ON BOTW LAST MONTH/EARLY THIS MONTH BUT COULDN'T FIND ANY GOOD FANFIC SO I AM LOVING THAT YOU REC'D ONE
And also otgw is one of my favorite shows so I can't wait to read that

Wild’s Journey
@rhythmicreality @tortilla-of-courage
... Yeah I decided to post this.
So, this it what happened to Wild and his tiny fluffy baby wings.
Also hey! Tag list!
-----------------------------
Link couldn’t remember a time without wings.
He couldn’t remember a lot of things, but that’s not the point here.
When he woke up, a woman’s voice softly urging him to open his eyes, he didn’t immediately know they were there. The liquid (water?) drained from the pool he was laying in and he sat up completely dry. He swung his legs over the side to get out and froze at the feeling of something fluttering on his back.
He reached back there, running his fingers along his shoulders. It took him a moment to realize that they were a part of him, and he grew confused as to why he wouldn’t know that. He knew his feet were part of him, why not these soft, fluffy things on his back?
He pushed it aside when the woman started talking again, figuring that if there was a reason then he’d figure it out.
The worn clothing he’d found in the chests didn’t accommodate the fluffy things, which he had a feeling were wings by now, and so for the first long stretch of his time on the Great Plateau they were pressed uncomfortably between skin and fabric.
He tried jumping off a cliff when the Old Man said he couldn’t make it off the Plateau without dying. The Old Man was right. His wings were too small to fly, and if he jumped then he would die.
The warm doublet had holes for his wings. It itched and made him sweat a little easier, but it had holes for his wings. No more feathers between skin and fabric and getting ruffled and rubbed uncomfortably. He did not take it off until he got something else.
Impa had laughed when she saw his wings, which made him ruffled and caused his wings to puff up. Impa and Paya both thought it made him look cute, which only really made him more ruffled.
Impa did apologize, and directed him to a shop in the village that would modify clothing to accommodate his wings. She told him of what happened, and who to talk to.
Purah was thrilled by his wings, and took a picture of them with his repaired Slate so he could see them. A soft greyish brown, with little bits of blue in them. She said that they’d be really pretty when they fully came in. He didn’t understand that, and Purah sent him back to Impa.
Impa did explain. Apparently, at the end of their first quest, since some had many, the Hero and Princess who beat back the evils would gain wings. It explained why he was the only one with wings. Apparently when he died, and also he died and wasn’t THAT a shock, his wings had begun to come in, but by placing him in the Shrine of Resurrection it seemed to have halted that process. Purah seemed to believe that at some point, likely after he rescued Zelda, his wings would finish coming in.
He got himself a new outfit, this time comfortable and with holes for his wings, and headed on his way.
He got dragged into Zora’s domain, and met Sidon, who didn’t notice the wings until after his father pointed out who Link was. After that, Sidon got really excited, and spent a moment cooing over Link’s wings.
Link, finding his enthusiasm sweet and rather cute, for as much as a ten foot tall shark man could be cute, fluttered his wings.
Sidon was thrilled about that.
Muzu caved the second Link put on the tunic. It was hard to argue who it could be for when Mipha had specifically tailored slits for his wings.
He got the shock arrows from the lynel, and he joined Sidon in fighting Ruta to free it and Mipha, someone Link barely remembered but knew had loved him dearly. She had planned to propose after all.
Mipha also thought his wings were cute, and, though he was still ruffled, found he wasn’t as mad when she said it. He thought he might have missed her a lot.
Her grace in hand, he headed for Death Mountain.
He made a stop on his way in Akkala, locating the Robbie that Purah mentioned. The man was, eccentric, and Link couldn’t find the source of that sound that played for effect when he spoke occasionally. It bothered him. The man was helpful though, and offered up a few more thoughts on Link’s wings.
Link didn’t stay long, intent on saving the rest of the friends he couldn’t remember.
He had to hide his wings on Death Mountain as well. The feathers caught fire too easily. This was annoying.
Yunobo was great though, and when Link downed a flamebreak potion once so he could stretch his wings, Yunobo thought they were fascinating. He treated them with so much care and gentleness, like he thought he’d break them or something. It was sweet.
Daruk had laughed, said he was finally growing into his role. He also thought Link’s wings were downright adorable, and Link was only mildly put out by that phrasing.
The Korok forest was adorable, and Link loved the koroks. They loved him too, and he let them preen his wings when they asked because of how excited they were. It was really cute.
It was also the cleanest his wings had been since he woke up.
He had been excited to meet the Rito, they were after all bird people. They had wings too. He hoped that maybe, when his wings came in fully, they’d teach him how to fly.
Teba was an asshole. He was also stubborn and determined, and willing to throw down with a Divine Beast. As someone also stubborn and determined and willing to throw down with a Divine Beast, Link could respect that.
He made a note to come back to the flight range when his wings came in for practice.
Revali, once free, had laughed at how small Link’s wings were at first, making Link really upset that he couldn’t punch a ghost. Then Revali softened up, just for a second, and said that Link’s wings would be gorgeous when they came in, and that he was impressed. Then he went back to being a self-entitled jerk.
It was okay though, Link forgave him. Even if he was still bitter about being unable to punch a ghost.
The only place left was Gerudo Desert, and Link found his first issue in the form of being a man. He did meet a woman who sold him an outfit to disguise himself as a woman so he could sneak in.
(And if he, as he wandered the streets of Gerudo Town, learned that he sometimes wanted to be she, well, that was her business.)
Riju was very helpful. Buliara was not. And so Link found herself tasked with stealing something back from the Yiga. They needed the Thunder Helm to get to Naboris, and the Yiga stole it, so it had to be stolen back. Prove yourself, she said. Ugh.
The Yiga pissed her off. And Kogah was a joke. That was all she wanted to comment about that matter.
Riju was more than happy to lead Link right into the storm, facing down the Divine Beast with prejudice. One more, then a few more shrines and the rest of her memories.
Urbosa, once saved from the most difficult of Blights (Link wasn’t bitter, shut up), had been very happy to see him. She smiled, and said she was proud of him, and mentioned how beautiful his wings would be when they came in. She asked him to look after Zelda. And then she sent him on his way.
Link had to blink back tears before Riju met up with him again. No one had said they were proud of him yet.
Riju caught on however, and then Link was dragged back to the streets of Gerudo Town until Riju had found something for her to wear on her wings. It was good.
Not long after that, Link went back to the scene of his death, trying to remember.
Rain, mud under foot, the princess behind him. Don’t stop, keep moving, keep her safe.
A whirring, followed by light.
Link raised his shield to block, the beam shattering the already flimsy wooden shield into splinters. He stumbled, slipping on the mud and falling to one knee. The Master Sword hit the dirt to balance him. He could hear Zelda speaking to him, but through the adrenaline and exhaustion there was very little that registered.
The beeping of a tracker locking on. Link forced himself to his feet, stumbling back. He was already injured, too injured to fight. His whole body ached, but still he stood. They would not get Zelda.
And then she was in front of him, and he opened his mouth to call out to her, but froze when he actually looked at her. A glowing triangle adorned her hand, and a golden light spilled out from her. Link watched, the pressure in his shoulder blades finally easing, just a bit.
He blinked hard once. Twice. He collapsed.
Words were hard to make out, but he could sense Zelda was worried. His last clear memory was her panicked expression as his eyes slipped shut.
Link gasped. The memory left him shaking, and he dropped to his knees. That was the day he died.
He took a day, just laid in bed in his house in Hateno. He needed it, to just decompress.
He got up the next morning, traveled to a stable and saddled up a horse, and then marched off to face Ganon.
Master sword in hand, his friends raining down covering fire for him, Link faced Calamity Ganon, Zelda’s voice ringing in his ears and mind.
The first half of the fight was hard, a drain on his body and what little energy he had left after fighting his way through the castle. And then he thought it was over. Ganon was gone.
He wasn’t.
Zelda called to him, warning him that Ganon had changed himself.
Link was standing in an empty field with his horse, a monster ten times any he’d ever faced before leering down at him.
This, Dark Beast Ganon was easily the size of a Divine Beast, but made of pure malice, and looking to kill him. More so than the Divine Beasts, that is.
Zelda gave him a bow, and arrows made of light, and told him to fire on the targets.
He did.
Mounting Epona, his dear horse Epona, and taking off around the monstrous boar, he drew back the string and aimed.
He ignored the tension in his shoulders and jaw, ignored how fluffed up and quivering his wings were, ignored the shaking of his hands. The only thing that mattered in that moment was his bow and the arrows and the monster he was aiming at.
One target, two, five. Link existed just to fight and shoot and dodge.
He wasn’t fast enough, the arrow flew, and it stuck, but Ganon got in a hit too.
All of Link’s air flew out of his lungs when he hit the ground, Epona whinnying and the sound of hooves thudding away from him.
He rolled, gritting his teeth, and struggling to his feet, left hand still wrapped tightly around the Bow of Light like a lifeline. He lifted his head and met the monster’s stare.
(Looking back, he’d say he felt the pressure. He’d say he felt the release. He’d say he could feel his wings come in. He's lying everytime he does.)
Flames licked at his skin and clothes and feathers, and the monster growled at him.
‘Link! Look up there!’
Link’s eyes traveled up to the glowing, golden point on the monster’s forehead. A target.
‘That’s the very core of Ganon’s being!’ Zelda coached in his mind, and Link nodded. ‘Do what you must, Link!’
Link struggled to his feet, spitting blood from where he’d bit his tongue, and faced the monster.
Ganon roared, charging him.
Link caught an updraft and went up, and how he gained the air without his paraglider was lost on him, though barely an afterthought as he drew back his bow.
Link aimed true, and loosed the arrow with the perfect accuracy he had come to be known for.
The shockwave it caused knocked him out of the air, greyish brown feathers obscuring his vision as he tumbled through the sky and back to the ground with a harsh thud.
It took him a minute to regain his breath, and shove the soft, strong wing covering him aside, before he got a look at Zelda.
She was almost exactly as he remembered her, only bathed in a glowing, golden light, and in possession of the most beautiful set of wings he’d ever seen.
The top half of her wings were a light blue, but the bottom half were pure white. The feathers closest to her back, her secondary and tertiary feathers, were longer than the rest and seemed to flutter behind her in the soft breeze that even still moved across the field.
Link could only see her back, and he was robbed of what little breath he had left.
For a moment, just a moment, he swore he was looking at Hylia herself.
He missed what happened in the moments that followed, still struggling to reorient himself and lost in the golden glow of the princess, but he got the important part. Ganon was gone. For good.
The light faded and Link’s senses returned one by one, the adrenaline crash would be brutal, but he utilized what still lingered in his system to push himself back to his feet, standing to face the princess, to face Zelda.
He missed the first few words she said, but he understood the last question clearly.
“Do you really remember me?”
Link couldn’t stop the stupid grin that stretched across his face. He nodded.
They crashed together, a mess of limbs and wings, blue and white and greyish brown feathers fluttering to the ground around them. Link held on tight, relieved to finally, finally, have a friend from before back, grateful to have not lost everything. Zelda likely was just glad to have something, someone, solid to hold on to after so long.
He denied being surprised when Zelda commented on his wings. He denied it then and will continue to deny it to his dying day. He knew they were there. Shut up.
Zelda took a picture for him, so he could see them. Greyish brown, with a long stripe of blue down the middle of the backside from shoulder to tip, and a soft orange starting at the base of his wings on the inside and fading into the rest as they went along.
“They look like a peregrine falcon,” Zelda commented once, sitting nearby as Impa and Paya ran fingers through their wings and preened for them.
Link had just hummed, content to let it be.
Now, he just had to convince her that throwing himself off a cliff was a perfectly reasonable way to learn how to fly...

spsppspsspps its ya boy back with the random loz questions IN ALL THE GAMES YOUVE PLAYED or even ones you havent WHAT is your favorite boss/mini boss?
OKIE SO
I have SO many bosses/minibosses I love so I'm going to split it between gameplay and cinematics
Gameplay
For this section my favorite boss goes to Majora from Majora's Mask!! That guy is SO HARD and ALL OVER THE PLACE but you know what?? I wouldn't have a boss any other way. Screw all the 'time it perfectly and press A' strategies, let me find my own openings and smack him with whatever i have in my inventory!! Of course I was SUPER YOUNG when I first played Majora and always got SO PISSED OFF at his fight because I just COULDN'T beat him, so I finished the mask collection for the moon children and accidentally discovered the Fierce Diety's Mask AND I WIPED THE FLOOR WITH MAJORA AND FELT SO GOOD ABOUT IT NOW THAT'S WHAT I CAN AN UNFAIR FIGHT (AFFECTIONATE)
As for favorite miniboss, this one is much more difficult! Twilight Princess has some brilliant minibosses like the Darknut and Iron Hammer, but King Bulblin takes the cake for me. All of his fights!! I especially liked the fight on the Bridge of Eldin (saving Colin and then rearing Epona up with some triumphant music was SO GOOD) in general I really enjoy chasing him around on my horse and jabbing at him, the jousting on the bridge was SO cool, and fighting him one on one was really satisfying. All around, really great miniboss.
Cinematic
This one is a HARD one. Mostly my choices for favorite boss consists of final bosses and they're all so wicked cool to me. On this list is Ganondorf from both Twilight Princess and Wind Waker (WICKED COOL), Malladus from Spirit Tracks (the music and the use of both Zelda and Link put this one extremely high) and Calamity Ganon from BOTW (literally the only downside to this fight is that it feels too samey to the other Blights).
All in all, I narrowed this one down to a hard tie between Dark Beast Ganon and Demise. Dark Beast Ganon has earned a reputation for being stupid easy, but come on. Don't tell me the combination of music, cutscenes, giant malice pig design, Zelda's voice in the background, the bow of light, riding a horse-- ITS SO SICK OKAY I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I EAT THAT UP!! On the other hand there's Demise. He's Demise. He's probably one of the single coolest villains in the franchise. Not only does he look scary, but the STAGE,, the whole endless plane of water, the lightning storm-- SKYWARD LIGHTNING STRIKES ARE SO COOL??? And the way he walks toward you super menacingly and you duel it out magic sword to magic sword. And his LINES!! The curse of Demise ending off the fight... ooughgh the chills. In the Wise Words of Megamind, it's all about;
As for minibosses, I really REALLY love Naydra as a miniboss. I know it doesn't fight back, which makes it stupid easy, but the entire point is that you're trying to save it. The eerie music was wonderful, paired with the dragon's malice design: and my FAVORITE part is that it isn't even hinted at, you you have literally stumble upon it. I first found Naydra while I was looking for gems and exploring up the mountain casually. The poor thing gave me a heart attack.
.
For our honorable mentions, I have to talk about koloktos skyward sword because I just ADORE how fun that boss is; i love the way you can just,, TEAR IT APART AND BEAT IT WITH ITS OWN LIMBS
Also Igos du Ikana was always a memorable boss for me when I played Majora's Mask as a kid, he's so funny!
Lastly, I really liked Bellumbeck from Phantom Hourglass. That game has got some REALLY good underrated moments and I definitely consider Bellumbeck to be one of them
#HI HI HI HYPER MY BELOVED SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG#ask#the legend of zelda#loz#skyward sword#breath of the wild#twilight princess#majora's mask#wind waker#phantom hourglass#spirit tracks#off topic but the prize for best miniboss music goes DIRECTLY to Wind Waker. WIND WAKER MINIBOSS MUSIC IS SO GOOD#When I tell you I actually dragged out the fights on purpose just so that I could listen to it??? That's some good music.

Alright, I’m half asleep and I’m pretty sure that Nintendo isn’t gonna do anything like this and that I’ve missed something, but I think it would be an interesting au at the least. This got kinda long for an ask im so sorry—
so! At this point I think that a lot of people have assumed that Flora has the entire triforce (because whats what it seems like after beating dark beast ganon, the entire triforce is on the back of her hand instead of just wisdom being filled in) at that point it’s safe to assume that with her in possession of Courage, Wisdom, and Power that Ganondorf/Ganon doesn’t have it at all in any way shape or form. Sure, he and Link still carry their own hero spirit or spirit of demise, but they don’t have the actual power of the triforce.
so i think that would make the “Ganondorf” raisin that they find in the game trailer just an empty shell from the past(because he sure looks like he’s been there since the Link 10,000 years before Wild, but that’s a whole other theory). (Sure, there might be malice, but the way I see the triforce of power itself is that it isn’t necessarily able to make someone do things that can be viewed as evil, more like if the person had evil intentions the triforce of power would amplify that. Like how Ganondorf in oot wouldn’t have done anything if link had stayed in the forest. Maybe he already had plans for taking the triforce for his own, but he couldn’t have done much if Zelda and Link hadn’t interfered.) And Flora had already sealed away Pig Ganon, so it’s also safe to assume that the essence of Ganon/Ganondorf and demise isn't coming back for a long time.
So if Nintendo does go with my basic knowledge of Zelda, then the Ganondorf Rasin could do one or two things: absolutely nothing and is just there, or be used as a puppet for a whole entire new threat. A new bad guy could be absolutely terrifying if Nintendo played their cards right, and with the ?Skyloft/Sacred Realm? thing, there could be a bad guy like Girihiam who is the mastermind behind everything
Sorry this got so long! I’ve got waaaay too many ideas about this next game
aaa tumblr mobile ate this okay, for the flora thing...i know people like saying that, but I want to say this; that theory is baseless. I have watched that ending about 5 times. Yes, the triforce is on her bubble. No, it is not on her hand. Believe me, I checked. That's like saying Warriors has the whole triforce because the fire rods special attack has the full triforce imagery. Sorry if that sounded ranty, I just think people are looking for something that isn't there ^^
But I love this theory!!

Desired Fate, Chapter 18
Read on AO3
Read on FF.net
I wanted to post this tomorrow, but I couldn’t wait any longer. Here it is! Warning, this chapter is coming at you with razor blades and lemon juice. You were warned.
Revali drew back the string of the Great Eagle Bow, preparing to deliver the killing strike to Windblight Ganon as it had grown more and more languid in its movement, and while it was still distracted by Sooga.
“This is it!” Revali called victoriously, letting the bomb arrows fly.
Sooga dodged the incoming explosives and they collided with Windblight in a grand explosion. The creature’s resounding bestial shriek was like a reward for a battle well fought.
Lowering his bow, Revali watched, savoring the moment as the blight hemorrhaged malice. He had faced the most grueling battle he’d ever experienced, and he would live to regale his fellow Rito of his triumph.
He turned his attention to the Yiga, still at a loss for their motivations. What had possessed them to turn against Calamity Ganon?
Well, whatever… Revali thought. At least it wasn’t the vexingly silent knight wielding the sacred blade who came to save the day. He’d never live it down if it had been him…
Revali alighted before the two, holding back any outward sign of exhaustion or weakness. He regarded the Yiga with a hard look of suspicion.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I must thank you for coming to my aid. But just as a warning, if you do anything to make me question this...alliance, I won’t hesitate to -”
“Your threats won’t be necessary,” Sooga said simply, resheathing his dual blades.
Sooga’s words were clear despite the mask he wore, yet Revali paused, contemplating his words, not fully believing the situation. Revali braced himself for a surprise attack that never came as the moments passed.
He stared into the inverted crimson eye painted on Sooga’s horned mask and the long crack that ran across it, slightly unnerved that he could not see the man’s eyes or facial expressions. He’d have to rely on the man’s body language and tone of voice for assurance that he was not a threat.
Kohga approached, having remained a safe distance away during the fight. “Well done, Sooga! That was quite the display of Yiga bravado.”
Revali opened his beak to say something more, but before he could form the words, their attentions were drawn to the thunderous and deliberate footsteps of a Divine Beast.
He lifted off the surface of Vah Medoh to see which of the other Champions had come to his aid. Kohga and Sooga likewise rushed across the mossy stone that stretched the wingspan of Vah Medoh to look out into the distance.
“This should be interesting…” Revali remarked as he watched Vah Naboris approach.
“Urbosa’s coming….?! ...That’s our cue to leave!” Kohga blurted before retreating into a cloud of smoke and falling talismans.
Sooga turned to Revali and shook his head. “Master Kohga can be a bit of a coward when it comes to the Gerudo Chief. “Uh… Don’t tell him I told you that!” And with that Sooga followed after Kohga, leaving Revali alone.
----------------
The was a sterile, stillness that belied the Champion’s victory over the blights as Hyrule Field was cast in a dreary grey. There would be no breathtaking sunset to behold, nor the comfort the moon’s brilliant glow could bring, only the world darkening as night crept in.
The four that had seized the bokoblin camp for a moment of rest could sense the encroaching storm from the dark clouds above, but none spoke of it aloud.
Robbie cleared his throat. There was no longer a levity in his voice. “Where are you headed next?”
Astor didn’t meet Robbie’s eyes as he smoothed Zelda’s long golden hair with his gloved hand. It took a moment for him to respond, too focused on her downcast gaze.
“Fort Hateno... That’s where she is fated to awaken her inner power.”
“Then I wish you both luck.” Robbie offered, humbly.
Zelda hung her head and Astor squeezed her hand in comfort. The bleak refrain of Zelda’s court came to mind.
Heir to a throne of nothing…
She said nothing in response, and he wondered if she was thinking the same. She seemed to have retreated inward, having cried herself out.
Purah leaned forward to address Zelda. “Princess, I have faith in you, I do. You are not alone and we’re not going to give up trying to turn back the Calamity. I think we could all benefit if we set up camp here and call it a day. And if any monsters come by, we’ll beat them with our flails.”
“No… I must go to Fort Hateno right away.” Zelda replied shakily.
“I hate to be blunt, Princess, but you aren’t in any condition to operate the Master Cycle.”
“I’ll be fine, Purah.”
She didn’t sound fine.
Zelda quivered in his arms, and Astor’s chest tightened with unfamiliar apprehension.
Purah’s earlier antics would have made Kohga proud. Just like Kohga, she was perceptive, yet Astor was relieved to see a more serious side to her - as the situation demanded. He just hoped Zelda would heed Purah’s warning.
“A rest wouldn’t disturb fate, Zelda. And you do need the rest,” said Astor.
Purah and Robbie observed the couple pensively, and Astor felt like an oddity under their analytical gaze - as if they were trying to ascertain what Zelda had done to tame the Prophet of Doom himself - something Astor was in awe of as well.
“I won’t rest until I awaken my inner power,” Zelda said with as much determination as she could muster looking up at him with reddened, weary eyes. “We don’t have a moment to waste. Let us be on our way.”
Astor followed Zelda. Despite his fatigue, despite his trepidation about getting back on the Master Cycle, he couldn’t fathom not going with her.
“Astor!” Robbie called after him.
“Hm?”
“Take care of her.”
-----------
Their journey to Fort Hateno proved to be miserable and treacherous as it had begun to rain not long after they departed. As they neared the West Necluda region, the moisture laden clouds above spilled their cold tears on the Goddess’s descendant and her elect. The rain slicked the grass and turned the packed earth roads to mud. The Master Cycle was at times buffeted by strong winds that made it difficult to maneuver. Visibility was low. Bridges became slippery.
Astor’s grip on Zelda’s waist tightened. Dread and guilt crept in as she began to second-guess her decision.
Why are we doing this? All my previous attempts to awaken my power have failed. What is it about Fort Hateno that will suddenly change everything? Ugh, I can’t allow myself to think like this.
The Master Cycle traversed through Dueling Peaks, and Zelda felt as though those towering cliffs were pressing in on them. The cliffs gave way to a vast plain, and the mountains in the distance were barely an outline in the night sky.
Zelda took care as they crossed the Big Twin Bridge, breathing out in relief when she had made it to the other side.
Almost there…
Even as Blatchery Plain stretched out before them, Zelda felt no closer to awakening the power within herself, and she didn’t know what recourse she had if this too did not work. These thoughts lingered as she pressed onward.
Blatchery Plain lay in ruin, desolate, and devoid of life - or so it seemed. A figure appeared in the immediate dim horizon, and Zelda’s heart froze as she swerved to avoid colliding with it. The Master cycle dipped a little too far for comfort to one side. Her heart thumped rapidly as she struggled to keep it upright. The tires squelched through the mud as they veered off the path and then returned.
“It keeps finding us…” Zelda said worriedly.
“Ganon always knows where we are…” Astor replied, trying not to let fear enter his voice.
Zelda looked back over her shoulder, a pit opening in her stomach when she realized the Harbinger wasn’t as far back as she expected. No, it was following them at a speed unlike other Guardians.
“Astor, whatever you do, hold on tight…” her voice was nearly muffled by the rumble of the engine.
A chill ran down Astor’s spine as he perceived the words of Calamity Ganon. It was a voice he knew all too well from prophetic dreams, the one that had urged him so fervently to kill the princess.
You are nothing, my wayward prophet without a prayer.
“Leave me alone!” Astor screamed, tearing his circlet that bore the eye of malice from his forehead. He turned and pitched it at the charging Harbinger. The red and yellow stone was crushed under its rampaging claw the next moment.
Do you think you can rid yourself of me that easily? That was merely an outward symbol of your devotion to me. Nothing more. You’ll never be able to wash the taint of malice away. Everyone is going to know who you are and what you did. You belong to me!
With the Harbinger closing in on them, Zelda pushed the Master Cycle to its limit. The engine chugged. Her stomach soured as the cycle struggled to gain speed.
There was a dreamlike sensation of slow-motion despite her rapid heartbeat, beating in time with Astor’s against her back. She felt as though -
The Harbinger’s laser is trained on them and after what feels like a silent eternity it fires. The high-powered beam of ancient energy tears through his back and exits her chest. They are enveloped in a blinding blue light as that final scream of failure is ripped from her.
She snapped herself out of that grim vision, still awash in panic. It had been easy to outrun the Harbinger in the Lost Woods, but there was nothing to slow its chase out in the open plain.
Her panic-fueled delirium reached a fever pitch. She didn’t dare look again, but she could hear the gurgle of malice and the mechanical whirring of the automaton itself.
Goddess Hylia... It’s right on us...How is it so fast? It’s somehow running at full tilt on three mechanical legs just to get at us. The effort alone should cause it to break down. It wasn’t designed to go at that speed.
Zelda despaired, thinking of how something her mother made so long ago with loving care had been corrupted by Calamity Ganon.
This was her final thought as the Harbinger swung its distended bladed arm, colliding with the vehicle’s back tire. The Master Cycle wavered pathetically from the force of the automaton’s slap, and then went down, skidding through the mud.
The sky and ground spun as she felt herself hit the ground, narrowly missing becoming pinned under the fallen Master Cycle.
The falling rain on her skin brought Zelda back to a vague awareness. Groaning, she opened her eyes. She barely registered that they were lying in a crumpled heap, but when she did, she reached for Astor as he stirred slightly. Her hands moved over him as she fought to regain her bearings.
“Astor… Please say something...” She could only mumble as her fingers stroked the braids that draped the side of his face.
Astor sucked in a breath, wincing. “I... think I’m still in one piece…”
There was mud all over her dress and numerous scrapes on her exposed shoulders and arms. The rain stung her open wounds, but that was only the beginning of her pain.
Lifting her head weakly, she saw that the Master Cycle was a complete loss - and the Harbinger loomed over them, its corrupted red display ebbing outward hypnotically as it regarded them.
“Zelda, run....” Astor urged her, helplessly.
She took in the glowing blue of the Harbinger’s many blades. It was toying with them, taking its time as a predator with prey.
“I can’t outrun it any more than you can. I won’t leave you.” Zelda gripped his hand, her voice resigned and weak.
The Harbinger began to emit a discordant tune.
To Zelda, it sounded so familiar in her mental haze but deeply wrong. However, Astor knew it all too well.
There were times when the Harbinger used to play a strange song. Even Kohga and Sooga had heard it ‘sing’ at odd intervals. They didn’t know what to think at first. Then, Astor learned the origins of the Harbinger and he realized its significance. The tune was little more than a malfunction - simply the machinery morbidly regurgitating a lullaby meant for the princess out of key. Kohga and Sooga’s howls of laughter carried through the Yiga Hideout on the day they came to the same realization, much to Astor’s annoyance. The toy Zelda had once cherished was now possessed by the most malignant spirit in the realm and Astor was hanging on its every instruction.
“I’m sorry this happened to you, Terrako…” Zelda said numbly.
And then Astor heard her make a seizing sound. The alarm and pain in her voice turned his stomach to rot.
Zelda stared at her feet in horror. They were as black as a decomposing corpse. She held them out as if paralyzed with pain. The same concerning blackness had appeared on her cheek, and others were appearing elsewhere, spreading.
“No, not her!” Astor screamed, taking hold of her in his arms.
Malice licked and traveled her body like a flame. It had started at her feet, blackening her skin and sandals, and traveled up. The malice infected her body, consuming her dress, her hair, and finally blooming in the whites of her eyes.
He cradled her in his arms, her darkened eyes staring back at him in wide open agony, and he wished the malice would consume him as well. She opened her mouth to say something, but the only sound that came forth was a terrible gasping sound.
“No… No…”
He pressed his face into the exposed skin of her shoulder, feeling the blighted flesh against his own. Her body gave no warmth, just a husk of her former beauty.
The anguish crashing down on him was unbearable as his raging thoughts took over - Hylia’s words turning over and over again in his mind, and all the things he wished he’d told Zelda.
I was supposed to die that way. Not her… I can’t let her die believing she’s a failure.
Hyrule’s future lay in ruin along with his own. What was fate if even the prophecy of the Goddess could be undone?
The Harbinger watched the prophet grieve, viewing the scene in the red tones of its censor. Certain the princess who bore the goddess’s blood would soon pass away, it turned to retreat.
Astor raised his head, hearing himself utter words he never thought possible.
“I love her… Know this, Calamity Ganon...I love her!” His voice shuddered in horrible defeat and desolation. “And I always will...”
Zelda grit her teeth as she shakily held her wasted right hand high.
The Harbinger had stopped in its tracks. It had ignored its former prophet’s confession, but now sensed a holy power brewing within the nearly lifeless girl.
A golden light had manifested in the palm of her hand, and in the next instant intensified into a brilliant and blinding dome that eclipsed the field.
Astor lifted his arm to shield his eyes, still embracing her with the other.
The dome of light faded out. Astor opened and closed his eyes, his vision coming back into focus.
“That light… It's…”
She held her arm out still, rigidly. Astor could only stare in awe at the unmistakable triangular mark on the back of her hand, and when her extended arm began to falter, he clasped her hand before it could fall limply to her side.
Zelda serenely closed her eyes. Astor thought he heard her exhale softly as she sank back into his arms, going limp. The black malice receded slowly, beginning at the sacred mark on her hand. The skin beneath had an otherworldly immaculate quality to it. And though the malice departed from her body and hair, it was plain to see that her clothing and jewelry would remain corroded and black.
The Harbinger was gone. Astor could only imagine it had retreated. There was nothing but the calming sound of rain falling as it began to taper off, and the dark clouds began to break, leaving nothing but the starry night sky and the moon. Astor’s gaze rested on the soft rise and fall of her chest.
There was the clanging of armor and Astor turned his head to see two Hyrulian soldiers approach.
“What was that light?” The soldier let his gaze fall on the girl in Astor’s arms and then the wrecked vehicle, going silent.
“Who are you? What did you do to the princess!?” the other barked.
“I... I’m her seer. I helped her awaken her sacred power.” Astor gave them a tired, elated smile, too thankful to Hylia that Zelda was alive to demand respect from these two lowly Hyrulean Soldiers.
The soldiers glanced at one another skeptically, not sure whether to take the strange, suspicious man at his word, but there was no denying the light shining dully from Zelda’s hand.
“Should we believe him? I know of no royal seer in attendance to the princess. Where is her appointed knight?”
“He certainly doesn’t look the least bit royal to me… Anyways, we need to get Her Highness to safety. Alright, Sir, you’re going to carry Her Highness to Fort Hateno, and you’re going to mind your hands while you do.”
Astor bit back a scathing insult and gathered the princess in his arms, following the soldiers in the direction of their destination. It wasn’t long before his arms ached terribly, and he didn’t think he would be able to carry her any longer, especially in his condition.
“Just a little further,” the first soldier said, not unkindly.
Astor adjusted his aching arms, Zelda still not stirring, and he pressed on.
They passed by countless broken-down Guardians.
“That light… It seems to have disabled the Guardians in the vicinity.” The soft-spoken soldier remarked.
They passed through the raised iron gate and the stone-faced soldier directed Astor to a tent.
“She can rest here. You rest over there,” the soldier ordered testily, pointing to another tent some distance away.
“You must be joking... We haven’t been apart during the entirety of the Calamity.” Astor felt the words leave his mouth helplessly.
“I care not! And I’m going to be keeping an eye on these tents to make sure nothing untoward happens until she can be reunited with her rightful appointed knight or advisor.”
Astor’s chest tightened, furious and in disbelief at the soldier’s callousness. “Just what are you accusing me of? We were attacked! Listen to me, you presumptive scab, there’s a very dangerous Guardian still out there and it's not done with us. I can’t leave her side. She’s incapacitated and defenseless.”
The soldier drew his sword. “Which is exactly why I won’t let you stay by her side,” he spat. “I’m not going to let you take advantage of the Calamity and sully her reputation, whoever you are. You expect me to believe your tall tales? I’ve yet to see a Guardian I couldn’t handle. Now, do as I say. I’m already granting you far more accommodation than you deserve!”
Astor shut his eyes in surrender and hugged the girl in his arms, knowing he could not afford to escalate the situation any further. He laid her in the tent and then turned to tiredly lurch toward the other, grumbling under his breath about how he was going to be sleeping with one eye open.
In his dreams, they stand under the Blood Moon hand in hand. The sky and land are awash in a scarlet glow. As her right hand clasps his left, he can sense her power resonating. Zelda stares up at the beast circling her home, undaunted, and smiles.

Hey! Before anything I have to admit I found your stories and I LOVED them! And I just found out you were the author to those fantastic stories! I would love to read, from your perspective, how did our heroes met Wild! Or even better how all of them met! I’m sorry if this is a bother
Thank you that’s so kind! Not a bother at all! Sorry again about it taking some more time. I hope you enjoy!
Two months. It had been two months since a strange man introduced himself as Link and asked him to join him on an interdimensional quest. Because of course he did. The first few days it was just Link and him, and he realized he was the man that guided him on his quest to defeat Ganon, and therefore knew his secret. Link had jokingly taken to calling him ‘Pup’ so he growled and responded by calling him ‘Old Man’. They stuck with those nicknames for a few days, until they were transported to another Hyrule. There they met the gentle Hero of Sky, as he introduced himself.
Twilight didn’t mention the way Time eyed the Master Sword. This new Link had called them the Hero of Time and The Hero of Twilight. Apparently the sword told him. At first, the newly deemed Hero of Twilight had no idea what he was talking about, then Sky had told them who had forged the Master Sword. Sky himself. And he had joined without a second thought, although he did seem sad when he mentioned leaving his Zelda. And now they were an official group of three, with official nicknames. The very night they found Sky, they were taken to another new Hyrule. Hylia wasn’t wasting any time, it seemed.
Finding the next heroes was much easier. Apparently Time had had a hell of a time finding Twilight. Sky’s Master Sword seemed to whisper to him when they got too far off track, leading them through deadlands and tall trees. There they found the Hero of Hyrule. He was sweet and shy, not quite knowing what to do with his hands when he talked to them. It was obvious his Hyrule had suffered and he had grown up in the scars Ganon had left on the land. He joined, although he looked at all of them wearily.
The next had been the Hero of Legend. Twilight thought he was an asshole. He was snarky and blunt and rude. Twilight had a hard time keeping his cool around him. Time had taken him aside and told him the Hero of Legend had been on more quests than all of them, and had most likely seen many horrible things. That made Twilight more forgiving. He still didn’t like him.
Once again they were thrown into a different Hyrule. This time the Master Sword led them to a small blacksmith shop. There they met the smallest teenager they had ever seen. The Hero of Four Swords. They had no idea why the sword called him that, but they didn’t know the meaning behind each other's names at all really. Sky lived in the Sky, Legend had been on many quests, Hyrule saved Hyrule? Maybe Time saved a giant clock or something.
An hour later they were in a new Hyrule. Hylia seemed to be getting more and more impatient. This time they found the Hero of Warriors, or as Legend called him, Pretty Boy. Twilight could see why. He seemed extremely popular with women in his Hyrule and he knew it. But he had a quiet power to him as well. Eyes that said he has seen war and triumphed. That explained the name. Hylia let them rest for a day this time, before tossing them somewhere else. How many Links were there going to be? Twilight didn’t know how much he could handle.
They landed on a beach. More specifically an island, with a vast ocean that hit their noses with a salty smell. There they found the Hero of Wind. An enthusiastic and happy 14 year old boy. It sent a small stutter through his heart when he realized how young Wind was, but he seemed happy enough. Hopefully his adventure hadn’t scarred the boy too much. Warriors and Wind had gotten on like a wildfire, almost instantly gaining a bond that Twilight wouldn’t admit he was jealous of. Wind barley got to say goodbye to his family before they were thrown to another Hyrule. But this time, the sword didn’t speak. Finally they could focus on the mission Hylia was going to give them. They were a band of eight Links.
It had taken two weeks to assemble all of the Links completely, and it had been six weeks since then. Over the few weeks they had managed to form some team dynamics. Time was the unanimous unofficial leader that no one really questioned, and that was fine with everybody. Twilight and Warriors would both try to assist him in leading when they split up or when Time was busy, which caused the two to butt heads on more than one occasion. No matter how annoying Warriors and the other boys got though, he still felt a strong kinship with them. Legend had taken a subtle shine to Hyrule, and Sky and Four had gotten close as well. Twilight shouldn’t be jealous, after all he has Time. But he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off, something was missing. He never mentioned anything, he didn’t know if the others felt the empty hole in their dynamic, and there was no way he would be the first to mention it. Twilight knew Time was aware something was going on, but what was he supposed to say? Twilight himself didn’t understand what was wrong.
It’s not that Twilight thought he didn’t belong, the others had included him in conversations and he has befriended all of them to an extent. There was just a missing piece that he couldn’t explain.
“Pup. I’ve been trying to get your attention.” Time stated, not unkindly, causing Twilight to shake himself out of his thoughts.
“Sorry, Time. I was just distracted. What’s up?” Time gave him an incredulous look, and Twilight noticed all of the other Links were looking at him as well. It was then Twilight saw a dark swirling mass ahead. Oh, a portal. When did that get there?
“Seriously Goat Boy? You missed an entire portal? You really must be out of it.” Warriors teased, but Twilight could see a hint of concern in his eyes.
“Yeah.” Twilight scratched the back of his head. “I don’t know what’s going on. I’m just having trouble focusing today.”
“We’ll go through the portal and see what’s what.” Time thankfully changed the subject, though Twilight knew they were going to talk about this later.
The group gave affirmative nods and began cautiously wandering into the portal two at a time. Six weeks together had given them plenty of time to practice ehat worked best when facing a new world. Going two people at a time allowed them to better defend against immediate threats if they were right past the portal.
Twilight held his breath as he and Time went through the portal first, he always did. The portals all reeked of strange magic Twilight couldn’t place, yet still somehow reminded him of Midna. A lot of magic did...
What greeted him on the other side of the portal was slightly surprising. When he emerged, Twilight was immediately met with trees full of beautiful leaves, each a different shade of red, orange and yellow. Looking up, he saw they were directly under a natural arch beginning a canyon behind them. Looking behind them, he could see a brightly glowing blue structure on top of a tall rock formation that seemed to be a tower. What in Hylia’s name was that?
As the others emerged behind them, they were also slightly taken aback by the colors of this world, especially Hyrule. Twilight didn’t know much about his Hyrule, but he knew since he first visited that something bad had happened. Each of their Hyrules were beautiful in different ways, and this one was certainly no exception.
“Is this anyone’s Hyrule? Or are we in another strange one?” Time questioned, only receiving negative responses. “Guess we’ll have to find the threat in this one too.” Time ordered, but his voice was slightly wary. None of them had seen their Hyrules in awhile, and it was starting to wear on them a little. Twilight knew why it did with Time, he had a wife waiting for him. Wind had his family. And some of the others just missed knowing where to go and places of comfort.
They were all interrupted from their thoughts with a massive roar that echoed through the small canyon. Snapping their heads in the direction of the sound, they were met with a terrifying beast in the distance. He heard Legend shout something about a ‘Lynel’. It had the body of the horse, a huge face with beady eyes and two horns, and a long, proud mane. Before any of them could react, or ask Legend for advice on how to handle the creature, they heard the sound of an arrow being nocked, and a beam of light being launched at them.
“Move!” Time shouted, causing the boys to roll to the side just as multiple flames burst up right where they were standing, the portal disappearing now that they were all out.
“Run! We don’t have the supplies to take it on!” Legend yelled. The rest of the boys listened instantly, since Legend seemed experienced on the matter.
“They stop chasing eventually!” Hyrule yelled. Ah, seems he had them too.
They ran in the direction of the glowing blue structure, feet beating on the ground and hearts thumping with adrenaline. They heard the Lynel scream again, but this time it seemed out of pain. Looking back slightly, Twilight could barely see a yellow field around the Lynel that was… shocking it? Twilight stopped and turned around, the Lynel wasn’t focused on them anymore, it was looking around trying to find something, probably whatever had hurt it.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Legend yelled as he stopped too, about to drag Twilight away. Twilight simply pointed at the Lynel. Right as the others looked at the beast, an arrow pierced its eye from the trees. Whoever was helping them was apparently a skilled archer.
“Do we help? What if they get hurt?” Sky asked, looking on with worry. Before anyone could answer, a lean figure launched out of the trees with a gust of wind out of nowhere, using an odd cloth to glide down. In a blink of an eye, the figure shot one arrow, then two, then three into the Lynel’s shoulders and legs. The Lynel roared in pain and shot a flaming arrow right at the figure.
“Look out!” Cried Wind. The stranger simply dissipated the cloth in a ripple of blue before landing directly onto the Lynels back.
The group looked on in awe and horror as their savior summoned a weapon twice the size of him from the odd slate on his hip, and began cutting into the back of Lynel, avoiding being bucked off. The Lynel charged forward and the stranger gracefully flipped off its back and summoned a small colorful shield encrusted with bright jewels. The group could now see him a little more clearly. He was relatively small and covered in a large cloak, hood drawn. His tunic was sky blue, a bit lighter than Wind’s shirt, and he wore simple brown pants and boots. His posture was powerful and elegant. None of them knew this man, but they could see he was in his element. This was a battle fought many times. At the moment he was just standing in a loose defensive stance.
“What is he doing?” Sky whispered fearfully. He wanted to thank the man properly, but he didn’t want to jump in the fight and get in his way when he had no knowledge of the creature's weak spots. The rest of the heroes all looked on nervously as the Lynel raised slightly on its hind legs… a threw a ball of fire from its mouth?
“Holy shit!” Twilight yelled as he ran forward trying to get there in time. There was no way he would make it in time, but the stranger was just standing there! Did he give into fear and freeze? Before Twilight could make it even 10 steps, he froze in astonishment as the man parried the fireball at the exact moment of impact, launching it back into the face of Lynel, who screeched in rage and anguish. Whoever this man was, was absolutely terrifying. Wreaking elegant havoc on the battlefield without batting an eye.
“Twilight!” Sky whisper-shouted, gesturing madly to the now unwrapped sword on his back. Twilight recognized the faint glow and looked on in shock.
“He could just be vital to our quest. We haven't met another Link for six weeks, I doubt we’ll meet one now. Wrap the sword back up though. We don’t want him freaking out if he has a connection to it and he sees you holding it.” Warriors told Sky, who nodded and wrapped the sword back in its cloth. They had found it was better to explain first, then show the sword.
The stranger ran forward again, sending arrows forward ahead of him that exploded on impact, fire rushing all around him and the beast. The beast charged forward and swung its massive sword, which the man dodged at the last moment, sending an impossibly swift attack to the Lynel’s legs. The Lynel was only just beginning to weaken, and Twilight can’t help but imagine how it would have gone if this stranger hadn’t shown up. Once again the Lynel spit fire from its mouth. The man’s stance grew sturdier and he readied himself for another parry. Only this time, the shield shattered on impact, still launching back the blast to the Lynel, but burning the strangers arm in the process, pieces of metal sticking in his lower arm. The group shouted in worry, but the man didn’t even hesitate, pulling another shield from his odd device, and launching himself at the Lynel again. He shot a final arrow into the Lynel’s other eye, and swept himself onto it’s back to deliver the final blow. The Lynel disappeared with a final roar, and the stranger began casually collecting parts left behind. It took the group a couple of moments to process what in Hylia just happened.
An insane hooded stranger just rushed into danger, jumped on a Lynel, rode it while hitting it, burned all the area around them, and defeated the beast single handed. And destroyed his arm! Oh wait. He destroyed his arm!
“That was amazing but are you okay!” Sky yelled rushing forward. The stranger whipped around as Sky ran towards him, the rest of the group following him. The man whipped out a sword, and pointed it in front of him, causing Sky to skid to a halt a couple of feet in front of him.
“Put the sword down. We’re just trying to see if you’re okay.” Legend huffed only to receive a slap upside the head from Hyrule.
“I’m sorry, sir. We didn’t mean to scare you. We are very thankful for you saving us, we just want to make sure your arm is okay.” Four placated. The stranger had a white knuckled grip on his sword. While he seemed confident in taking the Lynel down, this was a different stance. This was a stance that showed he was more scared of people than he was of a terrifying fire breathing monster ten times his size. The man simply gave a thumbs up and stepped back slightly.
“Wait.” Time stepped forward from the huddled Links, but not close enough to cause any more aggression with the stranger. “We apologize for running to you so suddenly. Thank you for saving us. We grew up sheltered and are very new to this part of Hyrule.” The lie they used to not alert anyone of their unnatural presence in new worlds slipped off Time’s tongue easily now. “I’m sorry to ask this of you after you saved us, but is there a place to rest around here? Perhaps we could buy you a warm meal as payment, and help you with your arm if you would allow us.” Time had a talent of calming a tense environment, like a true leader, Twilight mused. To their shock, the man didn’t speak, only lifting the hand not holding the sword, now bloodied and burned from the fight.
‘I can take you to the nearest stable. I don’t need payment.’ The stranger signed simply, trying desperately to keep the shakiness of his hand at bay.
“Thank you!” Wind called out, a beaming smile on his face at the idea of a place with a roof. Wind certainly didn’t mind being out in nature, but it had been awhile since they got to stay in a building. Maybe this stable had a place to stay along the road next to it! Maybe it was in a large town he could explore!
The stranger simply nodded and walked ahead. The Links sent questioning looks to each other and followed behind. Wind ran ahead to be next to the stranger to see his hands, but kept a respectful distance. “What’s your name?” Wind asked enthusiastically. Warriors smirked. That little shit was gathering intel.
‘Link.’ The stranger fingerspelled shortly. Wind glanced back at Time to confirm he saw correctly. They all could understand some sign, but some were far more rusty than others, and only Time and Sky to an extent could physically do sign.
“Hi Link! My name is Wind!” If the stranger saw the name as odd, he didn’t show it. Only nodding politely. He kept a brisk pace, still having a tense hold on his sword in his non-injured hand.
“Um. Maybe we should stop and take care of your hand? If you leave those shards in, it could get infected.” Four reasoned. Link simply kept walking forward.
“Just because you saved us doesn’t mean you can be rude.” Legend snapped. Twilight attempted to put a calming hand on his shoulder, only to have it brushed off. “Why don’t you talk to us? We’re not going to hurt you.” Legend knew it wasn’t that simple. To just reassure the stranger they wouldn’t hurt him wasn't exactly an airtight plan. But past experience made being ignored absolutely infuriating. The stranger’s grip on his sword only grew tighter as he continued to move forward. No matter how much the group tried to talk to him, the stranger wouldn’t respond unless absolutely necessary, and never verbally.
After about two hours of walking at a brisk pace, they had emerged from the small cliffs surrounding them and were approaching an oddly shaped building. Along the way, Link collected any mushroom or plant that crossed his path. He was certainly an odd man. He seemed constantly on edge with the eight of them there, but had no qualms about gathering strange and brightly colored mushrooms and shoving them into his odd looking slate.
The building they were approaching had a large head that looked to be a horse, and had the structure of a large tent. It looked strange, but also very homey. As they grew closer, they saw some Hylians for the first time in this gigantic world. There was what looked to be a guard of some sort pacing in front of a man at a counter. He must have been the owner. Some other men and women were heading inside. Along with the Hylians was a soft brown dog trotting around some goats and horses. With the small gasp Twilight gave, the group of heroes knew they would have a hell of a time getting Twilight away from this place. Sky’s eyes lit up as he spotted two cuccos among the goats, dashing off to hold them as Legend retched in disgust. The rest of the group laughed at his excitement, but Time could see twilight barely restraining himself from rushing off to pet the horses and goats and hold the dog in his lap.
The new Link pointed at the man at the counter, most likely gesturing to speak to him as he made his way to the fire with a pot placed above it. Time nodded and went to discuss sleeping arrangements with the excitable owner. Having no other job to do, Twilight calmly made his way to the small corral of animals, before losing all composure and sitting amongst the odd-looking goats and cooing at how soft they were. Looking back at the new Link, he was throwing something in the cooking pot, before making his way over to Twilight. Twilight felt excitement grow in his chest. Now that they were in a safe place, would this new Link finally talk?
But Link simply sat down in the animal pen a good six feet from Twilight, placing his sword on the ground next to him, and reached out to pet the excited dog who had all but tackled him as soon as he sat down. Once the dog calmed down slightly, Link began to remove shield shards from his arm, not even flinching at the pain of removing metal from his skin. Twilight was surprised, but figured he should be the one to start the conversion.
“We have goats like this in my H- where I come from.” Hopefully Link wouldn’t pick up on Twilight’s mistake. “I helped raise and herd them.” Twilight finished, looking up at the new Link. Link shook his head, then signed something Twilight didn’t understand. “I’m sorry, I know sign but I don’t know what you just said.” Twilight apologized. Link froze in surprise for a second, perhaps not expecting Twilight to know any sign at all. Then pointed to the sheep Twilight was petting and fingerspelling what he wanted to say.
‘Sheep.’ The word spelled out. Twilight’s eyes widened in realization.
“Oh! Are these sheep?” Twilight asked, continuing to pet the creature beside him. Link nodded. Twilight wished he could see Links face, the hood did a great job of obscuring it completely. He didn’t think asking Link to take the hood off would go very well, so he just paid close attention to the little head movements he could see. Link abruptly stood, seemingly finished with taking the shield shards out of his arm, and summoned a pink liquid from his slate thing, and drank barely enough to heal his arm. Twilight was surprised and slightly worried with how little he seemed to care about his own injuries, musing on this as Link made his way back to the cooking pot to stir whatever he was cooking for himself, perhaps a meal to further help his arm?
The group could finally relax slightly. Sky loving on the cuccos, Time and Twilight paying attention to the horses and sheep, Legend and Warriors quietly chatting and bickering under a tree, Hyrule and Wind off running around and exploring, and Four reading one of his books, evening descended upon them peacefully. Twilight noticed a movement in the corner of his eye, Link seemed to be waving slightly to gain his attention. Twilight nudged Time and began walking over there.
“You okay, Link?” Twilight asked once he was next to the man. The man scooted away from Twilight, apparently deeming him too close, before signing a short ‘dinner’. That one took Twilight by surprise.
“For us?” Time asked gently. Link nodded his head. ‘Rice.’ He finger spelled. “That’s very kind, thank you Link.” Time said with a smile. “Boys!” Time called, causing all of the Links to look up and Hyrule and Wind to come running back from the treeline. “Link was kind enough to make us rice for dinner.” Causing Link to sink deeper into his hood at the attention and thanks he received from the group.
“Wait.” Legend said, stepping forward.
“Legend.” Hyrule warned, but Legend ignored him.
“No, Hyrule. We don’t know who he is. We haven’t seen his face. He could be a sorcerer trying to trick us.” Although it seemed ridiculous for some of them, they could see where Legend was worried. Link’s hands twitched. He didn’t know why he wanted these men to trust him, but he did. So without letting himself think about it too much, he yanked his hood down and glared at Legend with as much force as he could muster.
The first thing they saw were the scars. Twisting and webbing from his ear to across some of the right side of his face, before disappearing under his tunic, where the group could only imagine how horrible it was under there. The second thing they noticed was how young he was. Only a year or two older than Wind, far too young to have those scars. They had been calling him a man, but he was only a boy. Something seemed to click for them. This only confirmed it, this was another hero. Another hero they had not known existed. Why had Hylia waited so long? The sword singing in his head only grew louder, and without thinking, Sky unwrapped the sword from its cloth, and Link freaked out. Picking up his sword and backing away slightly, a hard look in his eyes.
“Wait! Don’t panic I can explain!” Sky rushed. Wild froze, but still kept his defensive stance.
“We are Heroes of Courage, just like you. We come from different worlds and different timelines. Hylia has sent us here to ask for your help. There is an unknown threat, strong enough to require multiple heroes. It’s an infection, spreading across timelines and Hyrules. I’m sure it will infect yours too. Please, join us.” Time figured that with this hero, short and to the point would be the best way of going about this, just like Legend. The boy looked skeptical, and didn’t put down the sword.
“I know you know this is the truth.” Sky said gently. “The Master Sword tells you it is.” Link froze. This man could hear the Master Sword? He had to be a hero of courage, no one else could feel it. Link lowered his sword, but kept his guard up.
‘Can I touch it?’ Link signed. Sky nodded and reached the sword out, not letting go, but allowing Link to touch a hand to its blade. Instantly Link knew it was true. The sword spoke no words to him, but he could feel with all of his being that this was a part of his destiny.
‘Okay.’ Link signed simply.
“Okay you’ll join us?” Wind asked carefully, cheering loudly when Link nodded his head. The others smiled at him, although Legend looked slightly guilty. He could see the scars on the kid’s neck. Maybe that’s why he didn’t talk…
Time tried to put a gentle hand on the boy's shoulder, only to have him jump back as if he had been burned, and pull his hood up once again. Time looked upon the boy with sad eyes. This confirmed Link didn’t just not trust strangers. He didn’t trust anyone. After Link handed out the food, the group sat around the fire, Link staying far away.
“Holy shit! He can cook!” Warriors cheered.
“Tbish ish amashbing!” Wild yelled with his mouth full, getting a smack on the head from Legend.
“We’re keeping him.” Four stated simply.
“Four, you can’t just claim someone.” Hyrule stated.
“I just did.”
“Guys. He’s trying to ask a question.” Twilight chided. Immediately the group swerved around to see Link with his hands up.
‘Are you all named Link?’ He asked.
“Yes. We all have nicknames based on our hero titles. The sword gives them to us.” Time answered.
“Speaking of.” Sky held up the Master Sword as if preparing for a ceremony. The group of Links all leaned forward eagerly awaiting their new friend’s name. Even Legend perked up.
“Welcome, Hero of Wild.”

The sun beat down relentlessly on Zelda and Link as they rode down the dusty path. They had been traveling non-stop for weeks, checking on the Divine Beasts and working to rebuild the once robust kingdom. As it turned out, defeating the Calamity was only the beginning of this long and difficult journey.
“If we continue at our current pace, we can make it Gerudo Town right before sunset,” Zelda declared excitedly, all her attention on the Sheikah Slate in her hands.
Link smiled at her, her excitement infectious. She was truly her authentic self lately, no sense of royal propriety restricting her enthusiasm anymore. While the Calamity was definitely a massive tragedy that ransacked Hyrule, he couldn’t help but feel that it was an opportunity to make some much-needed changes to the outdated social norms of this country.
His reflection was interrupted by a big drop of sweat plopping on his nose from his soaked bangs. He recoiled in disgust, and out of the corner of his eye he caught a familiar glimmer. There was a river not too far from the path, and he figured a short break wouldn’t hurt anybody.
“Where are you going?” Zelda asked, finally looking up from her Shiekah Slate as Link turned his horse in the direction of the river.
He didn’t respond, just taking off his boots as soon as he dismounted. He grasped the hem of his tunic and started to pull up, eliciting a panicked shout from Zelda.
“What in the world are you doing?!? We still have a lot of ground to cover today, and you’re here stripping???” A faint blush creeped up her face as she said that.
“Relax Princess, this won’t take long,” he said, tossing his tunic to the side and shaking out his bedraggled hair from its tie.
Needless to say, the princess did not relax as he swan dived into the river, making a resounding splash. He didn’t heed her protests though, as the water made him feel more refreshed than he had ever felt before. He gently laid back and let the soft current wash cooly over his sun baked skin.
Zelda had managed to make it to the river bank, nervously pacing up down as Link enjoyed himself in the water.
“Please be careful Link, the current here can be treacherous. I don’t want you to drown out there!”
“I’m fine Princess, if Ganon couldn’t kill me I doubt a little water will do anything.”
Suddenly, without warning, he was pulled underneath the surface.
“LINK!!” she screamed, running to the edge of the river, eyes scanning for any sign of the knight.
Then, a pair of hands reached up and grabbed her collar, pulling her into the water with them. Spitting out water and gasping for air, she heard a devilish laugh next to her.
“By Hylia Link, why in the world would you do that??”
“I don’t know, it seemed like fun,” he grinned wickedly. She glared at him, but couldn’t stay mad at him for long. She had to admit, the water felt amazing.
They spent the next half hour or so relaxing and playfully splashing water at each other. When they had their fill they clambered up the embankment and plopped down on the warm grass. Zelda wrung out her soaking hair while Link laid down, stretching out his sore limbs. She happened to notice the numerous scars all over his torso, varying in size and shade, some white and almost faded, others red and glaring. A wave of guilt washed over her. As a knight, scars are to be expected, but she couldn’t help but feel partially responsible for how extensive his were. Maybe if she had done her job better and sealed Ganon away sooner, maybe if she had worked harder to protect him —
She noticed Link staring worriedly at her, and she wondered if he could hear her thoughts. Who knows, considering how quiet he always was perhaps he was telepathic. She shook her head to rid herself of her guilty thoughts, and instead reached out to touch a long red scar on the left side of his stomach.
“How did you get this one?”
He looked down to see which one she was referring to.
“Uhhhh moblin attack. It had a spear and I only had a boomerang at that moment.”
“Ouch. What about this one?” She pointed to a smaller one on his right bicep.
“Arrow from a Yiga scout.”
“And this one?” A pale blotchy one on the palm of his hand.
He grinned sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head with his other hand.
“Uhhhhh that one was from uhhh...reaching into a cooking pot for a baked apple too soon.”
“Link!”
“What? I was hungry!”
Before she could admonish him more for his carelessness, she happened to notice a strange looking scar near where his hand was on his head. It looked like branches of a tree, thin pink tendrils reaching from his shoulder up his neck, ending right at the base of his jaw. He shifted to his elbow, and she could see that the scar reached down his entire back as well. She had never seen anything like it before.
“What caused this one?” she asked softly, as she gently brushed her fingertips across the raised skin. He paused for a moment before telling her.
“Lightning.”
Zelda had heard of unfortunate citizens who had been struck by lightning, but she had never heard of any of them surviving. Any guilt she had was quickly washed over with intense curiosity. Link saw her eyes light up as a thousand questions bubbled over.
“Where did you get struck by lightning? How did you survive? What did it feel like???”
He chuckled. A lot had changed over the past one hundred years, but Zelda’s scientific curiosity had never gone away.
Then, an evil smirk spread across his face. “I’m not telling you.”
“W-WHAT?!” she sputtered. “You get struck by lightning, and somehow survive, and you won’t even tell me what it felt like???”
“Yep.”
“Goddesses you know this is the meanest thing you’ve ever done to me right? How will you sleep at night knowing that you’ve deprived me of this knowledge?”
“Like a baby.”
“Liiiiiiink,” she whined.
He laughed. She was so cute with her nose all scrunched up as she tried relentlessly to get him to surrender his lightning knowledge. He couldn’t help but lean over and kiss the tip of her little nose.
She froze. He too late realized this might have been a breach of her personal boundaries. They had grown to be very close but he wasn’t sure exactly what level of intimacy she was fine with, or exactly how she felt about him, and —oh goddesses he hoped he hadn’t ruined everything over a little impulse and why hadn’t he moved yet he’s still way too close to the princess oh no what should he do —
He felt her hands cup his face and suddenly his racing thoughts stopped. He looked into her dark green eyes and saw a gentle expression that both reassured him and made his heart flip. Before he could say anything she closed the distance and pressed her lips to his.
He felt a jolt of electricity course through him, numbing him. An intense heat seared his body. His thoughts swirled dizzyingly around in his head, unable to grasp ahold of any of them. He still hadn’t quite processed what was going on, but he was too drunk on this feeling to care.
As she pulled away, all he could feel was a sense of exhilaration, and he didn’t want it to stop. He breathed heavily as he slowly opened his eyes. She still had her hands cupped on his face, and he reached up to clasp one so that she could feel his burning skin. If she felt the same electric love he felt at that moment, she would understand what it felt like to be struck by lightning.
“I don’t think we’ll make it to Gerudo Town in time today.”
“Eh, it’s been a hundred years, one more day won’t hurt.”

I’m gonna have to respectfully disagree with you there.
*ahem* In this essay I will prove why your opinion is wrong (jk you’re valid to that but you have given me a good excuse to rant about the soundtrack which is AMAZING)
So, open this cut to here me rant about music :P
I was once like you, someone who listened the the three piano chords that played while I was running out in the field, saying “huh, some soundtrack huh?” And yes, the Field Theme is probably the most dunked on song in Breath of the Wild, but it is actually probably one of the most intricately crafted.
Did you know there are over 35 different variations of the Field Theme? Each of the chords, reversed notes, off keys, and hums are all dependent on the players actions. Whether it be standing still, running across the grass, or climbing over a rock, the Field Theme is made to be a subtle background that changes based whatever you are doing. Often, song’s like the Field, Riding, or Ruins themes are made to the beat of your foot steps, or your horses trot, letting the ambient sounds of the world take the forefront. These song fulfill their purpose wonderfully of letting you focus on the serenity of nature, yet at the same time letting you take in the silence of a broken world.
Then again, I get it, the song isn’t that much of a bop, is it? Fairly certain “Field Theme” is no one’s favorite song. Yet, this reason is why the rest of the soundtrack is so so good.
See, the goal of the botw soundtrack for the most part was to allow the player to be immersed in a beautiful and ruinous world. Half of it’s over world theme centers around the feeling of melancholy. Link has lost his memory, all his old friends are dead, and the world is left at the mercy of Calamity Ganon.
And I say half, because the other half of Hyrule is filled with life, hope, and energy.
You cannot tell me, CANNOT tell me that the music for the town themes and battles are bad. Every song that is not centered around nature or exploration is great. Rito Village theme? Not only does it allude to Dragon Roost Island, but it expresses the comfort and warmth of a cozy town, like a mother bird with her chicks tuck away in the nest. Molduga Theme? An upbeat and CATCHY theme that actively changes during the tides of battle depending on what kind of attack you are doing. Ancient tech lab? Expresses character and contrast with a medieval kingdom. Same with the foreign nature (used with foreign/electronic instruments) of the Shrines and towers. The fun and bumpy nature of a Talus theme, which used real metal hammers for recording it’s intro. The way a Hinox stomps along with the xylophones and percussion of it’s jumpy and exotic music. The way the Champion’s themes are integrated into the Attacking Divine Beast themes. The way the music of a Diving Beast livens up as you slowly take control away from Ganon. Hyrule Castle, with the background marching of an army, and the blending of Ganon’s theme with the Hyrule Castle theme. The Calamity Ganon Fight with both Phase 1, 2 and 3 with Dark Beast Ganon, the way the music draws out as you let loose a light arrow, the epicness and energy!! *Chef’s kiss*
The music in this game is crafted so that while you go about the day with the soft ambient noises of nature, you are attracted to the important places as their more full music and melodies.
Hell, even the Stable Theme and Kass’ Theme are songs that can be heard from a distance, and actively lead you towards them. This game literally lures you to places with its familiar melodies. Thaaaaaat’s just well integrated game design.
It can convey safety, with the friendly nature of Hateno Village. Or instill fear, with the foreboding tone of the blood moon. Now would these fantastic themes and melodies have the same effect if they were played throughout the whole game? The answer is no. The silence and ambiance of Hyrule not only plays to its themes, but it helps to enunciate the more amazing pieces of the game. The silence enhances the effect of the songs. It shows off the quiet land of a ruined kingdom, to the energy of a bustling town getting through another day, to the mysterious nature of unexplored forests and ruins, to the tension and energy of striking the final blow that had been over 100 years in the making.
The best example of the music expressing these two halves of Hyrule is the Tarry Town Theme. Spoiler warning for one of the best side quests in the game, not even kidding.
When you meet Bolson in Akkala, he has started the construction of a small house and plans to start a town. The melody when you first arrive is cute, but small. It’s expressive and hopeful, but lacks the real life and tone of an actual populated village. This initial theme shows the half of Hyrule that is dead, left to their own devices with nature.
So, after blowing up trees and traveling across Hyrule, you go and find people who are looking for something more in life. You find people who have dreams and regrets, aspirations and longings, and point them towards Tarry Town. When they arrive at town and find happiness, that’s when the theme starts to change, and so too does the tone and dynamic of the town change.
The Goron, tired of mining away all day at his job, joins the town, and when he does, a new trombone accompaniment is added to the theme. A Gerudo with a passion for fashion, and will eventually form a cute relationship with Bolson, adds a sitar flourish to the piece. The Rito shopkeep, introduces wind instrument and the Zora priest gives a background marimba. And the Hylians even give extra piano and percussion. All of these people give their own music (which is derived of the town themes of their respective races) and actively liven the Tarry Town Theme with their presence. What was once a more quiet theme, now it full of life and hope and town grew to a new size full of cheerful. It brims with new energy as people bustle about, and the best of it is, the side quest ends with a wedding, a symbol for a new beginning.
I could go on and on, about the lite motifs for each race and enemy (which use specific instruments according to their race), the seamless night and day transitions with varied tempos and dynamics, the relationship between the old Champions and the new Champions themes, the juxtaposition of the energy of fighting a Diving beast with the occasional flourish of the corresponding Champion motif, the contrast with a character’s personality to their music to convey character (*cough cough* REVALI *cough cough*), how battle themes are synchronized to the way you swing your sword or when you land a hit, the way the three variations of the Guardian theme strike unexpectedly, immediately alerting you of danger and can fill you with fear, the subtle main Legend of Zelda melody and Zelda’s Lullaby that seems to watch over you as you traverse the land, Rito Village....just in general.
Compared to other games, the Breath of the Wild sound track is very...different. It doesn’t have the same heroines, or creepiness of other games, but that’s because the aim of it’s music and it’s themes are vastly unique.
Long story short, yes, the over world themes might not have much substance initially, but they fulfill their purpose of enhancing the world around you, and giving contrast with the more lively and active parts of the game. This soundtrack gives you both the feeling of soft melancholy of a meadow, the homeliness of a town, and the epic energy of a final battle, and focusing only on those three piano notes in one Field Theme doesn’t nearly do justice the work and care put into it’s music.
Got time? I also love these videos on sound design (gosh the best sound design is the stuff you never consciously notice), theme, atmosphere, and basically just people explaining what I said but a lot better
I love this game and it’s music and no one can take that away from me.

Hi guys!
(It has been a while since I last posted something)
Welp, today I kinda wanna just post here some ideas/prompts for fanfics (either one-shots or multi-chapter ones) and if anything catches your eye and you have the drive to write it then just go ahead and start writing (if you post it just tag me or sent me the link to your work cause I really wanna read it)
Welp, here it goes:
1. Prompt/Idea #1: Boku no Hero Academia and Pokemon (crossover)
Izuku begins his pokemon jurney in a world inhabited by both heroes and villains. Now he has to deal with: his very much aggressive starter Eevee, the angry and clearly "not dangerous" hero-wannabe Bakugou Katsuki (and his class of superpowered kids), villainous organizations that want to either get rid of him or take his pokemon away, his dead father who is not so dead anymore, Pokemon Hunter J who wants to ... er... adopt him? and many others. Well, at least he is closer to earning every badge and every ribbon from Kanto through Kalos...
Izuku: "This jurney won't be that hard, right?" Famous last words, Izuku.
2. Prompt/Idea #2: Miraculous Ladybug and Animal Crossing (crossover)
Marinette is still bullied by Lila and, just as the liar said, everyone turned their backs on her. Things take a turn for the worst when Lila decides to get rid of Marinette in a more ... permanent way. Now, in an induced coma, Marinette's consciousness travels to another dimension. This one may look peaceful but the inhabitants (why are they all humanoid-like animals that walk on two legs!?) have been dealing with huge and powerful Black Butterflies that have destroyed their homes time and time again. The villagers call this particular city Arcadia and apparently they have lost their mayor a few years prior to Marinette's arrival. To say she is surprised about all this is an understatement, but Marinette is Ladybug and Ladybug always helps getting rid of Butterflies - even if Tikki is no longer with her. Maybe - just maybe - she can start anew here. And who is this cat named Fèlix and why does he seem so... human comparative to the other villagers? Meanwhile, in the real world, with Marinette in a coma, a new Ladybug must show up and Kagami is up for the task. If it means beating some sense into Agreste's and his classmates' heads then all the better. Look out Lila, your days as the queen of the class are numbered.
3. Prompt/Idea #3: Boku no Hero Academia and Yo-kai Watch 1, 2 and 3 (crossover)
At the young age of 10, Izuku is mostly used to being treated like trash. When his childhood friend turned bully dared him to go in the heart of the woods and bring back a ball from the infamous "Cursed Gotcha Machine", well, he wasn't surprised. What surprised him was that he got a ghost butler? and a fancy watch out of this (Not that Kacchan will actually believe him) And now he is able to see what the butler - Whisper - said to be "Yokai". Izuku is making friends - albeit not all are human beings, so maybe he can also become a hero with this watch and with the help of his Yokai friends. (As long as he can keep them from murdering Kacchan..) Navigating new friendships, learning how to love himself and how to let go of friends from the past is already hard enough. If, along the way, he ends up falling for another tormented child who may or may not be able to see yokai as well and whose father is a literal walking flaming trash can, well he will deal with this too.
4. Prompt/Idea #4: Boku no Hero Academia - Otome Game AU
Akatani Mikumo is a 35-years-old office worker who leads a plain life devoid of any amusement. People find him boring or unpleasant so Mikumo always finds himself alone, the moment of his death is no exception. Alone in his appartment who went up in flames while he was sleeping, Akatani Mikumo died ... and in another universe, 6-years-old Midoriya Izuku woke up on a bed with people - his parents? servants of the house? - surrounding him and crying of happiness. Apparently, Izuku almost died from a deadly disease, but only he knows that it is not their Izuku that woke up on that day. Mikumo wants to fulfill the kid's last wish: to keep both his family and the people around him happy for as long as he can. A tall order for 35-turned-6-years-old Mikumo but he can try. Now if only he can remember where did he hear the names of these nobles and why does the word "Quirk" seem so... familiar? Watch as Mikumo navigates life, makes friends for the first time, bullies nobles and, unwittingly, makes everyone he meets fall in love with him.
5. Prompt/Idea #5: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Pre-Calamity setting AU (original take on Link's past)
Growing up, Galahad was best friends with Raphael. Their friendship survived until today and is still going strong, and with kids on the way the two decide to make sure their children will also become friends. Fast forward 10 years later, Link (Galahad's son) and Haruto (or you can put any name you like here) (Raphael's son) live up to their father's legacies - both in friendship and career. Both were blessed with above average skills in hand to hand combat and swordsmanship. However, they never fought in a real battle against the monsters inhabiting Hyrule yet. But, after a mission in which their fathers dissapear, a fairy by the name of Fi - self-proclaimed a messenger of the Goddess Hylia - tells them that they have 1 year to save them from the Yiga Clan's clutches. In exactly 1 year, the Yiga Clan leader will sacrifice Galahad and Raphael in a ritual to awaken Calamity Ganon, believing the two to be the Hero who wields the Sword that seals the Darkness and his Shadow's reincarnations. Now, Link and Haruto need to travel across Hyrule and get stronger in order to save their fathers. While they overcome the trials put on their path by the Goddess, the past unravels itself to them and they might just face a bigger foe than the Yiga Clan - their own self.
(Bonus points if the two meet the pilots of the Divine Beasts and befriend them - yes, even Rivali for all his pride shall fall into the clutches of friendship - before Link is announced as the Hero that wields the Master Sword)
Welp, here they are. These are just 5 of my ideas. Maybe this will become a thing that I will do monthly, who knows.
If you are interested in anything from here or you want more information on one of them, just send a message and I try to reply as fast as I can. If not, then happy writing.
Bye! 🤗🤗

Review- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
I’ll admit this here: I’ve never played a regular warriors game.
I played the previous Hyrule Warriors, but I’ve yet to beat it. I’ll get around to it...eventually.
I also played the CRAP out of Breath of the Wild. It’s now my favorite Zelda game, knocking poor Ocarina of Time of its pedestal.
Ok, they share it, to be perfectly honest.
Twilight Princess has sentimental position up with the others because it was the first Zelda game I ever beat.
The first one I played was A Link to the Past and I was far too little to understand it at the time.
I digress, I’m here to talk about Age of Calamity.
I’ll go through a non-spoilery section and then move on to the spoilers in the next bit.
The gameplay was actually pretty fun. Hyrule Warriors could get repetitive, something I’m given to understand is an issue of the main Warriors series.
Age of Calamity is actually more fun. Yeah, it’s still a similar game style but they implemented enough of Breath of the Wild and Zelda into it that it doesn’t feel anywhere near as same-y to play as Hyrule Warriors could be.
I’m not saying that Hyrule Warriors had too much in the way of same-y game play but it definitely felt way more repetitive to me.
Each character has their own way they play and if you don’t click with them, you’re not going to enjoy playing them but those you do click with can then be a lot of fun in Age of Calamity.
The Divine Beast sections were not a highlight for me. I just am not a fan of them. Three out of four felt epic. The fourth was not.
Yeah, I’m talking trash about Vah Rudania. Would not recommend that Divine Beast. Which is a shame because of the Champions, he is easily the one I handle the best in combat. Or he was untilI figured out how to play Mipha.
The story is much more a Zelda story this time. The other story just kinda felt....not.
Hyrule Warriors’s story just sort felt like a massive crossover fanfiction.
And, this won’t be the last time I reference fanfiction either but that’s for the spoiler section.
The game was pretty cohesive and the incentives for 100% the side quests (aside from leveling) are nice enough and easy enough to obtain that it’s not a total grind to do it.
Speaking of leveling, I did have a bit of an edge for that. You see, I got the demo and it transfers save data and I’d max-leveled Link for that demo (level 20 in case you were wondering) which meant if I found enough rupees, I could instantly get most of my crew up to that level. Zelda and Impa were mid to high teens whenever I was done with the demo btw.
In Hyrule Warriors, it did feel a bit grindy at times but I didn’t have that nice 20 levels from my demo advantage.
There are relatively few buggy moments in this game but once when I was playing as a character I can’t mention without spoilers, they got caught in a sort of loop where they’d do a move and I couldn’t get them to stop.
Sometimes the camera angles would fight me when I was up against bigger foes like the final boss or Hinoxes.
Beyond that, the game runs fine.
I enjoyed it but for those looking for a straight up prequel to Breath of the Wild, the only non-spoilery thing I can say is-it’s not this. It does touch on a few things and we do get to play the Champions but it’s not the game you think it is if you want to see what happened before Link ended up in the Shrine of Resurrection in the game this spun-off of.
Tl;Dr-I do recommend this game if you like Zelda and want a game where your weapons don’t break every five minutes and you like feeling like a BAMF as you mow down enemy after enemy.
If you don’t like Warriors games or wanted that dark prequel-you might want to pass on this.
Now leave if you want to avoid spoilers.
Ok everyone who wants to avoid spoilers is gone?
Good.
First, I’m just going to say it: This is a total Fix-It Fic of a game with its plot.
As Nine’s gif said, Everybody lives.
The Champions and the King and the soldiers (whose asses you’ve been saving this whole game so really no big deal), Hyrule in general.
Everyone lives.
This was already in AU territory with the little guardian-it’s name is Terrako- time traveling back to fulfill Zelda’s wish that she could have saved everyone. Parts of Calamity Ganon go with it and posses its past self.
That means this isn’t just a Fix-it Fic, this is a Time Travel Fix-it Fic.
That’s one of my favorite kinds of Fix-it Fics, so naturally, I was biased to like this plot.
It is a bit schmaltzy that everyone gets to live? A little but a Fix-it Fic tends to be more on the sweet and fluffy side of things.
I did not see the future champions coming. Yeah, I knew the little egg-guy was a time traveler but I thought Link and Zelda together were going to save each champion one by one. When out of left field, here comes the future Champions.
I was very happy to see Adult!Sidon appear.
I was just expecting this
and got this too
It does, however, confirm this is a total Alternate timeline.
Wouldn’t be the first time for the Zelda series.
The Four Future Champions were pulled from Canon Breath of the Wild, and likely Post-Canon or Near the End of Canon since they know Link.
I knew it was an AU from the fact Link didn’t have the Master Sword when he should have. I own the book Creating a Champion and it mentions that Link of Breath of the Wild found the sword at some ridiculously young age. I’d look but that book is in a pile of stuff and I don’t feel like digging it out.
Best I can figure is Zelda’s wish also affected the whole timeline beyond when Terrako arrived allowing for her and Link to form a bond without resentment on her end. Which, we actually don’t know when Terrako and the Pieces of Calamity Ganon arrived in the past. They could have showed up five years prior with Terrako inactive and Harbinger Ganon using his crazy proxy.
Would explain why Astor was so bat-shit insane at that point.
Since I’ve mentioned him, this would be a good time to talk about Astor, or Not-Vaati as I called him before I learned his name.
Astor is every evil cultist serving some destructive force that is shocked that betrayal comes.
Especially, after he backstabbed the Yiga Clan causing even their leader to switch sides after the Yiga clan served Ganon for 10,000 years.
Astor is boring. He’s just another purple wearing evil dude who is serving a dark master who doesn’t actually need him after a point and gets a sort of comeuppance.
In this case, it was possession/assimilation.
I just beat Monster Boy and the cursed Kingdom and -spoilers-, in it there is a purple wearing evil guy who backstabbed others and was then backstabbed by the evil entity he served. He was just cursed into a ridiculous form instead of assimilation, though.
So, yeah. Astor was boring. The VA did what he could but Astor was just not compelling to me.
I did like the form that resulted of Harbinger Ganon absorbing him, though.
It was a very nice change of pace from the Blight-like form Calamity Ganon had in Breath of the Wild. I actually almost wish this was his form instead-though with the stringy hair all the Blights and Calamity Ganon had. Maybe as a between form? Either way, I liked it.
And that’s my opinion of the whole game; I liked it.
There were times I’d get frustrated (mostly having to do with time limits and characters I don’t enjoy controlling). I may not have liked the Divine Beast Sections but they weren’t enough to ruin the game nor was their inclusion to the point that it could ruin it for me.
The story, while a bit over-the-top with the wish fulfillment of everyone living, was still enjoyable for me and had its poignant moments. Especially with the Future Champions going back to their own(likely the canon) timeline where the Calamity wasn’t averted. Getting this glimpse of what could have been but isn’t for them.
All the younger Zelda flashbacks were bittersweet since we sort of saw how happy she was before her mother died and saw her father start his terrible parenting routine.
I don’t care that it was for her that he did it, it was still bad parenting. I sympathize with Rhoam, but that won’t excuse that he wasn’t a good father.
He loved his daughter and was trying his best but he still did damage in his attempts to defy destiny.
I just have a lot of feelings about this game.
I’ll just end this post here.
Age of Calamity was worth it, in my opinion.

The origin of the Master sword
So I’m playing through Breath of The Wild again and Something Impa said that made me really think about the origin of the Master Sword and Beginning of the Legend of Zelda.
She said “The warrior with the sword that possessed the soul of a hero and the princess with the blood of the goddess”
so with that In mind, I posit a theory, some of which is based on information from the games and other part of which i am taking creative liberty.
~~
Long ago, before any mortal being existed, there was the Goddess Hylia. Hylia created the world, and in a lnd that was infused with magic. It was a peaceful land and as time passed and many mortal races began to Journey to this Land for its magic as well as it bountiful lands.
Among these races were the Hylians, name so for their likeness in appearance to Hylia as well as their dedication to the goddess. they named the Land Hyrule to honor the goddess and her gifts to the land.
Their worship flattered the goddess and she often found herself watching them as they progressed over the decades.
Also among these races were a magical race born of the pure magic of the land called the Korok. These magical creatures were able to use and harness the magic of the land.
As the years passed, Hylia found herself often watching the land of Hyrule and Hylians as then went about their lives. she watch them grow from a small group, to a tribe, to many villages that spread across the plains, until a time came where they had grown into a sizable kingdom. The kingdom was beginning to have diplomatic dealings with the parts of Hyrule that belonged to the other races that had also settled there. The King, a wise and kind leader who sought peace was looking for a few knights to be his guardsmen. He made an announcement for all able bodied and capable youngings to train and try out for the royal guard, which he had decided would be a a small group of six. big enough to discourage neredowells but not large enough to make the neighboring people nervous.
Hylia watched as the king began the task of searching for the knights that would become his royal guard. Young boys and girls and fighters of all races came to train for the chance to protect the king.
As Hylia watched the candidates train for weeks and weeks, a single warrior caught her eye. He was not particularly strong or large, and not once during his weeks of training had he spoken a word, but despite his silence, Hylia could hear louder than any words, the courage in his heart.
The goddess soon found her days consumed with watching the small warrior train and silently routing him on in his endeavors. The small warrior, knowing his size and strength were lacking spent hours outside of training honing his skills. In the woods by where he lived he would practice nonstop until dawn. these actions tugged heavily at the Goddess’ heart and soon she found herself infatuated with the young warrior. She would regularly watch him practice from a distance, hidden by trees and magic.
But one evening, As the goddess watch the small warrior train, he vanished from her sight, as she turned to leave she found that it was she who was now being watched. But how? There was no way that the people on the land should be able to see her outside of the Koroks.
The goddess knew she should run, it wasn’t good for mortals to see her, but she had been watching the small warrior for weeks. She had thought of talking to him, knowing more about his life. Would he be angry that she had watched him?
But no, the small Warrior was not angry. He instead, put forth his hand to hear, as if they were equals. Did He not know she was?
She reached out and took his hand. he shook it as if to introduce himself. what he did next took her by surprise. He placed a spare sword in her hand and then backed up into a defensive position. And while he never Spoke, The goddess heard clearly, “If you're here, then youre gonna spar with me”.
The goddess stood dumbfounded for a moment but he tapped his sword against the one in her hands and she felt something inside her rise up. She gripped the sword and soon she and the Small Warrior were sparring.
They continued this routine, She would meet him in the woods at sundown and spar with him. through this practice the warrior and the Goddess began to grow close and soon fell in love with each, but neither spoke of it, for they felt it improper for a Goddess to love a mortal.
Soon, the time came for The King to choose his royal guard and the same courage that had drawn the attention of the Goddess to the small warrior and drawn the eye of the king. the Small warrior was chosen, along with a handful of others, to be a knight in the kings royal guard.
however many candidates were turned away, among them was the kings son, The Prince Ganon. embarassed the prince soon began to resent the king. His heart craved power and strength and his father had seen that and wanted to humble him. But the prince only grew more bitter.
The Small warrior in excitement ran to meet the Goddess at their spot. She was waiting there for him with a girt. A special sword, blessed by her magic to never break or lose its shine. A gift to celebrate his success. In their excitement they embraced, and from there, there was no denying the love they had for each other.
Months passed and the couple met regularly while the small warrior’s courage made him stand out and the king soon took a liking to him, requesting him as a personal body guard and this infuriated the prince. Ganon was filled with thoughts of jealousy and greed. How could his father prefer this small silent nobody to him. what did this small warrior have that he, a prince, didn't.
So Ganon, secretly followed the the small Warrior home and saw that he was meeting with the Goddess.
That how he had beaten Ganon, he had cheated, the goddess had given him power. That is what Ganon thought. So he returned to the castle and began to research the magic of the land. he was going to take the power he deserved and if the goddess wasn’t going to give it to him, he would take him himself. Ganon found a passage about the korok and their natural connection to the magic of the land.
So Ganon gather a few of the strongest of those rejected by the king and fed their bitter hearts with lies of betrayal and cheating. He then led them into the domain of the koroks and laid seige against them, he demanded of them a secret to gain power. They knew of a way, that could make him and his followers more powerful and immortal, but it at the cost of part of their souls.
Blinded by rage and hatred, Ganon and his men did not care. they took the power and slaughter many korok stealing their magic. The more magic they consumed the less human they became. Ganon became a horrific beast and the men who he had brought with him became wicked goblin like creatures.
They left the korok domain in ruins and headed back to the kingdom to seek out their revenge.
They devastated the Land and attacked people indiscriminately, their senses of right and wrong completely gone.
Ganons beastly figure loomed over the castle as he demanded to see his father. He demanded that the king give up the small warrior and he give up his thrown. the king refused. this angered Ganon. Even now, with all his power, his father would still choose the little warrior. How could he not see his strength? It was that dam goddess blessing. that must be it. He told the king this much, said the warrior was a fraud. his power wasn't his, it came from the goddess. Ganon turned and saw the sun beginning to set and decreed to destroy the goddess, that then they would all see the warriors true weakness.
The warrior, who had been standing by the king, felt fear grip his heart as Ganon’s beastly form turned with a wicked grin towards his home and woods where he met the Goddess.
The warrior began to run when the king stopped him. the king gave the warrior his fastest horse. The king and the kings guard all vowed to stall Ganon as long as they could. the warrior nodded gratefully and took off to save his love.
he urged the horse forward with all his heart, hoping that his love for the goddess would move him magically forward.
Thanks to the aid of the king and his Guard, The Small warrior barely made it before ganon. he faced the Goddess and the joy on her face from seeing soon vanished as she saw the fear on his. he ran to her and held for just a moment before ganon appeared. The warrior turned to face the beast.
And the warrior, as he yelled at the goddess to run, tightly gripped the sword she had made him and charged at ganon.
he fought courageously but ganon’s power was too much, and as the warrior tired, ganon struck a fatal blow. ganon laughed as the life drained from the warrior, boasting of his own immortality as another sign of how his power was greater.
the goddess, who could not run and leave her love to die, ran to the dying warrior. She gripped his hand and cried.he smiles at her, whispering three words before passing away. But in her grief and anger, the goddess’ power began to swell. hylia took the sword she had made for her love and with her power, she infused the last remnant of his soul within the sword. The soul, created by the goddess and powered by warriors courageous soul, began to glow and as it glowed, it’s light began to reach out and touch ganons dark and beastly form in the night. Ganon felt his power stagger in the light of it’s blade.
The goddess hylia knew you couldn’t kill and imortal, but she also know that you could weaken them enough that they would no longer be able to manifest a physical form.
So with sword in hand, the goddess remember all of the sparring her and the warrior had done together, the joy those moments had brought her, and with her love and pain guiding her, she swung hard and fast at the beast Ganon. With ever strike, she beat him back and she be him down. Her power, having grown so strong, she had grown to the same massive size the beast, and all other mortals could see her. the king and his guard, empowered by the light of the Goddess and her sword, began to push back ganons monstrous men.
With a final swipe, the goddess struck ganon down and with no soul to hold his physical form together he evaporated into dark dust. as he vanished, his monsters began to fall one by one and vanish as well.
Exhausted from the fight, the goddess began to shrink back down and collapsed.
The and his men,now permantly able to see the goddess, took her to the castle and waited to for to awake.
When she awoke she assured them that ganon was not dead, he had just been sealed away by the power of the sword and the goddess. He would rise again once he had regained his strength. but not in their life times.
The Goddess then confides in the king that she is with Child, but that the child will take enough of her power, that she too will no longer be able to take a physical form. The king assured her, he would raise the child as if they were his own. She assured him that the power would stay dormant and be passed down from mother to daughter, so that when Ganon did return, the child could help seal him away again. and while she wouldnt be able to have a physical form, she would dtill have enough power to influence and guide the ancestor tasked with sealing ganon away again.
The korok decided that their knowledge of the land’s magic was too powerful for any mortal to have so they created a magical labyrinth that would cause any who enter it would immediately walk back out or get lost. They also agreed to keep the sword infused with the warriors soul there, where only one who was chosen by the sword could retrieve it. they assured the Goddess that when the time came, the sword would choose a hero to wield it and to stand by the side of her ancestor in order to seal away ganon. with this knowledge, the goddess gladly gave her power up to protect the land the land she had made.
A baby girl was born with golden blonde hair and sea blue eyes. the king honored his promise to Goddess, never telling the princess of her origin, and he passed, the princess inherited the kingdom. Beginning a long line of royalty blessed by the goddesss. In their rule, the kingdom grew and flourished. So large and prosperous that all but a chosen few forgot the truth of what happen. these chosen people named themselves the sheikah and hold it their duty to pass down the essential knowledge needed to defeat ganon.

Mutual Feelings Pt. 14, [Revali x Reader]
Summary: No.
Despite Revali’s best efforts, your catatonic state of late nights and spending every waking moment in your room doing research persisted. You continually worked into the early hours of the morning until exhaustion hit and the world spiraled into a fit of eerily calm darkness. Sometimes you’d wake on your bed, tucked beneath the many blankets Revali had sourced from the village, but most of the time you were left to wake with flushed skin against your hard-wooden desk. The bags below your eyes snuck back into your life and your skin grew duller and duller as the days passed.
Visiting the Champions was your getaway. Gerudo was quite beautiful and one of the more peaceful places lately, despite the Yiga Clan who always greeted you between the Bazaar and the City. At night, the sounds of a bustling city grew quiet, only leaving behind the graceful wind as it moved and shaped the vast desert. Urbosa was pleased to see you, gladly leading you to the Divine Beast where you installed what you believed to be your final updates. The Calamity was growing close and a final battle was soon to happen whether you wanted it to or not.
“What will this thing do?” Urbosa brushed her hand on the top of your new installation, her fingers delicately scraped against the metal. “I was surprised when this arrived at my doorstep.” She laughed. “I knew it had to be another one of your plans when I saw how detailed the instructions were.” A piece of paper slipped from her hand as she held it up to catch the light. You had sent out your plans to the Champions but hadn’t exactly told them what your plans were supposed to do.
“It’s going to make sure you stay safe…” your breath hitched in your throat, “when the battle happens.”
“Do you plan on moving to the Lab? Your safety is just as important as ours. The castle will surely be Calamity Ganon’s first target.” She moved around the module; her attention drawn away from the blueprints.
“There’s no room for me there, Urbosa.”
“Well, you can always stay here in the City… but I do suppose that would ruffle Revali’s feathers.” She let out a light airy laugh as a calm smile rested upon her face. “He needs that every-so-often. It’s good for him.”
Having just suffered through a nasty thunderstorm, the Domain was rather cold today. An angry breeze ran down the canyon walls, racing the droplets of water it threw up as it went. Many Zora were enjoying it, though. They were happily swimming up and down the river, greeting you as they passed.
Stepping foot into the Domain, your eye immediately caught the bright red scales Mipha and her younger brother Sidon dawned. They stood together just below the throne room, laughing playfully at something one of Sidon’s friends said. You approached, a content smile on your face despite your physical appearance. Mipha took note.
“[Name.]” She met you halfway up the steps in a warm, friendly embrace. Her arms locked together at your shoulders, giving a slight squeeze. “Are you alright?” She whispered, only letting loose enough to examine your physical status. Her cringe wasn’t hidden well as her brows laced together. “Come, let me take care of that for you.”
Ruta was growing impatient lately. The Beast could sense the unrest beneath Hyrule as the Calamity geared up for its final battle against all that is good.
“More upgrades?” Daruk groaned. “Poor Rudania ‘sgot to be tired by now.”
“Good to see you too, Daruk.” You strolled into the city, clutching the few materials you could carry on your own.
“N-not that I didn’t want ‘ta see you!” He gave you a goofy smile. “Aren’t ‘cha workin’ a bit too much, kiddo?”
“I’ll be fine.”
“I moved all that stuff ‘ya had delivered up to Rudania. Lots’sa metal! Doing more upgrades?”
When you arrived in Rito Village, you stayed as far away from Seoi or Junil as you could. Nobody could pay you enough to face them after Keumi passed away. Nobody greeted you on the bridge, nobody walked you up the steps jumping up and down excitedly as you explained why you were there, and nobody spoke to you as you ascended the steps up toward Revali.
“Ah,” he turned from his desk and quickly collected something from a hook, “you’re early.”
Medoh’s installments were the easiest of them all. Medoh knew you well by now. Everything went smoothly, each nut and bolt that went into Medoh was accepted and adjusted. Before you knew it, the updates were finished.
Revali’s home was quite small, only a few square feet. His prized bow rest against one of the support beams near the back of the room. A large hammock hung from the rafters with a blanket lazily hanging from it. Unlike a majority of the homes, you spotted a desk where a journal laid open with Revali’s signature cursive inscribed inside. Who knew he kept a journal?
“People can see us.” You pointed out, head turning awkwardly away from the Elder’s home that sat no further than ten feet away. The Elder could clearly be seen inside, his nose buried in a book.
“Unlike you Hylians,” Revali tugged you closer to him, “us Rito aren’t nosey.”
Returning your gaze to the Elder, you noted that he really hadn’t turned to see what was going on inside Revali’s home once. He was happily doing his own thing; almost unaware you were even in the village.
“Anyway,” he leaned back against a pillow he had moved to the floor, “you look better.”
Thinking back to your recent endeavors, you were reminded that your health wasn’t your own doing. Mipha was a blessing, and she was responsible for it. “Yeah.” You mumbled, relaxing a bit into him.
“I got you something.” A hand brushed the hair from your shoulders as a chain was lightly strung around your neck. You heard a small snap as he connected the two ends.
Proudly, he pulled his neck pack to get a better view, eyeing the necklace. “Look for yourself. I quite like it.”
The necklace was light weight, clear, with two feathers encased in a thick layer of resin. The contrast between the two colors was stark, but somehow worked nicely together. A larger Prussian blue feather that faded to white was laid behind a small one that was fiery orange.
“Is this…?” You examined the piece. “When did you get this?”
“It was commissioned a few weeks ago. I thought it would be a nice gesture to remind you that,” he moved closer, “that we’re always by your side.”
“Where’d you get hers?”
“It would have been much easier if you hadn’t such a messy room.” You could hear the smirk in his voice. “It was on your tunic.”
“Why do you do this to yourself?” He whispered. The night had deepened, the Elder had long since gone to sleep, and the Village had quieted. Lanterns were extinguished and soft snores filled the air from each and every home. Every home but Revali’s.
“Do what?” You mumbled; eyes closed. Your head lay softly against Revali’s chest, listening to the soothing repetition of his beating heart.
“Never take time for yourself. Relax a bit.”
“That’s rich coming from you.” You grumbled, turning to ruffle his feathers further. He brought the blanket up around your shoulders, tucking it under your chin. “When Zelda found you to ask if you’d help, you were practically killing yourself.”
“I was practicing, mind you.” He sighed. “I wanted to be the Village’s finest warrior and in order to do so I had to work for it.”
“So, think of it like that. I want to be the best scientist, but I have to work for it.”
“You already are the best scientist Hyrule has to offer. I’ve yet to see the one with the nasal voice or the other one with the large spectacles. They’ve not worked on Medoh once.”
“We’ve gone over this – Purah and Robbie. Nice people. They’re getting all the recognition, though.”
“From who?”
“The King.”
Revali scoffed, nuzzling closer as the wind knocked on the door and entered without permission. The room chilled, the surface of your skin frosted in the crisp air. “And who says the King’s recognition is important?”
“Once again, rich coming from someone who already has that.”
“I can never win with you, can I?” He chuckled, his chest rumbling as he did. “Once this is all over, I think we should take some time to ourselves.”
“But we aren’t dating.” You reminded him.
“I beg to differ. Have you seen your current state? Perched upon my chest for the hundredth time this month and you truly believe we aren’t dating?” He scoffed, throwing his head back to let out a laugh. “You’re far too modest to admit you’re one of my adoring fans, aren’t you? You must feel like you’ve won the lottery! To be with me, of course.”
“Where will we go?”
Revali stopped rambling and adjusted himself beneath you, his grip tightened around your shoulders. “Wherever we want.” A smile crept its way upon his lips as he listened to your breathing slow and become steady. “Perhaps somewhere outside of Hyrule.” There were vast unexplored lands beyond the seas, past the mountains, and further into the desert. Adventure was waiting beyond the borders you had set up for yourself.
“I think that would be fun.”
The two of you grew quiet as Revali assumed you had drifted to sleep. Medoh creaked above, the gears rubbed against one another as the Beast patrolled the open skies. Crickets chirped in the distance, the river flowed loudly, winds whipped and swirled up from the updrafts, and the crack from a far-off avalanche filled the night with an orchestra of sound. He swallowed as he thought back to the last time you visited the Village. He felt a pang in his chest as he was reminded of the friendship and family you lost. He felt his heart beat faster as he pondered whether it was the right time.
“[Name]?” Revali called, catching you off guard. He had never called you by your name before. You had become so attuned to the array of nicknames.
“Hmm?” You hummed; your eyes were still closed as you awaited his response. His heart rate audibly picked up.
“I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
