It had been three weeks since Danny disappeared on that jet, and Bruce was no closer to finding out where the kid had gone.
He had completely disappeared, with no trace whatsoever.
Bruce knew he wasn’t doing well emotionally. He just kept worrying about Danny. Danny who was young, and far too thin, and never truly relaxed at his side.
When Bruce was awake at night, his mind would wander to if he could’ve done something different. Maybe he should’ve watched Danny more closely. Maybe if he bothered Danny earlier, or put a security camera in the bathroom, or asked Danny what he was nervous about…
The Leauge wasn’t any help either. Clark couldn’t find Danny anywhere. He put ads in the metropolis paper about a missing kid, but nothing had come of it so far. Martian Manhunter couldn’t search for Danny himself, since he didn’t know the kid, but rarely even found people thinking about Danny Fenton- the times he did were all found to be a coincidence (there were five people in the United States with that name). Captain Marvel was on a mission, and was completely unreachable. The others in the Justice League kept a look out, but didn’t have any positive reports yet.
The Justice League Dark was aware of the issue, but were dealing with their own situation. Essentially, they were trying to act as the middle men between multiple cults, a government agency, and the king of Ghosts. It was a mess, but Batman was assured that his involvement would only “bugger up the whole process”, as Constantine put it.
Batman’s investigations were proving more fruitless than usual. Any mentions of Danny Fenton or his parents were wiped from the internet by a government agency. Batman attempted to recover the files, but the recovered data was corrupted to the point it was nearly unreadable.
The information he could get didn’t make any sense. He found records from a school psychologist, but the psychologist in question didn’t seem to actually exist. Not even the High School seemed to exist. The address was just an empty field in the Midwest.
Batman could even remember something else, some other name that was mentioned, but he couldn’t recall it. Not even the Martian Manhunter could make him remember the name of Danny’s supposed guardian.
Batman could swear he wrote it down, but it was completely empty. The information was simply stripped from everywhere, even the Batcomputer.
Which concerned him quite a bit. Something powerful was at play here, but it didn’t seem to want anything but for certain people to be completely forgotten.
The worst part was, it was working. Manhunter had to ask Batman what the name he was supposed to look for was.
Danny was short for something, wasn’t it? Batman didn’t know what anymore.
Batman just hoped he could figure this out before he forgot about Danny completely.
Prompt: Against Danny's wishes, Bruce attempts to gain custody of him. Danny responds by fleeing.
Found in the @haunting-heroes-creative-games discord server. Rabbit, I don't know your tumblr, but this one goes out to you.
EDIT: @rabpitpie HAS REVEALED THEMSELVES
===
"I am not homeless." Danny petulantly mutters. He's a runaway. There is a difference, even if Danny is smart enough not to voice that out loud.
Bruce Wayne, for some god forsaken reason, does not listen.
"Okay, I understand, but your parents—"
"Do not talk about my parents." Danny grits his teeth, struggles to keep his fangs in check.
Bruce puts his hands up in surrender, placating. "Amity Park authorities say that Vlad is your new guardian, because he was named your godfather."
Danny just about stops himself from growling. "Vlad is full of shit."
Bruce ignores him. "But the documents were shoddy at best, and as Jack's—your father's cousin and a registered foster parent, your teacher thought it was pertinent that I was at least informed."
At that, Danny stills. Mr. Lancer? He would be the only one…
"And I want to help you, Daniel."
"Danny." Danny unthinkingly corrects, before he scowls. He was too distracted by thoughts of Lancer to keep himself in check.
"Danny," Bruce smiles, "Will you come to Wayne Manor? The other kids would be happy to have you around. The more the merrier I say!"
Danny eyes the hand offered to him. One one hand, anyone is better than Vlad. On the other hand, billionaire to billionaire isn't exactly and upgrade. Plus, Sam has always said that there was something off about the Waynes.
The rich always had a facade, but Sam was never sure why they would hide the preferable (in her opinion) part. Being seen as a smart businessman would be good for Wayne Enterprises. It's fishy that he would act so dopey, it reeks of tricking people into letting their guards down.
As far as Tuck knew, it wasn't like they were making shadey deals, so why the subterfuge?
Speaking of his friends. His chest vibrates. It's unnoticeable to the outside, but to Danny it buzzes through him. His "chest of holding" as Tucker calls it, has the burner phone Sam had gotten him ages ago, when they couldn't deny it anymore and had to make plans for Danny to flee the city.
Getting CPS called on him was not in the plan.
But then again, it's better than Vlad or the GIW.
Danny forces himself to relax, minutely and slowly, it would be suspicious if he were suddenly amiable, and takes a deep breath. He feigns having to war with himself, to weigh his pride and safety.
He reaches over begrudgingly, to Bruce's soft smile and firm handshake.
He just needs a moment. A single, solitary moment. He lets himself be led out of the room, stiff as Bruce gently guides him with a hand on his back.
The man smells of leather and machine oil. Through Danny's senses, he gets ghosts of bats in a well, in a cave, of comradery in space, of kevlar and—
Flashes of Val, smiling bright enough to match her ever present yellow tanktop, growling through the blackened visor of a red suit, sitting next to him in borrowed clothes and showing him her hoverboard as a sign of truce.
Billionaires, Danny thinks, smell of cologne and money.
They do not, Danny thinks, have polite ghosts waiting for them in the hallway, following them like silent bodyguards, tugging on their expensive shirt sleeves and smiling as if they have saved them, even in death.
Bruce Wayne, Danny thinks, is not all that he claims to be.
But it's not Danny's business if Batman wants to take Danny into his home.
What Batman wants, what Bruce Wayne wants, is irrelevant.
Danny gets in the car and watches through his periphery as a white car silently follows them to the airport.
The seatbelt sign dims with a soft ding as the plane cruises at altitude. Danny wordlessly gets up to use the bathroom, pointing towards it when Bruce hums a questioning tune.
Danny disappears the second he gets the bathroom door closed.

Guys... I started a Cat!Danny thing
Danny is walking in a park. It’s unfamiliar to him, but his surroundings are the least of his worries right now. Because he’s a cat. Currently. Wobbling around on four legs, incapable of human speech. He has a brief thought that he’s lucky he was able to de-transform enough that he wasn’t a ghost cat, wandering around in a park.
Still, he’s a cat right now with no idea how to not be a cat anymore. The fact that he doesn’t know where he is doesn’t bother him until he gets out of the park and realizes he wasn’t just in an unfamiliar park. He’s in an unfamiliar city.
He sits and tries to think. There are people walking by, probably about his age. All wearing uniforms that he doesn’t recognize, but he can read Gotham Academy from the insignia on them.
He can’t hear what happens next over the traffic and chatter of teenagers, but Danny sees some kid push over another and goes over to investigate. He has no clue what he’s going to be able to do as a cat, but he can’t just sit here and watch if they decide to get more physical.
Luckily, he can cross the street while a traffic guard halts traffic for the flow of people leaving the school. Nobody notices him as he goes underneath a bush to watch the bully.
They mostly argue. The bully is being mean, but other than pushing the other boy down, seems to leave it at a verbal confrontation. The other boy got up, and the bully took his bag and threw it to the ground, spilling school supplies everywhere. Two pencils and an eraser end up rolling next to where Danny was hiding under a bush. Danny’s fur bristled. “You’re so lucky you even go here. If your dad wasn’t Bruce Wayne we never would have let you in the gates.” The bully saunters off and leaves the boy alone to pick up all his stuff. Danny, wanting to help, bites the eraser and brings it over to the boy’s bag. The boy sees him and stills, Danny drops the eraser and walks back to the bush, this time coming back with one of the pencils. He repeats this for the last pencil and the boy still hasn’t moved.
Danny sits and tilts his head at the boy. He tilts his head in response. The boy seems sad. Not in his face, which is blank, or in his body, which is still tense from the earlier interaction. More like his energy is sad, he seems rather resigned to Danny.
“Mrow.” Danny forgets he is incapable of intelligent speech at the moment. But his noise makes the boy smile a little.
Danny does it again, leaning down and pushing the pencil towards him at the same time, trying to tell him to pick it up.
“Thank you.” The boy says politely, reaching over very slowly to grab his things. He finishes packing up his back just as slowly. Then reaches his hand out towards Danny.
Danny tenses, but the boy stops his hand before it can touch him, fingers down. Aw, the boy wants to be friends! Danny bumps the hand with his head saying, ‘we can be friends’, which translates to a small “mrrp”.
He wouldn’t mind being friends with the boy while he’s here. The boy slowly drags his fingers across Danny’s head, and Danny lets him.
Then Danny is being lifted, and he is not okay with that. He is small! Heights are much higher when you’re this small!
‘What are you doing?’ comes out as “Mrrr.” Danny growls lightly in frustration, letting his claws out enough to gain hold of the boys’ shirt. He doesn’t want to hurt him, but he doesn’t want to fall either.
“Shhh, it is okay.” The boy murmurs to him.“I want to take you home, I’ll give you food and shelter.”
Danny, for lack of a better option, thinks this is actually a great way to gain food. He’s not sure how he feels about cat food though. Danny lets out one short purr in response and the boy smiles another little smile.
“You have to be good.” He tells him. “And no one can know you’re there, so you will be transported in my backpack.”
Danny feels less good about that, and squints at the boy. The boy shifts his hold to one hand and rearranges his backpack so that the books are in the section meant for a computer, with cushioning to theoretically block them from hitting Danny. All small items are moved into the other pocket, and two books are pulled out entirely. They are placed on the ground before the bag is brought in front of Danny.
Danny looks between the bag and the boy twice. He ends up looking at the boy, and moves his paw to the boys’ cheek. He purrs once in confirmation, then turns back to the bag and crawls in. He curls up at the bottom, and looks up as the boy zips it almost entirely shut, leaving a bit of space between the zippers at the top of the bag. He feels movement as the boy gets up and starts walking, but the boy is careful. Danny barely feels anything, just looking through the crack as the sky turns into the roof of a car.
Well, he’s committed now. Danny takes a nap.

Tucker dug himself in quite a deep hole.
At first, it started because he was bored. He also wanted to test his skills in tech, since he was trained by Technus to use technology in a way nobody living could even do. He first did some simple probing, learning about the system that Batman used and learned how to keep his tracks hidden. He honestly thought breaking into the White House or NASA would be harder than breaking into Batman’s files, but it wasn’t. Everything was absurdly easy to get to. He could see the workarounds in the code just as easily as he could breathe.
Once he learned how to erase his tracks completely, he started with basic knowledge from Batman’s system. Over the course of a month, he read all the police reports, hero and villain reports, and the contingency plans that Batman had. Boy was Batman a paranoid man.
Then he delved deeper. He learned everything there was to know from over a decade of vigilante work. Then he used the Batcomputer (he had found out that it was actually called that from Nightwing himself. He had camera access, of course he was going to spy on the bats.) to hack into the Justice League system. He had to stop the manic chuckle that threatened to spill past his lips. He was just like the ghosts in a way that he loved to indulge his obsessions. And stalking vigilantes had become one of his.
Danny and Sam knew about what he was doing and never tried to stop him. The reason was simple: Tucker had warded against Amity Park so thickly, that not even magic users knew of the town’s existence. It wouldn’t show up on a map, or in books, or in history. Tucker might have used Clockwork for the last part, but the time ghost allowed him to hide Amity Park from the world. So there must have been a reason the ghost had allowed it.
After Tucker gained access to the Justice League files, he had become worried. There was a lot that they didn’t tell the public. The more he read, the more resentful he got. Failed alien invasions, kidnapping, mind control, cloning… the list went on and on.
If he didn’t know that the Justice League were the good guys… he might think they were the villains.
But they were the good guys, right?
He wasn’t so sure anymore.
It had been almost four months since he had first hacked Batman’s computer. From what he could tell after hacking Bruce Wayne’s cell phone, nobody knew that he was inside their systems. Nobody was that good of an actor. He would watch the Justice League briefings, watch their day to day, learn all the gossip, and then he would check Batman’s computer. It was a ritual he had started. A way to keep Amity Park safe should the Justice League turn against them or the world. He made his own contingency plans based off of Batman’s plans. The exception being that as a last resort, his plans would be fatal to anyone who struck against him. He just hoped that the day would never come.
Everything changed when Pariah Dark stole Amity Park. It had taken the Justice League almost two days to realize that there was a gigantic crater in Illinois. Nobody knew what had happened. When the city reappeared, the borders that had once protected it were also stripped away. The systems had been damaged in the fight, and in the teleportation process. There were so many that had died in the battle, so many more that were now homeless, or orphans. The city mourned for the dead—and the dead mourned their sacrifice. The evil King had been dethroned, but would Amity Park be the same? The world now knew it existed, and there was no ghost portal for him to run to Clockwork from. They were on their own.
As Tucker watched the Justice League try to help the citizens, he felt anger in the pit of his stomach. These people, these ‘heroes’, what would they learn about his people? Were they going to hurt them like they’ve hurt their own?
No. He was not going to let them hurt anyone from Amity Park.
He solicited all of the teenagers of Amity Park to help him rebuild the borders. Kick out the Justice League. His plan was met with some resistance, but they trusted Tucker. Within 24 hours, they had gotten the borders back online. The Justice League were then forced out of the town, and the town disappeared from existence once more.
Now if only he could get rid of the Justice League that tried to linger. Batman himself was proving difficult to get rid of. Especially since all of his bats kept trying to come out to play. Well Tucker had an ace up his sleeve too, and two could play that game.

Halloween prompts year 2 day 23
Au where Danny hides his powers and eldrich nature from his husband Tim and Tim hides his vigilante career from Danny.
Both are very successful and neither suspects a thing. Tim had originally planned to admit to being a hero at some point but they were always either interrupted or it just wasn't the right time and then Danny had mentioned a few times during thier engagement and marriage that he couldn't handle being with a superhero or vigilante and that it was a deal breaker. Unfortunately Tim was already deeply in love and couldn't bare to break up with him so now he lives in fear of Danny finding out and blackmailed the rest of the family into never letting it slip.
Danny is in a similar situation, ever since the portal incident people were afraid of his other half and no matter how hard he tried they always ended up hating him. He loved Tim and couldn't bare the thought of his husband having that same look of terror. Of hate. So he hid. Its all he could do. Back when he and his friends went on that road trip and gained the power of the reality gauntlet he had tried to undo his undeath entirely only to find out Danny had glitches spacetime enough that even if he undid it (which the gauntlet was incapable of doing) he would eventually wind up with the portal opening up on top of him at another date. Call it fate or destiny or whatever you like. He was stuck like this.
So he did the next best thing. He erased any proof he had ever existed. Even from the minds of his own friends. He then skipped town-or in this case universes- and used the gauntlets power to carve out a false identity in this new world full of heroes and hope
Luckly there was no one who could rat him out...until some blond guy in a trenchcoat started following him around the grocery store and talking to him. At first Danny was a little confused and annoyed but when he asked what the blond guy wanted he asked, "I wanna know what you are." And Danny went pale.
Constantine then proceeded to blackmail Danny into helping him with a case or else he would expose his dirty little secret to Tim.
Danny made the a deal, ensuring that it would only be this one time. He told Tim that he was being blackmailed but insinuated that it was something petty between him and some of the other high society house spouses. The kind of drama that Tim always made extra sure to steer clear of. He swore to Tim he was this close to spiking Bethanys muffins with a laxative in retaliation for something and Tim gave helper suggestions for how to do it without being caught while they got ready for the day.
Ever since Alfred passed away it was up to Danny and a few other people to keep the Waynes from falling apart. Honestly, no one realized how much that man did until he wasn't around anymore.
To be fair he pretty much spoiled Tim by picking up after him to the point the man can't function after a few days. If Danny ever had to leave Tim alone for prolonged periods of time he would return to a giant mess and something burning in the kitchen.
Danny would clean, Tim would spew a fountains worth of apologizes, he would forgive Tim (as if he was ever mad in the first place. This just reaffirmed that Tim needed him to protect and care for him, making his core vibrate in happiness) then they would...reacquaint themselves. He nearly shifted forms the first few times this happened. That would be one heck of a way for Tim to find out about his ghost half.
Danny smiled, thinking about those memories. He truly adored Tim and couldn't imagine a life without him. He would just have to make sure this trench coated guy never came anywhere near his precious husband.
John would really like to know what this entity was and what it wanted with the Wayne brat. It couldn't really be in love with the kid, could it? He had personally seen these relationships work out before but there many more he had seen that hadn't. He didn't want to take that risk, so he needed to get close enough to evaluate the situation himelf.

I think it's really funny that most of my issues w dp×dc fics would be immediately resolved if they were about Dan instead of Danny
(No hate to any fics that do these things btw I am just so so picky)
Jack and Maddie being awful irredeemable people? Not a risk if the fic is about Dan since he doesn't associate with them. If he did catch their ire (pre-agit) he probably genuinely did kill and replace Danny like some write the Fenton's believing
Ooc Danny who's too violent and fine with murder? That'd work wonderfully with Dan
I don't mind it but I don't care for ghost king Danny. However ghost king Dan honestly isn't that much of a leap considering he does canonically have Fright Knight working for him
-OP because he's ghost king Danny, Dan already canonically can make his own ghost portals, and could make himself appear on Valerie's watch and presumably other tech, and can duplicate, and electrocute, so on and so forth
Going to a Wayne Gala or whatever with Vlad? Works well with Danny but works incredibly well with Dan
Anyway basically what im saying here is I want to read Dan fics all the time
Bonuses, that I think are cool rather than being related to my grievances
Dan can look like his 14yr human and ghost self. And I still choose to believe he can look like his true self (as well as being able to appear as 24yr human Danny 🤔)
Honestly I don't think Dan would bother with a human identity unless forced. Maybe he needs to stay in it for an amount of time in order to stay grounded and not cease to exist bc his timeline is gone
If in the same dimension, Dan could easily know all the heroes identities, at least, know their real faces. He probably unmasked them after killing them just to see
I tend to imagine the JL w this one but Dan AND Danny being in DC is great too. I wonder how they'd explain the Dan situation. Dan could just say he's from an erased timeline. Or see how long he can convince others he's Danny's older brother or father or uncle or something
I think a plot could either be Dan just being a dramatic smug bastard OR Dan slowly learning how to heal and accept his emotions and let others in his life and become better for the people around him even if unintentionally. Or both. Especially both.Imagine.
#dpxdc#dp x dc#ask to tag#another thing abt dpxdc... why when not the jl are we always putting danny in Gotham. its very fun i admit. but the other heros have lives#too. i dont see any of them#kinda miss the tt fics from back in the day too#anyway this is just me rambling dont take me too seriously#dan phantom#id try to write something like this myself but i consider myself to far too casual of a dc fan to write fic

Death Warrant!Au
When the rejuvenating, life-extending effects of ectoplasm to the dead and dying was discovered by planets across the stars, it triggered mass conflicts that left several systems obliterated beyond repair. Hundreds of Billions had migrated to the Realms in numbers that were never seen before by the residence of the dead. They had various forms of damage and disfigurement on their new forms as a result of the ectoplasm being weaponized and used on them. Their very beings were corrupted beyond repair with their minds significantly altered with highly specified obsessions.
• Peoples from the destroyed worlds being so afraid that they lashed out, ripping anything that saw them to pieces out of fear of being attacked.
A serpentine creature of the Realms eagerly stalking them and fed upon their cores to grow stronger.
• Soldiers of these races were hell-bent on continuing to fight and proceeded to attempt subjugate this dimension that was new to them. Their rage guiding them blindly as they left paths of destruction throughout the realm.
A beast, wrongly slaughtered in the early madness of an delicate fledgling world that happened to be rich with ectoplasm followed the warpath and basked in the rage.
Eventually, more creatures like them came to prominence as a result of these strange new victims. Being aspects of emotion that were born from the masses in the war.
The Ghost King during this time period could not sit idly by and watch these newly born ghosts run rampant and terrorize his kingdom. With a heavy heart and a weapon in hand, a call to arms was called and the purge of these beings began. It tooks thousands of years, but when the last corrupted ghost was destroyed, the King took to the realm of living and wiped away all traces of the Realms from the minds of the survivors with all recollections of this terrible war for ectoplasm erased from history.
As his rested his eyes one final time, before the Tyrant would cowardly claim his life, made a major, sacred declaration that all citizens was made:
• If any hostile, mutant ghosts were to be found, they were to captured and examined by the king's council to await judgement. If they are too dangerous to restrain and seek bloody violence, they are to be destroyed.
• Any scientists trying to use ectoplasm for endangering life were to be have their memories erased and put to the sword for their crimes.
• Anyone foolish enough to Defy Death using ectoplasm, the greatest violation of the laws in the infinite Realms, they were to be put to death as and immediately given their Second End.
~•~ ~•~ ~•~ ~•~ ~•~
When Pariah Dark, the Cowardly Tyrant King, is defeated and Danny fianlly takes the throne after a few centuries of training, the Observers hand him a compiled a list of names who violated these sacred laws.
They have him start with Earth and Danny's jaw hits the floor with what the charges he was seeing. He can already hear the chaos in the meeting room.
• Amanda Waller, Vandal Savage, Darkseid, Granny Goodness, a court of owls(?)...the list is long, and that's just Earth alone!
• Jack "The Goddamn Joker" Napier and a few of the more violent Rouges of Gotham are charged with Veil Destabilization.
Even Jason Peter Todd Wayne...the Red Hood!? Danny can probably work something with Jason, force him into therapy sessions (along with the whole damn family) with Jazz and a couple cleansing sessions and supplements from Frostbite...the others had to go...
The continued slaughter of the innocent, combined with the suffering they endured and the misery felt by Shades who couldn't move on was making the veil deteriorate at dangerous speeds. New pits would form across the city eventually as a result.
Lady Gotham has done everything she can to keep the madness from happening but she can't hold it back any longer. Her core is ready to shatter under the stress and is constantly in agony, but she won't abandon her knights, despite Danny's pleas to save herself.
There's a certain brigade of furry's who may or may not like this news but said brigade had no choice but to take it on the chin. They have children who Defied Death in their ranks and the Realms are not afraid to destroy anyone foolish enough to stop them.
• Lex Luther is charged with crimes against humanity. And several other violations in regards to unethical experimentation.
One sticks out to Danny.
Lex used Danny's stolen DNA from a stray core shard from the Guys in White, who he was was funding in secret, even after they were disbanded, to create a clone comprised of the Earth's resident Kryptonian, the bald bastard, and himself to kill and replace said Kryptonian...the guy who literally helps save the earth time and time again from doom.
...Yeah, Lex is undoubtedly, fucked beyond total comprehension. Anyone defending him was risking all-out war with the Infinite Realms.
But hey, at least Danny was finally having child of his own! The little tyke is only a few years old in the tube, Ellie's visits are far and in-between and Danny's status as a Halfa made him sterile and develop an embarrassingly strong case of baby fever.
He's sure the ghosts from Krypton would love to help out in raising Conner in case Kal-El wasn't really planning on being around the boy. After all, being cloned himself, Danny knows the emotional baggage that comes with being violated to this degree by your enemy.
He just hopes the guy can come around and accept the little guy...

Hi! I've read your ectoham bad end!au and I found it kinda interesting. Would you mind if I shared with you a small contribution to this au, if you are interested?
Basically, it would delve into the consequences Dan's tinkering with the timeline and Randy's abuse at Dan's hands has had on Danny and Randy psyche.
Like, let's imagine that Danny manages to fix things and restore the original timeline, preventing Dan from existing, and that randy is restored to his fourteen years old self, instead of being eighteen or twenty two years old. Unfortunately, Randy's memories with Dan in that alternative future didn't get erased with the rest of the timeline, and he has veritable memories of four or more years being Dan's pet and boy toy, with everything that entailed: the abuse, the torture, the possible sexual assault.....
And that breaks him. Randy, the fluffy ball of sunshine and rainbows ends up absolutely traumatized of everything he went through as Dan's prisoner, and, as you said, developed Stockholm syndrome and codependency to his captor, something that doesn't disappear when the original Danny rescues him and makes everything return to its original state.
At first, Randy tried to shrug it off with his typical antics, but that doesn't last that much and he finds increasingly difficult to bring himself to pretend. What's worse, his time with Dan has made Randy have mixed feelings towards Danny. He still loves the ghost boy with all his heart, but now these feelings are mixed with the dread he harbored towards Dan, which makes Randy fall into old behavioral patterns when he's around Danny.
Because, although Dan was cruel, he could also act all lovingly and caring when he wanted, specially when Randy pledged to his wishes, which meant that Dan would give Randy treats when he was a "good boy" and behaved accordingly. After all, victims of abuse that have a toxic relationship abusers often feel that, when their abuser punishes them, it's somehow the victim's fault. So now Randy, everytime he's near Danny, acts in a similar manner when around Dan, which means that Randy tried to be as complacent and less obtrusive as possible, which translated to his boisterous and cheeky nature being mostly snuffed out.
However, Danny soon picks up the signals that something isn't quite right around Randy, mainly because, despite Danny not being the most empathetic person (that's Randy's forte, since he's far more extroverted) his time with Randy has made him become more aware of how people truly feels, so it doesn't take a long time for Danny to notice that randy doesn't look at him in the eyes any more, or that he shivers and gets stiff every time Danny holds his hand, and, of course, randy doesn't crack nearly as many jokes as he used to.
Danny eventually confronts randy about the issue, fearing that Randy doesn't love him anymore, because Danny didn't quite realize the full damage of Dan's actions and only assumed that randy would only be freaked out by his evil alter ego being big and scary. The issue is, Randy still loves Danny, but everytime he sees Danny, he also sees Dan, and the trauma inflicted by Danny and Vlad's fusion makes Randy increasingly difficult to dissociate one from the other, which translates to a mix of fear, revulsion, adoration and dependency.
Upon finding out how much Randy was hurt by Dan, to say Danny gets absolutely furious would be an understatement, but this time, instead of ruminating on his own feelings, he does his best to be the anchor Randy was always to him, because randy was always a source of support for Danny, and Danny wants to reciprocate, so Danny tries to be as supportive and patient as possible.
However, Danny also has his own problems, the discovery of the full extent of Dan's abuse towards Randy takes its toll on Danny psyche, since although Danny had always had an ambivalent relationship with his ghost powers, finding out what randy went through causes a spurt of bitter self-loathing to rise within Danny, which makes him to blame himself for Randy's actual condition. After all, Danny can't be sure that the abuse inflicted by Dan was all Vlad's half, otherwise, his own half would have refrained itself from hurting Randy so much, which makes him question wether he's a good person at all.
Also, he feels that he's losing randy with each passing day, as they are becoming increasingly distant, and although Danny starts to ponder wether he should break up with Randy, so that the distance will heal Randy's emotional scars with Danny being out of the picture, the feelings he harbors towards the purple haired boy, and the void he feels everytime he tries to imagine his life without Randy, whom he loves so very fucking much, makes Danny cry himself to sleep in his bed every night.
At the end, they remain together, and they manage to support each other, but the process of recovery is incredibly difficult, and it involves many, many sessions of therapy with jazz, which almost always end up with both of them hugging each other and crying their eyes out.
So, what do you think? Would it serve for a fanfic or what?
THE FACT THAT YOU MANAGED TO SUMMARIZE MY EXACT THOUGHTS OF THE DYNAMICS DESPITE MY BRAIN BEING DOO DOO AND REFUSING TO GET THE PROPER WORDS OUT IS INCREDIBLE
i've been trying to continue working on the AU, but i was just so consumed by different fandoms and my eventual job that it was difficult to make time for it
if i ever decide to abandon the AU, i'm more than happy to give to someone who knew what my brain was thinking at the time
#i'm too consumed by sonic to really give any proper thoughts on this AU or even continue it atm#it's been pushed to the very back but i do like what i did with it#it was mainly cuz i liked angst and it was the best i could come up with#rc9gn#danny phantom#ectoham#bad end ectoham au

Danny Phantom
There's not much change in name, but I intend to use what the fandom come up for his middle name (at least I think that's what the fandom agreed on? I might be wrong).
Daniel James Fenton.
Daniel, his actual full first name.
James, is what I remembered the name the fandom agreed upon, or at least some of it.
Fenton, his family name. There's nothing for me to explain about.
Also, a friend pointed out that I have a habit of giving things dramatic names (I'd say the influence of Genshin is strong af-). I do have a habit of making something to be more extreme than it was when it was originally made, so please don't mind it.
Relationships:
Maddie and Jack:
They're still the goofy and quirky parents Danny and Jazz had, but was smarter, more understanding and compassionate compared to the original. Knew Danny turned into ghost and the portal incident, more like they were also witnesses of that said incident. The sound of his scream of agony and pain manage to pull out nightmares for the both of them on several nights. However, that doesn't waver their love for their son. Sure, he may become half of the being they're hunting down for the sake of studies or something, but that doesn't erase the fact that this ghost child is their child, their little baby who unfortunately fell into the abyss of their own mistakes and neglect. They assists Team Phantom many times when it comes to the supply and whatever knowledge they have currently and are still expanding beyond their current understanding for the sake of learning to find a solution that wouldn't harm either side of the plane.
Jazz:
Nothing much different compared to the canon, except she was also a witness to the incident. Her overprotectiveness tenfold, much to Danny's dismay, and it took a lot of time for them to find a common ground and for her to tone down. There's nothing much different in this version compared to the original.
Sam, Tucker:
Danny's friends since elementary. Their relationship is pretty much the same as they are in canon, but what's different is that Danny and Sam doesn't harbor feelings for one another (I apologize for those who ship Amethyst Ocean), and therefore they aren't in any other relationship other than best friends.
Valerie:
Danny's relationship with Valerie is very contradictive compared to their relationship in canon. First and foremost; Valerie listens to people more than just act out and shutting her ears out, yes she sometimes act out first questions later, but she had made pretty good judgements and know that nothing good happens when jumping to conclusions too quickly and taking everything at face value without knowing the full story. She and Danny became friends during freshman year of middle school, and although Valerie still somewhat in the 'popular' clique in their school, she'd prefer to spend time with the Team Phantom any time. She could be considered the hub of all gossips at school with how much information she gets from the most loud and chatty clique of the whole school.
Dani/Elly, Dan/Ozzy:
Dani: The first ever semi-success clone of Danny made by Vlad. Nothing really is different in their relationship, until Dani was in the most critical condition that had something to do with her unstable ectoplasm, which required her to have to be revert to a some sort of fetus and undergo a process similar to normal human pregnancy, but instead of putting the halfa fetus into Danny, it was put inside of a bottle first before a birthing pod when the halfa child became more mature and resembles a newborn. In turn, she'll be reborn back as purely Danny's child (think about Ben who asexually reproduced, but went through a completely different process) without any of her past memories in place. The art and technology of doing this process remains undisclosed. Her new identity became Eleanor Maria Fenton with the nickname "Elly", and she became the ghost princess by right of birth after her "rebirth".
Dan: Their relationship remains the same until Danny decided to properly take care of Dan (before the de-aging). Think of it like a Nahida-Scaramouche/Wanderer relationship. Although it was a painfully grueling process, Danny was patient and really think about Dan and his freedom and his disoriented characteristics at heart and tried to the best of his abilities to help Dan out through it all. However, it turns out the ectoplasm from Vlad's half in Dan was found out to have a corruption, making Dan going through an excruciating pain and suffering. In order to cleanse the corruption entirely, Dan have to go through the same process as Dani, reverting him back to that of a fetus, born now as a halfa, and restart everything from scratch. His new identity became Kalos Marcus Fenton with the nickname "Ozzy", becoming the ghost prince by right of birth after his "rebirth". He and Elly had became twins in this current life.
Cujo:
The ghost dog that Danny found outside the building of Axion Labs (no, he didn't went in and wreck the place, because I'm twisting some things in Shades of Gray because Valerie is part of Team Phantom from the start). The dog looked lost, confused, as if it doesn't know what to do, so Danny decided to take the dog in and brought him home. After a while, he realized the tag on the dog's collar, and figured that this dog at some point was a staff at Axion Labs or maybe someone related to someone who works at the lab, and decided to check what's the deal with the dog and the lab. Danny later found out that the ghost dog, along with other dogs before (he didn't know if the other staff dogs are also dead, but he'll have to check it up later) are used to be guards dogs decades ago, but they were let down when technology became more efficient. The dog canals, food bowls, and other stuff are being put in an abandoned storage space that was completely sealed off. But a single toy stood out to him, a squeaky toy. Since this is the only toy in the whole room, Danny assumed this might've belonged to the ghost dog he found, so he decided to go back home and hoping this is the item that the dog was looking for to the point of waiting outside the walls of the lab for, which thankfully it was. However, instead of going back to the Ghost Zone, the dog decided to stay, and Danny became his owner after asking Maddie and Jack (to which both agreed). Cujo became his name.
Vlad:
Good god, where do I even begin... Ok, I guess I should start that their relationship is a lot worse than in canon. Yes, he still had that hatred towards Jack, but he also hated Maddie as the miniature portal was also her creation as it is to Jack's. By extent, he hated both of their kids too (unreasonable? Yes, but anything goes for me-), but particularly Danny due to his status as a halfa and the many connection he had between the living plane and the Ghost Zone. Dani's creation wasn't because he wanted a perfect son, it was an attempt to use the clones as an army to attack Danny. Dan's creation was literally a succeeded version of Vlad's plan. Vlad figured that the only way to really hurt Maddie and Jack, was to hurt their beloved youngest, the more pain the better he said. Vlad was so deep into his hatred towards the Fentons, morality was completely out the window and down the drain for him. Every attempt was another way for him to destroy the Fentons of what they did to him, he wasn't willing to talk whatsoever, even an attempt would've been futile instead. Due to me completely erasing Phantom Planet from existence, Vlad was still roaming free under the facade of a good natured mayor while scheming to get rid of the Fentons by any means necessary. His ectoplasm became corrupted due to many times it was used to experiment dangerous creations and many mysterious methods. However, Vlad could withstand it due to his overflowing amount of sheer hatred, while Dan couldn't handle the corruption due to having Danny's DNA.
Manny:
A fellow member of the Nicktoons Team. Manny (alongside Jenny) joined much later. They started out as acquaintances then friends, then after a while, they both started a relationship. Manny's life became even more interesting by the time the twins came to the picture, and Manny wouldn't want it any other way. He's a great babysitter (and maybe even parent, someday).
Jimmy, Timmy:
Danny considered both of them as his troublesome younger brothers, particularly Timmy. It all happened because the Turners asked the Fentons if it's ok for them to leave Timmy under the Fentons for a while, and that's how Danny's babysitting career started (do not ask for details. If you know what the Turners are like, that should speak volumes enough). Danny met Jimmy a little later afterwards after seeing a lonely kid on the bench of the courtyard of Timmy's school, so he decided to approach him, and that's how they get to know each other. Danny was a bit protective towards Jimmy due to how many times he's been bullied and being treated as an outcast because of his high IQ, so Jimmy found a safe haven in Danny. Although Danny said he's more of their babysitter than anything, Danny turned out to be that of a parental figure of the team; slightly strict but responsible and gave out reasonable rules so no one gets into unwanted troubles even outside missions. Both Jimmy and Timmy viewed Danny is that of the 3rd parental figure who kept them grounded and the voice of reason and motivation for them. Although he is still capable of grounding them, like confiscating Timmy's video games and locking Jimmy's lab while taking the key with him. Jenny said it was a given considering many times those two caused trouble.
SpongeBob:
Danny's best buddy in the team. SB had always been the motivational one of the whole team and kept everyone in spirits. Literally the closet person he had in the team way before Manny and Jenny. Supports Danny through thick and thin, and was the first person Danny ever confided with whenever he had problems and vice versa.
Jenny:
Was the only person (robot?) Danny recognized in Center Shades, and the only one Danny talked with for a while until he got to know the other members (particularly Randy and Jake). Danny was Jenny's backup fixer whenever Jimmy is not available and/or wasn't with them altogether, hence the only person Jenny trust in the other team with her mechanisms.
Info Dumps:
I will be dumping a hella load of info in this column, so be warned if you don't want to read everything. I'm not really willing to make a separate blog about this topic itself, so consider it like a Danny speciality that you can't find anywhere except asking Danny himself;
The term 'ghosts' is an umbrella term used for all types of spirits that originates from all the realms of the Infinite Realms (commonly known as the Ghost Zone). Just because they're called ghosts, doesn't necessarily mean they are whatever that's left of a human spirit.
Ghosts aren't inherently bad natured; they're more driven by their obsessions more than anything, and doesn't really meant to cause harm, but their obsessions could clouded their better judgement, making them getting mischaracterized as 'bad natured' and 'pure evil'. They're not bad, they just need something to feed off of their obsessions to find a few specks of peace.
The Ghost Zone is actually named as Infinite Realms, but another name was also proposed when the realm was first discovered; Gap of The Sun. The reason for this naming is that it was once believed that this realm had been created from a sun that once exploded, and instead of turning into a black hole, it turned into a neverending realm filled with doors leading to many other realms. However, the naming and this theory was eventually dropped due to lack of evidence to support the claim of the exploded sun that created this primal realm.
The nature of ectoplasm is currently unknown, but it is theorized to be remnants of a spirit's will and their former drive when they were still alive. But due to the lack of evidence, there is no concrete info that the ectoplasm were remnants of the ghosts leftover living will. It was only left that ectoplasm are just what give these ghosts their shape after their soul no longer resides using a human vessel in the living plane.
There's a phenomenon between the ghosts called a "Death Day", where the ghost will have to relive the memories of their death, the feeling of pain they felt all over again. They would go completely paralyzed and won't be able to move at all as they relive the memories and pain of their death with nowhere to go as they couldn't move. The aftereffects when the day of their Death Day had passed are; extreme numbness, lacking color vision in their sights (everything is in black and white for them), complete blockage of their powers, and whatever that's left in their mood swings of their Death Day. The only way to minimize the pain during Death Day was when the spirit's living loved ones visit their graves or commemorate the death anniversary. Even then, that won't erase the pain entirely, as it won't affect anything in the aftereffects (although this is unclear for those who are born as a halfa). (This is inspired by that one DPxDCA fic on AO3).
Danny's ghost king title:
Ok, so I did said that Danny became ghost king in this version, right? Well, in version, Danny became ghost king a little later after the defeat of Pariah Dark. Technically, he was already crowned shortly after, but due to the fact he's biologically and chronologically too young to rule yet, it was decided that Danny have to wait until he was 20 to finally take on the big roles of being the king of ghosts. Until then, he was made to do smaller tasks that seemed a bit big to him at first, but once he became king, the weight was even more immense than what he had initially thought it would.
The Ghost Law:
A law that is absolutely mandatory to follow by all ghosts of every realm and every kind. Here are some examples;
Ghosts are absolutely forbidden to harm those who still resides the living plane by any means.
In terms of handling one's obsessions, it is absolutely advised to ask the Ghost King for any solution that wouldn't involved the living beings.
Killing a living soul or the environment of the living realm will be heavily punished.
In terms of living amongst the alive in the living plane, a barrier must be made around the property to prevent ghost hunters or unwanted guests from lingering the property.
When a soul from the living plane had lost its human vessel and could no longer resides amongst the alive (basically: someone died), it is an absolute must to inform the ghost king in order to conduct the 'White Farewell' ceremony for the now-departed spirit.
Personality:
Not much different, except he radiates mom energy all over. Well, no wonder. Along with Ben, Danny has plenty experience when it comes to hyperactive and/or rowdy kids, and had a huge sense of parental responsibility towards everyone. Both Danny and Ben would be fussing over those who would dive head first into trouble without a clear plan and getting injured in the process, or when someone did something incredibly stupid it ended as a huge problem (they're in the Overview department for a reason).
Danny is more... Elegant compared to the original. There's always an aura of grace coming from him, and sometimes his voice comes off a sort of a mystical vibes, even if he didn't intend to it. Although despite being king, his overall personality didn't change; humble, friendly, and approachable.
Battle attire:
Something like a royal outfit, but nothing extravagant. Ok, maybe adding a bit of claws on his gloves could be a bit extra, but you can't blame me, blame Ningguang-
The hair tho, I have been thinking like a Zhongli-style ponytail in battle form. But in normal form, like human form will varies depending on what Danny wanted. Majority of his hair would already be white even in his human form.
The design I came up with.
(Base: TheCherryMonsterLu (DeviantArt));
Weapons:
Polearm
Fenton Thermos
Flashdisk
Abilities:
Ghost powers
Ice powers (from his Ice Core)
Ectoplasm generating
Mind reading
Dream-jumping
Other Info:
Obtained the title or nickname as "Siren Voice", due to his mystical and beautiful voice. Think of it as those myths where sailors would disappear when they heard the voice of a mermaid/siren. This'll be hella useful for Danny in so many ways.
Ftm transgender, though he liked being called 'mom' by the twins.
Although he is a Fenton, he does not have the Fenton luck when it comes to driving (neither does Jazz). But he was usually being driven to by his ghostly staff/guards than driving himself. He still have a driver's license though.
Still can't get close to Blood Blossoms, otherwise he'll experience pain as horrible as the time of his 'death'.
Danny's body is sturdy but also hella flexible. He used to do gymnastics when he was younger, but his flexibility was greatly enhanced when he became a halfa.
Danny's eyes changed after the incident, not just when he's a ghost; originally icy blue, now blue on top half, and ecto green on bottom half. His eyes is still fully green when he went ghost.
The 2nd tallest in both at Nicktoons and the other team. Sorta thriving and suffering at the same time (the whole 'shorter people live longer' joke became a bit too literal than it was intended to due to Jake's longevity).
Danny would, quite literally, became a dictionary when someone would ask about ghosts, its nature and laws, etc.
Danny and June are actually pretty close friends due to their shared dreams to be an astronaut (even with their current circumstances).
Danny used to love eating sweets and desserts, but as Sam and Valerie monitored him and limit his consumption of sweet food ever since he had the twins.
Given everyone his protection seal, so ghosts couldn't really harm them, and it'll be much easier dealing with the ghosts like that because they're under the 'territory' of the ghost king himself.
At some point, Danny will start an orphanage for lost young souls who met their fate far too early. Randy might also do the same, but just with living children, and there will also be rescue shelters and such.
He, along with Jake are currently searching to find ways so that lighter energy-beings like Jake and June could enter the Infinite Realms due to having absolutely chaotic and mixed energies.
Danny's signature flower is Star Lit Orchid.

Dannymay 2024, now with kitty paws!
Prompts from my AU, also in AO3
Day 27: Zombie AU
Danny hissed at the cat in front of him. The teen was terrified and the aggressive cat before him was growling as if it was a savage animal.
Danny knew he shouldn't have tried to cheat on the C.A.T. Beyond the perfect pun, Danny was tired and all the ghost fights did not let him study for this important test. Who would have thought that doing that would lead to the destruction of everything he loves and subsequently the world?
If it wasn't for Clockwork explaining, Danny would have never known that the huge cat the size of a truck with rotting flesh and a rabid look on its eyes was himself from a bad future. It seemed that after losing his purpose, Danny lost his mind and got stuck in a form of malice.
The evil cat was like some kind of zombie and had infected people and animals alike and transformed those people into zombies as well, which started the zombie apocalypse that the future world was suffering from.
Because the Ghost Zone was strange, some portals could displace ghosts or people through time and, apparently, the corrupted future self of Danny ended up in his time.
Now, the halfa had to fight his own corrupted older self and avoid the end of the world. This was not going to be easy with his current form. Danny had transformed into a cat made of shadow and smoke. He would be immune to the zombie infection but fighting the zombie cat will be hard. Shadow and smoke were not good for physical attacks after all.
“Groooww” the zombie cat was not amused at seeing his younger self and attacked with no mercy in its eyes.
“Nya!” Danny was startled but fought anyway.
As Danny was smaller, he could easily dodge the zombie cat extremely powerful swipes but, as he was made of shadow and smoke, he couldn't land a hit on the strong zombie. They fought like this for an hour with none of them landing a hit on the other. Though Danny seemed to be the only one getting more and more tired.
But as he couldn't give up and let the corrupted cat get his way, Danny continued.
It seemed that the zombie also got tired of the boring fight and did something Danny would never forget.
The zombie yowled.
It was a horrible sound, it resembled the screams of hundreds of cats in pain and the raw screams of terror from humans. Danny saw the sound waves glow with power before traveling and impacting buildings and anything in their reach. Danny saw the buildings crumble and anything not anchored to the floor being blown away.
As Danny’s form was not solid, it didn't affect him as much. It only hurt his ears.
Danny knew that zombies were not able to scream like that, so that meant that the yowl was not a power from the zombie form but from future Danny. That meant that present Danny could theoretically learn it.
Not knowing how else to defeat this opponent, Danny tried his best to make the yowl. He first screamed at the zombie. Nothing happened. Then Danny directed some power to his throat before yelling. It only made him louder and no sound waves came forth to destroy anything. Then Danny put almost all his power into the yowl and screamed.
The sound waves appearing came as a surprise for both present and future Danny.
Unlike the pain and terror from the zombie, Danny’s yowl came with pain, desperation and somehow, hope.
The yowl impacted against the zombie cat and threw him into a building. It also destroyed the building on top of the zombie.
Danny was so tired that he transformed back into his human form. He saw the zombie cat trying to get out of the destruction zone and Danny, even if he was too tired to fight, used the thermos he had on him to trap that version of his future.
With the threat erased, Danny sat on the floor. He hoped Clockwork would help him get this time displaced cat in his own timeline.

Man, sometimes I just forget how much I love Daniel until I start writing him again- (fic soon?)
Like this man is so misunderstood by so many people. He’s not evil. He’s not a villain. He’s not bloodthirsty.
He was a brand new deviant who couldn’t control his emotions or actions made as a result of them (think of it like having the emotional regulation of a toddler in a fully capable adult’s body) and the first thing he felt was intense betrayal and fear. Things were bound to go wrong.
He couldn’t control his emotions - didn’t know how to - as he saw John buy a new android and wanted the problem - the pain - gone. The three shots were clear overkill so it’s clear that he was acting purely off of emotions that he couldn’t control. Not to mention that John was the one who bought the new android so Daniel wouldn’t have been needed anymore - which meant that he would have been reset and sold on or simply thrown away. Either way Daniel would have been erased and effectively killed. As a new deviant, I could only imagine a few things that might have been scarier to him at the moment than death and, in a way, you could argue that killing John was in self defense to prevent that death.
The first responder isn’t killed until 30 minutes later and that’s only after he shot at Daniel first, again self defense. Sure he has Emma at this point, but there’s no context to how he got her or what he plan was. She could have been confused with the chaos going on and ran to him. They could have been planning to leave together when the cop showed up at the only exit and drastic measures had to be made. Besides, at this point his only weapon is a gun (no 70 story drop) and you can’t convince me for a second that he’d ever even think about using it on Emma.
The rest of the cops that come brandishing guns all want to kill him and he’s still so hoped up on betrayal and anxiety and fear that there’s no way any of his decisions are made with a clear mind. He’s acting on impulse and a desperation to live. He knows they won’t risk shooting Emma, so if keeping her with him on the edge is the only way to keep himself alive, then so be it. Hell, it’s only if Connor drives Daniel further into a corner of hopelessness that he falls off the building and lets Emma die too.
Though, the most damning piece of evidence that he isn’t some monster comes straight from Daniel himself in the evidence room saying that he didn’t want to hurt anyone. He was just scared.
He really just thought his family loved him, felt the ultimate betrayal of learning that they didn’t, couldn’t control his newfound emotions and the actions they caused, and did things he didn’t want to do because he was scared. Scared of being betrayed. Scared of being replaced. Scared of dying. Scared of not being loved.
And that’s why Daniel’s one of the most relatable characters in dbh and tied for my favorite character in the whole game with Simon. I love my Danny boy and the sweet guy who just wants to be loved that he really is <3

Daughter of Olympus (Leo Valdez xFem!Oc)
A/N: The Nemean lion is so baby me thinks -Danny Words: 2,813 Series' Masterlist Previous Chapter / Next Chapter Listen to: 'Jumpstarted' -by Jukebox The Ghost
XXIII: I Hope This Doesn't Awaken Anything in Me
"Welcome, baby!" My mother has been waiting for me. "Take a seat—You've gotten so big since the last time we spoke!"
I examine myself on one of the many mirrors around in the living room. I have not grown, the only difference is the bruises and scratches on my body from all the hard training.
"Why am I here? Or why are you..." I frown. "Where are we?"
"This is my home in Olympus. Have a drink!" Pink lemonade appears on the table, along with my favorite super-stuffed cookies. My mother's smile widens. "All for you."
"Why?"
"Your birthday!" She clasps her hands together. "Thirteen is a cute age! So many changes..." She stares at me intently. "Let's talk about it."
I step back. "I'm sure I can ask Chiron later on—"
"Oh, that old horse doesn't see the full potential of an Aphrodite," she turns up her nose. "Might and skill—as if love isn't at the core of everything! Love—"
"Makes people useless," a man's voice comes from the doorway.
Aphrodite's eyes flash with annoyance. "Clean your boots before coming in."
"I'm only here to grab lunch," Hephaestus makes his way to the kitchen. "Hi again, kid."
"Hi," I say awestruck.
This has to be their shared home, though it's clearly decorated and used by Aphrodite only. I doubt he likes spending his afternoons in a soft and cozy room like this one.
"Can you hurry?" Aphrodite asks coldly. "We're having a private conversation."
"Ruining her," he glances at us. "The first of your children that's not a lost cause, and you're tainting her mind already."
"Tainting her?" My mother's eyes fill with tears. "You gave her the pantodýnamos!" Hephaestus grumbles, but I can't hear what he's saying. "You're such a momma's boy, and you don't even like her!"
The god's gaze is on fire, though unlike Ares's, his isn't violent. "Your child will be rewarded—mine won't have her luck, and that's on you." Hephaestus looks at me before leaving. "You've dealt with your brother's vanishment bravely, you'll learn from it."
Most gods take the opportunity to show off in front of mortals, but he seems to dislike talking to us. I can't blame him, he's been overshadowed by his peers, and Aphrodite has deemed him unlovable, that's got to sting.
"You have a funny mind," my mother sighs, drying her tears. "He's not special, honey. Hephaestus wants to be worshiped as much as I do."
"You were listening to my thoughts," I frown.
"Wherever love is, I get called to it. That's how it works."
I return to our prior discussion. "What can you tell me that not even Chiron would know?"
"Right!" My mother claps excitedly. "I haven't gotten one like you in decades!"
"What are you talking about?"
"A matchmaker!" She beams. "You see soul lights!"
To my mind comes that scarlet glow that enveloped Annabeth and Percy. "You mean that's a power?" I stammer. "That's a... a thing Aphrodite can do?"
"It's a blessing," she brushes my hair lovingly.
"I don't want it!" I whine. "My siblings do that all the time and they only cause trouble!"
"That's innocent fun," she starts to erase the bruises and scratches from my body. "This is a gift! To be a spokeswoman of love is..." My mom stops her speech and makes a face. "You think it's beneath you. Love is part of who you are, Arae."
I pout. "What's the use?"
"Soul lights show more than just compatibility. People can't hide their true nature from you."
I try to understand what she means. "So I can see... what, exactly?"
"Let's put it this way," Mother tilts her head pensively. "If you were to visit a chef's kitchen, you'd see him light up while he's cooking. If someone swears they care about something, but their skin remains the same, you'd know they're not being genuine."
"So I could discover who the traitor is?" I ask eagerly.
My mother frowns a little, but she nods. "You could."
If training is not enough, I have to prove I'm valuable in other ways.
"Mom, I'll make good use of this gift."
"I have no doubt," she sighs heavily. I get up to leave, but she speaks one last time. "I don't think my husband is unlovable, Ara. But he doesn't respect me, so I don't respect him."
I have nothing to say to that, but I do have a question. "Do you hate that I like his children better than some of my siblings?"
She laughs. "Why would I hate you for loving those who need it most?"
If Jason dies in the stupidest way possible, she'll go to the Underworld, drag him back to life, and kill him herself.
"It's no use, child," Hera tells Piper.
The girl is holding onto Jason desperately. The wolf house has been restored to its original gloomy looks, and luckily for Ara, the Nemean lion lives. He's licking his paws next to her.
"This is your fault," Thalia cries. "Do something!"
"Do not address me that way, girl. I am the queen—"
"Fix him!"
"I did warn him. I would never intentionally hurt the boy. He was to be my champion. I told them to close their eyes before I revealed my true form."
"Um... True form is bad, right?" Leo frowns. "So why did you do it?"
"I unleashed my power to help you, fool! I became pure energy so I could disintegrate the monsters, restore this place, and even save these miserable Hunters from the ice."
"But mortals can't look upon you in that form! You've killed him!" Thalia cries.
"That's what our prophecy meant," Leo pouts. "Death unleash, through Hera's rage. Come on, lady. You're a goddess. Do some voodoo magic on him! Bring him back."
"It doesn't work like that," Ara replies quietly. She remembers Bianca Di Angelo, how her ghost asked Nico to stop his attempts at resurrecting her.
"He's breathing!" Piper gasps.
"Impossible," Hera gets slightly closer. "I wish it were true, child, but no mortal has ever—"
"Jason! Listen to me. You can do this. Come back. You're going to be fine."
"Healing is not a power of Aphrodite," Hera tries to be the voice of reason, but reason can't reach a broken heart. "Even I cannot fix this, girl. His mortal spirit—"
"Jason," Piper's voice echoes in an unnatural way. "Wake up."
The boy opens his eyes abruptly, they're like Kronos's and for a moment Ara fears he's been possessed by an evil being, but then his eyes go back to normal, and he coughs. "What—what happened?"
"Impossible!" Hera steps back in shock.
Piper pulls Jason into a hug and squeezes him.
"Crushing me..." He chokes out.
"Sorry," she sniffs, hastily cleaning her face.
"How do you feel?" Thalia asks.
"Hot. Mouth is dry. And I saw something... really terrible."
"That was Hera. Her Majesty, the Loose Cannon."
"That's it, Thalia Grace! I will turn you into an aardvark, so help me—"
"Stop it, you two," Piper snaps.
Ara hits Jason. "Ouch!"
"That's for not closing your eyes!" She scolds him. "Don't you have any survival instincts at all?"
"I almost died and you're punching me?" He complains.
"I wouldn't punch you if you were smart! Leo almost died too but that wasn't his fault! And I'm not punching him, am I?"
"Heard that? I'm smarter than the lightning boy," Leo grins, but he holds his tongue after Ara glares at him.
"Now..." Piper speaks as they help Jason up. "Hera—Your Majesty—we couldn't have rescued you without the Hunters. And Thalia, you never would've seen Jason again—I wouldn't have met him—if it weren't for Hera. You two make nice, because we've got bigger problems."
After a moment of heavy silence, Thalia huffs. "You've got spirit, Piper. You ever want to be a Hunter, call me. We could use you." She places a card inside Piper's jacket.
"Fortunately for this Hunter, you have a point, daughter of Aphrodite," Hera crosses her arms. "You wondered, Piper, why I chose you for this quest, why I didn't reveal your secret in the beginning, even when I knew Enceladus was using you. I must admit, until this moment I was not sure. Something told me you would be vital to the quest. Now I see I was right. You're even stronger than I realized. And you are correct about the dangers to come. We must work together."
"Yeah," Leo sighs. "I don't suppose that Porphyrion guy just melted and died, huh?"
"No. By saving me, and saving this place, you prevented Gaea from waking. You have bought us some time. But Porphyrion has risen. He simply knew better than to stay here, especially since he has not yet regained his full power. Giants can only be killed by a combination of god and demigod, working together. Once you freed me—"
"He ran away. But to where?"
"Home," Ara scratches her lion's ear. "Where all of them were born the first time."
Hera stares at her. "Arae Jackson, when the Fates chose you none of us understood, but I'm starting to see through your disguise. Your resilience and wits are outstanding."
The girl seriously doubts that, considering she's the only one who looks like she's been run over by a truck and struggles with basic math.
After a second of silence, Thalia clears her throat. "I need to find Annabeth, she has to know what's happened here."
"Thalia..." Jason holds her hand. "We never got to talk about this place, or—"
"I know. I lost you here once. I don't want to leave you again. But we'll meet soon. I'll rendezvous with you back at Camp Half-Blood." She looks at the goddess. "You'll see them there safely? It's the least you can do."
"It's not your place to tell me—"
"Queen Hera," Piper presses.
"Fine. Yes. Just off with you, Hunter!" Hera scowls.
Thalia reaches Ara and she smirks. "Hit by lightning. What's next, bitten by a hellhound?"
"That already happened. Mrs. O'Leary mistook me for a chew toy," Ara grins. "What's next is to be drowned."
Thalia eyes the lion next to them and shakes her head. "I can't believe you're making me agree with Hera, but she's right. You really are the daughter of Olympus."
By the time the hunters leave, the moon is up in the sky. Ara looks around as she rubs her bad shoulder, and before she can ask, Piper does it for her.
"Jason, what happened to you here? I mean—I know your mom abandoned you here. But you said it was sacred ground for demigods. Why? What happened after you were on your own?"
"It's still murky. The wolves..."
"You were given a destiny," Hera reminds him. "You were given into my service."
"Because you forced my mom to do that," he frowns. "You couldn't stand knowing Zeus had two children with my mom. Knowing that he'd fallen for her twice. I was the price you demanded for leaving the rest of my family alone."
"It was the right choice for you as well, Jason. The second time your mother managed to snare Zeus's affections, it was because she imagined him in a different aspect—the aspect of Jupiter. Never before had this happened—two children, Greek and Roman, born into the same family. You had to be separated from Thalia. This is where all demigods of your kind start their journey."
"Of his kind?"
"She means Roman," Jason explains. "Demigods are left here. We meet the she-wolf goddess, Lupa, the same immortal wolf that raised Romulus and Remus."
"And if you are strong enough, you live," Hera concludes.
"But... What happened after that? I mean, Jason never made it to camp," Leo raises a brow.
"Not to Camp Half-Blood, no."
"You went somewhere else," Piper understands what they're implying. "That's where you've been all these years. Somewhere else for demigods—but where?"
"The memories are coming back, but not the location," Jason looks back to the goddess. "You're not going to tell me, are you?"
"No. That is part of your destiny, Jason. You must find your own way back. But when you do... you will unite two great powers. You will give us hope against the giants, and more importantly—against Gaea herself."
"You want us to help you, but you're holding back information."
"Giving you answers would make those answers invalid," Hera shrugs. "That is the way of the Fates. You must forge your own path for it to mean anything, Ara knows how true that is. Already, you four have surprised me. I would not have thought it possible..."
Ara stops rubbing her shoulder. If Roman demigods have to start their journey here, and Percy switched places with Jason...
"Enough of that, Jackson!" Hera exclaims, startling Ara. "Suffice to say, you have performed well, but this is only the beginning. Now you must return to Camp Half-Blood, where you will begin planning for the next phase."
Ara isn't interested in arguing with the goddess, so she points to the lion. "Can I keep him?"
Hera scrunches up her nose. "I suppose... your mother sent it because you cared for him like no one else—you know, Hercules would've—"
"But I'm not Heracles," Ara replies politely. "Thank you for letting me keep it, but he can't take all of us to camp in one night, so..."
"I suppose you destroyed my nice storm spirit horse too, so we'll have to walk home?" Jason adds.
"Storm spirits are creatures of chaos. I did not destroy that one, though I have no idea where he went, or whether you'll see him again. But there is an easier way home for you," Hera replies. "As you have done me a great service, so I can help you—at least this once. Farewell, demigods, for now."
Ara's body flickers oddly, she hears the lion growl, and then the screaming. Ara jumps off the table where she's standing and runs, shielding the creature with her body.
"WEAPONS DOWN!" She orders. "HE'S FRIENDLY!"
"Ara!?" Lily Saggio stands, eyes wide open.
Leo is the next one to jump off the table and run to a bronze brazier to puke. Ara grimaces, the gods won't like that smell floating around their throne room.
"Jason, Ara..." Chiron says in utter shock. "What—How—?"
"Hi," Piper speaks, and it's then that Ara realizes they materialized on top of Aphrodite's table. Her sister has one foot firmly planted on Drew's dinner. "We're back."
The crowd starts spitting out questions but none of them approaches Ara, she's still next to the Nemean lion, and she guesses he needs a friendlier name now.
"Silence!" Chiron exclaims. "Jason, Piper, get off the table—nymphs, give Leo a fresh glass of water—and Ara, that Nemean lion..." the centaur raises a brow. "Belongs to you?"
"Yeah," Ara pats his muzzle. "Hera said I could keep him."
Chiron settles everything so now the four can narrate their quest to the campers. They're terrified, so she's half expecting them to start chanting "Curse! Dishonor on your cows!" at any given moment.
"So you rescued Hera, sent Enceladus back to Tartarus, tamed the Nemean lion—and got clues about Percy's disappearance?" Lily recounts.
"Basically, yeah," Ara replies. "But—" Lily interrupts her with a hug.
"Let's hear it for our General!" Travis clamors.
The crowd erupts into cheers, and Ara blushes furiously at their reaction. It was all Piper, Leo, and Jason, she was there mostly for moral support! No one seems to care, though. She gets carried all the way to the Big House.
Ara's lost her new friends in the sea of people. The campers leave her on the porch, and Lily ushers everyone away.
"Let her rest..." Lily notices Ara's injured arm when she takes off her cloak. "Oh gods, what happened!?"
Ara sighs. "Lighting hit me, but I'm—"
"WHAT!"
"I'm fine!" Ara raises her voice but Lily's gone back into the crowd shouting Will's name. Ara lets out a weary chuckle. "Never listens..."
"That was quite a welcome."
Ara gives a start. Leo Valdez found his way back to her. "Hey! What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to talk to you—I mean, you, Jason, and Piper, but the campers took you away, and the others went to sleep as soon as the campers stopped paying attention—"
"I didn't want to steal the spotlight—gods, that sounds terrible. I'm so sorry," she rambles.
"Do you hear me complaining?" Leo smirks. "You deserve to be carried around like the legend you are, but we got work to do, so that's why I'm here."
Ara's skin glows when the boy moves a couple of steps forward. Now that they're safe, and she's got her answers, it's much harder to ignore how attracted to Leo she is. She thinks that if she's ever gonna get the chance to "shake off" the feelings before it's too late, that moment is now... and she's about to waste it.
"You think you can meet me in the forest? Tomorrow, after you're done with your General duties."
Ara's tongue isn't responding nearly as fast as she would like, having a crush was way more problematic than she'd anticipated. "'kay."
The boy smiles a little. "I think you'll love what I have to show you, might be the answer to our problems."
"What problems?"
Leo winks at her. "Sleep tight!"
Ara doesn't want the conversation to end, but Lily returns with a heavily concerned Will Solace by her side so she's forced to move on.
"Hit by lightning! What are you, a magnet for natural disasters?"
"Think so," she replies with genuine worry.

dp x dc fic idea
(Spoiler for Sandman Comics)
So this is a Danny Phantom x The Sandman crossover
Danny is King of the Infinite Realms
which is the dimension of the in-between, pocket gaps between different realities, where everything that ends begins again, etc.
Danny is one of Death of the Endless' favorite children though he is both her's and not her's at the same time
Anyways they have a working relationship because Danny rules over all who have been touched by the Lady Death and the Ghost Zone is kinda sorta where she takes everybody when they die
I'm going off the au that because it's the INFINITE realms, when people die they just go to whatever portion of the realms coincides with what they believe
also you know, not everyone becomes ghosts because there has to be enough ectoplasm when they died for them to form a ghost core and well not all ghosts ever lived
Morpheus dies (he planned it, in case you didn't know) and Daniel Hall becomes the next incarnation of Dream of the endless
I'm also gonna go out and say that Danny and Morpheus have met before because Nocturne is actually a conglomeration of all of Dream's nightmares that have died, by his hand or not
this is going off the assumption that everything in the world has a little ectoplasm, just usually miniscule amounts and that when anything meets its end the bits of ectoplasm it contains eventually makes its way to the Infinite Realms
so Nocturne is made of those multiple small bits of ectoplasm Dream's nightmares
and before Dream got characer development, the nightmares honestly did not have it the best which is why Nocturne was one of the more antagonistic/dangerous ghosts
but yeah so Danny knew Morpheus and they teamed up at some point because of Nocturne
I actually like the idea more that Danny was scolding Morpheus for his treatment of his Nightmares and the clear discrimination between Dreams and Nightmares and that if someone doesn't want to be a Nightmare they shouldn't have to choose between doing something they don't want to do or getting their existence ended (wow does Danny know how that feels)
and Morpheus recreated some of his creations like Corinthian but those are different incarnations, so kinda sorta the same being but also not
it doesn't matter, it doesn't erase what happened
Danny totally crashed Morpheus' castle somehow
Morpheus was definitely like, "You, a human child who once dreamt of nothing but the stars and now only has nightmares of a future that may come to pass (aka Dan, or getting dissected by his own parents, or the collapse of reality as we know it because humans found a way to break into the Ghost Zone and eradicate all the ghosts) would lecture me on the creatures that torment you? I am Lord Morpheus, Dream of the Endless, who has existed far longer than you could possibly comprehend, and you would dare?"
Danny I'm-too-tired-to-deal-with-another-godlike-entities-bullshit-again Fenton is like "Hey! I'm a half-dead child. Get it right. And you totally deserve this dude. I mean I finally had a talk with Nocturn after the Pariah Dark situation, which was not easy mind you, about his whole forcing people to sleep to absorb Dream Energy. His entire being is totally your fault. And your treatment of beings that you created from scratch who are essentially your children is terrible. My parent's are a constant danger to my very existence but at least I know they care about me unlike you and yours. And also...."
they totally became friends because Danny is that type of annoying that grows on you like a fungus and it helps that he's functionally immortal and has seen and experienced the worst of humanity (as well as other beings) and is the all-powerful Ghost King
anyways Danny goes to Morpheus' wake and as Lady Death, in her red dress, bids goodbye to her brother's body floating away into eternity to become one of the stars in the sky Phantom tells her
"Worry not, Mother of my core, I shall take him into my care just as I do all you have brought to my realm and one day, when you lay a final night's kiss upon this universe, you shall join us there until the time for a new Universe's dawn"
"...human child who once dreamt nothing but the stars..."
"Sleep well, my friend as you rest amongst the stars."

Is it just me? There's no way it's just me.
But the concept of Danny Phantom having Protection as his Core Obsession is NOT WOKE.
Let me elaborate, and I don't care who doesn't read it.
So... let me just say "Protection as Obsession" I love it. The plot device makes use the inhuman quality of Danny being half-ghost combine with his human decency.
But then I see a lot of fics starting to strech this concept as Angsty as possible which results to Danny suffering a symptom called "I must save people on a regular basis because of my compulsion" or "My core will hurt me and I'll suffer if I ignore a cry for help"
And immediately I'm like "Nopenopenopenope!" because that's not what makes Danny Fenton a hero.
Look, I get it. You want the angst. Heck, if the Phandom is a ghost, I'm pretty sure its obsession is Angst with a capital "A". That's how obsessive y'all are and I love you guys for it. And I also know the main core of the fic will always show that Danny is a True Hero.
Which is why I feel people are lost of what makes Danny Fenton a hero outside of the angst.
Which is the fact Danny choose to be a hero.
When Danny became a halfa, he hadn't realize it yet, but he was already acting like a hero before deciding to be one. In the first episode, and ectopuss was the first ghost he fought off screen, and considering his fast reaction, that might not have been the first ghost he fought.
In fact, considering Danny wasn't just hiding his Halfa status, but also the portal working and the existence of ghosts, he might have just been kicking ghosts back to the GZ way earlier but with the mindset of "HOLY CRAP I TURN TO GHOST! THERE ARE GHOST! MY PARENTS CAN'T KNOW THIS OR I MIGHT GET IN TROUBLE! I DON'T KNOW FOR WHAT BUT I WILL!"
The sort of teenage panic when you did something you weren't supposed to do and ended up trying to erase ALL the evidence.
I don't even think Danny knew he died. All he know was that he became something different that might cause him to be ostracise by his peers and family. He doesn't know how his condition might affect his future. He was 14 year old kid, and had a life-altering accident that would change how he live his life from that point forward and wasn't sure what to do with being able to go through walls, disappear, and fly.
Danny was 14 years old and was reasonable confused and scared for himself.
Him dying, was ironically, the last thing on his mind when he has living shit to do.
But then the Lunch Lady happen, and after facing the first sentient ghost, and at the end of the day finally had the revelation of "Hey, my powers aren't so bad and scary when I use them for a purpose, which is to help people." (Boy, is this boy dense. You've been doing that the whole time, Danny.)
Danny Fenton became a hero to feel good about himself. Danny Fenton became a hero to accept himself.
And I think that's such an important take away that a lot of fans miss, the fact that Danny Phantom is a persona for Danny to learn to be comfortable with all aspect of himself; whether it'd be his ghost abilities, his personality, his new-found responsibility, and identity. It's a self-discovery journey most teens finds him the most relatable, especially combine with a lot of episodes has Danny struggle to be accepted by the A-List before deciding he's better off being a better version of himself.
That's who Danny Phantom is.
So when fics degress his heroic actions into "obsession" that he has little control over, it makes Danny Phantom into a forced identity set by a younger version of himself to an older, jaded version of him that no longer being able to accept himself is awfully tragic to me.
Where am I going with this???
Oh yeah, so this is basically my rant for Obsession to be more flexible for a halfa so Danny can use the persona "Danny Phantom" as the best version of himself in more fics.
But that might be difficult with all the vivisiction-obsessed character out there, and you nutjobs (affectionately) running most of the fandom.

my adhd can't chill tf down enough to sleep so may i present this (uhhh spoilers for new-who):
Everything in Doctor Who that ought to be fixed and why:
Any time the doctor shows racism, queerphobia, sexism, ableism, classism, etc. Unless a specific prejudice of Gallifreyan society exists, it would never make sense for the Doctor to be bigoted, even the one from the '60s
Related: when Thirteen breaks the Master's perception filter so the nazis would see he's a man of color and thus endanger him—the Doctor would never.
Completely abandon former companions. Maybe some, maybe originally, but even 2000 years of lessons learned later? The Doctor is a good man, abandonment is too inconsistent with his characterization to be a reoccurring, unchallenged trait.
Wiping Donna's memory. Cruel, erased her character arc and was not a fulfilling or meaningful end. Either kill her or have her decide to retire.
The convoluted reason the Ponds were stuck in 1939 New York. C'mon, if I tried for five seconds I could come up with a sensical reason why the Doctor never saw them and they were stuck. Or just don't make them stuck 🤷🏼♀️ maybe they decide to adopt and retire to avoid danger to the kid but the Doctor and River still regularly visit.
The "War Doctor". Showrunners confirmed this only existed because Christopher Eccleston refused to come back for the 50th Special (no shade to his choice). It might've backfired or seemed disrespectful of Chris's performance, but they should've simply recast Nine for it.
Just throw out Kill the Moon, it was bad writing, the heavy-handed abortion allegory was exhausting and weird (regardless of intentionality) and I don't usually cry "but the science!" but...the moon being gone, even if soon after it replaced itself, would cause apocalyptic destruction on Earth and possibly wipe out humanity. The primary salvageable bit that I think is integral is the Twelve/Clara fight at the end.
Danny Pink either doesn't die or doesn't stay dead. The paradox it would cause for him to die before him and Clara have kids when her and Twelve have MET those descendants and been on two separate adventures down that family line is irreconcilable. Full stop.
Bill doesn't die. The end. (Do NOT bury your fucking gays)
Don't have Graham be the last white seat on the Rosa episode, for fucking christ's sake. Plus where the fuck is at least the mention of Claudette Colvin?
Fourteen regenerates into Thirteen's clothes, following well-established rules of regeneration (BBC were cowards for breaking that just to sidestep having David Tennant "crossdress")
Headcanon bits that aren't necessarily tied to quality/consistent writing but I think would've been great:
The Doctor does find Melody. Maybe only by age six or so, if wanting to keep the Silence story intact, but rework Let's Kill Hitler to avoid the Mel situation. It makes me sad that they never got their baby back. She can still turn out to be River, maybe the regen into River only happened post season-six, keeping the reveal. Maybe Melody was eventually re-kidnapped by the Silence and then turned into River Song, or maybe Melody was always a kind of troubled trouble-maker and took on the River Song alias on her own.
Thirteen and Yaz absolutely get together.
keep in mind I haven't finished Thirteen's run (the stink of neolib BS from the Rosa Parks episode tanked my interest in keeping up until Chibnall fucked off), haven't seen the 60th Special yet, still have 20-something seasons of Classic Who to go, and don't remember everything I have seen, nor am I always right. I think on re-watch I'd find more issues but for now it's the list I've got that exactly zero (0) people asked for.
#doctor who#my writer brain refuses to let go of any of these grudges#maybe now ill finally be able to fucking get some goddamn sleep

Today on TED Talk. . .
Written for DannyMay 2023 Day 9 Prompt: Ghost Zone Fandom: Danny Phantom Characters: Danny, Jack, Maddie, Minor Oc Words: 832 Summary: Danny has to write an essay for his Comm's class but can't think of what to write, lucky for him his parent's are always there with fresh ideas
“So you have to write an essay for Comms?” Parker asked at his desk on the other side of their shared dorm room.
“Yeah it can be about anything but the whole point is that we have to educate the reader on something,” Danny tapped his pencil, writing never was his forte.
“Why don’t you write about space?” Parker suggested.
“I did my last essay on space. I want to write about something I don’t think many people know about,” Danny pointed out.
“I’m sorry man I don’t know how to help you,” Parker shrugged.
“Yeah. . .maybe I should call my parents. See if they have any ideas,” Danny shrugged as he wiped out his phone, tapping his mom’s number, she was always the safer option.
“Hey, sweetie!” Maddie greeted happily.
“Hey, mom! I’m looking for an idea. We have to write an essay educating the reader about something and I want to do something not very well known. Got any ideas?” Danny swiveled around in his chair.
“Why not do one about ghosts?” she asked as if the answer was obvious.
“I thought about that, but it’s too vague. I would need to center on one point, not to mention there’s some information I just don’t want getting out,” Danny told her, happy that his roommate decided to put in headphones.
“Well, what could you educate your reader about ghosts that you think would help both parties? Their’s core’s?”
“Too worried the GIW will use it against us. Can’t be anything about what they're made of,” Danny was quick to shut down that idea.
“Why doesn’t Danny Boy does it on the Ghost Zone? He did say that it was a mirror dimension of ours,” Jack’s voice came through the phone as Danny’s eyes widened.
“Why didn’t I think of that? Dad, you’re a genius!” Danny smiled.
“Thank you, Danny. Do you want us to send you our research?” Jack asked.
“Send it to Tucker. He’ll be sure to erase any traces, in case someone might find something,” Danny told them as they agreed. They talked for a few more minutes about college and what Danny was doing before the call ended. They didn’t mind Danny being careful about sharing the information. The GIW has been a pain in his ass since highschool and it hasn’t stopped. It’s why he’s tried to be careful about using his powers.
“Looks like you have your essay idea,” Parker smirked his way as a ping came from Danny’s notifications.
“Yep it’s either going to get me an A or an F, we’ll just have to wait and see,” Danny smiled as he read through his parent’s research on the portal, mixed with his own. It took Danny three days of reading and two days of writing but he was able to get the paper turned in three hours before it was due.
A week later it was Danny’s turn to present to the class. Grabbing his printed-out essay he walked to the front and gave his whole speech flawlessly. To be fair if Danny had it his way he would have never taken this class, being used ot public speaking at this point thanks to his council, but it’s required.
“To simplify the Ghost Zone or Infinite Realms, is a mirror dimension towards our own. If one gets destroyed so will the other so it is right to assume that we should be protecting both, not one.” Danny finished his speech as his teacher looked at him in confusion.
“Mr. Fenton you were supposed to write a paper educating your class on something.”
“I did Mr. Smith. I have even provided research within my paper that has been approved. The Ghost Zone is real, most just miss out on the naturally occurring portals happening around them simply because they do not know to look for them,” Danny was ready to turn his essay about educating into a debate. He couldn’t hold back the protectiveness he felt for the Realms. It was going to be his domain. It is his home.
“I will review this research and if it is proved that it is indeed approved I will give you the grade you rightfully deserve,” Mr. Smith sighed as Danny let out a breath of relief. It was a lot harder to hold back the instincts of his ghost side than one would think.
“Thank you, Mr. Smith. If you would like I can also provide additional research that I did not use,” Danny assured him.
“No Mr. Fenton, just the research you provided in your essay will be enough,” his teacher sighed as he drank his coffee, clearly not wanting to deal with more of Danny than necessary.
Danny easily handed in his paper essay and sat back down in his chair, listening to the rest of his class give their essays, all giving him weird looks as they passed him, but Danny is easily able to shrug them off at this point.
#danny phantom#danny fenton#dannymay2023#dannymay#danny fenton is in college#danny is most definitely a little shit#college#college au

Iris always believed that whatever she put her mind towards, she should be able to succeed in it. Her mother thought of her to be dramatic but her father thought the world for her. Maybe her father did feed into her delusions, but he truly felt that she was able to conquer the world if he pushed her enough. He saw the hunger in her.
Now that same hunger was being used to see who could make more espresso martinis the quickest. Not that the diner and bar targeted the demographic of those in their early 20’s. Within just her first week of training, Iris was able to teach herself the in’s and out’s of the place, feeling she had to prove herself to the resident employees.
The first day was awful to say the least. Iris hadn’t done anything in particular to make it awful, but the passive comments made in her direction were enough to set her off. No one should have to prove themselves in an almost beaten down establishment, yet here she was. From riches to rags, Iris was never able to get rid of her competitive behavior. She wondered if her father would have laughed at her or with her. She was fine with the mystery of it.
“Done.” Iris spoke up. She looked over at Dan, who lingered behind her, almost done with his espresso martini. Trying to hide her knowing smile, she patiently waited for him to finish.
It was only 8:30 PM on a Thursday. Not many people were in town, but then again not many people came to this bar. With only a few customers lingering and the slow build up of what they called rush hour nearing, Dan and Iris found that a not so healthy competition was in place.
“Okay, I’m done too.” Dan spoke, pushing his glass next to Iris’s.
A heavy sigh escaped her lips. “Dan, that doesn’t look right-”
“Shut the fuck up and let Sherry taste test. Sherry!” Dan yelled into the kitchen window behind the bar. Out came Sherry wearing her typical maroon button up and bootleg pants, her auburn hair laying flat on her shoulders. Iris and Dan both stepped back allowing her to walk up to the two drinks.
You have to guess who made what.” Dan said.
Picking up the drink on the right, Sherry brought the glass to her lips and took a small sip. She couldn’t bring herself to swallow, and Iris could tell from the slight bulge of her eyes that she had won. Sherry grabbed the trash can under the counter and quickly spit out the drink.
“Iris won.” The older woman croaked.
“But you don’t know which one is whose.” Dan spoke.
“Iris won.” Sherry said again, still hovering over the trash can, which was followed by a giggle from the younger girl.
“You didn’t even try hers.” Dan pleaded.
“Iris won.” She firmly repeated.
“Oh come on, you are being dramatic.” Dan huffed as he picked his drink up and took a sip from it. He instantly realized his mistake and snatched the can from Sherry’s hand, spitting out any of the contents into the trash.
“Oh god it’s so grainy.” Dan croaked. At this point, Iris’s giggles died down as she cleaned up her area. Dan followed while chugging down a bottle of water to erase the aftertaste of a grainy espresso martini.
“You didn’t want to try it? Dan asked as he started clearing his station, preparing for the incoming customers that may or may not come.
“I like living in comfort Danny.” Iris said.
“No one has actually tried Iris’s espresso martini yet though. Who knows, maybe it doesn’t live up to the winning standard?” A voice came from the side of the bar. Both bartenders' ears perked at the mention of Iris’s name, not realizing they had an audience interested enough to view their juvenile actions. A man sat with a green baseball cap resting on his head. A thick hoodie embraced his silhouette, showing proof of the autumn gust that danced outside this late at night.
The girl simply smiled at the customer, huffing a small laugh to show courtesy. “I never lose.” Iris said, locking eyes with the man in front of her.
“She’s right, started last week and she's already becoming a customer favorite.” Dan faced the man, leaning back against the counter as he dried his now empty martini glass.
Iris put down the rag she used to clear off the counter and walked to the other end of the bar to grab her still untouched espresso martini, “Would you like to try it?” Iris asked, placing the glass in front of the man.
Staring down at it, his arms crossed on top of the counter. Looking up at the girl in front of him, he hesitated. Iris could see the pause in his motions and the gears turning in his head, not sure what he could be thinking about until Dan's voice came from behind. “Don’t worry she didn’t poison it.”
He looked back at Iris with a ludic smile gracing on his lips. “Promise?”
“Promise.”
The man let out a quiet chuckle and reached for the glass, not looking back at Iris again. But her eyes locked on the man in front of her.
The two waited patiently for the man's reaction, not sure why his reaction meant so much to them. Who knew a competition between two bartenders could become so tense; however, Iris knew. It was all she ever knew.
Her father would always remind her, always push her. She knew he loved her for it, and he could’ve been twisted because of it. Another mystery she was fine with being unsolved.
“Iris wins.” He spoke.
Her smile brightened and she wasn’t sure if it was because she won again or because his voice was gentle as it held her name. She wanted to hear it again.
She turned her head back to Dan with a gummy bear smile and a middle finger held out to him. Dan chuckled painfully and his head fell back as he walked away. “You stay on that side of the bar, I don't want to see your face till tomorrow.”
Iris laughed at his childish antics and looked back at the customer in front of her. He had almost finished most of the drink by now.
“Oh wow, you really liked it.” Iris was shocked to see the half empty glass.
“You’re a winner for a reason.” He said, tilting the drink a bit. Silence loomed over them as Iris continued cleaning her side of the counter while the man nursed the drink in his hands. It was odd seeing a man of his size and nature, holding a drink you would find on the rooftops of Manhattan.
The man pulled out his wallet from his pocket and said, “Here.” He slid over his card to Iris’s side of the counter but she gently placed her fingers on the plastic and slid it back over to him, slightly shaking her head.
“It’s on the house.” She said, moving over to the damp dishes that needed drying.
He pushed back the card. “Really, I insist. Think of it as a prize. For winning.” He spoke earnestly.
Iris simply shook her head again. “Maybe next time I’ll let you pay,” she said with a chuckle. She wasn’t sure why she didn’t want him to pay. Maybe it was out of the kindness of her heart. Or the fact that she was still riding on the high of winning over three different people in this stupid competition she summoned.
“Is this your way of asking me out on a date?” He questioned, tilting his head a bit. Iris wanted to laugh at him. “I guess I could ask you to buy me a drink first but you already are.”
“You’re a funny guy…” Iris trailed on at the end.
“Kyle,” he said.
“Kyle,” Iris finished. “But I’m not looking for anything right now. Maybe another time.”
Kyle nodded his head in understanding, looking down at his drink with a lost smile. He finished up the last sip of the drink, placing it back onto the counter.
“Oi! Gaz!” A loud voice came from the door. There stood a man with a thick Scottish accent wearing a jacket waving over the man in front of Iris. Behind him were two more men in similar attire, one wearing a bucket hat and another with a black ski mask.
Kyle, or Gaz, held a hand up, waving slightly at them then turning back to Iris. She grabbed the now empty martini glass in front of her and started clearing his area, assuming he was going to join his group.
“Maybe another time.” He smiled at her as he slowly got up from his seat. Just then, the Scottish man came up to Kyle and swung an arm around his shoulders, “Got a drink without us? Whatcha get?” This man's voice was loud, causing Iris to close her eyes from the noise.
Kyle looked at the Scottish man, who must have leaned his entire body weight onto him, as he fumbled out a few words. “Just a drink, you know.”
Iris stepped away from his area and looked at Kyle, whose eyes shifted back from the Scottish man, to the two men sitting at the booth, back to the girl standing in front of him.
“Have a good rest of your night,” Iris said and brought her attention to a customer a couple of seats over. But Kyle's eyes never left Iris’s, wishing his friend had just stayed put in the booth and waited.
“So whit did ye git, actually,” Iris heard the Scottish man's faint voice as he led the two back to the booth. His voice was loud enough to hear from across the room, even with the faint music and the lingering chatter amongst the room.
“Whit? I thoat ye hated coffee?”
