Idk of request are still opens, but if no you can just ignore this haha.
Sooo can you do an escenario of hua cheng x male!reader x xie lian where the reader was the best friend of xie lian before xian le fell and like with the power of character backstory they knew hua cheng aswell.
That was like the context, but my request is like:
After the 800 years of previous events, xie lian, hua cheng and the reader meet again at the banyue arc(with xie lian meeting hua cheng fisrt ofc) and when they saw the reader (who ill suppose died by saving xie lian from something and u know, โœจ๏ธdramaโœจ๏ธ) they can't belive it cus his soul should have been banished and welp. After the end of the thing (timeskip) when the reader tries to leave after helping em' with the mission, both xie lian and hua chen stop him from doing so. But why did M/N tried to leave as fast as possible? Hoho, well let's say he accidentaly inhaled a flowers scent wich had an strong afrodasic and didn't want to make a fool of himself in front of his dearest friends and tried to leave (failling miserably) and we all know both of our bois are so fricking touch starved at this point and here is where the smut makes it's presentation. (idk much about that so u can just wite it however you'd like, but reader should be the bottom oh yes hahah)
ik its a large request so if its too much just ignore me haha ๐Ÿ˜ญ.
A tender touch๐ŸŒบ
Xie Lian & Hua Cheng x m!reader
Warnings: nsfw, 18+, novel and donghua spoilers, little bit violence, breeding, m!sex
A/N: Iโ€™m not the best when it comes to smut, especially when itโ€™s threesome so warning, this is really cringe๐Ÿฅฒ but I hope you like it

The floor of the temple was icy, freezing, just like the atmosphere which surrounded them. Fear seeped through y/n, who was kneeling on the cold ground, before the altar of a temple on which Xie Lian was chained on. He didnโ€™t know if he was more afraid of the creature, the monster with white half crying-smiling mask or this thing hurting Xie Lian - his prince, his best friend, his beloved. The latter. In his hand, was the little ghostfire who tried to keep them out of the temple and warn them. y/n felt pity for it.
He bowed down, his forehead touching the ground. โ€˜โ€™Please. I beg you. Take me. Have mercy on His Highness. Whatever you plan to do, please take me instead of him.โ€™โ€™ y/n straightened himself a little and looked with teary eyes towards the white clothed creature, pleading, โ€˜โ€™I beg youโ€ฆ punish me for whatever he has done,โ€™โ€™ he whispered desperately. โ€˜โ€™Y/N! STOP IT! I FORBID YOU TO SAY ANOTHER WORD. YOU WILL NOT SACRIFICE YOURSELF FOR ME!โ€™โ€™ Xie Lian screamed. The creature laughed out loud, slowly moving towards yn, like a predator. โ€˜โ€™DONโ€™T YOU DARE TOUCH HIM, YOU FUCKER. LEAVE HIM OUT OF THIS.โ€™โ€™ The Crown Prince screamed but to no avail, the creature ignored him. y/n gulped as he got closer. โ€˜โ€™My my, are you a brave one,โ€™โ€™ he stopped right in front of him and crouched down to be on the same eye level, the little ghost still in his hand, โ€˜โ€™and so stupid. Willing to give your life for someone else's sins and choices.โ€™โ€™
y/n eyes widened slightly after the realization. He whispered to the mask in front of him, โ€˜โ€™kill me instead then.โ€™โ€™ The little fire started to glow even more, little sounds coming from it. โ€˜โ€™Oh I will. Letโ€™s see what face His Highness will make after it.โ€™โ€™ The next second Fang Xin pierced through y/n.
y/n looked at the ground, in shame and sadness. He didnโ€™t dare to look His Highness in the eyes, or even San Lang, who he knew was actually Hua Cheng. โ€˜โ€™I donโ€™t understandโ€ฆhow?โ€™โ€™ The Crown Prince was in shock, in disbelief. Xie Lian saw his best friend being killed in front of his eyes by White No-Face. Same as Xie Lian, Hua Cheng felt some kind of betrayal and hurt, he - being a little pitiful and weak ghostfire - also was in that temple and saw everything. If he really somehow survived, why didnโ€™t he come looking for His Highness? It has been 800 yearsโ€ฆ
โ€˜โ€™Tell me, how are you here? What happened to you?โ€™โ€™ Xie Lian asked, his earlier shock turning into a sadness. y/n looked at San Lang then Xie Lian. โ€˜โ€™Did you really think he would have let me die? That easily? My life was worse than hell, a constant torture after that night.โ€™โ€™ He looked away from them, towards the darkness of the cave. All hidden and locked up memories coming back to him. โ€˜โ€™He did that only to torment and manipulate you. And me.โ€™โ€™ Xie Lian let out a sight he realized he was holding. Hua Chengโ€™s eyes were full of sorrow. They looked at each other then back to y/n.
He looked at Xie Lian, โ€˜โ€™Iโ€™m sorry, Your Highness. After that, I didnโ€™t dare to show my face anymore. Not like the monster would have let me. I was afraid. I hated myself for I couldnโ€™t save you in the end. I blame myself till this day. You had to go through so much because I was too weak to protect you.โ€™โ€™ Hua Chengโ€™s dead heart warmed in that moment. After all, he felt the exact same way. He blamed himself for not protecting the two when they needed it the most. But he is here now, and he will protect them for eternity, from now on.
โ€˜โ€™Can you forgive me, Your Highness? I understand if you donโ€™t want to or-โ€™โ€™ Xie Lian gave a sad smile and moved closer to y/n. โ€˜โ€™There is nothing to forgive. You did nothing wrong. It was never your fault, it was White No-Face who did this. I just wish you hadn't been there. Iโ€™m sorry you had to go through this, because of me.โ€™โ€™ The prince leaned closer and hugged his former friend. It took the man by surprise but gladly accepted it. The warmth of his best friend being so foreign to him. He locked eyes with San Lang who looked at him with sadness. y/n gave him a sweet smile of reassurance, for which the Ghost King smiled back.
After that the three stuck together the whole mission. y/n and San Lang got to know each other more, surprisingly they clicked immediately. Hua Cheng and Xie Lian still didnโ€™t know how y/n survived that night. He wasnโ€™t a god, neither a ghost so what was he? But they understood that it was not their business if y/n didnโ€™t want to tell them.
Currently, everyone was looking for the Banyue Fern to use as an antidote for the scorpion-tailed snakeโ€™s venom. Unfortunately, y/n had strayed too far from the others. He realized it when he found flowers that shouldnโ€™t be growing in a desert. They were bright, colorful and smelled so nicely. They were tempting. They were so very familiarโ€ฆ
NO! The land of the tender! They were the tender flowers that contained strong aphrodisiacs. The moment he realized he backed off. Thank the heavens that these flowers didnโ€™t speak or he would have surely done something he couldnโ€™t even imagine. He ran back to the others, hoping that the aphrodisiac didnโ€™t make it to his system.
After all the hell was over and the mission completed, Earth Master Ming Yi and Wind Master Shi Qingxuan came to take Pei Xiu back to heaven realm. The gods exchanged a few words. Beside Hua Cheng, y/n felt ill. His body temperature had risen after the tender flowers. He was sweating and his knees felt weak. He holds one hand in front of his lower face to hide his reddened face and to seal his mouth. Hua Cheng turned to him, concerned, โ€˜โ€™y/n? Is everything alright? You seemโ€ฆ sick.โ€™โ€™ Only thing he could do was nod his head and turn away from him.
With every passing second he could feel more sweat forming on his skin, he wanted to let out sounds he thought he could never form. He felt a painful pulsing between his legs. Seeing Xie Lian and Hua Cheng next to him didnโ€™t help, it made it all worse. Slowly, he started to back off but Hua Cheng grabbed his forearm before he could escape. Xie Lian walked over to them. โ€˜โ€™y/n, whatโ€™s wrong?โ€™โ€™ He walked to him and put his palm on his forehead to feel his temperature. โ€˜โ€™You are burning! You must have a fewer.โ€™โ€™ Feeling his princeโ€™s touch he put his hand over his mouth even harder. He let out weird noises that neither of the two understood. y/n shook his head. โ€˜โ€™Gege, we have to get him somewhere else. I donโ€™t think itโ€™s sickness.โ€™โ€™
The two brought y/n to an old empty house of Banyue. They put him on the floor, making him sit against a wall. Only sound that was heard was y/nโ€™s constant breathing. With shaky hands he tried to open his robe. โ€˜โ€™Y-you twoโ€ฆ you h-have to leave.โ€™โ€™ Xie Lian was first to react. He crouched down in front of him, โ€˜โ€™we will not. Tell us what happened?โ€™โ€™
He helped y/n and tore the robeโ€™s front open so he could get some cold air. His fingers brushed against y/nโ€™s hot skin which made him let out a little whine. Xie Lianโ€™s breath stuck, but he didnโ€™t back off. โ€˜โ€™T-the flowers, t-tenderโ€ฆโ€™โ€™ the arousal he felt made it hard to talk. San Lang came next to Xie Lian and put his hand on y/nโ€™s chest, feeling his fast heartbeat. y/n wrapped his fingers around San Langโ€™s wrist, not wanting him to pull away.
โ€˜โ€™Thatโ€™s what I thought,โ€™โ€™ Hua Cheng whispered, mostly to himself. โ€˜โ€™Pleaseโ€ฆโ€™โ€™ y/nโ€™s other hand made it to his hard erection. His hand was quickly replaced with Xie Lianโ€™s, โ€˜โ€™you helped us today so well, itโ€™s only fair if we help you now.โ€™โ€™ The prince and the Ghost King gave a knowing smile to each other. Hua Cheng tore the whole robe to shreds, freeing the whole body beneath it free to the cold air of Banyue. Xie Lian leaned in and kissed his old friend, his- no- their beloved.
His tongue taking the lead and exploring every corner he could find. His fingers ran delicately over y/n soft pink nipples. The man didnโ€™t see the point to hold back anymore and let out all the sounds that were stuck in his throat. Hua Cheng also leaned closer and wrapped his fingers around y/nโ€™s precum leaking cock. He slightly pressed on to the pink tip which made y/n whine against Xie Lianโ€™s mouth.
โ€˜โ€™Donโ€™t worry, love. We will take good care of you,โ€™โ€™ whispered Hua Cheng. Xie Lian leaned back, a string of saliva connecting the two. โ€˜โ€™Have I ever told you how beautiful you are, y/n?โ€™โ€™ Xie Lian said while taking off his white robe. Hua Cheng followed and his red clothing was thrown somewhere he could care less. This time Xie Lian took y/n's pulsing cock and started slowly moving his hand up and down. San Lang latched his mouth onto y/nโ€™s sensitive nipple, kissing and teasing it. y/n moaned their names, feeling himself nearing. โ€˜โ€™X-Xie Lianโ€ฆnghh San L-Lang, Iโ€™m g-gonna cum.โ€™โ€™ Xie Lianโ€™s other hand played with y/nโ€™s smooth hair, โ€™โ€™cum for us, dear.โ€™โ€™ He came without a second thought.
The Crown Prince gave him a sweet, loving smile, pecked his darlingโ€™s soft lips and started moving towards his abdomen, leaving butterfly kisses behind. He took all of y/n in his mouth, swallowing his cum in the process. With his experience in sword swallowing in the past it wasnโ€™t very hard. He had no gag reflex.
While Xie Lian was busy with y/nโ€™s cock, San Lang used his own precum and saliva as a lube and smeared it on his own hard cock. y/n felt his second orgasm coming. In ecstasy he grabbed Xie Lianโ€™s hair, not wanting him to pull away. โ€˜โ€™Y-your Highnessโ€ฆmm,โ€™โ€™ The prince started to run his fingers gently across y/nโ€™s body. Being so hot, bothered and sensitive, this act threw him over the edge again and he came deep into Xie Lianโ€™s mouth. โ€˜โ€™Xie Lianโ€ฆโ€™โ€™ he breathed out a whisper, barely hearable. โ€˜โ€™Such a good boy, arenโ€™t you? So good for us,โ€™โ€™ Hua Cheng teased with his low voice. The man beneath let out a desperate whine, knowing whatโ€™s coming next. The black haired king leaned closer, giving him a gentle kiss on his forehead and lips. โ€˜โ€™Iโ€™ll try to be gentle.โ€™โ€™ Xie Lian went to y/nโ€™s neck and started to suck marks into his skin.
San Lang positioned himself in front of y/nโ€™s unprepared entrance and slowly entered. Feeling soft and thigh walls around him he let out a grunt, entering inch by inch. y/n let out loud cries from the pain. Tears started to drip down from the corners of his eyes. Xie Lian shushed him, assuring that everything was alright. He kissed the tears away and started to abuse his mouth with his tongue again. When Hua Cheng was finally all in, and confirmed that y/n wasnโ€™t uncomfortable anymore, he started moving his hips. At the beginning it was slow and gentle, as time went by he started to speed up. Rocking in and out like an animal in heat.
He pulled y/nโ€™s legs more towards him to hit that one spot that surely made his darling lose it. y/n grabbed onto Xie Lian to steady himself. โ€˜โ€™Gods y/nโ€ฆโ€™โ€™ San Lang moaned, feeling his peak coming. He pressed y/n into a mating position, to look him into his beautiful tear stained eyes while he cums deep into his gore. y/n screamed, feeling overstimulated. โ€˜โ€™S-San L-Langโ€ฆ p-please,โ€™โ€™ with a few more pumps he came inside.
After a few moments he pulled out, panting. Feeling himself coming down from his high. He watched how some of his seed tried to come out of y/n. He pushed it back inside with his fingers, smiling, feeling some kind of pride. โ€˜โ€™You are so beautiful like this. Now my belovedโ€ฆโ€™โ€™ Xie Lian moved away from his side and placed himself on top of y/n. He already knew that it was going to be a long night.

Resurrection and Reunion
Tumblr media
I wrote this fic detailing HuaLianโ€™s smutty reunion at the end of the novel after being separated for a year (when Hua Cheng died for the third time). I wanted more details, and also wanted to show more of the world through Hua Chengโ€™s eyes, including what he believes and how he got there. (In other words, there will be smut, a hint of angst, and plenty of feels :D ).
Starts when Hua Cheng returns and is lighting lanterns on top of Mount Taicang. Here's a snippet:
He searches his faceโ€”the soft, princely countenance, the warm, tender eyes. Itโ€™s the face that has been with him all along, keeping him company as he passed in and out of existence, like a far off vision that changes depending on the light.
And now, he is really here.ย
He feels himself take a step forward.
The movement seems to shake Xie Lian out of his trance, and he quickly jolts to his feet, scrambling down from the cart. Hua Cheng takes another step, and then another, realizing too late that he is running, sprinting down toward him. But he sees Xie Lian is running too, and suddenly he has folded him in his arms, pressing him tightly against his chest. Slowly, he reaches up, cradling the soft contour of the back of his head. โ€œGege,โ€ he whispers.

Bottom Lan Wangji is such an interesting flavor to me. He is the perfect mix of horny and also ashamed of the fact that he is horny.
I just imagine Wei Wuxian forcing him to tell him exactly what he wants to have done to him. It might take a spanking to get all the details, but afterwards Wei Wuxian would definitely deliver it exactly as he needs it (and maybe add some ideas of his own ๐Ÿ˜).

Chapter 47
They searched around the hotel with flashlights until the early hours of the morning before going back to bed. A-Yan still didn't give up but was dragged back by Yin Zhou. For safety, the little Daoist priest put talismans on the doors and windows. Lin Yan was afraid of Xiao Yu would be unable to bear the ghost-suppressing charm and insisted on not putting them up. He sat on the edge of the bed with his slippers and looked over them, unable to figure out why.
"From now on, don't go anywhere alone, even in your dreams." Xiao Yu said thoughtfully, "Remember what you said."
"What I said?"
Xiao Yu stared out the window at the outline of the rolling hills and said softly: "Don't stray too far from me, no matter what. Trust me."
The rotten face in the nightmare flashed across his mind. Lin Yan couldn't help shuddering. He glanced at Xiao Yu quickly and nodded.
The wind blew even harder, like blowing a sharp and loud whistle. Lin Yan lay on the bed and recalled the dream he had experienced from the beginning. A sudden detail made him grow cold. Did he really never leave the house? The fright made him move towards Xiao Yu's side. Xiao Yu took advantage of the situation and hugged his waist. He said lightly: "Go to sleep. We'll find out tomorrow when we take a trip along the road."
The night was silent, each with a heavy heart.
The next day was actually rare good weather. The sky was blue, the clouds were very white, and the poplar trees on the roadside were blown by the wind, making a rustling sound.
The small restaurant on the first floor of the hotel set up a breakfast stall and was already open for business. The girl moved quickly, scooping doughnuts out of the pot. Lin Yan asked her about the traffic conditions nearby. There was only one bus in town but it didn't go in the direction of the tomb. The mountain road was difficult to travel. After breakfast, they intercepted an ox cart on the side of the road and sat in the carriage to drive to the ancient tomb.
The dew in the morning hadn't dried yet. The empty mountains were still. The cuckoo's cry rang out. The morning fog was drifting in the sun, like a softly hanging mantle of milky white yarn. Persimmon and pine trees loomed in the mist, and the air was slightly cool.
"It's a nice place." Yin Zhou praised. "It wouldn't be a waste of time to have a few days of relaxation."
The driver, wearing a white cloth jacket, said loudly while driving the ox: "You children really are so playful. We're known for our good view here, but unfortunately, the place is a bit off."
"The road isn't very flat, sit tight." As soon as he finished speaking, the ox cart drove through a big pit. The three of them weren't mentally prepared and almost fell. Yin Zhou covered his ass, and the driver laughed heartily.
A-Yan had been staring into the distance in a daze. At this time, he also let out a rare smile. Lin Yan took out a bottle of mineral water and handed it to him, consoling him: "Don't worry. Now that your master has appeared, at least we can be sure that what he's doing is related to us. Sooner or later we'll run into each other again.
The little Daoist held his schoolbag tightly: "I-I'm afraid something has happened to Master. . ."
Lin Yan shook his head: "Don't listen to A-Zhou trying to scare us. Although we stayed on the second floor last night, the roof isn't high up. There are connected bungalows all around. It's easy to climb up."
"Let's worry about ourselves for now."
A-Yan heard the weariness in his words and didn't say anything.
The ox cart squeaked slowly and turned onto a gravel-paved dirt road. The road was narrow and bumpy. The branches on the date palm trees on both sides of the road were hanging very low. From time to time, they had to bend over to avoid them. The stone bridges and brick houses disappeared. There are green hills and heavy greenery everywhere. The mountains were surrounded by a natural echo field, and the birdsong was extraordinarily clear and melodious.
The driver put his straw hat on his head and hummed an unknown tune leisurely in a high-pitched and desolate voice.
The ancient tomb was much easier to find than expected. The cattle car rounded a lake and a half-completed parking lot came into view, filled with flatbed trucks carrying sand, gravel and bricks.
After walking for a while, the cart stopped at a square that had just been repaired. At the end, a triple-arched stone pagoda leads to the tomb road. The stone steps were made of green stone, and stone horse sculptures were placed on both sides at regular intervals. The stonemasons were clanking away at the stones. On the ground were piles of Chinese roses that had been cut, and the florist was arranging them in pots for the flower bed.
Surrounded by mountains, the stone steps were lined with ancient trees, crowding the middle of the tomb walkway, which is particularly dark and deep. It seemed as though there was no sunlight all year round.
"It's inconvenient to get back to town from here. How long will you children play around here? I'll wait for you at the entrance." The driver was very simple.
"No, no, I can't tell what time it'll be. We'll find another way when we go back." Lin Yan paid him while rubbing his ass, which had been through a terrible ordeal.
The driver was very repulsed by the development of the tourist area. He spat on the ground and cursed: "You must go back before dark. This place is inauspicious." He shook his head and said, "To make money without a clear conscience, this isn't a place to play around!"
They all got out of the car and stood in a row under the archway.
A-Yan touched the stone pillar and said to herself, "It's only been two months since it was built, and the moss is already so thick."
"It's quite imposing. . . Why does it feel so different from the tombs we've travelled to before?" Yin Zhou folded his arms and rubbed the goosebumps on his arms. "Do you guys think the temperature has dropped? It's especially cold and eerie around here."
"Remember the Ming Tombs*?" Lin Yan said softly. "Ming people were very particular about Feng Shui when building tombs, and they often spent years choosing auspicious soils. Taking the Ming Tombs as an example, Yongshou Mountain is surrounded by three sides: east, west, and north. The north side surrounds a small basin. The mausoleum area was built at the foot of the mountain, facing south, with a river in front of it and backed by green mountains, overlooking the south plain from a high place, with a wide view.โ€
*(T/N: ๆ˜Žๅไธ‰้™ต - mausoleum park of the Ming emperors in Changping district of Beijing)
"You see what's different about this one?"
Yin Zhou pulled out a long-sleeved shirt and put it on. He hissed and complained: "This isn't a wide view. It was suffocating to get through the mountain pass. It felt like I won't see the sun for 800 years and would freeze to death."
"Hey, this mountain is in the wrong direction, why is it in the south? And we passed a lake just now. . ."
Lin Yan said coldly: "It's all reversed. The mountains are in the south, the water is in the north, and the stagnant lake is half-moon-shaped, like a bow enclosing a mausoleum. It's hard for the people who chose the site to find a greater place of such evil."
Yin Zhou wondered: "That's true, but what's the point of making it like this?"
"The location of the house where people live and the placement of furniture is all about Feng Shui. For example, the kitchen is like a knife, and the southwest is the dominant male area. The kitchen is built in the southwest corner of the house, which is not good for the dominant male, making him prone to dark diseases. Another example is the southeast area for the eldest female position. If a man lives in the southeast, the trigram is called the Sky Wind interaction and means he will have an affair. This is the feng shui used by living people." Lin Yan frowned.
"The mausoleum where the dead live has even more feng shui precautions. The mausoleum is unlucky, and the deceased can't sleep peacefully or even be reincarnated."
The little Daoist priest nodded: "Yes, an official in the M-Ming Dynasty offended the emperor so the emperor paved his tomb with red nitrate and vermilion. The coffin was buried at noon, forming an artificial 'sea of hellfire'. The soul of the deceased suffered the pain of fire and exposure day after day. It is said that the descendants dug out his corpse, and the bones were charred and carbonized. It's extremely tragic.โ€
"The m-mausoleum is about the balance of yin and yang. The place where the official is buried is the Yang. and here is the most yin. The gathering resentment can be used to raise a corpse. The dead are frozen like needles, let alone reincarnation. The opening hour is inauspicious. It's going to be haunted by zombies." The young Daoist priest put his hand on the pergola and squinted towards the towering Zhongtiao Mountain: "The dead won't resist. This is a man-made hell, and the method is very ruthless."
"I wonder how he got through it." Lin Yan pursed his lower lip. "The resentment is still accumulating. No wonder the evil spirits are haunted."
The three walked up the stone steps along the sacred path, passing by the shirtless workers from time to time with white towels on their shoulders. The workers, who rarely saw outsiders, picked up their loads and gave them a curious glance.
Yin Zhou and the little Daoist priest walked in front, and Lin Yan followed behind. The place was a different place from the grassy, forlorn place he remembered. The roar of the cement machine resounded everywhere. In time, more people will come here, vacationing, travelling, children holding the hands of adults, jumping around the coffin, and the gatehouse will sell pamphlets with every artifact unearthed from the grave. What he loved and used during his life will be placed in a glass case for viewing, never to belong to him again.
He didn't know where Xiao Yu's home was. Probably for ghosts, the grave was the only home where they could sleep in peace.
"Sorry, it's like this." Lin Yan whispered to Xiao Yu.
The ghost didn't answer. He looked at him deeply, lifted the hem of his clothes, and walked forward with great strides.
The ancient pathway was a long way to a past life that he could not remember.
Lin Yan looked at Xiao Yu's back and recalled the internship a few months ago with a little warmth. The place where they first met and the story began, the mine lights were brightly lit, the empty crypt was alone, and the good gentleman in white was watching him quietly not far away, his eyes falling, following him to look at the moon again after five hundred years. The world had changed, and there was only one person he could rely on.
More than ever, he wanted to be by his side, say a nice greeting, say that he liked him. Lin Yan walked a few steps closer but the ghost was odd. His body exuded a strange cold aura. His eyes were also extraordinarily cold, and his hands seemed like they were wrapped in porcelain. His knuckle cracked when his fingers curled up, like a walking skeleton.
Lin Yan wanted to chase him, but when he passed A-Yan, the little Daoist held him and shook his head.
"This is his territory, let's be careful." A-Yan's voice was very low. "D-Don't forget that he's a ghost."
"It's all the same to me."
A-Yan hummed contemptuously: "The location of this tomb is strange. In case he seeks revenge for what happened in his life, for his untimely death, don't blame me for not having warned you."
The stone steps turned straight down after reaching a high point, leading to a square and dark entrance. At the door, a temporary row of bungalows was set up with triple plywood. The entrance was open and a middle-aged man with a black and yellow face flashed out, and he saw the three of them from a distance. Lin Yan came forward to exchange pleasantries, and the middle-aged man immediately showed a warm smile after hearing that he was a student of Professor Chen. Then he went back to the house to get a set of keys and took the three of them in stride towards the tomb passage.
Entering the entrance, the surroundings suddenly darkened, leaving only the dim yellow light of the mineral lamps on both sides.
The tomb passage was located on the central axis of the ancient tomb. The stone walls on both sides and the ceiling were made of green bricks, which were extremely strong. The ancient tomb was very deep. The further down the corridor, the colder and more biting the air felt. The stone corridor was poorly ventilated. There was a musty and pungent stench. A straight ladder was installed deep in the corridor, which can bypass the second half of the tomb passage and go directly down to the bottom of the mausoleum.
The person in charge led the three of them inside and explained the progress of the construction of the museum. Lin Yan didn't listen very carefully but felt that the surrounding echoes were very loud, and every word he said was buzzing.
The ladder led directly to the main hall, which was very different from the previous one. The rotten wooden figurines and broken jade materials had been cleaned up. The hall was brightly lit. A circle of glass display cabinets were built against the wall. Illuminated by small yellow and orange spotlights, parts of porcelain jade and other burial objects were placed into the display case. Seven or eight cultural relics maintenance personnel in the middle of the main hall were wearing white gloves and were carefully working on the ground.
The person in charge greeted each of them and took a bunch of keys off of his waist: "Here we are. I've opened this room now. What should we see first?"
Lin Yan glanced at the location of the main tomb, where a new security door was installed, and the door was tightly closed.
"Can't we see the burial chamber?"
The person in charge smiled kindly: "Not now. As you saw when you arrived, the location of the tomb is contrary to the burial scriptures. It's rare that the corpse and coffin have not been damaged by grave robbers after so many years. For fear of exposing the corpse to excessive air, the bones have been sealed up. Until experts arrive to further measure physique, gender, age and paleopathology, we don't have the right equipment." He pointed to the sensors piled up on the ground. "This tomb is extremely valuable for studying the status quo of ancient life. No wonder the professor asked you to come and study."
"After a while, you may take samples and bring them back to the laboratory for research. If you want to see them, wait a few more days."
Lin Yan was horrified as he imagined a scene where they took Xiao Yu's thigh bone away.
After walking around in the front hall, Lin Yan and Yin Zhou lowered their voices to discuss their options. He was a little anxious. With that ghost's temper, he was afraid that, if someone moved his coffin, they would be killed. However, the two discussed with the person in charge for a long time. The middle-aged man just spread his hands, indicating that it was the idea of โ€‹โ€‹the superiors, and there was nothing he could do about it. He didn't have the key to the main tomb, and it was even more impossible for Lin Yan to get close to the corpse. On the other hand, the little Daoist priest had been checking the security door carefully, and while the person in charge was away, he quietly approached Lin Yan and said in a low voice, "I can open this door."
"B-Besides exorcism, Master has taught me other things." A-Yan raised the corner of his mouth proudly. "I never thought I'd have a use for it one day."
"You know how to pick locks?" Lin Yan said in amazement.
"D-Daoism is used in Fengshui tombs, and opening various doors is a craft handed down from the ancestors."
Lin Yan thought about it for a while, then dragged Yin Zhou and looked around the surrounding situation: "Comrade Technology Emperor, your chance has come. Can the electronic anti-theft alarm system here be disarmed?"
Yin Zhou narrowed his eyes and looked at the alarm with the small red light on the wall. He snapped his fingers: "No problem, just remove it. . ."
He spoke too loudly and had his foot stomped by Lin Yan. It hurt.
The person in charge turned his head, and the three stood side by side, smiling with infinite innocence.
Actually, Lin Yan squeezed through his teeth: "Where are the night clothes you brought?"
"Commonly used and often available. There's no harm in being prepared." Yin Zhou blinked hard.

danmei list that no one asked for (long post incoming)
ok so I've accumulated a pretty decent list of danmei that aren't as well known and I want to talk about them!! so here we go! these aren't in any particular order btw
Nan Chan
an aloof, listless immortal and a very hungry caterpillar fish demon go on an adventure to retrieve a runaway bell ๐Ÿ””. and also they both have amnesia. CUE ANGSTY BACKSTORY REVEAL!!!! ๐Ÿ”ช๐Ÿ”ช๐Ÿ”ช
I'm sure it's to no ones surprise that this is first because I'm a SLUT for nan chan. if nan chan has one fan it is ME and if there r no fans I am DEAD!! I love this novel so much it has the perfect combination of painful angst and sweet sweet lovin' !! the main couple's relationship makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘ˆ (probably because I am a touch love language girly and these bitches be touching!!!) and I LOVE the characters sm. especially my little meow meow Jing Lin and his adorable little stone figure. I live for the interactions between Cang Ji and the stone figure! it may be a little difficult to read the first time around since the plot gets a little convoluted but it all makes sense in the end! 10/10 really recommend!!
How to Survive as a Villain
transmigration plot! rich ceo gets transported to a novel as the villain emperor and gets buddy buddy with the novel's MC so he doesn't get killed. ends up buddying too close to the sun and accidentally becomes the leading lady. drama ensues!
this is another favorite of mine!! this one is another good mix of angst and romance and the MC is so funny and likeable. there are also two cute side couples which is always fun! (one of them is f/f so it gets extra brownie points with me๐Ÿคญ) its also not too complicated which makes it great for casual reading ^^ p.s. this one has an official eng tl now! its being published thru rosmei (like nanchan) so it has to be ordered thru a 3rd party distributor but I think its worth reading ๐Ÿ‘€
Living to Suffer/ Till Death Do Us Part
living to suffer: ancient wuxia style prequel where the characters meet as a humble doctor and member of a demonic sect and their fate intertwines. this one has a BE
till death do us part: early to mid 1900s setting sequel. the reincarnated characters meet again as a elementary school teacher and rich playboy and face the struggles of having a relationship. this one has a bittersweet ending
THIS...... OK THESE NOVELS... let me tell you something. this made me SOB. oh my god especially the ending of TDDUP. I saw a review saying "I honestly could believe there lived a Shen Liangsheng and a Ch'in Ching, and that they fell in love..." and hard agree because something about this story felt so real?? which made it all the more intriguing and heartbreaking!! its set around the time of the japanese invasion of china and the cultural revolution so it does talk a lot about politics but it wasn't a difficult read imo. BUT BE WARNED! there is a LOT of smut. (not rly vanilla either..) and the relationship does get pretty toxic at times ๐Ÿ˜ฌ but it gets better by the end of the book and the toxicity actually does add to the story and character development. if u give it a try please read the prequel (living to suffer) first!
After Being Forced to Marry the Evil Star General
a deputy prime minister MC who's powerful, high-maintenance, and hated by the public is arranged to marry a laid-back general who is much loved and praised (but also rumored to be cursed!). this is an arranged marriage + enemies to lovers novel
I'm actually in the middle of rereading this one rn ๐Ÿ‘€. I think this one is also good for casual reading since it isn't very complicated. in the beginning the interactions between the main couple r rly funny because they just clash all day long lol. its also got a little angst sprinkled in ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘ I did see some reviews saying that the MC is not likeable since he does some kinda bad things and he's stuck up but I still liked him idk ๐Ÿ˜ญ I feel like his flaws made him more interesting
Married Thrice to Salted Fish
a doctor MC who only wishes to study medicine (and poison oop) gets arranged to marry a guy whos dying. turns out that guy has been taken over by a transmigrator! transmigrator ML then proceeds to die and come back as someone else.. more than once ๐Ÿ˜ญ
if you love a couple that schemes together then this is the novel for you! the MC in this book kinda reminds me of the MC from the book I mentioned right above. (these titles too long man ๐Ÿ˜…) I found the repeated "reincarnation" plot to be pretty interesting. the interactions between the couple were pretty amusing as well and since the ML is from modern times he randomly uses modern slang. MC even picks some lingo up from him loll
Xiao Jiu
about a 9th prince MC whos trying to win the heart of the emperor's cold and aloof bodyguard! call him the prince of rizz because it works eventually ๐Ÿ˜Ž this is an age gap romance with a smidge of angst and political drama
this a short and sweet story! the ML is described as cold a lot but he actually becomes rly sweet and warm later on so he isn't one of those stone faced characters. I don't have much else to say about this besides "its cute, I like it" ๐Ÿ˜…
Guanshan Muyu
wife-chasing crematorium story! it's about a outlaw MC who's kidnapped by the very guy who betrayed him. ML wants to win MC's heart back but issues from the past cause a bunch of misunderstandings :( but it is a happy ending!!
man.... I haven't read a wife-chasing crematorium story before this and I was not prepared for the amount of ANGST. basically everyone is miserable for the entire damn time! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ but that's not to say it wasn't a good story!! all the suffering made the ending feel even sweeter ๐Ÿฅฐ if you cry easily maybe keep a pack of tissues on hand when you read this ๐Ÿ˜‚
I wrote this in my notes app while reading and I feel like it summarizes the ML pretty well bahaha ๐Ÿ‘‡
"qi yan: my girl is mad at me. I hope I die"
Itโ€™s Not Easy Being a Master
transmigrator becomes the villainous shizun in a novel he read and attempts to avoid a bad ending but *gasp* the novels MC (ML) has been reborn with all the past memories!! MC tries to get close to ML while ML is like wtf is going on ! seems like a typical "transmigrated as a villain" type plot until suddenly it's not... ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€
this one was rly fun! there's a big plot twist that I found rly interesting and unique! very fresh!! fresh produce!! ๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿซ‘๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿ… I also like the MC a lot he had a rly silly personality hehe. I think this novel is good for people who like solving mysteries alongside the characters since a lot of hints are dropped throughout
Golden Stage/ Terrace
arranged marriage between a court dog and a general who's become phsyically disabled. everyone knows that the two HATE each other... but do they really? ๐Ÿ‘€ no, it's not an enemies to lovers, but the other characters seem to think so! ๐Ÿคญ
great novel!! very good!! I love the dynamic between the main couple! they love to banter so their interactions are entertaining. there's a bit of political plot but it's nothing too complicated and the angst is minimal. I also like that one of the main characters is a ambulatory wheelchair user. this one also has a official eng tl now but I'm not sure from which publishing house
Sharing Rain and Dew
MC whos staying in the palace dies a painful death but then gets reborn several months in the past. he spends his time stressing about his impending death but for some reason the Emperor has suddenly become super clingy and doting
this one is very very short, only 5 chapters + 3 extras, but it's quite funny and cute. despite being so short the story is actually pretty interesting? good for a quick, casual read
list over!! I have a few more but this is already too long of a post ๐Ÿ˜ญ I hope someone can find this helpful for some reading recs!

Chapter 49
The scene made Lin Yan feel extremely warm. Even though he had never seen Xiao Yu's diplomatic actions toward other humans other than going straight to strangling, just as he was about to step up to relieve him, the ghost narrowed his eyes and extended his hand towards Yin Zhou, following the etiquette of today's people: "Hello."
Even though at such a far distance, the softness in his expression and tone of voice only reminded Lin Yan of one thing. It was like a spring breeze.
Lin Yan scolded the hypocrisy in his heart with a clenched jaw. This scene suddenly felt very familiar. He recalled for a while, the first time Weiwei took him to meet her best friend, he did the same, showing a polite smile, ahead of schedule. He opened the door and paid the bill, the model human being.
All men who met their wife's friends probably had this kind of virtue. He unconsciously raised the corners of his mouth, smiling foolishly. The little Taoist gave him a deep look. Lin Yan was startled and turned his head to cover it up.
The ghost's cuffs were embroidered with cloud patterns with silver thread, and he raised his hand to reveal a wrist as green and white as jade.
This time it was Yin Zhou's turn to be nervous. After hesitating for a while, he lightly squeezed Xiao Yu's hand. When he retracted his hand, Lin Yan heard a "hah" sound, and he was relieved.
Lin Yan smoked in the tomb passage. Yin Zhou chased after him, shaking his hand in disbelief in front of him, and said in surprise, "The ghost just shook my hand. . ."
"How did it feel?" Lin Yan teased him.
"It was cold, like ice." Yin Zhou still couldn't believe it. His eyes widened, "Holy shit I really touched him. It's so amazing and so anti-scientific and so incredible."
Lin Yan puffed out a laugh and pursed his lips. "You just get used to it. I don't even think he's cold anymore."
Yin Zhou pushed against his forehead: "Speaking of which, you're not funny. If it wasn't for the fact that I installed a remote-controlled Trojan on your computer when I was looking for your booking information last time, I wanted to make a couple of copies, but they all turned out to be the same thing. . . Now I don't know how long you've been hiding it."
"He's not as perverted and shameless as you used to describe him."
"Now you're catching on." Lin Yan reluctantly pointed behind him towards the door, "The previous blackening state almost killed me."
Yin Zhou suddenly approached Lin Yan's ear and said ambiguously, "Hey, you and him, who's top and who's bottom?"
"That must be your best bro. I pressed him into bed and ravaged him every day. . ."
"Unlikely." Yin Zhou interrupted him dryly.
Lin Yan's face turned red: "Would it kill you to shut up!"
". . . I get it. we're like the parents here." Yin Zhou rolled his eyes. "He's dressed like he's from a movie. He looks really good. When compared to you, it's a pity that the young lady is lost in vain."
The two of them were smoking and chatting with each other. Lin Yan felt that even this scene was similar to the scene when Weiwei introduced him to her best friends. A large group of girls locked him out of the door, chatting and hiding in the room to discuss. He couldn't hear what the girls were saying, only hearing bursts of laughter.
The current situation was completely reversed. He wondered if Xiao Yu was also hiding behind the wall. Lin Yan lowered his head and touched the tip of his nose, and couldn't help but snicker.
When he returned, the ghost was waiting obediently beside the coffin and his expression was rather apprehensive. Lin Yan wrapped the royal sash around his waist twice between his fingers and laughed: "He complimented you, saying you look better than me. How come I didn't see it?"
Xiao Yu also pursed his lips and smiled: "He didn't look at it right."
After staying in the coffin for a long time, the pungent musty smell seemed to have faded. Lin Yan opened the bag and took out a series of small tools such as gloves, paper and pen, a camera and a hand shovel. He took a deep breath and stared at the big black coffin. At that moment, he felt that his friends and lovers, both bones and souls, were with him, even though he was in the midst of all this weirdness and uncertainty.
In the past, he was always worried, afraid of the responsibilities on his shoulders, the eyes of the world, and the unpublished test results, but when he stared at a coffin, he calmed down. After experiencing life and death, the spirit becomes stubborn and strong, and mundane disturbances don't involve him. Only time and memory, life and death, love and hate remain in the decaying and moldy air.
People only understand their narrow-mindedness in the face of time, Lin Yan thought. If there is a couple quarrelling, or a father and son are at odds, take them to see a coffin. Only after touching death, do you realize that what you were thinking about in the first place wasn't worth it.
A heart suddenly sad and rational, as if outside, no longer knew what fear was. Lin Yan handed the camera to Yin Zhou and stroked the skeleton's cheek with his fingers. The calcified cratered facial bones were rough and dry. He whispered, afraid of disturbing its long dream: "It won't hurt. You slowly fall asleep. It'll all be fine in a while."
Xiao Yu kissed the back of his hand. Lin Yan smiled at him. He put on the gloves and straightened a section of the neck bone, starting at the shoulder blade, sliding to the chest, and feeling down each vertebra.
"Is this useful? Could the corpse have been searched by those people during the day?" Yin Zhou asked in a low voice.
"Come on. Ask A-Yan. This is archaeology, not tomb raiding. Heritage site protection always takes precedence over research. Do you know how precious a well-preserved body is? No one dares to move it if the on-site inspection equipment isn't in place. Can't you see this place is still locked? Besides, the finishing work often lasts for many years, so it's obviously not the time now." Lin Yan frowned, "The body is the last word of the deceased, and it is also the most honest thing he has ever said in his life. Listen to it first."
"Hand me the knife. The burial clothes are waxed and are stuck to the body to get in the way."
Yin Zhou handed over the dagger meant for self-defence and smacked his tongue in shock: "It's really okay. Not doing it is one thing. Actually doing it is so perverted. Take it easy. This is your own man."
"Let me show you what it means to be a professional."
The blade picked up a bit of fabric on his chest. He cut a small slit vertically and reached in with his fingers to explore.
"We're breaking the law, right?" Yin Zhou licked his lips, "You said just now that you are protecting. . ."
Lin Yan glanced at him coldly: "Apart from life and death, what is there to worry about?"
His eyes were stern. Yin Zhou dared not speak and held the camera carefully.
The surroundings were so quiet that the only sound that could be heard was their breathing.
A small, smoky black accessory was picked out from the sternum by the tip of a knife. Yin Zhou took it to the side to take a photo. The details of the shape of the device were captured by the flash on the screen. After zooming in several times, he called everyone to come and look at it.
It was a ring-shaped artifact with notches and a fine pattern.
"A jade split ring?" A-Yan said in surprise, "I've only heard of t-this thing being unearthed in the tombs before the Han Dynasty."
Lin Yan rubbed the surface with his thumb. He shook his head and said, "No, the colour is clearly a Ming imitation of Western Han work. There's something wrong."
Yin Zhou was originally staring at the display screen intently, but when he heard this, he quickly turned his head away from it: "Is there a ghost in it too?"
Lin Yan didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "I meant with this. A-Yan, we're familiar with this. Look at the display cabinet in the front hall. Is there an imitation?"
"There are a few pieces of porcelain from the Song Jun kiln and paintings and calligraphy from previous generations, but they all look old and authentic." A-Yan was very sure.
"Even if you like this shape, you should use old Han Dynasty pieces to accompany the burial for it to mean anything. The antique jade split ring wasn't worth much at that time. So close to the chest in such an important position. . . What does it mean?" Lin Yan said to himself. Yin Zhou pointed to Xiao Yu and said you should ask him. The ghost came over to take a look. He shook his head and said he didn't remember.
Yin Zhou glanced at Xiao Yu sympathetically, but Lin Yan frowned and said suspiciously, "When this thing was put on him, he had already passed away. He had no choice in it. It might be the intention of the embalmer."
After taking a few more detailed photos, Lin Yan put the jade split ring back on the body and continued to check. He felt down each rib and found a pair of large Ping'an buckles on the side of his waist. Because the colour looked jaundiced and black, the jade was fine, but nothing special. There was a jasper ring finger next to the thumb on each hand. There was a small rotten thread at the end of each tibia, the colour unknown, hanging down to the feet.
A-Yan used the flashlight to observe carefully for a long time and finally shook his head.
"Is it possible that there were bells hanging in this position, and the bells dinged when you walked?" Yin Zhou joked.
"That's an Indian dancer. . ." Lin Yan was not interested. After he was finished with the body, he simply took off his gloves and pressed the cloth under him one by one. The embroidery came into contact with the body, and the decaying fluid had been absorbed into it, drying hard. It was a thin, brittle and dark fragment that could not be opened at all. Slowly, he found a bulge and cut it open with the knife. It turned out to be a pair of good combs, made of small-leaf red sandalwood. The two semicircles come together to form a circle, one carved with a butterfly and one with an orchid.
"Die Lian Hua*. This is a token of love?" Lin Yan asked Xiao Yu, "You should have a memory of this one, right?"
*(T/N: ่ถๆ‹่Šฑ - translates to Butterflies Love Flowers, a poem by Li Qingzhao. It's a mourning poem about how, even though butterflies are found in pairs on flowers, this poet was always alone. Here is a much more in-depth analysis of it.)
Xiao Yu put his finger on his forehead. He recalled for a while, and said softly, "No."
"It's weird. . ." Lin Yan couldn't help muttering, "He can remember the last time he imitated Tang Yin's paintings. Why can't these personal objects in the coffin strike a memory?"
He constantly felt that something was strange. No matter how long he discussed it with the young Daoist priest, nothing came of it.
His fingers touched the embroidery under his waist. The pattern was vaguely mandarin ducks, and the stitching was Hunan embroidery. It was very delicate. A large bulge caught his attention. The tip of the knife picked at it, and he drew an appalled breath of horror.
"A wedding dress!" Lin Yan hooked out the pieces. The cold red hadn't completely faded away. It was inexplicably familiar. Looking carefully at the ornamentation of the fragment, he took several steps back in shock, "I know what's wrong."
"Everything in the coffin, except for the jade split ring on the chest, is in pairs, whether they should be in pairs or not." Lin Yan grabbed the camera and flipped through the photos. His face became even more suspicious. "Look at this waist pendant. What kind of person wears two identical Ping'an buckles on their waist?"
"Who wears a jasper ring on each hand? A comb should be an important token to be buried with its master. Why is it in a pair, too? If these were shared between lovers, shouldn't one keep one for each person?"
When Lin Yan said this, A-Yan also added in surprise: "Y-Yes, I've always felt strange in the front hall. The tableware, ink, and seals outside all come in twos. Even the j-jade hairpins are in pairs."
Yin Zhou scratched his head: "I don't understand this. Are pairs more auspicious?"
Lin Yan shook his head with a serious expression: "It's different. A burial mound is a copy and a reproduction of the daily life of the owner of the tomb. If in a bedroom, if there are two beds, two TVs, two wardrobes, and two writing desks, what does it make you think of?"
"It's a waste to live alone. If you are a husband and wife, you will probably be divorced soon." Yin Zhou suddenly kept silent, turned his eyes to the wedding dress under the embroidered quilt in the coffin, and hesitated: "There's also two of these. The other is. . .โ€
"In my possession." Lin Yan said solemnly.
A picture flashed through his mind. the plain white mourning hall, the sound of mournful crying, someone with a pale face, stroking his remains over and over again, a pair of brocade combs, a pair of jade pendants, hairpins, jasper rings, bowls and chopsticks, even carriages, horses and sedan chairs, the groom's auspicious clothes were put into the coffin in two pieces, without leaving a single word, turned into a mysterious contract from an ancient era forgotten in time. . .
What do you want to say? A violent burst of heart palpitations, shocked face and lips turned white, Lin Yan stumbled and pulled the jade split ring out of his chest. He pinched it in his hand and checked it repeatedly, reciting: "A jade split ring has three intentions. The first is a letter apparatus. When you see a jade split ring being worn, it means that the person concerned is severing their relations with you. The second is an accessory. It means that the wearer is decisive in everything and has the temperament of a gentleman. 'When a gentleman can make a decision, he wears a jade split ring.' The third is punishment. The offender stays in the realm or in a certain place, and is not allowed to return if he sees the jade split ring."
Each foreshadows the end, forgetting him in a dark and cold place that will never see the light of day, where life and death will never meet again.
What had he experienced in his life?
Xiao Yu's face changed dramatically. He snatched the small jade ornament from Lin Yan's hand and held it in his palm. His strength was too great, his joints were slightly white, his voice was hoarse and sad, and he pushed his shoulder: "I want to find him. Help me find him."
The man in plain clothes tugged at his hair with his hands. His eyes were chaotic. The deep pain in his eyes was like madness. He suddenly grabbed Lin Yan's backpack and unbuckled it. Things scattered all over the place, unable to be cleaned up. The last thing that floated down was the big ancient red wedding dress. Its real body had long since decayed, and what Lin Yan saw was its"soul." The ghost embraced it in his arms and slowly squatted down. His expression was grotesque and gloomy, and he raised his eyes to look at Lin Yan.
"I've waited for a long time." The ghost murmured, "It's dark and cold here, and he never came back."
Lin Yan grabbed Xiao Yu's shoulder but he was abruptly thrown away. His eyes were piercing, and he said in a hoarse voice, "Go away."
". . . You're not him."
A love as deep as this, it was all a joke. The situation suddenly took a sharp turn for the worse. Lin Yan staggered back a few steps as if a basin of cold water was poured down on his. His whole body was frozen numb.
The smell of mould and decay in the air was suddenly strong and pungent. The air that came in wasn't as much as the air that went out, and he was about to suffocate. Everyone looked at each other. The first to get angry was Yin Zhou, who stepped forward and grabbed Xiao Yu's front lapel and slammed a heavy old fist into his face. A-Yan stuffed the miscellaneous things scattered on the ground into the bag and dragged Lin Yan out: "Let's go."
