Hello I see that you have read yingnu by FTYX before. The translation has not finished so I MTL-d it but I May I know your thoughts on the main couple Li Qingcheng and Zhang Mu? I also saw that people saying that Nan Ke Ji(?) extra is not a happy ending which I don’t understand why. I MTL-d and compare MTLs many times, but I still see it as a happy ending to Yingnu.
I have! I love it! It's my fav feitian!
(everyone should read it somebody should license it I WANT NEW ART OF MU-GE AND LQX please flood the NU entry with 5-star long reviews thank you I'll start)
Anyway. /calmdown
And yes, Yingnu is BE. And you CAN read the extra as either open-ending or HE, it all depends on the interpretation? Mind you I haven't read it in a long time, so my memories of it are a bit blurry. BUT.
So, in the main story, our mains committed suicide (BE) but in the we found out it's fake suicide (feitian how many of these are we going to have) and Li Xiao basically kidnapped Xu Lingyun and ran away with him. So by then it's already open-ending. They're not dead, there is possibility of falling in love and living happily ever after. (Although platonic-ever-after's not a bad thing.)
So in this extra they're gifted a pill (for lore, go read let go of that shou) that can grant them the memories of their past lives. But that's all. It doesn't make them into the people they used to be. Li Xiao has lived a life. Li Xiao has had time to become Li Xiao. That's not going to change.
What happened in the dream was an illusion -- it's a fantasy where Zhang Mu ended up taking the pill that makes him remember being Zhang Mu in the next life, but the pill itself was sealed away in the palace, covered in poison. The logic of it doesn't really work. In having this dream, they didn't change history. When Li Xiao wakes up, he might have a few moments of remembering being Zhang Mu, but that, like any dream, will fade.
However, we never got to that part in the end of the extra. We got the moment he woke up. So if we stop time there, It's a happy ending.
but as for my thoughts, if my schedule allows (it does not at the moment sobs) I would 100% read it again i love it so much.

Hello! Thank you for the detailed response! I think that’s exactly why I interpret the Nan Ke Ji extra to be a happy ending. Like you said, Li Xiao is Li Xiao at the end of it all, he can never be his past life Zhang Mu. But he is just like Zhang Mu where he also is attracted to Xu Lingyun or Li Qingcheng. That attraction and interest is enough for him to decide to fake their deaths and journey the world with him and having that dream of the past life. Maybe I just want Xu Lingyun to be rewarded with the happiness with Li Xiao after their tragic ending as Li Qingcheng and Zhang Mu…. I hope I am not bothering you with dumping all of my thoughts about them
You're not bothering me at all anon, the more people who cry about ZM and LQC the better orz I wish I had more time so I could read this book again
(seriously every time I pick it up thinking "oh i'll just read a few passages" there goes a week)
I think part of the reason Li Xiao ran away was because 1) that was never his throne to begin with 2) he felt he owed Xu Lingyun. Even during the extra, when he drank the powder, the thoughts preceding that was that he owed Xu Lingyun something. And knowing full well that there is always a next lifetime, he figured why not, he can pay Xu Lingyun back with this one.
But honestly, I was satisfied with their BE. These were characters that committed a lot of atrocities, and the train-wreck at the end of main story seemed fitting somehow. (But Fang Qingyu, wtf, that's not how you love people.)
I'm referring to the swapping of the babies, of course. wtf. granted, if he wasn't this obsessed we wouldn't have much of a story. But wtf.
#yingnu related#YOU ALL SHOULD READ YINGNU#and throw it higher on the charts#listen#it has smut#it has plot#it has multiple lifetimes#it has strategy#court drama#we can't just fill the danmei shelf with HE#we need some variety#right ????#yingnu spoilers

CUTE!! so Zhang Mu has a little of the silly Wu Du in him? running away when his lover kisses him? absolutely cute!
i really hope am not bothering you by constantly asking you about yingnu. this will be my last time asking. i read the crossover midautumn extras and there was one where zhang Mu and li qingcheng responded that fate was how they fell in love.
i don’t mind spoilers, but can you explain this answer to me?
It's the other way around --- although I think that's just Feitian likes his ML, even Li Zhifeng got a bit silly in the extras.
You're not bothering me by asking me about Yingnu (everyone should read Yingnu ... okay not everyone but uh, those who can take the pain), anyway, Zhang Mu: 命中注定的 / decreed by fate. It was revealed at the end of book one that he was born to inherit one half of the jade arc, and Li Qingcheng was to inherit the other half.
#yingnu spoilers#also i only vaguely remember this extra#it's the one where one pair shows up the other pair thought they were assassins right#too long ago

#aboutjoyfulreunion I have to say I love this new chapter. I wasn't expecting Chang Liujin falling to his knees here, but also to be expected since he is now a fugitive. Also, I just love how bad-ass wudu is - how he went from loss after loss to becoming a leader figure. So many answers and spoilers I want so desperately. In the beginning I wanted all the assassins to unite and didn't really want Chang Liujin to die either. I'm hoping he is team Duan Ling now and leaves team Mu Kuangda. It does seem that way.
=3= Thank you for loving it!
Formula for regaining lost throne: - gain support of the four assassins - find the Zhenshanhe - most importantly of all get a silent and deadly boyfriend (oh wait that last one is Yingnu / first book in the series)
Also regarding spoilers, please look forward to tomorrow's release
