[Suspect on the run challenge]
Christian: Suspect is jealous of an inanimate objective, because his wife likes it more than him.
Nico, stops running: Oh, we're going personal?
Nico: Suspect is pussy-whipped for a woman who didn't even remember his name.
Christian:
Christian: *Actually arrests Nico*

My blood was on fire. He'd never looked at me this way, with such a soft, consuming desire in his eyes, like he'd never seen a woman before. Like I was everything.

Gianna : Christian doesn't like me. He will probably kill me someday. I mean nothing to him.
Meanwhile, Christian: Dear diary, Gianna smiled at me today. I am in love. How can I marry her at the soonest!?

Dark romance readers saying reading shouldn’t be political serves as proof that plenty of them willingly refuse to critically think when reading.
Imagine saying that when you read mafia romance. In those stories, women don’t have voices, they’re viewed as lower class. If they’re in an arranged marriage, never set up by them, they go from being their father’s property to being their husbands. We literally get monologues where the protagonist is aware she’s being used as a political pawn. Don’t forget the mafia having half the city on payroll, federal agents and politicians included.
Imagine being a stalker romance reader and saying reading isn’t political. You’re acting like you didn’t just read about how unprotected women are against danger. We see firsthand in these books how negligent the police are towards woman and victims. Instead of protecting her, her stalker is able to wipe data from the internet and pay off police. Do we not recognize this as a woman being silenced?
Imagine saying that books aren’t political while reading books about super rich boys whose daddy’s money can always save and shield. We get to see all sorts of debauchery occur in these books and all of it goes unpunished because their parents are rich and built the school yard.
The refusal to grasp concepts like that when they’re so blatant in the writing is exactly why people find dark romance readers to be dense. Y’all are so quick to run to the “people just hate woman” defense instead of looking at the monument of comments where people refuse to acknowledge that their books, dealing with the topics they do, are inherently political and heavily explored political themes. Even if the author isn’t aware.

[Christian and Gianna arguing]
Gianna: You can't run around like a footless chicken.
Christian: Headless chicken, Malyshka.
Gianna: Uhhhh no, how's the chicken supposed to run around without a head?
Christian: How's it running around without feet?
Gianna: I'm not the chicken Christian, so why are you asking me all these questions?

I loved the fucking woman. And now my biggest weakness walked outside my body, with soft brown eyes and long black hair.
