Dani x Ellen

Two months after their return from Mars, Ellen invited the American astronauts to the White House to present them with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. After the ceremony, the astronauts mingled with the other recipients and grazed on the spread of food the White House chefs prepared.

Ellen found Dani and placed a gentle hand on her arm. “I’d like to show you something in the garden. Please come with me.”

Dani nodded and followed Ellen. When they reached the garden, she was confused. “These tulips are nice, Ellen.”

“OK, so that was a bullshit excuse. But I recognized that look in your eye, Dani. And I don’t want to talk to you as the President of the United States and the first American on Mars. I want to talk to you as one commander of a mission where people died to another.

“One of the hardest things in my life was losing Deke and Harry on Apollo 24. And I had the luxury of looking out the window and seeing Earth.” She saw Dani’s jaw clench. “How are you doing, Dani?”

Dani looked a clump of yellow tulips. “Some days I’m fine. Other days, I see that damn Soviet ship crushing people or pulling bodies out of the red dust.” She rubbed at her eyes. “The worst is when I see Danny Stevens sitting out in the Martian sun. And knowing that he shouldn’t have even been on that damn planet, Ellen.”

Ellen wrapped her arms around Dani and felt the other woman sob against her shoulder. She knew there was nothing she could say to take away this horrible sorrow. Twenty years later and there were still times her grief about Deke and Harry crushed her. She simply held Dani until her tears stopped.

When Dani pulled away, Ellen took her face in her hands. “Anything you need, Dani. Just ask.” Ellen kissed her forehead.

Dani nodded and wiped her eyes with her sleeve.

Just watched this week's episode of For All Mankind! Need to talk to someone about it! SPOILERS below if you haven't seen it yet.

I thought we were DONE with Karen and Danny. WHY?! WHY?!?!??! It is so bad I hate it oh mygod.

Something I've been thinking about a lot that this show hasn't addressed at all in it's alternate timeline is that this is the 80s and there has been no mention of the AIDS epidemic (although that was more in his second term)/Reagan's detrimental social policies. I feel like that was such a central part of Reagan's time as president/his legacy, and so viscerally related to Ellen's inner conflict as a closeted woman working so closely to him. Just feels like a very loose thread, but then again this show can be astoundingly conservative in its politics at times. I haven't really liked how they've reintroduced Pam and given that relationship dynamic so little screen time...it hasn't really been doing it justice, but we shall see where things go from here.

Very interested to see the fallout of the moon shooting. The US Marines are clearly in the wrong here. Things are gonna get intense!

Also, I liked that they're adding some depth to Sally Ride's character, by developing her opposition to the prospect of weaponizing the Pathfinder!

Okay, you have hit the nail on the head, in that even with all the progressive points, it can be so oddly conservative? This season especially has been...hmm. 

First. I seriously was hoping we’d get at most a serious talk between Karen and Danny about how the kiss was a mistake and the result of a really screwed up case of transference. Instead... It’s an insult to Karen and, really, all the senior Baldwins and Stevens and their friendship.

I read an interview with the actress where she--okay, to be clear I’m not holding her responsible for the story or even for defending it, there were probably Conversations when she found out her season arc and I imagine this was the same spiel the writers gave her but she talked about the double standards and how Gordo was forgiven so easily for his cheating. Yeah, okay, there are a lot of misogynists out there who’ll always love Gordo at his messiest and hate Tracy and Karen and any woman for a fraction of the same thing, but aside from not all of us forgiving him quickly, this isn’t the same at all! If we’re speaking of double standards, imagine Ed as a stay at home dad helping take care of Tracy and Gordo’s daughter and now sleeping with her? It would be correctly seen as gross as hell. I actually do think we can’t always flip genders because some things are different for men and women, but in this, in the power dynamics and caretaker roles here, god, wtf. 

I just don’t get why? Is this because she’s holding on to Danny somehow? A midlife crisis? Feeling bored and empty? I actually think if they had to do this for her, show her dissatisfied with her life and wanting something away from Ed, Tracy’s husband, Sam, a good-looking successful MAN would have been the better option. You could imagine him sweeping Karen off her feet, the feeling of being respected and appreciated by a peer. And it’d cause a rift with Tracy but nothing like...her son?? I said this before, but these are characters we’ve already known for a decade and will for many years more. How are we supposed to forget this?? But really, why an affair at all? All the places they could go with Karen and this...it’s so cheap and so forced and honestly, makes me a little more uncertain of the writers in general.

And the amount of screentime it’s gotten! To further NOTHING? What has it done for any character or plot? Unless people find out and it spirals out? But how could this have possibly been the best way to get wherever they wanted, whether it’s a rift between Karen and Tracy or Ed and Karen breaking up or...I don’t know. Molly’s scenes were so good and yet I feel this season we’ve had more of Karen and Danny? Even if not, it’s certainly comparable, and that’s absurd.

Similarly, where’s Dani been? If it had been the other astronauts, they’d be all over this Apollo-Soyuz mission she’s supposedly leading, even at the negotiation and planning phase. Again, we see that conservativeness. How is she still the only Black person with any significant screentime? As you said, Reagan in this period would have had all kinds of policies for which many different groups would have been relevant to show their dissatisfaction. I’m not actually that upset to miss the AIDS crisis on screen, except it should at least be alluded to? So many people died, and so unjustly, and it’s just not important enough for the show, or? I’d even take it being miraculously avoided because of meds created by/for NASA. Clearly they’ve decided to almost solely take the Ellen route to tackle homophobia but that returns again to your point. Aside from Pam’s sarcastic little barb about the Reagan administration being more tolerant of alternate lifestyles, neither of them are really bringing up how specifically terrible he is, in ways unique to them over most other characters on the show.

And screentime again...I mean, how many times can I complain about Karen/Danny, but the way they were allowed to have this long makeout and then the sensual after-sex scene, like, Ellen and Pam were also literally overcome with passion that first night! They can also talk about things in bed! I’m tired of always making excuses for the difference in treatment between m/f and f/f couples. D:

This has already become an essay but one last complaint! The Bill-Aleida-Margo thing. The thing is, while Aleida has a chip on her shoulder at times, Bill WAS a crappy boss? As a person, he was rude as hell, but as a team lead, he shut down Aleida’s suggestions with no discussion constantly, how many good ideas have been lost over the years? It was on Margo to remediate whatever was going on even before this, not just being like, he’s not a people person. Then he should learn or not be a team lead.

But yeah, the ending. I wonder what role Ellen will have in all this, given it was her idea to retake the site earlier than planned.

On slow nights, when they were both at NASA, Ellen and Larry would sometimes speculate about the queerness of their fellow employees.

Ellen was pretty sure that Molly had slept with at least Patty, if not more women. After meeting Wayne, she was sure of it.

Larry was adamant that if Ed and Gordo had been on the moon alone, they would have fucked. They both thanked Dani for her service for saving them from dealing with the fallout of that.

Ellen was also sure that Karen and Tracy had drunkenly kissed after a party.

But where they disagreed the most was Margo. Larry couldn’t see her loving or wanting anything more than her job. But Ellen, after seeing Margo wear a skirt and heels and stride down the hallways of JSC like a middle linebacker on many occasions, wondered.

During the 1990 budget cycle, Margo came to DC and she and Ellen (now the Senator from Texas) put on a full court press of lobbying to secure the funding needed for the launch of the 1996 Mars mission. After the vote passed, Ellen joined Margo in her hotel’s bar. After a champagne toast, they moved on to tumblers of their preferred hard liquor. Ellen laughed as the bartender blew the dust off the bottle of Margo’s preferred brandy.

Ellen learned that Margo could handle her liquor. Although she did wobble a bit on the way to the elevator. She had brought Ellen’s anniversary plaque for the first class of female astronauts. Ellen had missed the ceremony due to a series of crucial votes she needed to be present for.

When she entered Margo’s hotel room, she was drunk enough to try to solve the mystery of Margo. When handed her the plaque, she leaned in and kissed Margo.

Margo didn’t freeze or push away. Nor did she kiss back or deepen the kiss.

Ellen pulled away, even more confused than before.

Margo thumped her on the shoulder. “Ellen, you’re a good person. And I don’t want to ruin another marriage. So let’s just forget this happened, OK?”

Ellen nodded. “Yes. Let’s.”

As she left Margo’s room with her plaque, she wondered what Margo had meant by another marriage. If she remembered when she was sober, she was going to find out about that. Which probably meant more drinking because god, Margo could keep secrets as well as a Soviet.

Ellen did not remember in the morning. She remembered the headache for years afterward.

Request - Ok good I was just asking if you would cause I wanted to ask for the platonic GOT cast X Male reader (au happy ending with Dany alive and good) being one of Dany's dragons but this one can talk and he had to do the CGI and all that and it was really fun like Benedict Cumberbatch in hobbit and his character is sassy from time to time and during an interview they showed all kinds of bloopers with the dragon trying on different accents and famous voice impersonations and dancing on his hind legs(1)

2) the reader is around 20 and his kid was born during highschool and the reader has a great talent at drama class and is the comedian of the group and he doesn't go to a lot of interviews and during one they see his shirt which has in big words world's best daddy and has glitter

You rarely do interviews because you want to keep your personal very private. You agree to do a cast interview on the show Late Night with Seth Meyers.

You left your son with the babysitter and you have to do an interview with your co-stars. You see you co-Stars all dressed fancy while you have on a shirt in big words world's best daddy and has glitter.

”Wow, Y/N,” Emilia said.

”Everyone looks amazing!” You cheerfully said.

”Why you didn't tell us you are a dad and why you didn't dress up?” Lena said.

”I really don't like to dress up. And I promised my son, I would we're the shirt he made me” You said.

You sit between Kit and Peter. Seth asked questions about the show and the characters etc.

”I told him I play a dragon, he starts to touch my face and he laughs and said no,” You said and everyone laughed.

”I really don't need an alarm clock, because he always wakes up early. He will lie on top of my face suffocate me and he starts to giggle” You said.

Everyone starts to laugh again. Seth showed bloopers of the cast. You do CGI for one of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons. In the video, you are next to Emilia and you start to different accents and she starts to laugh. Next, you forget your lines and Emilia made you laugh. Then you start to dance and Emilia and Kit try to copy your dance moves but couldn't.

You didn't go to work today because you wanted to spend the day with your son because it's his birthday. You invited his friends to the party and the theme is Spiderman. You watch your son try to make friends but he runs to you. And you picked him up.

”You don't want to play with them?” You asked.

He shakes his head no and he gives his face on your shoulder. Emilia arrived with gifts and Kit has on a Spiderman costume. He points at them and you smiled.

”Happy birthday, Bobby. Look who came to visit!” Emilia said with a smile.

”Happy birthday, Bobby! I'm glad your father told me about your birthday” Kit said.

Bobby starts to smile and he wants Kit to hold him.

”Now go have fun with Spiderman,” You said.

You hugged Emilia and she gave you the gifts.

”Thank you, for you and Kit coming to the party,” You said.

”I bought him dinosaur toys and a kid's book of Spongebob,” Emilia said.

”He will love it. Come, I will grill food for you” You said.

”I will love that because I really need to eat something,” Emilia said.

Later, you took many pictures of your son with everyone. You are really happy that Kit and Emilia made your son happy. Bobby won't leave Kit’s side because he thinks Kit is the real Spiderman.

Everyone starts to sing happy birthday and he hides his face on your arm. Kit took the pictures of you and Bobby together.

”Y/N, how did you get into acting?” Ellen asked.

”It started in high school, I would never miss drama class. I felt happy making people laugh and I always loved to put a show. When my son Bobby was born, I gave up acting for a little bit. Because taking care of a newborn was extremely hard for me” You said.

”Did Kit really dressed up as Spiderman, for your son’s birthday?” Ellen asked.

You don't post a lot of pictures of your son on Instagram if you do you cover his face. Emilia posted a picture of kit wearing the Spiderman costume. And she wrote; Happy birthday Bobby! 🎂🎉😊😙

”Yes! And all-day he didn't want to leave Kit’s side so now Bobby has a new father” You said

Everyone laughed along with you. While talking to Ellen she scared you two times and you ran off stage and she can't stop laughing.

Your co-stars went to San Diego Comic-Con, but they think you won't be there.

Before going to comic con, you go to Party City store with your son. You and Bobby walk around trying to decide what to wear.

”Any ideas, what I should wear?” You asked him.

He points at the picture on the wall.

”Iron First!” He cheerfully said.

You high five him.

”Good choice. Do you want to be Batman?” You asked.

”I want to be Batman. Dad, can I get Pokemon cards and candy?” Bobby asked.

”Yea, you can. Let's go tell the staff to get out costumes” You said.

Bobby high five you again.

Finally, arriving at Comic-Con you spend time with your son and you bought stuff for him and yourself. You see your cast on the panel, you and Bobby get on and he has the mic.

”Hello! and my dad love's you guys and has a surprise for you,” Bobby said.

You take off your mask and Bobby does the same. Everyone started to cheer and go crazy. You get the mic and you pick up your son.

”We are glad to be here and this my son Bobby,” You said.

”Hi!” Bobby yelled into the mic.

You hugged your friends and they hugged Bobby too. You answer questions about your character and about Dany too. Bobby is sitting on your lap and he waves at people.

Later, you take pictures with the fans and they are very happy to meet you. Bobby would photobomb every picture you take with everyone. They didn't mind he photobomb the pictures.

Much later, you go to a cafe shop with your friends. You are still wearing your costume and Bobby too.

”Well, Batman can only have chocolate milk,” You said to Peter.

Your manager told you to go to the 70th Emmy Awards and you said sure. But you had to wear a suit and you said fine. Bobby wasn't supposed to go but the babysitter had to cancel at the last minute.

You don't trust just anyone to watch him. So, you helped put on a suit and he is very happy to go with you to the show. You put on men's cologne

”Dad, spray perfume on me,” Bobby said.

”Its called cologne. Come here and I will show how to put it on” You said.

You showed him to spray it on and he did it.

”Bobby, you don't have to take pictures if you don't want to,” You said.

You are on one knee for eye contact.

”I want to take pictures with you,” Bobby said.

”Okay, let's take pictures together, buddy,” You said.

You and Bobby posed for the paparazzi. You meet up with your friends and hugged everyone. You told them why Bobby came.

While sitting with them, Bobby told you he is hungry. You take out a small packet of apple slices from your blazer. Bobby starts to eat it

”Nick! I have apple here” Bobby said.

He doesn't know how to say Nikolaj properly so he just calls him, Nick.

”Thank you, I like apples,” Nikolaj said with a smile.

He high five Bobby.

”Peter, you want apples?” Bobby asked.

”Of course,” Peter said.

Now he is sharing his apple slices with Nikolaj and Peter.

The show won an Emmy and everyone is on stage. Bobby is holding your Emmy and he waves at everyone.

”Trophies up!” Photographer said.

”Woot! Woot!” Peter said.

”Woot! woot! Yay!” Bobby said.

You did go to the after-party for a bit then went home with Bobby, because he is falling asleep.

Danielle Campbell makes an appearance on the Ellen Show

ELLEN : “hi there, danielle. welcome back to my show. it’s been forever since you come to see me. how have you been ? what’s new ?”

Dani: hey, ellen! It’s so good to see you. Your show is still, and always will be one of my favorites. I’ve been great!

ELLEN: So, you’ve been busy it seems like. I heard of some new projects coming up. Can you give us a tease of what you’re working on ? 

Dani: Im actually kind of in between projects at the moment. We have both seasons of tell me a story moving to the cw to check out, so there’s that. Other than that I’m kind of testing out the waters on a couple of different things. I’m excited to see how they pan out!

ELLEN: Do you hear that audience? They absolutely can’t wait to see what you’ve been working hard to deliver. Lucky us. When do you think we can expect for you to drop this project ?

Dani: I wouldn’t mind having that very sound as the ringtone on my phone, it makes me feel so special. I don’t actually have a time line yet but as soon as I do you’ll be the first to know.

ELLEN: So, Coachella… oh wait, I mean FESTIVE-X. How are excited are you? I have to tell you, when I first found out about this festival I was wondering how many people would make time to do it. I’m so glad you are making time in your busy schedule to help out the less fortunate. It says a lot about your character. Can I ask you what inspired your booth idea ?

Dani: Oh my gosh, it’s going to be absolutely amazing! I am so psyched about it. Who doesn’t love the whole idea of a festival in general? Its such a fun atmosphere. There’s no way I could turn down an opportunity like this one, especially when it’s helping the greater good. Louis and his ever growing collection of tattoos inspired it actually. We wanted to come up with something different, so we did a bit of brainstorming and landed on that.

Ellen: Well, I’d like to personally congratulate you. I really hope you walk home with the most donations. I’m sure your booth will win. It turned out amazing! Do you wanna let us know why you’ve decided to go with that charity instead of the hundreds of others? 

Dani: Thank you, I hope so too! Lottie introduced me to the #justsaysomething campaign and it’s just something that I think is so important. A lot of times people think that masking your grief and holding things in will make them feel stronger about the whole thing, but it’s really so beneficial to get that out and talk about it. It’s not something that a lot of people….talk about. No pun intended. That’s why I think bringing attention to it might get some more conversations going hopefully in a really healthy direction.

Ellen: Well, Danielle, I’m so glad to have had you here today. Thank you for stopping by the studio. But before you leave and break all these hearts in the crowd, we have a BIG surprise for you. Gen had to pull you away from dancing with your brother-in-law to tell you that Danneel and Jensen were missing.  “I’m not worried about it.”

“Our husband and wife aren’t here, and you’re not worried about it?”  

“You how this place has about four stories?”  She nodded as you smirked.  “Well, there’s a set of rooms upstairs designed for couples to have fun in, if you know what I mean.”

“Oh my god, they’re upstairs having a quickie and they left you down here?”

“Oh, we’ll make ‘em pay later, don’t you worry.”  You winked as you bunched up your wedding dress and made your way towards the bar.  Jared was sitting with his mask off in front of him,   nursing a whiskey as you wrapped your arms around his shoulders and kissed him on the cheek.  “What’s wrong, handsome?”

“Jay and Dani vanished.”  Gen trailed behind you and took a set next to her husband.  He looked between the two of you.  “You don’t seem that surprised.”

“You remember what our initial idea was after the commitment ceremony was over?”

“A quickie in the limo on our way over to the reception hall?”  Gen nodded as you worked the glass out of Jared’s hand and took a sip.  You grimaced as you placed it back in front of him and he chuckled at your expression.  “Are you telling me -”

“Yep.”

“No one can walk in on them though.  The upper floors are ours for the night.”

“You knew something like this would happen, didn’t you?”  You eyes twinkled with mischief as a grin formed on your face.

“If you want, you can play swapsies with them once they return.”

“How is that fair to you?”  Gen softly asked as you removed your arms from Jared’s shoulders. with a shrug.  

“I made a bet with myself on Monday, and I want to be a good girl for all of you.”

“Y/N, when was the last time you touched yourself?”

You paused and counted.  It wasn’t like the temptation wasn’t there.  Your phone contained a treasure trove of naughty pictures from the four of them.  You clenched your thighs together as you thought about some of them.  “It’s been a week.”

“Such a good girl.”  Gen purred into your ear and you shivered as she ran a manicured hand down your exposed back.  “We’ll have to make sure our girl is properly rewarded later, won’t we Jared?”

“Of course.”

“Is it later yet?”  You groaned as Jared and Gen laughed in unison.

It had always been a dream of yours to host a masquerade ball since you watched Labyrinth as a little kid.  You worked your ass off on planning once you were given the go ahead and it paid off.  

“Is it everything you wanted and more?”  You looked to your right as Misha walked towards you.  

“And then some.”  The smile he was wearing reached his eyes.  Misha pulled off his costume well - he was wearing a black raven’s mask, and a tuxedo that was close to what Jensen was wearing.  

You watched from the second floor as your guests twirled around on the dancefloor.  “I’m just sorry Vicki had to miss it, she sends her love though.”

“Once you guys go back to Vancouver, I can see if Danneel and Gen want to go on a trip with me so we can visit her.”  Vicki and Misha were two of your oldest friends.  

“Unless you know someone who is willing to babysit six kids, you might be taking that trip alone.”

You laughed and from the corner of your eye, you saw Jensen and Danneel trying to be stealthy.  “Well those two looked thoroughly debauched.”  You mumbled under your smirk as you caught Misha watching you, confused.  You pointed down to the dance floor where Jensen and Danneel were talking to another couple.  

Jensen would have tried his best to tuck his dress shirt back in, but there was some spilling over in the back.  His tuxedo jacket was draped over his left arm and his bow tie was clearly undone.  He turned to Danneel who was talking to one of the party guests, when he spotted you and Misha on the stairs.  He squeezed her side before making his way towards the two of you.  

“The two of you are in trouble.”

Jensen shrugged with a shit eat grin on his face as he held out his hand.  “Worth it though.  Misha, you mind if I steal her for a bit?”

“I was heading out anyways.  Oh, before I forget,”  Misha fished an envelope out of pocket and slipped it into your hands.  “this is a small wedding gift from Vicki and myself.  Use it however you want but you’re not allowed to return it.”  You carefully opened it and gasped.

“Misha, oh my god-”

“All I ask is that if the five of you decide to have baby number seven, name it after me.”  Misha winked at the two of you before turning away and leaving.  

“We’re putting this in a bank account for the kids.”

“Or…”  Jensen drew you into his arms as the song switched.  “Jared and I could spend tonight filling you over and over again with our cum until you wind up pregnant.”

“Oh yeah, and how would the two of you do that, hm?”  

“I think you know sweetheart.”

“Everything must go Y/N.”  He practically growled into your ear and you shuddered.  “She was so excited about tonight, Y/N.  Oh, you won’t believe the plans our wife has in store for you.”

“Jay, sweetie, I hate to tell you this but after you and Dani disappeared, Gen and I, well we came up with a punishment for you.  Jared and you, well you’re going to jerk each other off while Gen prepares Jared.”

“She’s going to peg him tonight, isn’t she?”

Written for @thing-you-do-with-that-thing and her Jenneel love challenge (because the Ackles are couple goals amd I will go down with that ship!) I took a chance and tried my hand at a poly fic (Jenneel x Reader) but have kept it all pretty vague :) My prompt was the first picture you'll find. This also is for @spnfluffbingo and fills my 'carving initials in a tree' square. I found a website (https://m.photofunia.com/effects/tree_carving) and made the second image using that :)

“Oh thank god that's over!” “Actually, we're only halfway.” Your girlfriend Danneel muttered, an apologetic look on her face. “Danneel, I love you, but if this view is rubbish after all of this, I’m gonna slap you.” You threaten, though it's not nearly as scary sounding as you were aiming for, your breath coming out in short puffs. “I promise, it'll be worth it. Couple more minutes rest, then we'll carry on moving.” A few minutes was over way too quickly for your liking, and hefting your rucksack into a more comfortable position, you followed your girlfriend along the hike path she had picked for the two of you to tackle this afternoon. You were in need of more photographs for an upcoming exhibit you were having at one of Austin's most prominent studios, and Danneel had told you that the sunsets at Sculpture Falls would be perfect for your exhibit. You just wish she'd told you what a hike it was going to be to get there. It wasn't that you were unhealthy, but you had always been a bigger sized woman. Luckily, neither your girlfriend or boyfriend minded. Sure, fans of the Ackles’ gave you a hard time, but you had been ready for that, knowing just announcing that Jensen and Danneel Ackles were in a polyamorous relationship was going to raise some eyebrows.

With minimal moaning, and only one more death threat passing your lips, you let out a massive sigh of relief as you made it to the top, only to be rendered speechless at the view. Sure, like Dani said, it was beautiful, and would be even more beautiful once the sun was setting, but it was something else entirely that took your breath away. “Hey ladies.” “Jay?! What the...what? I...what!?” Jensen and Danneel couldn't help but laugh at your mindless stuttering, but they shut up pretty quickly when you thump the pair of them. “Seriously, what the hell are you doing here?” You ask, slightly muffled as you've buried your face into Jensen's chest. “We finished filming early. So thought I'd surprise at least one of you. And as last time it was D for her birthday, this time it's all you.” “I freaking love you. I love both of you.” “We love you too, Y/N.” Dani murmurs from behind you, her arms wrapping around your shoulders as she kisses your shoulder.

After a gorgeous picnic Jay and Dani brought up with them, you grab your faithful Leica and start snapping. You must've taken hundreds of photos by the time you're satisfied, but you're certain you've got the final shots you need. Turning back round to find your partners, you find them stood in the shadows of the trees, Jensen leaning in to kiss Dani. Unable to help yourself, you raise the camera once more, and at the perfect moment click the shutter. As Jensen pulls away and turns toward you, you see the blush starting to creep into his freckled cheeks. It never fails to amaze you how this man who made his career appearing on screen and attends conventions once a month always gets so shy about you taking photos of him.

“Come here babe.” Jensen gestures to you, and quickly detouring to put your camera away safe and sound, you join the loves of your life. “There's another reason why D suggested this place to you.” Jay smiles, taking one of your hands between his, while Danneel grabs the other. “Oh?” “Yeah. We know we can't do anything officially, but we want to give you these.” Dani whispers, sliding a ring onto your hand, Jensen doing the same. “We love you, and we want you to be a part of this family. We want you to be an Ackles.” Jensen cups your face with one hand, thumb coming up to brush away the tears that have started to fall. “Oh my god. Yes. Yes!” You sob, kissing Jensen then Dani. As you leave later, ready to pick up the kids and celebrate as a family, there's one thing left behind. A permanent reminder of the day Jensen and Danneel Ackles asked you to become part of the family for life. You just hope the city of Austin doesn't mind the heart you'd carved into the tree, three sets of initials taking pride of place inside.

“Sam, are you sure?” you question for the millionth time. It was different when it was just Evie, but know that it’s Evie, Kasey, Kyle plus his Jake, you are scared to leave him alone.

“I’m sure, Eileen will be back in the morning from that salt and burn.”

“We can wa-”

“Get out of here. Go grab Dean, go out and I don’t want to see either of you until at least tomorrow.”

“A-”

“If you ask me one more time I am going to lock you out of the Bunker, I can handle it. Go!”

“Okay,” you smile, turning on your heel and going to find Dean. He’s in your room, packing a few things in his duffle. You lean against the wall, watching him until he turns, a smile spreading across his features.

“Hey beautiful.”

“What do I need to wear?”

“Exactly what you have on,” he crosses the room, wrapping you in his arm, his lips finding yours, “it isn’t going to be on long anyways.”

“You’re awful full of yourself,” you mumble against his lips and he nips at your bottom one, making you giggle.

“Got good reason to be, we don’t have three kids for nothin’,” he winks and you bust out laughing, your whole body shaking.

“Where are we going?”

He dips down, pressing a kiss to your neck, “Somewhere.”

“That’s not very descriptive,” you hum as his lips travel over your skin.

“Somewhere special,” he mumbles, his lips finally meeting yours.

“Somewhere special where I can wear skinny jeans and a flannel?”

He smirks, his hand caressing your cheek, “Anywhere is special with you baby.”

You roll your eyes, giggling, touching his face, his scruff rough under your palm, “Such a sap.”

He presses a kiss to your hand, “Only for you.”

Dean wraps his arm around your waist, pulling you close, his lips finding yours, “C’mon, let’s get outta here.”

His fingers lace with yours, pulling you behind him through the Bunker to the garage, “Dean?”

“Oh c’mon, you trust me,” he chuckles, opening the door of the Impala for you, his hand staying in yours until you are seated.

“Most days,” you tease.

“Ouch,” he climbs behind the wheel, revving the engine, tearing out of the garage and into the warm evening air.

When you hit the highway, he doesn’t turn towards town, but takes the left instead.

“Seriously Dean, we aren’t heading towards anything.”

His hand finds yours, pulling it up to his lips, kissing your knuckles, “That’s the point.”

He goes for a few more miles, pulling off onto a gravel road and into a field, parking the Impala in the grass, “Alright, here we are.”

You glance over, raising an eyebrow and Dean’s grin grows, the crinkles around his eyes getting deeper with his dimples. He gives you a quick kiss before reaching behind the seat, grabbing a couple of paper bags, “There’s the food, I’ll grab us a blanket.”

He hops out of the car, heading for the trunk as you get out, unable to contain the smile as you head for the hood of the Impala. He meets you there, spreading out the blanket, sitting down on it, the excitement rolling off of him.

He looks up, his olive eyes meeting yours, “What?”

You shake your head, kneeling down beside him, pulling the food containers out of the bags, “Nothing.”

His finger hooks under your chin, “It’s something.”

You close the distance, kissing him, “Just how much I love you.”

And you were. You fell in love with this badass hunter with a soft side. You’ve spent almost ten years with him as your best friend, half of that as his girl and then his wife. He’s goofy and brave, loving and kind, strong, the best husband you could hope for and the best dad your kids could ever ask for, “You and the kids are my everything.”

He swallows hard, cupping your chin, kissing you again, so soft and sure. When he pulls away, his thumb rubs over your cheek gently, his olive eyes searching your face, “I love you so damn much.”

Dean grabs you a sandwich and a beer out of the bag, handing it to you before grabbing his own, “Sam made them, so there aren’t any guarantees about this shit being any good.”

You chuckle, biting into it, “It’s not bad.”

Dean smirks, “Would have been worse if you made them.”

“Shut-up,” you roll your eyes, nudging his side, “I can kinda fend for myself.”

“Boxed mac and cheese isn’t fending for yourself sweetheart,” he teases.

“The sad thing is, I’ve gotten better,” you chuckles, taking another bite.

“You’re not wrong,” he scoots closer to you, leaning against the car as you two eat.

Just about the time you’re done, it’s getting dark and you curl up against his side, watching the sunset as you both sip on the beers in comfortable silence.

He squeezes your shoulder, “You remember that night I punched that asshole in the bar and you drug me out into the middle of nowhere.”

You smile, “The first time we did it in the backseat? Yeah, where you planning on a throwback tonight?”

“Duh…. “ he chuckles, kissing the top of your head, “But no, I was thinkin’ ‘bout it. That was the night knew I was in deep with you. Like I always knew I was head over heels, but that’s the night I knew I was in love with you. I denied it for awhile, but fuck...”

You smile, pressing a kiss to his throat, “Sorry it took so long for me to catch on.”

His hand runs up and down your arm, “Nah, we weren’t ready, not for all this. All that fate stuff is bullshit, but we happened right.”

You rub his chest as you curl against him, “You wouldn’t have done it any other way?”

“Nope,” his voice certain, “You?”

“Never. I wouldn’t change a damn thing about us.” You wouldn’t, it’s not a fairytale with Dean, but you couldn’t live like that, neither could he. Your messed up matches his and his crazy matches yours. It works, and it’s your definition of perfect.
