My version of @pmpknsoup’s post again, smaller and simpler.

This could be either a short like the ones from Volumes 4-6 so that Volume 10 can focus on the story, or something an episode of Volume 10 would include, but fade to the biggest interesting parts of Ruby’s explanation and not spend too much time on it so as to keep the plot moving.

INT. THEODORE’S OFFICE IN SHADE ACADEMY - EARLY EVENING

When Ruby apologizes for how long it’s taken to reveal where they’ve been.

When Ruby reveals that The Girl Who Fell Through the World is real, everyone is confused.

When Ruby recites the story of Penny she told to the toy soldiers, the gang, especially Winter and Pietro, grows emotional.

When Ruby reveals that the Curious Cat saved them from being beheaded, everyone grows interested.

When Ruby mentions being drugged by the Herbalist and almost giving into her past self, the group ranges from confused to nervous.

When Ruby talks about Ascension, such a concept catches the interest of the gang.

When Ruby reveals that Neo fell into the Ever After with them, too, Ren, Nora, Oscar, and Emerald grow worried.

When Ruby reveals that a grown-up Jaune with long hair and a beard was the Rusted Knight, everyone jumps back in shock.

When Ruby talks about the “punderstorm” and reveals that Yang and Blake are now girlfriends, everyone’s hearts melt.

When Ruby reveals that Jaune had been unhealthily protecting the Paper Pleasers and named them after everyone there, not a word is spoken as everyone exchanges concerned and uncomfortable looks with each other.

When Ruby talks about the Paper Pleasers offing themselves by drowning in the koi pond dam, then her blowing up at the others, everyone leans in anxiously…

…while Weiss, Blake, Yang, and Jaune share looks of guilt.

When Ruby reveals that Neo made clone illusions of their dead allies and beat her up with them, then gave in and drank the poison tea, everyone regards Ruby sorrowfully.

When Ruby reveals that Summer lied to them and left with Raven before never returning, then Raven cracks about how she told Summer, “First time for everything,” the gang gives her a look.

When Ruby reveals that she decided to be herself, came back, and helped the girls beat the Cat, everyone cheers for them.

When Ruby reveals that Neo used the Jabberwalkers to eat the Cat, everyone is shocked again.

When Ruby shares the Brother Gods’ backstory, and Nora jokes that the Tree was their mom and kicked them out for misbehaving, the gang can’t resist growing hysterical.

When Ruby announces that she’s not giving up the fight to save the world anytime soon and gives her speech, the gang congratulates her.

There are multiple configurations, but I would go with:

Felix as Dani.

Eddie as Christian.

Vee and Farleigh filling in for Mark and Josh (we can have a fun doppelganger moment with Farleigh and Simon!)

Oliver as Pelle.

We need to fuck about with the dynamics a bit, because reasons, and we can use Eddie as a lil bit of a dynamic foil for that. Also, I am picturing him as being played by Johnny Flynn.

So; it's the first summer back from Oxford.

Felix and Eddie are in a secret relationship. Eddie, however, is fucking around on Felix with everyone he can, even Venetia, with the excuse of "if I didn’t it would be weird" etc.

Felix finds out about Eddie sleeping with Vee at the start. He's fucking spiralling hard, he could deal with Annabel and India but his sister?

Eddie is more fun than Felix and is having a handjob on a haybale summer with Vee and Farleigh and Oliver. Ollie has kinda wriggled into the group via being in the same tutorial group as Farleigh, and Farleigh is hoping to get him to do some of his essays.

Vee etc don't know why Felix is being so weird. Oliver suggests that they head up North. Take a road trip to his hometown. They do all these weird old pagan things- someone probably makes a Wicker Man joke, Oliver chuckles.

They all head up North. Oliver and Felix are in the same car, and Oliver is very nice to Felix. Felix is trying not to act weird over Eddie, but Oliver seems to know that they're together and is very kind about it.

They head to Prescot, where they meet Paula and Jeff... And then start going somewhere else? Oliver explains that plenty of members of their community go out into the world, but they come back home every summer.

Deep, deep in the British countryside is a plague-era village. You can't get to it easily, you have to go down this hidden and heavily rutted road and it's probably in the Peak District or something so it's really hilly and rural and basically hidden by trees. They follow Paula and Jeff's car there.

They're welcomed by Oliver's big sisters and other members of the village. Oliver explains how it works, casually mentioning that same sex relationships are fine as "there are plenty of children to look after. Two uncles or two aunts isn't a problem. It just means two more people to love the children and help them grow up safe and protected."

Seeing some nice anon asks about my OCs and their dynamics and relationships with their whumpers make me happy but also, I actively had to think about them having actual whumpers that are *mine* or if I constantly borrow others 😅

With the result that, yeah, I do have many whumpers of my own creation, but they're usually not the main bad guys. Because since my very first whump rp with @whumping-newbie, when she penned an additional bad guy for Alicia's story, throwing ideas to each other with other creators is how almost all of my stories started. The ones that are "only" mine are backstory, or glimpses at the future of my OCs. The ones that are designed to serve a story, or a character (the whumpee) and thus - narratively - always a bit inferior to them, a bit less important. That's Madeline, Tim, Cory, Alan, Jack, Mark and Gemma... Tyler is the only exception in my current stories, and really, he is only a backdrop in an Angel's story.

But the ones penned by my friends, the main whumpers in my RPs that turned into stories and universes, they have been so much more, because the story happened around them, the plot came from these OCs that were already formed and the ideas of two people instead of just one, with so much passion and love behind these concepts. They are deeper because they had to be. So this is a call out to everyone who I ever RPd with - I love you and I love our stories, and I deeply enjoyed everything we did. @whumping-newbie for Charlie, @hackles-up for Ridley, @for-the-love-of-angst for Thane, @painful-pooch for the Kysils, @wildfaewhump for Geoff and Fin (I'm limiting myself to the whumpers here, okay), @ocean-blue-whump for everyone we threw at Dany and Enzo.

And of course, the same thing holds true for the love interests (weird how similar the process is to the whumpers, ngl) - almost everyone I tagged also wrote someone who a version Dany fell in very deep, life changing, heartbreaking love with. B, Enzo, Peyton, Myk, Lourdes.

(Not Vee's guys, because they're just never compatible even if we tried 😂 but we have others!)

Anyways, back to the point - thank you all, and now I'll busy myself with reading up on all these amazing stories. They're all gold, and you guys are wonderful.

The Marvel fans and the DC fans. And while the rivalry certainly has calmed down a bit, I was almost always torn.
