a constant joke between me an my mom is to point at leon and exclaim "watch out he got his ears back! he's dangerous!"
based on that time we just walked by this older lady and leon, as always, stared at her and cried. she went "oh god that's a dangerous one" in full earnesty. so i gave my usual "he just really loves people wants to say hello" explanation just for her to reply with "BUT HE GOT HIS EARS BACK!"

It's that time of year again where it gets a little warmer and I remember that Amphibia is a show I very much enjoy thinking about. Have some Anne outfits, as a treat <3
If you would like to see what aspect of headcanon/ au worldbuilding had consumed my consciousness like a pestering maggot, feel free to continue below.
Hello! Welcome to I focus on researching one very specific detail until I burn out!
My entire day has been consumed by figuring out how Amphibia's farming works. Like... amphibians are carnivores why do they have farms?
Well, I'll tell you why! The Plantars grow animal feed for predominantly crickets but also others such as silkworms, spiders, snails, etc. They grow produce like cabbage, mushrooms, parsnips, potatoes, dandelions, and turnips as well as heartfruit, a fruit not found on Earth.
In the past, the original amphibian hunter/gatherer societies found that mealworms were attracted to fallen heartfruit, among others. They began to use this knowledge to make traps and eventually began both containing the worms as well as growing the fruit.
Despite mealworms historical prominence in the farming and feeding of Amphibia, crickets are more popular nowadays due to their higher levels of protein. They also began growing a larger variety of produce to further increase efficiency.
Heartfruit is a kind of tree grown fruit with the color of a raspberry, size of a kumquat, and shape of a peach (hence the name). The Plantar's orchard is the only producer of this fruit as its traditionally significant but not necessary for frog kind. They are Anne's personal favorite of the Plantar's produce, being chalk full of nutrients and somehow feels nostalgic to her.
Speaking of Anne, she survives mostly on the Plantar's produce along with cricket meat (knowing that she can at least eat crickets).
After discovering that the amphibians hibernate, she begins to plant pole beans, blueberries, elderberries, and other produce and herbs in her greenhouse to cultivate while she forages and stockpiles for winter. She preps and stores wild rice, pecans, and sunflower seeds (discovered through trial and error). She keeps spare root veggies and other product in the basement. The Plantars help her do this, once they understand the situation, drying heartfruit and salting and smoking fish as well as making jerky out of bugs that they know she can have.
Anne's gonna learn to survive, even if the first winter is especially hard.

We checked out Assateague State Park this morning and had a really nice time even though we were basically limited to the south beach since we had the pup. She usually is really excited about horses, but I suppose they're less interesting for her when they're just standing around

Friendly reminder from a wildlife rehabilitation student here, as we approach baby season in many regions-
Leave baby animal care to the professionals! If you find a baby animal, be it bird or bunny, call your local wildlife rehabilitation center for advice on what to do, as it’s highly situational and depends on species. The fact stands regardless of circumstance- you aren’t equipped to care for it! Leave it to the professionals! Otherwise, as sad as it is to say, you could be condemning that baby animal to death!

went on a hike with some coworkers to an alpine lake, saw a family who’d been camping with their pet goats on the shores of it, thought “oh this is so picturesque” but then the GOATS CAME OVER TO US WANTING FOOD ——-

Note
(for the anonymous assumptions thing) you’ve pet or otherwise been in close contact with an exotic animal (aside from the wolf)
I regret to inform everyone that I have had gray jays land on my hand for peanuts many times before
I also got jumpscared by a raccoon the other day and we stared at each other for a good minute. then the little weirdo ran away carrying something in its little gremlin hands

having an american staffy is so funny sometimes because one minute he'll be barking and growling loudly and powerfully at people walking down the street but then when you go to sit down next to him and pat him and tell him that it's ok and there's nothing to bark about he'll look at you like the most innocent whimsical little creature alive wagging his tail and licking your fingers. amazing animal 10/10
#he only barks at people because he wants to protect his family <3#my staffy's name is toby btw :D#he's so sweet he's literally the friendliest animal ever#he's such a big and somewhat intimidating dog to many but the only thing he'll do is lick you a lot and demand pets#literally one time when he was at the vet he was wagging his tail excitedly at one of the smaller dogs and the moment it barked at him he-#-backed away and sat down. like this big muscular dog known for its power got nervous getting barked at by this small little curly one.#on one hand i kinda do understand people being wary of staffies because they absolutely can be dangerous dogs#but on the other hand i think the widespread fear of them is really exaggerated#it all depends on how they're trained and raised#a ''bad dog'' isn't actually a bad dog. they just act aggressive because that's the way they were raised and the life experiences they had.#people think all staffies are gonna go buckwild on them as soon as they approach them and then here's my dog who's literally just-#-a big stinky baby who wants tummy rubs and cuddles <3#the worst my dog will do is accidentally scratch you or knock you over because he got the zoomies#he has sharp claws he can't help scratching people on accident#also cool facts about my dog: he's classified as blue and he has one eye#he had to get his right eye removed because he got a really bad case of glaucoma unfortunately :(#but he's so much happier now because he isn't in pain anymore and he's adjusted to it so well :D#he's also become more brown over the years and doesn't look as blue as he used to but he's still my beautiful blue baby <3#i love staffies they are so sweet

It's finally dawned on me that I probably won't be able to get back to making art anytime soon.
I'd been trying to make redraws in a vague and a little desparate attempt to do just that ; after all, I'd been wanting to draw stuff lately and even had a few new ideas. They just refused to translate to anything when I actually got in front of my computer -hence the redraws. It had worked quite well until now and given me the boost I needed to start new stuff.
Except even those had started to feel terrible. Understand "boring, ugly, plain, uninteresting or fastidious". Yet looking at the old and new versions side by side, it's obviously much better now. Take those Roman and Virgil ones for example. I did get better. It's not even ugly, even though it's low effort. I've been proud of worse.

My brain just makes a shortcut from "I'm bored and uninterested and frustrated" to "I'm bored and uninterested and frustrated because this is boring, uninteresting and therefore frustrating". It's like it's finding itself excuses not to draw, or do crochet, or sculpt, or make origami, or read, or watch videos, or talk to people (that includes answering most messages with less than three weeks intervals). Apparently it's "nothing concerning" according to my shrink, since I can still wake up and go to work. But I'm freaking bored.
Also I always get very depresso in September, worsens in January, peaks in February, gets better in April, rinse and repeat. Thank god for Only Friends airing now, my little brother's existence and immaculate taste in music, and my growing interest in tanks. Dunno what I'd do without those guys.
