Slow dancing for the soft prompts?

“C’mon, up you get.”

Eddie’s voice cuts through the gentle hiss of rain against the windows and the soft staticky music leaking from the small radio perched next to the fridge. 

Buck lifts his head from where it had been resting on his folded arms, blearily searching the now dark kitchen for his husband. He can feel the beginnings of a headache pounding in his temples and his mouth feels like he swallowed sand. 

“Wha– what time is it?” Buck asks, throat clicking as he tries to rewet his mouth. 

Scrubbing his hands over his face, Buck twists in his kitchen chair to look at the clock hanging on the wall. It takes him a moment to read the small numbers, but when he does finally manage it he’s surprised to see how late it is. He had planned to already have dinner ready, but the remnants of half completed prep is strewn around the countertops. Halfway through preparing the food, Buck had to sit down at the kitchen table — the ache in his leg becoming too persistent to ignore.  

“It’s time for you to go to bed,” Eddie hums, smoothing a warm palm across Buck's shoulders. Buck leans into the contact, shifting toward Eddie’s warmth like a sunflower seeking the sun. 

“Mm— not tired,” Buck mumbles, tilting his head up for a kiss. 

Eddie complies with the request, easily planting one against Buck’s lips before asking, “oh really? Why were you sleeping on the table then?” 

Buck sags, knee and hip twinging as if to remind him why. “I was just resting.” 

Calloused fingers card through his probably wildly unkempt curls, and Buck finds him sinking more and more against the solid warmth of Eddie pressed against him. Just when he thinks he could actually nod off like this, Eddie breaks the silence. 

“Is your leg bothering you?” 

Biting his lip, Buck sighs as he spins his wedding band around his finger. The warm metal glints in the lowlight of the hall light filtering into the kitchen. There are more days than not that his leg ends up bothering him. But that’s to be expected when he had fallen through the floor of a burning warehouse and landed on his previously crushed leg. Today is just particularly bad. 

Buck had known it was coming, had woken up with the telltale stiffness in his joints. But he had ignored it, not bothering to do any of the stretches his PT had taught him, hoping to muscle through like he used to be able to do. He knows that was stupid of him. There’s a small curl of embarrassment settling in his belly, and he debates not telling Eddie. He doesn’t even have a good reason he can provide for why he didn’t do anything. Not one he can articulate at least. 

In the end, he decides he doesn’t like lying to Eddie, even by omission. “Yeah, it is.” 

“Did you do your stretches?” 

Buck’s silence is answer enough and Eddie nods to himself. “Okay, c’mere.” 

Eddie gets a big hand wrapped around Buck’s bicep and helps him stand from the kitchen chair. Buck goes willingly, letting Eddie pull him up and into his arms. 

At first, he thinks they’re just embracing, and he’s not complaining about it, soaking up all the heat radiating off of his husband. Then Eddie starts rearranging Buck’s arms, getting them loosely looped around his neck before Eddie’s palms slide to Buck’s waist, holding him gently. 

The music coming from the radio is low, too low for Buck to identify the song that’s playing. But he can hear enough to realize that Eddie is moving them in a slow shuffling rhythm around the kitchen that matches the staticky rhythm humming through tinny speakers. 

“Babe, what are you doing?” 

“Dancing— we’re dancing,” Eddie replies, swaying their bodies together as they rock side to side. 

Buck shoots Eddie an incredulous look, but he just leans forward and kisses it off Buck’s face. “We can do your stretches instead, if you would like?” 

With a laugh, Buck shakes his head fondly. “You’re ridiculous,” he mutters, but continues to follow Eddie’s lead, letting himself be slowly spun around the kitchen. 

It helps. The ache doesn’t leave him entirely, but the stiffness slowly bleeds from his joints — the slow gentle movements of their “dancing” and the warmth of Eddie helping to ease the persistent discomfort. 

Gradually, Buck finds himself relaxing, allowing more of his weight to settle on his husband. Eddie accepts it gracefully, a pillar of strength against Buck. 

“There you go, baby,” Eddie murmurs, pressing a kiss to Buck’s temple. 

Tucking his head into the hollow of Eddie’s throat, Buck sighs out, “thank you.” 

“Always,” Eddie says as if it’s just that easy. 

Maybe it is.

“I ordered sushi from your favourite place,” Eddie says. “Figured it would be easier in case I had to hand feed you.” The gentle tease in Eddie’s tone makes Buck feel warm all over. “Thank you, sir. You thought of everything.” A veritable feast of sushi rolls are presented to Buck’s mouth. Eddie even dips the rolls in soy sauce, making a mess of his fingers in the process. He alternates between feeding Buck and eating himself, occasionally offering Buck a piece of ginger to clear his palate. Buck always enjoys when they get takeout from this place but the food tastes even better today. Or maybe anything would taste amazing as long as Eddie was lovingly feeding it to him. After the last roll is placed in Buck’s mouth, Buck oh so helpfully sucks on Eddie’s fingers, swirling his tongue around them to get them clean.  Eddie groans quietly in his ear. “Good boy, Buck.” Smiling to himself, Buck snuggles even further back against Eddie’s chest as he continues to lick at Eddie’s fingers. Eddie’s other arm wraps around Buck’s torso to hold him close. Buck can feel Eddie getting hard again, his dick starting to press insistently against Buck’s ass through the thin sweatpants. Idylly, Buck wonders just how much of his come Eddie’s planning on plugging inside him today. He shifts his hips experimentally, grinning when he feels Eddie tense behind him. “Give a guy a minute,” Eddie chuckles.

@catchaspark tagged me to post nine fave movies of 2024! at first I wasn't sure that I'd actually watched nine movies in 2024 but then I remembered that in a fugue state we watched all three zombies dcoms, and also descendants rise of red with @kismetnemesis.

thoughts about these: oh my god I've got to watch more movies.

design for living was as delightful a pre-code threesome romp as everyone says it is

I saw the TV Glow cored me like an apple, fabulous movie I will never be able to watch again

challengers: another threesome movie but this time it's rancid and fucked up. had a great time. my god does everyone sweat

the fall guy is an entirely forgettable action romance I watched on a plane. I'm glad we're all celebrating the folks behind the camera but I wish we'd done it in a better movie.

practical magic: the number of times this has been used as a cozy fanfic au setting did not prepare me for how much this is a movie about very gnarly domestic abuse!

descendants rise of red: not my favorite of the descendants movies. I wait with bated breath for alix's YouTube miniseries about the insane geopolitics of the descendants universe. Aladdin and Jasmine are just there??

hot frosty: watched this as a joke but it was actually really fun? I had a good time. obvious caveats about hallmark Christmas movies being restoration fantasies etc etc but I like to see a man be born sexy yesterday and also I was delighted by how horny all the old people in this movie were.

annual rewatch of princess switch 3: the tango scene remains the best scene in all of cinema. truly impressed with vanessa hudgens' ability to act like three different people often in scenes with herself. I'm only sorry I couldn't find a poster with Peter on it.

wicked: I don't really need to say anything about this movie that hasn't already been said do I? Ariana grande has perhaps been possessed by glinda and someone should check on that.

I didn't do write-ups for zombies 1-3 but while they're terrible movies they are kind of fascinating to watch. I love to try to figure out what is happening in a script, politically. they should stop making bonzo assimilate.

CalazCon!: A Mega Game Actual Play

As Operation Cromwell prepared one final push to defeat the Jovangellian resistance, CalazCon's surprise assault threw everyone's plans into chaos…

You think you've seen a big actual play? You haven't seen anything like this!

CalazCon is a Beam Saber mega game series featuring 30 players across 6 play groups. Each squad battles against the occupying nomadic media convention, CalazCon, while trying to win the hearts and minds of the locals on behalf of the Democratic Federated Systems (DFS). Their choices will affect each other through the course of their shared campaign. Can they liberate the city together, or will they be consumed by the con alone?

The show will launch on Monday August 5th, 2024 on Youtube and your podcatcher of choice!

The show features incredible art from @bfleuter, Cory "Hadrian" McDaniel, and @dancy-nrew!

Structure

The show has a cyclical format. Each play group, called  a ”squad” will conduct a Mission, followed by a Downtime session, and then the squads' legislators will vote on what happens next.

The Missions take the form of traditional Beam Saber missions. Player characters, called “pilots”, get into danger, struggle to get out of it, and help each other overcome obstacles. At the end, they gain their rewards and suffer the fallout of their actions.

The Downtimes also use the normal Beam Saber format. After a harrowing mission, the pilots take this moment of quiet to recover, fix their vehicles, cut loose with fellow pilots, pursue their long term projects, and generally develop their relationships with each other.

Once every squad has completed one Mission AND one Downtime, their legislators gather for a parliamentary session. Each squad's legislator gets a chance to make public speeches and private deals to further the goals of the DFS, the squad they represent, or their own personal desires. There are only so many votes they can cast, so some pursuits will have to be left by the wayside.

Once the votes are tallied, the goals are set, and passed along to the squads as objectives that they must pursue in their next Mission, beginning the cycle anew.

The first ten episodes will be released one each week day for two weeks, so that the audience can meet the cast as soon as possible, then the show will switch to a twice weekly release schedule.

CalazCon launches on Monday August 5th, so don't miss out on this innovative mega game actual play!

Omg “buck and Bobby hug” wip? -@try-set-me-on-fire

i love this one <3 post lightning strike buck suffers maybe just a smidgen of separation anxiety. On a call Bobby gets hurt (not bad) and ends up in the hospital to get checked out and no one tells buck because they don't want to stress him out. Spoiler alert: it stresses him out.

Bobby is probably just busy at work. Maybe he’s busy at a scene, or maybe he’s just caught up in some paperwork and not looking at his phone. Yeah…yeah. That has to be it, that’s why Bobby isn’t texting him back.  Buck stares at the black screen, chewing his lip. Bobby is busy and he doesn’t need Buck bothering him.  He picks up his phone, swiping it open — the screen still filled with his text message thread with Bobby. The string of unanswered texts makes an uncomfortable feeling prickle in the back of his throat.

can i ask for your help on kind of a weird thing ? if this is like too weird or you just don’t know you can just ignore this lol.

but i’ve been wanting to get a fatt-themed tattoo at some point, something symbolically representative of fatt but not overtly a Media Reference yk, and i was toying around with the idea of getting a partizan with russian sage incorporated around it, and i’m pretty happy with that, but i feel like it needs at least something else? so my question is, do you have any advice or ideas on what to add, or any completely different ideas on a subtle fatt tattoo? thanks for any help in advance!!!! 😊
