Hello! I don't have any new words to share from Basil Pitch's Diary, but thought I'd share the BPD plot timeline that lives over my desk. Here it is, redacted but for one spoiler.

I just needed to physically move things around to grasp what could / should go when. When I finish writing an event, the paper slip comes down. (It's not to scale in terms of chronology--this started about halfway through the story.) At this point I've changed a lot and it's out of date but I've kept it up for inspiration. I mean--look at him! He deserves an HEA.

Good morning! I woke up to lovely tags from @artsyunderstudy , @monbons , @emeryhall , @facewithoutheart , @run-for-chamo-miles and @roomwithanopenfire ! We're deep into May Grey (which will soon become June Gloom) over here. Even though it happens every year, I'm constantly asking myself if it'll rain every morning.

My ideas for COBB and COAR are marinating in the background this week. I got slightly sidetracked by a different project. I just bought tickets for the family to see Peter Pan this summer and I had the harebrained idea to make new dresses for the girls. Little Purple picked Wendy and Littlest Purple picked Tinkerbell, in true oldest and youngest fashion. As I was sketching these I had Littlest Purple yelling in my ear to remind me that Tinkerbell's dress has zig zags on the bottom. Her creative director skills leave something to be desired. I can't wait to cover these dresses in so many rhinestones!

Naturally, thinking about Peter Pan makes me think of @mooncello 's fic, lost boys. If you haven't read it, you definitely should!

It's also Stitch Sunday and I've also made progress on my current knitting project! While I love the brioche stitch, it's so slow going. You're essentially knitting half a row at a time, so it takes twice as many rows as usual. I consider myself a pretty speedy knitter and it's still taking forever. It's also reached the size that it's now confined to being a home project and I need a new on the go project.

AWTWB Fan Illustrated Edition!!

Heyo! I’m back! With the final (for now) instalment of my makeshift illustrated editions. This one is for the third and my personal favorite book in the Simon Snow Series, Any Way the Wind Blow by the amazing @rainbowrowell!!

Just like last time if you’re tagged, your art is in it!

This is essentially me putting the art pieces to the lines in the book to show the beautiful words and the beautiful art at once.

DISCLAIMER!!! This time, I managed to find out my local library allows me to print pages of colored documents for only 10 cents (woot woot) so the image quality is much better. HOWEVER, if you don’t see an art piece you believe should be on there or have seen before or even made, it is not because I don’t like the art or artist, it’s because I simply missed it when finding art or forgot to put it on a page to print.

This was by far the hardest one to complete, it took a total of 6 and a half months to complete. Two months to find all the art, 3 to glue it all in, 1 month taking photos and labeling, and a half month putting it all in collages and creating the artist credits.

AND IT WAS WORTH IT!! it looks great and it’s amazing to see all the art next to their source material.

Just like the other two times, each piece has a number on it that correlates to the credit page

WIP Wednesday (I actually should upload a screenshot of my master’s thesis but is too boring, so) First, thank you so much for all the support you gave us Lee and me with your kind words, :) they meant the world. Truly, thank you!! I'm dead. DEAD. De-cea-sed. I'm so tired because I'm an inch away from the end of this term of my master 1st semester and OH BOY! It's been a rollercoaster of emotions! I love studying again, but I have forgotten how stressful it can be. And on top of that, I have a full time job and a love for this fandom, so I am truly dying in my efforts to keep up with everything! A pre-Valentine’s Day gift from the both of us to all of you. We are so incredibly excited to share our very first art collaboration - starring Baz Pitch as imagined by @dancingwdinosaurs and Simon Snow as imagined by @vkelleyart​. Presenting their first kiss in the forest from @rainbowrowell‘s Carry On.

VKelleyart: This technically all began with a chat. We��d gushed over each other’s artwork via a public ask when I decided to take my fangirling offline and PM @dancingwdinosaurs​ directly about how much I admired her beautiful work. At some point during our early conversations, I mentioned offhand how neat it would be to create something together one day, as I used to do Harry Potter art collaborations with an artist friend years ago. She was intrigued, so I tried to sell the idea based on my past experiences. I told her that collaborating on art in this manner - passing it back and forth without a clue how it will look in the end - is a leap of faith. The outcome is a miraculous fusion of creative energy, and is ALWAYS beautiful and mind-blowing for the way it brings together the artists as well as the art.

Thankfully, she said she was game. I took a crack at a composition and passed it to her, and when she sent the file back, I literally teared up at the sight of her beautiful Baz sitting below the tree. Every time she returned the file was an opportunity to fangirl anew. (Our private chats could probably be summed up as “joyful caps-lock squealing.”) 

I mean, can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that behind Simon’s legs are these incredible FEET?:

Anyway, I’m so grateful she took the leap with me. This art has been a little blessing on the side for the last several months, as it let me bear witness to DWD’s incredible talent and exposed me to her kindness, humor, and generosity. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in creating this picture. And now, I can call her a friend as well. ❤️ -VK-

dancingwdinosaurs: Okay. Okay Okay OKAY. I think it´s fair to say that as soon as @vkelleyart popped up on my dashboard for the first time I was hooked - as everybody else was, probably. I was basically gushing over every single new piece of art she created because the way she portrays these characters feels so real and full of emotions and RIGHT. As a result, I had a real moment of “holy shit it´s senpai!” when she eventually popped into my DM´s, hahaha! :D Her idea of doing a collab was absolutely amazing and I´m actually so so thankful for her to even consider doing this with me because if I´m honest, I am a bit of a mess of an artist. I had never done this before and was actually TERRIFIED I´d scare her off the second she´d see my 300 unnamed layers (luckily, I didn´t :D). Working together on this project has been an actual delight and so so much fun. I really want to thank Venessa for her patience, her creativity and all the lovely lovely words that were shared in the process of doing this. There were times were I felt incredibly insecure about my art (or just had a shitty day in general, really) and she was always so very supportive, kind, patient and uplifting. Her art and skill never cease to amaze me and I am so looking forward to working with her more often in the future. wink wink. Thank you for doing this with me - and just thank you for existing, really! 💓

Happy Mother’s Day to those who celebrate! It’s both my Super Bowl and a complicated day for me. Both @confused-bi-queer and I are very proud and passionate about our arts and crafts, and we were able to find each other in this realm of creation, bonding over our culture.

We both cherish a job well done. But overall, is enjoyment and personal fulfillment what we seek. So when we noticed our mental health was being compromised, we decided to wait a bit for this release that we are crafting with so much care.

Life has been rough lately, and the end of this year is eating us alive. For a very good story to be told and represented, our minds need clarity and be in a good place, so we both agreed to wait a bit. Best things are worth the waiting (Baz taught us this!!)

So yes, this story and art are happening! But early next year (2023 OMG). We are still deciding the actual date, so please don't lose your interest, we are so close to show you a bit of our culture through our boys! SS and RB sparked and spiked our need to create and reminded us this is totally worth it!!

So yes, please bear with us. We are doing this! :D
