For #InternationalDanceDay, a detail from a page of Choregraphie, a book first published in 1700 which details a dance notation system invented in the 1680s at the court of Louis XIV. Its author, Raoul-Auger Feuillet, was maître de danse of the French King. In 1704 another maître de danse, Pierre Beauchamp, filed a formal complaint, arguing that Feuillet had taken credit for what was in fact Beauchamp’s invention. The system, which survived in modified forms into the 1780s, is now known as Beauchamp-Feuillet notation. It indicates the placement of the feet and six basic leg movements: plié, releveé, sauté, cabriole, tombé, and glissé. Changes of body direction and numerous ornamentations of the legs and arms are also part of the system, which is based on tract drawings that trace the pattern of the dance. Additionally, bar lines in the dance score correspond to bar lines in the music score. Signs written on the right or left hand side of the tract indicate the steps. Delphi Dance Academy

Founded in 1926 by Irish-Korean modern dancer Dearbhla Choi, The Delphi Dance Academy is the official school of The Delphic Dance Company and is one of South Korea’s top centres of excellence for modern, ballet and contemporary dance training. 

Innovative music and community engagement are crucial components of the Delphi Dance Group (DDG). The DDG's repertory ranges from 17th and 18th century works by Arcangelo Corelli and Antonio Vivaldi to more contemporary scores by Hildur Guonadóttir, Kaija Saariaho, and Unsuk Chin.

To make sure that its activities are accessible to everyone, The Delphi Dance Academy is committed to continued work on inclusion, equity, and diversity.

BTS : FIRE [Dance Notes]

Hello! I thought I should try something new and create some dance notes and tips for certain dances. If you enjoy them or if they’ve helped in any way please tell me! THANK YOU! 

BTS : FIRE DANCE NOTES~

COUNT : Count from 1 to 8 - In the beginning count 4 SETS of 8 and after that you cant count normal. Example : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 - 2 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 (do this 4 times) and then count normal : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 (for the rest of the song) 

START: 

Stay still for 2 SETS of 8 and then start rising up at the first number “1″ of the 3rd SET; it should take 8 counts to get up. Once you hit the 4th SET of 8 just stay still (look at the camera/crowd and pose!)

[depending on who you choose to follow your member will be facing different ways during the part above] 

NEXT PART : The lyrics will begin to say FIRE~ 

You will be facing to your left. *On count ONE you will pull your arms UP and OUT and step with your RIGHT foot forward [I’m following Jungkook for this so depending on who you’re following it will differ. The member you follow may step with their RIGHT foot to the side rather than forward]. On count TWO you will pull your arms IN and step with your LEFT foot forward.* 

Repeat the ** section for counts 3 and 4 - 5 and 6. 

Jump up by kicking your RIGHT foot forward on count SEVEN while bring your arms around (in a circle) your arms will end in a circle sort of shape with your palms down and then land on your left foot on count ONE.

leg extension parallel to floor chest contraction attitude right leg forward and weight shift. high left extension with torso at a low diagonal with parallel arms breathing out. energy rises over the left foot to fall onto it in a deep lunge. quick rise and turn with energy upward, landing on leg with back foot in a deep b+ connect top of foot to the ground twice, jump back with arms circle over head. one arm trails behind and connects with the leg to bring it to an extension and attitude forward, land, reverse momentum and spin out of it with a diagonal reach in the chest. 3 point turn with right arm, left on top, left circles in the turn to shoot upward. Hand is in a space hold, and body falls left to a lunge with the right leg forward. reset. reset. jump with the left leg circling forward. Land, another circling attitude jump.
