you weren't sure when everything felt like it was falling apart. it just felt like someone had moved everything in your life three inches to the right—not jarring enough to make a difference but irritable enough that you were spending time your friday night crying on the couch.

this whole week had just been a complete fuck-up. the worst part was that when now you were trying to sleep, you just couldn't.

it felt unnerving, and somehow the tears come out yet again. as your hand bunches up the bedsheet under your body, you let out a broken sob, trying you muffle the sound with your other hand even though there was no one here. you get up, wiping away the tears on your cheeks with the back of your hands as you walk towards the kitchen, pouring yourself a glass of water so you could feel better. whenever it got this bad, the walls around you felt like they were closing in. it felt like you couldn’t breathe, that someone had their hands around your neck. and, were slowly but surely, pressing harder and harder by the second.

but when there was a certain someone around, his eyes peering into yours as his voice whispered for you to breathe, you would feel that the hands on your neck were never really there after all. 

“damn it, kento,” you mumble, putting down the glass on the counter as you try your best to visualize him holding you in his arms. his hands on your cheeks, wiping away stray tears. 

you sniff, leaning against the counter as you’ve done several times before. but back then, he would be standing next to the stove. making tea for the two of you so you can spend some time together before succumbing to sleep. 

you want to call him, you really do, but he was gone because of an emergency. whatever problems you had could wait, right? all you had were small issues that built up over time and tumbled down on you today. what nanami was dealing with was probably far worse. 

you sigh, covering your face with your hands. when you begin to put them away, you notice the note he’d left for you on the fridge this morning. you smile when you read it for the—probably—hundredth time. 

you decide to send him a text instead of calling, letting out a breathy laugh as you type it out.

going to sleep now, miss you <3

his reply is almost instant.
