"Bellamy's Twikkii Island inspired Family Restaurant. What do you want? I mean, how can I help you?"

Theo rolled his eyes, barely listening to the voice on the other end of the phone. It was Saturday and Adam had invited him to spend time in Pleasantview with his family, which Theo would much rather be doing. Instead, his parents had insisted that he come home for the weekend as scheduled to help with the opening of Roman and Adrian's new joint venture. Business had been slow, staff hadn't shown up and they were losing money. Theo had been appointed to greet guests and answer the phone, a task he resented. Barely anyone called the restaurant and the few that did had complicated requests that Theo wasn't sure how to navigate. So when Theo couldn't understand or hear a customer, he simply hung up. He wasn't getting paid for this shift anyway. His father had told him that it would be his way to repay the family some of the expensive tuition they spent on his schooling and Adrian had uncharacteristically remained firm as well. 

A sudden crash tore Theo's attention from the phone and he quickly hung up the phone to investigate. 

Damien Hydes was busy cringing and trying to fish salad from a well dressed visitor to Arkhelios. Theo had seen him talking to Aunt Wanda before, using the name Maricourt in their conversation. The Maricourts were a famously powerful line of witches and warlocks from all over the globe. They were powerful and smart and dangerous, and Adam just happened to have Maricourt blood in his veins too.

Theo often wondered about what his and Adam's kids would look like if they got together. With a warlock for one parent and a demon studying blood magic for the other, their kids would be the stuff of legends. Pretty cute too, if they took after Adam. Would Theo keep his last name when they got married? He was technically the heir to the Bellamy estate in Arkhelios, but if Adam wasn't interested in that, he could always pass the title to one of his little sisters. Theodosius Ulysses Maricourt had a certain ring to it. No, Theodosius Ulysses Maricourt-Darktide. That was better. Their first kid could have Bellamy as a middle name so Great Grandma Malika didn't burst out of Adrienne's Ouija board and murder them for leaving the Bellamy name in the dust.

"I'd like a table for two please."

Theo snapped abruptly out of his fantasy and back to the cold reality where he wasn't married to his best friend. His great-aunt Darcy was staring at him expectantly for some reason.

"What?"

"I'd like a table for two, Theo," Darcy repeated, looking annoyed. "It's date night for your uncle and I, and we really want to support your father."

Her husband is named Adam. It must be nice to be able to say "my husband, Adam". This is my boyfriend, Adam. I'm Adam's partner.

"Theo? Do you have a table for us? I can seat myself if it's too hard to sort out."

Theo blinked, snapping back to reality for the second time in two minutes. 

"There’s a table over there," Theo replied, gesturing broadly towards a row of booths. "You can try over there if you want." 

"Another order is up!" Tennyson announced, inspecting a cup to ensure it was clean. Working with Roman was a bit of a side hustle for Tennyson, who mostly wanted to stay on the good side of the rich Bellamy family. If this job didn’t work out, it was no big deal. It was good to see the Hydes boy out as well. His twin brother was away at school while Damien chose to remain in Arkhelios.

Roman nodded and added the new order to the list of orders he was juggling already. Cooking and baking for his family was one thing. It was a lot more hectic preparing meals for strangers on demand. 

"Okay, this one should be ready to go," he replied, passing a plate to Damien to serve. "Try not to drop this order too. We only have so many plates."

"Theo, have you seen your sister lately?"

Theo barely looked up from the phone he was suddenly clinging to. Adrian probably wasn't there to yell at him, but Theo had more pressing concerns to deal with. After getting bored of working, he had summoned the courage to call Adam just to chat. Adam hadn't hung up even after they'd exhausted every topic they could think of and talking to him was a much more enjoyable way to pass the time.

"Which one? I have a billion sisters between you and Evren and Dad," he replied snarkily. "How am I supposed to keep track of them? You're the grown-up."

Adrian sighed, pinching his nose and focusing his attention on not strangling the teenager who had made it clear that he didn't want to be there.

"Saturnia. Have you seen Saturnia?" he asked. When Theo shook his head, Adrian sighed again and walked away to continue his search for Roman's daughter. The twins and Fiolett were accounted for and Abe was being babysat along with Adrian and Evren's boys, leaving only Saturnia. 

"Saturnia? Where are you?"

Adrian's search ended quickly, having spotted the missing child outside, entertaining something that shouldn't be hanging around food and hungry guests.

Tabitha Durant, or perhaps Tabitha Chun to be generous to the woman who had stolen away Ian Chun from Elaine, was standing, groaning repeatedly at the child. After his own brush with death, zombies were the creatures Adrian hated most to come across. Witches and demons were attractive and powerful, while zombies were powerless and uncomfortable to even look at. Tabitha had technically been Saturnia's step grandmother in life, but to imagine leaving the girl alone with a walking body of rotating flesh was unthinkable.

"Saturnia! Come here, it's not safe!"

While Adrian took off after Theo's little sister, the teen returned his focus to his phone call.

"Sorry Adam, my stupid step-father thinks I should know where my hoard of siblings are at all times."

To his horror, there was no reply. The dial tone haunted Theo's ears. Adam had hung up on him. Adam hadn't been able to wait for Theo to answer his step-father. Adam was bored of him. 

Theo cringed, trying not to panic. Surely he had accidentally hung up or the line was dead for the entire block. Someone probably ran their car into the phone network box on the street outside. That was definitely better than Adam hanging up on him.

"Theo? How's your shift going now? I saw your stepdad yelling at a zombie outside, so we can talk, right?"

Theo's heart skipped a beat and threatened to stop altogether.

"Adam? You're here?"

Thank whatever god or mystical force that allowed witches to teleport in the blink of an eye. After their conversation had been interrupted once again by the business of running a restaurant, Adam had come to see his friend in person. Theo blinked and tried to think of something cool to say. He blinked again, completely blanking on how to speak when Adam smiled at him.

"Hi." It was lame, but at least it was a word.

"I was hoping to get a table here," Adam said kindly, seeing that Theo's brain was slowly trying to reboot itself and failing. "You're welcome to join me if you want."

Dinner with Adam? He's asking me to dinner? As friends or is this a date? It's probably just out of pity for having to stay here and help. He's such a good friend, that's all this is.

"Yes. I'll find something," Theo promised before being cut off by Adam wrapping his arms around him in a hug. He honestly thought he might die of the complicated feelings rushing to his head.

"Great, it's always good to eat your dad's cooking. Mine is the worst at it, despite being a potion master. I'm sure he won't mind me charging a dinner to him that's actually worth eating."

Damien is absolutely a scaredy cat and I mean that in the most affectionate way possible. Also the irony is not lost on me for the reasoning for hating horror movies.

Damien sees you sifting through DVDs on the couch and he groans, wiping his face with his hand.

“It is that day, gosh darn it…”

“Mhmm. You promised!”

“And I am starting to wish I had not…”

He had promised to watch one horror movie with you, which is more than you thought you were going to get from him considering how much he hates horror. You’re not going to be cruel about it since you don’t really want to psychologically scar him, but it’s going to be a little scary. You flip through your DVD binders, looking for a B-rated movie, or something that will hopefully get more laughs than actual scares. 

“Why do you hate horror movies so much?”

“Darling, I saw Jekyll and Hyde when it came out, and after that I decided it was not for me. Not to mention I was not particularly a fan of the idea of one man having an inner battle between two people on whether to be a hero and save people, or a villain that harms innocents.”

“Well, alright. Here, this one didn’t get great reviews and should be a little funny. Ease you into horror.”

Damien sighs with relief.

“I appreciate you not throwing me into the deep end, dearheart.”

“Why would I? I’m hoping this won’t be the only time you’ll watch one of these with me!”

“Oh dear…”

You stand up and give him a quick kiss, putting the DVD into the video player. After the player whirs to life, you return to the couch, throwing a blanket over your legs as Damien sits next to you. On the table is a small spread of snacks, and you pull the bowl of popcorn into your lap. Damien puts a blanket around his shoulders, trying to relax into the couch cushions. His arm rests over your shoulders, and you can feel how tense his muscles are against your skin.

“Deep breaths, Damien. I’ll turn it off if you get too scared.”

“No… I am a grown man. I just- dislike uncanny humanoids…”

“Well you’re not alone, otherwise they wouldn’t use it as the premise for the movie.”

“Fair enough.”

As the movie continues, you hold one of his hands in yours while he uses the other to occasionally hide behind, peeking between his fingers. All things considered, the occasional chuckle at the jokes eases your chances of convincing him into another movie. You do eventually get him to lay his head in your lap, combing your fingers through his hair and turning his head away from the screen when something scary happens on screen, pulling his focus back to you. He opens his mouth for you to drop popcorn in, and he laughs as you comply.

“If this is the treatment I receive just for participating in a scary movie night, perhaps I can be convinced into a second date.”

“Oh can you now?”

“Unless I start shaking in terror at the spooks on screen, I will be alright.”

Damien takes your hand and presses kisses to each of your knuckles, resting your palm against his lips as his attention turns back to the screen. You feel him jump and hide under the blanket as a jumpscare happens, and you can’t help but laugh a little bit as you calm him down again with some scalp scratches. 

“Alright, the monster’s gone, Dames.”

“I dislike the scares immensely.”

“That’s not terribly surprising considering you’re hiding under the blanket right now.”

“Technicalities.”

Ok first of all are there any sorts of rivalries between them or are they one big happy family? Pretty much are there any notable relationships between them?

Also I have to ask about Hector Jekyll and Edgar Hyde because I loveee Jekyll and Hyde so so much. Anyways, is it like the original novella where they are pretty much one person but they switch and change both physically and mentally? If so, had this always been happening or was there a potion of some sorts (like in the novella) that caused this? You can also mention other stuff about them if you want :))

they are NOT one big happy family uh. lets see

everyone hates hector (and edgar). oh and on this point, they are in one body, but they switch! it started more as like.. a bit more similar to how something like did works (i dont know everything about did so take what i say with a grain of salt, and this character is NOT a system), but as the changes got more frequent, more differences in their physical appearances started showing up until they basically look like different people. it was not a potion (unfortunately), just something that started happening!

you cant see it in this but hectors eyes are green and edgars as blue (also old ass drawing im sorry)

anyway! back to rivalries! wirt and hector specifically fucking HATE eachother

jesse hates everyone except mary (and edie, because shes marys friend)

tato is bitchy to most people but doesnt hate any of them. wirt does not like them though, and harley is scared of her

there is some overall bad blood towards nessie after a.... certain event.. but before then, everyone loves her

as for notable relationships!!

wirt and tammy are siblings, obviously

tammy and damien dated once, but it didnt work out. theyre still friendly, though

nessie and lunar have a very sibling relationship

wirt looks up to lunar a lot (lunar does not see himself as a role model and it scares him)

as stated earlier, jesse is super protective over mary, like a guard dog and edie is bffs with mary

harley is besties with wirt, and kinda treats edie like a younger sister when he gets to know her

edie clings to lunar and treats him like an older brother/almost father figure

miss gray is very much like a grandma figure to everyone, but especially carmilla since she was raised there. nessie is like an older sister to her

the horse girls are like. fun cool older cousins to nessie. they helped her with her social transition

tato and lily are dating (but theres one little thing putting their relationship on the rocks... youll see)

Little secret

Summary: In 1850, a relationship between gentleman and maid are forbidden, but that doesn´t stop Damien and Lucy, the maid of his sister to ignore the romantic tension.

“Lucy.” he said when he approached me. I stroked over the fluffy ears of Butterfly, my favorite horse in the stables of my ladys lands.

“Mr. Belton, Sir.” I managed to say the appropriate salutation, before he hectically looked around and his lips met mine in a steamy kiss. Butterfly stayed calm, he watched us for the hundredth time doing something we shouldn't be doing. 

Damiens scent of old books and cinnamon mixed up with the smell of horses and hay, this must be heaven. A heaven, I will only have in my dreams and secret moments like these.

1850, a maid was not allowed to have a fling with her lady´s brother. It was dirty, forbidden. But, goddamn it felt so right. His lips on mine, my body pressed against Butterflys box. 

“Damien.” I moaned his name. The way he kissed me made me forget my very own name or the fact that we weren't allowed to be doing whatever we were doing for the past year. 

There was no future for a couple like us. No place in the world. In intimate moments like these, he often talked about how in other countries, there weren't such things as maid and gentleman, everybody could love who he wanted. 

For a moment, I thought of how beautiful it would be to live in a far away place and have a life with Damien. But in the blink of an eye, we had to stand at least one meter apart from one another and I had to follow his orders, not look him in the eyes.

The love for horses, that's what makes us us. Whenever I was in the stables, Damien managed to get away from his father or teacher and met me in this dusty place. Sometimes, we just talked. About what was going on in our lives we shared, but still had to live apart from one another. 

At times like these, when he was kissing me with so much longing inside of him, I knew he needed me. He needed me, just like I needed him. Right by my side, taking long walks in Hyde Park or riding horses together. 

It was a dream, not worth fighting for, we both knew that. But we couldn't stay away from each other. I like to believe, we were made for each other like my lady and her significant other, she already presented to her parents. 

Damien let go of me, his ice blue looking right into mine, with so much love, so much desire. My heart clenched, I wanted this man in front of me to be mine so badly, it made me sick. 

“I love you.” For me, these words meant pain. It meant being indefinitely loved by a person to whom it is forbidden to have romantic feelings for you. 

“I love you too.” I buried my small hands in his dark brown hair, trying to remember this moment forever so I could relive it whenever I wanted it. 

“My father will soon be here.” 

He didn't have to say it, I knew it with just one look in his tired eyes. “I have to go.” 

To hide my tears from him, I skipped the space between us again and touched his lips. His touch was the only way to be alive in a killing world like this, but he pulled away.

With his hand, he softly wiped away the hot tears running down my cheek and then walked away from me, not without giving me one last longing look as he left. 

“See you later.” he mouthed, before turning back around and leaving me alone with my tears.

That was the moment I knew it. We were what the world called “Soulmates”. Destined for one another, but from society meant to stay away from each other.
