Is It Osomatsu Summer Yet?

If you make it to the end of this i'm impressed.😆

Okay so I don't really want it to be cause where i live I am going to be miserable buuuuuuut, the Summer Anime Season is where I am looking cause among my many returning animes is Osomatsu-san, a pretty niche anime in the West but beloved by Japan so much that is made a come back 80 years later and is now on it's 4th season!😲

Originally called Osomatsu-kun back in the 60's, Osomatsu-san is about six identical sibling brothers and their daily lives of being NEETS and a burden on the world they live in. It's a slice of life that can be really funny if you get the jokes. It has an amazing cast including my number one seiyū Sakurai Takahiro- san! As per usual he is the one that got me into watching this anime! He voices the oldest Matsu brother and is the namesake of the series as a whole!

Although they do wear matching outfits at times as a nod to the original anime they are color coded and have unique personalities to tell them apart. Here listed are the names, colors, personalities and who voices them.

Sakurai Takahiro-san does the voice of the biggest NEET out of all of the brothers. He's also addicted to Pachiko.

Also the voice of Gojo sensei, Nakamura Yūichi-san gives this brother a cool nature...or tries to.

Kamiya Hiroshi-san is the voice of kind of the most boring brother for me. I don't know he just does not stand out as much as the others in personality.

Fukuyama Jun-san bring this eternally depressed brother to life and he is low key probably my second fav brother.

Knowing Ono Daisuke-san, there was no yellow highlight color, from a character like Sebastian Michelas it threw me for such a loop to hear him, and see his live, voice such a dopey airheaded character. Like it really showed his range to me!

The youngest and most adorable brother and my third fav he actually has a job and tries to be the opposite of his oldest brother. He is voiced by Irino Miyu-san.

There are a ton of live events too from the series and even not translated you can see how much fun everyone is having and really getting into their character. This is why I say when you change a seiyū for a character you are not just changing their voice but you are changing the whole character so it is not the same anymore.😖

They often go on stage with their counterparts from the anime and have contests and silly games they play which I end up laughing so hard at cause these are grown ass men near my age and they act like this for a living! Ugh, so jealous!

Anyway so that's my post on one of my fav anime series as well as the seiyū's who voice it. I don't know who is gonna get to the end of this but I hope if not the anime itself you will have more appreciation for the people that give the characters life. That's the true goal of an seiyū otaku.

Daisuke Ono, animation producer Yoshito Ito and director Kenjiro Okada are invited to appear and hold a talk on July 6 at 2 pm in the Diamond Ballroom.

Many big names in the Japanese voice acting industry are going to be there too like Takahiro Sakurai (Claude of Kuroshitsuji II, Geto Suguru, Rohan, Shogo of Psycho Pass, etc.), Asami Seto (Kugisaki Nobara), Hiroki Nanami (Hamayu of The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master, Oscar of The Rose of Versailles), Enoki EnoJun Junya (yeah him!).

So yes, it is really huge. And if you have the pass then lucky you!

Completely forgot I bought this Urakata Hakuouki cd that came today! Do I know what it's about? Nope! But I do know the cast includes 4 Daisukes (Hira, Nami, Ono and Kirii), Kenn, Sugita, Sakurai and SuzuKen! I'd listen to them read a phone book and be happy 😅

Your favourite male seiyuu?

YUSA KOUJI. Just YUSA KOUJI. I have watched and listened to so much stuff just to hear his voice it's not even funny.

Honourable mentions to: Ishida Akira (very close second fave), Miyano Mamoru (an actual legend), Kamiya Hiroshi (he's voiced so many iconic characters), Fukuyama Jun (I like his serious characters a lot), Ono Daisuke (duh), Hosoya Yoshimasa (how can a bean like him have SUCH A VOICE?), Suwabe Jun'ichi (asdfghjlajfjslhjhdssd), Sakurai Takahiro (his voice is just so godlike), Namikawa Daisuke (BRO THE RANGE), Sugiyama Noriaki (honestly the embodiment of class).

Your least favourite male seiyuu?

Toriumi Kousuke, I just don't vibe with his voice at all, even though he seems great as a person and I thoroughly enjoyed every single event with him.

Sawashiro Miyuki. WHAT A QUEEN.

Hanazawa Kana. She tends to get roles that get on my nerves, but of course there are exceptions.

A seiyuu you’d watch in anything?

I think Mamo-chan, because he's so prolific I already HAVE watched him in anything.

A seiyuu that always makes you laugh?

AGAIN, Mamo-chan, the man's such a Gemini and he steals the attention whenever he appears. I also find Suwabe's comedic timing impeccable. Yucchii being a ドS and bullying everyone is a whole another topic...

The seiyuu you recognize the easiest?

Nakamura Yuuichi, for some reason I always tend to spot him in the most random shows. And Tsuda Kenjirou, the man is unmistakeable.

The seiyuu you recognize the hardest?

Generally I don't have trouble recognising voices, but Namikawa Daisuke in THOSE ROLES where he isn't his typical voice... That's just insane.

A seiyuu you’d rather not watch in anything?

Toriumi Kousuke again, no hate for the guy though.

The seiyuu with the best singing voice?

Hiro Yuuki. I've bought most of his solo CDs and he's just the best vocalist I've heard in ages. Also Taniyama Kishou, he literally has a badass band and owns it.

Mamo-chan, Yucchii, Hosoyan - overall. Kamiyan's smile. Ono-D's handsomeness. Sakurai Takahiro's class.

I am positive Ishida Akira would be able to convincingly emulate my high-pitched voice.

Yucchii: Jolly from Arcana Famiglia (he is either loved or hated because this role is all about VERY LOW voice and VERY SLOW speech)

The seiyuu with the worst singing voice?

Probably Yucchii lol, he is often called エロ音痴 (sexy tone-deaf) by the Japanese fans. That being said, I definitely enjoy his vocals even if he isn't exactly a good singer.

The series with the best cast overall?

K Project, Bungou Stray Dogs, Durarara and Hetalia have some of the best casts I've encountered, and while each show has its issues, I believe the cast is a consistently strong asset in them.

A series you would not have watched had a seiyuu you liked played a role in it?

i'm not sure if I got this right but I actually watched HUMAN LOST for two reasons: it adapts my favourite book, and it has a dashing cast, but now I regret watching it and I pity the cast for performing in such a poor production lol.

The first seiyuu you remember liking?

Irino Miyu, he played Tsubasa in Beyblade and I was instantly in love. Also Ono-D probably, he was a main character in a lot of the early anime I watched.

A seiyuu you don’t like as much as others do?

Kaji Yuuki. He's great and I adore many of his characters, but he's got so many popular roles that he sort of blends into a single voice type for me, which makes it harder for me to enjoy each performance for what it is.

The seiyuu with the most acting range?

Ishida Akira just cannot be beaten, closely followed by Namikawa Daisuke.

The seiyuu with the least acting range?

Maybe Okamoto Nobuhiko? I feel like a lot of his roles have a similar range. Not a criticism though, because he's fantastic.

A seiyuu you’d hang out with?

I would like to hang out with Madono Mitsuaki, he seems like a fun person from his live streams. Oh and Sugita Tomokazu. Bro is one of the funniest people alive.

I don't really keep up with newbies but Chiba Shouya who voiced Sigma in Bungou Stray Dogs definitely caught my ear.

I'm not sure, but I've always been interested in voice performances so it seemed like a natural progression to delve into seiyuu.

How recent is recent? I really enjoyed Oonuki Yuusuke in FUGOU KEIJI: Balance Unlimited as Kanbe Daisuke. It was hard to believe the guy is originally a dancer and not a voice actor.

This drama CD was one of the lottery prizes for the More,Blood anime, I believe! It has the Halloween theme that I've been craving recently─it's been nothing but rainy (but cozy) weather here despite the fact that it's summer and autumn can't come fast enough in my opinion... I absolutely adored this CD! Again, huge thank you to @karleksmumskladdkaka for sharing these gems with us ( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈♡) I used Yui's name in some places in this translation for practical purposes. [The other Mukami brothers sigh.]

Azusa: A cat costume… What’s going on?

Ruki: Stop fooling around and change out of that costume. It’s almost time for dinner.

A: Ah, Halloween…

[Kou claps his hands.]

K: Exactly, Halloween! And that means costumes! So… let’s all dress up and have a Halloween party together!

R: Quit this nonsense and go get changed. I won’t feel at ease if you sit at my dinner table wearing that cat costume.

K: Listen to me! I said let’s all dress up! And that includes you, Ruki. If I’m the only one in cosplay, it’ll only be embarrassing.

Y: It already is, though…

A: All of us… in costumes? That sounds kind of fun…

K: See, Azusa’s hyped too! That’s good, right? Let’s make our regular dinnertime a little more exciting.

R: Ugh… Fine. Go ahead.

[Kou celebrates his victory.]

K: Yes!

Y: Hey, hey! Ruki, you really OK with this? It’s gonna be a huge pain in the ass…

R: Kou won’t listen even if I tell him that. If I don’t give him permission, he’ll throw a tantrum just for the sake of it. That’ll be just as bothersome.

A: But… we don’t have any costumes…

K: Hehe—just leave it to me.

[Kou wheels out a suitcase and opens it.]

K: Tada! 

[Kou pulls a bunch of costumes out of the suitcase.]

Y: Ah—the fuck is this?

A: Wow… So many costumes. Accessories, too… What are they for?

K: I told my stylist and hair-and-makeup artist that I wanted to throw a party for Halloween, and they let me borrow whatever I wanted! We use them all the time for photoshoots during this time of year.

R: You’re certainly… well-prepared.

Y: Ugh… Almost forgot you’re technically an idol. 

K: I’m not ‘technically’ an idol, I’m everyone’s favourite idol! You should watch the TV shows I do sometimes instead of your vegetable garden, Yuma.

Y: I don’t give a shit. I can’t fill my belly with your TV appearances.

K: You’re awful!

A: This pumpkin… It’s cute.

K: Ah! Azusa, that’s just the costume I had in mind for you—a Jack-o’-Lantern! I really think it’ll suit you. Here you go!

[Kou tosses the Jack-o’-Lantern costume to Azusa.]

Y: Speakin’ of pumpkins, what’re we gonna do for decorations? It won’t feel very Halloween-y if we don’t decorate.

R: Aren’t there any pumpkins in your garden?

Y: I haven’t grown any this year… 

K: Ah… Real pumpkins would be best, but fake ones will do for now. We have our little pumpkin Azusa with his Jack-o’-Lantern hat, after all.

A: So, I am the pumpkin… I’ll do my best. Ah.. if I wear this costume… will you carve me?

Y: No, we won’t, idiot.

A: Ah… you won’t? That’s too bad…

K: And, Ruki, this one’s yours!

[Kou throws a costume towards Ruki.]

03:46 R: And what is this, exactly? 

K: It’s a devil costume! It suits you, Ruki. This is your chance!

Y: It does suit you!

R: Hm…

A: Those fluffy things… Are they wings?

K: Yeah, yeah! They’re black wings. Pretty cool, right? The costume comes with proper horns and everything, so put those on too, alright?

Y: So Azusa’s a Jack-o’-Lantern and Ruki’s a devil. So what’s that make me?

K: Oh, Yuma, you will be…

[Kou rummages through the costumes.]

K: This!

Y: The fuck’s that rag?! 

K: You’ll be a zombie!

Y: What?!

K: A Z-O-M-B-I-E!

Y: Why make me a zombie? You got plenty of other costumes!

K: Because it’ll be fun!

R: Heh. 

Y: Hey! Don’t laugh, Ruki!

R: No, the zombie costume suits you. It’s not that different from the rags you wore when you were little.

Y: Tch!

A: But the rags alone might not be enough, though… Would you like… my pumpkin?

K: It’s alright! I’ve got special effects make-up and some props. I’ll make you a proper zombie!

Y: A proper zombie? What even is that? Screw this! Make me a werewolf or somethin’!

K: I don’t wanna! I’m the one dressed up as an animal today.

Y: You piece of shit… I’ll rip off your fucking tail.

K: Well, everyone, go put on your costumes! You too, Yuma. I’ll take care of your makeup!

[Kou gets to work on Yuma’s makeup.]

05:25A: Ah… Wow. It looks like a real wound… Did you make it yourself, Kou?

K: Oh, no. I had the special effects guy make this for me. I’m reusing the one they put on me for a photoshoot earlier.

Y: Ugh, disgustin’…! Why’d humans evolve to make this kinda shit?!

R: Clean skin would be pretty unusual for a zombie, wouldn’t it?

A: How lovely… I want to put them on, too… But… if I want new wounds… can’t I ask Eve to hurt me?

R: Don’t pressure her like that, Azusa.

A: Then, will you… hurt me instead, Ruki?

R: Uh…

[Kou pulls a little too hard at Yuma’s skin.]

Y: Ah—ow, ow, ow!—Kou, you son of a bitch! Don’t pull my skin like that, shit fuckin’ hurts! 

K: Huh? It’s not even that bad! Man up.

[Kou does it again.]

Y: Ow! Now you’re just doin’ it on purpose, you fuckin’ prick—

K: It’s just your imagination—ah, Ruki, could you hold this for a second?

06:41 R: Me?

K: Yeah, yeah. You’re already done getting dressed, so help me out, will you?

R: Hm… Alright.

[Ruki walks over to Kou and Yuma.]

A: I want… to help, too.

K: Thanks, Azusa! Let’s do the face makeup next, then…

Y: Ah—huh—ugh—hey, Ruki! Your wings’re in the way! It’s makin’ my face itchy!

R: I’m trying my best here, but—

K: C’mon, stay still—Here!

[Kou sprays something on Yuma’s face and Yuma almost chokes.]

K: Don’t move, Yuma! 

[Kou sprays it again.]

Y: You fucker—stop it! What’re you puttin’ on my face?

K: It’s a fake blood spray. (1) 

Y: What’re you—stop…!

[Yuma struggles while Kou happily covers him in fake blood.]

A: Ah… Yuma looks like a real zombie.

R: Hey, don’t put up a fight, you’re getting it on me, too—

Y: Argh—Let me go! Hey, fuckin’ listen to me—

07:39 K: There, all done!

Y: C’mon, why am I the only one covered in this shit? I don’t even know what the fuck I look like—You got a mirror or somethin’?

R: The mirror’s right—

K: Ah, wait, wait! Before we show him… Yuma, could you go and get Kitten?

Y: Huh? Can’t that wait ‘til after that?

[Kou pushes Yuma towards Yui’s room.]

K: Just go get her!

Y: This shit sucks…

[Yuma walks off.]

K: Hehehe… I wonder if he’ll give our little Kitten a fright! I’m sure he will!

A: Yuma’s face looks… pretty beaten up…

R: Good grief. You’re taking it too far.

K: Jumpscares are some of the best parts of Halloween!

R: You’re the only one having fun, though.

K: Huh?—Oh… He’s back!

[Yuma comes back in, carrying an unconscious Yui in his arms.]

Y: Hey, Sow saw me ‘n straight up passed out.

K: Haha! She really did! 

R: Of course she would. The makeup looks pretty realistic, after all. Put her down on the sofa, Yuma.

Y: Alright… Ugh, what am I even doing?

[Yuma places Yui on the sofa.]

A: Yuma, here… A mirror.

Y: Ah, thank—What the actual fuck?! Kou, you asshole, this’s taking it too far! There’s such a thing as too much!

K: It’s fine! It’s finally Halloween, so I had to make it realistic!

A: Yuma… It really suits you. You look like… an actual zombie.

Y: Well, I ain’t happy about it! Hey, hurry up and get me back to normal!

K: Keep it on a little longer. I put so much effort into it!

Y: Like hell I will! You fucker—I’ll turn you into a fuckin’ zombie!

K: Hey—hold on! Ah!

Y: C’mere, asshole!

[Yuma chases after Kou as he tries to run away, the two yelling and screaming at one another.]

K: [In the background] No, stop! Ah!

R: I suppose we should postpone the party until she wakes up.

A: Yeah… You’re right.

K: [In the background] You idiot!

R: Ugh… What a noisy bunch.

Plot: The Mukami brothers arrive at Eden, and are saddened (and in Ruki's case, also angered) to discover the profound state of ruin it has fallen into after Karlheinz's death. Before they can decide the measures they ought to take to preserve and protect their former home, a familiar arrives carrying a letter from Carla, urging them to go to Banmaden at once to fetch Yui, who has been left behind there all alone. Concerned for her, they hurriedly leave to go get her and bring her to Eden.

In between having her blood sucked and listening to reminiscenses of Karlheinz and Eden, Yui takes the opportunity to tell the brothers about a powerful new threat: Kino, Karlheinz's illegitimate son, who intends to seize control of the Demon World and annihilate not only the Vampire but also the Vibora, Adler, and Wolf Clans. Despite Kino's formidable power, the Mukamis resolve to combine their strengths to protect both Eden and Yui when the time comes, no matter the sacrifices.

My Thoughts: This CD is so good, you guys (though talk about ending on a cliffhanger ;> <)! Man, I love the Mukami family so much. Their dynamic is honestly one of my favorite aspects of the franchise, and this CD definitely delivers on that front!

What I adore most about it, though, are the interactions Ruki has with Yui. He's so soft, caring, and, for a moment, even vulnerable with her, which really speaks volumes coming from someone like Ruki, who normally can't stand the thought of anyone seeing him like that. In short, you can really tell how much he trusts and values Yui now and how much he's changed since his More, Blood days. uwu. As usual, Sakurai brings his A game here and the tenderness in his voice near the end of the final track absolutely kills me (as do his soft grunts during the bloodsucking that comes right after oh lordy).

The other voice actors do fantastic jobs with their scenes too — scenes that I hope will particularly satisfy all of you Kou, Yuma, and Azusa stans ( v^-゜)
