I think the thing I like about the Heffley family is that they feel real. I don't find many families in fiction where they are not either pretty much perfect and idealized, abusive, or a point is made about them being flawed (all three are valid and should happen more in fiction. It's just nice to see something else, though). The Heffleys simply are just a dysfunctional, flawed family and I think that's neat.

In my opinion; After the first half hour, the movie feels very long, but at least it picks up the pace at the end. I also think that, since Diary Of a Wimpy Kid has 15 books (and maybe more in the future) they should make a series, so they could cover each book in a better way, I don't know, I don't plan to read that many books
