Harry dealing with abuse trauma/people finding out about Dursley’s treatment

Ok so I didn’t know exactly how to word this particular genre of Harry Potter fanfiction, but I have been reading some fanfics where either the teachers, Sirius or the golden trio find out that Harry has been abused by the Dursley’s and how Harry deals or heals from that trauma. #cupboardreveal

so therefore below is a list of fanfics that deal with this topic, this is pretty obvious but TW for child abuse, some of these I haven’t read yet so i don’t think any of them feature active abuse, more so past abuse.

Sirius Orion Black was many things. 

He was loud, messy, and spontaneous. He put no effort into a lot of things, but baking French pastries? He was pretentious about them.

On this particular occasion, Sirius had been explaining how a good, properly handmade, French choux pastry differed from mass-produced store-bought ones.

“Look at the texture, Remus! Look at it! Can you not see the obvious difference?” Sirius said, shaking the two pastries in his hands in Remus’s face frustratedly. 

He had been trying to convince his boyfriend that they were different for the past hour, but if you asked Remus, he would have said that they were practically the same.

He said as much to Sirius. “Padfoot, they look the same. What are you on?” 

Okay, so maybe he was trying to rile him up. Sue him, but Sirius was hot when he was mad, alright?

“Moony!�� Sirius said indignantly, waving the pastries around like a madman. “Look closer! There’s a huge difference in the texture, see?” He tried to point at the one in his right hand. “See the way this one flakes? Like, delicately? And with layers?”

“No,” Remus said. “No, I don’t. Besides, it’s a pastry, Sirius. It doesn’t matter if it’s flaky or not, what matters is that it’s sweet. And if it has chocolate then that’s even better.”

“Moony,” Sirius whined, finally throwing his hands up in defeat. The pastry in his left hand slipped out and flew into the fireplace, probably boosted by Sirius’s magic. That was the store-bought one, after all. “You don’t get it! It’s called being cultured and appreciating the finer things in life.”

“Mhmm. Well, you’re pretty fine. Can I appreciate you?” Remus asked, smirking. 

Sirius gaped at him. “Dude, your pickup lines are absolute shit. What the fuck was that?”

“I don’t know, but please never call me ‘dude’ again, Pads. We’re dating,” Remus sighed. 

“Not until you learn the difference between the pastry textures,” Sirius harrumphed, sticking his nose in the air like the posh rich kid he was born as. “Pal.”

“That’s even worse.”

Day two: pajamas

One of those basic rules of improv say you have to say "Yes and-" rather than an outright contradiction, right? Sometimes you just have to commit to the bit even if your partner in crime makes things too dang complicated (so much for flying under the radar and being unmemorable- that nurse is going to be telling stories for weeks!). Of course, it is one thing to claim a child as part of an act and quite another to let such a claim slip out in a moment of guileless yelling at the co-god-parent (previous); no number of denials can take back such an admission.

So, are werewolves undead? I like to think that Remus had a muggle birth certificate in addition to whatever records the wizarding world might utilize- but post-bite his protective parents decided that it would be safer if he no longer had a paper trail in the muggle world, keep him hidden from prying questions etc. Perhaps it was safer for Remus (or easier for his parents at least) to not exist in the muggle records as a child, but it would become very difficult to find a job outside of the magical world and bring up all sorts of awkward questions when, after a night of running around in the woods with a pack of werewolves that don't exactly trust him and sans his trousers, he gets his exhausted ass hit by a lorry and dragged off to a muggle hospital.
