Harry dealing with abuse trauma/people finding out about Dursley’s treatment

Ok so I didn’t know exactly how to word this particular genre of Harry Potter fanfiction, but I have been reading some fanfics where either the teachers, Sirius or the golden trio find out that Harry has been abused by the Dursley’s and how Harry deals or heals from that trauma. #cupboardreveal

so therefore below is a list of fanfics that deal with this topic, this is pretty obvious but TW for child abuse, some of these I haven’t read yet so i don’t think any of them feature active abuse, more so past abuse.

New Year New Goals New Angsty Drabble

I only started fan fic in 2022, and it has been a ride I'm excited to still be on. Among my resolutions for this year is to try more things and be a bit less tentative in sharing them, to attempt to get over my inner voice that says there is One Way to be perfect and that until I find that way, no one wants to read my shit.

Thus, tossin' out a Tiny Drabble that is a riff itself on a one shot that I dropped off the face of a cliff last week.

Initial item: Visit, a second-person POV with Minerva McGonagall talking with Harry the day after the Third Task.

Lil drabble: continuing the second-person experiment, but Molly's perspective of the "as though by a mother" scene in the Hospital Wing early that morning.

I tried like fuck to boil it down to 100 words, but if the entire premise of all of this is that rules can be broken and the back button exists, I feel confident in leaving it at a round 110.

Harry returns your embrace with heartbreaking strength, gripping at your robes like a cat trying to stop her slide off a roof. Your hold tightens as you rub his back.

Hermione breaks the moment: you let go, but don’t leave. You watch him clench and unclench fists like your babies did while sleeping.

You wonder if the rest of them can feel it, if Harry can feel it. The air crackling with an elemental magic. You don’t want him startled, so the Vow is made in silence, your hand on your own tears instead of on his.

You won’t take him from Lily. But he’s yours now, just the same.

Hermione inherited an island in Scotland from her grandparents. Once she took ownership of the island she made it unplottable and put it under a fidelius charm with a secret keeper. After the war Hermione escaped to her island and brought a few people with her that she knew would benefit from the seclusion from the public eye. Sirius loved the freedom that her island gave him to be able to go outside without having to worry about being seen and taken back to Azkaban. Severus, although not thrilled to be on a secret kept island with Sirius, was relieved to be away from the public eye. Remus didn’t care where he was as long as he was with his mate Hermione and his best friend Sirius and that he had a place to transform into Moony safely and without a worry about escaping and hurting someone. The Twins were grateful to be on the island after they were bitten by Greyback a few weeks after the battle, they were thankful to Hermione for letting them stay with her while they adjusted to their new life as werewolves with help from Remus.

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

oooo i feel like there's so many for this one. i went a bit into lightning era too. young molly weasley, peter pettigrew (this one is relative), pansy parkinson, percy weasley, rita skeeter (this one goes back and forth tbh). now explanations. molly, i just feel like there's a lot of potential for her character that isn't discussed!!! (which i will absolutely be adding into my fics). but like, think about how her parents must've treated her and her brothers for her to end up as the mother she did. also think about how fucking badass she would've been as a teenager! like yeah, she's a bamf in her 40s, but imagine her, single, childless, with not a care in the world just going around and doing whatever she pleases. peter!!! we all know how i feel about peter so i won't go too much into it but yeah. he's amazing (i will go into this more in another post if anybody wants to hear all my thoughts). pansyyy. ok so yes, she is an awful person in canon. but consider this... fanon pansy is amazing and she's my wife. i've also read some one shots where the reader is fr just like me :sob: and it makes me so happy. percyyyyyy. ok he is my baby. i love him so much. he just made a little mistake okay! he was outcasted by his family his whole life and so he wanted to do great things. yeah, he was a nerd, and his brothers relentlessly made fun of him for it, then he found the first person who appreciated (used) him (he didn't know, he was manipulated!) and he stuck by them. not to mention him trying to live up to the immense pressure he was under to live up to bill and charlie's legacy. but he realized he was wrong and he went back! and then his fucking brother died and he blamed himself for it. this man has been through enough!!! leave him alone!! (i can also write a whole thing about percy, i've hyperfixated on this man, i have a playlist and art of him and everything) MOVING ON i really jsut exposed myself there. rita! tbh i don't... like her? i just think she's interesting. i despise her in adulthood, but i think she was a really cool teenager. i would add bellatrix in here too but she gets enough love so she's an honorable mention. wow that was... long. i went on a bit too long about percy WHOOPS.

What are your biggest pet peeves in terms of characterization of any HP characters in fics?

Personally I don’t love BAMF Hermione, I do think she’s awesome and badass but also flawed and interesting for being flawed. Also don’t love BAMF Ginny.

I think pitting female characters against each other for the sake of romance actually pisses me off lol. Personally, it just doesn't gel well for me. I am okay with girls not liking other girls, but suddenly declaring Ginny a cheater! Or Hermione an angel! Not my vibe.

I can get behind BAMF characters, but I need them to have character flaws or vices. I also really, really hate when we don't acknowledge the fact that certain characters have done really terrible things too. I can't stand the fact that it's never directly acknowledged that Molly Weasley basically joined the Wizarding World in shaming Hermione for being friends and/or seeing Hermione as a love interest for Harry. Like super fucked up. Or like Dumbledore was just a terrible person that just happened to say the right things at the right time, etc. Or that Remus/Tonks was just a weird, uncomfortable connection.

But that's just me lmao.
