ABOUT ME
Hello! I’m Skylar if you’re new to my page and I got my diploma in astrology from Kepler College (the #1 best astrology school in the world)
I’ve been studying astrology for over a decade now as well and these are the books I recommend
☆ BEGINNER BOOKS ☆
The Only Astrology Book You’ll Ever Need by Joanna Woolfolk
Goes over all the basic information for beginners and has interpretations written in as well. In the beginning of the book it focuses a lot on Sun Signs but gives more insight on other placements later in the book don’t worry
Astrology for the Soul by Jan Spiller
Another great book for beginners. I like the interpretations
The Inner Sky by Steven Forrest
Written by a very renowned astrologer. He goes over signs, aspects, etc and breaks them all down really well
You were born for this by Chani Nicholas
I love how this book goes over how to use astrology in your daily life and isn’t just cookie cutter definitions of placements like many other books. It’s also interactive and you can write in some pages which is always fun. It’s one of my favorite books for beginners
Aspects in astrology by Sue Tompkins
This is a great book for people curious about what each aspect means and how they can manifest into your life
☆ INTERMEDIATE BOOKS ☆
Predictive Astrology by Michele Adler
This book is definitely worth the price. It gives lots of information on techniques you can use to make predictions in astrology. It’s based on Western Astrology
The Art of Predictive Astrology by Carol Rushmam
Another great predictive astro book that talks about how to make predictions based on transits in your chart
Medical Astrology by Judith Hill
This is a great book with information on body part astrology and medical information. Although I do want to note when reading this do not be afraid if you share one of the transits that the public figures mentioned had during their health issues arising as astrology is a polarity. Meaning you can take on positive traits rather than the challenging ones often
☆ ADVANCED BOOKS ☆
Asteroid Goddesses by Demetra George
Goes over all the major asteroids in astrology. This can help you a lot if you’re interested in learning basic information on asteroids
Planets in Composite by Robert Hand
There are not many books out there on Composite compatibility so out of all of them this is my favorite even though it’s very basic it’s still a good read if you’re learning about Composite charts
The Psychology of Astrocartography by Jim Lewis
This is the best book about astrocartography I’ve found so far and very informative. The only bad thing I have to say about this book is that the print is really small. It’s amazing other than that though
☆ OLD AGE ASTRO BOOKS ☆
Mastering Traditional Astrology by Mychal A. Brian
If you’re more interested in old age astrology then this is an amazing read. You can purchase it on Amazon
Astrology of the Tree by David Frawley
This is great for beginners in vedic astrology and goes over all the basics. Really anything by David Frolly is great if you want to learn about vedic
The Nakshatras; the Lunar Mansions of Vedic Astrology by Dennis Harness
It’s a short read and goes over all the meanings of all the nakshatras
Light on Relationships by Hart De
A very comprehensive read that goes over synastry in Indian astrology. It gives lots of interesting techniques that can give insight on future marriages as well
Mayan Calender Astrology by Kenneth Johnson
This is extremely hard to comprehend so don’t purchase if you’re new to astrology. Even I had to read it a few times to fully get it. It discusses the astrology that the egyptians wrote in their hieroglyphics
☆ BOOKS I STUDIED FOR MY DIPLOMA ☆ [these aren’t all of them just some of my faves]
Sky and Psyche; the relationship between cosmos and consciousness by Nicholas Campion and Patrick Curry
This is an extremely underrated book and one of my favorites by far. This book goes over not just meanings of the planets, houses, synastry aspects, etc but also why the planets manifest in certain ways
The planetarization of consciousness by Dane Rudhyar
This one isn’t a basic overview like the other books I’ve mentioned it’s more psychological type astrology which I found really interesting
History of western astrology volume 1 & 2 by Nicholas Campion
This goes over how astrology has been used throughout history and why it was used in the past
☆ OTHER ASTRO BOOKS ☆
Moonology by Yasmin Boland
This is a manifestation astrology book. It gives an amazing story about the authors life before using astrology and manifestation and how it impacted them. Great for learning how to manifest using the moon cycles and astrology
The Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes by Theodora Lau and Laura Lau
My favorite Chinese astrology book. There isn’t many good ones out there
Birth Time Rectification by Paul Manley
There are some things I would’ve added to this book that weren’t mentioned but other than that it’s pretty good in helping find the right birth times using vedic astrology

Have you ever seen, or at the very least, heard of, The Rat Movie: Mystery Of The Mayan Treasure?
No pressure if you haven’t.
I just want to see if you meet the rats’ minimum requirements. This is how they decide who shall join THE HORDE (that is what I call those who I follow who I think are cool).
Oh ABSOLUTELY !! Not only do I quote that on a semi-daily basis but I'm also just a big Jerma fan in general. I could watch that man watch paint dry

Hi!
Asking because you’re a librarian: I read 1491 and liked it; what other nonfiction books would you recommend on precolonial Indigenous civilizations in the Americas, especially on civilizations other than the famous (Aztec, Mayan, Inca) ones? I was especially interested in the parts on Amazonian civilizations.
Hello! I'm hopefully living up to my librarian title with these titles!
Indians Before Columbus; Twenty Thousand Years of North American History Revealed by Archeology by Paul S. Martin
Fair Gods and Stone Faces by Constance Irwin
America Before: The Key to Earth's Lost Civilization by Graham Hancock
The First Americans: The Pleistocene Colonization of the New World edited by Nina G. Jablonski
Daily Life in Pre-Columbian Native America by Clarissa W. Confer
This is only a handful of what I was able to find, but there is plenty more if you'd like those as well. Hope you find something you like in this list and happy reading!

Rare Sculpture of Mayan God of Lightning Found in Mexico
Archaeologists unearthed a rare sculpture of a powerful Mayan god near the path of a large-scale rail project in southeastern Mexico, officials say.
The sculpture of the ancient god K’awiil is part of an urn recently found near Section 7 of the ongoing Maya Train project, the National Institute of Anthropology and History said in an April 27 release. Section 7 stretches from the town of Bacalar, in Quintana Roo, to Escárcega, in Campeche.
The controversial Maya Train project — which will span 965 miles when finished — is fiercely championed by Mexican President Lopez Obrador, who aims to connect the Yucatan peninsula by rail, Mexico News Daily reported. However, many oppose the endeavor over concerns of environmental destruction and the loss of cultural and historical heritage.
“This finding is very important because there are few sculptural representations of the god K’awiil,” INAH director Diego Prieto Hernandez said, adding that it is “one of the first to appear in Mexican territory,” while just three others have been found in neighboring Guatemala.
K’awiil has been seen by experts before, in paintings and in reliefs, but rarely is he seen in three dimensions.
K’awiil was the Mayan god of lightning, wealth and fertility, and “is related to the Maya’s idea that lightning fertilized the earth,” Oswaldo Chinchilla Mazariegos, associate professor of anthropology at Yale, said in a 2022 university release.
The K’awiil statue is one finding among many made by teams salvaging artifacts along the path of the train project, according to the INAH release. As of April 27, nearly 49,000 buildings or foundations have been cataloged and reserved, over 896,000 pottery fragments, and 491 bones.

Publications of the New World
The James Smith Noel Collection has closed out another exciting exhibit, this time the topic was the New World of the Americas as experienced by Europe and other explorers. The exhibit: Exploration of the New World features the culture and intriguing history of Central and South America as it was experienced in the resources produced in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. We welcomed visitors to the mysterious, ancient rituals of the Pre-Columbian Mayans, the Aztecs of Mexico, and the Incas of Peru. We also showcased the advancements in architecture, science, and community development while marveling at the natural beauty of the regions.
One of the cases displayed a fascinating book which was originally published in Spanish and later translated into English. The edition house in the Noel Collection was published in 1688 of The royal commentaries of Peru, : in two parts. The first part Treating the Original of their Incas or Kings: Of their Idolatry … by Garcilaso de la Vega. Vega wrote a pivotal account of Incan history. Vega has a unique personal connection to the Incan world being a descendant of royal Incan lineage. He was half Spanish and Incan, his father being Spanish, and he chronicled Incan history, culture, and destruction as a result of the Spanish conquest. We featured a portion of text that discussed the minerals, precious metals, and natural resources found in Peru, such as, gold, silver, and mercury or quicksilver.
Vega was born as Gómez Suárez de Figueroa in April of 1539, and became known as El Inca. He ventured to Spain when he was 21 where he obtained an informal education and remained until his death in April of 1616. His father died in 1559 and Vega relocated to Spain two years later to seek acknowledgement as the natural son of the Spanish conquistador. His paternal uncle became his protector. While he primarily wrote on the Incan civilization, Spanish conquest, and an account of De Soto’s exploration of Florida.
Gómez Suárez de Figueroa was born in Cuzco, Peru; his father is recorded as being Sabastian Garcilaso de la Vega y Vargas, a Spanish captain, and his mother was Palla Chimpu Ocllo. When his mother was baptized after the fall of Cuzo and renamed Isabel Suarez Chimpu Ocllo, she was descended from Inca nobility, the daughter of Tupac Huallap and granddaughter of Tupac Yupanqui. Vega’s parents were not married in the Catholic church, resulting in his birth being considered illegitimate and he was given his mother’s surname. Vega was a child when his father left and married a younger Spanish noblewoman. His mother married and had two daughters. His first language was Quechua but learned Spanish as a child.
After moving to Spain, he received a European education and the works he produced was considered to have great literary value. He traveled to Montilla and met his father’s brother, Alonso de Vargas, who took him as his protector to help Vega make his way. He traveled to Madrid and petitioned the crown for acknowledgement. He was allowed the name of Garcilaso de la Vega, or "El Inca" or "Inca Garcilaso de la Vega" due to his mixed heritage. He had first-hand experience of the daily-life of the Inca life which heavily influenced his writings. His education allowed him to accurately describe the political system, labor force, and social life of the Incan empire.

Beloved surprising Terry with honey cake and apple cookies she baked herself for the new year's dinner. She's a bit nervous because she's not Jewish herself and she's not even sure if she can participate in the celebration but she just looked up the recipes online because she wanted to do something nice for him.
---
It was strange, perhaps, to be with a man who was frequently the subject of tabloids.
Newspapers.
Business insiders and the LA Times reporting on his bankruptcy.
On rumors lined together like a string of pearls, creating a torniquet. Dynatox under fire. Mass sackings. An international conglomerate sliced in half, into countless branches and his personal revenues and failures making headlines on the daily. Sport scandals. Cobra Kai and local Tournament losses. The stock market tanking in lieu of the backlash in the aftermath of so many skeletons in the closet. Talks of bribery. Corruption. It was the September of 1992, --- the beginning of a new decade and the latter part of the year Or the 1st of Tishrei, 5753, and it seemed that even for the Holidays, the media onslaught wouldn't cease. Especially when he downsized, deliberately moving his address from the coveted slopes of his Beverly Hills Ennis mansion overlooking the city, somewhere more compact and amenable. To Malibu. The 80's ended and Terry said, with you distinctly remembering his exact words that all the fun ended with it. Things would change. People would change with it. They'd have to. And things did change, you felt so in your bones as the black limousine waited outside along with the chauffeur and you rushed in from the mansion being secured and locked behind you with not a single piece of luggage on you. Terry made sure everything you needed was already transported by his men. All you carried into the parked vehicle with you as you scooted next to him on the leather backseat was a warm plate covered with a napkin as the last bit of cookery the workers didn't load in previously, catching your breath as you closed the door behind you shut.
Taking one last look at your colossal Mayan temple of a house.
There was no Margaret. No Milos. No Snake. No Dennis.
The stony courtyard stood empty.
-"What's this?"-
Terry pointed his nose at the China in your lap. You weren't moving to the surface of Mars. He made that clear multiple times. Everything you ever needed he'd replace and buy again by the tenfold. He'd make things anew. Better. -"The last thing I cooked in our old home. A sort of goodbye."- You explain as the limousine moved forward and the secured iron gate and its walls started moving with it, disappearing behind you and into the dusky streets of Glendower Avenue. -"Sentimental."- Terry chuckled, peppering the ash of his cigar into a nearby crystal ashtray. He told you he'd quit soon. It was falling out of fashion, he explained. It was like he had a third eye capable of predicting these things. If you don't change, he said, you die. You remove the napkin covering the plate, revealing what you were busy tinkering with this last day here. You were pretty certain the manor still had the scent of sweets lingering in the air when you left. The idea of that made you feel a certain way, even though Terry told you, with as much firmness as you remember him having, that one day, he'll avenge himself and everything he was giving up now. Weirdest thing was, you entirely believed him. -"Apple cake and honey. You know? For Rosh Hashanah."- You explain carefully, finding his eyes stilling in the darkness of the car until he wasn't blinking anymore, perfectly calm as the chauffeur in the front turned left. -"For you. Before we settle into our new place and celebrate properly."- You add once he says nothing, observing you and your offerings, cigar in hand, suited up, insisting he leave this place in grand style. You gulp, feeling a bit nervous, fidgeting where you sat. His expression perfectly cool. You talked about religion before. First time you decided to do something like this for him.
He needed that, you felt.
After everything.
-"Are you upset? You seem upset."-
-"For the most talked about man in the country, huh? Perfect."-
His mouth melts upward slowly, into a smile, until his teeth are on full display.
-"For the most talked about man in the country, yes."-
You repeat with a chuckle of your own, relieved, offering him a dessert from your plated entree. He sets down his cigar, affixing his cufflinks, taking one and bringing it up to his nostrils, inhaling the scent. His gaze meeting yours, hooded, from under his brows. His eyes were smiling too. -"I won, you know. I always win."- Terry practically purrs. You adjust yourself in your seat, finally finding a comfortable place, shaking your head, slightly confused. He dips the slice of apple into the tiny, honey filled glass container, never separating his stare from you. You follow suit, taking a slice yourself. -"What do you mean?"- You ask, scooting closer. -"They indicted me five times this year. That's four times more than last year."- He's all emotive and energy, even as he chews with distinction to the point where it was hard to pinpoint if Terry felt beleaguered by the fact, or entirely proud. Knowing him, you'd guess proud. -"Then there's Dynatox."- He adds, his mirth fading into something more serious until he becomes distant for but a moment. You knew how much that company meant to him. -"Cobra Kai. John."- He includes, holding your eyes with a peculiar sort of fierceness. The fallout with John too. If anything, you knew that part possibly hurt him more than what was going on with Dynatox. -"But, here you are, huh --- all cookies and cream for me on the Day of Repentance."- You lower your head, oddly humbled and bashful. The honey symbolized and alluded to a sweet beginning of a New Year and you hoped for just that, for you --- for him. You just wanted things to be alright again, nearly gasping when you felt his finger under your chin, lifting your face up to look at him, Griffith Park bypassing you through the tinted windows. It was the end of an era; the least you could do is commemorate it, even if it was on the backseat of a limo.
-"Terry..."-
You whisper, flattered, watching him reach for the minibar, producing a bottle.
A pair of glasses. Pouring you and him a glass of white wine each.
Handing you yours, grinning from ear to ear.
-"Baby, that smells like winning to me."-
He declares, throwing his arm around you, clinking glasses.
Dipping another slice of apple cake into honey.

In honor of Dracula Daily starting again tomorrow, I am posting a preview of the trailer for my Arden Dracula AU, which will be posted in full during @podcastgirlsweek! Enjoy, and know that I read academic articles for this.
BEA: However old you are, wherever you live, you’ve almost certainly encountered some version of the Dracula story.
[Clip:]
DRACULA: Vell, vell, vell…. Velcome to my humble home. You must be chilly on such a cold, dark night.
WOMAN (breathily): I got caught in a rainstorm with nothing but this translucent nightgown.
DRACULA: Please, let me help you into something more comfortable. (sinister chuckle)
[New clip:]
DETECTIVE: We just pulled another body out of the river. The same as the last one. Bloodless, with two pricks on the neck.
CHIEF INSPECTOR: Why??? She was so young!
[New clip:]
WATSON: Have you figured it out?
HOLMES: It’s elementary, my dear Watson. The killer is none other than the count!
DRACULA: (hisses).
[End clips.]
BEA: Count Dracula is a stock character, a movie monster, while the original details of the case have faded out of the public memory. When he is revisited as a historical figure, the story still gets… inflated.
[Clip:]
VOICEOVER: Could Count Dracula have studied at the Scholomance, an arcane academy dedicated to devil worship and black magic? Join our team of experts as we prove that the Scholomance does exist… and your children might be on their mailing list.
EXPERT: If you study this ancient Mayan carving, I think you’ll be convinced, just like I was, that Dracula and Elvis Presley both attended the Scholomance and returned there after their time among us was over. In fact, if you do a deep dive into the lyrics of “Suspicious Minds”, I’ll argue that the “trap” Elvis refers to is none other than the school’s underground labyrinth.
VOICEOVER: Coming up next on the History channel.
[Clip ends.]
BEA: But who was Count Dracula, really? Who were his victims? And how did one of the world’s most famous serial killers disappear so successfully that some people believe he’s still out there, over 100 years later? I’m Bea Casely, investigative reporter and host of hit podcast Arden. In this special miniseries, we’re going to peel back a century of hyperbole and romanticization to find the man behind the monster.
BRENDA: Unless, of course, the man was a monster.
BEA: (sighs) And that’s my cohost, Brenda Bentley, who has her own take on the case.
BRENDA: For as long as Count Dracula has been at large, there’ve been rumors that he’s more than he seems. Or, exactly what he seems. Victims suffering from blood loss, reports of unnatural abilities, a parasitic relationship with the lower class… is it any surprise many people suspect him of being… (bad accent) a vampire?
BEA: Yes! It is a surprise, since vampires don’t exist.
BRENDA: “If human testimony taken with every care and solemnity, judicially, before commissions innumerable, each consisting of many members, all chosen for integrity and intelligence, and constituting reports more voluminous perhaps than exist upon any one other class of cases, is worth anything, it is difficult to deny or even to doubt the existence of such a phenomenon as the vampire.” That’s from Le Fanu’s seminal vampire narrative Carmilla.
BEA: Which is fiction.
BRENDA: It’s important to lay out all the possibilities. The fans loved the dual narrative thing we had going on last season.
BEA: (deep breath) That’s what you have to look forward to, listeners! We’ll look into the case, exhume the facts of what took place all those years ago, and settle this once and for all.
BRENDA: The Dracula debate never dies. Just like Dracula.
BEA: (intensely) We only have six episodes, so we’re going to pin this case down even if we have to stake it through the heart.
BRENDA: Aw, you are getting into the vampire spirit.
BEA: Don’t push it.
[The Wheyface Industries jingle begins to play.]
ANDY: Murder? Vampires? Ghost ships? How fantastically spooky! I’m trembling already.
PAMELA: Andy, we haven’t aired the section on the Demeter yet.
ANDY: That’s what we call a ‘teaser’. It’ll keep the audience excited.
PAMELA: Then I’d better start working on episode one. Stay tuned, everybody.
ANDY: Arden is brought to you by Wheyface Industries: the good people. So good, in fact, that we’re immune to vampiric wiles. Don’t believe me? We’re so confident in that promise that if you’re slain by a vampire after enjoying any Wheyface Industry goods or services, we’ll give you your money back, no questions asked. That’s a Wheyface guarantee.
(rapidly) This offer is null and void if you become a vampire, as you are then no longer one of the good people. Instead you will be slain by our patented Wheyface brand vampire slaying drones, all equipped with stakes and holy water blessed by our corporate priest. Terms and conditions apply.
In 1893, a series of unexplained killings shocked the English towns of Whitby and London. Blame eventually fell on a Mr. DeVille, a recent arrival from Romania better known as Count Dracula. Before he could be held responsible, he vanished without a trace, leaving nothing behind but a legend that continues to this day. But was the count one more Victorian serial killer, or something even more monstrous? And what does this case tell us about gender, race, and power in Victorian England?
Join us, won’t you? As we unravel the mystery, on Arden.

Exploring the World of Mushroom Chocolate: A Fusion of Flavors and Wellness
In the ever-evolving landscape of gourmet and wellness foods, mushroom chocolate has emerged as a fascinating and delightful trend. Combining the rich, velvety taste of chocolate with the unique benefits of medicinal mushrooms, this innovative treat offers a blend of indulgence and health benefits that’s captivating the culinary world. Let’s dive into the intriguing world of mushroom chocolate and discover why it’s gaining popularity.
A Brief History of Mushroom Chocolate
Mushrooms have been valued for their medicinal properties for thousands of years, particularly in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. Varieties like Reishi, Chaga, Lion’s Mane, and Cordyceps have been used to boost immunity, enhance cognitive function, and reduce stress. The idea of combining these powerful fungi with chocolate, however, is a more recent development.
Chocolate itself has a rich history, once considered a "food of the gods" by ancient civilizations such as the Mayans and Aztecs. Its appeal has only grown over the centuries, evolving from a bitter beverage to the sweet treat we know today. The fusion of mushrooms and chocolate marries the ancient wisdom of mushroom use with the modern love for chocolate, creating a product that is both delicious and potentially beneficial for health.
The Health Benefits of Mushroom Chocolate
One of the key reasons behind the rise of mushroom chocolate is its purported health benefits. Each type of mushroom used in these chocolates brings its own set of advantages:
Reishi: Known as the "mushroom of immortality," Reishi is believed to support the immune system, reduce stress, and promote relaxation. Incorporating Reishi into chocolate creates a soothing treat that can help you unwind.
Lion’s Mane: This mushroom is famous for its potential cognitive benefits. It may enhance memory, focus, and overall brain function, making Lion’s Mane-infused chocolate a popular choice for those seeking a mental boost.
Chaga: Packed with antioxidants, Chaga is often hailed for its ability to fight inflammation and support overall wellness. Chaga chocolate can be a tasty way to introduce more antioxidants into your diet.
Cordyceps: Known for its energy-boosting properties, Cordyceps is often used by athletes and those with active lifestyles. Cordyceps chocolate might be the perfect pick-me-up before a workout or during a midday slump.
While the benefits of medicinal mushrooms are still being studied, many enthusiasts swear by the positive effects of these fungi, particularly when combined with the comfort and indulgence of chocolate.
The Taste Experience
One might wonder how the earthy flavors of mushrooms pair with the sweet and sometimes bitter notes of chocolate. Surprisingly, the combination works exceptionally well. The subtle umami flavor of the mushrooms complements the richness of the chocolate, adding depth and complexity to the taste. Depending on the type of mushroom and chocolate used, the flavor profile can range from mildly earthy to richly decadent.
For those new to the concept, mushroom chocolate is typically crafted with dark chocolate, which tends to have a robust flavor that balances the earthiness of the mushrooms. However, variations with milk chocolate or even white chocolate are also available, catering to different taste preferences. Alice Mushroom
How to Enjoy Mushroom Chocolate
Mushroom chocolate can be enjoyed in many ways. Some prefer to savor it as a simple snack, letting the flavors melt in their mouth. Others incorporate it into their wellness routines, consuming it as a daily supplement or before activities requiring focus and energy.
It can also be a great addition to desserts. Imagine a mushroom chocolate fondue, a luxurious hot chocolate infused with medicinal mushrooms, or even mushroom chocolate brownies. The possibilities are endless, limited only by your culinary creativity.
Where to Find Mushroom Chocolate
As the trend grows, mushroom chocolate is becoming more widely available. Many health food stores and specialty chocolate shops now carry various mushroom chocolate products. Additionally, numerous online retailers offer a wide selection, often with detailed information about the specific mushrooms used and their potential benefits. Polkadot
For those interested in a more hands-on approach, making your own mushroom chocolate at home is an option. By purchasing high-quality mushroom powder and your favorite chocolate, you can experiment with creating your own custom blends tailored to your taste and wellness goals. Mr Mushies
The Future of Mushroom Chocolate
As awareness of both the benefits of medicinal mushrooms and the demand for functional foods increases, mushroom chocolate is poised to become a staple in the health-conscious consumer's diet. Its ability to combine pleasure with wellness makes it an exciting innovation in the world of gourmet foods.
In conclusion, mushroom chocolate is more than just a trend—it's a delightful fusion of ancient medicinal wisdom and modern culinary artistry. Whether you’re looking to boost your health, enjoy a new taste experience, or simply indulge in a unique treat, mushroom chocolate offers something for everyone. As it continues to grow in popularity, we can expect to see even more creative and delicious variations of this fascinating food. So, why not give it a try and discover the magic of mushroom chocolate for yourself?

The Power of Visualization
The Power of Visualization: Ancient Techniques for Modern Manifestation
Visualization, creating mental images to manifest desires, has been a cornerstone of human progress and achievement throughout history. Ancient civilizations, such as the Egyptians and Mayans, were pioneers in harnessing the power of visualization to shape their reality and achieve their aspirations.
The Egyptians, renowned for their monumental architecture and sophisticated culture, utilized visualization techniques in their rituals and daily practices. They believed that by visualizing their gods and the afterlife with intricate detail, they could ensure a prosperous existence and a secure passage to the next world.
Similarly, the Mayans, with their advanced understanding of astronomy and mathematics, employed visualization as a tool for planning and constructing their iconic pyramids and temples. These structures were not only feats of engineering but also tangible manifestations of their cosmic visions and spiritual desires.
Today, we can draw inspiration from these ancient practices to create our dream life. By vividly imagining our goals as already achieved, we engage our subconscious mind, working tirelessly to turn those visions into reality. This technique has been supported by modern research, demonstrating that visualization can significantly impact motivation, performance, and even physical strength.
To incorporate visualization into your life, begin by setting aside a quiet time each day to focus on your goals. Close your eyes and create a detailed mental image of your desired outcome, engaging all your senses. Feel the emotions associated with your success, and believe in the possibility of its realization.
By adopting these ancient techniques, refined by centuries of human experience, you can unlock the power of your mind and steer your life towards the fulfillment of your deepest desires. Visualization is not just a practice of the past; it is a timeless tool that continues to empower individuals to shape their future and manifest their dreams.

Velasco Ortiz and Castellanos take us inside labor camps in Baja California and social housing complexes in Cancún to reveal how the logics of [colonialism and extraction] drive the configuration of physical space and in turn constrain people’s autonomy and ability to construct relations of mutuality with those around them. [...]
Words for change, go, move, and other related concepts exist in many languages. In Mixtec, Na ii kua’an inga ñuu means “person who went,” according Mixtec professor Tiburcio Pérez [...]. In Tsotsil, jxanbal means “(person) who walks,” according to Tsotsil linguist Satsak Nichim [...].
Because of migration or mobility, such communalism as a way of life also takes on new forms of support and care evident in the daily practices [...]. The work by Stephen, Blackwell, and Cruz-Manjarrez [...] shows how the construction of transnational/transborder community projects in cities such as Los Angeles works by means of collective actions. [...] Zapotec and Mixtec people [...] have reconstructed communality in a transterritorial geography.
---
Mobile lives that spread families and communities out in multiple locations where they are not physically close to one another also produce challenges in terms of rebuilding connection, care, and solidarity [...]. In another case, we can see how hosting seasonal farmworkers in labor camps or in precarious housing results in isolation and segregation that has subjected a generation of Nahua, Mixtec, and Triqui youth to savage exploitation. Their only escape is to literally flee [...]. Castellanos brings us directly into the impact of COVID-19 on Mayan families living in Cancún [...]. His story demonstrates the ways in which “safe” zones have been built for tourists in Mexico while the health of the [...] workers serving them is a secondary priority. [...] Interestingly, in the Mayan communities described by Castellanos in Cancún and in Mayan and Mixtec communities of farmworkers in Oregon, relations and structures of care were fortified during the pandemic. Castellanos [...] [identifies] the concept of convivencia as caring for one another in the absence of the state.
In Yucatec Maya, the plural form of the Spanish word convivir translates to u kuxtal u yéetel u máatsil máako’ob, literally meaning “life with the miracle of men.” An individual who is part of a relationship of convivir is ti’ óol, which one of Castellanos’s interlocutors translates as “to be generous,” but which is literally defined as “your heart, will, energy, or spirit.”
Failure of the state to care for Mayan people is part of a long history of state violence, but the survivance and creative power of Mayan communities is as well. As Castellanos argues, the recentering of values of caring and celebration of life through convivencia offers a vision of a radically different present and future [...].

At peace
Ingin bersyukurr sedalam-dalamnya karena akhirnya bisa merasakan damai lagi dalam hidup, bisa beneran enjoy lagi doing day-to-day mundane things, dan bahkan ada hal baru (lari) yang mayan bikin semangat.
Momen after grief tuh gelap banget, ga keliatan masa depan, ga keliatan jalan keluar, gatau gimana caranya buat bertahan. Tapi give it time, susah bgt buat let yourself feel the sadness but it will eventually pass.
Padahal sbg beginner harusnya ikut race yang gaada cut off timenya aja biar santay.
Berasa perjalanan lintas waktu banget apalagi adit ga ikut (tapi kangen berat). Terus ternyata perjalanan haji kemaren sangat mempengaruhi daily life aku sekarang. Karena pas haji tuh literally gaada kerjaan lain selain nungguin waktu solat dan ibadah kan. Jadi tertanam kalo hidup tuh enaknya gini kali ya, nunggu waktu solat terus ngerjain hal-hal lain di tengah-tengahnya. A day could be bad or good tapi solat tetep tepat waktu lah itungannya (riya ga nih astagfirullah).
Bener-bener ya I've done hard things (like PhD) in the past tapi anxietynya family planning tuh ga kaleng-kaleng. Harap-harap cemas menjelang waktu dapet, sedih kalo ternyata dapet, ulang lagi tiap bulan, bismillah semoga Allah kuatkan dan kasih rejeki anak yg sholih/sholihah aaamin.
