Constantly thinking about how WWX thinks about JC how he thinks JFM thought about YZY but mostly as how he denied and yet carelessly commented JFM thinks (disregards) about JC

It is so, so, so fucked up and one of the reasons why chengxian is so doomed by the narrative bc no matter what JC does or says, WWX already "knows" what is about. Bc JC is his shidi and WWX knows best. And still, pre masacre, pre core exchange, it could have work. It could have, because they love each other so much but JC lost his core. WWX thinks he chose his parents. He thinks Jc choose the dead bodies of his parents, a filial duty, over survival, over him. And he never forgave Jc for it.

Bc now is WWX turn to assume the consequences of his shidi actions, now it is his turn to bear the pain for him. And he does not do it with reluctance, he does not, he does it bc he loves Jc so so much, but still. Still. The hurt it caused it. The hell it send to him. The hopelessness.

And then to see his shidi thrive were he can’t no longer. To see him shine when he is but a shadow. To see him reach for the impossible time and time again as if it was not WWX who never gave up before, who rallied his shidi over his (small, imagined, greedy) woes. To see all that and know envy, envy he had denied his whole life and envy he will repress into resentment, into sth useful bc WWX is not like yzy or Jc he is not, he does not hurt the ones he lives with his jealousy and sense of inferiority. Bc how can he not envy, when one says his dad doesn’t love him but he still has a dad? When one says he is not enough for his sect when he has such a inheritance, such a clear path at life. And WWX never cared never ever ever, how could he? He loved his shidi best, in spite of all the bad things.

And somehow, Jc himself is a thing he has to be loved in spite of. And it’s heartbreaking.

This is my Final Verdict as to who is the closest SVSSS character to MDZS Jiang Cheng's character. I'm not saying they are 100% same characters but there are similarities here and there. Got it?

Luo Binghe (Mostly Book 2) = emotional rollercoaster, I already explained it here, I thought Book 3 LBH no longer have JC resemblance but I was wrong! The moment LBH start crying because he's always left behind by the people he love near the ending of main story. That's Jiang Cheng in Guanyin temple alright! I like what Shen Yuan said that the reason why LBH end up in this point is not because SQQ left him but more like its about of series of events he experienced in his life. SQQ leaving him is just the final blow. There are other elements involved that don't only revolved around SQQ and WWX. Shen Qingqiu is the one who returned the jade pendant though while Jiang Cheng is the one who returned the flute to Wei Wuxian.

Liu Qingge (Half of Book 2 and Book 3) = I say they have more similarities in personality, supporting character who don't sugarcoat his words, showed how caring he is as shidi through actions, can be arrogant who strongly hate demons/demonic cultivators and not interested in romance but nevertheless still honest in what they felt, Bai Zhan Peak led by LQG and Yunmeng Jiang sect led by JC are both praised in their prowess when it comes to physical activities. Like I remember Yunmeng Jiang is known for producing cultivators who excelled specifically in archery, swordmanship, swimming, physical activities etc? Just like how Bai Zhan Peak viewed as the musclehead or martial artists who love fighting.

Shen Jiu = doomed by narrative as character, not favored by majority of readers and protagonist (SY/WWX), they hated the wrong person because they are mentally unstable/qi deviation, I'm very sad about them... they deserve better. The feeling that both characters are designed, Shen Jiu and Jiang Cheng are made so that we can feel bad more about protagonists' backstory (WWX/LBH)

Thing that kind of frustrates me about mdzs modern AUs, as someone with chronic illness: Jiang Yanli (pretty much always) and Wen Ning (usually) are written as totally healthy. In canon, Yanli almost passes out from the exertion of... throwing a flower (mdzs), and Wen Ning needs to spend time in bed recovering after a night hunt (cql, I'm not sure about mdzs) because his soul got damaged when he was a kid. They're both sickly, with weak cultivation and much less physical stamina than other characters. But in modern AUs, Yanli is bustling around the house with a kid balanced on her hip, making food for everyone with a smile, and Wen Ning is generally quiet and socially anxious but still active and up for every wacky escapade that might be happening. I'm not saying every fic has to focus on their health issues, but it would be nice to have it mentioned once in a while. Maybe Jin Zixuan is taking care of the baby because Yanli is too exhausted to get out of bed, or maybe she has to duck out of a party early because she feels a migraine coming on. Maybe Wen Ning keeps painkillers and an inhaler in his backpack because he needs them so often, maybe he has to check his blood sugar before deciding whether he wants dessert because he's diabetic - just some little thing like that.
