Hey, again, wickedcriminal, I see that the half brother au posts have returned and I am so happy I was going through withdrawal I had to reread all my how to train your Dragon books in order to pass the time. I also wanted to thank you for inspiring me to reread them. The books were so much darker and better than the movies. I would be able to finish all of them if I had them ALL!?! Seriously I have books 1-8. I have trying to get the final ones but my local book stores never have them in stock! Though seriously, I wanted to thank you for posting such an amazing little alternate universe story, I cannot wait for your story to start getting some more attention, and your book based of it to start I will be their to start reading it as soon as it comes.

I would like to go onto my asks now, as with the new law that I’ve recently seen I’ve had a couple of questions that I now have, so if if the twins are keeping a score of how many times one the kids get kidnapped doesn’t that mean that all of them have been abducted at some point? Also what are those situations even like cause if the twins are keeping score than Elder and Youngers friends must have some pretty memorable abduction stories they have to talk about. Wonder who has it worse?

The Twins keeping score is hilarious, and I'm sure all of the Riders have gotten their fair share of snatching at some point, with the Twins keeping a nice little tally board on the wall of the clubhouse and the Hiccup brothers are in the lead by a LANDSLIDE 😂 what can they say, they're just very kidnappable ASDHKLSGK

As for who gets kidnapped more; that's a great question! They've both been kidnapped by plenty of people ever since they were kids and all through the canon. The Danger-Brutes, the Romans, the Hysterics, the Berserks (especially when Dagur became chief), and eventually the Dragon Hunters (who are the Lava Louts in this au) all capture and hold the boys prisoner/hostage/ransom multiple times. It's easy to say they probably lost count.

But when it comes to getting snatched by their personal enemies, there is a winner!

Hiccup E has a nice little group of people that want to snatch him and have snatched him multiple times, including Madguts the Murderous (taking the place of TV Alvin in R/DOB and snatching him and Toothless several times), Viggo and Ryker (both separately several times in RTTE), and Krogan (Midnight Scrum in RTTE).

Hiccup Y has a smaller roster by only one person, which includes Dagur (taking Younger instead of Gustav in RTTE), Alvin the Treacherous (the 2nd and 3rd books in R/DOB and the 8th book in RTTE), and Norbert the Nutjob (book 7 in in RTTE).

So its looking like the contest for the most kidnappings goes to Hiccup the Elder!!! 🎉🎉 Someone get that boy a prize!!

Also watched Defenders of Berk again…

…also good Continuation, strong beginning for the Season. Astrid and Hiccups Chase is very funny and the Twins reaction to the Flight Club. Understandable that Stoick imposed flight ban, I mean his son was kidnapped one Episode ago. Still Love how deeply he cares for Hiccup and that this fact is also part of the Shows. Forgot to mention I like that they are reusing a little bit of the Soundtrack from the first Httyd, for example in the end of Fright of Passage you can hear Coming back around. Also love the Flightmare, cool glowing Dragon with frightening scream. Many very cool Dragons are in this Season like the Screaming Death, what a Badass and the Skrill, magnificent Creature and fits to Dagur very well. In Free Scauldy I love how Astrid messes with Snotlouts Head, ahh I love her she’s a Queen. Also Hicctooth Team Work in Frozen, excellent. The whole episode looks pretty cool, even if the Animation is not as good as in the movies. What I most appreciate about Episodes like Tale of two Dragons, it’s nice to see that Hiccup talks to his Dad about his Problems with his Friends and also gives him advices to become a better leader. No wonder Hiccup is an amazing Chief in the end of the Trilogy. Also the twins living their best lifes when their Dragon goes insane near the end of the episode. Savage and Dagur are the perfect Villainous Duo, love them. And it gets better in Cast out with Dagurs Boot. Hiccup. And Jealous Savage on the side. For the end of the season I also really like how they end the rivaly between Hiccup and Snotlout. The final scene with Stoick and Hiccup made me emotional. When Stoick says to his son he will be a great Chief one day maybe one of the best. And he was so right, Stoick would be so proud of Hiccup if he could see him in the end of the Trilogy.

The Dagala Dilemma

Dagur and Mala are two of my favorite characters. They're also my favorite couple in Dragons. That said, I don't like how RTTE handled the relationship.

These characters have one episode of interacting before they decided to get married (two if you include "Saving Shattermaster" where cloaked Dagur stopped the Hunters from attacking Mala and Throk. Too bad that was never mentioned. What a cute way to meet your future S.O!). Then one more, ONE more episode really which was when they announced the engagement. I don't think the very last episode counts for much because they didn't exchange lines. Just one line, then a kiss on the cheek. Somehow, we didn't even see these two kiss on the lips since Hiccup and Astrid decided to make out at the wedding instead.

It's a shame because I've seen a lot of people dislike this ship and I think that's a reason why. The show never tries to demonstrate how they work. Just argue, bond over the twins' mediation methods, then get engaged and married. Life is short, but...rushing that a little, you two. If Viking unions are forever, that's all the more reason you want to make sure you know someone. Even in the engagement episode, we didn't see them interact much. They announced it, then they pulled Dagur away to drop off metal. What's worse is that I really think they could go the distance (cue Hercules) with their relationship. I can genuinely see them growing old together, having happiness and some grandkids by then. You'd just never know from the show. Here's why I think it could work:

For starters, I love that it gives Dagur an opportunity to be around someone who doesn't know him as his bad self. He will always have to prove himself to the others. There's nothing he can do to make them forget who he was and they shouldn't. He killed an entire island of people. Dagur really was a villain. He's also really a better person who has put his life on the line for them several times, with or without them hating him. Mala gives him a clean slate. She doesn't peek think back on the time he almost killed her because he never did. In their entire time of knowing each other, he's been Dagur the Deranged, but he's also been a good guy. He doesn't have to try to stay on his best behavior to make her know he's better, he can just be himself.

Along with that, I think they'd be good influences on each other. Mala seems like the type who doesn't like to show much emotion. She is the unfazed, calm, and strong queen of the Defenders. She tries to contain what she's feeling. One of the examples of this that I loved was when the Riders first met her and she thought they stole the Great Protector. Mala is in such a state of rage that she breaks the arrow in one hand as she processes what happened. Hmm, rage. Wonder who understands that...

Dagur's a lot of things, but shy about his emotions isn't one of then. Even in the first gif with them together, we see Mala really happy and laughing. I don't think there's another time in the show where she's laughed at anything. I could see Dagur helping her realize that being strong and stone-like aren't the same. She can be furious, overjoyed, sad, or whatever else she's feeling and still an amazing leader worthy of respect. He'll just be there to help her through it.

Mala is also calm and strong enough to match Dagur. She's not going to cave to his idea of having the kids of the island start juggling swords. I could see her being patient and considerate by explaining which actions are potentially dangerous/harmful for someone. She wouldn't make him feel crazy or foolish either. She'd just help him as she learned to understand his mind. With her being less easy to anger, Mala could be the voice of reason while Dagur is trying to calm down. I could even see them doing meditating together.

They're also both violent. Mala was ready to KILL Hiccup and the others. She made that very clear. It's something they have in common that they both planned to kill the poor trainer who's on everyone's hit list. I think it's overlooked how ruthless she can be. This is perfect for Dagur. He can get some of his violence out as they do couple battling and Mala won't look at him like he's some monster. They'll be right at each other's side, killing whoever dared to get close.

So, I really think this is a couple that could work. I wish they got more screentime, but at least fanfics and headcanons can fill in the rest. And I still mad we didn't see them do the dance of blades, but I'll get over it...maybe.

Dagur: Oh wonderful! Mala is in expecting of a third child and she says the most colorful threats lately. But no matter what horror images go through her mind, I'll love her even if she decided to throw me to the dragon eels. Again.

Viggo: Huh. I was hoping for a better reaction from someone who's life I have saved. However I do understand your precautions. My sins are yet to be redeemed. Perhaps if you see what I've been working on the past few years, you might come around. Berk is no longer only dragon haven now.

Eret: He's not kidding. He even have dealt and tamed some of the dragons you never have. And during our rescue missions, the Speed stingers are a big help.

"Hey, Dagur that's great! Well, not the threats part... that's a little concerning."

He raised his eyebrows. "Is that so? I can't believe it! That's amazing! And speed stingers... That's one way to do it. They aren't mad when the paralysis wears off?"

This. Is. Amazing😍😍😍😍!!! I love it so much! It makes me so sad for the poor siblings too, but that just makes it even better because I love when any form of art makes me feel strong emotions. The bruises on Heather 🥺. The fresh slash and how Dagur's STILL in the middle of getting attacked, judging by the grip on his remaining hair😭😭. So wonderful.

I will forever preach that Dagur’s redemption arc is better than Zuko’s.

Like Dagur took time away from people to realize that he was the problem and tried to better himself for his sister and his people and put his life on the line multiple times to protect his sister and to prove to others that he is better (instead of yk taking advantage of their weak mental states and putting them in danger).

Zuko on the other hand got mad at Aang for not wanting to kill Ozai, was a horrible brother to Azula and left her alone with Ozai after telling him that Azula lied and that the avatar was alive, took advantage of Katara’s fragile mental state and took her to kill someone, and literally just said “sorry” when he found out he destroyed Suki’s village.

Ep8 - Shattermaster, the best dragon, is back!!

I'm guessing by the end of the episode she's going with Dagur - I feel a little bad for it, but I never really expected Heather to stay

"Ruff and I are the best booby-trap sniffers that have ever sniffed a booby-" Ruff glares at him "... trap"

The twins are fun

Dagur is being too pushy about this, but I guess it's a bit understandable - still, I feel for Heather, the girl is torn in two

Btw, are Heather and Fishlegs even offically dating? We never got a conclusion to that

Once again, Ruff being the big sister, and once again, the twins separated and fighting for different causes - so so satisfying to watch, I'm loving this episode

Tuff's offended "Oh, my goodness" when the hunter called him a girl was super funny

Is the biatch seriously trying to break apart the twins? So who's gonna break it to him that not every set of siblings is like him and his brother?

Soo, even dragon-proof chains can be broken, you just need a loooot more fire power than what a single dragon possesses

Ep11 - "We've dealt with way worse" "Snotlout doesn't count" pfff, poor Snotlout, Astrid doesn't miss a single opportunity

Snotlout's little appreciative stare as Fishlegs lowered the clubhouse's door - child has a crush

Why did Stormfly fly away when Astrid got hit? She's her rider, she should protect her at all costs right? And if it was just dragon instinct because of the blast, which is what I'm guessing, why didn't Toothless run away too? I'm being nitpicky again, I know, feel free to ignore this, but it's just that if it were Toothless with Hiccup in that situation, the Night Fury would not retreat and cover Hiccup immediately

I dunno, it just gives that feeling that Toothless has more conscience than the other dragons, I dunno. I'm thinking too much probably - he is the main dragon of this show, it's normal he's shown more and in a more humane way, if that's the right word, and they probably wanted Hiccup to rescue her, but still.

This was a long venting comment, I apologize

"Of course, Toothless is right there, everything's peachy for you" Okay, now I feel kinda bad but I was gonna mention that too, Toothless got to stay in the clubhouse but the others didn't

And it can't be about size because if so, at least Meatlug could've also joined them

I'm gonna give them the out that it's because in an emergency, Toothless couldn't fly away and escape from danget like the others

On a brighter note, the twins and Snotlout are worried for their dragons and I appreciate the worry

Ohhhhh crap - now I feel like I cursed Astrid when I predicted way back in S2 that this show was gonna like to hurt her

Was the whole "I'm putting my foot down" supposed to be an amputation joke for Hiccup? Because I kinda understood it like that, but I'm not sure

I appreciate that she's listening, albeit a bit reluctantly and obviously it's Hiccup she's listening to. But, in the beggining of the show, I'm not so sure she would've - it shows that Astrid's also come far

It's moments like that one where Hiccup tries to comfort Astrid that remind me of much of a good relationship these two have - also, they almost kissed ahhhh

I'm really liking these concepts, are there any fanfics out there that explore this episode further? The riders dealing with each other's dragons or Astrid coping without her sight?

Honestly, knowing the way Snotlout and Hookfang work, you really should've managed out your wording better Fishlegs

Okayyyy, that was the quickest, randomest ending ever - the last 3 minutes felt like a speedrun of the possible series final. There's still 2 seasons to go tho, so let's see how this goes

For the record, I don't believe either Ryker or Biatch are actually dead - no one dies in these shows, not like this at least

And that's the Season 4 finale! I watched S4 so fast, it's irreal. I'm sad to know this journey is closer to ending tho, I'll miss it :/

Literally it’s why whump fics are so fun but i would love to see it in animation!

Both new scenarios and in canon, especially with the episodes where they did get injured but don’t show it, like the fight with Hiccup and Johann I so badly wanna see the blood and bruises and all that or in Zippleback experience can we get Hiccup with a bruise and Snotlout’s mouth filling with red pls - it would probably take away from the silliness of scenes like that but I think it could add something if Hiccup just gets this slight bruise and Snotlout just gets absolutely destroyed. Astrid getting shot too! Let us see the wound bleeding or something when Heather is helping her walk! There’s so many possibilities!

And getting to see the mental repercussions would be amazing, and again fanfics do a wonderful job of this but it would be so fun to watch it play out. The shows does do a really great job at hinting to things with facial expressions tho (I love watching The Night and the Fury and seeing Hiccup and Dagur talk at the campsite, especially Hiccup when Dagur is talking it’s so good for showing hints at things!) but them all having late night conversations discussing all they’ve been through and what they will have to do, is great.

ok so httyd is a family friendly franchise, yadda, yadda, yadda, and this may be slightly unhinged but I want to see a version of race to the edge that has actual injuries and deaths caused by dragons and not just the vague implications of throwing men overboard

like stormfly should shoot a guy straight through the eye with one of her spikes. toothless should do a plasma blast through someones abdomen and they just fall apart. i wanna see some dude running around screaming cause hookfang set them on fire.

you know that scene in game of thrones where viserys gets molten metal poured on him? you know who could do that? meatlug. and when barf and belch light their gas, people shouldn't get singed, they should explode!

and then the riders have to deal with the psychological impact of watching people die in horrible, gruesome ways that they caused. they don't enjoy killing, but sometimes it's necessary and the only way to escape or stop someone from causing more harm.

hiccup and fishlegs would probably be the most averse to violence and it would take a strong toll on them

anyway that's what fanfic is for, and my THW rewrite is gonna have a lot of gnarly dragon-based injuries and deaths

my life was good,i had amazing friends,a beautiful wife,wonderful kids,and a great mom.

i thought my life was finally at piece,i thought all the trouble i went through when i was younger was finally gone,but i guess i was wrong,again.

because i was now in a strangle place.

it looked like it was a building.

but it wasn't like any hut i ever been in before,the materials were so different,they didn't see like they were made out of wood,but rather a type of stone,maybe.

astrid: hiccup?

i turned to see astrid,my wife.

astrid: where are we? i don't know this place,one minute we were in bed cuddling,and now were in a building,this better not be the twins pranking us again,because i swear to thor if they are i will kick there a-

i looked and saw the thorston twins,tuffnut and ruffnut.

ruffnut: ya,we also woke up here,and we both agree we do pranks together so we don't accidentally go into the prank.

Redemption arcs! A wonderful trope that’s often done terribly (kyle ron) but there are some amazing character arcs in animated series. 

I really love the idea that kids can grow up with these characters, with the idea that even if you made mistakes or wrong choices or got mixed up with the wrong people, it’s never too late to change and work on being a good person and making the world a better place.

Ok finally finished Dragons: Race to the Edge so here are my thoughts

Animation is a LOT nicer than Riders/Defenders of Berk. Still a bit stiff and wonky but it just looks better and they did a GREAT job with the dragon flying animations.

I really cannot tell of Dagur hates Hiccup or is in love with him

I'm SO SO SO glad we got to see how Stoick met Skullcrusher

I'm also really glad that Gustav kept Fanghook he loves his dragon so much 🥺

Almost had a heart attack when Tuffnut said the word "Hell". Really did not expect cursing in this show. I know it's not like, a super severe curse word but it still caught me by surprise

The musical episode with everyone singing to the baby Death Song is one of my favorite episodes of all time. Snotlout actually has a really nice singing voice! I wish we got to hear Astrid sing more than she did though :(

Everyone always talks about Hiccup's relationship with Toothless but AGH Astrid and Stormfly are adorable. They work so well together and Astrid loves her so so so much. Even after being blinded she wanted to go out and look for Stormfly and when she thought she was poisoned Astrid punched a fucking Slitherwing with her bare hands knowing she might die, but she wanted to at least save Stormfly. And in the same episode she drew a picture for Stormfly to cheer her up SHE LOVES STORMFLY SO MUCH

I was a bit worried about the ending because I wasn't sure how they were going to have it tie in with the second movie, but they did a nice job with having Hiccup not actually see the Bewilderbeast.

Overall I REALLY really enjoyed this series. The humor was amazing and I love seeing all the new types of dragons. I was so sad watching the last episodes because I knew it was over :(

So I remember a long time ago, we discussed Hiccup's and Heather's attire and how they seem to represent their want to protect themselves from unwanted attention.

Sudden thought about that: Heather has decorated herself in sharp, shiny metal armor, as if saying "stop right there, can't you see I'm dangerous." Meanwhile, Hiccup's attire is more rounded and consists of muted colors, so more of a "I want to blend in with the background and shield myself from you" typ of deal. It makes sense with having a Night Fury for a dragon as they are made to blend in.

But also, what the real purpose of this ask is, is that we also discussed Hiccup possibly growing an aversion for touch and what would happen if there was to be a third villain after Dagur and Viggo to show Hiccup unwanted attention. I thought of Maeve and of the fanfic you wrote with her, the one that ended with Eretcup, and I wondered if there was a third after all. (If you like to think that the games are canon, of course)

I don't know much about Maeve, I honestly think the story is told very clumsily because of how goddamn long it takes to progress to the next itty bitty bit of dialogue, but what do you think? Maeve does seem overly interested in Hiccup and her interest is even compared to Viggo's by Savage. (I think)

First of all, absolutely amazing points about Hiccup and Heather’s attire! I never actually thought of that, but you’re absolutely right. Heather stands out like a venomous frog in a rain forest, and because she stands out, everyone knows she’s “venomous.” And Hiccup is definitely more of the hiding type, even was before he met Toothless.

And oh yeah! There are a few times in the game where people compare Maeve’s interest in Hiccup to Viggo’s and wonder if it’s more than just enemies for her. I’m at a point in the game where she’s “switched sides” (I don’t believe her for a second.) I personally think she’s just cozying up to Hiccup to deal the final blow. So there are probably interesting things in their dynamic that aren’t being shown on the screen. Astrid doesn’t trust her and I can see her getting jealous when Hiccup gets over his discomfort with Maeve and starts to share his dragon knowledge with her. I can see fights happening between Hiccup and Astrid over Maeve and the whole role she plays in this, which, I think is part of her point. She’s probably trying to divide and conquer. (Now, I could be proven wrong, but I’m doubtful that I will be.) I’m glad you brought her up though, because she has the makings of an interesting villain. We see Hiccup’s discomfort fade as he begins to trust Maeve, but I’m sure that once she stabs him in the back, that same lack of confidence and desire to hide himself and keep himself safe will come back.

Deranged Attraction

I think it's a shame that we only saw Dagur and Mala go from fighting to being in love because I would have LOVED seeing what flirting Dagur looked like. That then made me think of other people flirting with Dagur. It just is amusing me way too much, so I have to share. You have the different Dagurs and I'm convinced they all would have such varied responses.

You have younger Dagur before he's actually a villain. I feel like he wouldn't know he's being flirted with (if his idea of fun was being drowned/drowning someone, I can't imagine how he'd process someone getting flustered around him.). I'd feel so bad for whoever that crusher was because it would be pointless. This Dagur could probably even be asked out and he'd just wonder why he would want to do that when he could be tormenting dragons instead: "Want to go get something to eat with me tomorrow?" "I'm going to be alone hunting dragons." "I can come too." "Then I wouldn't be doing it ALONE, would I? 🤨"

Younger and villain Dagur might be more aware of this since he already knows that he can interpret things very incorrectly with people. So, instead of thinking all those batted eyes are allergies, maybe they're supposed to be romantic. This doesn't mean there's any more hope for romance. He's angry at everyone now, so he'd just take it out on the poor soul. Dagur would probably only keep this Viking alive because it's fun to have an attack dummy: "You're inviting me over 😍?!" "Yeah, I can't throw knives at myself😈."

Then there's older villain Dagur. He's going to make the most of someone who has a crush on him. He'll charm this Viking so much and have a new minion. He probably doesn't even like whoever this is, but he'll use the devotion to his advantage as much as he'd like. He's slightly nicer than his younger counterpart just because he knows he won't get the same loyalty he wants otherwise. If the crusher ever becomes a liability, Dagur has an ax ready: "So, we'll really get married?" "Of course😘! As my betrothal gift, all you need to do is get me the Dragon Eye."

Finally, there's older good Dagur. I feel like this would be adorable. He's a bit of a combination. He doesn't immediately know someone's flirting, but he figures it out. He just doesn't think anyone would have a crush on him, so it seems out of the realm of possibility to him. After he realizes what's going on, there are options. If the feelings aren't returned, he'll probably try to nicely let the Viking down. I can see him accidentally not doing this as nicely as he thinks he is and then feeling bad. If the feelings are returned, there will be some very awkward flirting back. I can see him blushing a lot (like he did sometimes with Mala) and rambling. It normally ends with a nervous smile, then a strategic retreat to not make the situation more ridiculous than he just did: "It's come to my attention that you don't think of me as just a friend. Since I'm trying to be more honest, I wanted to let you know that those feelings aren't returned and I'm not attracted to you at all. 😄 Honesty's the best! I feel amazing now!" "😭" "😦" Or "🤔😃You and Strykie have something in common. You're both hot. 😳I mean, his fire is and you are. Not him on his own. You don't remind me of a dragon😅. Of course, you're both tough, so maybe you ARE like a dragon, but only if you want to be! I won't judge. Can't either. I've done way too many messed up things to call you out. Not that you're messed up... it's just that I am.😅🤪😶🏃‍♂️"

K - Say something nice about someone in any of your fandoms

First off, *you* are seriously awesome. I love your fandom tastes and interests and you’re cool to talk to and I feel like I should talk to you more because it’s always a great enjoyment. And every time you have a take or impression on fandom anywhere, I feel myself nodding along and being like, “Yes! This!”

And I want to add on another person @maski1 is a wonderful human being to talk to, too. You’re really friendly and I love that you go out of your way to talk to people like me on the internet. It means a lot and makes my day to have that communication. <3 These back-and-forth interactions are what I wish more of tumblr was about in 2021.

I - Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why

No offense intended to anyone who is part of any of these fandoms, and no offense intended to any of the shows, etc. themselves. My answer is reporting the facts of what happened to me, and that’s all.

I never checked out Steven Universe. Part of it was that the premise, storytelling style, etc. did not jive with my interests from what I saw from the outside. I still hold to that. Even if I didn’t know about fandom culture, I’m not sure I would’ve gotten gungho into it. But also. A huge part of me never diving into Steven Universe was I did not like the fandom I saw on my tumblr dash. I won’t get into what specifically made me grimace, but it made me grimace a lot that it took away 99% chance of me watching the show.

The VLD fandom also cooled my interests interacting with others online for that show. VLD is still in my top four favorite television shows (alongside Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Gravity Falls, and USA The Office). So the fandom didn’t diminish my love of the show, but it did tamper with my enjoyment of some episodes, and once the fandom started being poos whose viewpoints and attitudes I blatantly disagreed with, I disengaged from 95% of the fandom. But again. To be clear. I love Voltron, I love VLD, I love the broader Voltron universe, and when I’m with my irl friends or close url friends, we’ll still go Voltron-hard.

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)

So I’m thinking through my fandoms and I can list off three things I want to see less of immediately hahahaha. Uhhhmmm. MORE OF. Okay. Let’s do the standard HTTYD answer and go:

1. More platonic-driven bonding of non-primary characters. How about good Ruffnut and Fishlegs friendship content? Snotlout and Tuffnut being bros? Hiccup and Dagur as pals? There ain’t nothing wrong with shipping characters, but the entire premise of the dragon riding gang is to be... well... a gang of friends. And I feel like I either see the entire gang presented as friends without delving into subsets, people going after the usual subsets of friendships formed (ex: Hiccup and Toothless), or..... ships.

2. Exploration of dragons in societies outside of the Viking world.

3. Ruffnut love. I can never get enough of it.

G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it

But for the life of me, it’s not pinging tonight who was first.

I think the first ship I was gungho about might have been either Jim and Pam (The Office) or Sansby (Undertale). I feel like I’m forgetting something though...

Hello my beautiful followers!

I am so incredibly excited and blessed to say that you lovely people have gotten me to 500 followers!  I made this blog in October 2018 not long after I rediscovered HTTYD and found this wonderful fandom.  I posted my first one shot in March 2019, just over one year ago; it was an Astrid POV prompt that I doubt a lot of people saw, but it got me interested in writing more.  So I wrote another oneshot in my own world with my own headcannons just to see what would happen.  That one shot was Nesting, and it now has 158 notes (from last time I checked).  Only one other one shot of mine has passed that, and it was Brothers with 190 notes.  I started writing fanfiction just to get back into my love of writing, as a way to relieve some stress and find myself again, and instead I found this amazing fandom and the incredible people in it.  I stayed and continued writing because of the support I got from all of you, and I could never thank you all enough for that.  Your comments and support, here and on FF.net and AO3 as well, have meant more to me than words could say.  

And now, over 40k words, 19 chapters, 187 kudos/favorites, 99 bookmarks/follows, and 96 comments/reviews later between Life After They Left and Meet the Ingermans on FF.net/AO3, I’ve found an incredible community that has helped me through some rough times over the last three years.  I never expected to meet all the amazing people and mutuals and even friends that I have made along the way.  So thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

And to celebrate 500 followers, I have decided to move up an announcement for a project that I have been sitting on for probably 3 months now.  So...

I am officially announcing my first true regularly updated multi-chapter fic! (No, not just a bunch of semi related one-shots like I have now. An actual connected running story line and everything!) It’ll be a bit of a long post with the fic announcement, so I’ll put the details below the break.  I have mentioned this title before in tags for a few posts I wanted to be connected to this work, and I’ve mentioned that I’ve been working on something in author’s notes for LATL and MTI. Not necessarily something I expected anyone to pick up on, but this is that piece I was referring to for anyone that had.  Though it has been a WIP for a few months now, and it is not finished, I have enough outlined and drafted that I’m (just about) ready to start sharing it with you all!

Wingless and Warbound

Zephyr knew from her earliest years that she would be the one to take her father’s place as Chief.  Well, Chieftess.  Whether the people of New Berk were ready for a change like that or not.  Unfortunately, it seems that more people were not ready for that change than she had hoped.  But with a new threat slashing its way through the Archipelago, eyes set on New Berk and the secrets that flew away 2 years before Zephyr was born, she would have the chance to prove herself to her people soon enough.  Whether she was ready for a change like that or not.

This fic will be set in the same timeline as Meet the Ingermans and Life After They Left; though it wasn’t the plan initially, I have basically been using those oneshots to set the stage for this fic.  However, Wingless and Warbound will be set later in the timeline than the current oneshots; for reference, when the Haddock family first makes their appearance, Hiccup and Astrid are 37 years old, Zephyr is 13 (2 months before her 14th birthday), and Nuffink is 10.  Ruffnut and Fishlegs are also 37, and the second chapter takes place 2 weeks before Nutmeg’s 9th birthday (for my MTI readers).  It absolutely won’t be necessary to read the oneshots that make up Meet the Ingermans and Life After They Left for any kind of reference or background, but it will provide history and a bigger picture of the family dynamics and such if that is something of interest.  But if anything comes up that I want you guys to know about, it will be explained within the chapter, and I will more than likely let you know which oneshot the reference came from in author’s notes in case anyone wants more background.

Of course, Snotlout, Tuffnut, Eret, Valka, Gobber, and all of the Berkians we love will be included fairly regularly in Wingless and Warbound, which is something I am very excited about because I haven’t really played with their characterizations much in LATL and MTI.  In addition, there are original characters of mine that I have created for this fic (such as Nutmeg Ingerman), as well as appearances of many characters from Race to the Edge.  We’ll see Dagur the Deranged, Mala from the Defenders of the Wing, the Wingmaidens, and Alvin and the Outcasts.  I’m not sure how long this fic is going to be yet, but I can definitely guarantee 20 chapters.  Past that, I will absolutely continuing writing as long as there is a story to tell; it all depends on how the storyline expands as I write it and if any inspiration hits past the plot I have outlined currently.

The first chapter will be posted Friday, June 5th, at 12:00 noon EST.  From there I will plan to post every other Friday at the same time; I may adjust that to every week depending on what kind of buffer I can build up between now and then, but I will do my best to keep it at every 2 weeks max.

Now I know that’s a little ways away...  And the biggest reason for that is because it gives me a chance to finish out with my college classes before summer break, write and outline as much as possible, and come back from modified-vacation (dang this quarantine).  That will let me stay focused on this fic once I start posting so I can keep on the schedule I’ve made for myself.

So until then I will post a teaser every week on Friday around noon EST (just like the chapter posting schedule, but this will be every week instead of every other!).  The teasers may be anything from a short excerpt to a character description to a piece that I’ve written for the story but decided not to use or to only use chunks of.  On top of that, I will answer any asks/comments/tags/whatever else you think of that you guys send/post about Wingless and Warbound to the best of my ability without spoiling any big plot points.  Depending on what the ask is, I will include it in the weekly teaser, or I’ll just answer it when I get it.  Everything will be tagged with “#wingless and warbound” so you can find it easily on my blog!
