during freshman year at bc, ryan gets into a fairly minor fight with his girlfriend julianne (keeping her from irl bc yea) and so he just goes to wills dorm and picks up molly and cuddles with her.

will questions it, “leonard, what are you doing with my daughter?”

“got in a fight with julianne and i feel like shit about it so i’m cuddling with molly to make it feel better.” ryan explains and holds molly right to his chest, smiling at the little girl in his arms.

will is baffled by the honesty. he shakes his head and goes back to what he’s doing. he doesn’t care that much, it’s babysitting without a bribe and he needs to get this homework done.

ryan just lays quietly in wills dorm holding the adorable little baby close. holding molly instantly makes him feel better. baby cuddles are the best and ryan leonard will die on that hill, even if molly isn’t his baby.

ryan and frankie walked down one of the busiest streets in boston; frankie hoping to find inspiration and ryan trying the make sure she doesn't kill her self doing so.

he couldn't understand why she was so reckless with her life? she was very loved and important to so many people. i mean he knew he loved her when he first met her. why couldn't she see how amazing she was?

"I have my fake with me, plus the bouncer adores me so i think i can so get you in" she says acting annoyed but secretly happy. even though she wanted to act like ryan coming along with her was a drag, it wasn't. she liked having him here. it made her feel seen.

"frankie, i still dont think this is the way to solve things" he says to her as they get in line to go into frankies favorite bar.

"not everything has to be solved it just has to be dealt with, and this is how im dealing with it" she said with an eye roll.

ryan opened his mouth to say something but stopped when her phone when off. he sees her screen light up with a Group FaceTime call; her brothers. but to his surprise she declines?

"spam call" she waves him off after she sees ryan eye her skeptically.

"you didn't tell them yet?" he said after a moment.

ryan knew her too well.

"nope" she says popping the 'p'. "and I dont plan on it anytime soon" she adds.

"so you just plan to lie to them for the rest of your life?"

"its not lying, its avoiding. I dont lie" she said not looking at him.

"I think you’re scared to tell them because you know once you tell them. It’ll be real" he says looking at her with a challenging look.

"ryan. this is real life right now, your not dreaming" she says sarcastically, wiggling her fingers in his face.

she was so cute. even if she was being a pain in the ass.

they got to the front of the line, where the bouncer was and frankie was quick to whisper something into the bouncers ear. the bouncer eyes running up and down ryan, before ultimately deciding to lift the rope and letting them through.

"I dont think I want to know what you told him" he said to her as she pulled him by his shirt collar. something that he found to drive him crazy.

"dont be dirty, I just told him you were my gay friend. so dont get with any girls tonight please. he'll know im lying"

"im here to watch you, not to get with girls and party" he says seriously as she orders them drinks.

"no. if im going to let you follow me around like a puppy tonight your going to party with me mr. leonard." she says handing him the drink throwing him these eyes. eyes that have gotten her everything she's ever wanted. those eyes. eyes that made ryan want to complete every wish she's ever wished.

"if I take this shot with you, you have to listen to me, tonight. I know you like to run away. so dont"

"okay! yay!" she says as she pinky promises him.

frankies hallway filled with giggles as ryan said another dad joke. she kept her promise and didn’t run away. it was one a.m. and it had honestly been the earliest she came back from a night out. and to her surprise she was only tipsy. ryan had actually kept her good company all night.

"did you hear the rumor about butter" he says while leaning against the wall as she looks for her keys in her purse.

"ryan shutup please" she said laughing.

"okay. I wouldn't want to spread it anyways!"

"oh god" she said as she looked at him with so much adoration. she didn’t realize how much she needed someone to care and to show they cared. the way ryan did.

“thank you ryan” she said seriously. and a thought couldn’t help but bloom over her mood as she realized what was most likely going to happen.

“anytime pretty” he said as starred into the eyes that make him want to do flips off rooftops.

“I know drew is your teammate and everything, but like please dont be a stranger”

“im sorry?” ryan was confused to what she was trying to say.

is she drunk?

“like im saying since i won’t be around as much anymore and you guys are probably going to wanna be respectful to drew and stuff, just dont be a stranger. so please if you, will, and gabe ever see me just dont be afraid to talk to me. i’ll always be nice.”

ryan couldn’t belive his ears. she thought they were all just going to stop talking to her?

“franks. just because my teammate is an asshole doesn’t mean we dont care about you. you are a person who is easy to love and unbelievably smart. and im sorry drew couldn’t see that. you dont deserve that at all” he said looking into her eyes as Frankie’s eyes couldn’t help but water.

this was the nicest thing a guy has ever told her.

“you really think so” she whispered just realizing how close they were standing next to one another. he smelt like what frankie would call a comfort smell. and as she looked at him she just wanted to trace every one of his freckles while he told her everything that’s ever happened to him.

“I do” he said. luckily for ryan. this wouldn’t be the only time in years to come he would say this to frankie. they both leaned in as frankie stood on her tiptoes and kissed him. a kiss that made her stomach do flips. a kiss that made his stomach do flips.

ryan couldn’t help but wrap his arms around her waist as she wrapped her arms around her shoulders and bring him closer. the kiss felt like they’ve searched for one another their whole lives. it felt right. time stood still.

ryan pulled away first as he realized they were both tipsy and she was probably more tipsy then him. the insecurity of she was going to act like nothing happened tomorrow creeped up on him.

“what’s wrong” she said with a hand on his cheek. her heart dropping when he pulled away.

“im sorry, i shouldn’t. we shouldn’t. we’ll talk tomorrow, go inside frankie” he said stepping away from her.

“did I do something?” she said feeling her heart drop.

“no- its just- i don’t want you to wake up tmrw and regret this, i want it to actually mean something and I dont want to be just another guy to add to your roster” he says not knowing that made frankie feel like shit.

I mean she knows herself she's the type of person to have a good time. but the fact he just thought she was going to play him? is that what drew thought when she was getting with him.

maybe thats the reason he never opened up to me

“dont worry your far from it now ryan!. have a good life” she said opening her door.

“frankie i didn’t mean it like that-“

he couldn’t even explain himself because the door had already slammed in his face.

frankie didn’t know why ryan saying that hurt her so much but it did. he basically just called her a whore in her mind and she wanted to run into her room and scream into pillow. but of course her life never went her way.

standing inside were two out of her three brothers looking like they wanted to strangle her.

“where the hell have you been” luke yelled. as jack got off the phone with whoever he was talking to. mumbling something about how frankie just walked in.

frankie was actually speechless. she never thought her brothers would make the trip to boston to see why the hell she was ignoring them.

“out of all the irresponsible things you’ve done in your life , this has to be the worst. mom was so close to calling the cops. she’s on her way with dad. we thought you were dead!” jack scolds her as she takes off her coat.

"thats a little dramatic"

"no! it isn't. we gave you space but then imagine our surprise when your coach calls and says you quit!" luke counters back. "if your having a manic episode or whatever they call it, tell us. we'll help you" Luke adds in a gentler tone.

frankie wanted to do nothing but run away as she just starred at them. the fear she had been running away since she quit was standing in her living room and they were standing their angry.

"does mom and dad know" she said after a long silence.

"yes. we all have. we've been waiting for you to own up to it and tell us though" jack answered.

"is everyone mad at me" she said as her eyes filled up with tears.

"im mad that you've had us worried sick. I mean I had to resort to asking rutger and gavin to ask their world jrs teammates if they've seen my own sister" Luke said with a scolding look. one that looked scarily similar to her mothers.

"dont listen to him, I dont know why you were s scared to just tell us. its not going to change anything between us" jack said as he walked over to his little sister and gave her a hug.

frankie didn't like hugs. she felt so awkward with them but in that moment she wanted nothing but to sob into her older brothers arms like she once did when the other girls at school were making fun of her because she played hockey and didn't do dance or cheer like the rest of them. she needed her family.

"cmon Luke" she said opening her arm out to her brother who stood of to the side. Luke accepting because he could never stay mad at his little sister.

"just dont ever do this again. if you want attention go find yourself a lover or something" Luke said laughing as they pulled away.

"hey! none of that" jack said not thinking anyone was ever going to be good enough for his sister.

"dont worry jack, I need a break from boys" she said with a sigh as she remembered what happened with ryan about ten minutes ago.

"dont talk to us about your boy problems thats why you have Quinn" jack said gagging.

"quinn also wants you to call him" jack said as he started walking to her guest bedroom.

"you good?" Luke said as he started settling into her couch and noticed her sister looked as if her mind was far else where.

how do I tell him I ruined my reputation. everyone thinks im a slut.

"I dont know"

But she loves all different styles and she loves trying them out, but those are just some of her main pieces of clothing. She really loves wearing low rise jeans or dress pants with midriff tops. When it's colder she loves layering clothes. Or when she just doesn't feel like getting all dressed up she’ll throw on a short skirt and sweater or some jeans and a top. She has all different kinds of shoes, all different types of boots (cowboy, moto boots, platform chunky boots and more) chunky or platform mary janes, sneakers, heels, she loves them all! She's a big lover of steve madden shoes. 

accessories: she loves accessorizing, she loves anything involving fashion really!! She has a large collection of different types of bags and sunglasses(she loves collecting them), they are definitely her favorite thing + jewelry, to accessorize with. She also has quite a lot of hats, mostly ball caps, beanies and berets. She also really loves utilizing long and thin scarves when she's wearing a short skirt or shorts. She is the youngest of the Hughes clan, and as the only girl and youngest that means her older brothers are very protective. Mostly Jack and Luke, Quinn isn’t as intense as the other two.

Quinn is her favorite person in the whole world, she tells him everything. He likes to say that she’s his favorite, and it’s true.

She had the biggest crush on Trevor growing up, he likes to tease her about it. So does Luke.

Jack and Luke scared off all the boys growing up!

She’s not the biggest fan of swimming.

Her love language is physical touch, she’s a big cuddler and she loves holding hands.

Her two best friends are lily (lils) and Carmen (minnie) they have been friends since they were little, lily is on the women's volleyball team and Carmen does figure skating with her.

Because we all know Ryan looks up to Tom so obviously he’s going to try to emulate his play style. But it’s also the fact that Leno is a pest and he knows it. He’ll get into fights and scrums, smiling the whole time like the dirtbag he is.

Meanwhile Tom is just like “I wasn’t that bad was I??”

Ryan Leonard is Tom’s final test, final trial. If he can wrangle this kid into a steady hockey player then Tom will officially be ready to take up the title of captain!!

Of course with a chaotic captain he’ll need an A to help him. And of course that would be Dylan!! Think about it! Tom handles keeping Leno chill and focused on the ice and Dylan handles keeping Leno chill and focused off the ice!

I’ve had a single thought on my brain since I saw that one post about Leno and Will Smiths first game against each other…

Picture: first game against the Sharks, Leno is clearly pissed off but isn’t saying why. He’s been taking penalty after penalty, chirping guys left and right, and just playing really badly.

Tom doesn’t understand what the kids problem is but they are losing to the sharks right now and the kid is only making it worse. First intermission Tom lays into him. Telling Leno to get his head in the game and to focus. The yelling has the opposite effect because right at the start of the period Leno checks number 2 on the sharks, smith, and he immediately gets laid into by some defenseman on the other team. Leno loses the fight and gets 5 minutes for fighting.

During second intermission, it’s Dylan’s turn to talk to the kid, he tries to get through to him in a much calmer, more direct way. Something Dylan said must've gotten through to him. The final period goes a lot smoother, they manage to squeak out a win at the 3 minute mark.

After the game Tom and Dylan hang behind with Leno as he slowly gets dressed. As they leave there is a lone figure in the hallway waiting for them. Will Smith. They all freeze and Tom can see the way Leno tenses up. He makes eye contact with Dylan, they both finally understand what was going on... it's going to be a long night.

August 10, 2020

Mary was lying out on the lawn chair in the backyard of their house in Cape Cod. She was enjoying laying out in the sun reading her book with her headphones on as always playing her Taylor Swift playlist.

She’s been in quarantine with her family for the last few months and it was the longest she has ever went without playing in a hockey game.

The quarantine just got lifted a few days ago meaning Will and Ryan immediately started planning for Ryan and his family to come out to the Smith’s house in Cape Cod.

Ryan and the rest of the Leonard’s were getting here this morning.

Mary flipped over so she was now lying on she stomach letting her back getting tanned as she continued reading.

She was so focused on her book and blocking out the world with her headphones she didn’t hear Will’s excited shouts and hugging Ryan.

Ryan let go of Will and looked over his eyes immediately finding Mary. His eyes widened seeing her for the first time in months besides their facetimes but it wasn’t the same.

He thought she couldn’t get even more beautiful but she has, he spared a glance at Will seeing Will saying hi to his family and he walked over to Mary and stood over her making a shadow appear on her book.

Mary furrowed her brows slipping her headphones off and looking up and she froze slightly seeing Ryan, her eyes glanced to his body before quickly looking away with warm cheeks.

Mary quickly hopped up and smiled softly, “Hi Ry.”

“Hi Ellie Belly.” Ryan grinned brightly and opened one of his arms giving her the option to choose if they hug and his smile widened even more when she leaned into his side giving him a small side hug.

Will bounced over throwing an over both of their shoulders not realizing he broke up their side hug, “We’re all back together!” Will beamed squeezing two of his favorite people making Ryan and Mary share a fond smile.

Will immediately dragged Ryan and Mary out to the water and they spent most of the day swimming around together and all three of them yapping because it has been so long.

Will, Ryan and Mary eventually got out of the water once it was getting close to dinner and they all headed into the house.

Grace was chatting in the den with Ryan’s two sisters Brianna and Alyssa and Ryan’s brother John was chatting with both of the Dad’s while both of the Mom’s were in the kitchen together.

Mary headed to her room to take a shower and Will and Ryan headed to their rooms as well.

Mary winced slightly feeling the distinct feeling of the start of her ear hurting. She is careful when she is in any water knowing that can agitate her ear and she uses a lot of drops before and after she heads into the water and sometimes she will use ear plugs.

She took a quick shower and threw on a pair of comfortable shorts and large t-shirt she stole from Will and put more drops in her ear and decided to rest a bit before dinner so her ear might get better and not be another ear infection.

Mary got under the covers in her bed and put on a show on her iPad before grabbing her blue octopus and snuggled with her stuff animal.

Mary has now had her blue octopus from Will for twelve years now since she was two and lost half of her hearing in one ear. When she was little she would drag the stuff animal with her everywhere and it’s something she always cuddles when her ear is in pain.

Will knocked on the door softly and heard a quiet come in and slowly opened the door seemed Mary cuddling with her octopus and knew her ear was bothering her.

He walked over and sat on the bed and gently rested a hand on her arm rubbing her arm softly, “A bad one yet?” Will asked not thinking her ear is bad yet because she stayed outside for so long.

Mary just shook her head softly no.

“Want me to sit with you?” Will offered sweetly making her nod softly and she moved over letting Will sit next to her.

Ryan walked towards Mary’s room a few minutes later after he couldn’t find either of his best friends and had a feeling they would be in her room, he peeked his head in and smiled slightly seeing them in her bed but frowned seeing Mary cuddling her octopus knowing she only does that when her ear hurts.

He knocked on the door softly and they both looked up in unison looking identical, “Can i join?”

Mary softly nodded making him smile and he walked over to the other side of the bed and climbed in sitting down next to Mary making their elbows brush but Mary just leaned closer at the touch.

“What are we watching?” Ryan leaned over whispering his mouth close to her good ear making her take a deep breath.

“Fast and furious.” Will said knowing it is one of Mary’s favorite comfort movies and he scooted down laying his head down on Mary’s thigh looking at the iPad.

Mary moved slightly getting comfortable and rested her head on her Ryan’s shoulder making him smile to himself and his hand started playing with the ends of her hair, something she only allows Ryan to do.

Grace walked up to Mary’s room a hour later when dinner was ready and none of the three came down she peeked into the room and smiled fondly seeing all three of them cuddled up in some way and all fast asleep.

She raised an eyebrow seeing how much Mary was laying on Ryan and cuddling to him and Ryan’s arm was wrapped around Mary.

Grace shook her head softly, Ryan will always be her two siblings favorite person and she is glad they have him and she closed the door letting the three keep sleeping.

the girl finally felt like herself again. scratch that, the better version of herself. she was finally happy, and life once again held purpose for her, she felt like she had finally found her passion after searching so long to find it and that was the best feeling for the hughes girl.

she would admit that the hours were long, but it was nothing compared to the hours of 'torture', as she would call it, in the rink.

she had everything she'd ever wanted; a job she loved, loving friends, and a passion.

"I have to talk to you," summer said, coming into the brunette's room with a nervous look.

summer had liked her summer so far, only liked. of course, the girl was having a good time, but she didn't know if she held the same passion for modeling that frankie held. she wanted to return to bc in the fall, and that seemed to be the farthest thing on her best friend's mind.

"okay, shoot," frankie said, closing her laptop and focusing her attention on the blonde in front of her.

"you're dropping out?" her mother said, with a look of peer disappointment while her dad and brothers looked at her like she had three heads.

"i'm just going to try it out, nothing's for sure" she tried to smooth it over

"that industry is dangerous, frankie," luke said. the hughes brothers knew that a lot of those models either go crazy on drugs or go crazy trying to look better; they didn't know how they would feel about their little sister joining that whole scene.

"I only want to try it; if I don't like it, I'll return to bc in the fall," she said as she looked at her parents and brothers, who were all looking at her with worried eyes.

"are you running away from something? are you having problems with ryan? that's not a reason to just up and leave and change your whole life-" jack said.

"i'm not running away from anything-"

"seems like it" luke added with a scoff as she furrowed her eyebrows

"i really want to do this-"

"I don't like it," her father said, cutting her off, finally speaking.

"dad-"

"that's enough, frances. we've watched you throw away hockey, we're not watching you throw away your education as well. you don't have hockey to fall back on anymore; you're going to need a career, and moving to new york and partying for a living isn't," he said as her brothers held wide eyes. it was rare that their father ever raised his voice to scold them and even rarer for it to be directed at frankie.

"I'm eighteen; if I want to do this, I will-" frankie said with a shaky voice, raising her own voice.

"yeah? with what money? i'm not going to support this move frances! and god knows that city is expensive-"

"i already have a place to stay, and I have money saved up. I'm going whether you guys like it or not," she said, standing up and going to her room, slamming the door in the process.

"jim, that could have been handled better," ellen said once she was out of earshot.

"she's gone crazy!" the dad of four said.

"no, she hasn't. she's trying to find herself, and if doing this helps her, then maybe it's a good thing" she said before standing up and following after her only daughter.

"can i come in?" ellen asked with a knock.

"If you're coming here to change my mind, you won't," she said once her mother opened the door her back faced towards her.

"i know you won't. you're a stubborn girl. I just want you to remember that everyone in this house loves you and wants what's best for you, that's why hearing this news is a little scary, to say the least, but I'll always be standing beside you with a big sign and balloons no matter what you do" she told her as frankie burned holes into the wall. ellen waited for her to say something, but the stubborn girl did nothing.

"i'll be waiting for when you want to talk," she said softly before shutting the door.

frankie took a deep breath before sitting up and getting up to pull out her suitcase. she knew she couldn't stay here. they all looked at her like she was glass that was bound to break and she couldn't take it. thankfully she hadn't fully unpacked and only needed a couple of things.

the girl waited for everyone to head to bed before slipping out. she was startled when she saw quinn sitting on the island eating a bowl of cereal. the oldest hughes looked at her and down to her bag.

"you're leaving?" he asked his littlest sister as she nodded.

"you have to tell them, they're gonna worry-"

"I left a note," she said, continuing her way out the door, only for quinn to follow her out.

"frankie, don't leave. dad didn't mean to yell at you; he's just worried. we all are-"

"i have to do this, quinn. i'm not going to spend the rest of my life wondering 'what if'. I won't do it," she said, shaking her head as quinn sighed.

"at least let me drive you; you heading to the airport?" he asked, looking at her passport in hand as she looked at him suspisoucly.

"you'd do that?" she asked. quinn and her had never been the closest. he was six years older than her, and they were always at different stages in each other's lives. she was only nine when he left for the program.

"yeah, I'm not letting you take some sketchy cab," he said before grabbing his keys.

"thank you," she said, mumbling into his chest as she hugged him.

"just promise me, you won't be stupid out there, and if you ever need something, you won't hesitate to give me or any of us a call," he told her as they got into the car.

"okay" she said with a nod as they drove away from her home that hadn't been feeling much like home.

that had all been about a month ago. she had yet to speak to her dad but had exchanged a couple of check in calls with her mother and brothers but hadn't really spoken to them. 'needing space to be free' as she liked to call it.

part of her understood where her family's worries had been coming from. a lot had changed in little time. their daughter and sister, who seemed to love hockey like the rest of them, quit out of the blue, and now she was basically dropping out of college. to anyone, that seemed like an episode, but to the girl, it was her life.

the other part of her, though, didn't understand. her brothers left school, jack didn't even go, and they had been nothing but supportive of them. so why couldn't they just support her?

she knew her descion was not only going to cause an uproar within her family, but with her boyfriend as well.

she had barely seen ryan since school ended. he had been busy with the development program, and she had been busy with shoots. the two rarely got to talk. she had been feeling distant from him, and she knew he felt it too. he also still held hope she'd return to bc in the fall

Eight year old Mary held onto Will’s right hand as they walked into the rink for the first day of the summer hockey tournament that they joined together.

Their Dad dropped of their hockey bags for them and they headed into the locker room seeing a lot of boys around their age.

Will squeezed her hand softly seeing her flinch just slight as they walked into the locker and how loud it is.

Mary is still trying to get to use to how loud locker rooms are especially that there isn’t any place for the sounds to go like it does on the ice. Mary and Will have only recently been allowed to use locker room as they got older and it’s a big adjustment for Mary.

“Want your headphones?” Will leaned over immediately whispering softly to his baby sister.

The Smith family figured out that Mary wearing over the ear noise canceling headphones and playing quiet music is something they helps her a lot when the world has to much sound for her.

Mary took a deep breath and shook her head slightly making Will nod and he walked them over to their stalls, that were luckily right next to each other and he looked at the stall next to his, Ryan Leonard. The stall next to him was still empty so Ryan wasn’t here yet.

Mary and Will both sat down in their stalls and started to get their equipment on when a boy rushed in to the locker room and right to the stall next to Will and quickly sat down letting out a loud breath, he was obviously late.

Will couldn’t help but snicker softly at the boy making the brown hair boy look over at Will, “I’m Ryan!” Ryan grinned catching his breath as he just ran from his mom’s car to the locker room.

Ryan’s entire eight year old world froze as he starred at the most beautiful girl he has ever seen, he immediately thought she like a princess but she is even more prettier than a princess, “H-hi!” Ryan quickly sputtered and he didn’t know why his face felt so warm.

“Hi.” Mary quietly mumbled giving him a small smile, his hair looked fluffy and very pretty.

Ryan stared at her with what could only be described as heart eyes.

Will didn’t realize he broke Ryan’s stare at Mary when he asked Ryan where he was from.

Ryan quickly shook his head and answered Will. The boys started talking so naturally and Mary would pipe in every once in a while and when she got on the ice with them she said a bit more.

That was the start of the friendship between the three of them.
