Oh thank you @mafaldinablabla, that's one beautiful formal kimono we have here!
The lovely pattern mixes auspicious plants, with ume (plum blossoms), bamboo and bamboo grass (take and sasa), ran (orchid), matsu (pine), tsuta (ivy), nanten (nandina) and manryô (corralberry). The ground has higaki (cypress lattice) pattern.
It's hard to be sure without the exact background history, but I feel this piece could be part the white part of a 3 pieces bridal ensemble called sanmai gasane, which was then worn layered by well-off brides:

Other formal outfits of Heian ancestry - Kariginu, Hoi and Nôshi attires
(as worn by samurai of the Edo period - great charts by Nadeshico Rin). You can find more about samurai ranks and their regulated attires under the tag "samurai kimono".
The Kariginu
狩衣 Kariginu first appeared during Heian period where they were informal attires worn by kuge (nobibilty) men for activities such as hunting and 蹴鞠 kemari ball games.
Kariginu rose to formal status during Kamakura period when it started being worn by the buke (warrior class). In Edo period, it was worn by upper-ranked samurai (4th rank and above).
Edo-period kariginu designates a patterned clothing (different from the hoi, see below), often decorated with the family 紋 mon (crest). Colors were not regulated.
風折烏帽子 Kazaori-eboshi - black-lacquered hat made of silk, cloth or paper, originally worn by Heian nobility. Many eboshi shapes exist, this one is a upright style (tate-eboshi 立烏帽子) with top folded to the left.
末広 Suehiro - a type of formal folding fan. TN: the fan drawn here ressemble more a 中啓 chûkei, as suehiro have curving ribs which don't seems to be the case here (find more about fan types here)
指貫 sashinuki (or 奴袴 nubakama) - large bouffant pants. Also, note the bare feet! Rin doesn't comment this but this was probably a way to put it below sokutai and ikan (which do have socks)
袖括 Sodekukuri - decorative sleeve ties. Originally appeared on Heian clothings (like kariginu, nôshi, etc) where they were used to tighten sleeve cuffs.
The Hoi
布衣 Hoi is a variation of 狩衣 kariginu (see above).
During Edo period, it was worn by some hatamoto (6th rank samurai) via explicit permission of the shogunate - setting those rewarded by this honor apart from other vassals of the same rank.
Compared to kariginu, hoi were plain solid color.
It is worn here over a 熨斗目 noshime, a samurai kosode (=ancestor of the kimono) with stripes or lattice pattern at waist area.
As for the kariginu, note the bare feet!
The Nôshi
直衣 Nôshi was a type of everyday robes which were first worn by males of the imperial family during Heian era. Formality placed it then above kariginu.
Overtime, their use spread among nobility, and by Edo period, they were a "tad-formal" attire worn by Shogun's family for worship celebrations.
立烏帽子 Tate-eboshi - upright lacquered hat
袍 Hô - round-necked robe with large boxy sleeves
檜扇 hiôgi - formal folding fan made of cypress, also of Heian history. Those were unpatterned as painted ones were for women
指貫 Sashinuki (or 奴袴 nubakama) - large bouffant pants

Kitchen shoji repair
With the new, old reformed shoji in the kitchen, the remaining ones looked a bit sad. So, we've removed, cleaned, sanded, and are replacing some broken lattice pieces.
Though visible with the fresh hinoki (cypress), more than one coat of the water-based brown lacquer should bring them in nicely... New copper nails to secure loose lattice stripes, and new paper colors to be decided.

Effective Privacy Solutions for Your Modern Outdoor Shower
An outdoor shower is a luxurious addition to any home, offering a refreshing way to rinse off after a swim, a workout, or a day spent gardening. However, ensuring privacy while enjoying your outdoor shower is crucial.
Here are some innovative and stylish privacy solutions to help you create a secluded and comfortable outdoor shower space.
Natural Barriers
Hedges and Shrubs: Planting dense hedges or tall shrubs around your modern outdoor shower can create a natural and aesthetically pleasing privacy screen. Options like bamboo, privet, or arborvitae grow quickly and provide excellent coverage.
Trees: Strategically planting trees around your shower area can offer both shade and privacy. Consider fast-growing varieties like Leyland cypress or Thuja Green Giant for quick results.
Vines and Trellises: Installing a trellis and allowing climbing plants like ivy, jasmine, or wisteria to grow over it can create a beautiful and effective privacy barrier. This solution adds a touch of greenery and can be customized to fit any space.
Structural Solutions
Wooden Fencing: A classic choice, wooden fencing provides solid privacy and can be tailored to match your outdoor decor. Options like cedar or redwood are durable and resistant to moisture, making them ideal for outdoor use.
Bamboo Screens: Bamboo screens are a stylish and eco-friendly option for creating privacy. They are easy to install and can be moved or adjusted as needed. Bamboo also adds a tropical feel to your outdoor shower area.
Stone Walls: For a more permanent and robust solution, consider building a stone wall around your shower. Stone walls offer excellent privacy and can be designed to blend seamlessly with your landscape.
Modern and Creative Solutions
Frosted Glass Panels: Frosted glass panels provide a sleek and modern look while ensuring privacy. They allow light to pass through, keeping the shower area bright and airy, but obscure the view from outside.
Outdoor Curtains: Installing weather-resistant outdoor curtains around your shower area is a flexible and stylish way to create privacy. Curtains can be drawn when needed and opened to enjoy the view or let in more light.
Lattice Panels: Lattice panels offer a balance between privacy and openness. They can be used alone or combined with climbing plants for added coverage. Lattice panels are available in various materials, including wood and vinyl, to suit different styles.
Portable and Temporary Solutions
Portable Screens: Portable privacy screens are a versatile option that can be moved and adjusted as needed. They come in various materials, including fabric, wood, and metal, and can be folded away when not in use.
Pop-Up Tents: For a quick and temporary solution, consider using a pop-up tent. These tents are easy to set up and take down, making them ideal for occasional use or when you need extra privacy on short notice.
Umbrellas and Canopies: Large outdoor umbrellas or canopies can provide privacy and shade for your outdoor shower. They are easy to position and can be adjusted to block the view from different angles.
Combining Solutions
For maximum privacy and aesthetic appeal, consider combining multiple solutions. For example, you can use a wooden fence as the primary barrier and add climbing plants or outdoor curtains for additional coverage and decoration. Mixing natural and structural elements can create a harmonious and visually appealing outdoor shower space.
Maintenance Tips
Regular Cleaning: Keep your privacy barriers clean and well-maintained. Trim plants regularly, clean glass panels, and check for any damage to fences or screens.
Weather Protection: Ensure that your privacy solutions are weather-resistant. Use materials that can withstand moisture and UV exposure, and apply protective coatings as needed.
Seasonal Adjustments: Depending on the season, you may need to adjust your privacy solutions. For example, deciduous plants may lose their leaves in winter, reducing privacy. Consider adding temporary screens or curtains during these times.
Creating a private and comfortable modern outdoor shower space is essential for enjoying this luxurious feature to its fullest. By using a combination of natural barriers, structural solutions, and modern designs, you can ensure privacy while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your outdoor shower. Whether you prefer the natural look of hedges and vines or the sleek appearance of frosted glass and bamboo screens, there are plenty of options to suit your style and needs. With these privacy solutions, you can transform your outdoor shower into a secluded oasis.

Chapter 1: Know Someone
Narrated by no one.
~Content Warning: mild blood, death~
Narrator: It has been a fortnight since the blizzard began, blanketing the verdant pines and cypress trees and deadening any sound.
Narrator: When the storm has finally passed, the forest covering the mountain becomes a silent, sleepy haven.
Narrator: But upon closer inspection, one can make out specks of blood on the otherwise white field, like leaves that have been plucked off trees by a cold gust of wind.
Narrator: Labored breathing comes through the woods... it's the sound of someone trying to suppress unbearable pain. The noise is intermittent and soft.
Narrator: The noise comes and goes and is starting to fade, seemingly about to be drowned out by the layers of snow.
You: Where am I? What's happening?
Lingwu: This is the forest I lived in when I was a child. I was severely injured because a wolf had attacked me.
Narrator: Although the young white tiger tries with every last bit of energy to stay upright, the frigid air numbs it to its bones.
Narrator: Its emerald eyes that used to hold the universe begin to wane.
Narrator: Swoosh... swoosh... swoosh...
Narrator: Bits of crackling sounds reach it. Immediately switching to high alert, the white tiger is ready for a fight as its eyes burn with animosity.
Narrator: He stares unwaveringly towards the direction from which the sounds came.
Narrator: After another round of rustling sounds, a thin figure suddenly appears in its line of sight.
Narrator: He wears a simple kasaya, carries a straw basket over his shoulders, and holds a hardy tree branch as a cane.
Narrator: Surprise flashes in the monk's eyes upon seeing the wounded tiger. He starts mumbling gently as he closes his eyes and puts his hands together.
Narrator: When the monk puts down his herb basket and picks out a few herbs, the tiger lets out a frightening roar as it takes an attacking stance.
Choose "He was trying to treat your wounds."
You: I don't think this monk was going to hurt you. He was trying to treat your wounds, I think.
Lingwu: Yes, but I was only acting out of instinct and didn't know that he meant no harm.
Narrator: The white tiger jumps toward the monk and bites him as he is about to touch the tiger's wounded arm.
Narrator: With its lips dripping with blood, the white tiger stares at the monk.
Narrator: The white tiger has bitten the monk so hard that its teeth pierced his arm, but he never once struggled to break free nor screamed in pain.
Narrator: The monk's face grows pale, but he never stops looking at the tiger with those warm, sympathetic eyes of his.
Narrator: The world around the monk and the tiger falls silent except for the sound of dripping blood, melting away the cold of the winter night as it hits the ground.
Lingwu: The monk was the first human who tried to help me, so I believed that he wasn't a bad person and followed him back to the temple in the mountain.
Narrator: In the blink of an eye, spring arrives and melts the snow.
Narrator: After a mountain rain, a gentle breeze grazes the window lattices of the temple, carrying the fragrance of sandalwood.
Narrator: The monk is meditating on the porch. The white tiger, having fully recovered, regains its lively and playful nature, and is running around freely, covered in mud.
Monk: Hey, look at you...
Narrator: The tiger doesn't understand the words that came out of the monk's mouth, but it thinks the monk was asking to play with him.
Narrator: The tiger runs to the monk and rubs its head against the monk's body.
Narrator: The monk smiles as he tries to run away, but loses balance and falls down onto the floor.
Monk: Hahaha, don't make trouble, Little Tiger.
Narrator: The monk and the tiger play like this until the sun gradually begins to set, and the monk begins to prepare dinner.
Narrator: As the monk opens the steamer's lid, the Tiger Cakes fill the air with a delicious aroma. The tiger gets closer for a better look, enjoying the smell.
Monk: I didn't know Yue Prefecture City's sweets would suit your taste so well. I'll make sure to bring some more back for you when I go there next.
Narrator: The monk looks down the mountain, and the white tiger follows his gaze.
Narrator: There is a sea of sparks dotting a vast expanse of red; the lights of the thousands of homes in Yue Prefecture City.
Monk: I wish I could take you with me, but tigers would frighten people, unfortunately.
Narrator: The monk turns around to the tiger and gently touches its head.
Narrator: It's spring again. The white tiger runs with a bundle of herbs in its mouth and puts them down on the porch, roaring excitedly.
Narrator: The monk is so absorbed in recitals and meditation that he doesn't notice the tiger's calls.
Narrator: Seeing that the monk remains absolutely still, the tiger roars toward the sky once more.
Narrator: The monk slowly gets up and walks towards the white tiger, reaching out and touching its head affectionately.
Narrator: His face is deeply wrinkled with age, but the smile in his eyes is the same as ever.
Monk: Thank you for bringing these herbs for me. These should be enough for me to get some Tiger Cakes for you from Yue Prefecture City.
Narrator: He wastes no time putting on his straw basket, his back clearly more hunched than when they first met.
Narrator: With a bamboo stick as support, the monk starts descending the mountain. The white tiger keeps its watch on the old monk not far behind.
Narrator: The monk, however, trips and falls on the muddy road after only a few steps, covering his kasaya in mud.
Narrator: The mountain path has grown too slippery for walking after the rain.
Narrator: The tiger thinks the monk is trying to play again, thinking that he is just taking his time to get up. This time, however, the monk never gets up.
Narrator: When it hits the tiger that something has gone awry, it runs up to the monk and keeps bumping its head against the monk's body.
Monk: I am... fine...
Narrator: Despite his words, the monk no longer has the strength to descend the mountain. Without standing up, the monk quietly closes his eyes, his chest heaving weakly.
Narrator: The monk seems like a piece of driftwood in the water, not knowing where or what to cling to as it struggles to stay afloat in search of an unknown shore.
Choose either "It's okay, I'm sure the old monk will get better in no time" or "Don't be too sad."
If "okay," ...
You: It's okay. It wasn't a serious fall, and I'm sure the monk would get better in no time.
Lingwu: That was what I believed, too... I had never imagined that he would leave me so soon.
If "sad," ...
You: He's old, and the fall probably took a toll on him... don't be too upset.
Lingwu: But I never thought he'd leave me just like that...
--
Narrator: After that day, the monk never makes a full recovery from the fall.
Narrator: One afternoon, suddenly having recovered a bit of spirit, he sets up some sandalwood incense on the porch and gestures for the tiger to join him.
Monk: What are you going to do after I'm gone? No one is going to bring you Tiger Cakes anymore.
Narrator: The white tiger looks up at the old monk, its emerald eyes holding the old monk's aged but gentle face.
Monk: ...Remember, never leave the mountain. I know you have a pure heart, but the people below the mountain only know you as a beast, and they will be afraid of you.
Monk: As long as you remain free in the mountain and forest, you can live happily without getting hurt.
Narrator: Although the white tiger could distinguish the monk's joys, angers, and sorrows, it is too young to understand his words.
Narrator: But this time, the tiger has no trouble understanding what was said to it.
Narrator: At the journey's end, the soul returns to the sacred land.
Narrator: As the old monk closes his eyes, the white tiger feels a wave of intense emptiness surging from deep within.
Narrator: The tiger suddenly understands why it is crying, and the monk's last words.
Narrator: Those who have been touched by the monk's kindness gather for the burial.
Narrator: As they gather, the white tiger only watches from the distant mountain. It upholds the monk's last wish to stay away from humans.
Narrator: Snowflakes slowly flurry down from the silver sky. Hidden amidst the trees behind the veil of snow, the tiger gazes silently at the little temple.
Narrator: Then, following a long cry from within the forest, the white tiger was seen no more.
You: I can only imagine how devastating it was for you...
Lingwu: It was. I couldn't even tell the old monk a word of thanks for everything he'd done for me, and I couldn't even build him a proper gravestone.
Lingwu: But if I were a human, I would have been able to speak and write, and I would have been able to chant him sutras and build him a gravestone...
Lingwu: If I were a human... I would have been able to do all of these things and not live with these eternal regrets.
Narrator: Later, a merchant passes by and notices a white tiger huddling up beside a grave.
Narrator: Seemingly unaware of the snow covering its body, the tiger is letting out whimpers so heart-wrenching that they make the snowstorm feel all the more lonesome.
Narrator: Month after month, the tiger remains by the grave, until eventually, spring comes to melt the snow.
Narrator: The gravestone has also been overgrown by emerald pine saplings. Only then does the lonely shadow disappear.
You: Where did you go?
Lingwu: Spring is when the townspeople travel up to the mountain. Remembering what the old monk had told me, I moved deeper into the wilderness.
Lingwu: I don't feel as sad anymore, but if I could ever turn into a human, would I then live happily ever after?

Isaiah 60:1-22 LSB
[1] “Arise, shine, for your light has come, And the glory of Yahweh has risen upon you. [2] “For behold, darkness will cover the earth And dense gloom the peoples; But Yahweh will rise upon you, And His glory will appear upon you. [3] “Nations will come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising. [4] ¶“Lift up your eyes round about and see; They all gather together; they come to you. Your sons will come from afar, And your daughters will be carried on the nurses’ hip. [5] “Then you will see and be radiant, And your heart will tremble and be large with joy; Because the abundance of the sea will be turned to you, The wealth of the nations will come to you. [6] “A multitude of camels will cover you, The young camels of Midian and Ephah; All those from Sheba will come; They will bring gold and frankincense, And will bear good news of the praises of Yahweh. [7] “All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered together to you; The rams of Nebaioth will minister to you; They will go up with acceptance on My altar, And I shall adorn My glorious house with beautiful glory. [8] “Who are these who fly like a cloud And like the doves to their lattices? [9] “Surely the coastlands will hope in Me; And the ships of Tarshish will come first, To bring your sons from afar, Their silver and their gold with them, For the name of Yahweh your God, And for the Holy One of Israel because He has adorned you with beautiful glory. [10] ¶“Foreigners will build up your walls, And their kings will minister to you; For in My wrath I struck you, And in My favor I have had compassion on you. [11] “Your gates will be open continually; They will not be closed day or night, So that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations, With their kings led in procession. [12] “For the nation and the kingdom which will not serve you will perish, And the nations will surely be laid waste. [13] “The glory of Lebanon will come to you, The juniper, the box tree, and the cypress together, To adorn the place of My sanctuary with beautiful glory; And I shall make the place of My feet glorious. [14] “The sons of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you, And all those who spurned you will bow themselves at the soles of your feet; And they will call you the City of Yahweh, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel. [15] ¶“Instead of being forsaken and hated With no one passing through, I will make you an everlasting pride, A joy from generation to generation. [16] “You will also suck the milk of nations And suck the breast of kings; Then you will know that I, Yahweh, am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. [17] “Instead of bronze I will bring gold, And instead of iron I will bring silver, And instead of wood, bronze, And instead of stones, iron. And I will make peace your overseers And righteousness your taskmasters. [18] “Violence will not be heard again in your land, Nor devastation or destruction within your borders; But you will call your walls salvation, and your gates praise. [19] “No longer will you have the sun for light by day, Nor for brightness will the moon give you light; But you will have Yahweh for an everlasting light, And your God for your glory. [20] “Your sun will no longer set, Nor will your moon wane; For you will have Yahweh for an everlasting light, And the days of your mourning will be finished. [21] “Then all your people will be righteous; They will possess the land forever, The branch of My planting, The work of My hands, That I may show forth My beautiful glory. [22] “The smallest one will become a clan, And the miniscule one a mighty nation. I, Yahweh, will hasten it in its time.”

Poem of the Day 28 November 2022
‘Unlike are we, unlike, O princely Heart!’ By Elizabeth Barrett Browning UNLIKE are we, unlike, O princely Heart! Unlike our uses and our destinies. Our minist’ring two angels look surprise On one another, as they strike athwart Their wings in passing. Thou, bethink thee, art 5 A guest for queens to social pageantries, With gages from a hundred brighter eyes Than tears even can make mine, to play thy part Of chief musician. What hast thou to do With looking from the lattice-lights at me— 10 A poor, tired, wandering singer, singing through The dark, and leaning up a cypress tree? The chrism is on thine head—on mine the dew— And Death must dig the level where these agree.

Chu Wanning’s name
“It happened to be twilight and the bell chimed; between heaven and earth, only a trace of blood red sunset remained, and it poured through the lattice window and lit up the desk.
The sound of bell reverberated across the temple. Outside the courtyard, monks were burning cypress wood and pine needles, their rich fragrance was mixed with some chill bitterness.
Night was about to fall; all was peaceful at the temple.
‘Then I’ll call you, Chu Wanning.’
Huaizui whispered to the wooden figurine as the sonorous bell rang out one final time.”
- chapter 238, “No Soul” (my translation)
This is one of the most poetic passages in the book that radiates a feeling of gentle serenity; but there’s also a vague touch of gloom and foreboding with the bloodlike colour of the fading sun and the coldness and bitterness that accompanies the fragrance of the burning wood. In this sense, the passage both forms a contrast with the turmoil and suffering of Chu Wanning’s later life and hints at it.
“Wanning” (晚宁) means “peace at evening,” but could also mean “peace that comes late/belated peace.” This second meaning of CWN’s name is suggested in chapter 279 where the brief period of peace that Chu Wanning and Mo Ran shared together before Mo Ran’s death is described as 晚来的安宁, “peace that comes late.” Chu Wanning’s name is embedded in the description as the first and last characters of the phrase together form “wanning." For Chu Wanning, peace does come very late after two lifetimes of mistakes, torments and miseries, but it’s not too late fortunately.

Something There (Part One)
Shigaraki Tomura X Villian!Reader (GN)
A/N: This beautiful artwork is by @knifeewifee and it inspired this piece! Visit her original post here. I’ve been daydreaming about vacationing to a hot spring so much lately, that I wrote something to go with that. I love to see happy Tomura. (Spicy Part Two coming 5/10/20.) Enjoy!
Part One / Part Two (Smut 18+)
Summary: Giran arranges an all expense paid trip in hiding for Shigaraki plus one at a private ryokan (resort with onsen/hot spring and inn). The LoV’s leader gets to experience a few more new relaxing activities than expected.
Warnings: None, mini amount of angst from mutual pining
Word Count: 2.3k
A sharp poke into your arm pushes your eyes open to the darkness of your sleeping corner as you awake from a deep sleep. You turn your body over on the mattress before reaching out to grab your phone from the cold wooden floor; tired eyes attempt to focus on the bright screen.
“Friday. 6 AM? What the—,” you groan out to no one.
You hear cloth and metal being rustled around behind you, so you turn to confront it in hopes of getting back to sleep. Your eyes widen a smidge when you see your friend attempting to shove his favorite red coat into his only travel bag. He’s hunched over his mattress, which always lays next to yours.
“Tomura, the hell? Were you the one who poked me?”
“Yeah, it took me ten minutes to try to get you to wake up. I would have poked your face too, but I didn’t want your drool on me,” Tomura smirks and points towards your mouth.
You furrow your brow while dragging your hand across your mouth and cheek. Like a fool, you wipe at your dry skin. You groan and rub into your temple as he continues to fumble with his clothes. “Well, did you need me for something or—?”
He finally zips his bag closed. “Yes, pack up some things to wear for two days. Giran is sending me away until Sunday, and you’re coming with me.”
You and Tomura sit quietly in the back seat of a black car driven by someone in a dark suit. You watch acres of crop fields and sakura trees fade by as you wait for any crumb of information to be told to you.
“Hey,” you turn to Shigaraki, finally deciding to confront the situation. You pause when you realize he’d fallen asleep leaning back against the headrest.
You take the chance to trace your eyes around his features. Lately, he rarely wore a hand to cover his face in front of any League members. However, this made your time around him a bit more difficult as you had caught romantic feelings for him pretty early on. He’s one of the few people to give any ounce of attention to you, and maybe it’s human nature to fall for the one person you can’t have. Getting to finally see his face is enough to even ask for in return for what you've done for him as a villain. As a friend.
“What do you want?” he looks down his nose, watching you from across the leather bench.
His eyes catch yours only after you had the chance to gaze upon his jaw. “Oh, uh hey, where are we heading?” you stutter out, leaning back in your seat. “Heh,” he breathes out a laugh at your surprise. “I don’t know where we’re going. So, you should get some sleep. Then maybe, I could stare at you too,” he nods your direction, and it’s difficult to tell if he’s serious or not.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to bother you,” heat bubbling up to the surface of your cheeks.
“It’s fine, Y/N.” Shigaraki awkwardly tries to give you a smile before gazing out of his side window. “Giran only mentioned that I needed to be further from the city for the time being. But, the place he set me up for requires guests to bring someone with them. I chose you. So, what?” He hides further into his hoodie.
Again, the ride is quiet for the rest of the way.
—
Your pristine, dark car had been driven several hours into the countryside of Japan. As the car slows to a stop on a gravel driveway, you press your forehead against the cool glass of the window. The building is a small, traditional establishment made of cypress wood, bamboo, and stone. When you look towards the front entrance, it’s decorated with many large leafed plants off to both sides of a stone pathway. The roof hangs low as an overhang for the small patio at the end of the path. Dark, curved clay tiles line the roof up to its peak and to the sides that hide behind a wall of tall leafy bamboo stalks. The private ryokan you have now found you’ve been driving all this way for is nestled into the foot of a mountain. You wouldn’t have guessed that your bank broker would execute an idea to send wanted criminals out to an inn and outdoor bathhouse.
The driver parks the car and leaves to walk around to your door. He opens it and ushers you to leave. You can't help but throw a look back at Tomura hoping for his guidance as you've never seen any place like this before. He unbuckles his own seat belt and nods towards the door, beckoning you to follow his lead. You grab your small duffel from your lap and sling it over your shoulder before stepping out onto the driveway. Hundreds of smoothed pebbles crunch beneath your feet as you walk yourself to the end of the stone pathway that leads to the entrance. The air feels somewhat chilled, a light breeze grazes your nose as you wait for Tomura to meet you.
The next thing you hear is the car being driven off of the pebble driveway back onto the street you came in from. “C’mon, Y/N.” Shigaraki walks past and you quickly get rid of the flying thought that he would have left you there stranded. You catch up to walk beside him. Both of your shoes make soft squeak noises while walking on the stones wet from the mist. The large fauna you had seen before are now brushing against your shoulder, as well.
Just before you reach the porch, the sliding doors open and an elderly woman walks out in a casual kimono, sweats, and slippers. You both take off your shoes and set them on the porch, and she offers you both a set of slippers similar to her own. She ushers the two of you inside the inn with a smile and bow. “Welcome, Shigaraki-sama and Y/N-sama” the woman and her husband greet. Tomura gives a curt nod and bow to the inn owner before shoving the jacket hood off of his blue locks. “We’re the couple that owns and runs this establishment. We hope you enjoy your stay at our private ryokan. We have plenty of activities for you to fill your time here together,” the man recites.
You look to Tomura in bewilderment, but he’s busy looking around the lobby for any sign of a ruse. “Thank you. We appreciate your hospitality,” you offer. It looks like you’ll have to be the one to speak for the two of you.
“Let us walk you to your room. It must have been a long drive from Musutafu,” the man bellows. The couple begin to walk the two of you to the back of the inn. The lobby had looked to be as traditional as the outside. You follow the couple on smoothed stone flooring that catches the reflection of the dimmed light fixtures on the ceiling. You had noticed an extra room near the entrance, which you assume is probably used by the couple. The walls lining the hallway you walk down are made from shoji, paper sheets held in lattice frames, and are just enough privacy to feel comfortable. Which was much more than you’d ever experience being in the League. You either sleep on the ground or one top of one another. But, Tomura always ends up being by your side.
At the end of a hallway are two sets of large sliding doors facing each other, assuming you would receive your own room for once, you grow excited.
“Here is your room, sir,” The husband says before pushing the door to the side. Tomura enters the room with the man; the new sound of tatami floors brushing against the sole of their slippers comes to your ears. You stand watching as your friend walks about a large living room around a short legged dining table with two cushions on the floor for sitting. The backside of the living room has two, large, open sliding doors as tall as the ceiling. Through the open doors, you could see a short set of cobble steps that led down to an entire porch made of the same stone material. Your heart beats harder in your chest at the sight of a blanket of steam floating slowly above a hot spring surrounded by a tall wooden fence, lined with the same bamboo stalks as the front. Shigaraki opens up a set of doors of his own on the right wall of the living room. You peer around the corner to see a plush, king-size futon mattress in the middle of the separate bedroom. It's accompanied by a wide wardrobe with two extra pairs of outdoor slippers at the foot of it. You had never experienced anything like what the couple have presented you, so slight jealousy enters your head knowing the room you would be set up in wouldn’t be as lavish as your commander’s.
“Mx. Y/N, please go on in,” the elderly woman sets a comforting hand on your shoulder and holds out a guided hand to the living room. Your head spins towards her voice, unsure to enter your boss’ new space. “Make yourself comfortable and unpack. Feel free to use anything within the wardrobe in your bedroom. We will have a wide dinner selection available for later tonight. Of course, it will be brought here for you both to enjoy each other's company.” She continues.
“We get to share this room?” You rush to ask before they leave you alone. “I assumed I would stay in the one across the hall.”
“Oh, there’s only one guest living space at our inn. These other doors lead to our indoor onsen and sauna room,” She smiles proudly at you, then to Shigaraki whose face looks just as shocked as your own. The couple’s faces drop suddenly when they realize, “Was it not safe for us to assume you are romantic partners?” The husband speaks up.
You stand in silence as you watch as Tomura’s hands clench into fists at his sides, and takes a step toward the couple. With this, you rush to his side to put a strong hand into his shoulder, hoping to stop him from doing something disastrous. “We are partners, but just, not in that way. We only work together. I’m so sorry for the misunderstanding,” You tried to calm the room as much as possible knowing that if you were forced out of the nicest hiding spot Giran has offered you, you would both learn to regret it.
The couple is unfazed by your friend's flare up. Countering Tomura's stance, the woman steps forward with a soft expression, “It’s perfectly fine. We work with your broker to protect his clients. We’ll continue to do so, as long as you both maintain respectful behavior.”
He releases the tension from his body, choosing only to look into your eyes as an apology. “Alright, then. Everything is fine, huh, Y/N?”
“Yeah- Yes,” breaking eye contact to face the couple again. “Everything's great. Your place is so gorgeous, by the way.”
“Good, then. We’ll leave you be now. Enjoy!” The couple bow and leave the room, closing the doors behind them.
The room is as silent as the car ride you had taken earlier. Only the trickle of water flowing from bamboo shoots into the outdoor hot spring echoes into the living room where you stand watching one another to do something.
“What time is it? That water looks really nice,” you look away before rubbing into your eyes. Even though it might feel nice to sleep after Shigaraki’s rude awakening from this morning, you still want to experience the relaxing things offered to you while you have the time. It might just be a once in a life time opportunity.
“Around 10 AM, I guess you could use a bath,” he turns into the bedroom, laughing at his own humor.
“Me?” you laugh. “Maybe it could wake you up. You might just be a little grumpy from getting up even earlier than me,” you tease.
You follow him to the bedroom and stride to check what's inside of the wardrobe. It holds a blanket and comforter for the futon in a cubby, a few drawers for clothing and items, and a clothing rack off to the side. The rack holds four yukata varying sizes and colors, from navy blue to soft pink. The obi you use to tie around your waist rests on a shelf underneath the rack, also colored to match the fine yukata.
“If you actually want to go into the water, then you should wear one of those,” he advises from behind you. Shigaraki plops himself onto the futon, watching you brush your hands across the robes’ fabric. “Pick a yukata and a belt.”
You choose a navy yukata and light blue belt to wrap with, and set them to the side for yourself. Then, silently hoping he’ll indulge you. You bring a black yukata of its hanger and light gray obi off from the shelf.
“You only need one, put the other back,” he commands from the floor.
“I was just…,” your pulse quickens. “I was thinking you could come out and join me,” you admit, wrapping a belt around your fingers, anxiously waiting for his response.
His eyes widen as he looks up at you. “You know you’d be fully n-… in the water... ,” he pauses, clenching his eyes shut. “Whatever, you don't want to see me, and I don't want to see you like that,” he huffs out. “We’re partners, but not like that, right, Y/N?” he spits, admitting his annoyance at your reaction to the owners assumption about your relationship.
“I’m sorry, Tomura. I didn’t mean for it to sound so harsh,” you lay his yukata and obi on the mattress and walk towards the patio. “But, if I did want to see you, then would you come out and meet me when you’re ready? It doesn’t have to be even more than that. I just thought we could experience these things together,” you say from over your shoulder.

Sonnets from the Portuguese (III)
by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Unlike are we, unlike, O princely Heart! Unlike our uses and our destinies. Our ministering two angels look surprise On one another, as they strike athwart Their wings in passing. Thou, bethink thee, art A quest for queens to social pageantries, With gages from a hundred brighter eyes Than tears even can make mine, to play thy part Of chief musician. What hast thou to do With looking from the lattice-lights at me, A poor, tired, wandering singer, singing through The dark, and leaning up a cypress tree? The chrism is on thine head,—on mine, the dew,— And Death must dig the level where these agree.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s poems (originally published in 1850) are in the public domain.
