A short little thing to go along with this from @willows-adventures-in-words
***
Layne was huddled up on his living room couch under a blanket. Cyndi was doing something in the kitchen, and the girls were at school. It was the morning after Tony had rescued VoicePlay and brought them home, and Layne still couldn't stop shaking. The plug in his neck felt as if it had swollen to three times its size, and he had to keep touching it to make sure it wasn't growing. Stupid, he knew, but his mind was going crazy.
Kurt had been smart, Layne had to give him that. Cyndi had shown him the video that Kurt had posted of them, and he'd barely made it through thirty seconds of it before he'd had to run to the bathroom and throw up his breakfast. Thousands of people had witnessed VoicePlay's captivity and torment and thought it was nothing more than a clever collaboration project. Even if they went public now it would just be seen as the next part of the production. No one suspected a thing. Kurt was safe.
He heard Cyndi's phone ring and then her soft voice. "Hello? Oh hi Kathy.... Layne's resting right now." A pause as Kathy obviously talked, and then Cyndi gasped. "Oh my God. Is he okay?"
Geoff? Layne sat up and listened. His mind went back to the previous afternoon when Tony had been driving them away from Kurt's hideout. Eli and Earl had both been groggy and had slept most of the time. Geoff had stared straight ahead, eyes wide, unmoving except for the occassional head bob or arm twitch. He hadn't said a word.
Cyndi's worry was evident in her voice. "Okay. Okay, I'll keep an eye on Layne. You should let Nick and Ashley know to...Okay. Let us know if you need anything. Keep us posted. Bye." Cyndi fell silent.
When the silence stretched out Layne forced himself to walk to the kitchen on wobbly legs. "Cyndi?"
Cyndi looked up, startled. "Layne! You should be resting." He didn't resist as she pushed him back toward the couch.
"Did something happen to Geoff?"
Cyndi was quiet for a long time after Layne was seated back on the couch. She finally whispered "Geoff tried to pull his plug out with pliers. Kathy had to take him to the hospital. He almost bled to death."
Layne covered his plug with his hand without thinking. Like his, Geoff's plug was in his neck alongside veins and arteries and nerves and...Layne shuddered. He had thought about trying to pull the plug out, but those thoughts went out the window. "Is...is he going to be okay?"
"Kathy said he's in surgery now. They have to finish removing the plug and repair the vein." Her eyes watered. "Layne, I know you want it out, but don't--"
"I won't. I promise." He curled up in his blanket. A spark of anger that was directed at himself as much as it was Kurt flared briefly. He should be stronger than this. He had to think about Cyndi. About his girls. About VoicePlay. They'd need him... "Can...can we go see him?"
"After he's out of surgery. I want you to rest for now."
"I can't."
"Please try at least."
Layne nodded. "I'll try." He laid back down and let her tuck the blanket around him. He closed his eyes, but sleep never came.
***
Layne adjusted the scarf around his neck as he and Cyndi got off the hospital elevator. It was really too warm for a scarf, but Layne didn't want people staring at the plug in his neck. He fought to keep his expression calm as he and Cyndi found a pale and haggard Kathy in the waiting room.
Cyndi hugged her close. "How is he?"
"Not good." She pulled back from Cyndi. "It's...hard to explain. I'll let you see for yourselves."
Layne braced himself as they walked into Geoff's room. Geoff's neck was heavily bandaged and a plastic tube drained red and yellow liquid from under the bandages into a vial. His eyes were wide and blank and his mouth was moving, but Layne couldn't hear what he was saying. He leaned down and put his ear close to Geoff's mouth.
"...build a rocket ship, then we'd fly it far away." Geoff's voice was weak and hoarse. "We would dream of outer space..."
Layne jerked back in horror. Kathy spoke behind him. "It's that song. The one...He's just performing his part over and over. Like he's stuck on repeat."
"Dear Lord," Cyndi said softly.
Layne watched as Geoff's head drooped and his eyes closed. The end of the song. He waited, and after about a minute Geoff jerked awake and his mouth began to move soundlessly again. Kathy's voice was thick. "He lost his voice forty-five minutes ago."
"My God," Layne whispered. "Why don't they sedate him?"
"The nurses say since he's not being violent, a doctor needs to examine him first."
Layne felt Cyndi's arm go around his waist and hold him close to her. Tears stung Layne's eyes as he watched Geoff. He knew that in Geoff's mind he was back in that studio hideout, plugged in, being controlled against his will. And Layne had no idea what to do to help him.

More for the 21 pilots mashup thing I work on sometimes. The other part I posted can be found here.
Whumptober prompts 26: Nightmares breakfast table | parting words regret | “I'm haunted by the lies that I have loved, the actions I have hated.” word count: 560
~-~-~
He felt himself waking up. Though his mind was foggy, Layne listened to the footsteps walk across the room. And the voice that accompanied them. “-is doing really well.” Layne realized he was still plugged in. “So I was thinking we should start to decide on the next one. Waving through a window is pretty popular. Could have you guys do that one.” He walked around behind him as he continued talking. “Maybe do a throw back and go for a Disney song.” It was a struggle, but Layne managed slight movement in his arm. Only to realize he was restrained. Wrist tied to the armrest of the chair he was seated in. Right. The consequences of his actions. “But I guess before we do something like that I should figure out how to get you guys to be more animated.”
Kurt was quiet but Layne could still hear his footsteps for a moment. There was silence for awhile. He didn't hear him leave. He was still in the room. Layne tried to think. How long has it been? Months? He had no idea. Too many blanks. But... He had to do something. Layne was pretty sure he was the only one lucid enough to try anything. Did he want to risk moving? To find out where their captor was? His fingers twitched. “Hm? No, you're not trying that again.” Footsteps. “Time for you to clock out.” No. No no no. The cord was pulled. No... Then the heavy darkness fell over him.
-~-
Layne jerked awake. Shoving the blankets off, he nearly fell out of bed in his hurry to get up. He was breathing hard. Panicked. Eyes darting around the room as his hand went to his neck. Then his eyes shot over to the window. Taking his hand from his neck he pulled the curtain back. It took a minute before it clicked. Home. He was home.
He stepped back, the curtain falling closed, leg bumping against the bed-frame, and slumped down on the edge of the bed. His hand found its way back to his neck, covering the electrical plug. “Layne?” came the tired voice of his wife. He heard her, but he wasn't listening; his mind someplace else entirely. His heart pounding. It was so vivid. Felt like he was still there. Still... “Layne.” He let out a shaky breath and lifted his head slightly as Cyndi stepped over. She knelt down in front of him. His eyes followed her. He tried to focus. Drag himself back to the present. “You're okay.” She lifted her left hand and gently rested it over the one he held to his neck. “You're safe. You're safe and home.” She removed her hand and rested it on his cheek. “You're home, Layne.”
After releasing a shuddered breath, he leaned lightly against her palm and whispered, “I'm home.”
“Yes you are.” Layne could hear she was near tears. They lingered for just a moment longer before she got up and held him. He wrapped his arms around her. They both needed this. He's only been back home for a handful of hours. Layne closed his eyes and just focused on the sound of Cyndi's heartbeat. Her breathing. And soon her sniffling as she quietly cried in his hair.

An Uninvited Guest (Villains Lair) — PattyCake Productions music video
youtube
As the cadre of big bads reconvenes at the castle, revelations about the Evil Queen's failure to obtain the sundial lead to the unveiling of traitors in their midst. The apparent plot was doomed from the beginning, thanks to the plan beneath the plan. But when you're working with so many notorious villains, a little backstabbing should be expected, shouldn't it? Where will the conspiracy lead them next?
Details:
title: Villains Lair — s.1, ep.8 — A Uninvited Guest
performers: Michelle Knight (Evil Queen); Alejandra Martinez (Maleficent); Navid Nowakhtar (Jafar); Andrea Stack Dunn (Lady Tremaine); Tiffany Trilli (Cruella De Vil); T. Robert Pigott (Captain Hook); Chris Ross (Dr. Facilier); Russell Warner (Frollo); Rachel Copeland-Evans (Vanessa); Helaina Wize (Mother Goethel); Emoni Wilkins (Ursula); Jaimz Dillman (Queen of Hearts); Adam Paul (Gaston / swing); Brianna Fogden, Anna Ricks, & Cassandra Ariel (swings)
written & arranged by: Layne Stein & Tony Wakim
screenplay by: James Keaton, Tony Wakim, & Layne Stein
release date: 31 March 2020
My favorite bits:
Maleficent's smug satisfaction at the Evil Queen's frustration
the revelations that the villains had banded together before in order to banish Ursula, and that Facilier had tricked them into releasing her
Gaston, Mother Goethel, and Cruella trying to slip out as the confrontation heats up (Methinks the fur-clad lady doth protest too much…)
Lady Tremaine implying that Scar is leading the guard patrol
icky Frollo creeping on Vanessa in his typical form
the shock of Lady Tremaine losing control of her emotions
Facilier and Ursula laying out their ultimatum
bringing the season full circle with that ominous reprise of "What Goes Around Comes Around"
Trivia:
Many of the wide shots for this episode were filmed the previous summer in order to include Ursula. The guys worked to accommodate Emoni's schedule, since she lives in Nashville and is often on the road in her career as a singer.
Because of the challenges of scheduling such a large cast, they called in several of their swing cast members to act as stand-ins for established characters in group shots. Most of the dialogue is framed in single medium shots with each of the principle actors who were filmed in a separate session.
Emoni and Rachel originally played Ursula and Vanessa two years earlier in "The Grande Mermaid". That project also had a protracted filming schedule due to circumstances beyond their control.
Robby is something of a method actor. Once he's in costume, he's in character and interacts with everyone accordingly. Layne's wife Cyndi brought their youngest daughter Doris to the studio for a visit so that their little Tinkerbell could meet Captain Hook.
At the time this episode was released, Tony and Layne already had scripts and songs in the works for the next season. They made sure to temper fans' expectations, though, since they didn't want to bring their cast and crew into the studio to film until it was safe for everyone.
With the completion of the season, PattyCake gathered all of the songs into an album on streaming services.

Voiceplay Visuals: Boy Bands In 5 Minutes (post 1/2)
I really love this video (even though I'm not originally familiar with all the songs), and there is so much stuff that happens on screen that either I would have to limit the amount of screencaps I take (and where's the fun in that?), or just break it up into two parts (maybe more, we'll see how we go).
This video premiered in June 2019, Geoff was in charge of both the arrangement and the video, and this includes 14 songs!!! And there are different outfits for every single one! Which is why this'll be broken into multiple posts.
Starting off with a very quick snippet of I Want You Back by NSYNC...
...which transitions into I Want You Back by Jackson 5! (Also I want all of their shirts)
Got some fairly simple choreography (or simple-looking at least, apart from the very precise group timing), which often has me dancing along with them! 😄
Also lol rip Layne
The Beatles! (except it's a Fab Five, not the Fab Four!) Layne is Ringo, the drummer, of course, and I wanna say Geoff is being Paul McCartney, since he plays bass guitar, but Geoff's air guitar isn't left-handed. And Earl and J are just vibing
Looking sharp there, boys! 👌
"Wait where did my backup performers the other guys go?"
"You should see the size of his wallet!"
Left to right we have Ashley Jacobson, Cyndi Stein (I hope I didn't get them mixed up), Nick Perez, and Kathy Castellucci. The Voiceplay spouses!
First of all, appreciation for a very smooth transition:
And second of all, appreciation for those red blazers, they are absolutely styling (and Geoff especially looks really good okay bye)
To whoever had the idea to make the guys do the Single Ladies choreo for Walk Like A Man: I love you 😂
This move is NOT EASY. I've tried it, and yeah I could get about as far down as Earl, despite having a few more physical advantages. J None killed it (made it look easy even), but Geoff actually did a pretty good job of it too (also how tight were those pants, I wanna know) (and rip Layne falling over)
"oh thank god we don't have to do any dancing for this bit"
Not always a fan of fedoras, but yeah nah yeah I can vibe with it here (also J is wearing glasses here!)
"M'lady" (I'm sorry)
"Never trust a big butt and a smile" (the immediate contrast/juxtaposition here is just-)
Love the shoes! Also the choreography for this bit is harder than it looks
Okay well this is the halfway mark of the video (half of the songs anyway), so this is where I'll break it off and make a second part, which you can go to here!

Michael Flynn and Clay Clark created and are traveling with this absurd right wing Reawaken America tour. A few highlights are baptizing people into the ‘Army of God’, claiming that Democrats are “Baby butchering mongrels” and that immigrants will take your place. The shows are often held in churches where they claim vaccines are genocide and homosexuals and pedophiles do not honor God. They often declare that Jesus is King and Donald J. Debbie Harry
https://www.unadonnalgiorno.it/debbie-harry/

Part 10 of the Panic! story. I told myself this would be the last part. Apparently I was lying; there will be at least one more. The rest of the story can be found here:
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9
I did a little Googling to find out what the charges and possible sentences would be. Right after that I Googled "when was the can opener invented". My search history is a little interesting.
***
Kathy sighed in fatigue as she laid on the hotel room bed. It was the day after Tony's visit and Geoff had been released from the hospital that morning. Fortunately Kathy had thought to pack some clothes for him so she'd been spared from having to go shopping for some before starting the long drive home. Geoff still couldn't hear, and she couldn't text while driving, so they hadn't talked much on the way. He'd either looked out the window or slept for most of the drive.
They'd gotten some fast food just before finding the motel, and after eating Geoff had wanted to take a shower. He'd been in there a while, but she remembered this was his first shower in nearly a week. It probably felt wonderful, and she was looking forward to a hot shower herself.
She was nearly asleep when the bathroom door opened and he came out already dressed for bed. He smiled as their eyes met. "Shower's all yours."
She nodded and gathered what she'd need, then walked into the bathroom. She was too tired for anything more than a quick shower, but it felt good to clean up. When she walked back into the main room Geoff was already fast asleep curled up on his side. A fond smile crossed her face as she watched him for a few seconds, then she went to the other side of the bed and climbed under the covers, set an alarm on her phone, and then snuggled up to Geoff and held him close.
For the first time in days, she felt like she could breathe. Surely by tomorrow evening, or at least the day after that, they'd be home. She knew Geoff was eager to see William again. They'd pick him up from Geoff's parents and she'd have her family safe and sound in their own home again.
It wasn't something she'd take for granted again.
She closed her eyes and rested her head against Geoff's back. It wasn't long before she was sound asleep.
***
Tony sat in the truck outside of the police station in Orlando. He had to wonder at how he was feeling as he got out and walked toward the doors. He thought he'd be scared when this moment came, but instead he felt this overwhelming relief. As if he'd been carrying a thousand pounds on his back and could finally set it down.
He went through the double doors and waited in line to see the officer at the front desk, who greeted him with a bored expression. "May I help you?"
"Yes." The words came easily. "My name is Tony Wakim. You probably have a warrant for my arrest."
***
Layne was sitting on his living room couch with Cyndi's head in his lap as they watched some made-for-TV movie that Layne wasn't really paying attention to. It had been a long day of calling people and rescheduling, and Layne for one was tired. The girls were in bed, and he knew he'd have to sleep soon, but he wanted this quiet time with Cyndi...
His phone went off. He bit back a sigh as he pulled it out of his pocket. "Hello?"
"Good evening. This is Officer Stilton with the Orlando Police Department. Is this Layne Stein?"
His heartbeat picked up. "Yes. It is." Cyndi looked up at him when she heard his voice.
"Mr. Stein, I'm calling to let you know that Tony Wakim is in custody."
A dull shock went through him. "...He is?"
"Yes. He turned himself in a few hours ago." A pause. "I was going to call your friends who were involved, unless you'd like to tell them yourself?"
"I'll tell them." His heart was pounding thickly in his chest. He hadn't actually believed Tony would go through with it. He'd honestly thought that Tony would turn tail and run at the last second. "Thank you for calling."
"You're welcome. Have a good evening, Mr. Stein."
"You too." He hung up and stared ahead for a few seconds trying to gather his thoughts.
"Layne? Honey?"
He looked down at his worried wife. "Tony turned himself in." He wasn't sure how to feel. There was relief there, but a sadness was starting to creep in. It had been easy enough to rage at Tony when he was running. I should be celebrating. Why aren't I?
She touched his cheek. "Are you all right?"
"I don't know." He swallowed.
She sat up and hugged him. He leaned into her gratefully as she rubbed his back in reassurance. After a few seconds he pulled back and picked up his phone to text VoicePlay.

Kathy jumped when her phone alarm went off. She checked in disbelief as Geoff moved beside her, but it was indeed seven in the morning. She'd slept the entire night through without so much as dreaming, and she felt as if she could have slept another twelve hours.
She forced herself to sit up and stretched her back out. They had to check out by ten, which gave them plenty of time. They'd stop for breakfast on the way. Her eyes fell on Geoff, and she smiled to see he'd tucked his head under the pillow when her alarm had gone off. She was about to shake him when she realized what that meant.
She gently lifted the pillow. "Geoff?"
He groaned. "Okay, okay. I'm awake." He rolled over and looked at her with sleepy eyes.
Kathy smiled at him. "Good morning."
"Good morning." He smiled back, then blinked. "Wait. I heard that."
Her smile widened and she squeezed his hand. "Is it all the way back like normal?"
Geoff shook his head. "It's like I'm underwater." He laughed softly. "Feels weird to hear myself like this."
Kathy laughed a little and laid down for a hug. "Now you can keep me company while I'm driving."
His arms wrapped around her. "I want to listen to music too."
"Anything you want." She rested her head on his shoulder. They'd have to be careful not to fall asleep, but they could hold each other for a few minutes.

Tony looked up at the lawyer he'd been assigned came into the room. The room itself was straight out of a cop show--bare white walls, a table and a few chairs. The lawyer wasn't much less stereotypical--dark-haired, clean-shaven, in a suit and carrying a briefcase. He was young, and there was a sharp look in his eyes Tony didn't like.
"Mr. Wakim?" The lawyer held out his hand, and Tony reached out with his cuffed hands to shake it. "My name's Thomas Landon. I'm the public defender that's been assigned to your case." Tony nodded. "I understand you gave the police a full confession last night?"
"I did."
"You shouldn't have done that. But maybe we can make a case for them getting it unethically. Did they make any threats?"
Tony blinked. What the... "No. No threats."
"Hmm. Well, I'm sure there's something I can work with."
"Wait...I think there's been a misunderstanding," Tony said. "I'm not wanting to fight this."
Landon blinked at him. "Mr. Wakim, you've been charged with five counts of attempted murder, five counts of felony kidnapping, two counts of third-degree grand theft auto and one count of third-degree felony destruction of property. Do you understand that?"
"Yes, I do." Tony nodded.
"The attempted murder charges alone come with sentences of either life in prison or the death penalty. Do you realize that?"
Tony took a breath. "I do. Do you realize who I attacked?"
"Some singing group."
The attorney's indifference grated on Tony's nerves. "They were my friends, Mr. Landon. I nearly killed them. I deserve whatever happens."
Landon's face lit up. "Remorse. Good. Keep that attitude up."
Tony's mouth dropped. "Are you even listening to me? I want to plead guilty! I promised Geoff I wouldn't make them go to court!"
"Well Geoff is just going to have to understand, Mr. Wakim. My job is to make sure you get the best deal possible. You just leave everything to me."
Tony stared at Landon as his hopes for a quick resolution were dashed. They would go to court. VoicePlay was going to be dragged onto the stand and made to relive everything while Landon tore them to shreds. Guys. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry...
Landon picked up his briefcase. "Everything's under control, Mr. Wakim. I'll look over everything and see you again in a few days."
Great. Tony sighed. "Thanks."

Two weeks later
Geoff, Layne, Eli, J, and Earl sat in awkward silence in the waiting room at the State Attorney's office. They exchanged glances or fidgeted nervously as they waited. All any of them had been told was that the State Attorney wanted to talk to them about the case against Tony.
Life had almost begun to feel normal again. PattyCake Productions was almost fully back up and running, although at somewhat of a reduced pace. The question of what to do with Tony's share of the business was still looming. VoicePlay was on hold until everything was settled, although they had made some vague plans for future videos. Geoff's hearing was about halfway back, allowing him to arrange music again, but he hadn't made a lot of progress. He just didn't have it in him right now.
They were called back into a book-lined office. The attorney was a man named Wilson, a large man with salt and pepper hair and an expensive suit, sitting behind a desk large enough to accomodate a family of ten at dinner. He looked up as they filed in. "Good morning, gentlemen. Please be seated." They sat down, and Wilson folded his hands as he looked at them. "I understand that none of you want to be here, so we'll make this as quick as we can." Eli and J nodded back at him as he went on. "Mr. Wakim's attorney is pushing to get all charges dismissed."
"What?!" Earl barked. The others echoed similar sentiments. Geoff looked down at the floor as a sour feeling built up in his stomach.
Eli's voice shook. "How is that even possible?"
Wilson held up a hand. "There's evidence that Mr. Wakim was not of sound mind when he committed the crimes against you. Also--"
"What evidence?" J asked. "That letter he wrote Geoff?"
"Mr. Wakim's lawyer has submitted evidence that he suffered a traumatic brain injury that he was self-medicating for using a drug called Prism. It's a fairly new hallucinogenic street drug, and by Mr. Wakim's statement he bought the Prism after he was denied prescription painkillers. His lawyer is going to paint him as a victim of the failure of American health care system and the war on opioids." Wilson sighed. "If this case gets into the court of public opinion there's likely going to be a high level of sympathy for Mr. Wakim. The judge may dismiss the charges to avoid a public backlash."
"Oh, my God." J's voice simmered with anger. "So he gets away with it? He...he tried to kill us and because he bumped his head he's going to get away with it?!"
"Not necessarily," Wilson said. "The judge may reject that argument. The next step Mr. Wakim's lawyer would take is to make a plea bargain."
"What kind of bargain?" Layne asked.
"He's wanting the attempted murder and kidnapping charges dismissed. In exchange Mr. Wakim would plead guilty to two counts of third-degree grand theft auto and one count of third-degree felony destruction of property."
"That's almost as bad," J snapped.
Wilson held up a hand. "He would also be fined five thousand dollars for each count and ordered to pay restitution to all of you for your medical expenses incurred."
"How much jail time would that be?" Layne asked.
"He could get up to five years in jail for each count."
"Up to," J said.
"And if we don't accept the plea deal?" Eli asked.
"Unfortunately, the final decision isn't yours to make. It's up to the judge. But if the plea deal is rejected, then we go to court on all charges. In that case Wakim is facing the death penalty on the attempted murder charges and life in prison on the kidnapping charges. And in that case Mr. Stein and Mr. Castellucci are going to be the main witnesses since they actually saw Mr. Wakim." Wilson sighed. "I've argued in court against Mr. Wakim's attorney before. He's young and ambitious and determined to make a name for himself. If he can get the charges dropped it'll go a long way towards doing that."
There was silence, and Geoff was the one to break it. "What do we need to do now?"
"The pre-trial hearing is in two weeks. I suggest you all prepare statements, keep quiet on social media, and prepare yourselves and your families for the possible outcomes." He stood. "If anything changes our office will inform you."
They stood and shook Wilson's hand in turn before leaving the office. Earl's fists were clenched and his eyes were watering with anger. J, Eli, and Layne looked similarily upset. Geoff felt nauseous as he thought about the upcoming hearing. Prepare a statement? What was he supposed to say?
J exploded after they got to the parking lot. "I don't believe it. I don't. Fucking. Believe it." He slapped his fist against his palm. "He almost blows us up, leaves us to starve, drags Geoff halfway across the country, tries to destroy Layne's business, and if some hotshot lawyer gets a judge to feel sorry for him he's going to get off?"
Eli's arms were crossed and his face red. "His lawyer's doing his job. We have to help Wilson do his."
Geoff rubbed his temples. "Can we...can we all just take a breath and calm down? We can talk about everything later."
Eli sighed deeply. "Geoff's right. We need...we need to think about how to do this. Maybe we can get together in the group chat later."
Silence fell, and after a few seconds Layne sighed. "I need to get back to PattyCake. I'll talk with you guys later."
They murmured good-byes as Layne walked off with his head down. It wasn't long before they all went back to their cars. Geoff got in his van and sat for a long time before starting it. He wished he could be angry at all this like Earl and J were. It would be better than this anxiety that was chilling him and kicking him in the stomach.
Geoff started the van and drove home. Once he was home Kathy went to PattyCake to help Layne, leaving Geoff alone with his thoughts as he took care of William.
***
Layne excused himself to go to bed even before the girls that night. His mind was whirling and he needed some quiet. For a long time he just lay on his bed, fully dressed, staring at the ceiling while his mind drifted.
A sigh escaped him when his phone went off; somehow he wasn't surprised it was Geoff calling. "Hey Geoff."
"Hi Layne." Geoff sounded as tired as Layne felt. "You doing okay?"
"Yeah. Just laying here thinking about things."
Geoff chuckled. "I'm rocking William to sleep, but yeah. I've been thinking too." A pause. "It's been hard to let the little guy out of my sight lately."
"I know the feeling. Believe me." He had a feeling he already knew, but he asked anyway. "What's on your mind?"
"The meeting with the lawyer today." Geoff paused again, and Layne waited. "What do you think about what all he said? About how Tony might get off?"
"I don't know," Layne said honestly.
"Neither do I. I don't blame the guys for being pissed. I wish I could be pissed off too. But...I just feel sick. Scared. Like..."
"Like?" Layne asked when his voice trailed off.
"Like I'm grieving. Like Tony died and I'm in mourning."
Layne nodded to himself. "I get it, Geoff. It was easy to hate him when he was running. When I could picture him as this...this demon in Tony's body. But now..." Now they had to face him. Face the fact that it was their friend who had done all that.
"Yeah." Geoff's voice was thick. "I don't know how I'm going to hold up when we go to court."
"We'll be okay, Geoff. We'll have to be."
"Yeah." There was a long pause, then Geoff said "I guess there's nothing to do now but push through it."
"Yeah." Layne wiped his damp eyes. "We've gotten through so far. It's almost over."
Another pause. "I'll let you go. See you at PattyCake tomorrow."
"See you. Good night, Geoff."
"'Night, Layne." Geoff hung up, and Layne resumed staring at the ceiling, his emotions churning in his stomach.

I wish Pia in the 80's made more Madonna-esque dance pop music and made music that sounded like Blondie, Cyndi Lauper, Samantha Fox, Paula Abdul, Belinda Carlisle, Janet Jackson, Mary Jane Girls, Appolonia 6, even Sade, Club Nouveau, 80's freestyle, New Jack Swing, new wave and synth pop and maybe even recorded some disco in the late 70's and early 80's.
Pia working with Nile Rogers, Stock Aitken and Waterman, Jellybean Benitez, Stephen Bray, Patrick Leonard, Full Force, Prince, Rick James, Blondie's Jimmy Rogers and Chris Stein, and maybe even David Bowie would be awesome.

hurry back, pretty boy (spencer reid/reader)
Title: Hurry Back, Pretty Boy Request: yes! Couple: Punk-y!Spencer Reid/Punk-y!Fem!Reader Category: Fluff Content Warning: swearing, mentions of sex, mentions of marijuana, mentions of a case, mentions of vomit Word Count: 2,867 Summary: Reader owns a bar and a little bit punk. She and Spencer are in a relationship. Reader learns about the BAU teams out-side of work personalities A/N: got this sweet request the other day. I took some creative liberties but followed the request closely. I did make spencer one hundred percent out of character, but he still acts like our precious innocent bean :) thanks for the love! check out my masterlist!
{***}{***}{***}
Everyone has a different personality inside and outside of work. Like, me for instance. I work at a bar, the one I own. Inside work, I have to be flirtatious and funny. I have to sell, sell, sell. Because if I don’t I don’t have a house. I have an entire act I have. I’m the flirty, punky, bitch that all the fat bastards love. However, outside of work, I’m still the flirty, punky, bitch… I’m just more to myself and not as… Out there.
Same story with my amazing and loving boyfriend, one Doctor Spencer Reid. He works as a profiler for the FBI’s Behaviour Analysis Unit, aka BAU. While Spencer was at work, he was the sweet, innocent boy who doesn’t know sex or how to flirt. He was their sweet, shy, innocent Pretty Boy… Inside work. However, outside work, when he was here at the bar with me or anywhere else… He’s pretty much like me. Though, he’s not a bitch, or bastard. He’s much kinder than that. Although, he’s still a little bit of a sweetheart. I guess that’s why I love him. He was still clever and smart, there was no getting rid of that. Personally, I just think that makes him so much more lovable.
As for his colleagues, they were all different. I remember meeting them all for the first time. They all seemed high strung, professional people that didn’t seem to hang out with someone like Spencer or me. Boy, was I dead wrong.
I met Spencer 5 years back. It was late one evening and he had just gotten off work, coming to my bar for a drink. He looked exhausted, like always. But this exhaustion was a different kind. Like he was stretched thin from whatever the case was he was working on. It was before I knew his true personality and self. I was thankful that he let his true colors shine, not to quote Cyndi Lauper or anything.
I think he was more nervous talking to me at first. I mean, it’s not every day you meet an attractive girl who has her arms tattooed with sleeves, colored hair, and several facial piercings. At first, I thought I was not his type. But then he asked me out and here we are, 2.5 years later.
“Hey guys,” I smiled as the team entered the bar. It looked like they all needed a drink of some sort. I smiled brightly as Spencer entered the bar behind his friends. When his eyes landed on me, his face lit up with excitement. He impatiently pushed past the team and came to me, basically jumping over the bar. I smiled as I pulled on his tie, bringing him down to my height. I was shorter than him by nearly a foot, and I loved it
“Hey there Pretty Boy,” I smiled, bringing one hand to rest on his cheek, keeping my grip around his tie, before kissing him deeply. He hummed, snaking his arms around my waist to hold me closer. I laughed against his lips as Penelope and Morgan began to protest our affection. I pulled my hand from Spencer’s face to flip them off.
“My shift is done in 15 minutes. I have extra clothes for you in my car. I’ll get you guys some drinks and join you if you’d like, once you’re changed?” I asked bringing my hands to rest on Spencer’s chest. I smoothed out the few wrinkles on his blazer and smiled. He hummed and nodded. I pulled my car keys from the pocket on my apron and placed then in Spencer’s hand. “Hurry back, Pretty Boy,” I went on my toes to peck his lips.
Spencer looked over my shoulder and at his friends, his cheeks blushing slightly. I gently patted his shoulders to get his attention back on me. He sighed deeply before looking down at me, smiling softly before holding up the keys. “I’ll be right back,” he whispered, tossing the keys in the air and catching them. I chuckled and watched as he turned to leave. I kept my eyes on him as he left. Boy, I love when he wears suits, or a blazer and slacks. He looks so… professional. I would risk anything for this man… everything about this man… I love.
“What can I get you guys?” I asked, keeping my eyes on Spencer as he left. Even when he was no longer in my sight, I kept my eyes towards his direction.
“Babygirl,” Derek, one of Spencer’s best friends, snapped in my direction and pulling my attention away from the back door and towards the group of agents. I smiled and looked at them.
“Drinks! Whaddya want?” I exhaled deeply as I placed my hands on the counter. Penelope, who I love dearly, was the first to the counter, nearly falling over herself as she pushed the others to the side. I cringed as her abdomen hit the wooden countertop, though she didn’t seem bothered by it.
“I want whatever is fruity and whatever can get me drunk,” she looked at me, throwing her purse on the counter as she leaned towards me. I laughed and nodded as I got to work on her drink.
“I take it it wasn’t a very good day?” I looked over my shoulder at Penelope, who was now sitting. Emily and Derek had joined her at the bar. The look of exhaustion on their faces told me that it probably wasn’t a good day.
“You could say that,” Emily looked up at me. Her eyes looked tired, and I’m sure she wanted to drown her sorrows in liquor and tequila. She probably wasn’t able to drink, mostly because she could still possibly be on duty. I know what she and Aaron have been doing lately, taking down some people for drugs. I’m not risking my weed because of that.
“Well, Agent Prentiss,” I looked at her with a smile as I handed Penelope her drink. “What can I get you tonight?” I grinned as I grabbed a tiny cocktail umbrella, opening it, and sticking it in Penelope’s drink. She giggled as she followed the others towards an empty corner booth. I looked towards the direction of the others and smiled.
“Anything, please, just give me anything,” she pleaded, dropping her hands onto the countertop. I smiled and nodded before making her something strong, but not strong enough to knock her out for the night.
“Do I even want to know what this case was about?” I spoke out loud, pouring some vodka into the glass. Emily groaned before placing her head on the counter. Derek laughed and shook his head. “I’ll take that as a no,” I laughed, turning to place Emily’s drink on the counter. I looked at Derek and smiled.
“I’ll just have a beer,” he shook his head. I pouted. Drunk Derek is my favorite and will always be my favorite. I nodded, grabbing a stein and filling it with the best stuff on tap. “Go over there and save me and our Pretty Boy a seat,” I flashed Derek a smile as I placed the stein on the counter.
“Yeah, I’ll save you and Pretty Boy a seat,” he teased as he stood up, grabbing his beer and leaving. I smiled and looked over at the group of agents.
“Did you have a good day?” Spencer’s voice sounded like music to my ears as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I hummed as he peppered my neck in kisses. I dropped my head to my shoulder and smiled as he continued to kiss my neck.
“Probably a better day than you and the others,” I mused, keeping my eyes on the team. They were laughing and fooling around with themselves, even though they all looked exhausted. Spencer chuckled, his breath fanning over the side of my neck, making me exhale deeply.
“My day was okay,” he laughed, his grip around my waist tightened a bit. I laughed and shook my head, resting my hands on top of his. “I had the day off, unlike Derek, Emily, Penelope, and Hotch,” he added before pressing a kiss to my jaw.
“Oh yeah, I forgot about that,” I laughed as I turned around to face him. He wrinkled his nose before placed a kiss on my lips. I laughed as his stupid tongue piercing hit my lips. “I always fucking forget that you have that,” I pulled my head away from him and spoke. Spencer laughed before sticking his tongue out at me. A silver ball/tongue stud sat on the center of the tip of his tongue.
“I quite like it,” he pressed it to his lips before smiling at me. I laughed and shook my head. Spencer looked down at me before pressing his lips to mine again.
“How about, you go join your team? I’ll make you a drink and meet you over there?” I batted my eyelashes at him. He laughed, his laugh making me feel giggly inside, before kissing me for the third time.
“If I must,” he pouted before releasing me from his grip. He smiled at me before going to join his friends. I leaned on the counter, folding my arms over each other as I stared at Spencer’s ass. Damn, he looked good in jeans. I don’t know why he didn’t wear them more often. And, the way his plain black tee-shirt hung off his shoulders… I could do unspeakable things with it. Or, maybe he could… The few tattoos he had on his arms made me smile. God, I love this side of Pretty Boy, Doctor Spencer Reid.
I sighed deeply, shaking my head clean from the dirty thoughts I was having of my boyfriend. I was quick making a neat whiskey for Spencer, and myself a boozy drink. I grabbed a few glasses and a bottle of wine, for JJ, Aaron, and David, placing everything on a tray, before finally going to join everyone at the booth.
“And here is everything,” I placed the tray on the counter before sitting on the bench beside Spencer. He smiled as he wrapped an arm around my waist. I looked at him and placed his drink in front of him. “Wine for the mother and fathers,” I looked at JJ, Hotch, and Rossi. JJ looked eternally grateful that I brought over a bottle of wine. I wouldn’t be surprised if she would drink all of it in one shot. I’ve attended girl’s night before with JJ, Emily, and Penelope. They like to start off early, leaving me to be the designated driver before I had on sip of alcohol.
“You… Are the best,” she whispered as she grabbed for the bottle and a glass for herself. I fished for the swiss-army knife buried in my pocket and handed it over to her. She smiled as she pulled it from me and opening it to the corkscrew to open the bottle.
“I’m really guessing today wasn’t good,” I widened my eyes as I watched her pour the wine till her glass was totally full. Spencer looked over at me and shook his head.
“Best not get into it, Princess,” he whispered. I cringed before sipping my drink, shivering as the alcohol hit my tongue. The conversations went on, as usual. Talking about whatever it was they wanted to talk about. And, sure enough, Spencer always had something to say.
{***}{***}{***}
“Anyone want some weed?” A regular of the bar asked somewhere across the bar. I anxiously sipped my drink as Aaron and Emily shared a look, silently telling each other that they’d have to bust my bar. I wrinkled my nose and shifted in my seat, not liking that I’d probably lose my job and dealer over that. I’ll have to talk to him about that later when there aren’t 6 FBI agents in my presence and in my bar.
Spencer, who was a little bit drunk at this point in the night, leaned over and wrapped his arms around my body. I let out a strained laugh as he leaned his full weight on me. He pressed his lips sloppily to the side of my head.
“I luh you s’much,” he whispered, poking my nose. I grinned and looked over at him. I raised my eyebrows, my smile becoming smugger. He huffed out a breath of air as he let his body become one with mine. I inhaled the faint smell of whiskey and even fainter smell of marijuana in his breath. God, if only Hotch and Emily knew that their innocent, smart agent partook in marijuana. To be honest, he mostly does it for stress and anxiety. And, it’s done him a great deal of good. “Did you know that? That I love you?” he asked, resting his chin on my shoulder.
“I think… I think it’s time we go home, Spence,” I planted my hand on his shoulder to steady him. He made a sound in protest. I widened my eyes as I looked around the table. “You only had two drinks. How are you this drunk?” I asked, looking at the two empty glasses sitting on the table in front of him. He swallowed roughly, opening his mouth to spit out some sort of incredible fact out. Only to fail when he hiccuped instead. I laughed and nodded. “That’s what I thought,” I whispered.
“You guys can’t be serious. You can’t leave!” Penelope looked at Spencer and I. I pouted as I slid out of the booth, Spencer falling over where I was once sitting. I laughed and shook my head. “Spencer’s fine! He’s not as much of a lightweight as you think!” She added in an exclamation. She did the exact thing when David and Aaron left nearly two hours ago. But, at this point, it’s later than that… And, I’m incredibly exhausted. Spencer’s the lightest lightweight I know.
“Penelope,” I laughed and shook my head, “I know, for a fact, he’s had a busy day. Reading his little heart away. I haven’t seen him all day,” I gestured to the bar behind me. “I’ve been here all day. Please,” I looked at her and pouted. I wrinkled my nose slightly as my lip piercing hit my chin. Penelope looked at me, about ready to protest, but stopped when Derek placed a hand on her shoulder.
“It’s about time we go too,” he spoke to her. I looked at him and flashed him a smile, thanking him for stopping her. Derek winked at me before turning back to his drunken friend. I looked down at the Pretty Boy.
“C’mon, Spence,” I whispered, leaning over to help him up. Spencer looked at me as he threw his hand over my shoulders again. The way he looked at me made me want to melt slightly. “I’ll see you guys another day!” I struggled to wave at the other members of the team. They all bid their farewells to Spencer and I before we finally left.
“Are we going home?” Spencer asked, keeping his weight on my body. I groaned, straining as he threw his other arm over me.
“Yeah, baby, we’re going home,” I struggled to open the passenger side door. Spencer looked at me as I buckled him in, and smiled brightly. “Yes?” I smiled at him.
“I just love you so much,” he whispered, bringing a hand to rest on my cheek. I sighed deeply before kissing him. I pulled away and looked down at him. His eyes were watering slightly, making me chuckle lightly. I lifted my hand and placed it on his cheek. He hummed and leaned into my touch.
“Baby, I know,” I chuckled and smiled at him. Something flashed across his, his eyes widening as his cheeks puffed out. Fuck. He better not. “Oh no, I know that look,” I shook my head, pulling him so he’d throw up outside of my clean car instead of inside. He looked up at me, his eyes telling me that he was sorry before he threw up on the ground outside… Right, where my feet were. I groaned and held back my anger, not wanting to get mad at the mildly drunk Spencer.
“I’m so sorry,” his face twisted as he realized he had just done. I wiped my face with both my hands and looked down at him. He was still looking at me, an apologetic look on his face.
“Baby, it’s okay. Don’t worry about,” I whispered, looking down at him. He nodded and wiped his upper lip. I flashed him one last smile before pushing the door shut. I looked down at the pile of sick on the ground and looked at my feet. I sighed as I kicked my shoes off and picked them up.
“Give him grace, he doesn’t drink,” I whispered, looking at the ruined shoes. I opened the back door and placed the shoes on the seat before going around to the driver’s side. Spencer, surprisingly, was already asleep. I pouted. I loved drunk Spencer and his endless blabber of compliments.
“Oh, Pretty Boy, you’re so sweet,” I smiled as I started the car and speeding away.

Into the Night (Hocus Pocus) — PattyCake Productions music video
youtube
The PattyCake guys are, above all else, storytellers. So when they found themselves with the time and resources to create a never-before-seen portion of one of their favorite movies, they leapt at the chance. While they were at it, they took the opportunity to write a brand new song for their beloved witchy women, and it's an absolute toe-tapper.
Details:
title: Hocus Pocus – Into the Night
performers: Kimberley Zurzolo (Winifred Sanderson); Jaimz Dillman (Mary Sanderson); Stephanie Trilli (Sarah Sanderson); Stevie Christofore (Dani Dennison); Cyndi Stein (mother); Doris Stein (baby); Nicholas Andrew Louie (Binx); Alexander Browne (store clerk); Ashley Zicky, Hannah Juliano, Layne Stein, & Tony Wakim (featured vocals)
written & arranged by: Layne Stein & Tony Wakim
release date: 21 September 2019
My favorite bits:
the poetic backstory narration
all three ladies' fantastic characterization
recreating the "Amok!" moment from the movie
the sisters getting spooked by the automatic doors
Mary guzzling baby oil because she thinks it's made from babies
poor little Dani trying not to fall out of the sky while cringing away from Winnie
stirring the potion with that unnecesarily huge spoon
Sarah and Mary singing a bit of "Come Little Children" as harmony
Trivia:
This project started out as a recreation of a deleted scene from the original movie.
It's a follow up to their previous Hocus Pocus music videos, "Hocus Heathens" (2016) and "Look What You Made Me Brew" (2017).
Kimberley took over the role of Winifred from Jennica due to availability issues. Like her predecessor, she had also played Winnie in Disney World's Not-So-Scary Halloween festivities in 2016 and 2017, but retired after the second year, and hadn't performed since. This video was Kimberley's first on-camera work.
Dani was played by Layne's step-daughter Kaley in "Hocus Heathens", but she had outgrown the part in the ensuing three years. They kept things in the family by passing the role to her younger cousin.
Stevie was featured in the PattyCake's Halloween video the next year, "Bump in the Night", which the Sandersons also appeared in.
The crowd of trick-or-treaters includes several of the cast and crew members' kids, relatives, and family friends, as well as local young performers recruited through an open casting call. (Some of their grown-up cast members from other ongoing series expressed disappointment that they didn't meet the age requirements.)
PattyCake put countdown posts on their social media in the days leading up to the video's release to build anticipation.
On the same day as the video, they released an audio EP containing both the studio and video versions of the featured song, along with two versions of "I Put A Spell On You", in the style of Hocus Pocus and their own "Hocus Heathens", as well as their spooky Taylor Swift mashup "Look What You Made Me Brew". Patreon patrons also received an exclusive audio track, their cover of "Come Little Children" from the movie.
They released an extended version of the recreated deleted scene without the song a week later.
youtube
A month after the initial release, PattyCake put out an enhanced version of the music video with creator commentary and behind-the-scenes footage, as well as a full BTS video.
youtube
youtube
They also later posted a clip from that behind-the-scenes video of filming in the cottage interior set on PattyCake's secondary Instagram account.

As an additional treat, they teamed up with two-time Cupcake Wars winner Jillian Hopke to create some Sanderson sisters inspired snacks.

updated: april 14th, 2020
spotify + apple music
hey hey! since it’s gonna be a bit until part three comes out, thought i’d tide you over by updating the fic’s playlist! as always, it’s music that inspired me while writing, both lyrical and score. hope y’all get a kick out of the new additions!
lyrical:
almost paradise - mark reno and ann wilson
i thought my heart would beat in secrecy / i faced the nights alone / oh how could i have known that all my life i only needed you?

how do you think i’m gonna get along / without you when you’re gone?
waiting for a girl like you - foreigner
it feels so right, so warm and true, i need to know if you feel it too / maybe i'm wrong, won't you tell me if i'm coming on too strong? / this heart of mine has been hurt before, this time i want to be sure
keep on loving you - reo speedwagon

when it feels like this / like a light came on / and you look at me like i’m all you want / how could i resist when it feels like this?
open arms - journey
nothing to hide, believe what i say / so here i am with open arms / hoping you’ll see what your love means to me
i love you - billie eilish
maybe won’t you take it back? / say you were tryna to make me laugh / and nothing has to change today / you didn’t mean to say “i love you”
