tumblr might be about to do horrible things to the quality of this, i'm not sure, but the preview does not fill me with confidence. ANYWAY
these were made for the Elysium intro so technically this is out of chronological order of. everything. but also before i start posting comics i want to give a good visual on who these guys are! also hey these are all the guys that were relevant to the askblog (besides Shadow), nice
(oh my god i just realized i didn't actually put Sik in Elysium. i mean he's in the bit in the second half where it's flashing through everybody but i didn't put him in the actual intro with everybody else.. sorry buddy, Double's the more important custom hero i guess lmao)
Sonic the Hedgehog: you know her, you love her, she's transgender now! 19-ish as of Forces, aroace, personality and vibe same as always, nothing gets her down. the big plot twist with her is that she's an artificial life form like Shadow and was engineered with an aptitude for chaos energy, but she does her best to shrug off the implications.
Miles "Tails" Prower: sonic's adopted little brother, 17-ish as of Forces, transgender (this will be a theme), low self-confidence despite his intelligence and his ability to hold his own. a LOT of things happen to him, uh- Colors, Chronicles, and Lost World kinda got slammed together into one story arc, so he got halfway roboticized AND blasted with negative color until he was able to break out of the brainwashing. he hasn't found a way to undo the roboticization yet.
Amy Rose: i love amy so much but i don't know how to accurately capture her vibe. 18-ish as of Forces, she had a crush on sonic but has eased off on it and now they are comfortably friends (even if she can still be a bit much at times), she does tarot, i think the most that got changed is her design tbh
Knuckles the Echidna: straightforward-thinking treasure hunter, dealing with responsibility of guarding the master emerald vs him finally having an opportunity to explore the outside world, 20-ish as of Forces, got tormented a bit in the askblog
Shadow the Hedgehog: nonbinary alien hedgehog clusterfuck my beloved. they/them, actually somewhat chill underneath all the edge, technically Sonic is a knockoff of them, still has a pretty shaky sense of identity, at one point jorb helped me figure out what ShTH story path would be most canon for them but i don't want to find it rn
Daedalus "Double" Perrow: first of many OCs! maned wolf, 17-ish (?) as of Forces, more on him later because a lot of the comics so far involve him lmao. fills in 1/2 of the custom hero role in Forces (did the prison break, teams up directly with modern sonic, has past history with Infinite) and gets nicknamed "Gadget" by sonic. trans of gender
Wayne "Infinite" Bay: whoops i took an oc and accidentally spliced him into being infinite. double's friend, 19-ish as of Forces, got kidnapped and experimented on by eggman. the askblog plotline was building up to double trying to find and save him because they were friends before wayne got corrupted by the phantom ruby, but my energy fizzled out before that could get anywhere
i can't believe sik didn't get a cool image like everybody else. get wrecked lmao

VOICE OF AN ANGEL
My Way (with Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent) Voiced by Codot
(Alternate Title: The Time Bruce Brought a Talent Agent to the Club and Sang (Badly) to Give Harvey the Confidence to Sing in Front of People)
The comics don’t play up how much Bruce and Harvey cared about each other. The occasional handshake and smile doth not a friendship make. Sometimes you need to take a knee to give them a lift. You don’t do it because you have to. You do it because you care about them.
Next week would be the People vs. Dr. Pamela Isley case. Life’s funny that way.
[Codot’s Karaoke Rules Apply: The notes are not perfect because you don’t get a second chance in karaoke. I operate in reality. I did the same for Edward (twice), and I will do the same for Harvey]

I've heard people talk about how gothamites probably assume the Waynes are in the mob and I think it would be funnier if that made more people (including villains) want to be in their good graces.
Goons often try to make a good impression when they're assigned to kidnap a Wayne coz they want to gain their respect while others hide so they don't get a hit put out on them. More then once a goon has brought a CV with him to kidnap Bruce coz he heard the mob pays well. Bruce just gives them jobs at WE.
The penguin would definitely want to form connections or make deals with them. When Bruce insists he isn't a mob boss Penguin thinks he's either playing dumb or he's just being used to launder the money and one of his kids is actually in charge. Tim definitely plays into the crime boss persona sometimes and is Penguin's primary suspect for the ring leader. Jason is offended that no one thinks he "gives off crime boss vibes" and almost reveals his identity in frustration.
Joker's people have also either try to hire them or form a partnership with the Waynes to get more manpower but batman always ruins those schemes prematurely. This isn't particularly unusual for batman to do but the fact that it's a near guaranteed fail indicates that there might be a mole working for Wayne, perhaps the butler, but they don't know enough about the Wayne's businesses and power to throw around baseless accusations. Besides they much prefer working with local trustworthy rogues like Matches Malone anyway.
The only villain really mad about this is Lex Luther coz now Bruce has more money, hair AND street cred then him.

More dommy mommy reader!
this time, using some lines from makima’s jp cv’s asmr and devil wears prada scenes. pretty sure i wrote this scenario before but like a long time ago, and just in headcannons so.
YANDERE! BATFAM x DOMMY! MOMMY! READER
You do not think Bruce Wayne was completely aware of the logistics when it came to Galas. If he did he wouldn’t be holding so many of those damn things all the time.
“I’m so sorry, Miss [Y/N]! I really did confirm last night.”
“Tales of your incompetence do not interest me.”
But maybe you shouldn’t be blaming him, but the lack of tact, wit, or remarkable capability the entire staff had. Then again, it’s because you’re always around the Batfamily that your standards for competency were so high.
“Miss [Y/N]!” You heard someone call out to you.
The assistant behind you visibly tensed. Anyone with a brain on them knew not to bother you during work. Hell, any thing that could breathe knew not to approach you when you were swamped with work (which was usually all the time)
“Drake, let me go.”
“Damian. Stay.” Damian doesn’t even notice the condescending way his father reprimanded him, jealousy consumed him entirely. He only saw red.
“How can you be so calm about this? They’re practically smothering her!”
“There’s a reason why Miss [Y/N] was picked to be Alfred’s successor y’know. Beyond just family ties.” Dick caressed Damian’s hair. “She values professionalism above all. She’ll reject them right about now…”
“You . . . love me?” You parroted back. Your features do not budge an inch.
“Y-yes. I’ve been —“
You interrupt, frankly too busy to listen to their rambling, “Then pray.”
“Huh?”
“You love me right? Then pray that I love you. Beg if you have to.”
Despite their flustered almost angered reaction to your command, your admirer felt their knees turn into a soggy noodle like substance. Their heart practically leapt at the opportunity to obey you.
“Only God will make me consider.”
Not even a moment passed before you were back to your duties, the confession long gone from your thoughts, “Tell Timothy for the 48th time, no. I do not want those devices of him in my room, and if I find another one I’m promptly sending in my resignation. Has Bruce confirmed?”
“Uh- oh!” The intern snapped out of their daze, scribbling furiously on their notepad.
You finally stopped where the guys were at, a bit befuddled by the way they were staring holes at you. Damian practically had a mix of panic, relief and anger painted all over him. “Yes, how may I be of assistance to you, young master?”
“I- I’m fine.”
“Richard, make sure to confirm your attendance.” You glared at the eldest brother.
He saluted in response, “Yes, ma’am.”
“Busy day?” Jason inquired, an attempt at small talk if you will.
“Busy day.” You swiftly cut off his olive branch. After making sure none of the men needed your presence with a quick once over, you make a bow and left. Your voice, though soft could still be heard, “Do I smell freesias? If, I see, freesias anywhere I will be verrryyy disappointed —“

One reason I haven't updated shifting priorities in well over a year is that I've been fixated on an AU of my AU in which Bernard is thrown into the mix.
Like, Tim has been so fixated on trying to clone Kon that he has pretty much completely ignored his body. That cloning tube and Kon's DNA are pretty much the only things he cares about. And he's tried and failed 99 times. He's running out of Kon's DNA, nothing has worked, so he gets an extra boost of desperation.
He uses his own DNA as a stabilizing agent.
So, fun thing about cloning is that it requires a donor egg. The genetic material of the egg itself is removed and replaced with the complete DNA of whatever you're trying to clone (don't quote me on this, this is my recollection/understanding of how they made Dolly).
Tim, who in this AU has the parts that would produce a human egg (trans!Tim or AOB, dealer's choice for the purposes of this run-down), decides he's going to cut out the middle man and use his own.
Only to find out that he's pregnant. It doesn't really click in his head until he's gotten his egg and already started the 100th attempt (forgetting to remove his DNA from the egg before adding in Kon's), so when it finally hits him, he's staring at a cloning tube with a (finally) viable embryo.
So he goes out and gets himself a pregnancy test, and this is where he crosses paths with Bernard. Bernard just kind of stumbles across him in the local CVS, and at first thinks he could try to reconnect and made shoot his shot, only to realize exactly where he's found Tim.
And never let it be said that Bernard Dowd is a coward.
So he squares up and heads over, and ends up basically being Tim's moral support for the remainder of the pregnancy. He had even planned to be in the delivery room with Tim when the baby was born (which didn't happen because the baby decided to arrive a month early and in the most traumatic way possible).
He's not actually expecting anything from Tim. Clearly, Tim's got enough on his plate, and he's clearly still not over whoever it was who got him knocked up. So Bernard's mostly just trying to be a good friend. And if something eventually develops, well. Bernard certainly won't complain.
Bernard was thrown for kind of a loop when Danny came along, but delayed twins are a thing, so...he just kind of rolls with it. It's Gotham. Weirder things have happened.
He puts a lot of time into helping Tim out with the not-twins, and maybe kind of starts to think of the kids as maybe sort of his. In, like, a dad-that-stepped-up kind of way. Bernard is honestly surprised by how down he's turned out to be for basically co-parenting with Tim.
They end up building up a working system over the next few months, with Bernard coming over after school to mind the kids so Tim could get so rest in. By the time the not-twins are a month old, Bernard's kind of...moved into Wayne Manor. In an unofficial capacity.
And just when things seem to have reached a sort of equilibrium, Bruce dies. Or, well, it seems pretty overt that he's dead. Bernard's been in the know (to an extent) since Tim brought Danny home, so when Tim tells him his theory about the portrait of Mordecai Wayne, Bernard (funky little conspiracy theorist that he is) believes him.
Tim ends up leaving Danny and Ellie in Bernard's care so he can go and hunt down enough proof to bring Bruce home, with encouragement from Bernard (and the condition that Tim maintains regular contact while gone). It's not easy, being a single parent to twins is even less easy, but Bernard fully believes that this is something Tim needs to do, and he was already pretty much done with school, so he doesn't have to worry about college until the fall.
BruceQuest occurs largely unchanged from canon, save for the fact that Tim is less passively suicidal throughout. And when Kon finds him in that sewer...well, Tim's half-convinced he's talking to a hallucination, so he mentions the not-twins.
After that encounter, Kon makes a bee-line for Gotham, and gets to meet the babies. One thing leads to another, and Kon and Bernard end up co-parenting while Tim's off saving Bruce's bacon.
When everything is handled and Tim's back home with Bruce not too far behind, the three of them end up having to have a discussion about what they're gonna do moving forward.
Endgame TimBerKon.
#timkon clone baby#timberkon#i think there's less fudging of the canon timeline in this version#but it's been ages since I've read anything pre-Red Robin so I'd have to go back and check

Grief (A Friend Indeed) Part 4
Hey, guys! This story is coming along at quite the clip. I have part 5 already done. I have the specific plot beats mapped out and you are in for a wild ride.
Enjoy more Lauren being awesome, Steve being a history buff, and liking alt rock. A bit of tw for allusion to cancer. It's where Penny and Wayne talk so if you want to skip it just know that Penny isn't acting herself in this chapter and is handling the grief badly.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
***
Lauren tapped her lip thoughtfully. “I suppose I’ll grant you Robin being better than me on the sheer fact that she’s your soulmate. But it was this close.” She held her finger and thumb so close together they were almost touching.
“Platonic,” Steve assured her. Lauren raised an eyebrow at him. “I’m not her type,” he added with a shrug.
“That’s fair,” she said. “I hate it when people assume that just because you’re opposite genders that you have to be romantically linked.”
Steve nodded. “As if other types of love don’t exist.”
Eddie winced. Steve caught his eye and blushed.
“I mean you can love friends and family, that’s not romantic, right?”
When no one answered, he continued. “Like one of the kids I used to babysit, Dustin. The one that built the CV tower. God I love that kid like my little brother. But I’m not attracted to him for fuck’s sake. All I’m saying is love is more then just romantic. Hell, the Greeks had a half of a dozen or so types of love.”
Eddie leaned forward interested. “Yeah, like what?”
“There’s love for the gods, love for your brothers in arms, love for your family, romantic love, and sexual love,” Steve said, naming them and counting his fingers. “I think there are more than that, but I don’t really remember.”
Oliver frowned at Steve. “Aren’t romantic love and sex the same thing?”
Steve shrugged. “You’d have to ask them, I don’t know. But I never thought so. You don’t have to be in love to have sex and you don’t have to sex with a romantic partner.”
Lauren launched into music and her tastes to quickly change the subject as Penny was starting to frown about the sex talk.
Eddie started talking to Gale about how she liked school now that she had finished kindergarten and resurfaced to Lauren and Steve’s conversation a few minutes later.
“You can’t honestly believe that Speak & Spell is the superior album,” Steve groused. “It had one hit on it and I wouldn’t even call it that.”
“I just think the band lost a little something when Vince Clarke left is all,” Lauren murmured.
Oliver sidled up to Eddie and nudged him with his elbow. “Do you know what they are talking about?”
Eddie just shook his head, enthralled. He had seen Steve passionate about sports before but this was new.
“Some Great Reward has some of the best songs on it,” Steve continued, unaware he was being watched. “God, I remember the first I heard ‘Lie to Me’, it was like someone understood me for the first time in my life.”
Lauren snorted. “You just used that one because it was the one that would raise the least amount of eyebrows.”
Steve laughed. “Maybe a little, but I was serious about that song. I must have listened to it a dozens of times my senior year of high school. But yeah, I really connected with that album.”
She hummed. She had a feeling it had to do with that girlfriend he brought up earlier, but she would wait until there weren’t so many prying eyes and listening ears.
“I’ll give you Depeche Mode,” she said. “But please tell you don’t like Tears for Fears, please...”
Eddie barked out a laugh. “Stevie boy here has both of their albums.”
Steve just shrugged. “I’m not about to feel shame for liking a good band.”
Lauren opened her mouth to argue when her mother interrupted.
“Steve, Eddie?” Penny called out. “You will have to be sharing a room.”
Eddie’s eyes went wide as if he hadn’t considered that.
“It’s okay, ma’am,” Steve said with his most charming smile. “We’ve shared a room a couple times before, we’ll be fine.”
Eddie nearly choked on his own spit. While that was true, he didn’t think it was a wise thing to say in crowd of strangers.
Penny blinked at him. “Excuse me? You’ve shared a room with Eddie before?”
Steve batted his eyelashes at her innocently. “Sure. Often times when playing their D&D game it’ll go late in the night and they’ll end up sleeping over. My house has a lot of rooms, but not that many. So we’ll often double or triple up in a room.”
Gale looked up from her toys she was playing with on the floor. “Just how many rooms do you have?”
Penny shushed her. “We don’t talk about that sort of thing in mixed company!”
“In addition to my parents room and mine,” Steve said steadfastly ignoring her, “three other bedrooms, plus another room in the basement that could be converted into a guest room in a pinch if I had to.”
Penny turned purple. “That’s enough of that talk.”
Wayne stepped in before his sister threw hands with one of his boys. And yes, Steve was his. He just didn’t know it yet.
“It’s not a sin to talk about money,” he said. “Not talking about money is how those in power stay in power. It’s why I’m in a union at the plant. Steve can’t help where he’s from anymore than you can. The size of his house isn’t going to change just because you don’t want to hear it.”
Penny’s jaw dropped. She looked around at her children and then ducked her head. She got up and headed for the kitchen. Lauren got up to follow, but Wayne held up his hand and shook his head.
“I’ll deal with her.”
Eddie stood there with pursed lips trying not smile. But it was hard. Wayne rarely stood up to Penny because he had known for years that she was Grandma’s favorite and her kids were treated like royalty. Not like him and Wayne and in his early years, Al.
His grandma was a sweet old lady who loved him, but he knew that Penny and her kids got preferential treatment because they lived close. It was hard not to be at least a little bitter about that.
“Go Uncle Wayne,” Lauren said with a low whistle. “Classism goes both ways and Grandma would have had a fit if she had seen how Mom acted today.”
Eddie let his smile break through. “Who’s up for some cribbage?” he asked pulling a deck of cards out of his leather jacket pocket.
All three of the Nelson sibling bounced up and Gale ran to the hallway to grab a cribbage board. She pulled out four pegs and then looked at Steve.
He held up his hands. “I’ve never played before, so I’ll just watch.”
Eddie cocked his head to side. “You haven’t? Huh, I thought everyone knew how to play.”
Steve just shook his head.
“Tell you what,” Eddie said, sitting down around the coffee table. “We’ll play a couple rounds of cribbage and then we’ll play something you know how to play.”
“Do you guys know rummy?” Steve asked wiping his hands on his front of his jeans.
“Yeah,” Lauren said with a grin. “That’s a fun one. We’ll play that one next.”
The other kids nodded and Steve settled into to watch the weirdest card game imaginable played on a wooden board with little plastic pegs like rejects from the Life game.
*
Penny rounded on Wayne but the seeing the look on his face caused whatever argument she had to shrivel up behind her teeth. Her shoulders slumped and she ran her hands over her face.
“Fuck, Wayne,” she murmured. “I’m sorry. I just have all this rage inside. She could have tried to beat it. There were medicines and things she could have taken to give us a little bit more time with her and she just didn’t… take it.”
Wayne wrapped her in his arms and held her.
“And we almost had two funerals this year,” she continued into his shoulder, “and I’m just on my last raw nerve.”
Wayne nodded. It was touch and go for Eddie those first three days in the hospital and every was waiting on baited breath to see if he would come out on the other side.
Hell, his favorite moment that week was Eddie’s surgeon staring Sheriff Powell in the face and telling him under no uncertain terms was he allowed anywhere near her patient until she was sure he was going to live. And then by the time Eddie was out of the woods, the government had pinned the murders on someone else.
Eddie stayed under for another couple of weeks so he never got to see how bad ass his surgeon was. But Wayne did, Steve did and they were both very grateful.
“I know, Penny,” he murmured, holding her close. “It’s been such a rough year for us Munsons. How’s Danny handling it?”
Penny snorted. “You’d think it was his mama that died, not mine with all the wailing and carrying on he’s doing.”
Wayne laughed. “Sounds like our Danny.”
Danny and Penny were Hawkins High sweethearts that moved to Ashland to be closer to Penny’s mom when she slipped and fell.
“He’ll be home from work in an hour or so,” Penny said. “You wanna help me make dinner?”
“Whacha making?”
“Just chicken and rice,” she said, pulling things out of the fridge and cupboards.
“Sure.”
*
Steve tallied up the points from their five games of rummy and then threw the pen down.
“Fucking hell!” he hissed. “You’d think I’d be used to getting skunked by fifteen year olds.”
Eddie laughed. “Nah, I’m pretty sure Oliver just cheated.”
The teenager was on his feet in an instant. “I didn’t!”
Lauren put her hand on his arm. “They’re teasing you. Chill.”
Oliver sat back down.
Then the door opened and a man stepped inside. He had curly red hair, a barreled chest, and an easy smile. This was obviously Danny Nelson.
He spotted Steve right off and made a beeline for him. “You must be Steve, Eddie’s told us all about you.”
Steve stood up and shook his hand. “Thanks for having me so last minute.”
“I’m just glad Eddie’s got someone looking out for him,” Danny said. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I can smell my wife’s delicious cooking.”
Steve nodded.
Soon they were all called for dinner and Steve was seated between Eddie and Lauren.
He could tell that whatever Wayne and Penny had talked about had sorted her out and she seemed a lot less hostile. But that could have also been the calming presence of her husband, Danny. He had tucked her into his side as they ate, and she leaned into his touch.
It made him grieve the lost of what his family could have been if his grandmother hadn’t died.
Maybe they still would have fallen apart, but maybe they would have been like this.
But he also knew that he had to be grateful for that money not because of the things he had gotten, but because it gave him the chance to find his own family in the monster-hunting party that were his friends.

Century-Old Clara Bow Silent Film Believed Lost Forever Found
Long-Lost Clara Bow Silent Film Found in a Omaha Parking Lot.
The Pill Pounder, one of the key titles in the CV of the iconic flapper, has enjoyed a belated revival at the San Francisco Silent film festival
A century after she first began to turn heads, Clara Bow is “It” once more. The iconic flapper of the silent film era inspired Margot Robbie’s character Nellie in Damien Chazelle’s Hollywood epic Babylon, is namechecked on Taylor Swift’s forthcoming album The Tortured Poets Department, and yesterday at the San Francisco Silent film festival, one of her earliest films was shown for the first time since the days of bathtub gin.
The story of the film’s discovery has already caused excitement online. Film-maker Gary Huggins inadvertently snapped up a slice of lost silent film history at an auction in a car park in Omaha, Nebraska, that was selling old stock from a distribution company called Modern Sound Pictures. Hoping to bid on a copy of the 1926 comedy Eve’s Leaves that he had spotted on top of a pile, Huggins was informed that he could only buy the whole pallet of movies, not individual cans. The upside? The lot was his for only $20.
Huggins soon discovered that his new pile of reels included 1923’s The Pill Pounder, a silent comedy that had been thought to be lost for decades. It is a short, two-reel film, shot on Long Island, New York, and directed by Gregory La Cava, best known for later classics such as My Man Godfrey (1936) and Stage Door (1937). The film stars rubber-faced vaudeville veteran Charlie Murray, the so-called “Irish comedian” who was actually from Laurel, Indiana. He plays a hapless pharmacist, the “pill pounder” of the title, who is trying to host a clandestine poker game in the back room of his drugstore. What few realised until Huggins watched the film, was that it also features 17-year-old Bow in a supporting role. She plays the girlfriend of Murray’s son, played by James Turfler, who had already appeared with Bow in her second film Down to the Sea in Ships, directed by Elmer Clifton and screened in 1922. Turfler’s character is the butt of some bizarre gags. At one point, he chugs a jug of effervescent “fomo seltzer” and Bow watches in horror as he floats up to the ceiling.
In this, one of her earliest surviving performances on film, Bow looks even younger than her years. Although she lacks the sleek Hollywood glamour she later acquired, she has the charisma to turn a thankless bit-part into something of a scene-stealer. The critics took note: based on the evidence of this film, the Exhibitors’ Trade Review described her as “perhaps the most promising of the younger actresses”. In his introduction to the film at San Francisco’s grand Palace of Fine Arts theatre, Bow’s biographer, the screenwriter David Stenn, speculated that the actor may have forgotten that she made the film, as she never talked about it. It was made during a traumatic period in her life, only a few weeks after her mother’s death following prolonged mental illness. He invited us to imagine how Bow might have felt appearing in a lighthearted slapstick comedy in such circumstances.
The film, which has been restored by the festival’s organisers and was screened with accompanying music from composer Wayne Barker, now looks remarkably good for its age. The festival’s senior film restorer, Kathy Rose O’Regan, said it was in great shape when they received it. She added: “We imagined it was screened maybe a few times, but there’s hardly any damage – a few scratches here and there, some dirt, but overall in pretty stellar condition.”
Now it has been freshened up and looks its best, but it is still incomplete, being in what Stenn called a “beta version”.
That’s because the copy Huggins found was not from the 1920s, but a 35mm print from the 1950s or 1960s of an edit of the film that was destined to become part of a 16mm compilation of old silent films with a comic voiceover poking fun at its archaic aspects. The intertitles have been removed and there are a few scenes and shots missing, too.
This process is deeply unflattering to old movies, but it has been responsible for preserving versions of silent films that would otherwise have been lost, including the Lois Weber melodrama Shoes from 1916. And the lack of titles are no barrier to following the film.
“For me, it is a pretty perfect 14-minutes of fun,” says O’Regan. “It would be nice to know what the titles were, but you can certainly get the gist without them.”
Stenn called the tale of the film’s discovery “miraculous” and led a round of applause for Huggins, who was in the audience. He explained that there was reason to believe that some of the discarded material was among the other cans that were sold at the Omaha auction. The hunt is on to round out The Pill Pounder, and several people have joined in the search, combing through thousands of reels. One Omaha-based film-maker and silent film enthusiast, Alexander Payne, was quick to offer his support.
The film fills in a brief blank period in Bow’s filmography. She shot the role – probably in just a couple of days – in the early “false start” phase of her film career. Bow, a tomboy from a troubled home in Brooklyn, made her debut after winning a magazine talent competition in 1921 but struggled to get her career off the ground.
“I wore myself out goin’ from studio t’studio, from agency t’agency, applyin’ for every possible part,” she later recalled. “But there was always something. I was too young, or too little, or too fat. Usually I was too fat.”
In 1923, she found her way into a handful of films, including The Pill Pounder, where she had the chance to shine in supporting roles, and this is when she finally got her ticket to Hollywood and Paramount.
“She’s not the star of the film, but you can’t take her eyes off her,” says O’Regan. “For the few minutes she’s there she’s divine, she’s fun, she’s full of energy.”
The festival screened The Pill Pounder alongside another new restoration. The feature film Dancing Mothers directed by Herbert Brenon in 1926, is a flapper drama that Bow made for Paramount, in one of her last supporting roles. She plays the reckless daughter of a lonely woman (Alice Joyce) who tires of staying home while her husband and daughter party hard in New York and steps out to go nightclubbing. Bow completely pulls focus from the grownups around her, playing a hedonistic minx, whose body spasms with pleasure when she sips a cocktail.
Stenn described the later film as “like watching a star being born”. Finally, Bow was able to make good on her early promise and start her career as a leading lady. With the breakout comedy It directed by Clarence Badger in 1927, she became a genuine star for the ages. It is easy to look back and assume Bow was destined to become a sensation, but her overnight stardom took a good five years of hard work. The Pill Pounder offers a fascinating glimpse into the route that she took to get there.

so i've been thinking... maybe undertale fans should be more open to checking out UT AUs! i know some of us might be inclined to think they're not as good as "the real thing," but there's really a rich, creative community behind them. not only that, but it's fun to make your own too! here are some of my own recommendations:
you can't go wrong with the old classic Tachimukae! Kimi wa Kakkoii! (Face It! You're Cool!) the animation is a love letter to the worldwide UTAU community of the time (2009) and features cameos of practically every UTAU that existed back then, including those made by young amateurs overseas. this was a Big Deal when it dropped.
youtube
i still really love the original song null by fractalsleuth:
youtube
and if you were wondering, UTAU isn't limited to japanese. english voicebanks are possible too!
youtube
you can get started with UTAU by installing either the open source, multi-platform OpenUtau, or by switching your locale to Japanese and installing the original UTAU for Windows. i'm personally used to UTAU, but OpenUtau is in active development so i think it's worth trying out :)
you can think of a very simple UTAU voicebank as a folder containing .wav files of Japanese syllable sounds, like か.wav (ka) and so on. so just get your nicest microphone, a reclist (recording list), and start recording! OREMO and SetParam are highly recommended software for recording and configuring UTAU, as they're made specifically for it.
you'll find many ways to record an UTAU, but a CV (consonant-vowel) reclist is definitely my recommendation for an absolute beginner. even Wayne can do it...

STWG daily drabble
prompt: homesick
(Having another go - also, I just realised I tagged for Steddie yesterday, and there was no Steddie content! I am so sorry, I use that tag so much and it was automatic. I wasn't click baiting, I swear!)
****
They’re talking, like they always do, on a Sunday, shooting the shit, catching each other up on their weeks. It’s a comfortable rhythm they built after Eddie moved to LA, and he looks forward to it every week. Would call more if he could afford to (and never mentions that little tidbit to Wayne because the fucker will send him money).
“You seem quiet today, son.”
He’s sitting on the floor of the kitchen, dirty linoleum sticking to the backs of his legs. From this angle he can see mushrooms growing from under the edges of the refrigerator, a generous title given it’s usually warmer in there than it is in the apartment. Living the fucking dream.
“I’m okay,” he says, keeping it light.
“Yeah?”
Not light enough, apparently.
Eddie wants to tell him. That the band didn’t get signed. That they got bumped from their regular gig for some band with more lipstick and hairspray than you can pick up at a CVS. That Jeff has cut his losses and is going to college.
That the guy he was seeing decided that he could do without Eddie’s mental and physical baggage. That his job sucks, and leaves him in pain.
That he's homesick.
“You know,” starts Wayne, “it’s alright to come home if you want to. I told you when you left, you come home whenever you want. No time limit on that. You follow paths and sometimes they don’t lead no where so you track back a little until you find a new one that’s get you somewhere better. Nothing wrong with that.”
It sounds so simple, probably feels it to Wayne. But it feels like climbing Everest to him, the thought of being back there, of people having one more thing to mix in the shit when they sling it at him. Eddie the Freak. Eddie the Failure.
“Do you want to come home, Eddie?”
It fucking sucks, the idea of going back and people knowing his business, knowing he didn’t make it after all his blustering. Feels like he's buying the ammo and loading the gun for them.
But it’s a small town and next week there’ll be some other gossip for them to latch on to. Someones wife will end up kissing someone else’s husband, and the town rumour mill will get fed for another cycle.
“Yeah, I do,” he says, before he can stop himself.
It will be shitty, just for a little while. But he’ll have Wayne.

Mary Bradley, 41 (USA 1985)
Mary Bradley, an Alabama resident, was 41 and was pregnant with her 5th baby. She underwent a 20-week abortion at the hands of abortionist George Wayne Patterson in March of 1985.
Mary bled severely. She was admitted to the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile and her bleeding was described as “abnormal” and “uncontrollable”. Doctors performed a hysterectomy on March 28, 1985 in an attempt to save Mary, but she had developed a blood clotting disorder (likely disseminated intravascular coagulopathy or DIC) and respiratory problems as a result of the abortion. She died on April 4, 1985.
Less than a year after he killed Mary and her baby, Patterson killed another abortion client (Janyth Caldwell).
Patterson was later shot to death in an apparent robbery outside of a pornography theater. Police confirmed that the shooting was not in any way linked to his career as an abortionist, yet many pro-abortion sources treated the man as a martyr while ignoring those who died at his hands.

I RAN HERE AS SOON AS I COULD!
I had a dream about the bad post vigilante ending in Telltale. I can't really tell either it was the bad ending or Bruce wayne is just too tired to be nice.
So it starts with John being released from Arkham around 3 years later. He gets a job at a shop in a really pretty town near the sea where he meets a few friends (one of them being girl he made friends with as eric border). John is crazier than before, he should NOT have been let out yet. He wears the usual green undershirt and purple vest with large pink and green polkadots on it.
One day he finds out Bruce Wayne is on a date with a girl in this town. John is ECSTATIC, he is head over heels happy. After getting more information from random people entering the shop, he finds out he's in the CV just across the road from him. CV is a shop were woman buy their delicates for some reason? Anyway, John wants to see him but is too scared to go to the shop on his own, so he begs and begs his friend to go in with him until she says yes.
Okay, now they are in the shop and holy shut Bruce is DISHEVELED.. my guy looks like he didn't even attempt at looking nice for this date. His hair is everywhere and there and he has heavy eyebags. His shirt isn't even buttoned properly.
John goes up to him far too happy and chipper for how late it was and oh my god Bruve can't deal with it. He doesn't even process him being here. He's so tired he thinks he's HALLUCINATING. This is when I get a little fuzzy. They talk outside and John isn't happy about Bruce not being excited to see him. John explains how he got a new style and Bruce just stares into the distance. Also John is down bad and it's obvious he keeps hitting on Bruce who always just replies with a "yeah"
Okay finally, Bruce spills about a mission he has to go on and John pesters him about going. His shift at the shop had ended half an hour ago and he wanted to catch up with his buddy... Bruce doesn't agree or disagree he just ignores him so John follows him to the car.
This is when the most memorable thing in the dream happens. I don't know what it means, honestly. I don't know where it came from but. John stops in his tracks and he says...
"Aww I'm wearing my Transfem vest no wonder you couldn't hit on me! You were aiming for my chest!"
Then it just. Ends. They get I to the car, John stims like crazy and they just. Drive...
Transfem John... confirmed in my subconscious?..ungh idek anymore

my current major interests are learning japanese and learning astronomy specifically just stargazing and the stories behind constellations, and i am regularly playing animal crossing for the gamecube!
it makes me feel really well rounded. i even sent my CV to an organisation i wanna work with and they forwarded it to management!
i don’t like autumn or winter much at all, but things like this and the return of wayne have been keeping me upbeat even with my mood swingz
