This is something that affects every single school in Ontario, Canada. This isn't just about the phone ban, no, this us about the funding cuts, the teacher cuts and everything else that is being affected by this useless law that will cause more problems than solve them. On April 4th at 1:15pm we are doing an walk out to protest against this and make a statement to the school board. They say we have voices and a right to speak up, but they are afraid when we choose to actually use our voices for something we believe in. On April 4th I will be walking out, but I ask this to every student in Ontario. Will you walk out aswell?

I love when people say that because of the deficit in Ontario cuts have to come from somewhere, and the education budget is fair game, and then I mention the fact that…

*The province invested an unnecessary $10 million in horse racing;

*Ford and his PCs have voted to increase their salaries by 14%;

*Ford and his PCs have voted to increase their housing budgets 20%;

*Ford spent millions on advertising and stickers that won’t stick against the carbon tax;

*Ford spent money redesigning the Ontario Trillium Logo, which ended up being dropped after backlash;

*Ford has been increasing the salaries of positions and then appointing his friends to them;

*Ford has been creating positions for his friends to be appointed to, with six figure salaries;

*Ford has been appointing unqualified people to positions of importance in government and costing taxpayers money because Ministers, etc. are incapable of properly fulfilling their duties;

*Plenty of other wasteful spending.

Why is the education budget an appropriate place to make cuts when these areas aren’t?

so, in ontario, canada on april 4th. there is a walk out at 1:15 pm est. doug ford is going to make larger classes, that means people STANDING in the back if there isnt enough space. hes making taking FOUR e-learing (online) courses MANDATORY. hes TARGETING ART COURSES AND PROGRAMS. hes CUTTING 20% OF FUNDING. hes cutting OSAP and SCRAPPING FREE TUITION FOR LOW INCOME FAMILYS.

PLEASE DONT LET THIS HAPPEN.

I’ve been spamming this info all over Discord so I’m gonna put it here too.

If anyone is in the Toronto area/will be in the GTA on April 6th/wants to get involved there's a rally for education in queen's park Saturday April 6th starting at noon. We're protesting the Ontario govt's recent decisions regarding slashing the education budget, including increasing class sizes for grades 4-12, reducing staff numbers (teachers were promised they would not lose their jobs but no such assurances were made towards support staff), and reducing funding for accommodations for students with autism. There’s other stuff too but this is the big general stuff.

Honestly I’m praying to come out the other side of all this with a job, but even if I do this is going to negatively impact a lot of people, staff and students alike. We’re hoping to show that Cuts Hurt Kids, and I really don’t expect Dog Fart to listen to us but I’m not leaving without a fight.

Everyone is welcome at this rally if you support our cause!

anyway, ontario students remember: the sit-in on wednesday may 8th! 4:00 pm go to your local mpp (member of provincial parliament. not your mp.)’s office, if you’re in toronto then go to queen’s park, and if you’re in ottawa then parliament. if your mpp is a member of the pc party, make sure they understand that you (a future voter!) will remember how much the tories screwed everything up.

they’re ruining our education, our planet, our libraries, our democracy. make sure they know their time is running out.
